How Have You Challenged Yourself in 2015?
As a leader it is always an ongoing process to be learning and challenging yourself to continue to grow. Over the past twelve months, I have challenged myself to read several books to expand my knowledge. During this time I found that I was able to not only expand my knowledge through reading but I also read more books than I thought possible. In 2015 I was able to read thirty-eight books in a variety of categories such as leadership, marriage, personal growth, and family ministry.
Listed below are those books that challenged me as a leader.
Leadership
Launch by Nelson Searcy & Kerrick Thomas
The Modern Meeting Standard by Al Pittampali
The Five Dysfunctions of a Team by Patrick Lencioni
Silos, Politics, and Turf Wars by Patrick Lencioni
Crazy Busy by Kevin DeYoung
Simplify by Bill Hybels
Beat the Clock by Jim Wideman
Lasting Impact by Carey Nieuwhof
Lead ... for God’s Sake by Todd G. Gongwer
Clout by Jenni Catron
Live, Love, Lead by Brian Houston
H 3 Leadership by Brad Lomenick
The HD Leader by Derwin Gray
The Advantage by Patrick Lencioni
Viral Churches by Ed Stetzer
Marriage
Married People by Ted Lowe & Doug Fields
Seven Ways to be Her Hero by Doug Fields
You & Me Forever by Franis & Lisa Chan
From This Day Forwarrd by Craig & Amy Groeschel
Personal Growth
What Keeps You Up @ Night by Pete Wilson
The Mentor Leader by Tony Dungy
Let Hope In by Pete Wilson
Wired That Way by Marita Littauer
The Comeback by Louie Giglio
Interrupted by Jen Hatmaker
If by Mark Batterson
Scary Close by Donald Miller
Crash the Chatterbox by Steven Furtick
Plan B by Pete Wison
Family Ministry
Collaborate by Michael Chanley
It’s Just a Phase by Reggie Joiner & Kristin Ivy
General
Stuff Christians Like by Jon Acuff
Quitter by Jon Acuff
Do Over by Jon Acuff
Called for Life by Kent & Amber Brantley
The Volunteer Project by Kizer, Kreissher, & Whitacare
Not Normal by Sue Miller & Adam Duckworth
Life is _________ by Judah Smith
Each of these books challenged me in a different manner over the past twelve months and have provided opportunities for continued growth in the coming years. As you look back on 2015 I challenge you to think about the goals you set for yourself, how you have achieved those, and the implications for your life moving forward as a result of these goals.
