Time to meet the typical locals The nice thing about meeting young people in Cameroon are their honest curiosity, polite behaviour, their love of being photographed without this youtube-style nonsense posing, and their obvious pride. These two groups, the children in the foreground and the young adults in the back, are typical for the demographic of the country. And for city-people as well. Cameroon has a very young population. The median age is 18,7 years old, and 2 out every 5 cameroonian is under 14 years old. With a fertility rate of 4,6 children per woman, the population growth and share of young people are expected to be high for the rest of this century. https://worldpopulationreview.com/countries/cameroon-population #photoop #streetphotography #2015CE #young #boys #cameroongirls #classicchurch #architecture #candy #hangingoutwithfriends #demographic #profile #2015CE #Kamerun #cameroon #africa #mbe #Cameroon #ngaoundere #selfie (ved FULL Gospel Mission, Bali-Ngaoundere) https://www.instagram.com/p/CR_zVTGJFLt/?utm_medium=tumblr

Mobile phones, taking photos, making friends, keeping memories Seeing photos, not only of themselves, was a popularvway of making contact with the locals. And as my aunt shows, a typical Scandinavian photo style is to find life in the motives taken. When travelling, you often see groups of people looking for themselves living in the motives. Two equal but different ways to see the world. The mobile network in Cameroon was in rapid upgrading and extension during our travels there, but smartphones with quality cameras and high visibility screens was still a novelty. And there was a generational divide regarding photography, younger people and children embracing photos, while seniors not so much. Modern telecoms infrastructure is a key to human welfare and business development everywhere in this our common world. https://developingtelecoms.com/telecom-business/operator-news/10487-mtn-ivory-coast-orange-cameroon-boost-4g-connections.html #streetphotography #photosharing #streetkids #selfies #sharingmemories #makingfriends #mobilephoto #cameroon #2015CE #children #Kamerun #cameroon #africa #mbe #Cameroon #ngaoundere #selfie (ved Ngaoundere Palace) https://www.instagram.com/p/CR6qHX7psgq/?utm_medium=tumblr

I give you teenage ape on a stick, with a sideorder of gruffiness This young western lowland gorilla found posing on top of a tree stump that gave him quite an overview. Distinctingly observing my group of visitors and photographers. The western lowland gorilla (Gorilla gorilla gorilla) live in lowland swampland and forrest in western Africa, from Angola to Gabon and north to CAR. They are the smallest of the four main subspecies of gorilla. These gorillas travels in smaller and larger groups and often covers 3-5 kilometer a day. The groups are both breeding family groups and non-breeding groups of often young gorillas. During their "bachelor-age", male gorillas can change between groups of breeding and none-breeding, or even travelling solitary. This bachelor sweet age can go on for years, so no wonder this fellow is a bit grumpy. But he was brought to the wilderness sanctuary to keep him safe from humans, so at least he is alive. As all gorillas, lowlands gorillas are endangered animals close to extinction. The main enemy are human activities like deforrestation and hunting for bushmeat. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_lowland_gorilla #ape #gorilla #nature #naturereserve #limbe #wildlifecenter #refuge #cameroon #observing #curious #western #lowland #Gorillagorillagorilla #roadtrip #2015CE #Nikon #NikonD800 #D800 #300mm #f4 #Kamerun #cameroon #africa #mbe #Cameroon #ngaoundere #selfie (ved Limbe Wildlife Centre) https://www.instagram.com/p/z7jeLMD-nB/?utm_medium=tumblr

"It's meee!" For the children of the leoper colony on the outskirts north of the small town of Mbé visitors are few. As a show of support against the stigma that people treated and free from leprasy are unclean and 2nd class fellow humans, we visited the isolated small village. We were warmly welcomed and showed around, and photographs were taken. Modern digital cameras with screens you can see the results immediately was a popular novelty. It was the Norwegian doctor and scientist Gerhard A. Hansen that identified the origin of leprasy and developed the first modern treatment. Modern medicine can effectively eradicate this 4000 year old curse to humanity, but there are still some regions of the world were it exists. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerhard_Armauer_Hansen #boy #village #villagelife #lepra #lepracolony #visit #selfie #children #joy #mbe #Mbé #roadtrip #countryside #cameroon #NikonD800 #D800 #Nikon #Nikkor #85mm #f1_4 #centralafrica #westafrica #people #excitement #2015CE #Kamerun #cameroon #africa #mbe #Cameroon #ngaoundere #selfie (ved Mbé, Extreme-Nord, Cameroon) https://www.instagram.com/p/BF7lBfkD-uh/?utm_medium=tumblr
