Voilà le soir qui tombe, Les Misérables Original French Production, 1980
I may post her L'un vers l'autre after this. I adore her voice for Ăponine.
I'm not sure if people are talking about this but in this, she refers to Montparnasse as "ce coquin de Montparnasse" which from my understanding quite literally means a horrible person, but most of the time is just used towards children and that is just so hilarious to me. She's like "Oh this is Montparnasse he's such a silly little boy"

The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater (2012-2016)
Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue never sees them--until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks to her.
His name is Gansey, a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.
But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can't entirely explain. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul whose emotions range from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher who notices many things but says very little.
For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She doesn't believe in true love, and never thought this would be a problem. But as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she's not so sure anymore.
Shades of Magic by V. E. Schwab (2015-2017)
Kell is one of the last Antari--magicians with a rare, coveted ability to travel between parallel Londons; Red, Grey, White, and, once upon a time, Black.Kell was raised in Arnes--Red London--and officially serves the Maresh Empire as an ambassador, traveling between the frequent bloody regime changes in White London and the court of George III in the dullest of Londons, the one without any magic left to see.
Unofficially, Kell is a smuggler, servicing people willing to pay for even the smallest glimpses of a world they'll never see. It's a defiant hobby with dangerous consequences, which Kell is now seeing firsthand.
After an exchange goes awry, Kell escapes to Grey London and runs into Delilah Bard, a cut-purse with lofty aspirations. She first robs him, then saves him from a deadly enemy, and finally forces Kell to spirit her to another world for a proper adventure.
Now perilous magic is afoot, and treachery lurks at every turn. To save all of the worlds, they'll first need to stay alive.

Geralt of Rivia, the cunning assassin known as the Witcher, has been waiting for the birth of a prophesied child. This child has the power to change the world -- for good, or for evil.Â
As the threat of war hangs over the land and the child is hunted for her extraordinary powers, it will become Geralt's responsibility to protect them all. And the Witcher never accepts defeat.Â
Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones (1986-2008)

Her only chance at breaking it lies in the ever-moving castle in the hills: the Wizard Howl's castle.
To untangle the enchantment, Sophie must handle the heartless Howl, strike a bargain with a fire demon, and meet the Witch of the Waste head-on. Along the way, she discovers that there's far more to Howl--and herself--than first meets the eye.
In this giant jigsaw puzzle of a fantasy, people and things are never quite what they seem. Destinies are intertwined, identities exchanged, lovers confused. The Witch has placed a spell on Howl. Does the clue to breaking it lie in a famous poem? And what will happen to Sophie Hatter when she enters Howl's castle?

The visitors quickly wreak havoc in a city that refuses to believe in either God or Satan. He is treated as an outcast by all the royalty except the devious King Shrewd, who has him secretly tutored in the arts of the assassin. For in Fitz's blood runs the magic Skill--and the darker knowledge of a child raised with the stable hounds and rejected by his family.Â
As barbarous raiders ravage the coasts, Fitz is growing to manhood. Soon he will face his first dangerous, soul-shattering mission. And though some regard him as a threat to the throne, he may just be the key to the survival of the kingdom.
Earthsea Cycle by Ursula K. Le Guin (1968-2001)
Ged was the greatest sorcerer in Earthsea, but in his youth he was the reckless Sparrowhawk. In his hunger for power and knowledge, he tampered with long-held secrets and loosed a terrible shadow upon the world.
This is the tumultuous tale of his testing, how he mastered the mighty words of power, tamed an ancient dragon, and crossed death's threshold to restore the balance.

A little nostalgia from 2015.
That Marius (Devin Archer) is the current US tour's Enjolras, while the barely-glimpsed Enjolras (Steve Czarnecki) is the current tour's Factory Foreman and Brujon, understudying Javert.
Some pics from Musical Theatre Westâs production of Les Mis in Long Beach, CA â Iâm seeing it tomorrow!

Ace Attorney Les Miserables!
I had this idea like a month ago, and it was the same day I began my âJavertâs Soliloquyâ animatic with Miles Edgeworth (which I still need to finish, but school and other work has been in the way)
Les Mis was the first musical I listened to back around 2015 and I became OBSESSED. I would listen to different CD recordings of it from my public library using a CD player because I didnât have a phone at all. Les Mis introduced me to loving musical theatre, so it is Very Special to me đ
Anyways! I have two different scenarios based on which act you look at. The assigned characters for act 1 canât easily just go into act 2 UNLESS you continue to focus specifically on the dynamic between Valjean and Javert. If you focus on the dynamic between Marius and Cosette, then Iâd go with my Act 2 assignments because it just fits better for an act 2-specific focus.
Act 1!
I drew this about a month ago, but I never posted it bc I hadnât gotten around to the act 2 doodles. Here are the characters:
Phoenix Wright is Jean Valjean
Miles Edgeworth is Javert
Mia Fey is the priest / bishop
Thalassa Gramarye is Fantine
Trucy Wright is Cosette
And Iâm thinking about the Confrontation between Valjean and JavertâŠlike dude what it fits where Javert is like âYou know nothing of Javert! I was born inside a jail! I was born with scum like you! I am from the gutter too!â But instead of jail and such, itâs Edgeworth talking about how his father was a defense attorney, which he sees (now that he is a prosecutor) as âscumâ
If we continue to focus on the dynamic between Valjean and Javert into Act 2, then Javertâs Soliloquy,,,donât worry guys Iâm doing a full animatic (itâs with normal AA, not with this AU, but itâs still using the song)
Act 2!
If focusing solely on Act 2, itâs easier to reassign characters than to continue on with what there was because dynamics. So the new character assignments are:
Phoenix Wright is Marius
Miles Edgeworth is Cosette
Iris Fey is Eponine
Gregory Edgeworth is Jean Valjean
Manfred von Karma is Javert
Pearl Fey is Gavroche
Mia and Maya Fey are the other Barricade Boys
So in this version, I guess Valjean wouldnât have adopted Cosette?? Unless we wanna make Gregory be the adopted father of Miles and not his actual father. But hey uhh weirdly a von Karma redemption? Very very very rare to see that from me
Also!! I was assigning characters and was like âhm well ofc Iris would be Eponine if Phoenix is Marius bc đ she loves himâ and then as a separate thought was like âwell Pearl would obviously be Gavroche bc little childâ AND THEN I WAS HIT WITH THE REALIZATION THAT IT WAS PERFECT?? Because Gavroche and Eponine are siblings!!!! IT WAS UNINTENTIONAL
Anyways Iâm just super big brain
Oh yeah and that uh
Means all the Feys die :(

I swear!! heheee#I feel like I am forgetting something ahhh but I donât think I am?? idk#long post#I guess??

Thank you for tagging me @glowing-gold and @crepesuzette2023 it's always fun to talk about writing with you guys.
How many works do you have on A03?
Five
What's your total word count?
141,094
What are your top five fics by kudos?
The Cast Iron Shore -- The Reeperbahn -- Fixing a Hole -- The Importance of Being Erstwhile -- Taking Trophies
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I always respond eventually. I tend to go through self-hate spirals after posting things where I can't even acknowledge that the thing exists and looking at comments would be acknowledging that so i ignore everything for a long time. But. I will respond eventually because I sincerely appreciate comments. I love that people take the time to let me know what they liked. I'm sorry and I'm working on this!
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Definitely Taking Trophies. It's literally just angry sex that resolves nothing.
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
The Reeperbahn had to end gloriously golden for all the shit I put them through for all that time to be worth it.
Do you write crossovers?
Lol in high school I wrote a fic where Marius and Cosette are the Parents in Cinderella 2015. So no. The answer is no.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Yes and it was the greatest day of my life.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes. My inclination is to go kinky but I try to keep it vaguely normal lol
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope:)
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope. That would be so cool!
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not yet!
What's your all-time favorite ship?
Mclennon is the only thing I've actually ever shipped
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
The Mystery of the Missing Paul is what I've been calling it lately. It would just have to be so long in order to be done right and I'd want it done right, you know? It's just got to be novel length with actual novel amount of planning and development and structuring etc which I can't commit to unfortunately.
What are your writing strengths?
I mean everybody thinks this, but I think I really *get* both John and Paul and can put myself convincingly in their messed-up heads. As far as actual writing, I love to write dialogue. It's always what I write first, actually and comes pretty naturally.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Smut! Embarrassing but true. When some people talk about how difficult it is to write in a second language, I'm like yes! That sounds like me trying to write sex! And it's because only in the last few years of my life have I been breaking out of the puritanical mindset I was raised with. So while I love reading smut, writing it is extremely difficult for me.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in fic?
basically my rule is this: if we were watching this, would there be subtitles provided on the screen? Or would we be able to get what they're saying from context clues? If it's the former, just say "in German" or something. If it's the later, and it's just a few lines, it's fine.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Les Miserables. That book took over my life for a few years. I wrote a 30k fix-it just for myself before I even knew people published fanfiction.
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for but really want to?
I mean it's still in the Beatles, but I'd love to write a Linda/Yoko fic where they run away back to New York together and live their best independent artistic lives and raise Heather and Kyoko and go down in history as avant garde lesbians. John and Paul continue to bitch at each other tangentially and Yoko and Linda are unconcerned even though they both agree their exes are gay idiots. Maybe they decide to help them. Maybe they decide to Live and Let Die, who knows. But it would center on them.

hey there! i just read your post about musical bootlegs, and you mentioned that some filmers just disappeared. do you have any examples? i'd love to learn more about the history of bootlegging
Oh, that would probably be a really long list. I'll just note some of the most well-known ones that occurred during my time trading (so post-2011), whether within the trading community or in Phantom. Keep in mind too that some filmers disappear for a long while only to make a return; I won't be listing them since they're still around in some form. I'm also not going to name many of them because, well, safety, but you might be able to tell who they are based on the bootlegs I list as theirs.
One of the first is a filmer who filmed, among other things, the last show of Phantom's 3rd national tour, the video of Chris Mann and Katie Travis in Phantom, and the complete video of Dallas's modernized version of Les Miserables. They're well known to me because they actually posted their releases on Tumblr for a time, only to get harassed out because people kept yelling at them for bootlegging or selling bootlegs. They disappeared shortly thereafter; not sure if it's related to what happened to them on Tumblr, but it was a loss because I believe they were situated on the West Coast, whereas most other US filmers are in the East Coast, around Broadway, so we lost someone who could film productions in LA, San Francisco, and the tours.
Another who disappeared shortly thereafter was someone who was, well, a prolific filmer of many shows on Broadway and occasionally tours all over the US and was active since at least the mid-2000s. If you've watched, I don't know, the Cooper Grodin restaged tour videos, the original Broadway cast of Hamilton, the original Broadway cast of the 2nd revival of Les Miserables, any of those, you've seen their videos. From what I've gathered, they experienced some personal issues that caused them to take a break from filming and they have not returned since.
Also happening around the same period of time was another, mainly Broadway-based filmer who also did a few videos on the West End. (They filmed a video of Ben Crawford with Ali Ewoldt as well as the video of David Thaxton and Kelly Mathieson.) My recollection is that this person experienced a lot of leaks of their videos, causing them to take stricter and stricter measures in an effort to stop that, which culminated in them leaving altogether. Them leaving along with the two above contributed in some part to the dearth of bootlegs you see in the... late 2010s or so, at least with Phantom, because they were some of the most prolific filmers around. It wouldn't be until after COVID-19 that I saw a resurgence of filmers on Broadway.
Going back in time a bit! If you ever look at trading lists, you might see that there are a lot, and I mean a lot, of videos from the Broadway production of Phantom from 2012-2015 or so. That's almost entirely due to two filmers who were also very active on Tumblr and were based in NYC and went quite often to catch various understudies, swings, and unusual cast combinations. Both have since left filming, though in their case, it's at least partially because they're working in the theater industry in some capacity now.
And onto more depressing cases... there were a couple of filmers based in Europe, I think Germany or Austria, though they definitely made trips to other countries. They filmed several of the Phantom Hamburg revival videos, a lot of Elisabeth videos, and a number of the West End Les Miserables videos (if you see one that's heavily focused on Anton Zetterholm - yeah, that's one of theirs, that filmer was a fan). Unfortunately both were... I think either arrested or had their homes raided (or both) and collections confiscated, and while I think they were released, you can bet that put them off filming.
Finally and most recently, that I know of, the filmer who got the one complete video of Jonathan Roxmouth in the World Tour was caught and has not done any filming since, obviously. That was a shame as well because they had been planning to get more videos of the World Tour with the various alternates and understudies, but of course that never happened.
So that's a few, there's way more around, but I was just trying to think of some of the most prolific recorders around.

Broadway Divas Tournament: Round 1B
When Suffs opens previews later this month, Emily Skinner (1970) will have ten Broadway shows to her name. Best known (and Tony-nominated) for being attached to Alice Ripley's hip in Side Show (1997), Emily isn't afraid to take bit parts that squander her talents (looking at you, New York, New York (2022)). She made her Broadway debut in Jekyll & Hyde where, during previews, she had her own Singin' in the Rain moment when she provided the vocals for star Linda Eder during her bout of laryngitis.
Another ten-show Diva, Judy Kuhn (1958) is a four-time Tony nominee for tumblr-favorites such as Les Miserables (1987), Chess (1988), She Loves Me (1994), and most recently Fun Home (2015). Booked and busy, she has featured in two Classic Stage Company off-Broadway shows since 2021, and will appear in the Encores! Titanic concert this June. She is the singing voice for Disney's Pocahontas.
PROPAGANDA AND MEDIA UNDER CUT:
youtube
"Emily Skinner's cabaret act is entitled "A Broad with a Broad Mind" and it's accurate as all hell. She has that bold and brassy voice that's a rare commodity in today's Broadway's climate, and I, for one, want to see more of her in larger roles. New York, New York was a travesty all around, but specifically for how it didn't allow her to do much of anything, much less show off her vocal talents."
youtube
"submitting some hopefully not-as-obvious judy kuhn propaganda <3 singing "nobody's side" in 2018 (!!!!) her "meadowlark," an all-timer an astonishing live performance of "colors of the wind" she is literally ill and sounds like this!!!" - Submitted by @phyllisrogersstan

What type of musical theater soundtracks were you into
It was very basic like⊠2015-2017 musical theatre taste. My favorites were (and likely still are) Great Comet of 1812, Falsettos, Les Miserables, and Spring Awakening. Les Mis was the go to soundtrack whenever we had visitation with my dad, Spring Awakening was what I would listen to each night to fall asleep.

New article: The Day of the Jackal: Who is Eddie Redmayne?
As he takes on the role of the ultimate assassin, hereâs everything you need to know about The Day of the Jackalâs leading man, Eddie Redmayne.
Who is Eddie Redmayne?
Eddie Redmayne, born in 1982, is a British actor born and raised in London, England.
His great-grandfather, Sir Richard Redmayne, was a civil and mining engineer, credited for his work in improving mine safety and for his advocacy of the benefits of a five-day working week on employees, helping make weekends a more standard practice.
Wanting to perform from an early age, he attended Jackie Palmer Stage School from the age of 10 and made his screen debut in an episode of kids TV series Animal Ark in 1998.
He later landed a music scholarship at the esteemed Eton College, attending the same year as Prince William.
Going on to study at Cambridge University, he made his professional debut as an actor at Shakespeareâs Globe in 2003 in a production of Twelfth Night.
From that point on, he established himself as one to watch on the British stage and later pivoted to film, where he took on dramatic roles in films including 2007âs Elizabeth: The Golden Age, The Other Boleyn Girl and The Yellow Handkerchief in 2008, and My Week with Marilyn in 2011.
In 2012, Redmayne grew international acclaim for portraying Marius in Tom Hooperâs Les Miserables, and two years later landed his first Oscar for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in biopic The Theory of Everything.
He continues to act on both stage and screen, earning another Oscar nomination in 2015 for his role of Lili Elbe in The Danish Girl, and leading the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them franchise as Newt Scamander.
The Day of the Jackal is his first major TV role in 12 years.
On stage, he has most recently led revivals of Cabaret in the West End and Broadway, starring as the elusive and mysterious Emcee.
He has been married to wife Hannah Bagshawe since 2014, and together they have two children.
Who does Eddie Redmayne play in The Day of the Jackal?
The Jackal is a notorious assassin who lives a normal double life away from his murderous career path.
A natural chameleon, The Jackal has an innate ability to blend in with a crowd and change his appearance at will, meaning his targets never see him coming.
He is a man who prefers to work alone, considering each of his missions an art form.
Little is known about the character as weâre introduced to him, with his ability to camouflage himself leaving him free to do his work undetected.
The role was portrayed by Edward Fox in the 1973 movie adaptation of the story.
Find out more about the other cast and characters from The Day of the Jackal here.
Where have I seen Eddie Redmayne before?
Eddie Redmayne has become one of the most sought-after British stars in the world, with an enviable list of previous projects.
Here are some of his most notable roles to date:
My Week With Marilyn (2011) - Colin Clark
Based on the memoir of Colin Clark, My Week With Marilyn follows the aspiring filmmaker as he travels to London in 1956 to land a job with the celebrated Laurence Olivier.
Landing a position on The Prince and The Showgirl, Colin finds himself working as an assistant and pseudo-protector of the iconic Marilyn Monroe (played by Michelle Williams), who is having trouble in her personal life and marriage to Arthur Miller.
Across a fateful week, Colin and Marilyn grow closer as the Hollywood star adjusts to England, her current life, and her work with Olivier.
Les Miserables (2012) - Marius Pontmercy
Based on the book by Victor Hugo, Les Miserables is an adaptation of the musical of the same name.
Redmayne plays Marius Pontmercy, a compassionate young man who is a member of the revolutionary group, Friends of the ABC.
He instantly falls in love with Cosette, the adopted daughter of leading man Jean Valjean, upon meeting her.
This causes the heartbreak of his best friend Eponine, who is secretly in love with him.
Devoted to both his cause and his love, Marius is torn on his loyalties as the revolution turns violent and he leads the rebels on the barricades.
The Theory of Everything (2014) - Stephen Hawking
This biographical drama depicts the early life and first marriage of the legendary Stephen Hawking, detailing his work, health, and romantic life.
First meeting Hawking as an astrophysics student at the University of Cambridge, he meets young literature student Jane Wilde and falls in love.
Together, they will navigate the success of his career and his diagnosis with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive form of motor neurone disease that leads to slurred speech, muscle stiffness, and difficulty breathing.
The incurable and eventually fatal disease would eventually confine Hawking to a wheelchair, where he would communicate via a computer for the rest of his life.
The show is based on the 2007 memoir Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen written by Jane, who married Hawking in 1965.
The Theory of Everything is available now on Sky and NOW.
The Danish Girl (2015) - Lili Elbe
The Danish Girl is a story loosely inspired by the lives of Danish painter Lili Elbe â who became one of the first recorded people to have gender-affirming surgery.
Liliâs story inspired the novel of the same title by David Ebershoff.
Starting the story in the mid-1920s, The Danish Girl tracks the awakening of Liliâs transgender identity.
Married to portrait artist Gerda Wegener (Alicia Vikander), Lili comes out as transgender after posing as a woman for one of her wifeâs paintings.
The film tracks the barriers Lili had to face in order to get the surgery, and the support Gerda was throughout the transition.
The Danish Girl is available now on Sky and NOW
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) - Newt Scamander
An extension of the Harry Potter Wizarding World, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them follows Newt Scamander decades before the original Harry Potter series.
Newt is a âmagizoologistâ who travels the globe to document the wizarding worldâs magical creatures but finds himself in trouble in 1926 New York City when his suitcase gets into the wrong hands, with animals let loose across the human city.
Now heâs on a mission to gather them all or risk exposing the entire wizarding world â but as he does so, he finds himself dealing with growing unrest that could prove a more devastating threat on the world as they know it.
The franchise has since had two more installments: Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald in 2016, and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore in 2018.
The Trial of the Chicago Seven (2020) - Tom Hayden
Based on true events that occurred in 1968, The Trial of the Chicago Seven follows seven men as they are arrested and charged with "crossing state lines" to incite a riot during an anti-Vietnam protest at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
As the trial gets underway, it becomes apparent the judge has a prejudice against them, with ongoing issues, stunts, and uncovering of brutality turning the courtroom into a circus.
The film was widely praised and was even nominated for six Oscars, including Best Picture, at the 2021 Academy Awards, as well as three Baftas and five Golden Globes.
The Trial of the Chicago Seven is available to watch on Netflix....
The Day of the Jackal coming 7 November exclusively on Sky Atlantic and NOW.
