really frustrating that sir arthur conan doyle created sherlock holmes as a detective who used scientific, rational deduction so that the reader could follow along in each step, only to have, 120 or so years later, this stupid ass show undo all of that so that the writers could feel… i don’t know. cool or smug or something. it flies completely in the face of what the holmes novels were intended to be— for the everyman, so that we could follow along at home and be included in the process.

i also feel like making holmes a ““sociopath”” also flies in the face of a century and a half of development of this character as maybe a little weird, unorthodox, and a bit of a little stinker at times, but not a total asshole.

anyways peter cushing as holmes will always be my favorite bc i feel like he does a very good job portraying him in a way that’s human and compassionate, albeit strange

Just finished rewatching the Guy Richie Sherlock Holmes films and let me tell you they are still Extremely Gay. And I am reminded of what a good pairing Moriarty/Moran is. Intellectual High Society Professor / Disgraced Military Sharpshooter, both ruthless high achievers, the gentleman and his loyal dog trope. When Moriarty is pinned under the fallen building and Moran runs over to him and Moriarty tells him to go after Holmes and Moran looks genuinely angry and shaken "I'll get them" *chefs kiss*
