i have been thinking so much lately abt the 2011 west end stage version of frankenstein and im so mad at it. the entire message of this adaptation is villianizing of the creature. and if thats the purpose of the adaptation, WHY WAS BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH USING AUTISTIC CHILDREN AS HIS BASIS ON HOW TO POTRAY THE CREATURE WHEN YOU ARE PORTRAYING HIM AS EVIL???

moana 2 absolutely is not the first time disney has made a sequel out of episodes of a TV show but it is the first time they had walt disney animation studios make it (99% of disney sequels before this were outsourced to disneytoon studios which is why they were so low-budget and often very cheap-looking) and the first time they put that thing IN THEATERS (the sequels from disneytoon studios were always direct-to-video). things like cinderella 2, belle's magical world, atlantis 2, even the little mermaid 2 aren't part of the disney animated canon because they aren't WDAS features and can be ignored by disney. i don't think people who play the characters at the parks are even required to know about them. moana 2 is a first in some really weird ways and i'm so disappointed in everything i've been hearing about it
#the only sequels that are actually made directly by WDAS are#the rescuers down under/fantasia 2000/winnie the pooh 2011/ralph breaks the internet/frozen 2 and now moana 2#if i'm not forgetting anything. and you may have your opinions on the quality of those but notice how only one is a frankensteined tv show#and then disneytoon studios DID do some good stuff like a goofy movie and piglet's big movie but they also made every cheap sequel#until now. when the main studio made a cheap sequel film that COULD'VE been a solid tv series#i haven't seen it yet but everyone hates it which is exactly what i expected and i'm so sad#star.txt

Forty Days of Frankenstein, Day Forty: And here we are, day forty. Don’t despair, though. Between tomorrow and Hallowe’en, I’ll be sharing some late-breaking Frankensteins I found just this year (in my neverending Frankenquest) that were too late to make the first round. Tonight, though, I bring you something extra special. If you care at all about Frankenstein, you should see this if you ever get a chance. If you only see one modern Frankenstein interpretation, see this one (hard to believe it’s already 12 years old). Back in 2011, director Danny Boyle brought Nick Dear’s script for Frankenstein to the Royal National Theatre stage in London. Starring in it were Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller—but with a twist. In a mind-bending tour-de-force, the two actors alternated between playing Victor Frankenstein and the Creature! From time to time this gets a re-release to cinemas, even though it was originally live on stage. Frustratingly, so far, none of the powers-that-be will release it to home video, so just keep an eye out!

I'm convinced that that if Kenneth "I will have my actors portray every emotion and motivation to the absolute maximum extent of sincerity" Branagh and Hans "I will make this shot of a man driving his truck while crying the most musically overwhelming and significant thing you have ever experienced" Zimmer ever teamed up, the audience would just straight up be vaporized in their seats by the sheer drama of it all.

David tennant could do anything Benedict Cumberbatch has done and make it charming. And not be ableist while he does it
#I know this is stupid but it came to me in a dream#also I know it’s old news at this point but I’m still mad that cucumberpatch said that shit about autistics#AND the way he did movement work for Frankenstein (2011#national theater live#)

Ok this post was delayed because i was sitting next to my cat because she was lonely and then i fell asleep (peaceful world) but the thing about WebP. WebP is a COMPLETELY FINE FILE FORMAT, in fact, its compression leads to much smaller file sizes than PNGs, which means that pages using WebP images load MUCH faster on bad connections than they would if they used PNG files! This is a good thing! Objective good! (they are called "Web"ps because they are for the web!)
The issue with it is that somehow their adoption is extremely lopsided, so they're EVERYWHERE online, but it's disproportionately inaccessible to create or edit one without having to go through a bunch of file converters that will probably lead to data degradation if you have to keep going through them. So the real question is "Why is almost every program apparently so opposed to adding support/export options for a now extremely widespread image format that's existed since 2010????" Like you have had time? Why does trying to open a webp on my computer open Microsoft Edge instead of the photo viewer. What excuse could there possibly be for this.
#i don't think it being a google invention is even an obstacle. Open source game engine godot has webp support.#and there was that paint.net plugin that existed since 2011.#i think google would clearly want people to support their file format otherwise what was it for#but the only art program i know that apparently has webp support by default is photoshop#and i had to look up that it had that. nobody mentions it#mypost#also yes webps are a bit lossy but that's the point.#not every webpage needs Extreme Full Quality Nothing Lost PNGs#in fact i'd argue that most don't need them.#think of webps as like the middle point between jpgs and pngs#except leaning more to the png side and also they can be animated like gifs#theyre like a frankenstein...
