They leave Edens with Neil still silent and blank faced and it's only when they pull up to the house and everyone starts to climb out of the car that Andrew puts a hand over Neil's.

"Stay." he says.

Neil nods and doesn't leave the car. They watch as the other three clamber into the house and shut the door behind them. Then Andrew puts the car in reverse and heads out back into the night with Neil.

After fighting for my life in between 12 hour shifts, I have somehow managed to clear most of my backlog. I only have one more week pending :D Phew.

All recent WIPs from RRR because that's what has consumed my brain.

1. Ram patches Bheem up after the flogging: This is my favourite (and longest!) of all my WIPs and I would love to publish it soon. What it says on the tin. Missing scene. Canon compliant. Hurt, angst and slight (????) comfort.

2. Rambheem first kiss: Hey, remember when I said that this was tooth rotting fluff? With only slight angst? Well, turns out, this has a lot of angst now. No, I don't know how it happened either. Chapter 1 is Pre Naatu Naatu. Chapter 2 is post movie. Pining. Canon compliant. Ram is an oblivious idiot

3. Bheem's thoughts after the betrayal: What it says on the tin. Angst, angst, angst and more angst. There isn't enough Bheem trauma fics in the fandom and I am here to fix that

4. Aftermath of Bheem's arrest: Fucktons of angst and Ram being emo and self destructive as usual

5. Ram's guilt about the flogging: What it says on the tin. Post movie. Angst with comfort

These are hella late but here are my sentences for 7/31 :)

“Ah, I see. And what exactly would I be telling him?”

“Riko is getting out of control. He sent some of the freshman Ravens over to Palmetto to kill one of our players.”

“Are you absolutely sure?”

“Yes. the player who was attacked saw who it was and I’m sure there’s a paper trail that leads back to the side branch if not to Riko himself.”

“Alright, I’ll check it out and relay your message. Is there anything else?”

“Thank you, and no, there’s nothing else right now.”

“Very well then, I’ll let you go.”

“Bye,” Neil says, and hangs up the phone, handing it back to Andrew.

He pockets the phone, leans back on his elbows and stares out at the parking lot. Neil doesn’t feel like going back inside so he sits with Andrew and stares at him, admiring how the sun lights up his hair and makes his eyes glow gold.

Neil finishes signing his email, heart pounding in his ears and sends it off before he can think about it too much. He quickly closes his laptop and leans back in his chair, folding his arms behind his head and then takes a few calming breaths.

He does this until he feels his heart slow and gets up to get ready for the day. 

Neil barely makes it through his first class; the professor monotonically goes over the syllabus and then keeps them there for another half hour talking about himself and how he ended up in ‘such a fine establishment’. He resorts to alternating between drawing on the handout given to them at the start of class and stabbing himself in the thigh with a pen.

He meets up with Jean for a late lunch and they both talk about how their classes are going so far.

“I’m just saying, that class is shit. I don’t understand why we need to take it.” Neil says, referring to his undergraduate studies class.

“We have to take it because someone,” Jean replies, stabbing a piece of broccoli with his fork, and then pointing it at Neil, “wanted to explore Europe instead of going to college when we graduated.”

“Whatever,” Neil says, swatting the broccoli away. “It's not like I made you come with me.”

“True, but irrelevant. Besides, if you had gone on your own, who would have been there to take care of you after all of the times you got into fights and needed patching up.”

“I could have done it myself or gone to a clinic,” Neil says, already knowing he’s going to lose this argument.

“Bullshit. I’ve never met someone who hates hospitals more than you do. Also I’ve seen you try to patch yourself up, you’re pretty shit at it.”

“Alright, Alright,” Neil says, putting his hands up in surrender, “you win.”

Lola wastes no time getting into his space, knife in hand, crowding him even more into the car door. 

“So, Junior,” Lola says, like she’s gossiping with a friend, “I’ve just got to know, where’d Mary run off to?” She presses the tip of the knife into his cheek when he doesn’t immediately answer, just enough to draw a drop of blood. 

Nathaniel doesn’t flinch despite the pain he feels and replies, “Like I’d ever tell you that.”

“Maybe,” Lola says, “but I have a feeling you’ll tell me sooner or later.”

Nathaniel wants to question how she plans to do that, but keeps his smart mouth shut, his mind already coming up with multiple ways that she could.

Aaron can tell he’s struck a nerve, the bulging veins on either side of Hill’s forehead giving away just how much he has. 

Halsey steps between them, redirecting Hill’s attention to him and Aaron takes the chance to give Kevin a once over.

Aaron hadn’t thought much of him when he first walked in, having been more focused on Hill. However, now that he’s really looking, he notices how muscular Kevin’s arms are, his jade-green eyes and how he towers over most of the people in the room, including himself.

Aaron turns his attention back to Hill and Halsey, “I look forward to seeing you in class,” Hill says, but Aaron can tell he is still pissed from earlier despite the smile he wears.

He glares at Hill until he’s gone and turns his attention back to Halsey who checks his watch, “I’ve got to go, there’s a call I need to make. Kevin, could you please show Mr.Minyard the Emergency room.”

“Of course, I was on my way over there anyway,” Kevin says.

Aaron gives Kevin his full attention now that Halsey is gone, “You sure know what to say to impress important people huh?”

“I assume you mean Hill.”

Yeah, he’s a pain in the ass but he’s got a lot of influence here. Let me guess, you’re taking Dr.Hill’s class?”

“Yep.”

“Well, if I were you, I’d tone down the animosity. Getting an F in his class is like a bad review from the New York Times; it’ll ruin your career before it even begins.”

for my lovers out there, here is a snippet of a mob boss!alex x prostitute!henry fic i've been cooking up. working title: the king of new york and his princess

Eyes follow his every movement as Alex strides over to the bar and orders a whiskey neat and two dirty martinis. He scopes the crowd with his coffee-whiskey eyes, a king taking in his empire. Drinks now in hand, the trio part ways, making their way through the throngs of New York City’s finest like a shiver of great white sharks, sniffing out blood and hoping to go straight for a kill.  Henry doesn’t think for a moment that he would be the one lost in those shark-infested waters, but he should have realized sooner. He has been groomed by the hands of Jeffrey Richards to become prey to an apex predator after all.  “What are you doing here all alone, sweetheart?” A voice rumbles softly into his ear, and Henry turns, nearly jumping out of his skin, and sees Alexander Claremont-Diaz beside him, casually sipping whiskey out of his tumbler of crystal. Henry takes him in and the cool, easy-going line of his body as he leans against the wall Henry has pressed himself against for the past half-hour. His outfit is similar to his own, but there are touches of flair that allude to the power and wealth hidden behind the boring tux: a Rolex on his wrist, cufflinks that shine under the lowlight, and a golden rose pinned to his lapel.  He looks exquisite, and it is evident that Alex knows it, too.

“Mistress!” Flora cried, taking a step closer as Alastor snarled and sank his teeth deeper into my arm. A shiver passed through me when I felt his teeth meet the sudden resistance of bone. “It’s alright,” I said, taking a deep breath through the pain. “It’s alright.” I was saying it as much to myself as I was to them. “Leave us, Flora.” “But Mistress,” she said, her voice thick with fear as she stared at Alastor. “Go,” I said more firmly, gritting my teeth as he began to chew on my forearm. When the last of the servants left the room, I reached up with the arm that was not currently trapped in Alastor’s jaws and rested my fingers on his head. “It’s alright,” I said, gently touching his ear. It flicked back and away, but I persisted, stroking my fingers through his matted, filthy fur. He went perfectly still; not even gnawing on me anymore. My fingertips kept moving, and between the throbbing pain in my arm and the wild look in his eyes, time seemed to pass with agonizingly slowly. Finally, Alastor fixed his red eyes on mine, then slowly loosened his teeth from my flesh. He began to lick the blood from my arm, prehensile tongue cleaning the black streaks and droplets from my skin. If he were any other creature, I would have thought it a gesture of contrition, but I was quite certain he just liked the taste. Royal blood was doubtlessly novel to him, and I raised my eyebrow as he eyed my slowly healing arm again, licking his lips.

Yes! I really appreciate when readers take the time to post a comment, so I always answer at least with a brief "thank you".

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Defintiely the whole Closer series (LotR, Frodo/Éomer) because it is mostly canon compliant, so it ends with Frodo going into the West. 😭My Rough Sex series (The Boys, Butcher/Hughie) is also fairly angsty by its nature as a series of mildly canon divergent gap filler fics following through the episodes of S1 and S2 (so far).

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I think pretty much anything apart from the above two series? Well, apart from the Struck by a Bolt series (The Boys, Butcher/Hughie), which has the potential to go either way.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I haven't gotten outright hate, but certainly a few rude/entitled/"clearly hasn't read the tags or the end note despite me recommending to in the a/n at the beginning" comments.

9. Do you write smut? What kind?

LOL! All kinds. Soft, kinky (probably more kinky), some a bit dark. I seem to enjoy my ships a little fucked up.

10. Do you write cross-overs?

I don't have a proper crossover on my AO3 (see #12 for the reason why I specify it like this), though I'd love to write one sometime since I love reading them. The closest I've come is Kinktober Day 15: Monster Fucking (The Boys, Butcher/Hughie), which is heavily Beauty and the Beast inspired.

11. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes! Little Brother was translating Private Tutor into Russian, though they haven't updated it in a while.

12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Oh yes! In fact, the first fics I posted online were cowritten with two (originally three, but one of then dropped out shortly after we'd started) friends, though under a different pen name and in a crossover of two small fandoms (with additional ones sneaking in here and there). I haven't written for that series in at least 15 years, though I still have fairly extensive notes for a trilogy of stories centered around my OC and I'd love to get back to that eventually.

But more recently, I've cowritten Line Without a Hook with erraticallyinspired (holyfudgemonkeys), who afaik isn't on Tumblr, and An Addams Family Guide to Kidnapping with @nonamemanga. I'm currently working on something with @suchaladyy, and who knows what and who will be next? It's a lot of fun!

13. What WIP would you like to finish but doubt you ever will?

Oof! I only have unpublished WIPs which I'm not sure if I'll ever get to finish them. Mostly for LotR.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

I really can't choose. Go look at my bookmarks on AO3, LOL!

15. What are your writing strengths?

Oh boy. Um. I think I've figured out quite well how to show character through smut, as well as to distinguish characters from one another by how they behave and talk.

16. What are your writing weaknesses?

Hmm... Sometimes I get bogged down in details, though I've gotten much better at catching myself now. Oh, paragraphs of really long sentences, but again, I've improved a lot there. 😆

17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Absolutely, as long as I'm confident in the language or have someone who's a native/fluent speaker to help me with it.

18. First fandom you wrote for?

Are we talking wrote for myself, or published? Because I started as a teenager in the 80s, writing your typical Mary Sue self-inserts starring my favorite celebs, like Nick Rhodes from Duran Duran, by hand on notepads...

19. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?

20. What fic would you want to rewrite one day?

There's one story from my first cowriting experience I mentioned in #12 that I would dearly love to rewrite because the constant POV changes are driving me nuts when I read it now! I don't think there's anything that's currently on my AO3 that I feel the need to rewrite.

RRR has consumed my brain so all recent WIPs are from there. Same as last week.

1. Bheem's thoughts after the betrayal: What it says on the tin. Angst, angst, angst and more angst. There isn't enough Bheem trauma fics in the fandom and I am here to fix that

2. Aftermath of Bheem's arrest: Fucktons of angst and Ram being emo and self destructive as usual

3. Inspired: Bheem still has nightmares about the events at Delhi. He and Ram talk. Angst with comfort

4. Chocolate: Dosti era. Ram introduces Bheem to chocolate :D :D :D Pure, self indulgent fluff

Bheem stared right back at him, unbent, undaunted, unrepentant. A corner of his parched lips lifted up in a mockery of a smile. He bared his teeth like a tiger bared its maw. Despite the shackles binding him, he managed to draw himself to his full height, towering over Ram for a brief second, goading him with the fire in his eyes, before the other officers unlocked his shackles and pulled him back by the ropes.

Ram's stomach sank and his blood turned into ice as one thing became clear to him.

Bheem will sacrifice his blood, but not his dignity.

They pulled him till his back hit the post and oh, oh, there it was. The hurt, the sorrow, the anguish on his face. The tears brimming in his eyes and rolling down his cheeks. The confusion. The unspoken question on his lips- why?

This… this was so much worse than his cold defiance. Ram could bear his disgust, his rage, his hatred but he could not suffer his pain. Bheem's pain was the worst thing in the world.

The Englishman on his left struck Bheem on the face with the heavy butt of his rifle, causing a thick stream of blood to flow out of his mouth and a fresh wound to open high on his cheek. The one on his right bludgeoned his rifle into his stomach. Bheem bent over, coughing and throwing up another mouthful of blood, his eyes unfocused and his mouth slack.

But the stubborn fool did not kneel.

Ram's fist tightened around the whip. Not for the first time today, he wished he was splitting white skin instead of brown.

Whhpssht.

But of course, it was the blood of his beloved he was spilling instead.

He pulled the whip back, ripping bits and pieces of Bheem's flesh from his tattered back. A spray of blood hit him on the face. Selfishly, so fucking selfishly, Ram thanked his luck because wiping the blood gave him the opportunity to surreptitiously wipe away the errant drop of tear from the corner of his eye.

1. What are 3 things that shaped who you are?

Well I’d say the first one would be my childhood. I’ll spare you the details but it wasn’t great, but it did provide me with the motivation to do something more with my life.

Second would be my first semester of undergrad. I moved away across the country to somewhere I’d never been and made some of the most amazing friends ever. I finally found a place I could truly be myself.

And third would be my experience in grad school, which was definitely tough (in a multitude of ways) but through this struggle I was able to learn what I really want out of life.

5. What made you start your blog?

I originally started this blog in Summer 2022 (yay 2 years!) after having previous blogs since 2012ish? But I started this blog mostly because I wanted somewhere to talk about the Elder Scrolls and none of my friends are into it! So having somewhere to put all my ocs and ideas was a great outlet.

6. What’s the best and worst part of being online/a creator?

The best part about being online for me is making people laugh and seeing the cool conversations that happen in the tags/replies! I also luke the friends I’ve made and look forward to WIP Wednesday every week ❤️

The worst part I would say is rude people. Luckily this doesn’t happen often but I’ve had a few incidents that left me feeling like I shouldn’t talk about certain things (particularly Morrowind lore/hcs) so I just avoid some stuff now.

14. What’s something you’ve always wanted to do but maybe been too scared to do?

Something I’ve always wanted to do was learn to make clothes. I tried once to make a dress with a pattern but I don’t think it was the right time. I had to print of the pattern, it was hard to figure out the sizes. I’d like to try again because I had a lot of ideas (nearly went to school for fashion instead) and so many clothes now are kind of just shit and made by people who aren’t paid enough; so I’d like to just do it myself 🥰

24. What’s one thing you’re proud of yourself for?

I’m deeply proud of myself for moving away from home. I’m in town for the first time in 2 years for s wedding and I see why I left. I don’t even want to be here now as it’s bringing back old memories. I’m proud of 18 year old me who planned her escape and built a nice life for herself.
