Wrestlemania Main Event Reviews - Wrestlemania XXXIII
Roman Reigns def. The Undertaker in a No Holds Barred Match in 23:00
Roman is out first and gets a chorus of boos! He doesn’t have any contact lenses by this point though! He looks great without them I think, though they definitely gave him a smouldering gaze! Undertaker is out next and he looks menacing! I mean hard not to with his attire and pyro and all that but that’s by-the-by. The ramp is very long so he’s at this for a while, but it’s the same arena as his last Wrestlemania main event!
Undertaker is on top with offense straight off the bat, throwing Taker from pillar to post! JR says this will be a measure of who’s body gives out on them first. Roman is sent outside twice and comes back in with some strikes, clotheslining Taker outside. Taker drags him outside and launches Roman into the steps. They head back inside and Roman gets him up for a Samoan Drop. Roman is on top here as Taker steps outside. He slowly hits some strikes to Roman, and attempts to send Roman into the ring post with Snake Eyes, but Roman counters and sends him into it, then hits a Drive-By. Back inside, they exchange strikes and stare off after a stalemate. Taker Irish whips Roman into the corner, clothesline, Snake Eyes, big boot, leg drop, 2-count. On the outside, Roman goes for another Drive-By and gets caught with a punch. Taker toys with Roman but gets hit with a dropkick. He goes for a Drive-By on the announce table but gets caught with a chokeslam onto it! Taker gets up on the announce table, but gets speared through another by Roman Reigns as he taunts! Brutal! Roman goes inside the ring and mouths off, and Taker sits up! He comes back into the ring and Roman stomps on him in the corner. He repeatedly hits hammer strikes from Roman and then mounted punches in the corner, but Taker hits a less than elegant Last Ride for a 2-count! Taker grabs a chair, which Roman pounces on when he enters the ring, but Taker takes him down with a big boot! He hits Roman with the steel chair repeatedly and lines up for a chokeslam onto it, but Roman powders.
Roman baits Taker and hits a Superman Punch, then another, but Taker catches a third with a chokeslam on the chair! He hits a Tombstone Piledriver but Roman kicks out! Taker goes for Snake Eyes, Roman tries to counter into a Tombstone, but they fumble twice with it before Roman decides to hit a Superman Punch. Not great. He hits a spear but as he heads over, Reigns gets locked into an awkward Hell’s Gate! Roman gets the rope (but it is a no DQ match, though Michael Cole does make a good point on commentary that the pin or submission must happen in the ring. Taker reaches for the chair but Reigns puts his foot down on it and then wails on Taker with it. The crowd is silent for this, which might be a pained silence, as they quickly chant for Undertaker after this. Roman hits a spear, but Taker kicks out! Roman sets up and hits another spear, but Taker kicks out again! Roman emotionally hits a Superman Punch and then Taker sits up, but falls down. He tries to pull himself up on Roman who pushes him away, Roman comes off the ropes with strikes, then bounces off the ropes to gain momentum as the Undertaker tries to keep up with turning, hits him with a spear, and wins.
Roman stoically celebrates and leaves the ring to Taker, who leaves his entrance gear in the ring as he walks off, raising an arm as he descends on the ramp, which goes on for 10 minutes apparently! It flew by watching live! Emotional stuff.
Pros: Table spot, emotional ending, stipulation helped Cons: Taker struggled, awkward and botchy
This match was good for what it was, but Taker just couldn’t perform like he once could here. Understandably, his age and his injuries caught up to him. This match definitely has an emotional end that was extremely impactful at the time, which would have upped its rating, but with how Taker’s career would continue so soon after this, the emotional weight of a well done ending was diminished a good deal. This with the awkward nature of a lot of this match makes it sadly not as powerful. If this was his final match, or at least his last proper match in the ring, this match may have been more well-received from the ending alone. There was still some good stuff though, and the match was enjoyable enough.

Rise of the Snakes - React, pt 1
Rise of the Snakes
00:13 Yo Wu, chill. Just because you're the son of basically god you don't gotta be this dramatic. Leave that to Garmadon, he's better at it anyway
1:05 Ayo, was that the Sacred Flute in that little cabinet Wu's meditating in front of?
1:11 That is a lot of cobwebs
1:29 Is this also a Milton Dyer game?
1:53 Excuse me did Kai's voice just come out of Cole's mouth?
2:02 So the Ninja like pepperoni and black olive pizza, apparently
4:31 How far is Jamanakai Village if it takes them this long to fly there on dragonback but Nya just walks on over in a short enough time there's still daylight during the same day when Lloyd comes back with Serpentine?
5:40 Love that the main character of this entire series was named for a pun
5:54 How common knowledge is Lloyd's existence if Cole already knew he was at Darkly's Boarding School for Bad Boys?
6:27 Why are the Serpentine treated like this ancient legen if they were only put in the tombs like forty years ago?
7:30 Love how Kai says 'muchacho' and then him speaking apparently Spanish is never brought up again
7:58 ...and that was Cole's voice coming from Kai's mouth. They're just swapping voices today
9:06 And Kai's words from Cole's mouth again. What communication breakdown happened between the VAs recording and the animators?
9:59 So if the Hypnobrai line with Ice, and the Constrictai line with Earth, the frick are the Venomari, Fangpyres, and Anacondrai supposed to be?
10:01 Also why are Lloyd's teeth green in this lighting?
10:33 We've seen instances where Hypnobrai hypnotism happens almost immediately, so why does literally nothing happen to Lloyd even though he's maintained eye contact with Slithraa for a good 20 seconds?
10:58 What is the aging process like for Serpentine? Why are there always tiny snakes that match the features of the Serpentine? Do they hatch from eggs, be little snakes for a bit, then spontaneously grow arms and legs? Will someone please explain this?
11:29 If Nya's close to beating Kai's speed record on the training course, shouldn't she figure out Spinjitzu way sooner than whenever she actually does in the show? Might need to fix that in mine, since Misako's shown to do Spinjitzu without having access to elemental powers.
11:59 How early into the show did Nya start working on the Samurai concept?
13:40 Kai having issues controlling his sword is because dragon = stronger elemental connection
13:50 I love the detail that the fire makes a protective/possessive circle around Kai
14:38 Knowing about Morro makes Wu's saltiness about the Green Ninja shenanigans that much more painful
15:41 To Scales's point though you snakes cannot digest large amounts of sugar
16:10 Does the spirit smoke tell the present, or the future? Because we kinda see it doing both. Also does this mean Wu gets high?
17:35 ...aside from the General, do they have tails?
17:52 How the frick did Nya know the antivenin was in the staff? I get her figuring out Slithraa's the general, but were the Hypnobrai just outright stating 'the cure's in the staff, better not let the villagers get ahold of it'?
19:14 Where is Scales's rattle? Because snake man does not have a tail at this juncture.
19:50 Nothing to see here, just polluting the water supply for the greater good
20:42 Are they foreshadowing Nya's the Samurai later this season or are they foreshadowing Nya's actually the Water Ninja four seasons from now?
Home
1:44 Why are they calling it a roof, it's a courtyard
3:43 Jay's off-and-on Brooklyn accent from early in the show is weird man
3:55 Zane's probably reminding Wu of Morro with the homeless, parentless child thing...
4:13 I'm sorry, are the dragons' reins directly affixed to their jaws?
6:13 Let the man wear his frilly pink apron in peace
7:32 Zane panting with his mouth shut, 100% robot over here
7:47 Mommy issues anyone?
9:00 I'm with Jay here, I'd want to keep the treehouse
9:30 Kai clearly attended the Jack Sparrow school of getting places
10:51 Good news for that unfortunate Hypnobrai, snakes don't really get concussed
10:32 Wilhelm Scream Counter: 1
11:00 Times Ninja have Turned Evil™: Cole: 1
11:38 Lloyd in a Cage™ Counter: 1 Alternatively, Times a Ninja Has Been Captured: Lloyd: 1
13:32 Times the Monastery has Burned Down: 1
14:39 Priorities, Jay, yeesh
17:39 Fang Kwan Do; so painfully underutilized.
21:31 Excuse me how the frick did Lloyd find them?
Snakebit
2:45 How does giving the cabin a steambath help exactly?
3:29 How did Ed and Edna know where their son was? This is like the morning after the monastery burned down, the frick
8:17 Why are the Fangpyres Transylvanian? I know it's because the vampire aesthetic, but like what would the in-story reason be? None of the other tribes seem to have accents other than maybe the Anacondra [because Pythor sounds British and I don't remember what Arcturus sounded like]
10:50 Does the bite of the Fangpyre affect other Serpentine?
11:08 Being bitten by the Fangpyres - the only time Jay and his parents shared DNA
11:24 That's rich Cole, considering you've been lying to your dad constantly for years
11:49 From this point onwards Kai, Zane, and Cole should've totally weaponized Nya as a motivational tool against Jay. Pretty sure most of the time Nya would agree with them.
12:05 I swear Wu ripped that thermometer off the side of a building, because where else do you find one that big. Also, considering he was walking around from behind the dragon, what kind of thermometer do you think it is?
12:11 Love the detail that the dragons are teenagers too
12:41 What's brilliant about this scene is it's impossible to tell if they were legitimately oblivious or intentionally screwing with Jay
13:23 Brilliant that Jay starts to get a slight Minnesotan accent when agitated; he's his parents' son
13:57 I repeat, can they turn Serpentine?
14:10 I know it's supposed to be creepy and snaky but all I can think of with the wrecking ball is an overripe jack-o-lantern
14:42 They each express it in different ways but I love how each of the Ninja has a protective streak a mile wide
14:52 Jay over here straight Matrix™ing the wrecking ball
15:05 Excuse me Nya was that a crotch shot there
16:12 Jay; Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass - Just Add Endangered Parents!
17:16 I'm with Jay here, half the plots in this show would not go nearly as catastrophically sideways as they do if Wu just told people shit
17:55 Jay gets a jet, Kai gets a motorcycle, Cole gets a dope car, Zane...gets a Zamboni. Or is it a Zaneboni?
18:42 So do they just immediately know how to drive the vehicles because they're in tune with the weapons, or are all these teenagers actually certified drivers? When did Kai learn how to ride a motorcycle if he's been running a business since he was 5?
19:41 Why did turning into a snake make Ed's goatee black?
20:47 They should totally make the dragon figurehead into a canon at some point in this show

Hear me out before you block me - by the numbers Disney Channel is past it’s peak. Not because the quality changed. Because the media landscape has changed.
You have the before times - ie before the machine of DC stars. You would hear that Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera were in the Mickey Mouse club, but that was never the main jumping off point for fame. You could have stars like Lindsey Lohan would did Disney theatrical movies to gain popularity. But then something changed.
Back in the early 00’s Disney Channel was producing tween and teen idols at an excessive rate. Using with the show + original movies + Disney-backed pop career formula used for Hillary Duff, DC created stars like Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Zac Effron, the Jonas brothers, Dylan and Cole Sprouse, Raven-Symoné, Demi Lovato, Brenda Song, Vanessa Hudgens, Bella Thorne, Ashley Tinsdale, Aly Michalka, etc. It was a powerhouse in tween and teen entertainment. Hannah Montana had songs in the charts. High school musical got a theatrical release for one of its sequels. Jonas bothers music was playing on the radio. DC had left the limits of network television behind. It was Launching the careers of celebrities who would continue in the industry for decades. All bowed down to the mouse.
And while younger fans have stars like Zendaya, Sabrina Carpenter, and Dove Cameron, the machine has definitely slowed down. Fewer DC stars are riding the Mickey Mouse train to success. In fact, most stars now do their best to diversify outside of their mouse projects early on. The only major hit that I can recall breaking into more “mainstream” areas is the Decedents series.
In the United States, back in 2014, the Disney Channel had almost 2,000,000 average viewers in the United States, but yearly declines in viewership persisted and by 2021 the network had just 233,000 average viewers across the year. There was a drop of 33% of total viewers between 2018 and 2019 alone.
Multiple sources stated that the premiere of High School Musical 2 had 17,241,000 viewers on August 17th, 2007 being ranked the most popular movie to be watched on it’s premiere date. Following High School Musical 2, at the top of the leader board is Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie with 11,433,000 viewers on August 28th, 2009.
So what do expects think is the mostly cause?? Easy - streaming media. As tween and teens watched more YouTube and streaming networks, Disney lost its grip on the younger generation. Disney+ is looking to correct this course, but it is unclear how successful the tween/teen centers of Disney+ are compared to other forms of internet consumption. Back in the Disney competed with other cable channels like Nickelodeon and with basic channels like pbs for kids after school entertainment. Now it competes with those older competitors as well as tiktok, YouTube, streaming sites (like Netflix), twitch, etc. The ball game has changed. It’s ability to hold a stranglehold on the market is gone.
So ya, Disney is falling off… but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It just means tweens/teens have more options and choose something that interests them more. If DC (or it’s Disney+ section) wants a come back, it’s going to have to improve and listen more to its targeted demographic
this was in response to a now deleted tweet by an adult about disney channel “falling off” and I think about it all the time when people my age complain about teen media

PRE-GAME: WOLF PACK CAN CLOSE OUT BRUINS TONIGHT
PRE-GAME REPORT: WOLF PACK LOOK TO CLOSE OUT SERIES AGAINST BRUINS AT XL CENTER By: Alex Thomas, Hartford Wolf Pack HARTFORD, CT – The Hartford Wolf Pack welcome the Providence Bruins to town tonight for Game 4 of their Atlantic Division Semifinals series. Thanks to an overtime victory in Game 3 on Wednesday night, the Wolf Pack lead the series 2-1 and can advance with a victory tonight. The puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m., and coverage is available on AHLTV and Mixlr. Tale of The Tape: The Wolf Pack and Bruins met ten times during the regular season, with each team winning five games. The Wolf Pack posted a record of 5-4-1-0, while the Bruins went 5-3-1-1. This is the seventh all-time Calder Cup Playoff series between the rivals and the second meeting in as many springs. Each team has claimed three of the first six series, with the Wolf Pack winning the last two in 2015 and 2023. Hartford took Game 1 by a final score of 4-3 last Wednesday night at the Amica Mutual Pavilion, but the Bruins struck back in a big way in Game 2, winning 6-0. Hartford returned fire in Game 3, winning 3-2 in overtime to take a 2-1 edge in the series. Marc McLaughlin opened the scoring 5:23 into the game, converting on a chance in the slot for his first career Calder Cup Playoff goal. Riley Nash answered back at 7:04, potting a loose puck from outside the crease. Adam Sýkora banked the puck off the legs of a defenseman to the front of the net, where Nash located it and fired it home. Brennan Othmann gave the Wolf Pack their first lead of the night at 8:39, burying a rebound for his first career Calder Cup Playoff goal on the powerplay. Jayson Megna equalized at 18:07, tipping in an Ian Mitchell shot for his second goal of the series. The final 40 minutes passed without a goal, as both Dylan Garand (14 saves) and Brandon Bussi (13 saves) held strong and forced overtime. In the extra session, Nash deflected a Blake Hillman shot from the point at 4:52 to give the Wolf Pack the 3-2 victory. Including the regular season, the Wolf Pack are 4-2-0-0 against the Bruins at the XL Center this season. Wolf Pack Outlook: Wednesday night’s overtime victory pushed the Wolf Pack to 2-0 in overtime during the 2024 Calder Cup Playoffs. Alex Belzile scored 8:11 into overtime in Game 2 against the Charlotte Checkers on April 27th during Hartford’s First Round series victory. Nash and Ryder Korczak led the way with three shots each in Game 3. Nash’s three-point (2 g, 1 a) outing is the second by a Wolf Pack player during the Calder Cup Playoffs. Tyler Pitlick recorded three points (1 g, 2 a) in Game 1 against the Bruins. For the second time in six Calder Cup Playoff games this spring, the Wolf Pack did not surrender a powerplay goal in Game 3. They went four-for-four on the penalty kill. Nash leads the Wolf Pack in both goals with four and points with six (4 g, 2 a) during the Calder Cup Playoffs. His four goals are tied for the most in the Calder Cup Playoffs with Tyler Madden of the Ontario Reign and Cole Schwindt of the Calgary Wranglers. Brett Berard leads the Wolf Pack in playoff assists with four through six games. Bruins Outlook: McLaughlin’s goal in Game 1 was the first Calder Cup Playoff goal of his career. John Farinacci picked up the primary assist, the first point of his Calder Cup Playoff career. After firing 20 shots on goal in the first period, the Bruins were held to just 15 shots over the game’s final 44:52 of play. Georgii Merkulov and Frederic Brunet led the Bruins with five shots each in Game 3. After killing the first seven powerplays for the Wolf Pack in the series, the Bruins went one-for-two on the penalty kill in Game 3. Megna, Vincent Arseneau, and Jimmy Lambert are tied for the team lead in goals with two each during the Calder Cup Playoffs. Merkulov’s three assists lead the team in that category. Hawks Nip Dawgs in OT Shootout
Hardin Valley Academy 2 (7-6) at Bearden 1
Friday, April 12, 2024 7pm
It took 100 minutes and nine rounds of a P.K. shootout for Hardin Valley to survive Bearden’s late, offensive onslaught, as the visiting Hawks eked out a 2-1 (7-6) overtime win in a Friday night showdown between the two District-4 powers.
The win broke a nine-year losing streak for Hardin Valley versus the Bulldogs. The determined Hawks set the tempo in the first half, scoring midway through the period on a lightning-fast cross and header from in close.
Bearden standout goalkeeper Logan Nelson kept his team in the game with several key saves as the Dawgs struggled to find their offensive momentum. With 15:02 remaining, Jack Raulston scored on a penalty kick after a Hardin Valley handball violation just inside the eighteen, leveling the score at 1-1.
At that point, the Bulldogs mounted a furious attack for the remainder of regulation and the two ten-minute sudden-death overtime periods, outshooting the Hawks 13-3, but could not find the back of the net, and the game went to the penalty shootout.
The entire Bearden side was outstanding throughout the hard-fought contest. Raulston was in constant ‘beast mode,’ risking numerous body parts as he battled fearlessly from start to finish. Noah Price was everywhere on the outside lane, winning balls and forcing the action. Cole Stopka was solid at middle back with timely defensive headers and forward Lucas Ford constantly pushed the ball into the scoring zone on the right side. GK Nelson served double duty as he netted the Bulldog’s fourth P.K. in the shootout, then blocked Hardin Valley’s fourth attempt, but unfortunately the Dawgs could not convert the next kick for the win in the initial 5-shot set.
Goals: HVA-Ben Brophy (18’, assist-Nathan Holbrook). BHS-Jack Raulston (65’, penalty kick). ***Hardin Valley wins shootout 7-6.
Shots/Shots-on-goal: BHS 22/9 HVA 14/8. Corner Kicks: BHS 6 HVA 3. Fouls: BHS 11 HVA 9. Offsides: BHS 2 HVA 1. Yellow Cards: BHS#5 (67’), HVA#11 (90’). Conditions: grass, damp, clearing skies, 55 degrees. Attendance: 506. Records: BHS 7-2-1 HVA 10-1-1.
Outside the box.........Friday’s result is officially recorded as a tie, with the shootout result only used for district playoff seeding (and, of course, bragging rights)--this is the second season District 4 has used overtime for that purpose.........Monday’s game with William Blount has an early 6:30 start, with Senior Night festivities beginning at 6:00—Don’t be late!.........Woof!

The outcome of New Zealand’s encounter versus Italy, which was basically a winner-take-all contest, had put their spot in the knockout rounds in jeopardy. But after losing to France on the first day of the tournament—their first-ever World Cup pool-stage defeat—the All Blacks have destroyed Namibia 71-3 and have scored more than 90 points against Italy.
It was New Zealand’s biggest victory at the competition since they defeated Portugal 108-13 in 2007. It matched the 96 points pool rivals France earned against Namibia last week. Rugby World Cup All Blacks games
Will Jordan made a spectacular diving catch in the corner after catching Beauden Barrett’s beautiful crossfield kick for Ian Foster’s team.
Smith, Mark Telea, and Ardie Savea all scored in four furious minutes after Italy’s comeback with a penalty.
Following the resumption, the All Blacks scored four tries—Brodie Retallick, Dalton Papali’i, Dane Coles, and Damian McKenzie—to lead 75-10 after 66 minutes. Before Anton Lienert-Brown scored New Zealand’s final try five minutes from the end, Jordan and Coles each added their second points of the game.
Italy suffered a humiliating defeat as a result, while New Zealand’s standing as one of the tournament favorites was restored.

2023 Jun 25 (Sun) – Today was a very looooong day. We left Sikanni at 8:00 a.m. The drive was 240 miles. It took us and our 3 three rigs six hours to arrive at Toad River Lodge. The scenery along the way was fantastic. The group spotted 7 bears (we only saw 2) and 2 caribou. Someone else reported seeing stone sheep and big horn sheep during their drive.
After we inspected the campsites (I think there are 21 in the campground), we assigned spaces then greeted each group as they came in. The fifth and last group arrived around 5 p.m. During the drive, we stopped in Tetsa River to buy cinnamon buns.
We went to dinner in the café with Johnny & Linda. The food was OK but expensive. Afterward, we held a travel meeting in a tent site area. Everyone is very upbeat and excited about the trip.
2023 Jun 24 (Sat) – It was a decent drive today – about 150 miles. We left Dawson Creek at 9 a.m. with 3 rigs and drove 3-1/2 hours to Sikanni River Campground. Sikanni (pronounced SICK-A-NEE) is a small way station along the Alaska Highway. The campground (if you could call it that) was a dirt field with back-ins along the tree line and some pull-thrus on the side. Most folks had 30 amp electric. Three of us had 15 amp service; just enough to power the refrigerator.
2023 Jun 23 (Fri) – Today was a free day. Everyone was free to go off and do what they wanted. Paul and I worked on the next few stops. Beth pointed out a discrepancy in the itinerary. Apparently, we scheduled both the optional jeep tour of Denali National Park for the same day as the Husky Homestead Tour. My heart was in my throat as I contacted the Husky Homestead folks and asked for a change. Luckily, they were able to reschedule us for the next day and more luckily, we had nothing planned for that day. Whew!
At 6 p.m. we met back in Sudeten Hall for a travel meeting. The group is coming together nicely. There are good friendships being formed and the comradery is high.
2023 Jun 22 (Thu) – At 9 a.m. we all met at the Walter Wright Pioneer Village for a self-guided tour of the village. We broke everyone up into groups, the same arrangement as when they drove here. Our five groups headed off in their different directions and seemed to enjoy the nostalgia.
At 11:30 a.m. we gathered in Sudeten Hall for lunch catered by the Meat Doctor. There was pulled pork, beef brisket, baked potato, cole slaw, strawberry cake, beverages and coffee. Everything was delicious.
A representative from the visitor center – Melissa – came in and gave a presentation to the group about the Alaska Highway and Dawson Creek. After her hour-long slide show, she gave everyone a certificate attesting to the fact they were at Mile 0 of the Alaska Highway.
We then all grabbed our jackets and sent to the Mile 0 Marker to take a group picture. Paul took many individual shots as well. Then Paul & I walked to the visitor center to pick up some post cards for the grandsons. The docent told me where the post office was so we walked three block down main street to buy some stamps. The post card stamps are the same as their first class stamps. We walked back up main street, then returned to the campground.
At 5 p.m., several people gathered for happy hour. Joe brought out the dice to play a yard game. It was fun.
2023 Jun 21 (Wed) - We left Whitecourt in Alberta at 8 a.m., leading 3 RVs. The weather was clear (no rain, yay!) and the scenery was very nice. The roads were long and straight with lots of trees. The drive was over six hours. We stopped in Beaver Lodge for lunch and took a picture with a giant beaver sculpture.
Once we arrived, we figured out where everyone would go and set out the parking crew. The last rig came in around 4 p.m. It made for a very long day. A small group gathered to socialize outside our rig around 6 p.m. At 9, we came inside. There was a one hour time change today which made for a longer day. We are bushed!

HIT 'EM WIT DA HEE! THE 25 DOPEST MISSY ELLIOTT SONGS
By Jacinta Howard
Published Mon, January 10, 2022 at 12:00 PM EST
At this point, it’s almost cliché to point out the obvious — Missy’s always been ahead of her time. A songwriter, producer, rapper, singer, and artistic visionary, her talent has cemented her as a singular artist whose avant-garde creativity has inspired musicians across genres for decades.
Her musical partnership with longtime friend and fellow Virginia native, producer Timbaland transformed the sound of R&B and rap in the mid-late 90s through their work with artists like Aaliyah and Ginuwine, and when her debut rap album Supa Dupa Fly dropped in 1997, lead by the out-of-the-box, catchy single “The Rain,” it further solidified their standing as two the most important talents in music.
Over the years, Missy’s creative approach to music and her accompanying videos has been virtually unmatched. Her videos, mostly created in collaboration with Hype Williams and later Dave Meyers, are loud, dynamic, and otherworldly, studied and dissected by artists looking to emulate her sound and viewers wondering how she does it. She set the standard for experimental, innovative music videos, no matter what the genre.
Beyond her visual creativity, her work behind the scenes has been just as significant. Few producers and songwriters can make universal pop hits while still maintaining a level of authenticity the way Missy does. Throughout the decades she’s crafted hits for Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Tweet, Monica, Beyoncé, Jazmine Sullivan, Fantasia, and Keyshia Cole, among others, all while keeping her feet firmly grounded in Hip-Hop.
We’ve sifted through Missy’s discography to pick out 25 of her dopest songs.
#26
"YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY" - NEW EDITION FEAT. MISSY ELLIOTT [BONUS SONG]
Our BONUS SONG pick is a celebrated classic guest spot! In 1996, the newly-reunited sextet New Edition tapped Miss E. for this banger of a Bad Boy remix.
#25
"THROW IT BACK"
Missy returned in 2019 to drop her first EP, "Iconology," her first body of music since 2005’s "The Cookbook." “Throw It Back” was the first single and a standout on the project— it featured a distorted bassline and busy production courtesy of Willi Hendrix as she reminded folks of her icon status and influence in the game: “I did records for Tweet before you could even Tweet.”
#24
“WTF (WHERE THEY FROM)" FEAT. PHARRELL
Throughout Missy’s long stretch between her 2005 album The Cookbook and 2019’s Iconology EP, Missy released a smattering of singles including this dance track featuring Pharrell. The song, which was also produced by Pharrell, peaked at #78 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Rap Songs but signaled Missy’s continued ability to stay ahead of the game sonically and visually.
#23
"PASS THAT DUTCH"
The lead single from 2003’s "This Is Not a Test!," “Pass That Dutch” is another insanely catchy collaboration for Missy and Timbaland, with a shout-out to OutKast’s “Hootie Hoo” interspersed in the hook. The video version of the song smashes three songs from the album together, the introspective ode to Aaliyah “Baby Girl Interlude/Intro,” “Pass That Dutch,” and the drum-heavy, rap-chastising “Wake Up.”

#22
"I'M REALLY HOT"
Timbaland and Missy helped rewrite popular music with their futuristic, yet familiar sound. While this song from Missy’s fifth album, 2003’s "This Is Not a Test!" wasn’t a huge hit like some of their other collabs, it nevertheless showcases their creative chemistry over wild drums and agile synths.
#21
"WE RUN THIS"
An ode to HBCU bands before Beyoncé tore up Coachella, 2005’s “We Run This” with its rhythmic drums perfectly compliments Missy’s energetic delivery.
#20
"SHAKE YOUR POM-POM"
Over a go-go beat, Missy delivered a rambunctious offering for the Step It Up 2 soundtrack.
#19
"DRIPDEMEANOR"
People don’t always immediately associate Missy with sensual R&B but that’s her other sweet spot, as showcased here. Featuring singer Sum1, the sultry song from her 2019 release, "Iconology," Missy is once again on-trend while remaining original.
#18
"PUSSYCAT"
An explicit dedication to how to keep her man in check, Missy's anthem for "how to turn this n*gga out" became an early 2000s theme song. Another great showcase for how sultry a singer Missy could always be. A remix with Janet Jackson and Lil Kim was shelved.
#17
"WHY I STILL LOVE YOU" FEAT. MONICA
An ode to 60s do-wop with contemporary sprinklings, Missy shows off her vocal chops on “Why I Still Love You,” as she questions why she can’t seem to break it off with someone who doesn’t deserve her time. Featured on Iconology, the mostly black and white video features a comical, sassy cameo from her longtime collaborator, Monica.
#16
"4 MY PEOPLE" FEAT. EVE
Missy and Eve connected on the uptempo “4 My People,” the fourth single from her 2001 album, "Miss E… So Addictive." The video features Missy dancing in front of a flag in homage to 9/11 and the song remains among her top dance tracks.
#15
"TAKE AWAY"
The video is dedicated to her musical muse Aaliyah, and the ballad features expectedly gorgeous vocals from Tweet as well as an assist from Ginuwine. Missy’s vocals are on display once more, proving again that she can’t pretty much do whatever she wants musically.
#14
"TEARY-EYED"
Missy teamed with producer/songwriter Warryn Campbell for the mid-tempo, love-torn song “Teary Eyed'' from her 2005 album, "The Cookbook." The video features Missy in a straight-jacket, singing to her incapacitated lover in his hospital bed, crooning about her love-hate relationship with him and his hold on her. It’s another example of her command for heartbreak R&B.
#13
"I'M BETTER" FEAT. LAMB
In 2017 Missy dropped the extremely catchy, bass-heavy trap-influenced “I’m Better,” produced by and featuring regular collaborator, Lamb. It’s quietly one of the strongest entries in her latter discography. And the video, which she co-directed with Dave Meyers, is probably among her top 5 best, which is saying a lot.
#12
"HIT 'EM WIT DA HEE"
A quiet standout on her 1997 debut, the video version of “Hit Em Wit Da Hee” featured a Bjork sample, and also a pinstripe suit-wearing Ginuwine. It’s a reminder that Missy is a talented vocalist, a prelude to the mid-tempo sound she’d tweak a few years later on Tweet’s debut Southern Hummingbird.
#11
"LOSE CONTROL"
The first single from her 2005 album, The Cookbook, “Lose Control” found Missy reconnecting with Ciara for another enthusiastic two-step jam. The song samples Cybotron’s “Clear” and Hot Streak’s “Body Work,” and it’s a standout in her long collection of pop dance hits.
#10
"COOL OFF"
“Missy in this bitch don’ shit you ain’t ever seen,” Missy sassily declares on the opening bars of her 808 heavy southern bounce track “Cool Off” from her 2019 EP, Iconology, offering a fresh reminder of a lasting legacy.
#9
"SHE'S A BITCH"
The lead single from her second album, 1999’s Da Real World, “She’s a Bitch” is Missy and Timbaland continuing to flex their creativity, even though it wasn’t the highest-charting song on the album.
#8
"SOCK IT 2 ME" FEAT. DA BRAT
One of her early standouts, “Sock It 2 Me” offered a direct glimpse into Missy’s experimental originality. Da Brat was at the top of her game in 1997, with a recitable verse and swag to match.
#7
"ONE MINUTE MAN" FEAT. LUDACRIS AND TRINA
Missy found yet another musical kindred spirit in Ludacris during the early aughts, and they capitalized on their connection regularly, including on the 2001 club hit “One Minute Man” from her third album, "Miss E… So Addictive." Trina's guest verse steals the show, as "da baddest bitch" gets raw and raunchy about what she needs in the bedroom.
#6
"BEEP ME 9-1-1" FEAT. 702 AND MAGOO
A sleepy banger from her debut, “Beep Me 911” is Missy and Timbaland deep in their creative well during the time in the late 90s when they were actively reshaping the sound of contemporary R&B. Decades later, the song still sounds futuristic-fresh, with Missy and Meelah (of 702)’s languid-sultry vocals breezing over the track as Magoo stamps it with a verse.
#5
"ALL N MY GRILL" FEAT. BIG BOI AND NICOLE WRAY
Big Boy and Nicole Wray threw the assist on “All in My Grill,” the breakout success from Missy’s second album, "Da Real World." Reminding everyone of her R&B roots, a sound she honed with Aaliyah and Ginuwine, “All In My Grill” is a straightforward late 90s soul track with glossy vocals and rich synths that still holds up today.
#4
"HOT BOYZ" FEAT. EVE, NAS, LIL MO, Q-TIP
The remix version of “Hot Boyz” broke records and became one of Missy’s most popular tracks. Featured on her sophomore album, 1999’s Da Real World, it’s an era-defining posse cut with a standout verse from Eve. (Why wasn't Q-Tip in the video, doe?)
#3
"GET UR FREAK ON"
Once again, Missy dropped a single that sounded like nothing else when she dropped “Get Ur Freak On” in 2001, and it’d go on to influence the pop production sound of the early aughts. Another Timbaland collaboration, it’s one of Missy’s signature tracks. The song encompasses the cool, frenetic energy that comes to define her solo work, and showcases her creativity at its peak.
#2
"THE RAIN (SUPA DUPA FLY)"
Timbaland’s sparse, forward-leaning production, and Missy’s wholly original execution which built on a familiar Ann Peebles song, “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” is one of the most memorable debuts in rap history. When you couple it with the Hype Williams video that helped change the game, Missy’s influential solo entry pushed rap and pop music in a new direction.
#1
"WORK IT"
2002’s "Under Construction" ushered in a fresh period of domination for Missy and Timbaland’s sound. “Work It” embodies the best of the duo’s innovative charm, and is a signature, career-defining track (and video) for Missy.

Rise of the Snakes - React, pt 2
Never Trust a Snake
1:00 For a robot, Zane be having some trippy dreams man
1:04 So like...does Zane get hurt? Does he feel pain? Were pain receptors built into his design? How does he work?
1:12 So I initially paused this here to comment on how the dutch angles only made the dream trippier, and then I noticed the lighting makes Wu's robes look like they're actually his skin.
2:09 No real commentary, I just like the collar grab
2:12 Was the junk on the deck at the start of this dream?
2:21 Would anyone believe me if I said I figured out the Green Ninja would be Lloyd without having it spoiled for me purely because he was the only one with the right-shaped eyebrows?
2:46 Mans spinning for no reason
2:54 Also I'm debating on if I should start the Lloyd Fights His Dad counter now or if it's invalid because dream
3:11 The Falcon being one creepy motherclucker
3:48 Why is Zane staring like that, did man blow a fuse?
3:56 Aka the pose that led to Kai getting yeeted in the pilot
4:15 So question here, but when they reference the Final Battle throughout s2, do they mean the fight at the end of s2 or the fight at the end of s15? Because that's the final final battle against the Overlord. [still not the last fight against him in my thing but oh well]
9:11 Only because someone made them op later
9:29 Pythor sure is a messy eater, leaving skeletons everywhere
10:01 In pain, in need~ Pythor would make a good Ursula imo
10:29 Why did all the Anacondrai have tails when in all the other tribes only the general did? Is it because Pythor has a tail but isn't a general?
10:33 The P stands for Phony
11:02 Not as much as Aspheera does but close
12:03 The 'no walking on grass' sign was outside the Four Weapons smithy. Gotta wonder if Lloyd had any idea the Ninja had a connection there. Also begs the question if he was knocking over trash in Jamanakai Village or Ignacia
12:18 I know it probably wasn't intended to be them, but damn would it be funny if the boys whose boats Lloyd and Pythor sank turned out to be Gene and Brad.
12:42 So why does Pythor treat Lloyd nicely like this? He could've easily overpowered him and taken the map or straight eaten him. Did he feel bad that Lloyd had no friends? For a really wild thought, it's been canonically stated that Clancee's a hybrid, likely Venomari/Anacondrai. Was Pythor nice because Lloyd reminded him of Clancee, Pythor's own son[theoretically]?
15:41 Funky that there're designs for siege engines on the blackboard of what's clearly a chemistry classroom. Are they being taught how to throw tear gas at enemies?
16:24 Y'know sometimes Jay sounds like Ryan Reynolds
17:20 Gotta wonder if the school sued them for that one or not
18:30 Part of me wants to know what it is, another part of me is concerned about the answer
20:51 Definitely, Garm's got quite the grudge against snakes
Can of Worms
1:05
Did they play videogames a lot at Darkly's? How'd Lloyd get so good at it?
1:54 Other pranks: slight inconvenience or wound to pride Prank against Jay: Attempted Murder™
2:46 Cole Brookestone: Would Hurt A Child™
3:44 Funny thing is literally everyone on board at the moment is a ninja by the show's end
4:17 Attempted Fratricide™
7:08 Note that Cole's more sensitive/perceptive of underground disturbances
8:12 Okay but like...can you actually choke out Zane? Is that possible?
8:50 They insult Cole's chili a surprising amount actually
9:25 So what was the plan here? If Pythor hadn't beat them to the tomb and the Venomari were still inside...would Kai and Jay have just released them?
11:26 Given that Kai saw the rope before it was actually there, it'd be really funny if there was black market Venomari spit people got high off of to see the future and just generally have an acid trip.
12:19 Did anything come from that little dart? Like was it a tranquilizer or a tracker or something? What was the point?
12:37 Much like the earlier question, why do sedatives work on Zane?
14:13 It is at this point I would make reference to the One-Armed Ronin, with Wu commenting that all the Serpentine were terrified of him, but unfortunately Wu has no idea who the Ronin was or if he's still alive. His identity would be revealed later in the series.
15:20 ...did Cole used to jump from the mountains he climbed? Honestly though I can totally see him being a cliff diver.
16:02 Jay, wasn't it here that you met Wu? You jumped off an apartment complex and crashed into a billboard.
16:40 Is that Acidicus by chance?
16:55 Talking about yourself there Pythor
17:05 The Ninja are the loudest whisperers I've ever heard
19:10 Times Ninja have been Captured: Kai: 1 Cole: 1 Jay: 1
The Snake King
2:19
Job dedication
3:00 I'd reference the Ronin again here because even if he's just a human the Serpentine still feared him, and Wu would be aware of that
4:02 Vinny?
4:51 ...did...did Nya just pop down and catch the snakes as Samurai X while the Ninja were still falling from the Bounty? How the frick--
6:22 This actually holds true in mine because Lloyd figures out Nya's the Samurai way before Kai did.
8:40 How is this costume at all convincing? Scales knows Lloyd, and Lloyd's trying to impersonate a Hypnobrai, who Scales likely knows all of the names of
10:59 Why is it the loss of the maracas that gives away Lloyd? Of all the things
11:10 Lloyd was missing overnight and no one noticed
11:39 Cole didn't find him and proceeded to not tell anyone. Great job Cole.
12:28 Gee I dunno, maybe the tire tracks have something to do with it
12:31 Was it the tire tracks?
13:20 Times Ninja have been Captured: Lloyd: 2 Also Lloyd in a Cage™: 2
13:35 Times Ninja have been Captured: Kai: 2 Cole: 2 Jay: 2 Zane: 1 Should I start a 'other Ninja in a Cage™' counter?
14:25 Times Ninja have been Captured: Nya: 1
15:14 Oh look she killed him
16:15 Considering the Great Devourer was actually under the city, all of them almost got Devoured™
16:48 Like any good rescue, complaints are mandatory
19:05 Kai takes that so damn well, it's amazing
19:50 So the suit has the same auto-repair function as the Iron Giant?

the final numbers are in 🥴😭😂😂😂 184.000
Ok, let's talk about this a little.
These final numbers are incredibly low. Will they drop to 100 one day? Probably. Is there any chance that the ratings will rise to at least 300? Maybe, but most likely not. This show has passed the point of no return, no OG couples will return Riverdale to its previous ratings. So they can really film whatever they want now - the finale is on the horizon.
What worries me is that already in two interviews, two different people (Cole and I don’t remember who was the second) said that in 10 years Riverdale will be valued differently. Because then it would make sense. By these words is meant that it is necessary to reach the end in order to understand the whole genius of writers. This is not a new concept for Riverdale. They've done it four times already. But then at least the story was still not so bumpy along the way. Because if the individual chapters of the story are stupid, incomprehensible, contradict each other and themselves - and only at the very end, a step before the finale, they are combined with the word "because" - this means that this whole story is shit. This is not an ingenious unappreciated work, which only in 10 years will be understood by everyone around, because everyone will know the ending in advance (because in fact it is impossible to enjoy this road without knowing its end). It's a poorly thought out story that several impatient storytellers who don't have a common opinion are trying to tell at the same time.
And I'm not even going to bring up such topics as "missed opportunities" and "lack of emotional resolution" here.
But back to the ratings. They are deplorable. They continue to fall and there is no chance of an unexpected sharp rise. The fandom finds justification for the last two episodes. The Oscars were at the same time as episode 6-07, and the Grammy Awards were during episode 6-08. That's why the ratings were so low, and they will definitely rise later. Not really. Let's see.
These are the ratings for the Sunday evening shows for March 20, March 27, and April 3. A source. Let's see how the Oscars (March 27), the Grammy Awards (April 3) and nothing else (March 20) has affected the views.
1. 60 Minutes - CBS - 19:00
9.066 on 20th March
7.791 on 27th March
6.484 on 3rd April
2. The Simpsons - FOX - 20:00
1.043 on 20th March
1.095 on 27th March (the Oscars didn't affect the rating at all)
0.820 on 3rd April (this is a repeat of the episode, but the rating is still high)
3. American Idol - ABC - 20:00
5.396 on 20th March
canceled due to the Oscars on 27th March
4.892 on 3rd April
4. NCIS: Los Angeles - CBS - 21:00
5.598 on 20th March
4.911 on 27th March
canceled due to the Grammy Awards on 3rd April
5. Bob's Burgers/Family Guy - FOX - 21:00
1.012/1.144 on 20th March
1.049/1.134 on 27th March
0.677/0.768 on 3rd April (repeat of the episodes)
6. S.W.A.T - CBS - 22:00
3.936 on 20th March
3.668 on 27th March
canceled due to the Grammy Awards on 3rd April
7. And now the most interesting. March - The CW - 21:00
0.103 on 20th March
Prelims rating 0.099 on 27th March (There are no final numbers, either because it is 0 or because no one cares about it anymore. And by the way, apparently this is also the season finale. And I'm almost sure that Riverdale will have similar ratings by the end of s6)
On 3rd April, World's Funniest Animals was on the air at this timeslot with a rating of 0.324. That's almost double the amount of Riverdale that ran right before. If someone is interested, then this show looks something like this - link. Audiences were more willing to watch the funny animals than the adventures of the selfish Archie and his Bingo the Dog forgotten at home.
Fans are hoping that the next episode 6-09 will be a little higher in the ratings. But Roberto wants to show it at Paley Fest, the day before the episode airs. I bet the fandom will know the full details of what's going to happen in less than an hour. Which means that 6-09 will have even lower ratings, because the episode will most likely be about nothing. But if Bughead kisses in it, and Varchie discuss about their wedding, the episode has a chance of even more viewers watching it. Which won't happen, of course.
Well, why did I spread these long rants here? I wonder what excuses for low ratings Riverdale will have next? Because at the moment I get the impression that only a few shippers and those who forgot to turn off the TV are watching this show.

GREENWAY'S WINNER LEADS SWAMP RABBITS TO SWEEP
Defenseman buries the OT winner to snag all four points in Atlanta on the weekend. By: Mark Binetti, Greenville Swamp Rabbits DULUTH, Ga. – JD Greenway slipped in close range of the Atlanta Gladiators net and buried his shot at 1:48 of overtime to lead the Greenville Swamp Rabbits to a come-from-behind 3-2 win on Sunday afternoon at Gas South Arena. The win, the team's seventh straight in Gas South Arena, gives the Swamp Rabbits a sweep of their weekend showdowns. For a fifth time in the last six games, the Swamp Rabbits scored the game's first goal and carried the advantage into the dressing room. Anthony Beauchamp matched his goal total from last season when he buried a cross-slot pass from Josh McKechney, rifling his try past the glove of Atlanta goalie Josh Boyko to give the Swamp Rabbits a 1-0 lead with 4:04 left in the first (McKechney and Brannon McManus assisted). Atlanta drew the game level in the second, ending their scoreless skid from their shutout loss the night before. At 6:41 of the second, Ryan Cranford slipped in point-blank range of the net and fired a shot over the shoulder of Swamp Rabbits net-minder Ryan Bednard, beating his glove to square the game at 1-1 (Rob Calisti and Jay Powell assisted). The Gladiators gained a lead over the Swamp Rabbits for the first time since February 17th, early in the final period. With 2:52 played, Jackson Pierson won a faceoff to the blue line to Griffin Luce, who followed shortly after with a wrist shot inside the blue line that he threaded under the bar to give Atlanta the advantage at 2-1 (Pierson had the lone assist). Down but not out, the Swamp Rabbits clawed back and drew the game level late in the third. With 5:00 remaining, Cole Donhauser swooped in from the left side of the zone and put a shot on Boyko, which he steered to the slot. Tanner Eberle skated into the rebound, situated himself, and fired home the tying strike from between the hash marks to even the game at 2-2 (Donhauser and Max Martin assisted). The remaining five minutes weren't enough to determine a winner, necessitating overtime. It took 108 seconds, but JD Greenway sealed the game for the Swamp Rabbits. Ethan Somoza switched with the defender on the right side, and Greenway strolled to the front of the net, with a man all over his back, and buried a close-range chance to give the Swamp Rabbits a 3-2 win and a weekend sweep of the Gladiators. Ryan Bednard earned the overtime win, his third of the season, stopping 27 of 29 shots in 61:48 of work (17-9-0-0). The Swamp Rabbits continue their road swing with a showdown against the Orlando Solar Bears on Wednesday, March 6th. Puck drop at Kia Center is slated for 7:00 p.m. EST. UTEP to Take on Pac-12’s Arizona in 53rd Meeting Saturday
EL PASO, Texas – UTEP will face its second consecutive Power Five opponent when the Miners travel to Tucson to take on Arizona and former UTEP WR Jacob Cowing on Saturday afternoon. The Miners and Wildcats are set to kick off at 9:00 p.m. MT on the Pac-12 Network while the game will be broadcasted on 95.5 KLAQ
UTEP and Arizona are playing for the first time since the 2017 season, while the former Border Conference and Western Athletic Conference foes will meet for the 53rd time.
UTEP (1-2) is coming off a 38-7 loss at Northwestern on Sept. 9. The Wildcats outscored the Miners 31-0 in the second half after going into the halftime tied 7-7. Tyrice Knight, the nations’ leading tackler, racked up 14 more tackles including 11 solo stops and a half sack. Offensively, Jeremiah Ballard was the highlight as he tallied a career-best 92 yards on four receptions, while Zach Fryar snagged his first career touchdown on a four-yard leaping catch in the end zone. McKel Broussard added a career-high seven tackles, while Josiah Allen tallied his first career sack (half sack with Knight). Maurice Westmoreland recorded his first career sack along with a pass breakup. Gavin Hardison struggled in the second half. After starting the day 7-of-8 with a touchdown pass, finishing 17-of-25 for 192 yards and two interceptions.
Knight, following his performance at NU, was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 11, his first career weekly award.
Arizona (1-1) is coming off a 31-24 overtime loss at Mississippi State on Sept. 9. The Wildcats outscored the Bulldogs 10-3 in the fourth quarter to push the extra period. UA QB Jayden de Laura threw for 342 yards on 32-of-46 passing with two touchdown tosses but four interceptions. Former Miner Jacob Cowing caught seven balls for 31 yards including a 17-yard TD in the third quarter after being down 21-7. Cowing added three yards on a rush attempt and completed a pass for -2 yards. Arizona opened the ’23 season on Sept. 2 with a victory over NAU, 38-3. De Laura passed for 285 yards and three scores, including a four-yard TD toss to Cowing for the Wildcats’ first points of the season. Overall, de Laura has thrown for 627 yards, ranking 13th in FBS. He ranks eighth in passing yards per game (313.5). Arizona’s passing offense ranks 17th nationally, while its redzone defense ranks ninth in FBS.
“Arizona is our biggest test of the year and for one reason alone is that they're a very, very, very talented team. Start with their offensive line, a big physical athletic offensive line. (They have) a really deep backfield with running backs, good tight ends and then some good size at wide receiver. Then obviously they got Jacob (Cowing), who's just a tremendous player for them,” UTEP Head Coach Dana Dimel said. “So, they got really a group of very, very talented receivers and a quarterback that's very athletic and makes a lot of plays. So offensively, they're a big, big test for us and they're very versatile with what they do offensively. Defensively they've gotten a lot better. They've recruited well, they've got more talented defensive players on their team now. They're very deep up front. They got some solid depth at linebacker, and they're very deep in the secondary. So, they have the size and the speed on defense. I think they're much improved this year defensively from what they were last season with the things they're doing, as everybody expected them to be. They're going to be a tough test force for sure, as we try to attack them offensively and then try to stop them defensively.”
