Announcement: I'm going to be doing whumptober! A week from now is the 1st of October, so in addition to the next oleander update, i'll also start posting my whumptober fics :)
~
He doesn’t stay in the city because of course he doesn’t stay in the city. He’s the prime suspect in a double homicide, after all.
Still, Jimmy sticks around the streets for a while, ducking into the shadows whenever he hears a siren. After all, it’s a bit suspicious to see a dirty teenager out on his own, nothing on him but his clothes and his backpack (still with his cheap geometry textbook and his assigned English reading stuffed into it, because they make for somewhere to lay his head that isn’t hard ground).
(He’d thought about going back to school, at first. How ridiculous is that?)
He sticks around for about a month—far longer than he wants to live on the streets, but his parents are cremated and so the funeral service isn’t urgent, and is held three weeks after their death.
Nobody notices the sallow sixteen-year-old boy loitering in the church front entrance, listening to the echoes of the eulogy. They don’t notice that he spent the last bit of his money on a white button-up from a thrift store, that he’d braved a homeless shelter to be able to shower. They don’t notice the tears that streak down his face, that he desperately tries to wipe away.
Then the loudspeaker in the entrance sparks and smokes and stops working, so Jimmy leaves.
He knows he has to get away. He’s barely been surviving nicking food from convenience stores and restock trucks. He doesn’t dare show his face at any of the homeless camps around the city, nor any of the charity food organizations. He’s certain that they’ll just turn him in.
But he doesn’t have the money to go anywhere, nor the survival skills to set up in the woods somewhere, so he does what must be the inevitable. He breaks into someone’s house and steals every valuable he can find.
The house he chooses has a lot—expensive electronics and sparkling jewelry, and he feels utterly awful about it but he decides against leaving an apology note and just runs, ignoring the way the door falls off its hinges behind him.
There’s an unforeseen issue, though: for a street rat, he doesn’t really have any connections—and he’s too much of a good kid to even know how to go about making connections. The one time he tries, he somehow ends up with three necklaces gone and a small packet of white powder in exchange. That he manages to pass off for some decent money, but he gets out of that area quickly before he ends up getting into the wrong sort of business.
From then on, he robs the nice-looking houses (he doesn’t really care about security and wears a mask and hoodie to do it, and when alarms are inevitably tripped he somehow evades capture) and only goes for cash. Eventually, he’s got enough of the stuff in his backpack to rent a place far away, a shady place he’d checked out online that’s a good thirty minute drive away from any sort of civilization (and quite far away from here) and the landlord doesn’t care that he’s paying in cash.
How to get there is the next question.
The cross-country bus doesn’t run in that direction, and even if it did the price would be over $300, so Jimmy nixes that idea pretty quickly. He can’t hitchhike, that would go poorly. He can’t steal a car—he’d never finished learning how to drive, and it would be a matter of time before a crash.
He ends up doing what he’s only seen in movies—he hitches a ride on a cargo train headed in the right direction. The trainyard at the edge of the city has very few cameras; it had been a piece of cake to sneak into one of the middle cars of what seemed to be a train full of grain and hide out between the stacks of it.
In that train, Jimmy sees the countryside for the first time in his life.
He’s never lived outside Empires City, and while he’d learned about rolling fields and corn for miles on end, he hadn’t actually believed it.
He believes it now.
It goes on for absolutely ages, field after field after field, occasionally broken up by barns or houses, but not nearly frequently enough. It’s insane. Some of the fields are for livestock—there are whole herds of cows, just roaming around out there.
It’s beautiful, but soon enough, the monotony gets to him. It’s nothing like the city, with its bright lights and forever bustle, and eye spy isn’t fun by himself. Jimmy ends up rolling up his hoodie and shoving it under his head, then lying back and falling asleep.
Somehow, the trip passes mostly uneventfully. He’d done a decent bit of research at a library computer (which had flashed error screens halfway through his scouring of train depot maps) and knows that this train will take him almost all the way to his destination, leaving him with a two day walk into town and then a day of walking to reach his rental. The walking part he’s fairly confident about, and there’s a couple of printed-off maps stuffed into his hoodie pocket to guide him. What he’d been worried about was the train.
The train doesn’t break down, though. The most that happens is a couple of bags split open, grain spilling everywhere. Jimmy doesn’t think too hard about it, just hugs his backpack a little closer to himself. He always gets a sick feeling in the pit of his stomach when his power manifests these days.
He hopes, if Lizzie’s alive, that she’s all right.
She hadn’t been found, either. The last time she’d been seen was by some friends at band after school on that fateful day. She’d vanished off the face of the earth, much like he had.
Jimmy swallows back the tears that burn at the corners of his vision. He can’t. He can’t think about her. He can’t think about his past at all. He just has to—he has to get away from everyone so that he never hurts anyone ever again, and then everything will become okay.
He sneaks off the train at his stop (a small depot, a couple of houses spread about and a place for the train to stop), slipping and faceplanting in the dust. He stumbles back up, hikes his backpack further up on his shoulders, and starts walking, through the tiny settlement and then along the side of the freeway that cuts through it.
There’s a gas station about three hours into his walk, thank goodness. He’s been out of water for far longer than he predicted, ever since his water bottle cracked down the side five hours ago, forcing him to drink all he could until the bottle was empty. At the gas station, he purchases a six-pack of cheap water and a pre-packaged pastry.
The pastry is moldy, of course. He eats around the black spots.
A two day walk. Into town, at least. Then another day to get to his rental. And after that. . . .
Jimmy’s not really sure what’s left of his life after that. Unless he can figure out how to control his powers, he’s stuck out in the middle of nowhere forever. He’ll have to become a farmer or something, raise chickens and grow food for himself so that he never has to subject the town to his misfortune.
For the first time, Jimmy stops to think about his long-term plans.
For the first time, Jimmy wonders if he should be alive.
-
The house sucks.
The fridge doesn’t work. There’s missing shingles on the roof, and the first time it rains the ceiling leaks all over the threadbare carpet in the living room. The air conditioning won’t turn on, and two weeks into living there the ceiling fan just falls out of the ceiling, narrowly avoiding crushing him (he walks away with some smarting scratches on his legs).
There’s some technically good things, he supposes. For instance, he gets pretty good at using a screwdriver after the cabinet doors and the doorknobs repeatedly fall off. Having a bed is nicer than sleeping on the ground, as he’s been doing for quite some time now. Even if the bedframe collapses on him during his second week. And rent is cheap!
Once a week, the city bus comes by to the bus stop a couple minutes out from the house, near the water tower (most workers at the water plant ride the bus to work), and when Jimmy eventually works up the courage (and entirely runs out of food), he rides it into town.
He doesn’t have enough money to last him forever. He can maybe survive for a year out here on what he has. If he starts a garden, though, gets some chickens like he planned. . . .
Jimmy goes back to the house with an armful of groceries, ten packets of seeds, and three chickens following him. It’s just getting to gardening season, so it’s the ideal time to set something up.
The work of turning the dirt with the rusted rake he finds in the garage is hard, but feels so unbelievably good. It’s awfully nice to have something to do, something that isn’t moping around the house, trying not to destroy everything he touches. He feels like he has something of a purpose, a purpose to plant a sustaining garden and raise three chickens and make something out of the profits.
If things go well, and he becomes less dangerous, maybe he can set up at a farmer’s market. Less exposure to the outside world than an actual job, so less chance of hurting anyone. Still bringing in a bit of money, enough to hopefully keep up with his rent.
His rake strikes a rock, which flies up and hits him square between the eyes. Right. Less planning for the impossible, more cultivating a garden.
For the second time, leaning on the handle of the rake as he rubs his forehead, Jimmy wonders if he’s meant to be alive.
-
By some stroke of luck, all goes . . . well.
The garden isn’t the best garden ever. The chickens are, perhaps, a bit more scraggly than the average chicken, their eggs more often rotten than not by the time Jimmy gets to them. But he can survive off of it, and for a teenage boy, he feels pretty proud of himself.
And he starts to settle in.
Maybe he can make this work. He can . . . he can just be a recluse, maybe work some sort of online job to pay the bills, survive off of his own garden and animals. If he saves up, he could maybe get a goat or two. Goats give milk, right? Edible milk? Having some milk would be nice.
It’s that autumn, of course, when things start to go wrong.
He’s heading into town for the first time in over a month, hungering for something other than bitter lettuce and tomatoes and eggs and Malt O’ Meal (his last box had run out that morning). Maybe he can spare some money on a frozen pizza (he knows he won’t—he’d already made a list for bread ingredients, a cookbook, and plenty of peanut butter and jelly).
The town feels . . . empty. He doesn’t pass anyone out walking or kids playing in yards, houses shuttered and doors closed. There are only three cars in the grocery store’s parking lot, and one of them is an employee.
The groceries are overpriced, but Jimmy doesn’t have any other choices. He’s thirsty, too, and stops for a bottle of water before heading to the single employee for checking out, but the shelves for bottled drinks are bare.
The cashier checks him out with an apology—
“Sorry, we’ll be getting more water on Tuesday, when the shipment comes in. If you can’t hold out until then, I’ve heard that our Belton location has some. Stay safe.”
And that, more than anything else, really worries Jimmy.
The library’s closed (it must be a holiday, or a weekend, or something), but there’s a newspaper box at the bus stop. It cracks open at his touch, so he takes a paper without paying and reads while he waits for the bus, hoping that it’s recent enough to have some news about what’s with the water.
As it turns out, it’s on the first page.
Hundreds ill. Contaminated water. Reports from analyzing labs that indicate that any water from the tap is deadly—as soon as it enters the water tower it becomes contaminated, but they’ve tried disinfecting the tower or gathering rainwater or taking it straight from the treatment plant, but nothing works. Anyone who drinks any water gets sick.
And Jimmy knows, instinctively, that it’s because of him.
After all, he lives within walking distance of the treatment plant.
It’s there, waiting for the bus, that Jimmy decides that he can’t stay here. He’d always known, deep down, that it wouldn’t work out. He’d hoped, of course. He’d hoped that the creaky old house could have contained him, held him there. That maybe he wouldn’t be dangerous if all he could hurt was himself.
Clearly, nowhere is far enough away. Even when he separates himself from civilization as much as possible, he can’t escape hurting people. He can’t escape himself.
He doesn’t move away immediately, though he’s so disgusted with himself (he can see the water tower through his window, and the now-frequent workers trying to fix it) that he wishes he could. Instead, he spends a week harvesting what he can—a few limp handfuls of lettuce and about a dozen tomatoes—and fixes what he can on the house.
When the time comes to leave, he doesn’t take the bus. He walks, his chickens following along behind, until he reaches the town.
Jimmy lifts the chickens one by one into someone’s backyard, leaving them a couple of tomatoes to eat until their new owner finds them.
He feels lucky that he hadn’t managed to kill his chickens. He really did come to love them—he had built the shoddiest of coops out of spare wood from his shed, and he’d petted each of them on the head every day, and frequently carried one around when he was too lonely to do anything. They can’t come back to the city with him, though—he’s sure that they wouldn’t survive the trip.
For back to the city is where Jimmy is headed. He’d considered just wandering, a vagrant, but he doesn’t exactly have the skills for that. He doesn’t know anything about scavenging or hunting, he hates stealing from people who aren’t already well-off, and he’s been feeling unwell for the past couple of days. He can’t survive wandering the country.
And in the city, there’s . . . well, there are more people to hurt, but there are more people to fix his problems. More places for people to go for help.
And maybe he can do some good instead of just isolating himself, get a job where he can be helpful. Balance out some of his karma.
Or maybe the train he hitchhikes on will crash and burn and he’ll die.
Jimmy’s not sure which would be preferable.

Aloha! Did you fire Al yet? Please 5150 him too- we can't be too safe with our moms. That was gross how he smeared Kitty too. She said he has a crush on her! These are affections we don't need. I'm there for showers. Al constantly gossips about Patrons & pigs - it's grossly unprofessional.
Dmv.org is backed up with their officers crime. We are pressing charges against Officer Enoch & Triple A Daniel Crabtree if you could speed up process? Judge, Sheriff & attys know. Call America 1st Legal & ask them to 5150 my x so I can go home please & stop bullying civilian moms with these underpaid camp hosts!
I don't need Al to make mistakes on our cases with bribes & rapes! Jai says Rangers dont handle family matters & unfortunately were stuck with millions of government abusing our kids & families like this.
Do you know how a mom with skin infection feels constantly bullied out of daily grooming? Not cool- horrible karma. Fire him. Thanks!
Peace!

Lydia- Have you tried giving Al Ivermectin? Many peeps need equine therapy for their kinks. He's all bugged up. His anxiety is through roof. No one can handle being around him. I let community know he's confused about job description making our county park inhospitable for members. I can't believe no one has apologized to me yet. Well, please call America First Legal & send us all accident reports. Elon Musk actually cares that I'm not targeted like this and referred his attys. He'll get refunds if county is too bankrupt from these low agendas. I'll warn moms they'll be raped over registration & cars stolen by AL & his "thuggie" gay pigs? Do they bang pigs in shower? And do drugs? Gross. Meth labs aren't even legal to sell as real estate. How could our own staff polute our parks like this? He wouldn't be gay if he weren't looped up in 1st place. It's literally a disability. Go cleanse. If he's too perverted to do his job ethically- obviously his man boobs are over run with bugs and a negative influence around pure families!
Thanks!

Lydia- What is your email? I'll send you emails to judge about registration. I have Grace for a few months whilst they settle my court stuff. None of Al's business. I have PTSD from his rapist colleagues & We can't risk Al getting more moms raped by gay pigs. BTW, Did he see me on floor in bathroom naked with head cracked open? How did he know Kitty was having sex? Does he record Gals in bathrooms??? He said he made deal to call pigs if that ever happens again. Campers are not to be trafficked for their gay kinks.
We need Deanna back! ):
No wonder Jyoti doesnt feel safe to go there!
Thanks!
Nitya
Ranger Lydia & Jai-
Aloha! I did get a ticket on registration on way to dmv.org & pig Garfin gave me until Febuary to sort it with Judge. Many Are being fired on gross misconduct. Dmv.org says they don't work with pigs etc. Irs forgot to send registration stickers after raiding homes & stealing cars. We have PTSD & disabilities f/ dyke rapes. I'll let my Dr's & attys know what's going on & camp bros/moms.
Obviously we need to take daily showers without being terrorised over urgent care covid charges!
Can you guaranty moms some Autonomy from vanity bullies?
Gross Al throws his weight around like this. He seems suspect because he also bullied with threats of his new Ranger Danger buddy on 11/8- day of accident too.
Do you think he's involved in foul play? This needs to stop. Open a new shower with no meth or drug paraphernalia residue & fire ALL pigs involved. Enough of their abuse. Merci.
Thanks!

Marinette Dupain-Cheng: Hogwarts AU
Marinette Dupain-Cheng is a Pureblood witch that was born on the 9th of July 1978 and started attending Hogwarts on the 1st of September 1989, being sorted into Ravenclaw house.
She has a Willow wand with a Unicorn Hair core.
Her Patronus is a Ladybug.
Her favorite subject are Transfiguration and her least favorite subject is Herbology.
She is one of the Ravenclaw Prefects' in her year and Head-Girl of her year.
Marinette is a sweet, outgoing, young, and joyful girl who loves fashion, her friends, family, and Adrien Agreste (her crush), who describes her as honest, kind, fair, and the type not to cheat. She is very helpful towards those who have insecurities, such as; Juleka Couffaine, who thought she had a "frog choir audition curse", and Marc Anciel, who was too afraid to share his creative writing. According to Clara Nightingale, Marinette has a pure heart. She cares deeply for other people, usually putting their feelings and interests even before her own, in some cases at a personal cost. Despite being genuinely kind, she has her limits, such as when she gets irritated with Chloé Bourgeois to the point that she refuses to continue guarding her against Nathaniel while he was under the Imperius Curse under her nickname Ladybug.
Despite her outgoing and sympathetic personality, Marinette struggles with self-confidence and self-esteem. Before finding out about the prophecy and creating the secret alias of Ladybug, she was more nervous and didn't oppose others, but her confidence grew considerably since then such as talking with Adrien and standing up for others. In urgent situations, she becomes very nervous, clumsy, a bit awkward, and quick to panic which includes approaching her crush, trouble-choosing between her love interests, when in contact with major celebrities if she thinks others do a better job compared to herself or losing something that will expose her secret identity. She once had an unhealthy obsession with Adrien, a male model who is in her year. In her fifth year, with Kagami's help Marinette starts to figure out that her lack of confidence and self-esteem come from a fear of being not good enough. It also comes from out of the fear of being hurt and humiliated again as Marinette was the year before.
Marinette can act impulsively and irrationally at times, as shown when she deflected the false accusation of "stealing" Chloé's bracelet onto others who are also innocent. She is willing to do several risky tasks in order to protect her image, like erasing an embarrassing letter to Adrien by stealing his owl. More so when she expresses jealousy whenever other girls such as Chloé or Lila Rossi flirt with Adrien, even abusing her alter ego Ladybug to keep them away or forgetting to take off her disguise in the first place. However, Marinette learns from her mistakes and becomes a more open-minded, understanding person. She also takes advice from others very well, whether it is family or friends, as seen throughout her Hogwarts years. According to Marinette in "Family", as her civilian self-personality wise, she takes after her father, having her great uncle's creative side and her grandfather's fear of change.
As Ladybug, Marinette retains many of her alter ego's characteristics, but she is much stronger. Her confidence and bravery come out more prominently. According to Cat Noir, she can be stubborn at times, especially when she isn't easily convinced. While almost all of Ladybug's plans are effective, they tend to be complex and rather bizarre. She is more cautious and careful than Cat Noir, sometimes needing to restrain or stop him from doing hasty acts seen several times when their classmates gets put under the Imperius Curse. Only on rare occasions, she can act hasty, especially if she is in a rush to do something or multiple things at once or being quick to assume like when she mistook a Boggart for an akumatized Cat Noir. She believes that a great wizard always listens to their head, meaning that she isn't easily fooled or swayed by deceptions and lies.
Ladybug strives to rescue everyone, including those put under the Imperius Curse by Hawk Moth. She usually tries to persuade the Imperius victims to calm down and stop their rampage when she can. She is aware that there is a line between justice and revenge believing that honesty and justice don't mean anything if you're pressured into doing it, like as she did with Bob. She acknowledges that good things come by doing good actions and that not all problems can be solved by hurting others like Hawk Moth does. She also values the lives of others more than material possessions. Similar to her partner, through her lifestyle, she isn't tempted by power because Marinette understands that her life can be great without it. However, for a long time, her obsession for Adrien got in the way of saving people.
Marinette takes her image, spells, and those of others very seriously as Ladybug. Such as when fighting against Hawk Moth's victims, compared to Cat Noir's laid-back and goofy personality, and more so at Chloé for using magic to create a fake accident, that could have led to a serious one. It took the most critical point when one of her moral codes as a witch was used against her but also realized even if it is that the person must still stand and do what is right. Given these traits, Adrien claims that her civilian form is funnier than Ladybug. But she is also sensitive about her image, such as getting annoyed at Chloé playing her alter ego in Clara Nightingale's photo-shot in the Daily Prophet, a little angry when Nora doubted her abilities, and even attacking someone impulsively after the latter tauntingly mimicked her. Although she can get exasperated with Cat Noir if he jokes too much, she handles it calmly at times and enjoys teasing him or others. Similar to Cat Noir, she is clever with her words and occasionally enjoys making puns. According to Marinette as her alter ego personality-wise, she takes after her mother and her grandmother Gina's adventurous spirit.
As her alter ego, Marinette strives to keep her personal and hero lives separate to protect herself and her loved ones. Still, she aims to be honest with others in other ways, like with Cat Noir about not having romantic feelings for him and seeking advice from others. No matter her difficult tasks, Marinette does everything she can to set things right as Ladybug while keeping up with her everyday responsibilities, like studying, designing things, and more. There are exceptions to the rule such as when she mixed up her duties to her former professor and her personal plans, like her letter to Adrien. She also has occasional problems inventing excuses for her absences to her friends, professors, and parents. When off duty like Cat Noir, Ladybug has learned to relax and have fun.
As a duo, she is cool, calm, and level-headed, but does let personal matters take over sometimes as she voiced her frustrations at Cat Noir during a fight leading to her doubts about trusting him and then an accident. As time went on Ladybug realized that she and Cat Noir would have to include others in their work with them following her as the leader and adopting a caring protective mother figure role. Doing so Ladybug doesn't see them as sidekicks but as friends and extremely values their support. She is also great at giving advice to others when they need it and shows great care for them and their loved ones when in danger such as when Chloé and Kagami, were suspended from their team roles as the cost of revealing their identities to Hawk Moth. According to Cat Walker, as team leader, Ladybug doesn't play favorites and cares for everyone equally. Also, she learned to take suggestions, and ideas and to follow the lead of others when the situation calls for it such as following Cat Noir's lead when she became more aggressive and irrational than normal, fierce boarding reckless.
After taking on Prefect and Head-Girl duties, Ladybug still continued to accept the help of her allies both old and new understanding that the rules are slowly changing. And yet, she became overprotective of and bordering afraid for Cat Noir, herself, and others as well as affecting her friendship and partnership with him unknowingly acting like her archenemy by keeping him out of the loop, taking him for granted, calling the others excessively or not trusting him to retrieve their friends whose identities he knows unaware that he wanted to protect her to but in the opposite direction. She fully realizes her and other mistakes, after Hawk Moth stole the list with all of their friends' names (except for hers and Cat Noir's), feeling immense guilt believing what she deserved until Cat Noir reminds her that she still has him, the faith of everyone at Hogwarts and ensured her they will retrieve the list, and make sure Hawk Moth doesn't steal anything from them again inspiring her with the hope to keep fighting.
With Hawk Moth finding out the identities of their friends, her confidence as Ladybug has shaken to where she occasionally hesitates and becomes sensitive at the mention of it especially missing the alter egos of their friends and the rest of the team.
Despite the fact that being Ladybug had allowed her to meet her cat Tikki and save people, Marinette started to grow tired and stressed about keeping her two lives separate and having to lie to everyone she loves, eventually causing her to break down and cry to Luka about her problems. While on occasion, she rarely breaks down as Ladybug, often voicing her doubts and mistakes to Cat Noir during their hardest times. She felt more of the strain in her civilian life as she took the mantle of Head-Girl, causing her to break down, even more, realizing she can't have a love life or be honest with anyone; effectively condemning herself to a cage of lies until Shadow Moth is no longer a threat.
Speaking of her tasks as one of the chosen ones, Marinette worked relentlessly to decode the letters that Hawk Moth sends her and was very determined to stop Hawk Moth from putting more people under the Imperius Curse. However, she is also stressed out more and struggled to balance everything to the point where she constantly lies to her parents and friends. Because of this, Marinette started to act out like Gabriel such as when she resorted to using drastic measures such as not telling Luka the truth and calling off her friendships with her friends, both instances lead to them being put under the Imperius Curse. It was there that Marinette, after breaking off with Luka and making up to her friends, she decided to let Alya in on her secret of being Ladybug and the prophecy. After gaining help from Alya, she has a deeper understanding of her destiny and was happy about protecting people even further. Through it, she calmed down and started to see the flaws in others. Unlike Hawk Moth, Marinette has let go of past mistakes as she wasn't angry at Mister Fu for losing the book about Horcruxes leading to now, and not blaming herself for Fu's condition knowing that he wouldn't want her to do that as others still needed her. However, because of the big burden, she has as one of the chosen ones, Ladybug becomes very protective of the forbidden books under her care.
And yet, the burden of being one of the chosen ones wasn't the only thing that made her behave the way she did it was Hawk Moth's relentless hunting of her and Cat Noir. Over time she had grown more aware of Hawk Moth's deceptive and super sneaky nature to the point where she had nightmares and was afraid of what he was going to do if he found out when she let others in on her secrets and has the power to back it up. Despite burdening herself to keep everyone else safe she had forgotten it works both ways as no one else wants to see her suffer for them. Because of her archenemy, she understood what the other chosen ones felt knowing what it's like to be hunted.
Unknowingly because of her archenemy, she learned what happens when one obsesses over their own desires and that you not only hurt yourself but others too. Such as in her early Hogwarts years, Marinette would have been all over Adrien but in her sixth year she forces Kagami to see him, but she also goes to great lengths to avoid seeing Luka. Her love obsession caused many problems, such as where her emotional preference caused her to give Adrien the snake disguise, even though Luka was a much better fit. And causing the list of their allies to be stolen and with that being the last straw Marinette gives up her love for Adrien for the sake of her people. However, in trying to shut off her love affections she goes denial crazy again from running away from her feelings to desperately wanting a guy to love her back even to almost foolishly accepting Monarch's offer aware that everything would end in disaster if not for Cat Noir. As well as because of her archenemy's influence as both sought easier ways out of their problems but were short-sided and yet Marinette accepted the outcome and followed her friend's example.
As Lady Noire, Marinette retained most of her personality as Ladybug, like her cautiousness and creativity. She took after her partner's sense of humor, cunning, and charm, with Mister Bug believing that she was the one wearing the clown suit. Returning as Lady Noire again, she adopted more of her partner's persona, becoming flirty.
Like Adrien when he was Aspik, as Multimouse, while trying to protect her identity as Ladybug, Marinette was trustworthy, faithful, and clever. However, she pretended to be a klutz and "revealed" her identity in front of Cat Noir so he wouldn't think that Marinette is Ladybug.
As her adult alter ego, according to Bunnyx, Marinette will grow into a wise, calm, strong, and confident leader, meaning that she isn't impulsive and irrational. Such as when she comforted Bunnyx, telling her that their fight wasn't over, easily figuring out she had a message from her younger self, and after Timetagger's defeat, she confidently told her younger self that they'll always be able to save the day.

as a MOSTLY GOOD? update on this big pile of sad, I am getting re-established with a doctor, and am going to be going over some new patient stuff so I can get some answers and a plan / etc for my shoulder.
unfortunately, it won't be until November 1st. I could technically also try and sit as a walk-in at the local urgent care office, but I feel like I'm not emergency-adjacent enough to take up that space.
the bad news is, pain medications have stopped helping as much, nothing else I do or change REALLY seems to help, and I'm really tired. I wanna do my best to keep drawing, but that, is, where I am at.

FRANCE 24 English: US woman died after abortion law delayed urgent medical care
The 28 year old Amber died, in August, from delayed life-saving surgery due to Georgia's restrictive abortion ban.
Georgia has a law making dilation¹ & curettage² a felony offense!
The remaining 'exceptions' to this rule are purposely vague & easy to mis- interpret...
Both, "Dumb-Old" tRump & Brian Kemp are to blame for pushing to pass this ban.
Amber, a healthy mom with a son, was forced to seek care at a North Carolina hospital.
Due to heavy traffic, she missed her appointment.
So, the doctor offered a medication abortion - which is usually safe.
But, Amber's condition only got worse - with much bleeding.
It later turned out that Amber's body hadn't expelled all of the fetal tissue³ & had developed "severe sepsis⁴"!
By this time, Amber was back in Georgia...
Yet, despite her worsening health, the Stockbridge⁵ hospital staff delayed the needed procedure - for 17 hours!!
By that time, Amber needed abdominal surgery⁶ & an added hysterectomy⁷.
It was during the 2nd surgery that Amber's heart - simply stopped...
And, the emergency staff couldn't resuscitate her.
A state committee later found that Amber could have been saved - if the 'scared' doctors had acted earlier...
This is just one of the many dangers that abortion bans breed.
Just more chances for mothers to die from what should be a fairly routine procedure
Is this what the Christo-Fascists of the Republikkkan Party 'want'?!
The death of people that the hoary Bible supposedly condemns.
Terms Used:
1. Dilation is the medical widening of the cervix (A narrow passage from the uterus, that allows fluids & babies to exit via the vagina⁸.).
2. Curettage is the removal of all abnormal or unwanted tissues from the uterus (A hollow organ above the cervix, which is connected to the ovaries⁹ by the fallopian tubes¹⁰. It's where a fetus grows before birth.).
3. Fetal tissue are cells taken from an aborted or stillborn mammal baby. It is used to help study transplantation, fertilization, etc...
4. Sepsis is organ inflammation (Part of the body's defense system which removes & heals injuries & infections.) occuring when certain chemicals are present in the bloodstream.
5. Stockbridge, Georgia is a city that's part of the southeastern Atlanta metropolitan area.
6. Abdominal surgery is the surgical opening of a patient's stomach, liver, bowels, etc... This involves treatment of diseases, conditions & injuries of or in the digestive area & soft tissues.
7. A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of a woman's uterus. This is done to treat conditions affecting her reproductive organs.
8. The vagina is an elastic organ/canal that's important in human sex & child- birth. It is the 1st part of an intricate reproductive system.
9. Ovaries are small, oval glands that make & store human 'eggs' & also, the hormones that control the menstrual cycle & pregnancy.
10. Fallopian Tubes are two long, slim channels that pass human 'eggs' into the woman's uterus.
Hopefully that'll be helpful...
PS: Folks.
Voting helps determine how good of a life you, your family & friends can live.
Vote Blue & live the best & full life now possible...
It Doesn't End With The Election But, That's As Good A Starting Point As Any!!
#Abortion Ban Death!!#Georgia#Kemp#tRump#Sepsis#Stockbridge hospital#voting determines how#good a life you live!#& your death as well...

Sunday Salon / Sunday Post – A Week in the Life of Dollycas – Weekly Rewind – New Arrivals

The Sunday Salon is a Facebook group that has become an informal week-in-review gathering place for bloggers. It is also a place to share our thoughts about things of a bookish nature. You can also link up weekly on Readerbuzz. The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE! I am not sure what is happening, but lately, I can't stay up as late to read, which is really messing with my schedule. Also since I took July 4 off I feel like I am chasing my tail to get caught up on my emails. Then, on Tuesday I was supposed to have a quick check-in with my radiation oncologist and then have my Zometa infusion to help prevent damage to my bones that can occur after cancer treatments. The check-in went great but when I went to have my infusion I found out my labwork showed my magnesium count was low. So after the quick 15-minute infusion, they started an IV of magnesium which has to have an extremely slow diluted flow so I wouldn't get an upset stomach. More than 2 1/2 hours later the procedure was complete. Missing most of the day put me even further behind. Wednesday I thought I was getting a handle on my work so I wrapped up my day on time to go to Thomas's last baseball game of the season. What a great time. He was so funny. When he came up to bat he shouted to us "I think I have a blister on my foot". Then he hit the ball like a champ and ran the bases favoring his foot. When he went to the dugout his mom went to check it out and she found he had not put on the right socks. She quickly took off her socks for him to wear. He went to play in the field still favoring his foot, but his next time up to bat he shouted "it doesn't hurt anymore". I wish I had a tape of the funny voice he used. He had everyone laughing. So baseball ended on a high note with a win. Soccer practice started the next day. Both he and Charlotte will be playing soccer with their parents coaching. Those matches should be fun to watch. Friday night we hit the road to watch Remi play in a baseball tournament. The mosquitoes were out in full force. The boys were dancing and swatting on the field even after being sprayed with bug spray. Those of us on the sidelines were doing the same. They lost the game (we are blaming the bugs) but we went back yesterday for 2 more games. It was a hot one, full sun, high 80's, humid, with an occasional breeze. They lost the 1st one 10-9 and won the second 10-4. Remi pitched in both games and with some strikeouts. He also played center field and shortstop. I have to keep reminding myself this is the first year he has played and he is at the same level as the other kids. Mr. Dollycas says he is a natural athlete and Daughter #1, his mom, says he gets the skills from her. No matter where he got the skills he and his teams have been so much fun to watch. This may have been the last games with football starting soon but his coach said they have been invited to a tournament in August. The powers that be will have to decide if they will compete. On the way home from the games Remi and his parents stopped to get Papa John's Pizza and Dunkin' to celebrate and Remi slammed his finger in the door at Dunkin'. A trip to urgent care, thankfully not broken, but sprained, it looks like it hurt. Today, I will be hitting the emails again and taking some more steps to get caught up on everything. Understanding Morpheus8 Results: Longevity and Expectations
In the realm of aesthetic treatments, Morpheus8 has emerged as a revolutionary option for achieving smoother, tighter, and more youthful-looking skin. As individuals seek non-invasive solutions to address concerns like fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity, Morpheus8 stands out for its ability to deliver impressive results with minimal downtime. If you're considering this innovative treatment at a dermatology clinic in Torrance, it's natural to wonder: How long do Morpheus8 results last? Let's explore.
What is Morpheus8?
Morpheus8 is a cutting-edge skin rejuvenation treatment that combines microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) energy. By delivering controlled micro-injuries to the skin's deeper layers and stimulating collagen production, Morpheus8 effectively tightens and remodels the skin, improving texture, tone, and overall appearance. This treatment is safe for all skin types and can target various areas of the face and body, making it a versatile option for addressing a range of concerns.
Understanding Morpheus8 Results
The longevity of Morpheus8 results can vary depending on several factors, including individual skin characteristics, treatment settings, and lifestyle factors. While some individuals may notice immediate improvements in skin texture and tone following their initial treatment, optimal results typically become more apparent over the following weeks and months as collagen production continues to increase.
Duration of Results
On average, patients can expect Morpheus8 results to last anywhere from one to three years. However, it's essential to understand that maintenance treatments may be necessary to preserve and enhance these results over time. Your dermatologist or Morpheus8 specialist can provide personalized recommendations based on your unique skin concerns and goals.
Factors Influencing Longevity
Several factors can influence the longevity of Morpheus8 results:
Skin Aging: As the natural aging process continues, collagen production naturally declines, which can affect the longevity of Morpheus8 results.
Sun Exposure: Prolonged sun exposure can accelerate skin aging and diminish the effectiveness of Morpheus8 treatments. Protecting your skin with sunscreen and limiting sun exposure can help preserve your results.
Skincare Routine: Following a consistent skincare routine that includes products designed to support skin health and collagen production can complement Morpheus8 treatments and extend their longevity.
Lifestyle Habits: Factors such as smoking, poor nutrition, and excessive alcohol consumption can negatively impact skin health and contribute to premature aging, potentially affecting the duration of Morpheus8 results.
Maintaining Results
To maintain the results of your Morpheus8 treatment, your dermatologist may recommend periodic maintenance sessions. These follow-up treatments can help stimulate collagen renewal and prolong the benefits of your initial treatment, ensuring that you continue to enjoy smoother, firmer, and more radiant skin.
Consult with Morpheus8 Specialists
When considering Morpheus8 treatment, it's essential to consult with experienced and qualified specialists who can assess your skin concerns, customize a treatment plan tailored to your needs, and provide guidance on post-treatment care and maintenance. Unlock The Secret Time Management Strategies for Busy Entrepreneurs

It is an absolute fact that time doesn’t stop for anyone. Everyone has to manage their lives by mastering the clock. This invaluable skill is utterly rewarding, even more so when you have an Entrepreneurial mindset and personality. Being an entrepreneur requires you to be distinct from the rest of the world. You need specific personal and professional qualities that involve planning, launching, growing, and scaling a business through wide research, strategies, networking, marketing and other relevant activities. To juggle all such activities, Entrepreneurs have to multitask and make careful decisions for each step to ensure success. Therefore, Time management is crucial and indispensable for them in the long run. Here are some top-grade time management tips that help busy people get by each day. Schedule Everything If you rely only on your memory, it will betray you at one point in time. It is better to schedule everything and stick to it. If possible, you should separate your schedule into 3 main parts, including your personal activities, business activities and time for your loved ones. For busy entrepreneurs, one can’t deny the value of writing down every task at hand. If traditional scheduling techniques don’t work for you, embrace the technology and decide what works best for you. Even if you are a habitual player on new online casinos, manage your time and schedule a separate time for your leisure activities so that they won’t hinder work. Prioritize Tasks When you have so many tasks at hand, it is essential to know what is more important than the others. Have you ever heard about the Eisenhower MMatrix? It is a handy tool to categorize your tasks based on their importance and urgency to manage your time effectively. The matrix contains four quadrants for you to fill in, as follows: - 1st Quadrant - Important as well as Urgent tasks - 2nd Quadrant - Important but Non-urgent tasks - 3rd Quadrant - Urgent but Unimportant tasks - 4th Quadrant - Non-urgent and Unimportant tasks. By prioritizing the tasks based on quadrants, it is easier to focus on vital tasks and truly contribute to your business goals. Break Tasks into Smaller & Manageable Steps Managing your time to accommodate every important aspect of your schedule can be nerve-wracking. It is best to simplify major tasks by breaking them down into simpler and more manageable steps. Complex tasks can be time and energy-consuming. But simplifying them into steps helps you conserve your energy and provide a better understanding of each step. For instance, if you run an Interac casino and want to create a foolproof marketing strategy, it is best to divide steps into understanding the latest trends, consumer market preferences, what you lack compared to others, etc. Clearly, dividing the steps needed to achieve the ultimate goal helps you gain the upper hand over the other competitors. Develop a Road Map It may sound ridiculous to impulsive people, but a roadmap is the actual treasure map to guide you toward success. It is only natural to get stuck at a bottleneck where it seems impossible to break through when you are running a business. But a map indicating all the essential aspects of steps can help you develop a strategy to overcome the ordeal. Without a roadmap, you might repeat some tasks or spare some time out of everyday work to create a plan for the next step. This wastes a lot of time and also builds up stress over time. A better approach is determining your goal and creating a plan with milestones to reach the top. Set time limits for each milestone, and upon achieving them, celebrate it to encourage your employees and colleagues to keep working hard together with a clear picture in mind. Find Ways To Automate Today is the age of working smart, not hard. Working hard is not equivalent to the number of hours you spend completing the tasks. Instead, it means working efficiently in less time to cover more. Look around you; the world is filled with smart innovation to help you deal with every kind of work. Smart entrepreneurs don’t have time to spend hours on a single task. They find ways to automate the tasks so they can focus on more pressing matters at hand. So, use technology and take advantage of it to streamline your operations and automate tasks. Advanced analytics software, AI platforms and time management apps can help you save time while boosting productivity all the same. Final Thoughts To be successful, you first need to transform yourself. Time is ticking; you are responsible for using it and getting things done for a brighter future. Adapt the tips we have mentioned earlier, and see the difference between your past and future self. Read the full article

1st Day - One day (I) (Scene 3)
I feel sorry for Issei, but I should prioritize work. I didn't promise to be there, but I said I'd do my best to be there, so I should do so.
"No, sorry, Issei. I've got plans, so can we finish it some other time?" "Plans…? Oh, you must mean your work. Sorry to trouble you. This isn't an urgent matter. Don't worry about me and go to work."
"Sorry. I'll continue first thing tomorrow morning, so can we call it even?" "Hm? I told you, it's not that important. The urgent stuff was finished this morning. You can finish the rest when you're free, Emiya." "I see. Then can I finish it when I don't have work?"
"Sure. I'll rely on you again then, Emiya." Issei says farewell and leaves the classroom.
"―――Well." I should hurry off too. Even though there's no set time to be there, I should head for the neighboring town if I'm going to go to work.
"…Geez, I thought I was only helping out, but they gave me 30,000 yen." Call it receiving a windfall, I guess.
Copenhagen, the place where I worked today, is like a liquor store and a bar, and a lot of people are needed to restock inventory. It's a big job that takes at least five people, and it doesn't hurt to have more help.
But the boss just said to everyone in his usual tone, "If you can come and help, please do." …Completely relaxed about it.
But as it turned out, I was the only one who came, along with the boss and his daughter, Neko-san.
"You idiot! There's no way people will come if you ask like that!" Neko-san was scolding the boss, but I showed up to be a victim, defying their expectations. They welcomed me with a cheer, and we decided to clean up the storage area as best we could.
――――And so, before we realized, two hours had passed and we'd finished restocking the inventory.
"I'm surprised. Shirou, are you some kind of Brownie or something?" After work, the boss eats a brown cake while being impressed.
"Not at all. I'm just used to heavy jobs and I've worked here long enough to know where things are. I haven't been working here since I was small for nothing, you know!"
"Oh yeah. Has it been five years already?" "About that long. You were the only ones that would hire me right after my father died." "Whoa. No wonder I'm feeling old."
He eats his rum cake. Neko-san is drinking hot sake next to him. The family is well balanced, as the boss likes sweet things while his daughter likes spicy things.
So. "But you really helped us out. I can't just give you a cake for all this work, so here's a token of my appreciation." He hands me three 10,000 yen bills. A reward unmatched for the three hours of work I did, much more that I would get for even a week's work.
"Oh, thank you." I hesitate, but decide to accept what I'm given.
And as I'm leaving Copenhagen… "…Mmm. Hold on, Emiya-n. Who'd you hear about today from?" Neko-san stops me while curled up in front of the heater.
"Um, I think it was Furukawa-san." "…Man, that idiot. Don't push your work onto a student. Well, so you came here today even though you didn't have to?" "Uh… well, it was like, 'come and help if I wasn't busy'."
"―――Furukawa's an idiot, but so are you. Oh well. You never turn down anyone asking for help, do you? You took care of the store when dad and I got sick too."
"Hm? I don't think that's true. I don't take impossible jobs. I only accept things I can do."
"…Hm. But you were sick too back then. I don't really care. But what I'm saying is, you're a good person and a bit stupid, so I'm a bit worried. Tell Fujimura to come and see me from time to time."
Neko-san circles her finger while drinking some hot sake. She seems to think I'm a firefly or something.
"Okay. …So, just tell Fuji-Nee that?" "Right. See ya, don't push yourself too hard."
"…Wow, I'm already past the bridge." I made it from the neighboring town of Shinto back into Miyama City while I was daydreaming.
I walk through the moonlit town. Walking up the road, I notice that there aren't any people around.
The time is around seven-thirty. There should be people around at this time, but there's no sign of anyone.
"…Oh yeah." There was some crime here in Miyama City a few days ago. A burglar murdered someone, I think. That must be why there's no one around and why the school curfew became six o'clock.
"…Gas leaks and murder, huh? It's been getting dangerous lately." No wonder there are fewer people walking around at night. It's getting too dangerous to let Sakura go home on her own. Sakura's house is in the residential area on the other side of town. Starting tonight, I should walk her hom―――
"…Huh?" For a moment, I can't believe my eyes. There is someone on the road which I thought was empty. The person is standing above me as if looking down at me.
"―――――――" Without realizing it, I hold my breath. The silver-haired girl smiles and descends the hill without a sound.
As she passes…
"You'll die if you don't summon it soon, Onii-chan."
She says something strange.
I go up the hill and reach my house. As the lights are on, Sakura and Fuji-Nee must be home already.
I smell dinner the moment I enter the living room. At the table are Sakura and Fuji-Nee, in the middle of dinner. It seems the main dish tonight is chicken in cream, and Fuji-Nee, who loves white sauce, is in a good mood.
"Welcome home, Senpai. We're sorry for starting without you." "Sorry I'm late. I wish I could have come home earlier." "No, you made it. Could you wait a bit? I'll get your dinner ready right away." "Yeah, all right. I'll go and wash my hands, so make sure Fuji-Nee doesn't eat my food." "Yes, I will."
I return to my room. It's a fairly empty room compared to the shed, but since I don't have any hobbies, I think it's quite decorated. Most of them are random things Fuji-Nee has left here, though.
I wash my hands, change, and return to the living room to find my dinner ready.
"Itadakimasu." "I hope it is to your liking…" Sakura is terribly modest.
Her cooking skills have vastly improved in the past year. She has me completely beaten at Western-style foods, and I can barely beat her at Japanese food. Neither of us have touched Chinese. I'm pleased my pupil is getting better, but it's kind of depressing when the teacher is defeated by the student.
"―――Mmm." It's as good as I expected. Chicken becomes harder the longer you cook it, so it's juicier and tastier if you roast it before cooking it even though it's tedious. That's done perfectly here. It's a master's skill, forever beyond the clumsy Fuji-Nee.
"How is it, Senpai…? Um, I think I did quite well today…" "It's perfect. The sauce is great too. I guess you have me completely beat when it comes to Western food."
"Yeah, meaty food is much better since Sakura-chan started cooking." With that. Fuji-Nee, who had been preoccupied with her food, lifts up her head.
"Oh, Shirou. A student mustn't come home this late." …Ack. It seems she's in a bad mood now that she's seen my face, even though she was happy because of dinner.
"Geez, I bet you were helping someone again. That's good, but at least come home early at times like this. I even told you it was dangerous in homeroom. I said it for your sake, you know?"[l]
"…Uh, can't you tell me that at home instead of in homeroom?" "You wouldn't listen if I told you here. It's more effective if I tell you at school." "…Sensei, I think that's abusing your authority. You shouldn't mix work and private life."
"No, it's not enough for Shirou unless I go that far. He's always on the losing side because he's the one helping everyone else. He should at least come straight home and relax sometimes, that idiot." "Hey, what do you mean by idiot? I'm not on the losing side if I help someone and they're helped by it."
"…Man. I wonder if you got that from Kiritsugu-san. I worry because you're like that." I don't exactly know how she's worried, as she's energetically munching down her dinner.
"…Um, Fujimura-Sensei. From what you said, has Senpai been like this since he was small?" "Yup, he's always been like that. He's the type that goes to help people in trouble. But he's not meddlesome, he's just a bit precocious."
Fuji-Nee laughs dangerously. "Fuji-Nee, I'll get mad if you say too much. You too, Sakura. Don't ask such boring questions."
I glare at them. Fuji-Nee clicks her tongue and backs down, but… "Fujimura-Sensei, please continue." Sakura is taking the lesson seriously.
"Then I shall. See, Shirou is a person who can't ignore someone in trouble. It's like helping the weak and defeating the strong. In the essay he wrote as a child, he said 'My dream is to become a superhero'."
"――――" …She's talking about things from so long ago. But it's all true, so I don't interrupt. Anyways, becoming a superhero is a goal I must not stray from even now.
"Wow. Senpai was a real kid." "Yeah, he was some kid. He would go and help girls being picked on by much older kids, and he'd do the chores around the house because Kiritsugu-san wouldn't.
Man, he was so cute and innocent back then, so why did he grow up so crooked?"
"Probably because of you. Kids think a lot when they see bad adults. Learn to make your own dinner before you say anything like that." "――――Wha…" Fuji-Nee crumbles. I thought she might drop her head and repent, but…
"Uhh, Onee-chan is sad. Sakura-chan, can I have another bowl?" Fuji-Nee asks for her third bowl.
Relaxing after dinner, it's almost nine o'clock.
"Well, what shall I do?" There's some time before my evening training. I should―――

After my hours at work were slashed due to my prolonged absence with Covid (which is itself a shitty thing), I got on a state health care assistance program. It covered pretty much everything, or had a miniscule (<$5) copay. It was wonderful. For the first time since I aged off my parents' insurance, I didn't have to worry about a single injury or illness wiping out my bank account.
When I had emergency surgery followed by like five days in the hospital last summer, I never saw a bill. It was just taken care of, and I could concentrate on healing instead of panicking about the cost. I felt so blessed.
Urgent care clinic visits? Paid for.
Emergency room visits? Paid for.
My every-other-week visits to my therapist? Paid for.
My GP wants more blood work to see how new meds are working? Paid for.
Need to see a specialist for a consult? Paid for.
It was a Godsend. I could actually get the care I needed, when I needed it, without considering the cost. After the missed work and health care bills from Covid drained my bank account to the lowest point it had been since I got my first job in 2001, that was a huge load off my mind.
I had to fight tooth and nail for months to get my hours back at work, to the point where lawyers were about to get involved. Long story. But I finally got back to where I was before Covid, working 19 hours a week. Great!
Except it wasn't great, because it put me back over the amount I can earn and remain on the state assistance program. I got the letter today saying my coverage will stop July 1st.
I'm devastated. I'm livid. I feel like I literally cannot afford to live.
I'm already living with my parents (who are aging and have their own health problems) and with the economy and inflation the way they are (and the housing situation here being what it is) there's no hope of having my own place anytime soon--even without this health care mess!
For a variety of health reasons I am not able to work full time. The part time job I do have is my career, my passion, the place I belong, and where I have worked for over twenty years.
God have mercy on me and any other person who cannot afford to exist in this time and place. It's a travesty that in 2024, with the amazing medical technology that exists, a single adult with a regular job cannot afford to access it.
Yes, I'll go on the Healthcare Marketplace and look for a plan that I can afford that gives me somewhat of a buffer between a medical crisis and bankruptcy. But that's all it is. A speedbump on the road to financial ruin.
I don't expect to get everything for free, although it was amazing while it lasted. But there's really no middle ground between "Oh gosh, you're so poor we won't charge you anything" and "Haha, you need an MRI scan, blood work, I.V. medication, an emergency room visit, and almost a week in the hospital? Hand over your life's savings, sucker."
It's just one more symptom of the rot at the heart of modern America. It's all about making the 1% richer, and screw the rest of us. I don't want a yacht, a private jet, or an overseas vacation home. I just want to live a normal, modest existence in which I can work for a living and thus afford basic dignities. Health care should be a human right, not a luxury.
I'd say "eat the rich" but they're so full of fat, drugs, and bullshit that we'd just get sick and need to visit a hospital, defeating the purpose.
It's times like this I really wish I had the resources to move to a place that has a proper health care system, less bigotry, and less gun violence. Somewhere where "all human beings deserve a roof over their head and medical care, regardless of their religion, ethnicity, sexuality, gender identity, health, addictions, neurodivergence, employment, skin color, and political leanings" isn't an explosively controversial statement. Somewhere where billionaires and trillionaires don't exist and megacorporations aren't killing the planet.
Maybe Norway. My great-grandfather was born there. I've never been there and don't speak the language but I'd figure something out. (Kidding...mostly.)
I hate the American health care system. I hate the American health care system. I hate the American health care system. I hate the American health care system. I hate the American health care system. I hate the American health care system. I hate the American health care system. I hate the American health care system. I hate the American health care system. I hate the American health care system. I hate the American health care system. I hate the American health care system.
I hate the American health care system.
I hate the American health care system.
I hate the American health care system.

“So you’re not coming home today.”
It was not a question when you knew his answer would be the same, and it had been like this for the past week, even if today was Sunday.
Gaara hummed on the other side of the line, not fully paying attention to how you were struggling to contain your sobs while choking out the words. Before you said goodbye to him, his Advisor pushed the door open and rushed into his office.
“You need to attend a dinner today, Kazekage-sama.”
You could hear her voice through your call with your husband, and your body immediately tensed up. His Advisor continued, “I will come with you to provide the documents.”
“I’d appreciate that, thanks,” Gaara replied in an instant and whispered back at you, “gotta’ go, Y/N.”
With that, he cut you off promptly and turned to review the proposals piled on his desk.
After doing the dishes and cleaning your house thoroughly, you still had a long night ahead. Given that the weather was exceptionally pleasant tonight, you decided that it was worth taking a stroll around the village and visiting a friend of yours, who was running a successful restaurant not too far from your husband’s office. You could go pay him a visit on your way back, too, if by any chance he was there. Smiling at the thought, you quickly changed your clothes and headed out.
A stroll that you thought would be relaxing turned out to bring waves of uneasiness through your body. The closer you got to her restaurant, the dizzier you felt. Something kept nagging at the back of your mind despite your effort to rid of it, something you could not exactly pinpoint.
And the moment you passed the see-through glass panel of your friend’s restaurant was when you knew it.
You stopped your track abruptly, standing dumbfoundedly on the side of the street, staring at the two people sitting inside the restaurant. It struck you hard when the both of them were the two people you were awfully familiar with—painfully. A red-haired was sitting with his back to you, but you would always recognize this man—your husband, and the woman was no one else other than his Advisor. Recalling their conversation that you overheard earlier, your temple pulsated, and you felt your knees about to give up under your weight. The fact that they were sitting alone at a table for two sent the earth crashing beneath your feet.
You were deliberating whether or not you should make a turn and rush back home before tears streamed down your face or force your way in and reason with him, and your friend suddenly recognized you from inside. She happily called out for you, “Y/N, what are you doing standing there! Come inside, it’s cold out there!”
“I—,” you stuttered, glancing to Gaara’s table, and your eyes widened when he looked back at you, his expression unfathomable. “It’s fine, I was just passing by. I still need to make a trip to the g-grocery store.”
She walked outside with you and stood with both hands on her hips, frowning. “The store is closed right now because the owner had some urgent matters to take care of. Why don’t you just come inside before you get me to freeze to death out here?”
Her personality was always that of jubilance for being able to brighten the mood anywhere she went, but this time, you found it impossible to even bring your lips into a curve. Your friend quickly noticed your abnormal behavior and refused to let you stay outside any longer, dragging you into her restaurant relentlessly. But Gaara suddenly approached you both and pulled you with him, marching to a less crowded place of her restaurant. He gave your friend a nod before taking off, “Sorry, I need to talk to Y/N.”
“What do you want to talk to me about?” You tried to keep your voice even, but the hiccups between your words were obvious to him.
“It’s not like what you saw.”
“I know,” you swiftly wiped your unshed tears. “You don’t have to explain anything.”
“W-Were you crying?” Gaara lowered his head with worry, and you dodged his gaze, sniffling. He sighed, “I’m sorry, I—”
“It’s your work. I understand,” you cleared your throat and stepped away, “I didn’t mean to interrupt you and—”
“Y/N…”
“I need to go now.” You looked down at your feet and bit your lip, “You can go back and continue what you were doing.”
“There isn’t anything romantic going on between us.” He chased after you, but you did not say anything, still making your way out of the place. Gaara suddenly wrapped both arms around your waist tightly and pulled you into his warm embrace. “We were planning, well, a vacation—”
“A vacation?” Your heart throbbed at his testament.
“No, that’s not what I meant—”
“I know you’d be…helpless, Kazekage-sama. Just then, someone suddenly cut Gaara off of his explanation. You raised your head up to find his Advisor standing in front of the two of you. She wore a big smile on her face, having no intention to contain the satisfaction of seeing her superior frustrated because he could not convey something as simple as… “Kazekage-sama wanted me to help plan a vacation with you next week.”
“What?” You were startled, breaking away from his grip to glance at your husband in bewilderment. “But he said he has work to—”
“He has been working overtime to save a full week off for you.” She chuckled, and your friend suddenly popped out from behind, nodding in approval. The Advisor continued, pointing to your friend, “We went here because we thought she might know what you like, but we didn’t know you’d also be here.”
“I had no idea you'd think that Gaara was cheating because there’s no way he would do anything behind your back.” Your friend admitted.
“I planned to keep this a secret,” the red-haired mumbled.
“I’m s-sorry for misunderstanding everything,” you apologetically whispered, tugging on his shirt.
“You didn’t do anything wrong,” he pecked your forehead lovingly. Then, guided you out of the restaurant with his hand around yours, not forgetting to give his Advisor and notice. “I think I’ll be starting my vacation a few hours earlier if you don’t mind. And thanks for the help!”
