Maybe/maybe not, but it might be very likely (I may have to try asking around. Aviation's a very tiny and close knit community. Everyone knows someone 😉). Also having known many many LGBTQA+ older aviators who'vebeen out for decades, it might be likely. :) NGPA (National Gay Pilot's Association) has been around officially since 1990. I met the founder (a year ago exactly today) and told me he and his husband had been out since about the 60s.

Here's another 🏳️‍🌈 flying machine. One of my teachers rn mentioned painting a rainbow (or similar to this one,i cant remember exactly what model she said it was) owned by a gay pilot back in the 90s who used to fly one around for scenic tours.

To quote a flying friend "aviation is inherently queer." Public media's idea of an aviator is probably the generic middle aged straight white cis guy, not surprising tbh. But even many of aviation's founding pioneers were LGBTQA+! :D

(I understand what you meant, but part of me wants to belive, just a little 👉👈 and while I'm on a 🏳️‍🌈 aviation history train, here's a little bit of stuff I've been wanting to share for while, if that's cool )

LGBTQA+ aviators even go back as far as airships and even the 1st airplanes. Santos-Dumont was out back in the 1900s! He's one of the most famous & accomplished early aviators at the time (I've posted one of his biplanes a few weeks back). Many accredited him to have achieved the 1st true airplane flight before the Wright brothers. Some (Wilbur Wright) even suspect Orville Wright was gay too. Orville never married, but he did live with his long time chilhood friend, Edwin Sines later in their lives.

Even Amelia Earhart (who's suspected to have been bi) and Elanor Roosevelt (also a pilot) were suspected to have been in an affair at one point. Just gals who were good friends joyriding a plane in the middle of the night. 😉

I'm crying rn cause I just found this old photo from 1980 of one of the sisters of the DC-3/C-47 I've been playing with. She and the Cessna 190(?) are gay. 🥺💕💕💕
