Piper Duval was born to a single seventeen year old mother who did not want, nor really love her. For the first five years of Piper’s life, she was taken care of more by her maternal grandparents. To this day, she has no idea who her biological father is.
Just after her fifth birthday, her mother came home and told her to pack up her things, she was leaving with her. When she arrived at her new home, she met her new step-father as well. Jed was just as much of a flake as Jennifer, and he certainly did not make life any easier for the two of them.
Within a few months, the screaming and crying began. Then the throwing of objects. Then she had witnessed her mother be hit for the first time. It often scared the little girl, but she did her best to mind her business and hide away.
It wasn’t until her little sister came home from the hospital three years later that things got particularly bad for Piper. That’s when Jed became abusive to her. The little girl that used to hide away was soon unable to run anywhere.
This lasted for two or three years before her grandparents took custody of Piper. They did their very best to give her the life she deserved, but the damage was done. The Piper that was once rainbows, sunshine, and giggles, was now sorrow and fear.
Piper, for all of her demons, never struggled academically and was accepted into every single university she applied to. She had hopes of one day being a history professor, but her insecurities stopped her from going that far. After finishing college with her degree in hand, she became the new curator of The White Lady Maritime Museum at the base of the lighthouse.
She had finally gotten her life back on track when she discovered she was pregnant. At 29, she welcomed her son, Ryder Hunter Duval. Every fear that Piper had before has since resurfaced with the birth of her son. She struggled on a day to day basis with PTSD and her insecurities. Her fears are especially worse now with the Starlight Killer back.

Ever since the curtain came down at the last 1989 World Tour show in Melbourne I’ve waited and waited for the day I might get to see you return to our shores for shows. In that time, almost 3 years so much has changed but what has changed the most is my happiness because of somebody I met because of you Taylor.
From the moment I met Maddie @s-wiftlie I knew she was special and every day we have been together I’ve dreamed of the day we would get to go to one of your shows together and that day is almost upon us.
Lyrics that deeply resonate between us both, the outfits you will see us wear at the Perth show represent the journey we have both been on to find each other. A frozen blue heart adorns Maddie’s chest on a dress that is laden with icicles. With frosted makeup, she holds an ice cube sign that reads “my love had been frozen deep blue”. This heart is shattered by the glimmering gold glow of my heart, that reads “but you painted me golden”.
I’d love to be able to thank you for all the positive change you’ve brought into my life and being able to meet you with my best friend and the person who means the most in the world to me would be the most amazing dream come true.
We’ll be travelling from Adelaide on the morning of the Perth show and you’ll find us in the crowd at the end of the left side runway in Section A2, Row B, Seats 16-17 where we’ll be dancing, jumping and screaming out every word!!
P.S. Maddie would looooove if you could sing Superman at the B-Stage that night.
