i know that the purpose of reading those assigned books w troubling topics or themes is not to like the characters or protagonists but im still bitter about being forced to read those books to pass a class lol

#toy txt post #1984...sucked. sorry i couldnt focus on any of these important themes yku wanna talk about bc its written from the perspective #of a fucking incel and im too distracted by being skeeved out about how some men see women? i know there have to be books out there that #can cover these complex themes and talk about them without like. the lasting imprint i got from the actual book is just #skeevy incel tries to have sex with a woman under a puritan authoritarian regime or whatever #i snapped in senior yr when i had to read into the wild and all the questions i had to answer for class abt the book where like #'what would you do if you were in his position?' and it just broke me so i went off about how i wouldnt BE in his position bc at no point #would i make the long list of shitty decisions he made that got him to his position! im sorry! i cannot put myself into this narrative bc i #think every single god damn decision he made was stupid from the very start and i Cannot understand. i cant. i dont get it.#i would not do it i simply wouldnt burn my cash in the middle of the desert bc my car broke down i dont know what to tell you #its not like he was forced into making the decisions he did by his circumstances. he had so many opportunities presented to him due to #wealth and privilege and i can understand him being disillusioned with society but thats as far as my understanding goes. i am never going #to willingly by choice end up choosing to go fuck off to live in the alaskan wilderness unless a lot of things change radically very quickly #that literally force me into it.#macbeth was fine. whatever. the things they carried....bro i read the whole thing and i dont know what it was trying to say #was it trying to say that everything fucking sucked? cos thats all i got. it was literally just like heres some fucked up scenarios.#the things they carried honestly just feels like wow fucked up if true. what else am i suppised to get from that?#the us govt bad for sending soldiers over there. us govt mistreats its soldiers. vietnam war was a mistake. some of these soldiers are #fucked up shitty ppl that explode puppies. theres a field of Shit for some reason. what do you want me to get from this. it sucked. okay i #believe you can i be done with this now? no? no i have to draw one of these dudes? okay fine #maybe we can find other complex stories to use in class that arent so painful #all of them remind me of the time i read ben carsons biography in order to get access to the last 2 twilight books in middle school.#back when reading was beyond easy #also i dont remember ever really talking about the rape culture of 1984 i think my teacher wanted to kinda uncomfortably gloss over and #ignore it.#idk maybe this is just me having issues w the school system and hating specific books #maybe im one of those tumblr dummies w no reading comprehension or smth who just Didnt Get it. i dont think into the wild should be banned #or burned i just dont think it should be Required Reading.#things i remember of 1984: the way the main char talks about how titillating some woman is but also how hideous and gross she is with her #heavy makeup and how hideous she is specifically bc he wants to fuck her but he cannot. things i dont remember: important themes
