Severus’ Journal #4:
“FATHER” (15/2/1960)
Oil Pastels -dated on the back, pasted into Severus’ journal entry
Tumblr media
Associated Entry (Severus-‘76):
Father made this drawing when he had me christened. I don’t remember it at all.
If he truly hates me so much, why does he keep all these drawings or photos? Maybe he still loves me a little, or at least, some version of me that used to exist.
On the back he wrote that he had never been so happy, and that I was his pride and joy. I definitely crushed his dreams for the future with how I’ve turned out. I would feel bad, but he’s probably crushed my soul to death, so I think he’s brought it on himself.
IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
Tobias wears a blue sweater and black/brown pants, cradling a baby Severus who is wrapped in a pink blanket and reaching up for his father.
IMAGE/JOURNAL LORE:
Tobias made a quick sketch of him holding Severus after his christening, as photography wasn’t allowed in the Russian Orthodox Church/Church Building, and Tobias/Eileen weren’t in the church as part of the ceremony.
Severus finds it while snooping around the house in summer of 1976.

Three single Jewish men sat next to each other onstage. One nursed a mostly-empty beer and scratched his graying stubble while another readjusted his kippah. To their right, separated by a blue divider, the bachelorette — wearing hot pink pants and sorting through a stack of cue cards — sat on her own.
Those in the audience at Caveat, a venue on the Lower East Side, knew what the contestants looked like, of course, but the bachelorette on stage did not. Nor did she know the men’s occupations or their names — nothing that could create any preconceptions. All they knew were each other’s voices, and their shame-free answers to some of life’s most personal questions.
From the men’s responses to probing questions — including “What Jewish icon was your role model growing up?” and “How many times have you been in love?” — the bachelorette would pick one man to have a dinner date with at a local Jewish restaurant.
Welcome to The Jewish Dating Game, a monthly live show that’s inspired by the long-running 1960s game show “The Dating Game.” This live, Jewish version of the game was launched in July by actor and writer Linnea Sage. Sage’s goal is to help contestants — and audience members — find their beshert, or soul mate.
What sets The Jewish Dating Game apart from a non-Jewish one? “I don’t think it would be as funny,” Sage told the New York Jewish Week. “At the end of the day, Jews have something special. We’ve got some pizzazz, you know, that I think is just endearing and entertaining to watch regardless.”
At Caveat on a Monday evening last month, the night’s bachelorette, Dina Plotch, excitedly dove into her questions, which had been written by Sage. “Ooh, this [question] is super important —  do or die,” she said after flipping to the cue card of her liking. The audience of approximately 75 “Jews and allies,” as the event’s description reads, waited with bated breath.
She leaned into her microphone: “Did we free Britney [Spears] too soon?”
“I don’t totally know what you mean,” Contestant 1 responded, with unabashed honesty that earned the room’s loud applause. Contestant 3 chimed in, saying he’d seen the documentary about Spears’ conservatorship and that “it seemed like we did it at the right time.”
Finally, Contestant 2 brought it all home: “To be honest with you, I go with bachelor number one’s answer. Because whatever is meant to be is meant to be, and you know what? God has a plan, and when she’s meant to be free, she’s meant to be free.” The audience went wild.
The idea for the Jewish Dating Game came to Sage while she was stuck in a creative rut this past spring. She and her husband, Paul Skye Lehrman, who co-produces the show, are both voice actors — and in May, the couple sued an A.I. company that cloned both of their voices without their permission.
“I had this huge reckoning with like, ‘What am I doing now for the rest of my life?’” Sage said. “Because the industry is changing so drastically.” Hosting The Jewish Dating Game, she added, has allowed her to tap into her background in theater and improv comedy.
Sage said she was also inspired by a growing need for involvement in the city’s Jewish community after Oct. 7. “I so quickly felt like I needed to be around my people as often as possible, and in as loving ways as possible,” she said.
She was already attending Jewish events organized by friends. “But I didn’t really think that that was going to be any part of my career,” Sage said. “I thought I was just sort of an attender.”
At large Shabbats organized by SHIUR — a group that aims to take “the ancient Jewish practice of text based discourse integrated with space, ritual, and practice to the world of art, diplomacy, culture and more” — she’d befriend other women who, as soon as they learned Sage was married, would ask to be set up with someone. “I would literally spend the rest of the evening shuffling nice Jewish boys in front of these women,” she said. “And like a live Tinder swipe, they’re just like, ‘Left, left, no, forget it.’ And I’m like, ‘Can we give these people a chance?’ Like, so much of attraction is based on getting to know somebody.”
Her Shabbat matchmaking attempts helped inspire The Jewish Dating Game — specifically, its focus on values and personalities rather than looks. But her “a-ha moment” happened when she literally woke up in the middle of the night with the idea. Sage, as she normally does when she dreams up an idea, went back to sleep. “If I wake up in the morning and I still remember it, then it was worth remembering,” she said.
Sage woke up still thinking about the idea — and she hasn’t stopped since. “I feel like the people on ‘Shark Tank,’ who are like, ‘This is my baby and this is all I do now,’” she said. “I literally don’t stop thinking about it.”
In July, Sage put on the first edition of The Jewish Dating Game, inspired by the matchmaking show that in 1978 infamously featured a contestant who later pleaded guilty to seven counts of murder. Said Sage, “I try to screen my contestants enough that I know they’re not serial killers.”
Other than refraining from murder, singles interested in a spot onstage must complete a submission form that asks for information like their line of work, level of religious observance and what they’re looking for in a partner. Then, after completing social media background checks and getting a feel for the candidates’ personalities, Sage uses her “yenta magic” to concoct a lineup with compatible pairings.
Plotch, the November bachelorette and full-time social worker who also acts, said she was excited to be featured. “I love being onstage and I date Jewish boys, so like, why not?” she said.
Plotch said the answer to the Britney Spears question is what clinched her decision. “Obviously, as a lady of a certain age, [I] grew up with Britney as the be-all and end-all,” she said, adding that she took notice that one of the bachelors was not only aware of Spears, but had even seen her documentary. “I felt that that was a sign that this was my beshert — or at least beshert for the evening.”
Earlier that night, the audience had been treated to a fun surprise. During Round 1 of the game, which featured a bachelor interviewing three bachelorettes, one of the contestants was Harmonie Krieger, a star of the Netflix series “Jewish Matchmaking.” Krieger, who’s since become a dating coach for the Lox Club, a Jewish dating app, said she had an “amazing” night — though she wasn’t kidding herself about her connection with the bachelor.
“Listen, from the beginning, I knew that guy wasn’t my type,” she said in an interview after the show. “He said, ‘I’m not really an island [vacation] person,’ and I’m like, ‘Oh no. This is not gonna work.’”
While not ultimately a winning contestant, Krieger expressed the importance of an event that facilitated Jewish matchmaking in a time of rising antisemitism. “I’m Reform, I never grew up like I had to marry Jewish,” she said. But since Oct. 7, her view on the matter has shifted. “And now I feel such an inclination to, almost like, do my duty and carry it on.”
Beyond the matchmaking, Sage said her goal for the show is to provide “a night of Jewish joy” for all involved. Lehrman, Sage’s husband, said he’s seen that vision come to life.
“It’s not the easiest time to be publicly Jewish,” Lehrman said. “And the foundational thing for this show is there’s always a moment in the evening where I look up and see the audience, and there’s this feeling where people have allowed their guard to go down.”
Following two rounds of matchmaking, the house lights came on and audience members roamed the theater to mingle. People lined up to introduce themselves to contestants as if they were newly anointed celebrities. The room was abuzz with not only singles looking for a date, but also couples who were just there to enjoy the show.
Zach, 38, who attended with his wife, said he felt like “automatically, everyone’s already a friend you could talk to” because of their shared experiences: “We all had the same critical mother, we all had the same pressure to find a Jewish spouse — it’s like a fun way to kind of share that.”
He added, “I don’t even talk to the person in the elevator who [lives] on my hall of like, four people. No way. But, you know, you bring a bunch of young Jews together with some libations, and everyone’s having a good time.”
The next Jewish Dating Game is Monday, Dec. 23 at Caveat (21A Clinton St.). Get tickets and info here.

1959 Bad Naulheim Germany
"Elvis!" Cecelia moaned her thigh around his waist, giving him another angle to thrust with, "God, I missed you..." his breath coming out in soft pants. "Righ there~" She nearly sang out, her legs shaking in the German moonlight, her eyes were half-lidded as she arched her back. If only he could keep this image of her forever in his mind on his remaining lonely nights on base. "You like that sweetheart?" His hips started to sputter as he heard the sweet melody of moans leave her lips,
"See, you've learned a few things..." Her brown eyes looking deep into his soul,
"Might've..." He joked, leaving tender kisses on her nipples,
"Elvis!"
"Just think soon you'll be screamin my name like that on our Wedding night..." His hips went faster as his brow accumulated sweat, "If only it could come Fa-Ster!" She bit her lip, her eyes soaked in lust, his in pure admiration.
"Maybe it can..." Elvis smiled,
"What do you mean?"
"Let's get married tonight." He held her close,
"El..."
"Cil, I mean it, you, me, no press?" He added as she gave him her full attention,
"What about family?"
"Ah, we'll have a big public Wedding when I return for good." He smiled, pulling out of Cecelia as she grinned, "So..."
"Well, go! It's bad luck to see the bride before the wedding!" She pushed him out the door.
"Cece!"
"What cold feet?"
"Try a cold ass..."
"Oh, Right!" Throwing his boxers at him. When Cecelia walked towards the car. Elvis looked at her in shock. Her hair was curled in a perfect wedding style, but he had wondered what was in that bag of hers,
"You look amazing in your formals..."
"Thanks, honey, but..."
"Shssh just drive."
Elvis waited for Cecelia at the alter as she disappeared to the bathroom, Charlie, who Elvis had called, walked Cecelia down and Elvis' jaw nearly dropped on the floor, to Cecelia her dress was nothing spectacular but to Elvis, he was impressed that she had a white dress ready. As the ceremony went on the two couldn't help but be happy at what they had done, it was sudden and impulsive but it was a them kind of thing.
"Congrats once again Mr. and Mrs. Presley."Charlie winked watching Elvis sneakingly carry her over the threshold. Their giggles stiffened,
"How's it feel?"
"How's what feel?"
"To be my wife." He whispered hoping not to wake anyone,
"It feels... Great."
A week passed and Cecelia was on her way soon back to Memphis, taking her wedding band and placing it by his other ring around her neck, Cecelia gave him a kiss and a salute.
"At ease soldier."
"I'll miss you..."
"See you 1960..."
March 1960 Memphis Tennesee
"Would he like red...No...no pink?" She looked at her lipstick, "Mmmm, mix 'em." She said to herself one foot in her pantyhose the other bare, she was bouncing around getting dressed for his return party, her hair halfway done, taking out her pin-curls. "Wiggle Dress..." She mumbled falling over as she heard laughter,
"Well, don't you look... Sexy."
"Elvis! You're back! Don't look at me!"She blushed as he walked closer, "Me not look at my wife not gonna happen..."

Vintee/Vee Alastor Au Designs (Au: In Voice and Visuals)
Hey everyone. So I finally got around to making the different looks for Alastor in my au "In Voice and Visuals" a.k.a Alastor joined the Vees when Vox asked him. (Which in this au takes place around 1950s-1960s).
For these suits I tried to reference REAL suits from different time periods. I also removed Alastor's bowtie in favor of a tie. Mostly cause I feel like it fit Alastor's gentleman style more. I also referenced different hair styles from the time periods.
Also single-breasted suit refers to there being one column of buttons.
ALSO I tried to keep Alastor's suits unique and tried to separate them from a very popular character (*cough* onceler *cough*).
I also tried to design and give Alastor looks that kept in mind his mixed heritage. Feel free to voice your thoughts! (Also in my art, when Alastor goes demon mode, I will either use radio symbols or will use distorted letters).
BTW, for these references for Alastor's pose I did trace a frame from the show, which is below:
Tumblr media
With that said, let's see Alastor's different looks in this au.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mostly kept Alastor's color scheme. I may exaggerate his suit's lapel/collar in the future.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, this Alastor look is when Alastor joins the Vees and takes on the name Vintee (from the word VINTage, with an ~ee ending. So pronounced VINT-E).
I wanted to really experiment with his color scheme. Cause with Valentino, there would be alot of red and pink together. So I went with green as his main color. With his suit having a checkered pattern (made with a free procreate brush I used).
Storywise for this au: There will be a moment where Alastor tries dying his hair alone. Only for Vox to find him and we get some insight into Alastor’s struggles as a mixed man in the 1920s-1930s.
I also replaced his monocle with a small pair of glasses that rest on his nose. Since his ears can't exactly support his glasses. Alastor also wears eyeshadow and eyeliner.
Around this time flared pants were becoming popular. So Vintee/Vee Alastor would keep up with fashion. Even without Velvette being there to help him with his look.
BTW Alastor's casual look refers to when he isn't wearing his suit coat. Which he will only do around Vox, MAYBE he'll stay that way when Valentino and VOX are both around. And once Velvette joins, after some time, he'll also feel comfortable enough to not have his suit coat on around her and/or Vox.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I gave Alastor less flared pants, removed any patterns, and gave him musical note earrings. Referring to his role in the Vees being related to audio. Like music, radio, and hosting alongside Vox on tv (as podcasts are not yet around).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So this is Alastor's look after Velvette joins and gives the Vees some words about their looks. I gave this look a bit more purple. I also gave him stripes. I also gave Alastor a bun (which I actually really love).
This is also Alastor's look before he disappears for 7 years.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In regards to Alastor's suit colors, I wanted them to be almost washed out. Largely because in this au, it's clear that Alastor is both tired and feeling trapped. So, almost grey color scheme I think gives the appearance of being tired and almost looking like he’s on the job.
Alastor's eyeshadow is gone, and his eyelids og color red is back.
This suit has a lot more red, referring to his old look and even referring to his rift from the Vees.
So that's all!
Share your thoughts and advice!
In the meantime, I'll work on Vox's different looks and maybe give his older looks a larger chest. (Since older tvs were heavy, and I think Vox would need a strong shoulder to even support his face/screen lol).

“BLACK”
🖤📰🎬🎱🐈‍⬛
Black is the essence of timeless elegance, versatility, and sophistication. Whether it’s for a formal event or a casual outing, black outfits never go out of style. It can be challenging to style black color from head to toe if you're unsure of how to prevent a boring appearance. However, how can you ensure that you stand out when wearing all black? Here are some style and confidence-boosting black outfit ideas to help you look better!
Honestly, black looks good to multiple colors—black with white, brown, red, pink, and basically with almost all colors including black itself! While reaching for black clothing might seem like a no-brainer for us, the color black has not been a feature of humanity’s wardrobes since the dawn of fashion history. This color has, popped up in Western fashion history in the thirteenth century. Black has then likely been the most "basic" colour of all during the twenty-first century. But, despite the fact that most people wouldn't consider black to be a happy colour, it is the colour that many people feel most at ease in. Morticia Addams, the titular family matriarch in the 1960s comedy sitcom The Addams Family, famously declared her love for the colour with the famous line, "Black is such a happy colour."
How about in real life? Personally, I also believe that Black could be a happy color since it is a reflection of a person’s self preference or personality. Now, if you would like to style an all black outfit, never forget to add accessories as it will instantly level up your whole outfit. In my preference, sliver accessories goes better than the gold ones as it gives more coolness and compliment in the eyes. However, if you prefer to look more luxurious and dramatic, combination with gold would be a better choice.
What about denim? Although it might seem obvious, wearing jeans and a black top or T-shirt is always a smart choice. In addition to being appropriate for nearly any type of occasion, it is also simpler to dress up a look. However, keep in mind the following rule: fitted top; loose jeans and loose top; fitted jeans. Though I'm not suggesting that you wear skinny jeans, but a bootcut or flared jeans would look wonderful! Not to mention, baggy pants and tops are extremely popular and highly stylish in this generation; try them out for a streetwear vibe!
Basically, black outfits are very simple to own, but it can give you instant coolness and/or elegance. You just have to learn to style it, be confident, and you are good to go!
PS: If you will wear an all black outfit, make sure to find the same shades of black!

Hello! 👋 What do u hc the clothing styles of the unfortunate gen kids as?/what sort of clothes do u think r their favourites? 🧥👔🧣
Unfortunate Gen Clothing's Styles/What Clothes They Wear Headcanons:
Violet: If she's not wearing her iconic dress (which either came from the 1950s or 1960s no one really knows) or her skirt (goes down to her knees, worn with white tights), she will be wearing purple in some way in her clothes (socks, shirt, jacket, etc). Violet also prefers to wear jeans and other durable material trousers with her blouses and shirts. The dress and skirt are the two exceptions.
Klaus: 100% dresses semi-formally. He likes bowties and regular ties, button vests (not sweater vest, thank you very much), chinos and dress pants and pleated pants, button-down shirts, and blazers. That's not to say Klaus doesn't have casual wear; he has a few windbreakers and jeans and regular short-sleeves shirt. He just won't be seen wearing those a lot in comparison.
Sunny: Haven't thought much on Sunny (given she is a baby throughout ASOUE), but I like to think as she grows up, she mainly wears casual clothes. Things like cargo pants, jeans, and shirts with graphics on them. Things that are loose on the body, but not too loose. Oh, that, and hair scrunches (yellow).
Duncan: Enjoys wearing wool/knit sweaters, as well as cardigans and sweater-vests (match with long button-downs) in cool weather a la early spring and fall. For warm spring and early summer weather, he wears striped short sleeves shirt or short button-down shirts, sometimes with a hoodie jacket with a zipper if it's on the colder side. For winter, he'll wear a strong windbreaker hoodie over whatever he's wearing. Regarding trousers, Duncan likes jeans, khakis, corduroys, and sweatpants (that last one is for home though).
Isadora: While she has wool/knit sweaters, she only wears them if it's a very cool/cold day that will remain cool/cold throughout. She mainly wears blouses with the puffy short sleeves, and sweatshirts with graphics on them. She's also the sort to wear double shirts; long-sleeve underneath and short-sleeve on top. On occasion, she will wear dress and skirts; Isadora prefers black dresses and skirts of any style and lengths. Most of the time, she wears Capri pants because she likes showing off her socks.
Quigley: Unlike his siblings, he wears rollnecks/turtlenecks. And unlike his siblings, he tends to cover up. He mainly wears long button-down shirts and sweatshirts, and if he has to wear a short-sleeve shirt, he'll wear a jacket over them. Trousers-wise, he wears sweatpants, jeans, drawstrings, and parachutes. When Quigley wears either his dress or skirt (the dress has long sleeves), he has to wear leggings with them. The only time he'll show his legs and arms is when at the beach because that would make him stand out a lot.
Carmelita. Mainly wears clothes of the color pink, white, and red especially pre-canon and in canon events. Her style here is poofy; she has to wear a poofy dress with ribbons or skirt, like a ballerina skirt (not tutu) or poodle skirt. She never wore pants until TPP. And in post-canon, Carmelita starts to wear more Capris and Pedal pushers (similar to Capris; they go higher up the lower calf), as well as wearing different colors (she got to change it up).
Fiona: Nautical Style Clothes(TM) is her main style. Anything that looks like it's something a sailor or navy person would wear or has a strong sailor/navy vibe to it (think sailor dresses, or the sailor blouse, or the most mainstream of them all, bell-bottoms), she has to get. Having live in a submarine all her life, Fiona finds herself wanting something that reminded her of her former home of the Queequeg. That said, she does has some non-Nautical clothes; overalls, jumper dresses, and rompers.
Friday: Having to wear only white on the Island, living on the mainland and seeing her options has Friday going over the moon with possibilities and combinations. Her main style in the first year in the Land of Districts is a colorful overalls (red, orange, or purple) or colorful denims (red, pink, sky blue), with a sweater (pastel colors usually) or sweatshirt with either her bright yellow or green sneakers.
Beatrice Baudelaire II: I also haven't given lot of thought for Bea II. I do like her wardrobe in Netflix ASOUE.The beret is something I really dig. I like to think she has more in different colors, like grey and white.
I hope you enjoy my surprisingly long answer, dear anon!

Hooray for nylon! This truly was the Mid-Century wonder fabric, a good example of scientific developments influencing fashion, and exploded into the 1950s in the form of full wide petticoats to go under the “New Look” style dresses (thank you to Christian Dior for introducing the flattering, feminine shape using obscenely generous amounts of fabric to twirl away the deprivation of the war years!) and also in the form of the frothiest, frilliest knickers and pants in all the colourful shades you could imagine, as opposed to the basic whites, pinks, and popular peach shades of previous decades. Whilst smaller “panties” started to become popular into the 1950s and 1960s, the French Knicker style still prevailed and I currently have an amazing collection of 1960s nylon knickers from iconic lingerie label “Vanity Fair” in the traditional wide-legged “shorts” style, in eye-popping bright citrus shades. Of course, we all know that hemlines shot up even further in the ‘60s, so briefs it was!

The 1970s - part 1
Some trends from the late 1960s carried through into the early 1970s, the Woodstock festival of peace and music marked the end of the 1960s hippie movement however, the hippie flower child look carried over into the first half of the decade in a non-restrictive bohemian silhouette with a heavy folksy influence.
Arts and crafts were very popular to the era, things such as tie-dye, batik, knitwear, crochet and macramé were present during this time and created a great sense of ease and comfort to early 1970s fashion.
1970s folk style.

Designers like Laura Ashley and Jessica McClintock popularized the prairie dress phenomenon. The Prairie dress was typically made up of romantic silhouettes with delicate details like floral prints, long billowing skirts, and lots of ruffles.

Thea Porter
Thea Porter pioneered bohemian chic, her shop in Soho instantly drew a crowd of rock and film stars, clients such as the Beatles and Pink Floyd to Elizabeth Taylor, Faye Dunaway and Barbara Streisand took a liking to her style. Thea Porter celebrated ethnic styles in Indian style prints, free flowing breezy gauzy tent dresses and wide legged pants.
Tumblr media
Thea Porter had seven signature looks:
the Abaya & Kaftan

the Gipsy dress
Tumblr media
the Faye dress

the Brocade-panel dress
Tumblr media
the Wrap-over dress
Tumblr media
the Chazara jacket
Tumblr media
Sirwal skirt

As well as this her fashion photography featured on the pages of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Women’s Wear
During the 1970s skirts could be seen in a variety of lengths, mini, midi or maxi. The maxi dress was a must have of the decade in a multitude of styles and shapes. Rich earthy tones dominated the era, warm browns, burgundy, rust, mustard, and avocado green took centre stage.
The 1970s saw women emerge in to the work place, they began to dress more "masculine" wearing pantsuits, day wear and separates echoed in the film'Annie Hall'. The image below shows Diane Keaton wearing a fitted vest with a collared white shirt and men’s neckties in the film.

From then on, the pantsuit became the next big thing. Bianca Jagger wore a YSL pantsuit at her wedding to Mick Jagger in 1971.

Every time I see this gifset come up, or people discuss the epilogue they always get one fundamental fact wrong - The three women are NOT all in the 1970s. The Epilogue is there to showcase who they went on to be after high school. One of the plans for S7 was to bring them through the decades with each episode (because the comics changed as time passed). But, it was too expensive so the Epilogue is an homage to that idea.
Fashion did not change as quickly as it does today. Also, "staples" as we know them today, weren't really a thing either. But, the reason why the outfits look very similar is that there are tendrils woven throughout because certain patterns/colors will always be fashionable. But, if you look at the designs of the blouses you'll see that Cheryl's are flowers, Betty is in paisley, and Veronica has a geometric pattern. All are wearing their "signature color" too.
Cheryl and Toni:
Though Cheryl is second in the gifset, she and Toni are shown in the 1960s. Anywhere from '67-69. Bell bottoms have a varied history but they began in the 60s with it's popularity among the flower power and free love crowds. Cheryl's bell sleeves are indicative of this too. You saw a lot of them within Mod fashions which is also reflected in her eye makeup. Lastly, the teased crown and straight locks of her hairstyle was pretty much gone in the 70s.
As for Toni jumpsuits were incredibly popular in the late 60s. Jumpsuits were definitely a staple in fashion throughout the mid to late 20th century. You can't see her waistline but given how the fabric of the blue of her top is the same as her pants makes me believe she was in one. Jumpsuits in the 60s had very wide legs compared to a more sleek and slimmer fit of the 1970s. The later decade also used a lot of details like pockets, belts, and pleating compared to the earlier decade using contrasting fabric and patterns in their overall design.
The couple lived in Oakland Hills which is outside of San Francisco and where the "Flower Power" movement began (Berkeley, CA).

Betty:
Yes, Betty is definitely in the 70s. The paisley, the feathered "Farrah" hair, the Gloria Steinem aviator glasses, this all fits. I mean, Betty was positioned as being Gloria Steinem in the epilogue. I would say the pink is a bit fantastical as the 70s had a lot of earth tones and metallics (Disco) for color palettes. The colors of the 70s were more jewel toned. The bright psychedelic colors of the 60s wouldn't make a full resurgence until the 80s. But, Pink has always been Betty's "Color". I would place the clip of Betty in 1977.

Veronica:
Like how the early '60s are very close to the late 1950s in fashion, so was the 1970s/80s cusp. The "power suits" we associate with the 80s and Neon didn't come until halfway through the decade. The affluence of the 80s didn't start until Regan's second term. The United States had a recession in the late 70s that we were still recovering from in the early 80s. Similar to identifying Cheryl in the 1960s, it's all in the details for Veronica. The shoulders of her blouse are puffed, the statement buttons of her vest, her cravat is smaller, and the peak-a-boo slit of her skirt. (Stranger Things does this very well when dressing the students in the first season. Many of them are wearing clothes from the late 70s because of their economic status.) Veronica's look was very much inspired by Nolan Miller (He was Hollywood costume royalty. He is most known for Dynasty but collaborated on many projects. I can totally see Veronica calling him an 'old family friend' lol).

Okay so some HCs of the OG T Birds and Pink Ladies' fashion changes in the 60s since they graduated from high school in 1960 :
. I think the OG T Birds gradually grow out of their ' rockabilly teen/youth ' phase and came to wear more ' respectable clothes like suits. Except 60s suits can be pretty funky so they love to add in some pop funk elements here and there
. Danny's more businessman like dad decides it's eventually time for his son to wear the Zuko family suits as a way to pass the torch to Danny. But then Danny starts to wear his dad's old suits in his own rock/funk style ( like how younger Jon Travolta often dresses in suits ). Well, times are changing and guess his family can't complain at that
. Sandy in college and eventually moving away with Danny means she spends less time with her rather conservative family ( she still visits sometimes ). So she traded her more full length dresses to more pencil skirts and some more pants. Still more onto the ' vintage romantic ' vibes except more edgy. And she came to wear her hair in shorter lengths like Jackie Bouvier often does
. You bet your ass the OG Pink Ladies came to sometimes try emulate Jackie Bouvier and Holly Golightly in style in college
. Basically they all wear more ' mature ' styles in their own ways and more onto ' Swinging 60s ' vibes

Vintage Look Ideas: A Guide to Retro-Inspired Fashion
Vintage Look Ideas: A Guide to Retro-Inspired Fashion
Vintage fashion has made a strong comeback in recent years, offering a unique blend of nostalgia and style. Retro-inspired outfits from past decades bring timeless elegance, color, and creativity into modern wardrobes. Whether you're seeking to recreate the look of the '60s or the '80s, vintage style offers endless possibilities to express your personality. In this guide, we'll explore some vintage look ideas to inspire your next fashion statement.
1. Why Choose Vintage Look Ideas?
Vintage fashion isn't just about wearing old clothes. It's about embracing the charm, craftsmanship, and originality of past eras. Vintage-inspired looks often feature high-quality fabrics, unique designs, and distinctive accessories that make you stand out. Moreover, retro fashion helps reduce the environmental impact by promoting sustainable clothing choices through thrift stores and upcycling.
Here are a few reasons why vintage style is a great choice:
Timeless Elegance: Classic styles never go out of fashion.
Sustainability: Vintage shopping promotes eco-friendly fashion choices.
Creativity: Retro fashion allows you to mix and match different eras and styles.
Unique Pieces: Vintage clothing gives you access to one-of-a-kind items that can’t be found in modern stores.
2. Popular Vintage Fashion Trends
Different decades have contributed various elements to vintage fashion. Here are some of the most iconic trends from the past:
1920s – The Roaring Twenties
The '20s are known for their glamorous and elegant styles, often seen in the flapper dresses and Art Deco-inspired accessories.
Flapper Dresses: Loose-fitting dresses with fringe or bead details.
Cloche Hats: Close-fitting hats that complement short hairstyles.
Pearl Accessories: Long strands of pearls or delicate pearl earrings.
Bobbed Hairstyles: Short, sleek haircuts that paired perfectly with the fashion of the time.
1950s – Classic Elegance
The '50s were all about sophistication and femininity, with silhouettes that emphasized the waist and full skirts.
Tea-Length Dresses: Dresses that hit mid-calf, often with a flared skirt.
Poodle Skirts: A-line skirts with playful designs or appliqué.
Cardigans and Sweaters: Soft, knitted tops worn over dresses or paired with skirts.
Red Lips: Bold lipstick was a signature feature of '50s beauty.
1960s – Mod and Youthful Fashion
The '60s introduced the mod look, which was all about bold, geometric patterns and daring styles.
Shift Dresses: Simple dresses with straight lines that skim the body.
Mini Skirts: The shorter, the better, for a youthful and energetic look.
Go-Go Boots: White or colorful knee-high boots with chunky heels.
Bold Prints: Geometric patterns, polka dots, and psychedelic prints were all the rage.
1970s – Bohemian and Funky
The '70s embraced a mix of bohemian chic, disco glam, and bold colors.
Bell-Bottoms: Flared pants that widen from the knee down.
Maxi Dresses: Long, flowing dresses perfect for the free-spirited look.
Tie-Dye: Vibrant, colorful patterns that bring an earthy, hippie vibe.
Platform Shoes: High-heeled shoes with a chunky sole.
1980s – Bold and Bright
The '80s were all about excess, with oversized silhouettes and bright colors.
Power Suits: Sharp suits with broad shoulders for a confident, bold look.
Neon Colors: Bright pink, green, and yellow made a statement in the '80s.
Leg Warmers: Worn over leggings or tights for a fun, casual look.
Graphic Tees: T-shirts featuring bold slogans or logo designs.
3. How to Incorporate Vintage Look Ideas into Your Wardrobe
If you're new to vintage fashion or just want to refresh your look with retro-inspired pieces, it's easier than you think to incorporate vintage items into your modern wardrobe. Here are some tips on how to pull off vintage looks without overdoing it:
Start with Accessories
One of the easiest ways to incorporate vintage looks into your everyday style is through accessories. Here are some ideas:
Vintage Scarves: A silk scarf tied around your neck or wrist adds an instant retro touch.
Hats: Whether it's a wide-brimmed sun hat or a cloche, hats can transform any outfit.
Vintage Jewelry: Look for bold statement pieces like chunky bracelets or pearl earrings.
Belts: A waist-cinching belt can give a modern outfit a vintage flair.
Mix Modern with Vintage
You don’t have to wear a full vintage outfit. Mixing vintage and contemporary pieces creates a balanced, fashionable look.
Pair a vintage blouse with skinny jeans or a modern skirt.
Wear a vintage jacket over a casual, plain dress.
Style an old-fashioned skirt with a trendy t-shirt or tank top.
Focus on Color and Patterns
One of the most iconic features of vintage fashion is the use of bold colors and prints. Incorporating these into your outfits will help evoke a retro look.
Polka Dots: This timeless print can add a fun, playful touch to any outfit.
Florals: From '70s maxi dresses to '50s tea-length dresses, floral prints are a vintage staple.
Stripes: Bold stripes were a major pattern in the '60s and '70s.
Tartan: Plaid patterns were popular in the '90s and continue to be a vintage-inspired trend.
4. Where to Find Vintage Clothing and Accessories
Shopping for vintage items has become easier thanks to online stores, thrift shops, and vintage boutiques. Here are some places to explore:
Thrift Stores: Local thrift stores often carry a wide range of vintage clothes at affordable prices.
Vintage Boutiques: These stores specialize in curated collections from specific decades.
Online Marketplaces: Websites like Etsy, eBay, and Depop are great for finding vintage clothing.
Flea Markets: Local flea markets are treasure troves for retro-inspired fashion finds.
5. Final Thoughts: Embrace the Vintage Look
Vintage fashion isn’t just a trend; it's a celebration of the past, offering timeless styles that continue to inspire modern designers. Whether you're drawn to the elegance of the '50s or the rebellious spirit of the '70s, vintage look ideas offer a fantastic way to express your individuality. By mixing vintage and contemporary pieces, you can easily incorporate retro-inspired fashion into your wardrobe.
Explore thrift stores, boutiques, or online marketplaces to discover unique pieces that tell a story, and have fun experimenting with vintage styles. Vintage fashion is not just about dressing up—it's about embracing a rich history of design and creativity.
