Can you PLEASE help try and understand why I find it so hard to tell if my collegue likes me? You know, that’s really tough.

It’s the ol’ Aries in love with the Scorpio.

I’m an Aries and I was once in love with a Scorpio. We slept around a bunch, but he never relationshipped me, which is what I wanted!

In the end, it was very traumatic.

In synastry, Aries make a Quincunx aspect with Scorpio. It’s when 2 planets are 150degrees apart.

I do think Quincunx is a very hot 🥵 aspect, but it seems like the signs can barely understand each other.

The only advice I can give you is to tell you about the mistakes I made in my situationship with a Scorpio, since I have never successfully dated one:

1. Don’t insult them. Aries can get this way sometimes. We are hot headed and impatient and we want what we want. And sometimes we do it just to flirt or seem funny. Insults roll off us, so why not them? It will not roll off them. They will hold onto it for eternity. That’s the Pluto in them.

2. Don’t sleep with them. Scorpios are s3xy individuals and they know this. But s3x isn’t what they’re after — they’re looking for a deeper connection. They want soul mate energy. S3x is nothing to them compared to MAKING LOVE! They want to bare their all to someone. They want to feel HELD and CHERISHED. They understand the difference of “just s3x” and they think it’s cheap, even though they indulge in it constantly (double standards). They want to be with someone that they can see themselves starting a family with, so they’re not looking for a loose woman. They test people.

3. Above all else: Be their friend first. You can’t force someone to love you, tragically. But you do have the control to be someone’s friend. Scorpios are terribly misunderstood and more than anything they want that friend they can talk to anything about. Be patient. Give them their space. Go on a nature walk with them. (Pretty sure they enjoy quiet areas with nature). Invite them to hang out and do peaceful things together (since they’re a water sign, they are very sensitive to energies and can’t be around too many ppl for too long). They like to pretend they’re tough, but they’re soft. Way more soft than an Aries can even admit to be.

4. Be vulnerable with them. This is a very challenging thing for an Aries to do — being vulnerable. We spend our whole lives pretending we are TOUGH AS NAILS AND NO ONE CAN HURT US. But we are the babies of the zodiac (the first sign) and we aren’t as tough as we like to think we are. If you have known this guy a long time and are dying to tell him how you feel — just do it! But be completely honest. No jokes to lighten the mood. No insults to seem more macho. Just be vulnerable. Put yourself out there, even if he might break and shatter your heart. Do it anyway. This is the only way to a Scorpios heart. They need to know if you’re just as soft as they are. That makes them feel safe.

Lets talk about moths...

So, a few weeks ago I decided to bring out my knits. Earlier this year, I had washed and then stored them in a plastic bin. When I removed the plastic bin from under my bed, I realized the bin had been opened slightly. This was not particularly alarming, as I have kids and a pug who love to roll around under the bed. As I brought out each hat to be inspected, I noticed a small hole in one of the hats. I dismissed it, it couldn't POSSIBLY be moths, I had never seen one in my home, and over the last 9 years of knitting, had never had such a problem. Then the same familiar hole kept appearing, AND one of the larva had the audacity to die in the pompom. Probably toooo gorged to get out ;)

I realized I had been attacked this year and never knew it! Most likely, some moth came in and loved the dark space under the bed. Even better, that dark space had wool items that were left in an OPEN container. A perfect place to lay moth eggs and raise a family.

I rushed to where I store the handknit sweaters, and thankfully found no moth damage. Next was the yarn stash, thankfully no damage was found there. I always store my “for sale” knits in sealed plastic bags, those were of course, very safe.

After I assessed the damage, I realized I had been VERY lucky. Only 4 items had holes. None of my realllly special knits were damaged, and I could sew the holes closed. I washed everything that had been in the bin, and inspected each item. I figured though I might be worth sharing my story to help others save and preserve their knits! I also shared this info with my family, as I knit frequently for them, and I have no control on how they store those items hehe.

Moth info:

Tineola bisselliella is the most common fiber eating moth. It loves to eat natural fibers, since it has the ability to digest keratin proteins that are found in wool and silks. It especially loves dirty fibers. Unlike other moths, it prefers areas that have low light and traffic.

Here are some tips to store your knits and keep them safe:

The best course of action is prevention.

*Look for adult moths in your home. They are small, but can be spotted. The adults don’t eat your knits, but the larva do. If you find adults, they could have laid eggs in your stash or knits. 

*Look for eggs in your items. They are small and white. They can be tough to spot. 

* Look for holes in your items OR frayed weak ends in your yarn. 

*Be careful when accepting yarns from other stashes. If you do, inspect and wash them. Freezing yarn will also kill the little invaders.

*Before storing your knits for the season, inspect them for any damages or pests beforehand. Wash and dry them. Store them in plastic bags that seal or in a bin that has a good tight fitting lid. Make sure that lid doesn't get disturbed and opened...personal note for myself haha.

*Store the items with something strong smelling. Lavender and cedar will deter moths. If using something natural like lavender or cedar, make sure the scent is strong, as over time, they will lose their potency. NOTE on traditional mothballs, some mothballs were created with a chemical called naphthalene and others were created with paradichlorobenzene. These substances are toxic and carcinogenic. They are poisonous to kids and pets!

*As tempting as it is, be careful when displaying yarn out in the open as decor. It can get dusty, and moths could find that appealing.

If you do find evidence of moths, don’t panic!

*Sort the yarn and knits to find what is damaged and what isn't. If the yarn or item is too far gone to be saved, toss it. 

*For stuff that is infested, give everything a good wash. Allfreeknitting.com has a vinegar solution to wash and soak your items in to kill moths: 

                                            -1 cup white vinegar                                             -3 cups lukewarm water 

You can also carefully heat the yarn to 150degrees or freeze it to kill moths.

 *Clean and dust the area to prevent more moths.

Remember moths can be sneaky! I never even saw one. Be vigilant knitters and crocheters! May your stashes and knits be safe! :)

WHAT I ATE 87

I liked to try something else last week, a green pasta. Really enjoyed it, my son as well so that’s a double plus :)

Ingredients:

a lot of basil | 1tsp salt | 1 part garlic | 100gr pine nuts | 100ml olive oil | 2 tbsp parmesan cheese | 2 tbsp Pecorino cheese | 350gr pasta | 200gr haricots verts | 250gr roseval potatoes | extra Parmesan cheese

Roast the pine nuts 10 minutes on 150degrees.

Make the pesto first. Add the basil leaves with the salt, garlic and pine nuts in a kitchen machine and maken into a paste. Add some olive oil and mix the grated Parmesan and Pecorino.

Cook the pasta al dente. Cook the haricots verts and the potatoes. Mix everything together with the pesto and some of the cooking liquid. Serve with extra Parmesan on top.

When we would go to bed, I would wear under wear and your tshirt. I knew I would getcold. You knew I would get cold. So as soon as we would crawl into bed, I would curl up on your 150degree chest.

I miss waking up in the middle of the night, feeling like an ice cube, and inching back into you. As soon as you would feel me, you would wrap your big, grizzly bear arms around me and you would envelope me in a warm cocoon of love.

Experiments - Casting and moulding.

First I created the original model out of gold foam as I liked the material’s reaction to heat. The foam was randomly stabbed and scrape on the surface before heat treating it with a heat gun.

I then vacuum formed the foam in PETG sheets as I find it easy to handle and captures enough details for the purpose of the experiment.

I had originally planned to cast with sugar using 2 different methods. The first method is shown in this video, which is similar to how sand casting. The second method is this, which is how sugar glass(prop glass) is made.

The first method failed as I wasn’t able to get the amount of water needed for the size of the mould correctly and crumbles upon touching. The second method did not go well either. It required the sugar to be heated at about 150degree. I was able to heat the sugar up to the temperature but the hot sugar melted through my mould and I have to remake the mould.

I then decided to use plaster as it does not require heating and it is cheaper than other materials.

I made 2 copies of the model. One is to serve as the “identical twin”. The other I sanded it smooth with sandpaper and the rotary tool. I then used the leftover sugar from the previous attempt and sprinkle it on top of the plaster and heated with the heat gun to create “artificial” bumps similar to the original. I wanted to make the artificial bumps to show a contrast between the model and yet make them almost similar. 

In a weird way, I guess it can be used as a commentary on how we as human put artificial stuff on ourselves to make us look more like the others.

INDN 241 For this project I do a mouse pad to solve some problem with people using computer longtime. I want to create three pieces different angles pad, but after testing, I give up this idea. Because the right part is not be used frequently. Then I kept two pieces pad, the flat one and left one. The left side could turning to 150degree. 150degree is a best angle to fix your wrist. So this is a 3D mouse pad,people can put mouse on different surfaces in different places. I also created a wrist protector part to joint main body
