A love elemental is a coagulation of love energy, condensed into a living form.  Raw unbridled love power is one of the most incredible forces in the universe, and without a person’s mind to control it and direct it into a healthy emotion, it can lash out at random.  Love elementals aren’t mindless, but they’re extremely single-minded in the way a typical elemental is - they want to spread their version of love, and if you resist, that makes you a threat.  Love is jealous, after all.

I’m always looking for a good excuse to have a high CR tiny creature, as well as excuses for good-aligned creatures to fight the players.  This creature would actually be really good at stopping a fight nonlethally by charming the entire party, but that’s kind of a lame tactic to use against players in my opinion.  I think it’s more interesting for the love elemental to use Charm Monster on NPCs, and make them fight for it.

Love elementals typically start combat by using their fascinate performance, which takes the form of shrieking “Loooooove!” at the top of their lungs in a high enough pitch to shatter glass.  This usually means that most of their enemies don’t get a turn on the first round of combat, although the effect is immediately broken as soon as the love elemental does anything else.  I suggest starting with Waves of Ecstasy on the next round.  If it’s alone, or its only allies are other love elementals, it should probably start attacking for at least a round after that before using any more spells.

It uses Lunge every round, even when casting spells, in order to take attacks of opportunity if needed.  This is already calculated into its AC for convenience.  When it attacks, it uses Combat Expertise.

The "Overwhelmed” condition applied by this creature is one that I use a lot.  In fact, as a house rule, I nearly always use it in place of stunned, paralyzed, and nauseated, whenever an enemy inflicts those conditions on PCs (also forcing them to drop their held items if the original effect would have stunned them).  I never replace those conditions with Overwhelmed when PCs inflict them on enemies, though.  The point of the rule is that not being able to play at all isn’t fun, so I’d rather give the PCs a choice of a trade-off, but I don’t care if the monsters don’t have fun.  They’re not real.  And as the GM, I’m always still playing.

You may wish to make it drop its wand when defeated, and make it be a magic wand or rod of your choice.

SPECIAL ABILITIES

Overwhelming Waves of Ecstasy (Sp) When a love elemental stuns a creature with its Waves of Ecstasy spell-like ability, that creature drops its held items and is overwhelmed instead of stunned, as described in the love elemental’s Overwhelming Ray ability.

Waves of Euphoria (Sp) As a full-round action, a love elemental can emit waves of euphoric tranquility in a 30-foot burst centered on itself.  Each creature in the area must succeed on a DC 22 will saving throw or enter a state of euphoria for 16 rounds.  An affected target treats all creatures as dear friends and abhors violence, but may rise up to protect itself if violence is perpetrated against it.  Until the end of the spell’s duration, the creature’s speed is halved, and it cannot make attacks or cast spells.

If a creature affected by Waves of Euphoria is attacked, it gets a Will saving throw.  If the saving throw succeeds, the creature can act normally for 1 round.  If the saving throw fails, the creature moves half its speed away from the attacker as its next action.

This is a mind-affecting emotion compulsion effect, and is considered a 6th-level enchantment spell.

Positivity (Ex) A love elemental is immune to non-harmless spells and effects with the emotion descriptor, but only if they utilize positive emotions.  If a spell or effect utilizes negative emotions, a love elemental instead suffers a -2 penalty on its saving throw.

Additionally, beneficial positive energy effective and harmful negative energy effects have 1.5x the normal effect on a love elemental.  This includes healing and damage as well as any numerical bonus or penalty applied by such an effect.

Anything to Please (Su) Once per day, the love elemental can compel a creature within 30 feet to attempt to please it as a standard action.  The creature receives a DC 24 Will save to negate this affect.  If the save fails, the creature attacks the love elemental's enemies for 1 round, gives the love elemental its most valuable item, or drops prone at the love elemental's feet and grovels for 1d4 rounds (target's choice).  The save DC is Charisma-based.  This is a mind-affecting emotion compulsion effect.

Bardic Performance (Su) A love elemental has the bardic performance class ability.  It can use bardic performance for 40 rounds per day, and has access to the following abilities: countersong, distraction, fascinate, and inspire courage (+4).

Overwhelming Ray (Su) As a standard action, a love elemental can fire a ray from its wand, which is a ranged touch attack with a range of 180 feet.  The target takes 1d8 points of damage and must succeed on a DC 24 Will save or drop its held items and be overwhelmed for 1d6 rounds.  A target that saves is instead dazzled for 1d6 rounds.  The save DC is Charisma-based.

An overwhelmed creature is staggered and cannot perform any action that requires concentration.  If an overwhelmed creature attacks or casts a spell, it falls prone and becomes helpless until the beginning of its next turn.

Unearthly Grace (Su) A love elemental adds its Charisma modifier as a racial bonus to its armor class, and CMD.  It can use its Charisma in place of its Strength on melee damage rolls (but not attack rolls).
