There’s a test for all the second-year classes tomorrow, so the five of them have planned a study session. Aragaki and Amada are already seated at the table on either side of one corner, each absorbed in their own work. Koromaru lounges on the floor next to Amada’s chair. 

It’s a bit of a surprise to see the two of them together like that, but a nice one. Clearly they must have hashed at least some things out. The tension that has strained between the two of them since Aragaki returned to the team in September isn’t entirely gone, but it has certainly slackened.

Fuuka had a short errand to run, and had said that they could get started without her, but– can they, really? They can’t just grab a head start like that and leave her to lag behind. There’s nothing to be done but postpone their studies until she returns; that’s the only courteous course of action.

Yukari, Junpei, and Aigis fill the time with conversation. Minato participates in the discussion in that he stands between Junpei and Yukari and tilts his head at appropriate intervals to show he’s listening. It’s not long before the topic drifts over to Ryoji, as it inevitably tends to these days.

Yukari and Junpei exchange a significant glance, then both look to Minato. He allows the eye contact, but very carefully does not return any of the significance. He feels like he can guess what they think the ‘real reason’ behind Aigis’ dislike must be, but… He would really rather not get into that.

Aragaki doesn’t even look up from his schoolwork.

Minato blinks. He has never said anything one way or the other to Aigis about Ryoji’s character. Although, he does suppose that hanging out with him the way Minato has been could reasonably count as a vote in favor of finding Ryoji trustworthy.

Junpei scratches the back of his head and grins in sheepish surrender. Aragaki turns away from Amada and sneezes into his elbow with suspiciously apropos timing. Aigis gives one brisk nod as though she’s filing this information away for the future while Yukari fixes the hem of her sweater to hide her smile. Minato catches Amada’s eye and makes the Feather Victory Salute– Amada sticks his tongue out at him briefly, but he returns the salute under the table.

Fuuka returns moments later, bringing their reprieve from the studying they had unanimously agreed upon to an end. It also brings the subject of Ryoji, Aigis’ distaste for him, and what might be the cause of it to a close for now, so Minato doesn’t despair too heavily.

A whole year since I started posting TTWHB!! Happy anniversary to this fic that consumes so many of my thoughts.

Thoughts and rambles under read more :) (spoiler-free!!!)

It's been a crazy journey so far, hasn't it?

I expected to be much further along the story by now, but since I spend so much of my time also working on Shuake pieces and dealing with real-life stuff, I try not to beat myself up for the slow progress, 90k words in a year is still progress! Also, I draw covers for every chapter, and my beta does an awesome job at editing this whole thing, so it's a little more polished (since I'm not a native English speaker). So yeah, everything adds up, and it takes a while to post new chapters.

Speaking of the covers, it's wild to see how much my style changes between them aha, and god I really hate some of the early ones, whether it's color or anatomy or the brushes I used... When I finish this fic I think I will go back and polish every cover...maybe by then I will make even better covers!

Anyway lets talk about the story for a moment, a lot of things inspired me to write this fic, mainly the idea 'what if there was a mod where you can have Ryoji in SEES and the story changed accordingly?' that's why the fic is structured by days and time of day-as if you are playing the game!

It's not always going to be as in depth about every day of the story-we are actually near the end of it being just one or two days per chapter, and soon things will start speeding up a little more, there was just a lot of Ryoji getting used to SEES that I had to cover.

What else can I say... Oh I suppose I can share something a bit insane, which is the fact for over a year, this whole fic has been planned on an excel, with every timeslot written out.

It looks like this, except it's like, much bigger. Great for keeping track of stuff! Orange squares are all Canon events that I'm finding a way to retell somehow! This took such a long time to create but I love it. Sometimes I still change up things a bit.

I also made this chart that I'm pretty sure has mistakes but it mostly works for what I need ! Feel free to use as a reference if you want :) The red is just a note of characters that switch to first name later.

Anyway, all of this to say, I've never been so passionate about making a story as I've been about this one. Even though I know there's not that many people who care about Ryomina, and even less who enjoy reading fics of them, and 90% of people follow me for Shuake instead- I still really want to see this story until the end, in some ways it's a story I've wanted to tell since I was 13 and playing P3FES for the first time, but it wouldn't exist without Reload and making me fall in love with P3 all over again.

Lastly, thank you to anyone who has ever encouraged me in the comments on AO3, this story is for me, but it's also for all of you, and even if you don't stay with me until the end, I appreciated having you on the ride even if just for a short moment.

Now I should disappear cause I tend to be shy about rambling this much online, but the anniversary had me a bit emotional aha-if anyone has any questions feel free to drop an ask too! Always open to answer to those :) Ty for reading

THE IMPOSSIBLE, POSSIBLE: The Persona 3 Manga in Chronological Order ... but should it be done ????

hi everyone ^_^)/ !!! it's vity here, and i am once again consuming media in the most confusing way possible, and showing how YOU can too !

shuji sogabe's persona 3 manga adaptation is kind of infamous for being near-useless at points for people who haven't already played the game at successfully getting across it's story due to it being told in non-chronological order. how much of this is his desire to give ryoji mochizuki as much screentime as possible (see my post, how hard was shuji sogabe really on that ryoji mochizuki grind?) and how much of it is artistic intent ? honestly, i'm still not really sure.

but what i am sure of is how much i've always been interested in the idea of - what if you did put the manga in chronological order? chapter by chapter, page by page? well, i've lost two days of my life. happy mochizuki monday!

as of right now, this is only a reading guide. this expects that you already have a way of reading the manga, and i believe any specific page numbers given are only 100% accurate to the physical release - but i wouldn't expect it to be off by much ! if anyone actually tries this, i would love to hear your thoughts on it! it's certainly an experience, at points. plus, i'm always happy to correct any errors! (thank you to @p3ta for some artistic debate to help me compile this as well as i could!)

Part 7

11/10 (Tue) - Reporter: Yukari Takeba

Wh, wh, wh... J, Junpei! What's with the smell of love?! Don't make such random accusations! I'll kick you away! Ah... It's Takeba... Ahahaha.

Ahem. Well, today, Kirijo-senpai finally came back. As expected, she seemed to be more worn out than I expected, and even though she had come home, I could hardly talk to her...

Also, I'm a bit worried about Sanada-senpai. He seemed really calm while Kirijo-senpai was away, so maybe he was pushing himself too hard. Seeing Kirijo-senpai trapped, Sanada-senpai also felt depressed, just like she was...

For now, we think the best we can do is to not cause trouble for our seniors. So, the second-year students of Gekkoukan Academy, Amada-kun representing the elementary school, and Koro-chan representing the animals will be doing their best to support the two of them.

11/11 (Wed) - Reporter: Fuuka Yamagishi

Good evening, this is Yamagishi.

Yukari-chan, you're overreacting... So it's obvious even if it's not Junpei-kun? But Junpei-kun, do I smell love too? Hmm, that's a no-go. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm connected to anyone like that yet.

Speaking of love, the transfer student Ryoji-kun is somehow interesting, isn't he? Oh, I'm not saying anything about him... but don't you like Aigis' reaction when she first met him? It was the first time I've seen such an intense reaction as "No way!"

He seems to be very popular with girls, but even without that, it's a little strange. Am I overthinking it?

...For now, I still haven't found the purpose of the battle, but there's no doubt that the number of people suffering from Apathy Syndrome due to the shadows' damage is increasing. In that case, we have no choice but to hunt shadows, even if it's only a symptomatic treatment.

It was really hard to find, the ornament from Kinkakuji that says "All-out attack." No, I never imagined something like this would be serious either.

I don't want anything with words like "love," "friendship," or "effort" written on it, so I wondered if there were any words that would make Amada happy. I want to be paid for my labor!

Oh, now that I think about work, I remembered. I have a hands-on study session starting the day after tomorrow... This school doesn't allow part-time job.

I've lived my life avoiding work to the point where I'm glad there's a school rule that prohibits part-time jobs, so why do I have to go through the trouble of doing it in class?

What's more, I wish they'd picked a job that looked at least a bit interesting, but from what I've heard from my seniors, it's either unloading, carrying, or shouldering luggage, which are all the same!

Kirijo-senpai, do you have any secret tricks to use the Kirijo group's powers to give everyone in the dorm the easy work?

For now, my hopes are that there will be 20 minute breaks every hour, I won't have to lift anything heavier than a rice bowl, and it would be nice if there were cute girls working with me, would that be okay?

It's Kirijo. Junpei Iori... Don't be so selfish, you idiot!

I thought someone had gone all the way to the head of the Kirijo family's household to talk about work and had returned tired, but to be greeted with such a pointless report is beyond anger; it makes me dumbfounded.

To begin with, the Kirijo Group has nothing to do with experiential learning. If you send students from the school Kirijo runs to Kirijo's company, they'll have an easy time, that's for sure. That would defeat the purpose of off-campus training!

Well... I guess it's not possible this year, but next year I might be able to get you into a company that's a good fit for you. I heard recently that the president of the mail-order company, Tanaka's Amazing Commodities, heard about our off-campus internship and asked me if I would like to have some students attend. That place is famous for its harsh working environment, with 24-hour full-time work. For people like you who have little motivation to work, they make you work even if you don't say anything. What do you think? They make you work really hard, so it's a good place to work, isn't it?

…Yeah, it feels like I'm really getting back to normal. I guess this is how I should be. Iori, your silly story seems to have cheered me up just now. Thank you. Well, I guess I'll rest before the Dark Hour today.

11/23 (Mon) - Reporter: Fuuka Yamagishi

Something sad... happened. It was during the Dark Hour last night...

Uh... uh...

Wait...

I guess I shouldn't push myself after all. Oh, it's nothing.

It looks like it's tough for Fuuka, so I'll start recording from here. Um... where should I start? Yes, it was yesterday's Dark Hour.

Fuuka caught Strega's presence before Tartarus, and it was that Chidori, Junpei's precious one.

Actually, she was supposed to be hospitalized, but I found out today... there was an attack on the hospital, and she went missing at the time. And then, that Chidori suddenly attacked Junpei... she was really in love with Junpei, but she didn't know what her feelings were, and she said it was her fault because Junpei was there... what an idiot, that girl. She was tempted by that perverted Strega guy! Y-Yes. After that, two men from Strega appeared and shot Junpei...

I'm sorry, but I don't remember that part very well. I'll leave out the details, but Junpei was close to death once. But that girl's Persona... I think she was called Medea. With the power of that Persona, she gave Junpei life... Medea's power is the exact opposite of Fuuka's Juno's; it's not the power to sense life, but the power to release one's own life. And so, even though she was weak from fighting us before, she gave all her remaining life to Junpei...

I'm sorry. I'm still confused and can't put it into words well. It's not something that can be said so easily, I want more...more...!

Yukari-chan...

I'm fine now. Let's take over. Right?

This is Yamagishi. I'll take over. Chidori-san has passed away. She gave her life, and Junpei-kun is safe. However, I allowed Takaya and Jin, the two who call themselves Strega, to escape.

As of today, Junpei-kun has gone somewhere and is gone. I'm very worried, but I don't think the worst will happen. Junpei knew very well that Chidori gave him his life. So, I think it will be okay.

Chidori's body has now been moved to Kirijo. They need to identify her... I wonder what they'll do about the funeral.

Anyway, we're waiting for Junpei to return. I'm sure he'll be fine.

11/24 (Tue) - Reporter: Akihiko Sanada

Today, the second-year students came home exhausted from their field trip. I didn't go to their rooms to check, but I think they were so tired that they fell asleep around 10 o'clock. Well, that's what happened. I'm sure they were grateful in a way for being so tired that they didn't have time to think about anything.

However, Junpei still hasn't come back to the dorms, and he hasn't participated in the field trip. I'm sure he'll come back, but... it's too heavy for one person to carry. It's several times heavier than the baggage you carry on a field trip. When I was there, there was Amada, who felt the same way. We shared it between the two of us, and somehow we managed to carry it all.

…Junpei, come back soon.

The only way to rise from sadness is to stand on your own two feet. But when you can't stand on your own, someone will hold your hand. The people in this dorm are all good-natured, so there will be plenty of arms outstretched to help you. You know that, don't you?

I'm sure she's waiting for that too.

11/25 (Wed) - Reporter: Mitsuru Kirijo

It's Kirijo. The second-year students are going on an experiential learning session today. Even to begin with, everyone is quiet.

Furthermore, the number of people has decreased, so the dormitory is so quiet it feels like no one is living there... Iori hasn't returned yet.

Akihiko says he's fine, but when I think of my mental state when I lost my father, I can't fully relax.

Well, I have no choice but to believe him... Regarding the girl named Chidori, I'd like to report what Kirijo's lab has learned. When the results of the tests from when she was hospitalized were revealed, it was a side effect of the suppressor, and even if this incident hadn't happened, she would have had about two years to live.

Nothing about her identity remains a mystery. It's doubtful whether her last name, or even the name Chidori, was real. If we could find out the true identity of the mastermind who turned the Strega into Persona Users, we could investigate, but there is no information on that either. For now, I have instructed them to continue the investigation.

That's all we know. The guys at the lab were interested in the artificial Persona Users, and some even insisted on an autopsy, but I stopped them from doing so. That's all for now.

11/26 (Thu) - Reporter: Aigis

The third day of the experience program has ended. Everyone except for me seems to be exhausted.

Junpei-san has still not returned. Where is he?

Chidori gave her life with a will that went beyond biological instinct. Junpei, who inherited her will, will inevitably return. I'm sure of it.

11/27 (Fri) - Reporter: Yukari Takeba

Well, this is Takeba. I've finally finished my hands-on learning. My arms are sore, my back is sore, my eyes are droopy, and I feel like I've aged all at once. I'm sure the others are feeling the same way. Oh, except for Aigis. She was working silently, saying she was good at this kind of thing.

And then...Junpei finally returned home.

Seriously, that idiot caused me so much worry...

Although he's safe, he looks more depressed and weak than I've ever seen him before... But I'll wait. The guy I know is the kind of guy who always bounces back even when he's down.

11/28 (Sat) - Reporter: Junpei Iori

…Hehe, it's Junpei. I'm so sorry for worrying everyone. Well, I just heard about the activities while I was away. I don't know, but I feel sorry, but I'm also grateful... I'm really touched, I guess. Well, I've finally come back, so I'll do a report on my activities to celebrate my return. It's a matter of settling things, a matter of settling things.

Oh, no, I'm not going senile, I just realized that I've never really made a proper report in the first place, hahahaha.

Wow, so this is to celebrate my return and my first report? That's pretty fancy, isn't it?

Anyway, there was only one thing that related to SEES today. I'll just give you a quick report.

Well, should I start by saying that Tatsumi Memorial Hospital... has delivered Chidori's belongings to Kirijo-senpai. Well, when I say belongings, it was just one sketchbook.

But I was a little surprised by the contents of that sketchbook...

The pictures of Chidori that I know are kind of unintelligible, like avant-garde art, surreal, rare...Real Madrid...no. They're just messy pictures like that.

But...the drawing on the last page was an amazingly good one, I was amazed that she could draw something like that...

...Well, to be honest, it was a really handsome portrait of Iori Junpei-sama!

Good evening, this is Yamagishi.

I'm glad you're feeling better, Junpei...and once again...welcome back.

It feels like it's been a while since we've been able to report on our activities in a normal atmosphere. However, it seems like everyone is still tired from all the hard work that's been going on, so there's nothing special to do today...

Ah, there was! That's right, something special.

Someone other than SEES showed up as a guest at the Iwatodai dormitory.

That person was actually the much talked about transfer student from Class F, Ryoji Mochizuki. Apparently, he became friends with Junpei on the school trip, and they were chatting for quite a long time in the room. Ah, but apparently I just didn't notice, and he'd already been here before, although I'm not sure if it was before or after the field trip.

It's kind of an unexpected combination, isn't it? Ryoji is fashionable, flawless and popular, and Junpei is, um, a bit of a different type. I wonder what they had in common?

11/30 (Mon) - Reporter: Ken Amada

Tonight, the atmosphere was a little different than usual. Well, I know the reason why. Everyone except for me, Aigis, and Koromaru has been holed up in their rooms studying all day. ...And Junpei too!

When I asked Aigis, she said that the final exams are coming up in two weeks, so I think they're studying for those exams. But with a normal exam, Yukari would start to push herself about a week or two before, and then Sanada would start nagging Junpei, who never seems to start studying, and then Mitsuru would motivate everyone. But this time it's different...

I guess it's just a result of you all growing up through a lot of things, right?

Still, it's surprising that Junpei is starting to study at this time of year... And what's more, I've been watching him for over an hour and he hasn't even come out to the break room... People can change all they want. Good luck to everyone.

12/1 (Tue) - Reporter: Akihiko Sanada

It seems like all the members are studying hard on their own for this final term. As a mother-in-law, I feel like there isn't enough for them to do.

…Just kidding.

But Junpei really started studying on his own. I'm not joking, it looks like it's going to rain or snow here. Well, do your best.

…Actually, there's something that's been bothering me today. What on earth happened to Aigis? Has she always shown such a sad expression? Maybe you should be a little more careful and considerate of her. I know this sounds strange, but she just seemed like a normal scared girl. Is she okay...?

Hello! I’ve been binge reading Throw Away Your Mask and now that I’m caught up, I’d love to know more about your thought process on how you set up Akechi’s social links if you’re cool with discussing it! Specifically I’m kind of curious about how you chose which characters to have him bond with / how you determined which arcana to use (especially for characters with a different arcana compared to their bond with the protagonist of their respective game).

Ooooo good question! So I did some planning before I actually started writing the fic. There were some characters I Knew right away I wanted Goro to have social links with (like Ken, Shinjiro, and Kanji). Some social links were fill-ins for arcana I was still missing. I also really wanted to write an original character (in the same vein as marigolds), especially since I did want a child classmate character who really displayed childishness in a way that Goro and Ken were never gonna bring to the table. I wrote a list of the major arcana in my notes and then matched the names up like this (i copied and pasted this straight from my notes):

I decided who was matched with which arcana based off of the arcana definitions in the persona wiki. The arcana pages in the persona wiki also gives common themes between social links within that arcana, so that impacted my decision too. Sometimes, i looked up the definition of an arcana outside of the wiki tho. My sister also came up with some of the matches when I had some blank spots (like Shido being Tower and Dojima being Chariot). I didn't want all of the characters to have the same arcana as they do in canon because I thought that was less fun than mixing it up. Obviously some arcana were too good to not keep, such as Ken being Justice. Another issue that came up is that I would use the canon arcana for one character (Ken), but then I obviously couldn't use it on Nanako too. When choosing arcana I also didn't really care about the 'gender roles' of each arcana. I honestly had a lot of fun giving Akira priestess (because the arcana meaning really fit the way I was characterizing him in this fic) and Ryoji Lovers (because Lovers always goes to a girl but it represents crossroads and Ryoji is a pretty big crossroads).

For a lot of the social links (not all lol), I also planned out each rank up. I tended to change certain details while writing, so this is what it kinda looked like:

Rank 3: Wednesday 13 May: After Akechi joins SEES, he meets up with Shinji. He asks why Shinji isn’t in SEES and Shinji says nothing. akechi is frustrated by this but drops it. RANK UP Rank 4: Wednesday September 2: Shinji joins SEES and Akechi’s like dude finally and Shinji says something about his past beginning to catch up with him and Akechi’s like what the hell bro. Rank 5: Sunday September 6: Shinji offers to teach Akechi how to cook. Akechi can always appreciate good life skills and accepts his offer. They make a tradition out of it.

Finally, I decided which characters to give social links just based off of who I think would have the most interesting character dynamics with Akechi/who would bring something new to the table. Also some characters' plots would make Akechi feel bigger feelings than others. But like part of the reason Shinji gets a social link and Akihiko doesn't is because Akihiko is kinda attached to Shinjiro's social link with Goro (think sorta daisuke and kou in persona 4). Naoto got a social link because *Detective Prince* TM, that sort of thing. Obviously other characters who didn't get social links also had a lot of potential, but I was already stretching my limit by including aeon and jester (jester was originally not going to be used but then takaya became a social link by hijacking the plot so i had to give up adachi's hermit status to takaya, which worked much better anyway).

So yeah. I put a lot of thought into it.

P3R Opening Aikoto Thoughts

I finished working so I can finally sink my teeth into this Aigis sequence!

This post will contain spoilers about Persona 3, The Answer and Arena, so it'd probably be a good idea to skip it if you haven't played them yet!

So, first things first:

Aigis' sequence begins with her falling to her knees, looking pretty roughened up. The Moonlight Bridge being the background tells us all we need to know about the setting: this takes place during her battle with Death/Ryoji. As if to make it even more obvious, her sequence directly follows Ryoji's (which, let it be known, is hands-down the best shot in the opening).

Now, the question is... which fight are we witnessing, exactly? As we know, Aigis fights him twice. She fights him as Death 10 years ago, and then as Ryoji during the course of the game.

I think the opening sequence is meant to be the first fight: the one against Death, because we see Aigis falling asleep at the end of it. But I'll get back to that later. For now, assuming that it's that first fight helps contextualize the shots that follow:

Aigis is surrounded by the 13 arcana while the Fool lies right in front of her. The 13 arcana are, of course, the 12 shadows that Death was split into and Death itself.

And this is when the Aikoto comes in, because I believe this sequence is meant to serve two purposes at once: Symbolism and foreshadowing.

On one hand, they symbolize Aigis' meeting with Makoto in the Moonlight Bridge 13 years ago. The Fool represents him, both as the child that she had to seal Death into and as the boy that she swore to protect.

On the other hand, I feel that the fact that they chose to set the scene this way also serves as a nod to The Answer. After all, if this were simply meant to symbolize Aigis sealing Death into Makoto, then Death should've been right in the middle alongside him. Instead it's just The Fool, because the Moonlight Bridge is the place where both — Makoto's and Aigis' journeys began.

And Aigis journey began with Makoto and ended with her becoming the Fool and carrying his legacy.

Coincidentally, these seem to be the lyrics during the portion Aigis is on screen (credit to the Wiki):

No matter how far (No matter how far) How you go (How you go, how you go) How long you may last (F* tears, no time to waste) It's your life, burn your dread

This is not the first time Atlus references The Answer in an Opening. Burn my Dread foreshadows The Answer, and even Our Moment features a reference to it.

As such, it doesn't mean that we will see a The Answer re-release. All it means is that Atlus acknowledges its existence and, above all, the journey that Aigis goes through during it.

Now, back to Makoto! If you look closely at Aigis' expression, you will see that she looks sad, guilty even, as she looks down at the card representing him.

We also see this shot lingering and Aigis' pupil contracting right before she closes her eyes, which to me represents the fact that Makoto — and what she had to do to him — were likely the last thing she thought about before she fell into her deep slumber.

Coincidentally, the only ones that are within Aigis' eye — and thus, her focus — are herself and the Fool.

This, in turn, ties in not only with P3, where Aigis wakes up from her slumber when Makoto arrives to Yakushima:

It also ties in with The Answer:

And even with Arena. After all, thanks to Arena, we have an idea of what it is that Aigis thought about as she fell into her deep slumber. Or rather, what she wished for:

Aigis' sequence in the opening (the longest one after Makoto, if I'm not mistaken), ends with her falling asleep, her Papillon Heart shining brightly in the dark.

And of course, once she finally opens her eyes 10 years later, we get...

Track #16: Mission Complete Ending Suite

For this penultimate track of Disc 1, Sam Dillard, making his second appearance in Harmony of Hunter, breaks the mold of single-song remixes with this massive medley of all four (at the time) 2D Metroid games: Metroid, Metroid II: Return of Samus, Super Metroid, and Metroid Fusion. Sam brings his signature orchestral style to this remix. There's a lot to dig into here, so I'll cover each end theme separately.

The original game's credit theme (also re-arranged for Zero Mission) opens on a drone, representing the darkness of the rest of the game, before spilling forth into a bright, reassuring 8-bit march to celebrate the player's victory. For this medley, Dillard borrows the first two sections of the song, turning the droning into blaring horns accompanied by tense strings before playing the "Silence" notes from the credits of Super on piano to transition into gentle B section, played on violin. The song jumps down a key and plays the slow arpeggio from the C section before playing the B section over again, and finally jumping back to the original key to reiterate the B section again. The orchestra echoes the opening section's melody to take us into the next movement.

Metroid II's ending is a very pleasant and energetic piece, more so than any other ending in the series. The medley plays the series title theme before taking this credits theme on with strings. The arrangement of this end theme takes fewer liberties with the composition, staying truer to the melody while playing around with the instrumentation. The low strings play a sprightly bass motif in the background while the horns take us through the medley, before transitioning to a softer B section. The ending ends on a higher note in a warmer key than the original. This is the most complete end theme in the medley.

Super Metroid's ending is a gentle extrapolation of the dark and brooding opening theme. This section of the medley for the most part cuts the darker sections taken from the opening but echoes them by introducing this portion of the medley with the mysterious Sandy Maridia theme from the same game. This one is also quite faithful, though it truncates the B section and puts the final section into a new key...

...in order to make a surprise jump directly into Fusion's end theme. Fusion's end theme is a very mellow, contemplative theme for the credits of the most introspective game. This remix starts out strong, bringing in a horn fanfare to match the tone of the other endings, but quickly fades into a gentler arrangement of the B section before giving way to an ominous rendition of Samus's appearance fanfare.

Finally, the medley returns to where the "Theme of Samus Aran, Space Warrior" theme didn't quite make it, playing Samus's theme on the low strings accompanied by the classic soulful female vocals before ending not on the final fanfare, but on the fanfare that opens the theme.

I like this one pretty good. Thank you forever Sam Dillard.

It’s not unusual for one of Minato’s friends to stop and chat with him at the school gate before class starts, but he can’t say he was expecting Aragaki of all people to flag him down.

Ryoji joins them, radiating his bountiful morning-person cheer. Aragaki looks annoyed at being interrupted.

Aragaki’s expression barely changes, but his thoughts on the matter couldn’t be clearer: he absolutely will not be doing that.

At least, it couldn’t be clearer to Minato. Ryoji doesn’t seem to pick up on it. There are a lot of little cues that Ryoji doesn’t pick up on, actually. Maybe it’s because he isn’t from here– or maybe that’s part of it, at least.

It reminds him a lot of himself, in some ways; the biggest difference being that Ryoji doesn’t seem to realize it, where Minato has always been painfully aware of every single time he misses his cue.

Aragaki’s expression becomes, somehow, even flatter.

A beat of silence, then Aragaki pivots on his heel and strides away without a word.

Ryoji blinks at Minato with huge, confused eyes. The look on his face is so thoroughly baffled that Minato can’t help but do something that astonishes them both:

He laughs.

Ace: Ryoji. What, uh. What brings you to our rooftop?

Ace: You know, your Social Link with me is the Hanged Man Arcana?

Ryoji: H-huh?

Ace: You were pretty insistent that you're Death, but even the Death Arcana isn't the end. It's change. A new start. Tarot has 22 Arcana, not 13.

Ryoji: What... What do you mean?

Ace: Hoo boy. I'm not really one for speeches, usually, but. Okay. I'll give it a shot, though it really just boils down to, well. I've fought, and won, against a lot of deities at this point. All of them had a pretty fundamental misunderstanding about the nature of humanity, and I'm willing to bet Nyx does, too.

Ryoji: And - in your opinion, what is the nature of humanity?

Strange... despite not appearing in Portable, Aigis' "The stone area outside is filled with water…" is stll in the files!

Due to them using ps2's structure, this means the added lines don't work. You can see that line is number 13? The next two lines work, but the one after is Junpei's, despite Portable having a few others between. It also skips Ryoji's "Really?" for that same reson. This continues until Fuuka's "We'll see you later, then." since the next few lines are different in Portable.

Jumpscare... These ones are actually in the right place, except there's another line in between that's not there. But, you can see that the file name is different than the english ones, but I'm not sure if it's the same in the japanese version since I have to rip those with a different program and it doesn't get the file names... In the regular ones, the first numbers are what number it is over all, the next the event file it's for, the next is what character, the next the number of lines that specific character has said. So... they're probably named the same in japanese?

Seems like this is a bit of a sadder version of the exchange that happens if you romance Ryoji, especially since it's right before it.

Ryoji's "*chuckle* I'm looking forward to seeing the rooms, {F1 82}-chan." I cut out is way earlier at 51, though...

And, finally, to come full circle...

The "……?" that should have been there is instead at the very end.
