AMG GT R Coupé „The Beast of the Green Hell“.
Back in the days the visual update for the AMG GT coupé and roadster includes new front and tail lamps as well as a new design idiom for the tailpipe trims. The new light controls of the LED High Performance headlights now display parallels with the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé and therefore further strengthen the AMG GT family connection with the two-door models. A tri-functional, arched light guide takes on the functions of daytime running light, navigation light and turn signals.
The light of the LED tail lights also appears even deeper set and sportier through the dark background.
From the back the new look of the rear apron is striking, its sporty black diffuser insert was redesigned for the AMG GT, AMG GT S and AMG GT C. The twin tailpipe trims are now adapted to the lines of the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé ‑ round on the AMG GT and trapezoidal on the AMG GT S and AMG GT C. The rear design of the AMG GT R keeps its distinctive shape.
The AMG GT and AMG GT S are getting a new black grained sill cover on the bottom section. This makes for an extra-dynamic look. In conjunction with optional exterior packages, trim elements add individual highlights in high-gloss black, matt black, high-gloss chrome or carbon fibre.
Also, on request, the AMG GT and AMG GT S are available with a new y-spoke light-alloy wheel in matt black with a high-sheen finish. In addition, as an option for the AMG GT, AMG GT S and AMG GT C new 10-twin-spoke forged wheels in titanium grey with high-sheen finishes or in matt black with a high-sheen rim flange are available.

I think we also ought to head one objection off at the pass here: that it is unfair to hold a TV show to the standards we might a film in terms of things like sets, extras and costumes. The thing is, Rings of Power apparently had a $462 million budget to produce eight one-hour episodes;1 by way of comparison Peter Jackson’s films had a combined budget of $281 million (inflation adjusted c. $470m) to produce 9.3 hours of film (theatrical edition; extended cut is 11.4). In short the series and the films had remarkably similar budgets to cover remarkably similar amounts of screentime. I confess I find myself confused, given the comparison, as to where all of that Rings money went; the show evidently was lavishly produced but it doesn’t generally feel lavishly produced.
I am once again asking for a forensic accountant

Giant Green Pill-Millipede: when these enormous millipedes roll themselves up completely, they can be as big as a baseball, a tennis ball, or a small orange
This species (Zoosphaerium neptunus) is commonly known as a giant green pill-millipede. The females can measure up to 90mm long (roughly 3.5 inches), making this the largest species of pill-millipede in the world.
There is a significant degree of sexual dimorphism in this species, with the males measuring only about 45mm (1.8 inches) long -- roughly half the size of the females.
Giant green pill-millipedes are found only in Madagascar, which is home to several endemic species of giant pill-millipedes (order Sphaerotheriida). The Malagasy name for giant pill-millipedes is "Tainkintana," which means "shooting-star."
Pill-millipedes use conglobation as a defense mechanism, which means that they can curl their bodies up into a sphere-like shape so that their dorsal plates form a protective shield around the softer, more vulnerable parts of their bodies, much like an actual pill-bug or a "roly-poly."
When they roll themselves up completely, they look almost like gently polished chunks of malachite, emerald, or jade.
Giant green pill-millipedes will sometimes form large swarms that travel together as a group. This is the only species of giant pill-millipede that engages in any sort of swarming behavior, and the purpose of that behavior is still unclear. The swarms often contain thousands of individuals, with almost all of them moving in the same direction, even when there is no physical contact between them to help "herd" them along.
Their swarming behavior also has some very peculiar features, as this article explains:
During swarming, Zoosphaerium neptunus individuals pay little attention to their surroundings; many specimens were observed walking straight into and drowning in small puddles. Some swarms even display ‘cliché lemming behaviour:' in Marojejy, a large part of a swarm walked into and drowned in a small river.
No single specimen was observed walking ‘against the current,' all specimens were moving in the same direction (southeast), even when not in contact with one another.
Of 273 randomly collected individuals, 105 were males, while 168 were females. The males were 8.3 - 14.1 mm wide (average width 10.4 mm). According to the inner horns of the posterior telopods, all males were sexually mature. The females were 9.95 - 15.4 mm wide (average width 11.4 mm). All females displayed non sclerotized vulvae and were sexually immature.
Some researchers argue that the swarming serves as a defense mechanism, providing a layer of protection (or at least some cryptic cover) against local predators, but the swarming behavior is still poorly understood.
Important Note: I just want to remind everyone that these animals belong in their own natural habitat -- they should not be trapped, bought/sold, traded, shipped, collected, or kept as pets. This particular species does not survive well in captivity, either, and the demand for these "exotic" invertebrates is putting the wild populations in jeopardy. The previous article discusses those issues, too:
Another possible threat for Z. neptunus swarms are collections for the pet trade. There exists a large demand in Japan, Europe and North America for 'green -eyed monsters’ as pets. Giant pill -millipedes from Madagascar unfortunately have a very short survival time in terraria. The species is specialized on low-energy food (dead leaves), and adapted to the cool climates (<20°C) of the highlands. Specimens in terraria often starve to death quickly.
So I know that they're adorable and really, really fascinating...but let's just let them be their chunky, adorable little selves out in the wild where they belong.

First off all: they weighed gunner again and he’s either 11 pounds 4 ounces OR 11.4 pounds idk with Americans and their measuring systems but regardless that’s a big boy!!!!
How was this birth compared to the rest?
It was her favorite (“so far”). The first day was long, the second day was quick!
Do you like hospital births? (Given that birth #1 was supposed to be a home birth)
She loves it! Knowing there are professionals there and having an epidural (she made this 👌🏻 sign about it lmao)
Breastfeeding or formula feeding?
Joy is breastfeeding, even though she had planned to bottle feed (idk if she meant pumping and giving it in a bottle or formula in a bottle) since she hated breastfeeding Gideon and “didn’t love” breastfeeding evy. But she “and Austin” (which…. Wtf) decided to try for a couple weeks and it’s actually going really well!
Which labor was the hardest to recover from?
Gideon, the c section baby, followed by evy because she had to push for so long.
How is life with 3 kids?
Busy! They have a good support system but joy often feels like she never sees Austin, has downtime etc
How did Gideon’s c section affect the plans for the quiver?
They purposely didn’t try to get pregnant for a whole year after Gideon, at their doctors suggestion! (I’ve assumed they’ve been using some kind of family planning but it’s wild to see her outright admit it!)
How are you?
She struggled with ppd after Gideon, Annabel and evy (proud of her to openly talk about it!!), which was probably made worse by poor diet/sleep deprivation/not taking vitamins etc. this time she being more proactive (good for her!!) and right now she’s doing well.
Sleep training?
Nope, tried with Gideon but it didn’t work. Now she just takes it as it comes.
Finding time for god?
She hasn’t been making her Bible study a priority “like [she] should”, but she’s having Bible reading with the kids every day. She often sets high goals and when she doesn’t have the time she does none of it instead.
Postpartum vitamins?
B, c, iron, thyroid meds, she’s on a bunch more.
Favorite snacks?
Beef sticks, cheese sticks. Carnivore diet babey I guess
Losing baby weight?
She has a hard time loosing weight, but she’s just focusing on eating healthy. Lots of protein (hence the beef sticks I suppose!)
The big question! How many kids do y’all want?
Joy and Austin has said 4 or 5 (!!!!!!) but they’re not sure. Joy doesn’t feel “done” yet, and she loves the baby phase.

MWW Artwork of the Day (2/22/23) Jean Fouquet (French, c. 1420-c. 1480) Simon de Varie Kneeling in Prayer (1455) Tempera, gold paint, gold leaf & ink on parchment, 11.4 x 8.3 cm. The J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles
As part of the multi-page frontispiece to his personal prayer book, the patron, Simon de Varie, kneels in prayer to the Virgin. She appears in the miniature on the facing page, enthroned with the baby Jesus. Although not a soldier, Varie wears armor and a surcoat decorated with the fleur-de-lis. Behind him a female attendant supports a shield crowned with his family emblems, while similar coats of arms, now partially overpainted, and Varie's personal mottoes decorate the border. These signs of his new noble status are clearly significant to Varie, who rose from the merchant class through his work as an official in the French royal treasury. Although the artist Jean Fouquet presented Simon and the Virgin in separate miniatures, he linked the interior spaces of the two illuminations.

Melchior de la Mars - The circumcision of the infant Christ - 1621
oil on canvas, height: 350 cm (11.4 ft); width: 265 cm (104.3 in)
signed and dated bottom centre: : Melchior De la Mars 1621
Augustine Monastery Ghent, Belgium
Melchior de la Mars (c. 1585 – 1650) was a Flemish Baroque painter active in Ghent. Only recently rediscovered, the artist is considered an early representative of the so-called Ghent Caravaggisti.
Only two known signed works by the artist are known. It is on the basis of these works that a number of works formerly attributed to Northern and Italian Caravaggisti have been assigned to de la Mars.
Little is known about the life and training of the artist. His activity in Ghent is recorded in 1621, when he signed and dated the Circumcision of the infant Christ made for the altar of the church of Augustine Church (now Saint Stephanus Church) in Ghent. A year later he signed the Maria Magdalen in ecstasy (Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium).

RECIPE: Fried Turkey (from Gullah Geechee Home Cooking by Emily Meggett)
Nothing gets me excited around thanksgiving quite like my fried turkey. The size of the turkey is up to you, but it is what you do with just four ingredients that matters. A turkey fryer is essential for this dish, and you want to make sure you pay attention to the oil temperature. This dish takes a little work and a little patience, but once you make it, you will never want to eat a baked turkey again!
Serves 8-10
1 (16-pound/7.3 kg) whole turkey
Seasoning salt, preferably Gold Medal
Nature’s Seasons, to taste
3 gallons (11.4 L) peanut oil
Wash the turkey thoroughly, cleaning out the cavity, and pat dry with paper towels.
Rub the outside of the turkey with seasoning salt and Nature’s Seasons.
Place the turkey in a baking dish. Cover with aluminum foil and place in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours, allowing it to absorb the flavors.
When ready to fry, go outdoors—for safety—and prepare the turkey fryer with the peanut oil according to the directions. Be sure to use a stable surface to prepare the fryer.
Heat the oil to 400F (204°C). The oil should be tested for correct temperature so the turkey will not absorb the oil.
With great care, place the turkey on the rack and lower it into the oil.
Fry the turkey at 400°F (204°C) for 1 hour, or until golden brown, adjusting the heat as needed. Carefully lift it from the oil, transfer to a carving board, and serve.
A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER NAMED A BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR BY NPR
This is the first major Gullah Geechee cookbook: Emily Meggett, the matriarch of Edisto Island, shares the recipes and the history of an essential American community
The history of the Gullah and Geechee people stretches back centuries, when enslaved members of this community were historically isolated from the rest of the South because of their location on the Sea Islands of coastal South Carolina and Georgia. Today, this Lowcountry community represents the most direct living link to the traditional culture, language, and foodways of their West African ancestors.
Gullah Geechee Home Cooking, written by Emily Meggett, the matriarch of Edisto Island, is the preeminent Gullah cookbook. At 89 years old, and with more than 50 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Meggett is a respected elder in the Gullah community of South Carolina. She has lived on the island all her life, and even at her age, still cooks for hundreds of people out of her hallowed home kitchen. Her house is a place of pilgrimage for anyone with an interest in Gullah Geechee food. Meggett’s Gullah food is rich and flavorful, though it is also often lighter and more seasonal than other types of Southern cooking. Heirloom rice, fresh-caught seafood, local game, and vegetables are key to her recipes for regional delicacies like fried oysters, collard greens, and stone-ground grits. This cookbook includes not only delicious and accessible recipes, but also snippets of the Meggett family history on Edisto Island, which stretches back into the 19th century. Rich in both flavor and history, Meggett’s Gullah Geechee Home Cooking is a testament to the syncretism of West African and American cultures that makes her home of Edisto Island so unique.
