BALITANG LOKAL: New Local Radio Station 'Radyo Sincero' launched in Dumaguete City [#OneNETnewsEXCLUSIVE]
Tumblr media
DUMAGUETE, NEGROS ORIENTAL -- A brand-new local radio station hit the Negrosanon airwaves in late-August this year as 95.9 'Radyo Sincero' launched right here in the City of Gentle People, popularly known as Dumaguete. It is situated on the 2nd floor of an unknown building, across Sunbets Building in 'Brgy. Tinago, Baybay, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental', and on the right is next door to former FM radio translator of 105.7 DYSQ-FM's Radyo Bisdak: Siquijor, just only few meters before the highway of Rizal Boulevard.
News reaching that the Negrosanons is now all abuzz with excitement as it readies itself to go on the air, promising to bring out a fresh mix of news and music to this airwaves.
Speaking exclusively to OneNETnews, a male Assistant Station Controller was barely able to contain the excitement over the first day of Radyo Sincero. He revealed that 'Radyo Sincero' will broadcast the popular syndicated radio programme 'Sincerely, Ate Arlyn' of 'Herbz Med Pharma', to be heard across all regions in the Visayas and Mindanao.
The nameless Assistant Station Controller said Radyo Sincero operates the best music on free radio, besides informative and relevant reports to the Filipino people. The station will cover the latest local news in Dumaguete City and regional updates from Negros Oriental and plans to expand the coverage to Cebu, Bohol and Siquijor in the Central Visayas region.
The identity of the station manager of Radyo Sincero in Dumaguete City remains undisclosed at this time. In addition, whether or not the station is owned -- if it's affiliated or commercially independent remains undetermined. Speculations towards its provisional authority or possible disapproval by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) of a regional radio franchise are reportedly under its official ambit while waiting for the clearance of Philippine president 'Ferdinand Romualdez (Bongbong) Marcos Jr.' [BBM].
Things have turned skeptical as yet, though, there has been no confirmation on the test broadcast or official launch date for Radyo Sincero in Dumaguete City would be held. But the latter's Facebook pages (a social media company of Meta Platforms Inc. [MPi]), have revealing all the frequencies of Radyo Sincero provincial stations in Mindanao and the Visayas, with their likes of 101.9 in Butuan, Agusan del Norte; 88.7 in General Santos, South Cotabato; 102.9 in Koronadal, South Cotabato; 100.7 in Kidapawan, Cotabato; 94.3 in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay; and 93.1 in Zamboanga City. In the Visayas, frequencies include 106.1 in Canla-on, Negros Oriental (replacing 'Radyo Bisdak: Canla-on' under Bisdak Media Group), and now, 95.9 in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.
Looking ahead, Radyo Sincero plans to tackle the hottest issues in their commentaries from the male radio anchor hosts in the coming weeks, while continuing to provide top-notch music throughout the day and night.

Will ESPN’s Purchase of WCBS-880 Impact Fordham’s Michael Kay?
Recently it was announced that long-time all-news radio station WCBS 880-AM will become ESPN 880-AM in the New York Tri-State area. How does this impact the potential success for Fordham University graduate Michael Kay (FCRH-Class of 1982)?
Tumblr media
Afternoons saw The Michael Kay Show finish 12th for the 4th quarter of 2023 with a 3.6 during the hours of 3:00 pm-6:30 pm. The show produced the same share and ranking as it did during the prior summer.
WFAN ended the year the way it started: on top in the ratings. New York’s leading sports station enjoyed wins across all dayparts as well as year-over-year growth in multiple dayparts according to the latest Nielsen Audio numbers (formerly Arbitron).
“The Fan” also grabbed a 3rd place finish in afternoons thanks to Evan Roberts and Tiki Barber. Evan & Tiki captured a 6.8 share with Men 25-54 for the quarter, up six tenths from the summer book. “Over at 98.7-FM ESPN’s New York station, the 4th quarter 2023 produced mixed results.”
Tumblr media
High Island, an uninhabited Island in The Bronx (formerly Shark Island-much cooler name) is the location for 880-AM’s transmitter.
Tumblr media
WFUV’s transmitter resides atop Montefiore Medical Center in The Bronx.  28 stories up.
Are Two Heads Better Than One? WFAN Seems To Think So.
On October 7, 1988, at 5:30 pm, WFAN changed frequencies, to replace WNBC at 660 kHz. It had previously broadcast over 1050-AM.
WFAN began to split between AM and FM on November 1, 2012, with the purchase of WRXP (101.9 FM) from Merlin Media for $75 million. It changed its call sign to WFAN-FM. Thus offering listeners their choice on either 660 AM or 101.9 FM.
880-AM is a 50,000 watt “Clear-Channel” radio station.
The 1941 North American Radio Broadcasting Agreement (NARBA) set-up 37 Class I-A frequencies. Nearly all U.S. and Canadian I-As operate at 50,000 watts non-directional. Which can be affected more by atmospheric conditions, mountainous terrain, coastal refraction, and electrical storms.880 WCBS New York I-A
What Does The Addition Of This AM Radio Signal Potentially Mean?
The difference between AM and FM radio signals affects sound quality, performance and broadcast range. FM broadcasting offers higher fidelity with more accurate reproduction of the original program. But AM signals can be heard from further away. (See Addendum below for more information.)
What Constitutes The New York Tri-State Radio Market?
The New York radio market includes: Middlesex-Somerset-Union Monmouth County, NJ Morristown Nassau-Suffolk (Long Island) Fairfield SN-Split County, CT Putnam, Rockland and Westchester Counties, NY.
Tumblr media
I live in the Hudson Valley. I can't pick up Kay’s FM radio station very well. Before you ask, nighttime doesn’t help an FM signal carry further.
How Can This Change The Dynamic?
Most AM content are All-News formats, call-in shows and sports. It has long been suggested that All-News does well in NYC because they give midtown traffic updates every 10 minutes. Now ESPN has an AM station in New York. As mentioned above, they have a powerful one.
However, ESPN dropped FM station 98.7 since the 880-AM acquisition. It is now a Top 40 station. Are they forgetting synergy on ESPN? “Kay was disappointed by the news, but radio is in transition.” said Bobby Ciafardini, WFUV Sports Director. “(With) more videos and podcasts and cameras in the studios.”
NEW YORK IS A BASEBALL TOWN
For the past century, New York has been a baseball town. The Fan has been connected with Yankee games on 660-AM for a long time. Will this acquisition, ESPN and by extension, The Michael Kay Show are now connected with the New York Mets radio broadcasts, since 880 is also their home station? ”Michael Kay is on the Mets station, but he is the Yankee announcer.” Ciafardini, who also teaches Sports Journalism in Fordham’s Communication & Media Studies department pointed out.
Time will tell of course. But Mr. Kay, and all the local ESPN radio talk shows have been given an enormous tool. Personally, now I can hear him when I drive to the local store.

Addendum: More on AM vs FM radio
AM, known as Amplitude Modulation, got here first and used their political and financial muscles to keep FM, or Frequency Modulation, off-of-the-dial..
Note: For some context of how competitive this got, read about the suicide of FM inventory Edwin Howard Armstrong: In late 1933 he was issued other patents for a new radio signaling system which became FM radio. He spent much of his time in court defending himself & suing others over the primacy of his patents. In 1954, after 5 years of legal battles about the FM patent, & after his wife left him in 1953, Armstrong committed suicide.
Eventually FM radio found its place, starting the second half of the 20th Century. The two diverse technologies reshuffled the radio industry. Almost all of the music on radio stations comes from FM stations. While much  of the AM offerings provided consist of All-News formats (until recently WCBS-880) call-in shows and sporting events.
For more information read: https://www.diffen.com/difference/AM_vs_FM
Will AM radios go away with Electric Cars?
In an electric vehicle, voltage levels are many times higher than those seen in a gas-powered car or truck. Because of this, AM signals become less effective.
Some electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers are eliminating AM radios from their cars, which government officials fear could put people at risk in an emergency. For example, Tesla ‘s dropping AM radio from its cars.
Why it matters: AM radio is one of the critical ways that federal, state, and local officials communicate with the public during natural disasters and other emergencies. If drivers don't have access, they might miss important safety alerts.

Dzmm radyo patrol 630 online
Tumblr media
#DZMM RADYO PATROL 630 ONLINE SERIAL#
The internal gain stages are pre-matched for performance and stability across the entire station.Īccording to them, that is often necessary because the best locations for an antenna are on top of a mountain, where a much shorter tower is required, but where a studio is completely impractical. Unlike older STL models that they have, the power amplifier combined with a wideband synthesizer means no tuning is required. Each transmitter is equipped with a wideband power amplifier to produce a radiated output power that is adjustable from the front panel up to 30 watts in most bands. Studio Transmitter Link or STL transmitters provide the value and features demanded by today’s broadcasters.
#DZMM RADYO PATROL 630 ONLINE SERIAL#
Most of their video switcher are targeted at the professional market, with newer analog models having component video connections and digital ones using Serial Digital Interface Additionally, most of the their video switcher can perform keying operations and generate color signals called mattes. One of their radio segment that has more than 50 effects is “Failon ngayon: Ted Failon.”Īccording to them, their video switcher is way different from the old switcher that they used because it has hard cuts which allows them to switch directly between two input signals, mixers can also generate a variety of transitions, from simple dissolves to pattern wipes. This is similar to what a mixing consoledoes for audio. In addition, wireless “hot spots” in locations such as airports, parks, and cafes allow them to connect to the Internet and enables them to use VoIP service wirelessly.Īs far as I can remember, a digital video switcher or vision mixer is a device that they use to select between several t video sources and in some cases compositing or mixing video sources together to create special effects. According to them their VoIP services is different and more high-tech because they are allowed to call other people using the same service, but then can also call anyone who has a telephone number – including local, long distance, mobile, and international numbers. Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), is one of their new technology that allows them to make voice calls using a Internet connection instead of a regular phone line. So now, let us proceed to the new equipments of those two radio stations that we visited.īased on our interview. Staffed by eight DJs, DZYK-FM 102.1 MHz was popularized to listeners in Metro Manila area. In 1957, CBN bought Alto Broadcasting System (ABS) resulting in a merger under the name Bolinao Electronics Corporation, later named ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation in 1967. DZYK-FM was founded in 1956 and played oldies music and the latest songs of that time. The next one is M.O.R 101.9 ( My Only Radio For Life )ĭZYL-FM 102 MHz, later named DZYK-FM 102.1 MHz, is the first FM radio station in the Philippines and sole FM station of the former Chronicle Broadcasting Network (CBN). The first one is DZMM which is located inside the ELJ Building.ĪBS-CBN DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 (630 kHz Metro Manila) is the flagship AM station of ABS-CBN Corporation in the Philippines. But before anything else, I will just give a quick and simple history about the radio station we visited. We are not allowed to take some photos of their new equipments/machines but they explained those devices to us. Earlier this year,we visited two radio stations under ABS-CBN which is DZMM and M.O.R 101.9.

DEVELOPING STORY: 'Favorite Music Radio' launches new flagship FM station in Manila? [#OneNETnewsEXCLUSIVE]
Tumblr media
QUEZON, MANILA -- Local airwaves in National Capital Region (NCR) are soon to welcome a new player as Favorite Music Radio [FMR] (or much simply as 'FM Radio', but not actual the transistor or digital radio unit model), the newest flagship music and news FM radio station, prepares for a test broadcast later this month in October 2024 under the banner of Philippine Collective Media Corporation (PCMC).
Citing from an Instagram post named 'DJ Jhai Ho', whose real name as 'Ms. Jireh Nepomuceno Seruelo', a former DJ of DWRR-FM 101.9mhz's My Only Radio: Manila and current Showbiz News anchor of DWPM-AM Radyo 630 in Quezon City, Metro Manila… The listeners in and outside of Manila returns home after 4 years off-the-air due to nationwide franchise shutdown of the ABS-CBN radio network.
Originally slated to operate from Barangay Sagkahan in 'Tacloban, Leyte' via DYDR-FM 100.7mhz's FM Radio: Tacloban, the station could well be relocated to 'Manila, NCR' and soon on migrations for an instance, becoming a regional affiliate station alone in Tacloban City.
Within a series of video teasers on Facebook (owned by Meta Platforms Inc. [MPi]), the newest FM station is expected possibly to broadcast on the same FM frequency dial of 101.9, or a different vacant frequency dial, bringing a fresh mix of music and news to the bustling metropolis area. OneNETnews cannot independently verify the authenticity of this report.
Yet, the station awaits official confirmation in press release from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) to secure a new and official callsign of 'FM Radio: Manila' under PCMC and Prime Media Holdings.

Louis Tomlinson is finally ready to drop his new single and the long-awaited track is called "Two of Us." On Wednesday (February 27), the former One Direction bandmate took to his social media to reveal the upcoming track's title, simple artwork and March 7th release date. Just a day earlier, the 27-year-old had shared a video of himself writing a note (or maybe they were lyrics) to a piano-led instrumental, which may very well be the anticipated single. Meanwhile, it seems the music video was recently filmed in at The Hunslet Club in the UK. On Saturday, the youth club's CEO Dennis Robbins shared a photo of himself with Louis via Twitter, writing, "Had Louis Tomlinson from 1 Direction down at the club today filming for a new song, a great lad #hunsletclub." As per a recent report, Tomlinson has also found a new home at Arista Records. The label was relaunched in 2018 as part of Sony's joint venture with former Island Records chief David Massey. Massey has worked with a string of young stars, including Shawn Mendes, Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers, so the shift could provide a nice home for the singer. Earlier this month, Tomlinson teased new music via Twitter, writing, "Just heard the master of the single. So excited for you all to hear it!" He also admitted that he's been away from the spotlight to spend some time catching up with family and friends. Nonetheless, he seemed motivated to work hard in 2019, writing, "Hope you're all ready for this year. Let's make it f**king
