Since you're considering allowing second chance brackets, would it be possible to make one for late submissions? I didn't discover the poll until round 1 had already started. I'm appalled nobody mentioned VIXX (Voodoo Doll, Error, Chained Up, Shangri La, Scentist) or BAP (1004 Angel, Badman, Wake Me Up) and the list is a travesty for their absence. Come on now, Tumblr 🙄

I've been thinking about what I'll do after the main tournament ends; I think I do want to run another kpop-based tournament but with a more specific theme! Maybe based on the different generations, or for boy groups vs girl groups. I think it would be fun, plus that way I'll have more varied submissions (since I think I only had 4 followers when the original submissions were out)

every time i try to watch one of these videos, in good fucking faith mind you, i end up coming out of them more irritated than i did before going in. they present their argument like straight facts but then proceed to conveniently forget exactly one crucial bit of information; the fact that bap existed for a whole fucking year before bts. even going by their own definition of "paving the way," bap were here charting 10th place on american billboards with their debut album. do they know about bap being in new york in 2013 and basically shutting down times square from how many excited fans there were. do they know yongguk (the leader) has been writing and producing shit since before he debuted as an idol and still continues to do so even now as a soloist (hell he literally came out with an album last year and even talked about in an interview how he experimented with a lot of different sounds and rap styles on it). do they know bap was part of ts entertainment -read: omg not part of the big 3- which arguable is a way fucking shittier company than even hybe may have been back in the day. do they know bap werent just a one-hit-wonder the way psy was considered; they were huge since their debut and had hit after hit after hit with power and no mercy and one shot and 1004 until -oh youd never believe this- they went on hiatus for an entire year because they were suing their company because of how horribly they were being treated and the payment that was being withheld from them thanks to a fucking loophole the company found/created with their contracts. now look me dead in my mother fucking eyes and try to convince me kpop fans arent one of the most fickle people out there. they either pick a group they like more than others and devote themselves solely to that one specific group, OR (and this is the most common one) will latch onto the next big shiny popular artist/group everybody else seems to be talking about. look me in the eyes and tell me that after a year of silence their popularity wouldnt have taken a dip. but you sure as hell cant take any of the accomplishments they achieved beforehand away from them. I actually can’t choose :( Dari semalam itu gue ngelist beberapa lagu dengan angka di judulnya yang gue tau, karena gue takut ada yg kelewat. Gue filter terus lagu-lagu itu, ada sekitar 60-an lagu lah ya, sampai akhirnya gue stuck di 24 lagu yang gue suka. It was a very hard decision karena sebenarnya gue pengen masukin semua lagu itu di kategori ini. Tapi untuk hari ini, gue memilih lagu ini.

Seperti yang kemarin, ini adalah salah satu dari beberapa lagu yang langsung muncul di otak gue. Beberapa yang lainnya itu 22 nya Taylor Swift sama 0330 nya U-Kiss. Terus ada lagu yang baru gue inget lagi setelah semalaman nyari-nyari, Satu nya Superglad. Gue memilih lagu ini untuk tema hari ini berdasarkan faktor gue ingin lagu ini lebih dikenal sama semua orang. Walaupun gue agak berat antara memilih lagu ini atau 0330 nya U-Kiss. But for today, B.A.P. really got my heart.

Lagu ini rilis tahun 2014, dan lagu pertama B.A.P. yang dapat posisi no 1 di chart acara music di Korea, setelah 2 tahun mereka debut. Pertama kali dengar lagu ini gue masih SMA, kalau gak salah sebelum gue pindah kuliah diluar kota. Gue langsung suka sama lagu ini. Kalau diingat-ingat dulu waktu mereka ngeluarin studio album First Sensibility ini barengan sama BTS ngeluarin EP Skool Love Affair dengan lagu Boy In Luv yang juga gue suka. Waktu itu gue sempat contemplating mau beli album fisiknya, karena harga studio album B.A.P. sama EP BTS itu sama. Tapi akhirnya gue gak beli keduanya. Gue tau dari dulu kalau Bang Yongguk itu yang nulis lirik dari lagu-lagu B.A.P. dan belakangan jadi komposer dan produser juga. Dan gue pernah baca di group discussion, dimana gue lupa dulu, waktu lagu ini booming kalau lagu ini ditulis Bang Yongguk dari pengalamannya (cmiiw). Kalau gue perhatiin arti dari beberapa lagu B.A.P. yang ditulis sama Yongguk, memang artinya tuh deep banget. Well he is a pretty deep person with a very good personality. Bisa kalian googling Bang Yongguk dan baca artikel tentang dia.

By the way, I’m not good with Korean language, malah gue gak ngerti Bahasa Korea. Gue cuma paham beberapa kata aja. But Google helped me all the way. Menyukai musik dari negara yang bahasanya gue gak ngerti malah bikin gue belajar hehe. Anyway back to the topic, if you just ignore the language that they used in these songs, their music is very very good.

Genre mereka K-Pop kan ya, tapi kalau kalian dengerin dua-duanya, beda banget feel musik antara kedua lagu itu. I like both of them the same, dan turns out setelah dicari lirik lagunya, keduanya sama-sama ngegambarin tentang kehilangan.

Salah satunya lebih ke yang sedih mendayu-dayu, menurut gue ini kedengeran dari musiknya dan cara U-Kiss nyanyiin liriknya. Gue dapet feel yang, ah kangen banget gue sama lo, I still cannot forget you, I keep thinking about you, I really miss you, I can’t sleep at night as shown in the translation of the lyrics. The feeling of losing someone, that makes you unable to sleep at night and end up awake at 03.30 am mourning about that person, how you miss and love them, the image of them leaving you, hoping to be together and start over things. Sedih. Sedih yang sedih banget sampai kepikiran dan gak bisa tidur.

On the other side, my song of the day also picturing the sadness of losing someone. Tapi yang gue rasakan dari musik dan cara B.A.P. menyanyikan lirik 1004 itu lebih ke sedih frustasi karena kehilangan sesuatu atau seseorang yang sangat amat berharga dalam hidup. Saking berharganya, yang hilang itu digambarkan di sini like an angel-천사 같은 너 (di Bahasa Korea, 1004 itu dibaca cheonsa-천사 , 1000=cheon-천, 4=sa-사, tapi literal meaning dari 천사 itu angel).

Sekilas kalau hanya dengerin lagunya tanpa cari arti dari liriknya, you can actually listen the frustration they had in their voice. Di bagian reff kalian bisa dengar mereka nyanyiin liriknya agak sedikit tinggi dan teriak. Maybe I’m a fan of loud songs but you know when you get the feeling where you are sad and frustrated enough and want to scream out your sadness and longing, ini yang gue rasakan saat mendengar lagu ini.

Dari lagu ini gue dapet feel yang, sumpah gue gak bisa hidup tanpa lo, you are the reason that I live, how am I supposed to live without you? I’m dying without you, I think of you everyday, I’m ruined after you left me something like that. Perasaan sedih frustasi karena kehilangan seseorang, yang membuat kita gak bisa ngapa-ngapain, kehilangan arah, bener-bener merana dan gak bisa hidup tanpa orang itu. Setiap hari mikirin dia terus, sampe merasa bahwa diri sendiri tuh semenyedihkan itu.

Kalau di lagu 0330 he asked this person to come back and not leave him, di lagu 1004 he practically begged this person not to leave him. B.A.P. mourned about their pitiful state after being left behind in this song, how they are blank everyday, how they say they don’t have anyone else, and how they can’t do anything everyday. That, and the music is also sad and dark enough to deliver the frustrated feeling.

Dua lagu ini sangat gue rekomendasikan untuk kalian nyanyi di karaoke. Terutama 1004 by B.A.P. which is the perfect fit for today's challenge. Anyway selain itu ini dia honorable mentions yang mungkin akan gue bahas di postingan lainnya

When I went down memory lane the other time, I obviously didn’t cover everyone, but ofc I gotta talk about the legends that are BAP. 

They included three fucking songs in a MV that actually had a really interesting story and it flowed so well. The rapping, the singing, the choir vocals, the choreo, the cinematography, the strings, JUST EVERYTHING.
