Some of my Favorite Nalu moments 🩷💛

Cause I’ve been rewatching Fairy Tail and also checking out 100 Year Quest and it’s been taking me back to when I was in middle obsessing over them. Btw this is in no particular order.

1. When Lucy was taken hostage by the royal guards, the guild had to tie Natsu to a pillar to prevent him from going after her and causing chaos

2. Some dude mistaking Wendy as Natsu and Lucy’s daughter, then Natsu proceeding to ask Lucy what there kids would look like 🤣🤣

3. That entire ep where Lucy thought Natsu was going to confess his feelings to her (turns out he just needed her help to dig a hole 💀)

4. Natsu becoming E.N.D. because Lucy “died” 😭💔

5. When captured my Phantom Lord, Lucy jumped off a high building trusting/knowing that Natsu will be there to catch her (he did)

6. Virgo giving them matching celestial outfits ✨

7. Natsu stealing the town’s rainbow sakura tree and putting it in front of Lucy’s apartment so she could see it when she was stuck in bed sick 🥰

8. Lucy rewriting E.N.D. to save Natsu (risking her own life in the process)

9. Literally anytime Natsu gives Lucy his scarf (he hates it when people touch his scarf but she’s always the exception)

10. Natsu running to catch Lucy as she fell from the sky after the Infinity Clock was destroyed

11. Natsu showing Lucy the stars in the Dragon Cry movie

12. Asuka asking Natsu and Lucy to kiss each other (she’s a shipper like us 😂) and Natsu actually willing to go through with it.

Bonus: Edo Natsu and Lucy literally being married and they have a daughter together!! 😭💞 (Natsu, your freaking counterpart is beating you, step up your game!!)

Why NaLu Hasn’t Happened (may contain Fairy Tail spoilers).

Every Fairy Tail fan knows that even though some ships may not necessarily be canon, there are canon pairings where both characters have expressed romantic feelings for each other at some point throughout the series. Those pairings include Jellal and Erza (Jerza), Gray and Juvia (Gruvia) and plenty more, including Natsu and Lucy (Nalu). With 100 Years Quest currently ongoing, it seems like every ship has sailed except for the most obvious one…NALU! And if we’re being honest, it may not happen any time soon if at all.

It’s no secret that Nalu has plenty of ship moments and is given multiple opportunities to confess to each other or to even give as little as a kiss, but it just doesn’t happen. The main reason we never even get as far as a confession is because Natsu is way too dense. Because he was raised by a dragon, Natsu has a lot of "animalistic" tendencies such as protecting his family, that being Lucy, Happy and the rest of the guild. But you never hear him clearly express why he does what he does, it’s always "I won’t let you hurt them" or "because I have to". This behavior also plays a major role in his relationship with Lucy. It’s very clear that he has feelings for Lucy and that he would do anything for her, even going as far as bringing an entire tree to her house just because she was sick and couldn’t go see it for herself. Whenever Natsu does something extravagant like that for Lucy and she expresses her gratitude, he always responds in a nonchalant way, saying things like "Oh, it was nothing" almost as if it were his duty to go above and beyond like an animal caring for its family. Instead of Natsu being able to clearly communicate to Lucy that he loves her, he will do an act of service, using love languages to speak for him. Though we may even get a confession one day, I don’t think they could ever go as far as to use labels like "boyfriend" or "girlfriend", maybe instead of his normal nonchalant behavior, he will use the reasoning "I love you" as a clear explanation as to why he does certain things for Lucy.

Not only is Natsu dense but Lucy is still very embarrassed about her feelings for him. This is clear in the episode where Natsu asks Lucy to meet him so they can "talk". Lucy gets flustered at just the thought of him confessing to her, and she quickly rushes the idea out of her mind. She even turns red whenever she gets romantic thoughts about him or is drilled with questions about their relationship. When Nalu gets their lighthearted ship moments in the series, it’s always of them being close together or put in a position where they have to get in each other’s personal space (not talking about the groping lmao). In the episode where Nastu and Lucy babysit Asuka, she asks the two to kiss. Natsu agrees, but Lucy turns red and uses Happy as a decoy when it’s finally time to lock lips. She responds this way, not because she doesn’t want to kiss him but because she is embarrassed by the idea of them kissing.

Another reason why Nalu probably won’t be happening any time soon is because they are the main characters. In any anime series you get into, it is very rare that the main characters get together during the series, even if it is a primarily romantic series, so you definitely can’t expect that from a story that isn’t mainly focused on romance. Putting the two main characters together leaves very little room for excitement later on in their relationship, especially with one like Nalu’s. They are best friends but not only that, Nastu has seen Lucy naked plenty of times already, and when it happens in a relationship, certain milestones are not as exciting for the audience anymore (at least in my personal opinion). Fairy Tail is an action series, so most of the time characters are focused on fighting. There is really little time to focus on a major amount of romantic development for the main characters, unlike Gruvia and Jerza where they aren’t always being used to carry along our plot.

Going back to what I said about there being little time for major romantic development, both characters have A LOT of growing left to do, especially Lucy. In 100 Years Quest, Lucy is now one of the strongest characters in the series with her badass power-ups and battle scenes. Throwing her into a relationship right now would not only take the focus away from her character development as a strong wizard but it could also leave fans looking forward to her growth very disappointed. And though Natsu’s battle with his identity was pretty much over once the anime ended, he still has to worry about the showdown with his brother Ignia and the rest of the Dragon Gods. I can’t tell the future but I’m pretty certain that encounters he may have with villains leading up to his battle with Ignia, could possibly leave him in a major identity crisis. Giving Natsu a blond girlfriend in the mist of all that would definitely feel out of place. Nalu deserves a well paced and 100% focused build up leading to a relationship.

With that being said, I am still a very hopeful Nalu shipper! Maybe it’ll happen one day and maybe it won’t. Either way, me along with other Nalu fans will continue to enjoy whatever crumps we get out of their relationship, whether it be the official arts or the upcoming manga chapters. Nalu may not be a canon ship but it is still a canon pairing!

Okay headcanon time.

So for ages I’ve always wondered whether magic can be inherited or not. So like if your parents are powerful wizards chances are you’ll be one too. So the main reason I've always thought this is due to the fact that whenever you see a powerful character and are then introduced to a family members of theirs, that family member is as powerful or more so.

And I have examples. But I am gonna put a read more cause this is gonna get looooooong.

There's also gonna be spoilers beyond this point if you haven't watched the anime or read the manga.

So first off Laxus is a powerful wizard, he's an s-class wizard at a young age. While you could always say that that is due to his lacrima, I've always believed him to have the potential for powerful magic but because he was born sickly he could never fully achieve it. But then you look at his family and both his dad and grandfather are both powerful wizards. I mean Makarov is a wizard saint, not many get more powerful than that. Even looking back further, while we don't see the full extent of Yuri's magic in action he does appear to be somewhat powerful from the get go.

Then we move onto Cana. Guildarts is considered the most powerful member of Fairytail, the top ranked S-class mage who was even allowed to try a 100 years quest. Cana has shown multiple times how powerful she is, she's the only person in the guild whos been able to wield fairy glitter.

Then we have Erza, now from the very beginning Erza is shown to be an absolute powerhouse, from meeting her it would be easy to assume that she gained her power through grit and determination. However, we are then introduced to one Irene Belserion. Now Irene is cast as a pretty badass person from the start so you can definitely see where Erza gets parts of her personality from. Magically speaking Irene is said to be one of the top members of the spriggan twelve. Now when we first meet a member of the spriggan twelve we meet Brandish who is most likely one of the less powerful ones, but still her magic is described as overwhelming, so Irene's magic must be even more so.

Now Lucy is an interesting case, while Layla did in fact open (and likely closed) the eclipse gate on her own when it required both Lucy and Yukino to do so later, she (if I remember correctly) also had a pre-existing condition which made her magic less powerful? That being said it's shown that she was already a remarkable wizard and even held the respect of Aquarius who seems to have taken her death very hard. Going further back though we also have Anna Heartfilia, Lucy's ancestor. She's described as being one of the most powerful celestial spirit mage of all time.

Now finally while we don't ever learn about their parents or see if either was canonically powerful. I feel it's safe to assume that at least one of their parents was quite powerful. Natsu and Zeref are revealed to be canonically siblings. Now before we get this reveal you would assume that Zeref is only that powerful because of how long he's been alive for and has accumulated that power over the centuries. But we can then assume that he was already pretty powerful at a young age, I imagine had things worked out he would've used the eclipse gate himself instead of teaming up with Anna. We also see that Natsu is already one of Fairytail's powerhouses (honestly why he's not S-class yet is something I'll never understand). So I can imagine that the both of them had the potential for being powerful wizards long before either of them cast their first spell.

Whew. okay I'm done, I'm sorry this got so long, it's been bugging me for so long. I do want to stress that this may not be 100% accurate but this is just my own interpretation and headcanon.
