O my I'm gonna have to put this in a Google doc xD
1.) Not that I can particularly think of, no. The only instance there might be is a big cliffhanger for my fic Venture, I think.
2.) I'd say Venture or Imprisoned. (I should prolly link these, huh) Venture, because it's so long and I've got so many things happening in it, Imprisoned because of how many times Sap lashes out and fights back, and subsequently gets beat back down.
3.) Absolutely yes I do! I listen to music when I do everything! My current top four songs are Aura by GHOST, Rest Employed by the Stupendium, The End of The Line by the Stupendium, and Iron Lung by the Stupendium. Very good listens, I highly recommend them! (Remind me to put links)
4.) Just Google Docs
5.) Not particularly, just whenever motivation decides to hit me.
6.) I've always wanted to be a writer since I was a little kid, but what seriously got me started was the indie game Ib, where I was like, 'i can make g/t of that's and started typing away. That was several years ago tho, and the fic still hasn't seen the light of day cause my older writing is so bad. It needs to go through some heavy editing before I let it out.
7.) I have an Eddsworld nom fic i'm almost done with. I've been hanging on to it since I ditched my eddsworld blog (sadness) cause I wasn't willing to let the fic go. Another one I wanna talk about is a (still unnamed) XD fic. It's inspired by I think one of jknight's fics. It's got Sap and Dream and XD and it's sorta almost done.
8.) Sapnap, definitely. I like unhinged characters, and I like characters that can be calm headed in bad situations. The guy can be both!
9.) A snippet, you say…? How about this one? It's a bit of a continuation to Bees, when the Dream team are better acquaintances and George and Dream actually start to hang out with Sapnap.
"You've got–you've got five eyes?" Sapnap’s eyebrows creased, and he cocked his head at the hybrid.
Dream laughed and raised a hand to push up his fringe of hair. Indeed, there was a tiny, vertical fifth eye slitted in the middle of his forehead.
"Yep, but I don't use it much. My two main eyes do the same as the fifth.”
10.) I don't believe so? There is a thing I like to do, tho, cause I think it's funny. If I mess up the tag 'reblog' and misspell it like 'renlog' or 'reblig' I like to add fuck immediately after : D
Ty for the asks!!!

December 2023 Mangum Dental Hike-of-the-Month Wave Cave, Superstition Mountains, Apache Junction, AZ by Jami Ogden
Distance: 3.0 Miles Difficulty: Moderate Elevation Gain: 869 feet (2,200' to 3180') Parking: There is minimal parking, which tends to fill up quickly on the weekends. We went on Wednesday and saw about three people. You will need a permit to park at this particular trailhead as it is not public land but Arizona State Trust Land. You can get an individual permit for $15. Permits are per person and not per vehicle. Permits can be paid for online at https://azland.my.salesforce-sites.com/recreationalpermit/ Directions: Type "Carney Springs Trailhead" into your navigation app or take Highway 60, Superstition Fwy, 6 miles East of Apache Junction, and turn left on Peralta Road. Drive Northeast on Peralta Road; the road turns to dirt after the houses of Gold Canyon. The road is suitable for cars. After 5.6 miles, stay on Peralta Road by staying left, and in a half mile, the small parking lot will be on the west side of the road.
Summary The Wave Cave can be found near the Superstition Mountains just outside of Apache Junction. It's a popular 3-mile out-and-back trail that is considered a challenging hike, but we have graded it moderate. The hike begins flat, and the terrain becomes increasingly rocky and steep. Begin at Canary Springs trailhead just off Peralta Rd. You’ll find a lost gold mine along the trail and stunning views of the Superstition Mountains along the way to the cave. There are some intersecting trails, so follow the white arrows. When you reach the cave, you’ll enjoy the coolness of the cave with a breathtaking view of the Superstitions! There is often an abundance of bees in the cave. From the trailhead, you can see the cave opening and the slight shadow of the rock formation inside the cave that resembles a giant wave. The hike starts at a steady incline and becomes steeper, with boulders to climb as you get closer to the cave. We started our hike around 10:00 a.m., and it got warm fast. The trail is exposed, so I highly recommend packing extra water. We also knew it would take us a bit longer to hike, and we wanted to take our time inside the cave, so we opted to pack a picnic lunch. We were grateful for the food and rest once we reached the trail's end and inside the cave. The cave was cool and breezy, with many calming sounds and echoes. One of the most incredible things we discovered while exploring the cave was a tiny hidden treasure box! My sister and I went outside the cave to the right, and it had another little smaller cave that was perfect for throwing out our blanket for a picnic. When I turned around inside the mini cave, there was a low overhang; a small glimmer caught my eye, and I realized something was in the nook of the rocky overhang. My sister (who is much taller than I) reached up and pulled out a tiny metal treasure chest! Inside was a note to take a treasure and leave a treasure. I took out a lucky penny, and she chose a tiny little stitched doll. We replaced the items with our Star Wars key chains, Yoda and R2D2 found a new home inside the box, and we re-hid the treasure chest for the next lucky people to find! So, if you decide to take this hike, make sure you keep an eye out for hidden treasure!

Meditating with ADHD and anxiety
Disclaimer: this is just what's worked for me, everyone's brains work differently.
So you have ADHD, and you have anxiety, and everyone under the sun tells you to meditate but it feels impossible. Good news! It's possible to not only meditate with ADHD, but also see an overall reduction of cyclical anxiety thoughts both during and outside of meditation. My advice is coming from the perspective of someone who does ACT therapy and has studied Buddhism and is considering converting.
First of all, I know it's super annoying that everyone says meditation will solve all your problems. Trust me. I know. But, there is science backing up the positive effects of meditation on anxiety. A quick google search for scientific studies brought up this study, and there are others. I'm just in too much pain to hunt them all down because I want to get this typed up before I need to get off my computer and lay down.
I noticed a difference in my cyclical anxiety thought patterns after about a week of meditating for ten minutes every day. I get these thoughts about my partner dying, or losing my income, or becoming dependent on my really terrible family, and they just torture me. I suffer so much just because I can't get my brain to calm down and just stop. And I had tried meditation in the past, but I would get these cyclical thoughts in the middle of meditating sometimes. Other times, I simply wasn't meditating because I was lost in my thoughts the entire ten minutes. But! I figured out a method to deal with both of those problems. Here's how I did it.
First I'll start with the difficulty that ADHD causes when it comes to meditation. First of all, there are tools to help you meditate. I have a mala, which is a long string of Buddhist prayer beads, sort of like a rosary except without the guilt of Catholicism to go with it. The beads are used to help you focus on/count your breath or a mantra or whatever the object of your meditation is. Starting with holding the bead next to the big bead, you breathe in, breathe out, and then go onto the next bead. I find this physical activity helps with my ADHD fidgetyness and helps me focus. You can go all the way around til you get back to the big bead, but if you're going to continue, don't cross the big bead. Turn the mala around and go back the way you came.
I now do silent meditation where I focus on my breath, one in and out breath for each bead. But that's a little more advanced and harder to do without practicing first. I recommend first trying a short guided meditation. There's a Buddhist monastic community in France called Plum Village that has an app (called Plum Village App) and on the app there's a variety of guided and silent meditations, but I highly recommend the one in the short meditations section called "Calm-Ease." It's six minutes long (there's also eight, fifteen, twenty, and thirty minute versions but start with six), and I still use elements of it during my silent meditations because it's just that good.
All the meditations on the app have a mantra and then a shortened version. For example, the calm/ease one has several different mantras but the heart of it is "Breathing in, I am calm. Breathing out, I feel at ease." And then you can shorten it to (breathing in) "calm" (breathing out) "ease." In this case, you could repeat "calm/ease" once per bead on the mala. I sometimes do this when I can't sleep (I wear my mala to bed) and it helps.
(If you're interested in trying out meditation with a mala, I recommend buying one from The Tibetan Nun Project, which is a nonprofit that supports refugee Tibetan nuns in Northern India. They sell wrist and long malas, and the price ranges from $10-$45. They sell plastic, bone, wood, and crystal malas.)
Meditation takes practice. It's like a muscle you can train. At first, when I meditated, even if I was doing guided meditations, my mind would wander constantly. However, this happens less and less the more you practice. And getting your mind to be completely quiet isn't the goal. The goal is lowering your stress level. So the first thing you need to do is just accept that you'll get distracted. If you're beating yourself up or getting frustrated every time your mind wanders, you're just going to stress yourself out. But the moment you realized you've been distracted is the moment you begin the be mindful again, so please don't get frustrated. Meditation is a practice, meaning we can get better at it, and you have to suck at something to get better at it, that's just part of the process. So when you notice your mind has been wandering, simply tell yourself "Okay, back to the subject at hand" and go back to your breath or mantra or whatever you are focusing on.
Now, you ask, it's great that doing this regularly will help my anxiety, but what do I do if I get anxiety mid meditation? I have this problem sometimes, and it makes meditating frustrating and unpleasant. So I've taken up a practice recommended by both my therapist and Zen Buddhist master Thich Nhat Hanh. In this method, you talk to your anxiety like you would a friend. Not trying to talk it out of being stressed, but rather, offering it your compassion.
Think of it this way: if your friend was anxious, you would have compassion for them. You would sit with them and be kind to them until they calmed down. And the part of you that is anxious deserves compassion and kindness too. So I will literally talk to my anxiety silently, saying "Hello anxiety, I see you are back. It's true we are very happy, and it makes us afraid that we will lose that happiness. Thank you for trying to prepare me for the worst. You are very scared, and it's okay to be scared. I will sit with you until you feel better." And then I find the compassion in myself that I would give to a scared friend, and I sit with that in my heart and let my anxiety feel it.
It's very important to not try to talk the anxiety out of being anxious, or tell it it needs to go away. It's very tempting, but anxiety will fight back if you do this. Instead, realize the anxious part of you is suffering, and offer it kindness and compassion. ACT stands for "Acceptance Commitment Therapy" and one of the main tenants is accepting things the way they are and knowing and reassuring yourself that things will not always be that way. So you're not fighting your anxiety, you're accepting it and reminding yourself that you won't always be anxious. This helps slow down cyclical anxiety thoughts. And from a Buddhist perspective, it's important to accept our feelings without judgement because we are not our thoughts.
I use this method to deal with anger, as well. I sometimes get into imaginary conversations with people I am angry at while I'm trying to meditate. At first this was frustrating. I'm trying to be compassionate and kind to everyone, even people who don't deserve it. Being pissed off isn't conducive to that. But anger is always a secondary emotion. There's always an emotion behind it, making the anger. Whether that is pain, frustration, hurt feelings, fear, hunger, etc, there's always a reason you're angry.
So I sit with my anger and talk to it, and offer to hold its hand until it calms down. By meditating on my anger in this way, I am able to see deeply into the source of my anger. For example, one day, I was getting agitated thinking about my father and my extended family. I don't have good relationships with them, and that hurts. So while I meditated on my anger, and sat with it and told it it was okay to be angry, I realized the source of my anger wasn't just hurt, it was specifically that I feel like these people, who should love me and who SAY they love me, don't actually love me because I am queer and they don't accept that.
And all of a sudden, the underlying reason for my suffering hit me all at once. I just want to be loved. I immediately felt compassion for myself. And knowing this, I was able to remind myself and my anger and hurt that we are loved! Maybe those people don't understand me well enough to love me, maybe they're cruel people and I will never get their true love. But there are other people who do love me. And seeing the source of my suffering and being able to give that suffering the specific kind of compassion it needed, helped me be less angry overall.
Overall, if you struggle to meditate due to wandering thoughts, fidgetyness, or intrusive anxiety or anger, it IS possible to find a method that works for you. It might not be 100% the same method as I have outlined here, but you can find what works for you. And you'll notice a difference fairly quickly. If you can meditate regularly, those cyclical anxiety thoughts will be less frequent overall, not just during meditation.
#mindfullness#I know this is unsolicited advice but I'm really hoping it can help someone#meditation also helps my pain#but that's a subject for another lecture

Kokkuri-san (Loki Oneshot)
Summary: You are on your way back to the Tower when you sense a strange energy emanating from it. Loki is there to help.
Pairing: Loki x F!Reader (established relationship)
Word Count: 1,718
Warnings/Disclaimers: Opens with description of being unable to breathe.
A/N: I tried to provide enough information for this to be a stand alone, but it does still act like a follow-up to Sorceress. And if you would like more information on the game Kokkuri-san, I highly recommend checking out the podcasts Kowabana and Toshiden both created by Tara A. Devlin at Kowabana.net. Just a heads up, this is NOT sponsored by anyone. I just enjoy listening to scary stories, and this became one of my favorites.
Masterlist
Molasses had seeped past your skull, compressing your brain uncomfortably. Or at least that’s what it felt like. A wavering darkness flowed around you as if you were underwater. Your lungs were sluggish to take in air, and it was getting worse. The longer you were forced to endure this pressure, the harder it was for you to focus, to breathe.
-up...
A voice muddled through the inky blackness.
Wa- up...
It sounded so familiar...
Wake up...
Nat, maybe? Were you asleep?
WAKE UP!
Your eyes shot open, unwillingly taking in the light of the Quinjet. The air you sucked in felt like gravel in your throat. Nat’s steely grip on your shoulders were beginning to ground you in reality.
“Wha- What happened?” Your throat burned as you spoke.
“Some kind of dream.” Her concerned eyes bored into you as you tried to blink yourself to full consciousness. “You were breathing heavily before you just stopped altogether. You okay?”
“Y-yeah,” you half lied. You didn’t feel nearly as bad in the dream but it still felt like sludge was creeping across your mind. Whatever energy you were getting close to was some kind of nasty. “How far are we from the Tower?”
Nat released you from her hold. “About an hour out.”
The pressure on your head was only growing worse the closer you all got.
“Okay...” you sucked in a deep breath.
Sitting in the seat across from you, Nat eyed you wearily. “You sure you’re good?”
“Yeah,” you nodded, pulling out your phone. “Just going to break one of Fury’s rules. Something is going on at the Tower.”
An eyebrow shot up her forehead. “One of those sixth sense things, again?”
“You could say that...”
You pulled up Loki in the messenger app. You could astral project yourself to talk with him, but that could be more dangerous with whatever energy was infecting the Tower.
You: Hey. We’re almost back. What’s going on there?
Loki: Good evening to you as well, Darling. You can feel the energy from where you are?
You: Yes, it’s very... Palpable. ☹️
Loki: Well, we could use the extra help. It seems that the Ant-Man’s daughter played some spirit summoning game before joining him here for the summer.
You: And it followed her... Great... Is she at least okay?
Loki: She is unharmed. More spooked than anything.
You: Good, good. Did she mention any specifics? Like which game?
Loki: She did, yes. Although, she is unsure if she remembers it correctly. I believe she said it was Kakariko.
You: That can’t be right... That’s a village from a video game series.
Loki: So I learned recently with the Spiderling’s assistance.
You: Did she mention anything else?
Loki: She spoke of strange symbols as well as numbers being written in rows on a piece of paper. A coin was used as a conduit to pick each symbol.
You huffed and smacked your head in realization.
Kokkuri-san
Similar to a Ouija board in nature, missing or mucking up a step could be dangerous. Summoning spirits really should not be a game, something you concluded after cleaning up several messes on campus caused by the students who believed themselves master magicians despite their lack of experience. You couldn’t blame them too much for wanting to try since you had played a variety of those games in traveling with your family as a child. In Japan, Kokkuri-san was all the rage in schools.
Bumping your head on the back of the seat impatiently, you checked the time on your phone for the millionth time. You were about twenty minutes away now. Estimating the physical distance, you debated on just teleporting to the Tower instead of waiting in agony during the small amount of time.
Your phone pinged with a new message.
Loki: How are you faring?
You: Better than before. Energy barrier helps. How’re things there?
Loki: I have Lang and Cassie in her room with protection. The spirit cannot reach her there. However, it is lurking about. Stark is none too pleased.
You: He’s not blaming you, is he?
Loki: He tried. It did not last long.
You: Good. We should be there shortly.
Loki: I’ll be waiting, Dove.
Placing the phone in your pocket, you huffed.
“You know,” Nat chimed in, “We should be pretty close now. Just go already.”
Contemplating a moment, you answered, “I don’t know... I’ve only practiced long distance teleportation a few times.”
“And you were successful. Count this as extra practice. Now get out of here.” The harsh sound of her words was mitigated by an encouraging smile.
With a nod, you took a deep breath and teleported to the landing pad. You were about a foot away from the floor when you reappeared. Loki was already there to catch you. The god knew you too well.
“I dare say you might be getting the hang of this.” He held you close like he was making up for lost time.
You reached up and cupped his face to pull him in for a kiss. “Only because I have a very patient teacher.”
“I have missed this,” he breathed, his lips brushing against yours. “But I believe there is a young girl waiting for our help.”
Aside from Stark’s ranting about how ghosts weren’t real, setting up the library went off without a fuss. Between the salt, candles, charms, your spells and Loki’s seiðr, there was no way this could go wrong.
After confirming with Cassie that she had indeed played Kokkuri-san with a new friend who had recently moved to the States from Japan, you had coaxed the whole story out of Cassie. At their slumber party, they had started to play and were spooked by a sudden power outage and strange noises, causing them to let go of the coin used to slide over each symbol. With their connection to the conduit broken before properly closing the game, the kami/spirit latched onto Cassie and followed her here. The best bet was to re-summon the kami in a more secure environment and properly close the game. Luckily for all of you, she had kept the 10 yen coin her friend accidentally left behind, something you needed for all this to work.
You were quadruple checking the last set of charms when Loki snuck up behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist and nuzzling your hair. “Everything ready, my little sorceress?”
“As ready as it will ever be,” you huffed before turning on your heel to face him. “This always makes me a bit nervous.”
He pulled back to look at you while he spoke. “Everything will go according to plan. Besides, you have me here. Nothing could possibly go wrong,” he chuckled, a teasing grin painted his face.
“What an ego,” you exclaimed and lightly smacked his chest. You couldn’t help your own smile. “Just go get Scott and Cassie so we can get this over with.”
“As you wish,” he relented, teleporting away after stealing a kiss to leave you flustered. It was certainly one way to lighten the mood.
The summoning had gone well enough. Both you and Loki knew for sure just by the feel of the energy the right kami had come. It was getting it to leave that was the problem.
“Kokkuri-san, please return.”
The coin slid to いいえ/iie no matter how many times you all reset it to the middle of the board.
No.
While you and Loki both grew in frustration, Scott was busy keeping Cassie calm. As level headed and clever this girl could be, the repetition was getting to her. Loki decided another tactic was in order. A few unintelligible words under his breath that you barely heard and the kami was visible on the table.
A tall kitsune clad in white and red robes hissed and glared at Loki, but made no move to attack. It knew it had no chance with all the preparations you two had done. Its four tails flicked in annoyance and its white, almost silvery ears pressed back. You held back a sigh of relief. This kitsune was not as strong as it could be, having not lived long enough to acquire its maximum nine tails and its full power.
“What is it you desire, Spirit?” Loki spoke loud and unwavering.
“Same as Mischief God. Fun,” it growled through its broken English. Despite the ability to hear it now, none of you dared remove your fingers from the coin.
“Well, you certainly have had your fill. Now begone! Return to your realm,” he challenged.
The kitsune’s tails waved wildly as it contemplated its next move. Its eyes flitted to Cassie, softening almost apologetically as it gazed upon her. Similar to its Western Fae counterparts, it did not fully understand that its version of fun was not the same as it was for mortals.
“分かりました。/Wakarimashita,” it huffed, bowing as it turned its attention back to you and Loki.
Understood.
You felt the coin move again. This time it was to the top left of the paper to hover over はい/hai. Yes.
It then promptly glided to the torii gates drawn in the top center. The kitsune vanished from the table, the energy it left behind dissipating rather quickly. You all said, “Thank you,” in unison before pulling away from the coin.
“So... Is that it?” Scott asked with a mixture of confusion and the need to ensure his daughter was safe.
“Not quite,” you mused while picking up the paper.
“What do we do?” Cassie chirped.
Your raven-haired god looked to you curiously. You didn’t tell him about the next part.
“You don’t have to do anything,” you grinned, “The next two parts are easy.”
Picking up the paper, you began tearing it. You counted as you went until you hit forty-eight.
You held up the coin for all to see. “Now. Part two is going to be more interesting.”
“Do tell,” Loki purred.
“We have to spend this within three days.” Your grin slipped into a more mischievous smirk.
Cassie’s eyes sparkled with hope. “So does that mean...”
“Uh-huh. It’s time for a vacation. Who wants to go to Japan?”

does it ever drive you crazy, just how fast the night changes?
baby’s first au whaaaaaat?
special thank you to @clumsyclifford for linking the prompt list i got this idea from! this was the prompt (it was a whole slew of celebrity AUs: “wait, you’re supposed to be DEAD and i just recognized you at the grocery store, turns out you just didn’t want to be a celebrity anymore” au. bella is also writing one from this list and it’s one of my most favorite lashton things i have ever read, highly recommend, 10/10, i could yell about hello, hello for ages omg
also here is the ao3 link if that’s your preferred way to read :)
There are few things that bring Luke as much joy as his Friday night (well, Saturday morning, really) grocery trips.
He had started working the night shift at the nurses’ desk at the children’s hospital about a year prior after graduating. He had found the job through the friend of a friend of a friend who was a nurse herself and mentioned the job needed filling fast. Luke had never really considered the idea of a night job but ultimately the work wasn’t all too bad. He made coffee every couple of hours (he made an effort to never let the pot empty which got him lots of smiles from the nurses) and every once in awhile Lina, the 6 year old cancer patient whose room was just around the corner from the brightly colored desk, would wander out to ask him to check for monsters under her bed and to be tucked back in. It was pretty simple (and heartwarming) work.
However, staying up through the night for 5 nights a week made it damn near impossible to be awake during the day on his weekends off. Luckily enough for Luke, he had friends like Michael who tended to play video games all night despite working through the day (he stopped questioning how he managed it a long time ago) and his favorite grocery store was a 24 hour location.
The first time Luke had come to do his shop at around 2am, he had felt a little spooked by the parking lot and eerie silence in between Top 40 songs that played over the intercom in the store. But he soon grew to find the general atmosphere pretty calming and he made friends with the nighttime stocker (a guy named Calum who also never saw himself doing nighttime work but here they were) and it became something he really looked forward to on his Saturday (very early) mornings.
He arrives at the store just a bit after 1am. He just finished ‘a late breakfast’ (he still always finds himself giggling at the concept of eating meals at opposite points in the day as everyone else despite the obvious logic to the schedule) and has a list tucked into the pocket of his sweats. It’s a little chilly out so he grabs the first sweater he sees on the backseat - a blue cardigan - since he knows they also keep the store pretty cool in the night to make sure everybody stays awake through their shift.
As he grabs one of the smaller carts as he heads into the store, he feels his phone buzzing in his pocket. He pulls out his list first and drops it into the baby seat of the cart and then grabs his phone. Luke’s faced with the wild selfie Michael set for his profile picture and he rolls his eyes as clicks the icon to answer the call.
“What’s up, Mikey?” he answers as he starts pushing the cart in the direction of the produce section.
“You at the store yet?” Luke can hear the clicking of the buttons on the controller in Michael’s hands.
“Yeah, just got in. You need anything?”
Michael then rambles off a short list that Luke jots down into his notes app since he doesn’t have a pen or anything with him. He assures his friend he’ll come drop off the odd collection of snacks and things (“They have to be the dinosaur shaped ones. I swear Luke they do taste better.”) once he finished up his shop of real groceries.
Luke wanders around the produce, picking out what fruits and veggies he wants to have around for the week. He takes his time finding the apples without the bruises, bananas that will be the perfect amount of ripe by midweek, some leafy bunches for the salad he’s been assigned to bring for the breakroom potluck on Tuesday. He’s checking out some strawberries that he thinks might be nice to toss into the mix too when a human sized figure appears in the corner of his vision.
It’s a man around his size (in similar cozy clothes) facing away from him. He’s got hair the opposite color to Luke’s bleached blonde. His messy black curls are pulled back into a tiny bun that mirrors Luke’s own. The other man is broad and has a tattoo of a bird across the back of his neck, just barely visible above the collar of a faded blue sweatshirt. The tattoo is one that seems oddly familiar to Luke, as though it belongs to someone he knows. The man begins to wander off toward the bakery section of the store though and Luke shrugs off the recognition, figuring it might be someone he’s seen around a waiting room in the hospital at some point. He settles on some strawberries and starts pushing his cart in the direction of the deli and meats.
As he stares at the different packages of chicken and breakfast sausages, he can’t help but think back on the man he saw though. There was something achingly familiar about him, and more than just the tattoo. He can’t shake the thought for some reason and finds himself jumping in surprise when he feels his phone buzz once again in his pocket.
He doesn’t even have to look to the screen to know that it’s Michael calling again to add something to his list. In fact, he happens to even know the items that his friend failed to mention the first time he called. Luke presses the accept button and lifts the phone to his ear.
“Froot Loops and the character shaped fruit snacks?”
“The superhero ones, if they have them please!”
*
Luke continues around the store, grabbing all the bits from his list (and Michael’s 12 year old boy list) and eventually lands in the dairy section. He grabs the yogurt he’s been mixing granola into for breakfast lately and some butter for the cookies his mom sent him a recipe for. Only thing left in terms of food is cereal milk and coffee milk (2% and oat, respectively, of course). When he looks up from the list to make his way over to the fridges containing the plethora of milks, he is faced once again with the familiar stranger.
Except this time, as he catches just the briefest glimpse of the man’s face, of his hazel eyes and strong jawline, he realizes this isn’t a stranger. Very much not a stranger. It’s Ashton Irwin, the host of at least three of those reality dating shows he forces Michael to watch with him on the weekends since he can’t watch them when they air live on Monday and Tuesdays.
Or, well, he was the host of all of those shows until about two months ago.
Because Ashton Irwin has been dead for two months due to a freak heart attack while on vacation on some remote island.
Luke glances away from him for a moment in a panic. Has he completely lost it? Have the late nights finally gotten to him and he’s starting to actually see things that don’t exist? Was Calum right all along and the store really is haunted? (Though it's a little lost on him why a star TV host would want to haunt a grocery store. And not even a good one like that Whole Foods in Downtown.)
Then he realizes that perhaps he was just wrong. (Though now that he thinks about it, he very much remembers liking an Instagram picture of that tattoo on Ashton Irwin’s account a couple years back.) He’s far enough down the aisle from him that he can chance a look at the man without being caught. So, slowly, Luke turns again just slightly to look toward him.
It’s the hair that left him not immediately making the recognition. His hair has been dyed black, a stark contrast to his signature dark red but definitely a change that likely doesn’t draw as much attention. The sweatshirt he’s paired with black skinny jeans is pretty baggy and it’s a damn shame because Luke knows he has the arms of a god.
(Something Luke knows from the tabloid covers he glances at from time to time at the pharmacy and the summer version of the show that Ashton hosted, of course. He most definitely has never searched up his name + ‘biceps’ before. Never.)
But despite the obvious attempt to match the look and aesthetic of ‘2am grocery shopper’ he's still very unmistakably Ashton Irwin.
As Luke grapples with this new knowledge that apparently this person he thought was dead is not dead and also apparently goes to the same grocery as him, he fails to notice that Ashton has turned to face him and that he is still staring at him in shock.
Very quickly, Ashton’s face comes to mirror Luke’s expression and he’s rushing toward the blonde in a state of terror.
“Please don’t say anything,” he gasped in a hushed voice. The accent similar to his own that Luke has grown used to hearing on his TV sticks out some in his panicked words.
“How? I - uh? Are you,” Luke trips over every syllable that comes out of his mouth as he attempts to let his brain wrap around the situation. “Are you a ghost?”
The feared look of the black haired man actually fades some as he lets a quiet giggle escape (a very cute giggle, if Luke is being honest). “I’m, uh, not a ghost. No. Though I guess that does kind of accurately explain what I’m trying to be.”
Now Luke is even more confused. Based on the statement, he obviously wasn’t making up all of the tabloid stories he had seen about Ashton dying but something isn’t adding up to the present moment. “I don't-”
“Listen, if you’re going to go tell the press, can you at least give me like,” he glances down at his phone screen displaying the time. “2 hours to get back out to my friend’s place where I’ve been hiding?”
It’s now Luke’s turn to laugh. “You do realize if I go to some paparazzi or something and tell them I saw deceased Ashton Irwin wandering around my grocery store trying to decide between hazelnut and cashew milk they would just laugh in my face, right?”
The statement causes Ashton to look down at his hands to the milks in his hands. He sighs down at the cartons before tossing both of them in the cart. “Guess you’re not really wrong.”
“Is someone pulling some kind of long-winded, over the top prank on me right now? Am I being punk’d?” Luke asks, his head tilting some in a way that would normally have Michael making fun of him for the child-like behavior. “Because I know for a fact that I am not worth that much effort.”
The questions have Ashton smiling a bit again and Luke suddenly finds himself wanting to say increasingly dumb things so long as it’ll keep the hazel-eyed man smiling. “No, no. Not at all. I just,” his smile falters some, leaving his lips still turned up but his eyes drop some. “I started to get a little sick of the world and the world started getting a bit sick of me, I think.” Luke wonders if Ashton knew just how heavy his words feel.
He scoffs then, as if hearing Luke’s silent question. “Wow, sorry that was really dramatic,” Ashton shakes his head a bit before continuing. “Hi, I’m Ashton.”
Luke looks down to the tanned arm being stretched out toward him. He lifts a hand from his shopping cart and wraps it around Ashton’s. “I’m Luke.”
Ashton brightens again as he shakes his hand. “Well, Luke, you’re the first person other than my current landlord of sorts that I’ve come across since literally dying in the eyes of the media. So I guess I owe you an explanation? Since it seems like you’re familiar with that media viewpoint?”
Ashton moves to start pushing his cart in the direction of another area of the store but peers over his shoulder and gestures with his head to follow him. Luke quickly reaches into the fridge on his left to grab the rest of his dairy before catching up to him. “Well, you really don’t owe me anything. I don’t know you beyond what I see of you on my TV screen,” Luke wonders then if maybe he should have played it a bit cooler and not told the cute, presumed dead TV star that he watches his shows. “But I am a bit confused by whatever is going on and would like to hear anything you’re willing to share.”
“Cute and polite,” Ashton muses, avoiding Luke’s eye as he continues forward toward the packaged food aisles. “You’re already checking boxes, Luke.”
Some kind of intelligible noise falls from Luke’s lips as he feels a blush rush up to his cheeks because he’s flirting with him. Ashton only laughs and starts his story.
“Well Luke, you seem to be aware of what I did for a living up until about 2 months ago. I’ve been doing this job for like, about 5 years and before every new season of anything, there’s all these big network and programming meetings about production and filming and such. And every single time, I get hounded by our ratings people because I apparently don’t do enough to instigate and promote drama. Like my contract was getting threatened like three times a year because rather than trying to make peoples’ lives miserable, I just want to help them fall in love.
“And so at this particular meeting, about two and half months ago, just before the ‘accident’,” he punctuates the word with air quotations. “I got the boot. Ratings from the previous season were down by 3% and all of the uppers decided it was because of my congeniality and not the fact that the guy they chose for the season was a complete dick.
“So that night I have to host the red carpet stuff for an awards show. And I’m talking with all these glittery people who also do TV work and it suddenly hits me, harder than it ever has before, that every single person I’m speaking to would never even bother to smile in my direction if they didn’t know who I was. If I was just a plain old guy, the kind of guy I was back in school before I signed on to the shows, they probably wouldn’t pay me a single bit of kindness. So I decided, right then, as I was talking to some Grey’s Anatomy actor, that I wanted to get out.”
He turns into the chip aisle then, and Luke follows close behind. “You decided you wanted to step away from television and your first idea was to fake your own death?”
Ashton laughs as he reaches for a couple tubes of Pringles. “It was more than that,” he starts as he tosses the tubes into the cart. “I wanted to escape celebrity all together, not just the world of television. A friend from back home that I would trust with my life had this cabin kinda out in the middle of nowhere in this forest and he only ever uses it for like, two weeks in the summer and said I could camp out there until I find a way to get back to Australia undetected to live at the house I bought over there a few years ago. My manager helped with all the media stories and such. And two months later, here we are.”
“That’s insane,” Luke shakes his head as he speaks, reaching for his own tube of Pringles as he realizes it's been quite awhile since he got his hand stuck in a Pringle tube so why not?
“The journey is a bit wild, I will agree, Luke, but the life I’m living right now is much more enjoyable than faking it every damn day.”
Luke shakes his head (and ignores the fluttery feeling he keeps getting when Ashton says his name). “No, I mean it’s insane that I am somehow the first person that’s caught you.”
Ashton’s brows perk up at the statement. “Oh yeah no, I’m also pretty surprised by that. Figured I would have had to pay off a lot of people by now to keep them quiet.”
They’ve both pushed their carts up toward the self check out how and start scanning away at their items. Luke looks up halfway through his cart and catches Calum giving him a look from a little ways away. He’s got a suggestive look on his face. But thankfully it's one that reads much more as “ohhh Luke is talking to a boy” rather than “ohhh there’s a celebrity in my store”. Plus Luke knows Calum wouldn’t be the type to go rushing to media people to out the presence of dead celebrities in his grocery store at 2am so he chooses to subtly flip him off before reaching for the next item in his basket.
They’re both about done scanning and bagging up their groceries when Luke starts to realize he really...doesn’t want this little bit of time he’s spent with Ashton to end yet. And given his lack of normal human interaction during daylight hours as of recently, he’s a bit out of practice on the whole asking someone to extend a conversation beyond the grocery store aisles. He drops his bags back into his cart to roll back out to his car and as he watches Ashton perform the same action the words just sort of leap from his mouth. “Hey do you, uh, have anywhere to be right now?”
Ashton gently places a bag containing some produce into his cart before turning to Luke, a teasing smirk resting on his lips. “Luke, it’s 2am and I’m presumed dead to everyone but about 4 people,” he catches that Luke still looks somewhat nervous (something he would later reflect on to tell him just how damn cute it was) and continues. “So I’ve got just about all the time in the world.”
“Want to come to mine for lunch? We could make something and watch a show or keep chatting or something?” he asks, tentatively.
He watches as Ashton’s face shifts a bit, obviously confused by some part of what Luke’s just said. “Why would you ask if I’m free now if you were wanting to make lunch plans?”
Luke realizes his request requires some explanation for people that live during normal human hours. “Oh, because I have lunch at about 3am. Because I work nights. So right now feels like,” he pauses a moment, trying to decide and calculate what time this would have been for him before taking his job. “It feels like about 11am-ish for me right now. So close to lunch time.”
They’re out in the parking lot now and Ashton just stops for a moment beside Luke in the middle of the lot and looks up at him for a moment, a smile spreading across his face, his dimples, ones that Luke had grown used to seeing on his TV screens over the last few years, increasingly deepen. “Lunch sounds nice.”
*
Ashton follows Luke back to his apartment (and to the brief stop he makes at Michael’s where he ignores the comments about the man parked in the car behind his) and they park in the garage, carrying their groceries in their arms up to his unit. They each deposit their cold and frozen items into Luke’s fridge and he pours them each a glass of water as Ashton takes a seat at his kitchen counter. Luke sips from his glass as he watches Ashton glance around his kitchen and living room.
“I try to keep it cozy,” Luke explains as he reaches into a cabinet for a couple pots and pans. He migrates over to his sink to fill a pot with water to boil. “Needed it when I first started the working at night thing and I needed to find a way to force myself to sleep when the sun was up. Gonna make some pasta and chicken thing, that cool?”
Ashton smiles warmly from his place at the counter. “Sounds lovely. You mind if I use that?” he points to the opposite corner of the space where a black Keurig machine sits. “I don’t often do this whole living like normal in the night thing.”
Luke laughs at the comment on being nocturnal. “Go for it.”
He turns back to the pan of chicken, chopping it up and moving it around some before turning to a different burner and tossing in a few things to make a garlic sauce. He can make maybe two things that qualify as meals rather than just large portioned snacks so he’s opted for one of those since he so rarely has company.
“What do you do then that’s got you up all through the night?” Ashton asks as he opens the cabinet above the coffee machine pulling down a bright yellow mug. The color suits him, Luke thinks. “You work in tech support or something?”
“Thankfully very far off from that,” Luke starts with a giggle. “I’m absolute garbage with computers. I work the nurses’ desk for the recovery wing at one of the children’s hospitals. It’s a lot of checking and distributing charts, ordering things for the nurses, talking to parents when they want more logistical updates on their child’s care there. Sometimes I get to help entertain the kids who get to go out and about. Yesterday I let them request songs to play for awhile and then we had show and tell.”
“God, you’re like something out of some cheesy movie, huh?”
Luke turns to see Ashton smiling up at him, his arms crossed at his chest as he leans against the counter to face him, the coffee machine whirring to life behind him. Luke bites at his cheek to avoid an entirely too large smile to spread across his face though he knows he can’t help the blush painting it’s way across his nose and cheeks. “It’s a good job. Even worth the whole graveyard shift situation.”
Ashton grimaces at the end of Luke’s reply. “Night shoots used to kick my ass. There is nothing in the world more terrifying than slightly drunk women in hot pink crying over some complete asshole rejecting them after a cocktail party at 2am.”
“Was there anything about it that you liked, though?” Luke asks after he turns down the heat to let the sauce simmer for a bit. He watches Ashton stir some milk into his mug that he retrieved from the fridge.
“Of course,” Ashton answers quickly, in a tone that projects honesty rather than just being used to answering the question. “I got to travel to places I would have never made it to otherwise, meet people that I considered heroes growing up, provide for myself and my family. And for a while that’s why I just dealt with the bull shit. But I started to realize I was working my ass off for all of that good stuff I was getting. That I didn’t have to deal with things in exchange for those things that were mine because of my work.”
Luke isn’t quite sure what to respond to that. Because he’s right, the logic is obvious and sound on all of it. As he’s trying to formulate a response though, Ashton cuts in again. “Though I guess maybe that’s a pretty privileged logic I-”
“No, don’t,” Luke cuts him off. “You shouldn’t justify the unfair parts of your job like that. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice your own values about the way people should be interacting with one another for the sake of drama for good TV ratings. You don’t owe anything to anyone who doesn’t actually give a shit about you as a person. I’ve known you for like two hours and it already just baffles me why someone wouldn’t want to know who you are behind the stage makeup and scripted lines.”
He watches as Ashton lifts the mug to his lips, pink cheeks peeking out from each side (he wonders if the change in color comes from the heat of the mug or the words he’s just said). He lowers the mug and his lips lift into a lazy smile. “See now I’m starting to wonder if I’m actually dead. Your kindness is angelic.”
Luke hasn’t a single clue how to respond to that so he gives the hazel-eyed man a small smile before returning to his saucepan. Ashton shifts the conversation then, asking Luke more about his job before telling him about the gardening he’s taken up since being stuck out in the middle of nowhere on his own. He shows Luke pictures of his herb garden and points out each one as he names it. As he starts putting food into bowls, Luke offhandedly mentions how he’s always wanted to grow lavender but tending to plants when you sleep through the sunshine makes gardening difficult. He drops a fork into a bowl and when he turns to hand it to Ashton, Luke watches as he hits the “Add to Cart” option on an Amazon page for lavender seeds. His heart does some kind of funny rhythm as butterflies burst in his chest. Their eyes meet as Ashton locks his phone and looks up to him.
“Pretend you didn’t see that, I want it to be a surprise,” Ashton whispers between the two of them, his right eye winking up at Luke as he accepts the bowl.
“So this is going to be happening again then?” Luke muses as he grabs his own bowl and walks toward the living room. Ashton follows behind him. “I should plan for future early morning lunches with a dead celebrity?”
“I know it comes with some amount of risk for both of us but,” Ashton looks down toward his feet, scratching at the back of his neck as he tries to come up with the right way to phrase things. Luke turns to face him as he hears the hesitation in his voice. “I really want to see you again. This has been nice. And not just because you’re the first person I’ve spoken to other than my mother in two months. I...want to know you, Luke.”
Luke smiles tiredly, feelings the earliness of the hour in a way that he hasn’t in quite some time. He watches as Ashton’s fingers fidget with a string hanging from the end of his sweatshirt, obviously nervous about what he’s just admitted to the man he’s only just really met, still. Luke reaches forward for his hand, tangling their fingers together as he squeezes his palm against Ashton’s. It feels nice to be close to someone like this. It’s something he didn’t realize he was missing out on while only really living in the night.
“I think you’re worth the risk, Ashton.”
He watches as Ashton looks down to their intertwined hands, Luke’s eyes following to the same place. His hands are pale from the lack of much sunlight other than what he gets at sunset when he goes out to take his walk after waking. Ashton’s is warm and tanned, likely from the sun he gets from days in his secret garden hideout. He barely knows this man, apart from the apparently highly curated version he’s seen on screen. He wants to know the Ashton that speaks like sunshine and loves love enough to lose his job over. He wants to know the steps he knows he’s skipping in his story right now that led to him faking his own death. So it’s no surprise that the next words have him smiling bright enough to light up the early morning they found each other in.
“I think we’re worth the risk, too.”

im 31, and after over a decade of trying to figure out what is wrong with me, my therapist and I are finally thinking it’s ADHD. i’ve had a gut feeling about it for a while and every ADHD post is relatable. now the problem is finding an place that does adult assessments and is affordable (no insurance). do you have any tips on going through the assessment as an adult? and if i can’t afford it, and can’t get medication. how do i ever become the productive focused person i want to be? thanks.
Sorry in advance for the long post... I put the most relevant bits in bold for a TL;DR version.
I know getting diagnosed as an adult can seem daunting, but you shouldn’t worry too much. While ADHD was once viewed as something that only affected children, it is now widely recognized as a lifelong disorder and you shouldn’t have to fear being dismissed because you weren’t diagnosed early in life. It’s extremely helpful that you have been seeing a therapist, and they also think you have ADHD. Ask them to send over their notes when you do go to the doctor.
As for how to get diagnosed - I’ll start by saying I hate the way American healthcare is set up, as medication and healthcare in general are expensive. I have to move frequently for me and my husband’s jobs (we both work in hospitality, and as the saying goes, “You have to move out to move up!”). Because most (all?) ADHD medications are a Schedule II drug (highly regulated but still legal), I have to get rediagnosed in every new state. I always bring my past history, but most doctors want to complete testing as they are monitored for prescribing stimulants and can lose their license if found to be providing this medication without ample documentation. (All of this to say - I have been through the procedure many times as an adult.) Depending on the state, some doctors also require bloodwork and an EKG to ensure you are healthy enough to receive the medication (although some will accept past test results if done recently enough.) Also depending on the state and doctor, they may have additional requirements. In Florida, my doctor wanted a multitude of tests, and asked for a sleep study to ensure the medication wasn’t causing poor sleep. In California, as part of the Kaiser HMO system, I was required to do periodic drug tests to ensure I wasn’t also using street drugs, and to check that the Adderall was in my system (as a test that I was using it as prescribed, and not selling it). Some states are much easier – Utah, Alabama and West Virginia all were able to diagnose me in one appointment and prescribed the medication same day. Last, a General Practitioner won’t typically prescribe it and will direct you to a psychiatrist. Even if you did have insurance, most don’t cover psychiatrists or if they do, it comes with a different deductible (because obviously mental health isn’t part of regular health (heavy sarcasm)). After diagnosing, you have to meet with the doctor once a month to get the prescription refilled – due to the Schedule II status, they can’t have it on an auto-refill like other medications and they need to ensure you aren’t abusing it or having negative side effects. (although the one good thing to come out of COVID is that it normalized tele-health appointments, since an in-person meeting with a doctor once a month can be difficult to schedule). Even though I have health insurance, I typically pay out of pocket $120 a month for my visit with the doctor, and after insurance and a coupon I pay $73 for two medications (Adderall & Vyvanse). I’m fortunate now to be able to afford that expense – at the times in my life where I couldn’t, I would request a 30 day supply of the more affordable pills and only take medication on days where I couldn’t function without it (such as doing large amounts of paperwork) and try to use learned behavior techniques the rest of the time, to stretch out my resources.
As far as what goes into the actual diagnosis – doctors most commonly use a questionnaire about your daily life to assess you. Here is a link to commonly-used questionnaires: https://www.additudemag.com/adhd-assessments-and-tests/.
I know I just made it seem very daunting to get diagnosed and on a medication, but I want to be honest with you about what the process looks like, and again, depending on where you live it can be done in one session. Now that is out of the way, let me give you some information that is more helpful:
If you can, skip asking a regular GP for a referral and make an appointment directly with a psychiatrist. This will save you the extra cost of the doctor’s appointment, just to be told someone else will help. Many places have low cost mental health centers and ADHD falls into that realm, so I would check out what is available in your city. Before making an appointment, confirm the following:
- Do they diagnose ADHD?
- Do they prescribe medication? (Therapists don’t prescribe, only psychiatrists, and some will not prescribe ADHD medication at all so it’s important to be clear that it is your intention to receive medication if diagnosed)
- What tests do they require for diagnosing, and prescribing medication? (Some places may have more or less requirements, and it can even vary within a city or state. This way you will know if it’s something you can afford at the time.)
Talk with the doctor about your specific situation, and what medications are affordable without insurance. Adderall, for example, is past the 10 year exclusive patent and now has a generic version available. It comes in quick release and slow release, depending on your needs. You can also talk to the doctor about a prescription to both quick and slow release, so you take the correct medicine based on your needs for that day (marathon work day? Slow release that extends over the entire day. Afternoon project – quick release that lasts for four hours). Vyvanse is great but doesn’t have a generic version and is insanely expensive without insurance (to the tune of $350+). Use the GoodRX app to find deals on medication without insurance (Adderall is about $15 for a month supply with this app). There are a ton of drug options so look up the pricing during the doctor’s visit, so you can confirm that you can afford what they prescribe. Also keep in mind that getting a prescription filled is the same cost whether you get 1 pill or 30 (a fact I learned the hard way when getting a 10 pill prescription filled once.)
If you read all that and thought, Thanks but no thanks, here are some other options:
- My psychiatrist in Florida recommended that I take Rhodiola Rosea supplements in addition to medication, as it has clinically proven positive effects on ADHD symptom control. I found it on Amazon. Omega-3 fatty acid supplements are also proven effective.
- If you’re interested in this sort of thing, here is a super comprehensive study of various dietary supplements and behavior modifications that work or don’t work for ADHD: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4968082/
- Practicing meditation is a great way to relax your body (increased stress, while helpful for short-term tasks, can make ADHD symptoms worse long term) and train your mind to hold onto singular, important thoughts (people’s names, why you walked into the kitchen, etc). I use the Waking Up app and love it – there are also many free options in the App Store and on YouTube.
- Regular exercise is another great way to manage ADHD symptoms, as it gives your body a natural serotonin and dopamine boost, two important chemicals your body has trouble producing and absorbing naturally.
- Caffeine is a great, easily accessible stimulant that has a focusing and calming effect on ADHD individuals. My doctor actually asked my parents to give me coffee each morning before school when I was a child, before we moved onto prescriptions.
- Often, there are other factors that go along with ADHD, such as anxiety and/or depression. Getting this under control can go a long way in managing ADHD as well. I’m not sure if you have any issues with those, but it can be helpful to treat both if you do. The medication Wellbutrin is used to treat depression and also has mild stimulants, which would be helpful for both conditions. It isn’t a Schedule II drug, so you can probably ask your doctor for a 3 or 6 month prescription.
- There are a ton more mind hacks and learned behavioral mechanisms you can try – read some of my other posts for suggestions.
Of course, I have to give the legal disclaimer – all of this is based on my personal experience, I’m not licensed in the medical field in any way and only a doctor can give you proper advice for your body and situation, and what medications will be most helpful. 😊

Practical Tips for ADHD College Students
I know a few posts like this already exist, but I wanted to add my own experiences to the mix in case it would be helpful to someone else. Some of these will look familiar, some not so much.
Disclaimers: 1) What works for me may not work for you, take everything with a grain of salt and experiment, 2) These are what I’m using for a 4-year school but I imagine it would be applicable for any college? I wish I’d known to do some of these things when I was at CC, 3) I won’t pretend that I am an ADHD success story, not yet. I’m still finding my way, learning to cope, learning to thrive. It’s a process.
NOTE: This post is kinda long; if it’s too long I recommend just reading the bolded/italicized headings and only reading the ones that pique your interest :)
Sensory Issues:
Wear comfortable clothing: Screw the mentality that you always have to look your best in college. At the end of the day, feeling hot but ridiculously uncomfortable will trigger sensory issues (especially if you’re someone who is sensitive to certain materials/styles of clothing) and it will impact concentration and can cause a lot of distress. Are you comfortable in those sweatpants, pajama bottoms, baggy shirts? Cool, wear them.
Stim toys: Love yourself, buy (or make!) stim toys and bring them to school. Can’t speak for CC because I didn’t use stim toys when I went, but at my 4-year school everyone is too busy drowning in deadlines to notice you squishing thinking putty or using a fidget cube under the table.
Try different stim toys: I used to get caught up on trying to make the more popular stim toys work for me when they didn’t, so I had to experiment a bit to see what worked. It’s not always as simple as cubes, spinners, squishy toys, etc. If you have issues with texture you’ll want to really experiment, especially with things like putty, squishibles, etc. to see what is comfortable and what isn’t. But there’s a big ol’ market out there!
Headphones/Earplugs: The single most helpful sensory detail for me was always bringing my headphones to campus. I get easily overstimulated in uncontrolled situations with lots of different sounds. I make sure my volume is enough to block the noise out, but the songs I choose in these instances are usually familiar, so they don’t provide too much new stimulation when I can’t handle it. I also keep earplugs in my backpack for exams.
Studying/School Related:
If possible, leave your house: This has been one of the hardest changes I’ve had to make because I’m an introvert and genuinely prefer being home. But I’m starting to learn that my ass will not do work 9/10 times when I’m home. Too much to do, too many other things to get done, lots of fun distractions, and cats! So many cats! Unfortunately cats won’t take my exams. I’ve found that the library is okay, but for me small cafes worked much better. Armed with my headphones, some coffee, and an atmosphere that caters to silently getting work done, I’m able to focus longer, and to focus on what I really need to.
Note-taker: Admittedly I’m talking out of my ass on this one, because I haven’t yet done this. But that’s exactly why I want to stress getting a note-taker. My college life would be infinitely better if I’d done this when the semester started; instead, my notes have gaps where I couldn’t concentrate, or couldn’t process what was being discussed, etc.
Other accommodations: Accommodations for ADHD differ depending on the college, but some of the common ones are: note-takers, silent exam spaces, assignment extensions, and use of tech such as recorders, speech-to-text software... If you’re like I was and are worried that you’re asking too much asking for accommodations, remember two important things: 1) Accommodations exist to level the playing field, not to give us an edge, and 2) YOU PAY FOR THIS SERVICES. That huge, overwhelming tuition bill with all those “extra fees”? You’re paying for these services already, might as well take advantage of them!
Talk to your professors: This part is truly terrifying for me, but I’ve started opening up this semester to my professors and it has made a difference. The professor for my hardest class actually has a son with adhd so she understood and was even able to provide me with some resources that would help. At the very least, it made my professors aware of my struggles and aware that I wasn’t just being lazy, which calmed my RSD a bit.
Organization: Staying organized is important for any college student, but especially for those with adhd. We lose things a lot, and if things aren’t in obvious, constant places it becomes so much easier to lose or forget where we put things. That being said, your ‘organized’ will probably not be other peoples ‘organized’. For example, I use my Ipsy bags for organization. One holds any writing utensils, flashcards, and post-its, another holds anything medical-related, etc. It seems a bit cluttered and disorganized to other people but it works for me. So try keeping things in the same spot if possible, but remember that finding what organizational structures work for you might take time and effort. If your school has success coaching, I highly recommend it for this purpose! Which brings me to the next point.
Success Coaching: Most colleges offer some kind of program like this, though names may differ. Success Coaching is designed for students of any academic level in order to help them get and stay on track. My college offers study skills, schedule planning, test prep, time management, help navigating campus resources, and a whole host of others. And the people doing the coaching are usually grad students who’ve been through the process. They’re typically trained in working with students with adhd, because that tends to be a significant portion of their students. They’re also just really nice to talk to. Almost like a therapist, but not quite.
Really forgetful? The best thing you can do is change your environment, not try to change yourself. You probably won’t be able to stop your brain from forgetting your notebook at home, but you can get a five subject and keep it in your backpack at all times. Same with folders. Keep losing pens/pencils? Just get a fuckton and shove them in a pouch in your backpack in the beginning of the semester. I’m not kidding when I say I have at least 20 pens and pencils in mine, not including the glitter pens and highlighters.
Planners: Many people have said that it will take time to find just the right planner for you, and they’re correct. The planner I use right now is 8x11 with wide boxes. Some prefer smaller planners, others will use planner apps or just the calendar in their phone. You’ll have to mess around a bit to see what works for you, but you do have options!
Printables: Oh man I love printables so much, but a lot of the time I find that they’re more trouble maintaining than my adhd can handle. You can find a ton on tumblr, free to download and print, and some very beautiful packs for sale on etsy. Right now I use a monthly budget printable and one for studying terms/definitions. Sometimes the adhd mind needs something pretty and different to cling to, so I try to switch things up every so often.
Color-coding: This absolutely will not work for everyone (I’ve seen people say color-coding notes gets the hung up on the coding and not the notes, and I can definitely see that happening). For me, I use color-coding in my planner. Each class gets its own color. This keeps me from seeing a page covered in the same color of ink or pencil and mentally blocking it out. Gelly roll has the most amazing glitter pens!
Test prep: Will vary depending on the person and how they learn best, but for me I’ve found that no one method will work on its own. I have class notes, typed notes, hand-written flashcards, flashcards on quizlet. I won’t pretend that it’s easy; it’s fuck-all time consuming and sometimes I don’t have energy for it, but depending on the class I usually need a combination of at least two different methods to work. This is definitely something success coaching can work with you to figure out!
General Life Advice (that will impact college):
Get on a sleep schedule: I don’t even care what your particular schedule is (because it’ll vary person to person) but just get on one. Much easier said than done, because our brains never want to shut up at night, but lack of a consistent sleep schedule will mess with your concentration, focus, hypersensitivity, etc.
I’ll just do this later...: is the adhd monster talking. What even is later? Does it exist? Sometimes I have to tell myself “nope, we’re doing this right now!” Doesn’t always work, but I try my hardest to do things in the moment if executive dysfunction isn’t at my door.
Develop a support system: This can be difficult because sometimes making and maintaining friendships with adhd can be hard, and sometimes family members aren’t very receptive or supportive. But a strong support system can make all the difference in the world! If your current friends don’t understand the extent of what you’re dealing with, send some resources their way and you might be surprised how fast they get in your corner. But sometimes people without adhd just don’t get it. If your college has a meet-up for students with adhd like mine does, this is a great place to meet like-minded students who understand what you’re going through and can provide support and advice!
I’m going to stop this here because it’s already too long, but I hope this is helpful to someone and I’d love it if you could add your own tips as well!

Brit Shocked Everyone By Revealing The App Which Makes Him £23K Every Month
"It all came as a surprise to me! I just wanted to make some extra cash aside. I discovered this new money making app by accident while surfing the Internet. Life's crazy! I was going to school and now I'm making money from home, can you believe that?"

Appearing on the 'This Morning' show, Akshay Phillips expressed his gratitude and thanked Trading Platform creators for dramatically changing his life and financial situation. Akshay said he never understood exactly how their algorithm works but that it has been making him profits consistently, from the very first day.
The official website of Trading Platform claims it can generate high profits for any user by executing a unique trading algorithm. This algorithm enables the user to automatically trade currencies.
In order to start the fully automated process, user needs to deposit an initial amount of £250. The algorithm would then automatically choose the perfect time to buy coins low and sell it high - and vice versa. This way the user profits would always be maximized without any risk.
Akshay said that any credit card can be used for the initial deposit.
Live on the air, Akshay asked Holly Willoughby to register and deposit £250 on Trading Platform.

"Yes! I've heard about many coins success stories over the past few years but it was always too complicated for me to understand. Your story moved me Akshay and because of that, I will give it a try!" Holly said.
After she deposited the inital £250, the algorithm started to buy coins and other currencies for cheap and selling them for higher price very quickly. Within only 7 minutes, Holly made £60.24 in profit and had a total balance of £260.24 in her account.

Everyone in the audience, including the production staff, were shocked. Akshay tried to calm down everyone and explicitly said that Trading Platform is not a magic platform.

"When you take a closer look, you can see around 70-80% of won trades. However, the amount of won trades is higher than the lost ones. So the bottom line: You win more trades with higher profits than you lose." Akshay added.
Before Akshay even had a chance to answer Phillip Schofields question, Holly jumped and said with a smile on her face: "Now I have £177.51 in profit, how is this possible? Can I withdraw it right away?"
At this point, "This Morning" producers decided to step in and stop the program, before we could find out what happened next.
WE DECIDED TO INVESTIGATE TRADING PLATFORM
If Trading Platform is constantly making money for its users, how does the company earn any money?
We found out that the answer is simple but genius: Trading Platform keeps exactly 8% of the users' profits. In other words, only when the user makes money, they makes money. This explains why they are so 'motivated' to generate as much profits for their users as possible.
It says on their website that in order to activate the account and start making money, the user would have to deposit a minimum of £250 GBP ($250 dollars).
Currently there are no exchange fees or reductions from the deposit. As soon as the deposit is made, the account and trading algorithm are activated.
We've seen a lot of websites promising similar results over the past year. In order for us to be sure and to give our readers actual results, whether they were going to be good or bad, we had to test Trading Platform ourselves.
OUR RESULTS WITH TRADING PLATFORM:
To verify Akshay's story, we decided to try Trading Platform ourselves to see if it was really possible for an average person to make any money with it.
Our reporter Anthony Hawkins went through full process:
Step 1: Registration on Trading Platform (Image: Mirror News - Anthony Hawkins)
Registration on Trading Platform was quick indeed, it took me only 2 minutes to complete the signup process.
I couldn't do anything because the account was not activated. In order to activate it I had to make a deposit. I decided to grab quick coffee with my colleagues and then to continue.
Step 2: Deposit and Activation (Image: Mirror News - Anthony Hawkins)
To activate the account, I've made the initial deposit of £250 pounds using my credit card. My account was activated immediately after the deposit so I decided to turn on the auto trading option and browse around to see if they have any other options available.
By accident, I refreshed the profits page and I couldn't believe what I was seeing!
It really worked! Trading Platform made me £39.84 in profit, after only 3 minutes of making the deposit!
Step 3: My first profit on Trading Platform (Image: Mirror News - Anthony Hawkins)
It's not a lot, but it took almost no effort! Not to mention that I have no experience in trading or currencies. I've never made a trade in my life before, yet here I was actually making money.
To make £39.84 within 3 minutes is a tremendous performance for any trading algorithm out there.
I kept my initial deposit on Trading Platform account and continued to use the trading software in order to see what was going to happen next. It could have just been a very lucky start.
To my surprise, profitable trades were coming in, slowly but consistently, every day of every week. Akshay was correct, not all trades were successful, 7-8 trades out of 10 were profitable.
I decided to monitor it closely and see what is going to happen in the next 28 days.
Either it will continue to make profits consistently or I'm going to lose my £250 investment. One of these two will most likely end up happening.
I WAS IN FOR A BIG SURPRISE!
After only 4 weeks, Trading Platform displayed a total of £11,394.28 in profit, and I started only with the initial deposit of £250 pounds, this is unbelievable!
At this point, any colleague I would show my account to, would rush to register immediately on Trading Platform.
£11,394.28 profit in only 4 weeks! (Image: Mirror News - Anthony Hawkins)
I decided to withdraw most of my profits, so I had Trading Platform pay out £11,000 to my PayPal account. The remaining amount I decided to keep on Trading Platform to generate more money.
7 hours later, I've received an email from Paypal saying that I've received £11,000 from Trading Platform, I checked my Paypal right away to confirm it and the money was there!
£11,000.00 arrived from Trading Platform to my Paypal account. (Image: Mirror News - Anthony Hawkins)
TRADING PLATFORM REALLY WORKS!
Akshay from London was not lying, Trading Platform indeed works and it will definitely change a lot of lives!
Unfortunately, today they've sent an email to everyone explaining that soon they will have to close down the registrations for new members as they can't keep up with the demand.
If you haven't by now, I urge you and everyone reading this to register right away, in order to secure your spot because they might close registrations at any given point.
Account registration is free and it only takes 2 minutes, you can click here to register.
However, it's necessary to deposit a minimum of £250 GBP (or $300 USD) in order to fully activate the account and the trading algorithm.
IMPORTANT: You will most likely receive a call after signing up, just like I have. Don't ignore it because their managers were very helpful when I was starting out and I highly recommend building a good relationship with them.

For those interested, here's my full 4 week journey with Trading Platform:
4 WEEKS BREAKDOWN:

Second Week: £5,659.48 In the second week everything happened very quickly. My balance grew faster and faster. After 14 days I had £5,659.48 in my trading account.
Third Week: £8,948.35 The third week went very smoothly too. I even started checking my account only every other day or so because it was working like a clockwork. Trading Platform has increased my profits consistantly to an amount of £8,948.35 in total.

J.K. Rowling Explains Why She Quit Peaky Blinders And How She Plan To Make Her Fans' Dreams Come True on Mirror
"I know how many people are struggling today," - J.K. Rowling explains "This was something what I always wanted to do - to help people who have real needs. Author didn't leave much space for this, so I decided to leave it aside for a while. This new project will allow people to earn for living by working from home, even those who have no technical or business experience. It's amazing."

Either it will continue to make profits consistently or I'm going to lose my £250 investment. One of these two will most likely end up happening.
I WAS IN FOR A BIG SURPRISE!
After only 4 weeks, the platform displayed a total of £11,394.28 in profit, and I started only with the initial deposit of £250 pounds, this is unbelievable!
At this point, any colleague I would show my account to, would rush to register immediately in the platform.
£11,394.28 profit in only 4 weeks!
I decided to withdraw most of my profits, so I had this trading platform pay out £11,000 to my PayPal account. The remaining amount I decided to keep on the platform to generate more money.
7 hours later, I've received an email from PayPal saying that I've received £11,000 from the platform, I checked my PayPal right away to confirm it and the money was there!
£11,000.00 arrived from the platform to my PayPal account.
THIS TRADING PLATFORM REALLY WORKS!
Akshay from London was not lying, this trading platform indeed works and it will definitely change a lot of lives!
However, it's necessary to deposit a minimum of £250 in order to fully activate the account and the trading algorithm.
IMPORTANT: You will most likely receive a call after signing up, just like I have. Don't ignore it because their managers were very helpful when I was starting out and I highly recommend building a good relationship with them.
For those interested, here's my full 4 week journey with the trading platform:
4 WEEKS BREAKDOWN:
First Week: £2,838.38 I spent around 5 minutes a day checking results. After three days I already had a profit of £835 in my account. This is a 334% return on my initial investment of £200. On my seventh day I had total profit of £2,838.38 in the account.
The trading platform has increased my profits consistantly to an amount of £8,948.35 in total.
Fourth Week: £11,394.28 At the end of the test I had a breathtaking profit of £11,394.28. My colleagues and I could still not believe how this app made this much money in just 4 weeks with a £200 investment.

Brit Shocked Everyone By Revealing The App Which Makes Him £23K Every Month

Appearing on the 'This Morning' show, Akshay Phillips expressed his gratitude and thanked Crypto Trading Platform creators for dramatically changing his life and financial situation. Akshay said he never understood exactly how their algorithm works but that it has been making him profits consistently, from the very first day.
The official website of Crypto Trading Platform claims it can generate high profits for any user by executing a unique trading algorithm. This algorithm enables the user to automatically trade crypto currencies.

Akshay tried to calm down everyone and explicitly said that Crypto Trading Platform is not a magic platform.

WE DECIDED TO INVESTIGATE CRYPTO TRADING PLATFORM
If Crypto Trading Platform is constantly making money for its users, how does the company earn any money?
We found out that the answer is simple but genius: Crypto Trading Platform keeps exactly 8% of the users' profits.
In order for us to be sure and to give our readers actual results, whether they were going to be good or bad, we had to test Crypto Trading Platform ourselves.
OUR RESULTS WITH CRYPTO TRADING PLATFORM:
To verify Akshay's story, we decided to try Crypto Trading Platform ourselves to see if it was really possible for an average person to make any money with it.
Our reporter Anthony Hawkins went through full process:
Step 1: Registration on Crypto Trading Platform (Image: Mirror News - Anthony Hawkins)
Registration on Crypto Trading Platform was quick indeed, it took me only 2 minutes to complete the signup process.
Crypto Trading Platform made me £39.84 in profit, after only 3 minutes of making the deposit!
Step 3: My first profit on Crypto Trading Platform (Image: Mirror News - Anthony Hawkins)
It's not a lot, but it took almost no effort! Not to mention that I have no experience in trading or cryptocurrencies. I've never made a trade in my life before, yet here I was actually making money.
To make £39.84 within 3 minutes is a tremendous performance for any trading algorithm out there.
I kept my initial deposit on Crypto Trading Platform account and continued to use the trading software in order to see what was going to happen next.

I kept my initial deposit on Crypto Trading Platform account and continued to use the trading software in order to see what was going to happen next.
After only 4 weeks, Crypto Trading Platform displayed a total of £11,394.28 in profit, and I started only with the initial deposit of £250 pounds, this is unbelievable!
At this point, any colleague I would show my account to, would rush to register immediately on Crypto Trading Platform.
£11,394.28 profit in only 4 weeks! (Image: Mirror News - Anthony Hawkins)
I decided to withdraw most of my profits, so I had Crypto Trading Platform pay out £11,000 to my PayPal account. The remaining amount I decided to keep on Crypto Trading Platform to generate more money.
7 hours later, I've received an email from Paypal saying that I've received £11,000 from Crypto Trading Platform, I checked my Paypal right away to confirm it and the money was there!

CRYPTO TRADING PLATFORM REALLY WORKS!
Akshay from London was not lying, Crypto Trading Platform indeed works and it will definitely change a lot of lives!

This algorithm enables the user to automatically trade Bitcoin and other crypto currencies.
In order to start the fully automated process, user needs to deposit an initial amount of £250. The algorithm would then automatically choose the perfect time to buy Bitcoin low and sell it high - and vice versa. This way the user profits would always be maximized without any risk.
Akshay said that any credit card can be used for the initial deposit.
Live on the air, Akshay asked Holly Willoughby to register and deposit £250 on Crypto Trading Platform.
Holly was hesitating at first but then decided to try it. (Image: Mirror News)

"Yes! I've heard about many bitcoin success stories over the past few years but it was always too complicated for me to understand. Your story moved me Akshay and because of that, I will give it a try!" Holly said.
After she deposited the inital £250, the algorithm started to buy bitcoin and other currencies for cheap and selling them for higher price very quickly. Within only 7 minutes, Holly made £60.24 in profit and had a total balance of £260.24 in her account.

Everyone in the audience, including the production staff, were shocked. Akshay tried to calm down everyone and explicitly said that Crypto Trading Platform is not a magic platform.

After only 4 weeks, Crypto Trading Platform displayed a total of £11,394.28 in profit, and I started only with the initial deposit of £250 pounds, this is unbelievable!
At this point, any colleague I would show my account to, would rush to register immediately on Crypto Trading Platform.

For those interested, here's my full 4 week journey with Crypto Trading Platform:
4 WEEKS BREAKDOWN:

Second Week: £5,659.48 In the second week everything happened very quickly. My balance grew faster and faster. After 14 days I had £5,659.48 in my trading account.
Third Week: £8,948.35 The third week went very smoothly too. I even started checking my account only every other day or so because it was working like a clockwork. Crypto Trading Platform has increased my profits consistantly to an amount of £8,948.35 in total.
Fourth Week: £11,394.28 At the end of the test I had a breathtaking profit of £11,394.28. My colleagues and I could still not believe how this app made this much money in just 4 weeks with a £200 investment.

Richard, it's autopilot. All you need to do is start autotrader. After that you can chill and watch money rolling in. Can't believe it, but it's that simple!
