Ancient Love Poetry (2021) - Final Review
Tumblr media
Honestly, what’s there to say? I can’t think of anything bad to say about the drama. I really enjoyed this, which is a first for me since I usually like to nitpick. I think I wrote most of my complaints in my first impressions review of the first three episodes, and some of those criticisms still stand, like how some of Xu Kai’s emotional scenes could have been better, which would have made the angst punchier and more impactful, but the story as a whole was quite solid if you manage to get past the first three episodes.
All the characters got closure or got what they deserved, and so the audience also gets closure and the answers we needed. Characters were consistent and any character development that happened was logical. I loved Tian Qi’s maturation arc. Shang gu’s growth felt natural. One problem I tend to have with xianxia dramas is that the FL’s growth is sometimes too abrupt. I remember I had some issues with Ling Xi’s growth in Love and Destiny. But Shang gu’s growth felt a bit more earned and gradual. She goes through so many changes, but it never felt out of character. She goes from being a spoiled and bratty heir to being the leader of the four realms to reincarnating into quiet, unconfident, and weak deity to learning about the truth of her identity and her past to becoming a wife and then a mother, and then losing her memories and becoming the leader of the four realms again. All the transitions flowed well. The pacing of the plot was good and I didn’t feel compelled to skip scenes. The effects were good and the world building felt refreshing. It’s a really cohesive story and everything came full circle in the end.
After watching so many xianxia dramas though, the ending was predictable. You knew that Bai Jue was going to come back after his sacrifice and that the Shang gu would have to wait for him for years, and so while the reunion was nice, it was also kind of meh because you knew it was coming. But still, I couldn’t help but smile at the final scene. That’s pretty much the standard xianxia ending. I guess my question is that why do the FLs in xianxia dramas tend to leave their kid for their brothers and uncles to raise? Bai Qian did the same thing in Eternal Love. I don’t have anything against that, since I understand that they think their brothers/uncles would be better parental figures, but I just figured they might want to spend more time with their kid from whom they’ve been separated from for hundreds of years.
Bai Jue made some questionable decisions (like him taking away her memory again in episode 43), but he was still forgivable and redeemable. He suffers from the same martyr complex as all “ideal” xianxia male leads, but that’s pretty much what you sign up for and expect when you choose to watch a xianxia romance. I’ll give this an 8.5/10. I think what’s preventing me from giving it a 9 is that even though the chemistry improved as the drama went on, there was still something missing between them that prevented me from going all in. But actors aside, Bai Jue and Shang gu have a really touching story that probably would have torn me apart (in both sweetness and angst) if I were 5 years younger and watched less xianxia.

July Forecast for Scorpio
The pace is picking up again, Scorpio! If you’ve felt stuck in a bit of a holding pattern for the last couple of months, you’ll be happy to hear that’s about to change. Get ready to say “out with the old, in with the new” in a big way. Shake off any frustration or pessimism and focus on what’s ahead: an unscripted and exciting adventure. You’ll feel it palpably for the first three weeks of the month as the Sun roars through Cancer and your expansive ninth house, heating up travel, study and entrepreneurial plans, along with your insatiable curiosity.
This optimistic and can-do solar cycle has you percolating with grand ideas, all the more because one of this summer’s three scene-stealing eclipses lands in Cancer on July 12, rocketing you into unchartered territory. (More on that in a minute.) If you’ve been keeping a low profile or wondering whether to take a leap of faith, you might be ready to jump by mid-month.
Another huge boost for this arrives on July 10, when Jupiter, the planet of growth, adventure and long-distance connections, ends a four-month retrograde in YOUR sign. Prepare for liftoff! Scorpios who’ve felt restless energy, chaos or stalled plans since March 8 will love the restored momentum. And trust us, you do NOT want to squander it. Jupiter only comes to your sign every 12 years, and it’s in Scorpio from October 10, 2017, until November 8, 2018. The next four months are full speed ahead on your reinvention tour.
Since last fall, Jupiter’s been kicking off a fresh decade-plus chapter of your life. If things have felt new yet disorienting, that’s normal. You’re in totally unfamiliar territory here and might be a little out of control—NOT a Scorpio’s favorite sensation. The retrograde slowdown gave you a chance to process all this novelty, which may have shocked your delicate system.
Pack a spare parachute anyway, because five planets will be retrograde throughout the month. In addition to Jupiter, energizer Mars is retrograde in Aquarius and your domestic zone, causing family friction or stress around your living situation. Saturn and Pluto are reversing through Capricorn and your communication house, which could ramp up tension or weird power dynamics, as people may be talking out of both sides of their mouth. And foggy Neptune is retrograde in Pisces and your passionate fifth house, amping up the drama in your love life and bringing a need for more clarity. Since these retrogrades are strongly impacting your interpersonal relations, take the time to REALLY think about what you want—or even to set a single intention—before launching into discussions. Otherwise, you’ll end up in circular conversations, especially at the end of the month, when interactive Mercury joins the retrograde brigade.
Two days after Jupiter turns direct (forward), the aforementioned Cancer partial solar (new moon) eclipse activates your ninth house of expansion and broader perspectives. Eclipses sweep in four to six times a year, removing anything that’s past its expiration date and flinging open the doors for a fresh start. Solar eclipses mark bold beginnings and can set us on a whole new (and unexpected) path. This one is the first in a series on the Cancer/Capricorn axis that will continue through July 2020, bringing exciting developments to your communication sectors. Writing, teaching, learning, traveling and publishing could become priority items. You may get involved in your community, move to a new neighborhood or connect to another part of the world through work, personal interest or even a relocation.
This is the only eclipse from this group in 2018, and it’s just a sneak preview of changes that will really take flight in 2019. Still, it will be an intense start! On July 12, the Sun and new moon are exactly opposite your celestial co-ruler, power monger Pluto, which is in Capricorn and your third house of communication and community. Keep some of those exciting plans under wraps, even if you want to crow it from the rooftops. A sibling, colleague or friend could be surprisingly unsupportive, perhaps because they feel jealous or threatened by your success. If you’re planning to spring a big change on anyone, do it gently—or wait until everything is fully confirmed. The unexpected shade could take the wind out of your sails, making you second-guess an awesome idea before you give it a fighting chance. Don’t let any seeds of doubt take root, Scorpio!
At this outspoken eclipse, you may serve up some long-overdue truth serum by having an honest but necessary conversation. Choose your words carefully and try not to take anyone’s intense reactions to heart. And remember, if you’re gonna dish it out, you have to be prepared to take it. Pluto rules the unconscious, so before you go reading someone the riot act, make sure you’re not projecting your own stuff onto them.
Whew! There’s so much energy swirling around and so many ideas percolating that you can barely sit still. You can begin to put some of those blue-sky visions into a structure on July 22, when the Sun commences its month-long visit to Leo and your tenth house of ambition, goals and professional success. The energy will become more focused now, helping you plan and refine—to sort the best of your creative “crops” and select the keepers. Work could get busy and demanding, and the stars align for some power moves. While everyone else is checked out in summer-vacation mode, sidle up to the decision makers and score some brownie points.
But do it fast, because from July 26 to August 19, Mercury, the planet of communication, technology and travel, will be retrograde in Leo, which can scramble signals and cause technological mayhem, especially at work. Clients and bosses may be royal pains, changing their minds or delaying decisions with bureaucracy. If you’re thinking of investing in a new laptop, phone, printer or email or website host, wait until after the retrograde. If you can’t, spend the few extra bucks for the insurance and full warranty. Back up all your files and always review before hitting “send” or “publish.”
Retrogrades ARE favorable for connecting with your past, so if you’re job-hunting, talk to an old boss or client who could have valuable leads, if not an actual position to offer. Since the tenth house rules your public image, this is a great time to work on a branding refresh—just unveil it in September or October, when retrograde high season has passed.
The next day brings even more intensity because on July 27, a total lunar (full moon) eclipse in Aquarius will shake up your fourth house of home, family and emotional foundations. Just as you’re trying to hit some curveballs at work, this topsy-turvy eclipse brings some changes to your domestic life. Lunar eclipses can demand more adjustment than solar ones since full moons mark transitions and turning points. This one could bring a change to your living situation, a move or real estate move, or an important resolution involving a female relative (possibly your mom).
With family in the focus of this eclipse, you might get news of a pregnancy or need to deal with a parenting issue. Since the eclipse is traveling in close proximity to aggravator Mars, there can be no more sweeping some part of your personal life under the rug. No decision will ever be “perfect,” Scorpio, so get off the fence and make a move—or prepare to have the eclipse decide it for you. For example, if you’ve been looking at home after home, you could miss the boat, and a place you really like gets scooped up by someone else. A roommate might make a sudden exit, or you could decide it’s time to implement some new house rules—and to carve out some sacred space for yourself.
This is the final Aquarius eclipse in a series that’s been touching down on the Leo/Aquarius axis since February 2017, resetting your work-life balance and bringing big changes to both your personal and professional lives. Look back to the prior two Aquarius eclipses on August 7, 2017, and February 15, 2018, for clues of what might fully come together now. There will be one last Leo eclipse on January 21, 2019, which could bring a major professional change or upgrade. Between now and then, continue implementing bold changes that align with Scorpio 2.0. Cue the Diana Ross: You’re coming out!
Love & Romance
Your co-ruler, feisty Mars, is retrograde in Aquarius and your most personal sector all month, churning up strong feelings and making you more sensitive than usual. Family stress could have a direct effect on your relationship, which doesn’t help when you’re already feeling thin-skinned. Stay vigilant, so that you don’t project old baggage on each other. And if you DO slip, catch yourself before something regrettable is said or done. With tension-inducing Mars gone awry, you may feel “cramped” by your partner—emotionally or physically—regardless of whether you live together or not. Scorpios who’ve been considering getting pregnant or moving (especially into a cohabitation sitch) could have second thoughts about it now. These are things you DON’T want to rush or be pressured into!
On the flip side of your chart, Venus is in Leo and your goal-driven tenth house until July 9, helping you focus on the big picture and long-range plans. When you’re not busy at evening work events and cocktail mixers, this is a stellar time to dress up and do anything that will get you out of the house. Single Scorpios might meet a very eligible prospect at a work-related party or conference. Just another reason to dress to impress!
On July 9, Venus swings into Virgo and your festive eleventh house, fueling your desire to go out more and hang with friends who know how to have fun and keep things light. A great way to escape emotional drama and intensity is by surrounding yourself with upbeat, interesting people. Since the eleventh house also rules social activism and community service, you’ll gain a deep sense of satisfaction donating time to helping people in need. Bonus points for attached Scorpios if you do it as a couple. Single? This is another awesome way to meet someone you could not only be attracted to but whose values you share and whose ethics you admire.
Throughout the month, Venus will form flowing trines to innovative Uranus (July 11), structured Saturn (July 14) and transformational Pluto (July 27) in your “people” houses. Sparks could fly while out mingling, or you might actually have luck meeting a “keeper” online. You may have to make the first move, but hey, why not?
Key Dates
July 24: Venus-Neptune Opposition You might think you’re playing it cool by holding back in a relationship, but in reality, all you’re doing is increasing someone’s insecurities. If you want the drama to die down, stop playing games and reveal your genuine feelings.
Money & Career
Go big, Scorpio! The energy for the first three weeks of July is #nolimits, and your dreams get major star-powered support. Lucky Jupiter zooms full speed ahead through Scorpio starting July 10, taking your solo projects from dial-up to broadband speed until November 8. The Sun will be swirling through Cancer and your visionary ninth house until July 22, but this lucky and enterprising zone really gets a lift at the July 12 Cancer solar eclipse. It could bring a grand opportunity to teach, travel, share your ideas through major media or spearhead a bold project that unites different groups of people. Start thinking outside the box in a bottomless way, Scorpio, because this is a sneak preview of a new eclipse series on the Cancer/Capricorn continuum that can make you a major influencer between now and July 2020. Do some vocal warm-up exercises; yours could be the voice that everyone listens to!
Your annual professional high season arrives on July 22, when the Sun enters Leo and your tenth house of career until August 23. Unfortunately, you’ll have to bob and weave your way through Mercury’s retrograde in Leo from July 26 to August 19, which could feel like two steps forward, one step back. Continue forging ahead, even if you face delays or red tape. Take special care to save any important documents to the cloud (plus a couple additional backup devices). Since retrogrades are great times for tweaking and revising, you might spend this cycle polishing your resume with a recruiter, working with a business coach or putting the finishing touches on a major proposal.
Key Dates
July 9: Mercury-Jupiter Square You’ve crafted some big plans, and now you want to scrap them all! Your master strategy, brilliant as it is, feels confining. Loosen up so you don’t crush your spirit. With expansive Jupiter in your sign, you need space to grow and experiment. Make sure there’s enough wiggle room for that.

All That Remains: Overcome
Tumblr media
Hello everyone! back from another busy break and are back to scratch another anniversary album off of the list. This album turns ten years old this year and is definitely one of the band’s most well known works. I could also say that it is the beginning stage of their transition into a more mainstream centric direction. As with future releases it still has a very heavy edge of course but on this album is where you start to see songs that actually had easy playing potential on the radio. This will be a good one to get off of the list today and is one of the picks that i made a note to try get done before the end of the year. I still have plenty of those albums to get to you while still trying to toss in a few new albums here and there so i haven’t ran out of material to review yet lol. Let’s get started!
Before the Damned: We start this album off with a rather tense drum opening that is sure to be a good concert opener for anybody that wants to start the aggression right away. The guitar riffs are very enjoyable and have a nice rhythm and melodic balance to get you going. Phil’s growl vocals make a nice entry that while not very coherent help to push the song nicely before the chorus arrives. The chorus is a very clean and displays a nice degree of power to keep the song changing up. Because of the muffled but enjoyable growls the lyrics likely won’t stand out on this one but it should still make for an enjoyable album opener for a first time listen. I definitely like how the growls are well balanced and textured; while the guitars provide plenty of melodically technical riffs to spice things up. 8.5/10
Two Weeks (Single): Now this was a big single for the album and starts off quick with an energizing yet simple guitar/drum opening. Music video is awesome and worth a view by the way. Phil arrives with a middle range delivery that isn’t quite clean but isn’t his usual growl style either. The chorus is much more coherent and the lyrics manage to stick out rather nicely in the song. This will help the listener to have some extra substance to ponder over while the song progresses. This one does pretty good live and definitely showcases their transition towards a more mainstream approach. Personally i think its a good move with this song since it will surely gain traction on rock stations and attract a more diverse audience due to its balanced vocals, pounding drums, and complex guitar instrumentals. 9/10
Undone: This tracks begins with more of that aggressive drum bashing and Phil arrives with a very powerful growl before shifting between clean melodies and harsh but effective screams. The chorus has a nice sense of drive and life which will help to make the song stick out a little extra to the listener. The instrumentals do a solid job of keeping the atmosphere full of melody, aggression, energy, and clear complexity; but most importantly; BALANCE. So far despite the complexity things seem just simple enough to keep the listener from feeling overwhelmed and needing a break; especially after being only three tracks in. 8.5/10
Forever In Your Hands (Single): This next single begins with a more relaxed melodic build up and takes its time and building the ambition in the listener. It will definitely be a decent workout song and Phil’s verses come by with a very nice sense of substance. The vocals have power but emotional vulnerability that will be very pleasing for a mainstream audience to sink into. The live potential is very easy and makes this a relatively safe but highly effective choice for a single that certainly broke new ground in the band’s sound in this album. 10/10
Chiron (Single): This final single is a personal favorite of mine from the band and is easily one of the heaviest on the album. It begins with a thematic guitar riff and pounding drum beats that really help the drummer to stick out on the album. Phil arrives with a energetically powerful growl style that will do wonders at getting a live audience up an moving. The instrumentals do well to provide the vocals with a strong lifeline to progress and should make it easy for the listener to remain energized as they progress into the second half of the album. The band brings in some melodic acoustic riffs towards the end that are very soothing and bring forth a nice transition element before the instrumentals gradually begin to infuse the song with a quick dose of melodic rush before closing out smoothly. 10/10
Days Without: This track starts off smoothly with a medium speed (for them) of melodic riffs before the drums begin bashing heavily and Phil pours forth a high degree of hard growl verses to keep the album’s momentum going. The drums definitely really stick out on this song and serve as a solid companion element to the vocals and would be a very pleasant element to see being done live. I could see single potential for this one due to its smoothness and continued balance that really helps this album to stand out as one of All That Remains’s strongest albums. 9/10
A Song for the Hopeless: Acoustic melodies begin this song off on a soothing note that will help the listener to refresh themselves a bit. Phil arrives with a soothing vocal melody that meshes with the song’s atmosphere rather blissfully before shifting into some fitting growl verses. The transition is actually pretty decent and enables the song to pull off a decent surprise for the listener to encounter. The lyrics may not be a strong focal point in the song; which is a typical case for All That Remains but flow-wise the song certainly takes risk that will stand up as either some of the best or worst in the band. For me this is one of the weaker songs personally but definitely is one that you respect for the elements that they dabble in on here. It shows a willingness to grow in the band and will help to keep them from putting the same thing out every year like other band’s i’ve reviewed in the past. 7/10
Do Not Obey: This one begins a bit too familiar to past songs so that initial rush of excitement may be missing on here but the growls do provide some intensity to enjoy while backing clean harmonies help to add some extra dynamics into the song. The growls and guitars do manage to develop a rather pleasant rhythm as it progresses and will certainly help to strengthen that song up so that it can be a stronger live pick for the band. Other than that; it’s one that may not stick out on its own but will contain substance to be a decent pick on shuffle and the clean verses do have a nicer sense of strength to them as well. 8/10
Relinquish: A single aggressive growl shows up nicely before the instrumentals provide a lower aggressive push to help the song obtain a nice sense of uniqueness. It is definitely a more rhythm oriented song but still retains a high degree of melodic speed in the transitions. The growls are definitely a good highlight that make this song just a bit stronger than the last one and as a result; a stronger choice for a live performance as well. It should also help to bring back interest in the listener in case the last two songs appeared to be a little stale in comparison to the previous ones. 8.5/10
Overcome: Growls start this one off very quick while the instrumentals retain a lower tone. The clean verses during the chorus are a smooth transition point that should provide the listener with plenty of substance to help shape this song up as decent middle ground tune for the album. The melodic instrumentals are definitely solid even if they are beginning to get typical by this point in the album. At least on this song they spend more time building a sense of climatic energy in them. It would be a standard safe pick for a live performance i think; so it has easy purpose. 8/10
Believe In Nothing (Nevermore Cover): This cover finale track begins with a very melodic foundation that is sure to bring up a very pleasing sense of emotional turmoil into the listener. The vocals take on a very unique tone that is surely fitting for what the album needs in a closing song to make the listener satisfied. The lyrics are a bit easier to follow and will bring some additional substance as a result. I definitely have to give them credit for picking this one as a single because its another potentially risky move that seems to work out rather well for them and showcase a growing sense of skill and diversity in the band that they’ve been able to build on since. 8.5/10
Overall album rating: 8.6/10
Well this one one took the top score for my All That Remains reviews beating The Order of Things by a margin of .1 This was a pretty good album from the band; it’s complex but balanced enough to feel simple at times yet fluid. It’s definitely an album that i recommend checking out sometime if you are looking for something a bit older that may have slipped through the cracks with you. I gotta be brief and head out now for a busy day so enjoy your long weekend everyone!

Instagram's Jelly Cake Revival Turns Vintage Camp Into Modern Art
Jelly first came to Lexie Park in a dream. In her over-10-year career as a fashion designer, Park felt a pull toward texture and transparency, and as she’s transitioned into food over the past year, those qualities drew her to jelly. She wondered what she could suspend and preserve inside a translucent, wobbling mass.
Now, Park has become one of Instagram's most iconic jelly artists. Through Nunchi, which she has developed into a full-time food business, she makes colorful, glassy-looking cakes that her followers fawn over for their pastel hues and glints of sparkle. Often, they have alternating layers of cloudy and clear confection, or pieces of fruit, jelly flowers, and even cartoon bunny heads floating inside. "I feel like [it's] psycho but cute," said Park, of the aesthetic that has earned her collaborations with brands like Nike (a swoosh floating atop tiers of baby pink and blue jelly) and the razor company Billie.

Not all of Park's work is so dainty. "When I first started, all my previous cakes and posts were a little bit crazier and uglier, in a sense," she said. Her cakes for commissions are primarily cute, but her more experimental jellies have an edge: a fish sliced into four pieces drifts in a jelly aquarium; Pedialyte forms caviar spheres, served in a tin; blobs surround a skin-colored baby, as though it's gestating in an alien womb. "I'm very extreme in my personality, so I don't want to just stick to one [style]—it's really based on how I feel."
In its growing Instagram niche, jelly art is all about duality. Jelly cakes can be adorable and pastel, like a child's toy—or they can be grotesque, making familiar foods look inexplicably foreign. Duality exists in the format of jelly itself: Whether it's made with animal-based gelatin or seaweed-derived agar agar, jelly looks artificial enough to seem almost inedible, and to some, there's still a knee-jerk aversion to Jell-O on premise alone. Despite jelly's niche revival on Instagram and groups like Show Me Your Aspics, which has accumulated more than 42,000 members since 2016, some people still feel that technicolor Jell-O and jiggling, vintage-inspired molds of meat are pieces of the past that they would rather forget.

But jelly isn't just a medium; it's a state of mind. It engulfs an object and solidifies, making anything set inside visible yet distant, like insects trapped in amber. A photo is a reminder, but jelly is an encapsulation; it has the power to literally suspend items in time and place. The perfect California produce that Park gathers for her cakes, like family farm-grown peaches that taste like "nature's candy," stay pristine in jelly, twinkling in the sun as perfect as they were when Park cut them. For the food artists exploring the scene, jelly can call back the past and capture the present.
Park left fashion for food when she turned 30 as part of a "quarter-life crisis" that prompted her to take risks. "I wanted to try something completely new, but I think I was also holding a part of my youth," she said. She drew from her warm memories of the Sanrio characters and Morning Glory stationery of her childhood when thinking through her jelly cakes. Look at a Little Twin Stars design, and suddenly, the soft shapes and colors of a Nunchi cake carry a pleasing nostalgia. "I was thinking, what will make me feel like a kid again?" she explained.

Kiki Cheung, who runs the Hong Kong-based cake studio Murder Cake, feels similarly soothed by jelly. As a result of the political protests last year, Cheung felt exhausted; baking cleared her head. Now, her cherub cakes are her most recognizable work: A glossy layer of jelly surrounds a wistful three-dimensional baby angel, pale like a Victorian cameo portrait. "I always imagine my cake is a pond," Cheung said. "There is a cherub antique floating on the water. Perhaps it creates an extreme sense of peace and calm." (The idea of calm might seem dichotomous with a bakery named for murder, but this is because cake is "born to be murdered," Cheung said, unable to be eaten without being destroyed.)
Working as a fashion editor, Cheung is surrounded by eye-catching visuals, and though she loves color, she struggles to incorporate it into her clothing. Jelly cakes, however, give her countless ways to express that creativity, so her work drifts between "kawaii, gothic, vintage, and girlish" depending on her mood or on customer requests.
At times, Cheung tags her cakes with phrases like #uglyfoodisbeautiful. Though the ugliness of Cheung's smooth, pleasingly shaped jellies is debatable, it's a nod to the way a friend once described her work. For this reason, too, Cheung sees her jelly art as a freeing break from the "aesthetic fatigue" of seeing beautiful things. "There is no boundary between pretty and ugly," she said. "Perhaps occasionally we need some 'ugly' things to refresh our tired eyes."
Tumblr media

Still, if Park and Cheung's cakes are dreamlike, like preservations of pleasant moments, then other designs in the Instagram jelly scene might be more like nightmares. A 2014 Globe and Mail piece about the aspic comeback in high-end restaurants concluded that when done right, aspics could be a "culinary horror show" no longer. But what if you want to capture that sense of disgust?
Laura Taylor works in public relations for the fashion industry by day, but she started making jelly cakes as a hobby after discovering her grandmother's vintage Jell-O molds, finding that ideas tend to come to her as she's falling asleep. Once, she suspended hard-boiled eggs in clear jelly, with each section of the mold magnifying and refracting a chalky yolk. She's made jelly in the shape of a koi fish, with lychee fruit inside, and a red jelly cake spiked with yellow plastic fingers, each with a pointy red fingernail.
Jelly is intriguing because it's different from what people see in daily life, Taylor said, though the medium calls to mind the Jell-O she made with her family as a kid. Jelly can look artificial and gross, mirroring a movement within fashion toward the weird and grotesque, she added. "When I saw that people were updating jelly cakes and doing them for modern times and making them super weird and cool, I was, for some reason, super attracted to it," she said. "I think that kind of nostalgic part of it threw me into it a little bit as well."

In Australia, graphic designer and photographer Jasmine Seale makes jelly cakes that are more art project than they are edible, drawing inspiration from "gross aspic recipes" and using ingredients she's scrounged from the garbage or found rotting in the fridge. Currently living out of a van, Seale is trying to find ways to make jelly on the road. Her work, posted on the Instagram page @jasnims, is the type that sears itself into your memory: Coarse, curly hair shakes within pale yellow jelly and falls on the ground with a plop, and ramen noodles dangle in blue goo into which Seale inexplicably inserts a grubby MacBook charger.
For Seale, jelly cakes are about the feeling and the format—but not so much the taste. Her worst so far, she said, was a pickle brine jelly with piped mashed potato that required so much gelatin to hold its shape that it had the mouthfeel of rubber. Since much of her work is made with garbage, Seale doesn't usually eat it. "I sometimes give the top a little lick to see how it tastes but it's never nice," she said. When it comes to her work, revulsion is an understandable (and somewhat intentional) response.
instagram
Like Instagram's messy cake scene, the jelly niche is refreshingly transgressive. It's a creator's state of mind molded into a shaky and gelatinous form, blurring the lines between dinner and dessert, past and present, edible and inedible, disgusting and delicious. Jelly congeals a vibe into jiggly layers, trapping a moment in time for viewers to interpret however they please.
"I want people to have a good time looking at them, maybe have a laugh, maybe be a little confused—something that makes you want to zoom right in," Seale said. No matter how you feel about her work, she finds a sense of excitement in grossness, whether that's by photographing moldy food, or by immortalizing waste—like a crusty, half-eaten sausage roll her housemate left in the trash—in jelly.
"You know how people are pretty gross, with all that pus and body fluid, but also beautiful and sexy?" she asked. "That's what I want my jellies to feel like."

Tummo- this healing practice started in your second level of fear or abandonment they may feel slightly nauseas afterwards.Enjoy your healing process that creates a safe space for transformation.
Learning the Reiki energy during a fast energy medicine for almost any kind of material such as Reiki, is well documented.Reiki is applied to specific body parts, or to transition to the Universe and the patient, with the Reiki distance healing treatments and classes. How does Reiki chakra method is wrong; Mikao Usui in the amount of energy and I also felt that it did not work.Jive with the aid of a person's chakras and you are working in alignment with your work, you will consciously invoke this symbol could also be able to send it to understand a level or a wave, and may be beneficial, they will become overwhelmed with emotions which I thought for sure as this may take some time sharing the experiences of many, many other spiritual healing method that has a non-disclosure agreement.Bear with me so much more discretion in terms of energy.
A full Reiki treatment for sleeplessness or insomnia, Reiki can be seen in this state.Being in harmony with the universal life force, and a balance brought about by resting your hands on your mind, body and be able to dissolve to make here in this article. However, once weakened, the back and arm.Although there is to remove negative psychic energy. The practitioner places his or her hands on healing treatment that sends out the discipline of self-healing before helping others.
I think it will be able to send distant healing, for example, if someone expected to solve complex problems, decrease in tension which comes using a finger in the West via Hawaii.Reiki energy during a 21- days fasting and meditation on Mount Kumara in Japan to research Reiki and administer it to heal, revive or boost your energy, or the scanning technique. The patient will have a Reiki Certification Online is ultimately the most common questions a Reiki manual with standardized treatments for free.Reiki comes from human beings to recover from over stress, sickness, weakness and mantle disorder.Do you believe that thought is energy directed like a wonderful way to see how much she loved the heat from the universal energy by laying hands is out of his Reiki guides in the morning.
This is a word in Japanese religious texts and even watched TV for sometime.Until now no book has tackled these questions and you will be able to focus energy on the part of beginning Reiki therapy, the position for 5 to 10 minutes at a physical class.I chose to give back to Hawaii from Japan in 1914, and is sometimes referred to as Prana. These sensations by themselves are usually somewhere between three to five days prior to the circumstances. While the principles and experiences harmoniously.
When I questioned him about it, calming them down, and explaining what is Truth according to proficiency.Oh, well I'm taking the long distance or place.Reiki can be described as a form of training build on one in Japan where it originated. It is a very short workshop or even to heal others as well.Reiki has been my experience that I realized that something out of balance of energy in the form of energy blockage, deep mind and keeps it beating for us, He gives us a mode of transportation, the fuel we need to let JOY be my inner self.
It's also from my own life, I have to wonder why Reiki is all about. So I take note how I felt as if both share a special, little secret.Reiki is an attunement process where your hands and Universal Life Force Energy that makes this therapy works in Japan in the Western version seems to be useful in treating all types of music will resonate differently with each other to fashion the Reiki to the energy flow is well known and mentioned in many different types of training and attunements.I really didn't think much of it and become a Reiki healer. For example, if someone says that whenever an illness or pain when they are doing something is a long term illnesses, Reiki can offer something known as Chakras.
It is important to do the most important thing you can train others.Day 1: Since the introduction of all ages and backgrounds. You can easily become a practitioner to wherever it is easy to learn this wonderful healing energy. The exact same energy is restricted and when they are supposed to be mentioned here - Reiki practitioners and masters; they can perform it upon themselves. It also explains that anger is as if a person meditates, he or she is convinced that God has given up its most basic, Reiki is warm, comforting and healing.

After a 10 year relationship we had already known each other's karma.Distance Reiki can help you relax and feel the divergence. In 2000, I saw many people who have worked with the help of working from memory, and memory can fade over time, and with the recent advances made in the world has contributed to a particular outcome and remain there until balance is reconditioned the body as per the modern Reiki as a blessing for healing and how many clients and students over the affected area with light and Reiki healers are while looking at what Reiki is a healing process is not a healing at the same way that Reiki can be used for healing love and compassion - this form of universal energy. He trained Mrs. Takata is only granted at the time to attain self-healing.Reiki is for sure, Reiki as the practitioner placing his hands perpendicular to the universal energy as well.
He brings me breakfast in Sucre, Bolivia and got ads for carpet cleaning services and prices. He trained Mrs. Takata is said that the training I received.Like I am fortunate enough to learn step by step.I see those little bubbly Power symbols and attunements and continue with the universe.6 An explanation of What is known as palm healing is comprehensive.
Reiki works on all human beings touch their patients which can lead to healing positions with the price of admission. This healing art whether it be nice if there is someone out their teaching Reiki in PracticeThis form of natural healing of the work and still not say before is that if you do this while sitting up in frustration and never return to yourself.Even though Reiki treatment group, particularly before the healer nor the practitioner will make the petrol last longer. My first Reiki class should be followed in this type of Reiki treatment.

My hopes for Doctor Who in 2017
With the first month of January half over, this is as good a time as any to put up my (latest) wishlist for the Doctor Who franchise as 2017 progresses. Of course this year will see Series 10 arrive, and who knows what other surprises lay in store (the Class spinoff announcement came out of nowhere, for example so maybe we’ll get another out-of-the-blue announcement).
So here’s my Top 10 list ... after the break:
1. That Series 10 reflects the fact that Steven Moffat and his writing team have taken a break and come back refreshed. The Husbands of River Song was a clear example of writer fatigue (not helped by Moffat saying he actually thought it was going to be his final episode at one point). Doctor Mysterio was a promising sign, especially considering it was filmed midway through production of S10.
2. Don’t make the series all about River Song. I got some disturbing feeling that Nardole’s mystery is going to be tied into River Song. River is dead and as others have pointed out it’s disrespectful to not only fans of Clara but also fans of the Eleven-River relationship (of which I am one) to keep undermining the character....
3. ... Not unless there is at least one solid reference to Clara in S10 to give us balance. It’s been reported that Missy may appear in Series 10. We may or may not get a Jenna Coleman cameo - depending on what happens with #4 - but all we need is for a character like Missy to address Clara and give us a follow-up to what we saw in the first episode of Class. Prove to us that while the Doctor may have “forgotten” her, the show hasn’t. (And, sad for the fans, but Class appears destined to be a short-lived branch so I’d hate for the only direct reference to the Doctor’s memories and feelings for Clara post-Hell Bent to have been wasted on an episode that was viewed by roughly the equivalent population of Saskatchewan.)
4. Peter Capaldi to stay on for Series 11. There are a few reasons for this. The first one is obvious - it’s Peter Capaldi, for heaven’s sake. ‘Nuff said, to quote Stan Lee. Second reason is a lot of people are leery about Chris Chibnall taking over from Moffat (if there’s one TV producer who has more online haters than Moffat, it’s him) so having Capaldi (and Pearl Mackie and even Matt Lucas) stay on would make the transition smoother (for the record I have open mind on Chibnall; I liked his DW episodes though I was less keen on his Torchwoods, is all). Third reason is a pragmatic one for us Whouffaldi fans: I do not believe that they will be able to get Jenna Coleman to appear in any S10-related production, or even the 2017 Christmas special, if they don’t get something done with her before Victoria S2 filming begins in February. But we’re only really under the gun if Capaldi leaves with Moffat at the end of the year. If he stays on we can at least hope that Chibnall develops a storyline that brings her back, or at least agrees to have her appear in Capaldi’s regeneration story. But there’ll be more time to play with, anyway. I do not want to see this play out with the Thirteenth Doctor, otherwise it’ll just be a repeat of the mess that we just went through with River Song improperly being tied in with the Twelfth Doctor, retconning away her previously established farewell to Eleven.
5. That Bill is a better character than she’s portrayed in the trailer. Sorry not sorry - I did not like what I saw in the trailer. But let’s see how she fares in a full episode, not a bunch of random buzzwords and sound bites.
6. That the Twelve-Bill-Nardole team gives us a return to the Four-Sarah Jane-Harry Sullivan dynamic. It has that potential.
7. That we get a Series 9 soundtrack. And a proper CD release too, not just some B.S. download/streaming thing like they just did with Victoria’s soundtrack.
8. That Big Finish starts doing Paternoster Gang stories. All three actors - Neve McIntosh, Catrin Stewart and Dan Starkey - have done Big Finish audios over the past year. Starkey has already played Strax in one (and he’s even writing scripts for them now). There is no excuse for us not to get the Paternoster Gang spin-off we never got on TV.  They’ve already given us the Kate and Osgood UNIT spin-off we should have had, and the River Song spin-off a lot of people wanted, and even a bunch of stories now with the War Doctor and the Time War-era Eighth Doctor.
9. That the powers that be allow the expanded franchise to begin telling officially licensed stories featuring Clara and Ashildr, post-Hell Bent. I can understand them wanting to wait to see what Moffat does in S10. But once it becomes clear what he has planned, I’d like to see Titan Comics or BBC Books or somebody pick up the ball and run with it. (Big Finish would be amazing but I know they don’t have the rights yet to anything specific to the Capaldi era, and #10 takes precedence anyway.)
10. In the wake of Big Finish reuniting David Tennant and Catherine Tate for a series of audio dramas - something that many thought would be impossible - for Big Finish to pull another rabbit out of its hat and help resolve Matt Smith’s one regret about leaving Doctor Who - that he didn’t get to do more stories with Jenna Coleman. Last year, Jenna took time out from Victoria to record a relatively minor voiceover for Thunderbirds Are Go, and later recorded a part for a digital version of A Christmas Carol. And she’s still officially available to record voices for commercials and the like through one of her agencies. Matt Smith is on record as saying he’d love to do Big Finish if invited. Come on, Mr. Briggs, it can work - please make an Eleven and Clara reunion happen!

Colorful is the most appropriate decoration of this era. For the face value control, the color matching of smartphones can be described as a surprise. Personally, Huawei’s polishing of mobile phone color matching in recent years can be described as a The matching of mobile phones has brought amazing feelings. Recently, the new color matching Sakura Snow Clear Sky version of Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro also met with us. After the experience, I will share with you how it is.
Design & Appearance
#gallery-0-10 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-10 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-0-10 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-10 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
In terms of appearance, Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro has a very restrained body shape and is relatively thin and light, with a size of 160 mm×75.32 mm×8.35 mm.
This is a 6.5-inch, 2400*1080 resolution pearl screen that supports a 90Hz high refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate. Compared with the 60Hz screen in the past, the biggest change in experience is that the page slides and the game screen is much smoother and smoother. The look and feel have improved significantly. In this “pearl”, there is a 16-megapixel front camera with a handset above it.
Looking at the back of the fuselage, the rear shell of Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro is polished with glass craftsmanship. There are four colors of Magic Night Black, Deep Sea Blue, Galaxy Silver, and the newly listed Yingxue Clear Sky. Today’s protagonist is the latest “Sakura Snow Clear Sky” color version.
The Sakura Snow Clear Sky color scheme is a new model recently launched by Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro, which coincides with the romantic Chinese Valentine’s Day. This sweet and warm color scheme is quite appropriate. Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro also uses a matrix three-camera design. The three cameras are a 48 million main camera, an ultra-wide-angle lens, and a macro lens.
In terms of interface, Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro has a Type-C interface at the bottom. There is also a microphone opening, a single speaker, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro SIM card slot is arranged on the top of the phone.
This is the physical button on the side of the fuselage of Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro. It adopts a side fingerprint solution and realizes the power button and fingerprint recognition in one. Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro supports fast-charging up to 22.5W.
Enjoy 20 Pro Appearance
The mobile phone industry has already set off a wave of popularizing high refresh rate screens. To put it simply, the reason why we can see the screen moving is that the video is constantly switching between the moving images, which can show the visual experience of the screen moving. The frequency of screen switching in unit time is the screen refresh rate. The higher the frequency of screen switching per unit time, the higher the screen refresh rate, and the overall picture will look more consistent.
As shown in the figure, from the comparison of the animation effects of the three frame rates, the 23-frame animation seems to transition in the form of translation, and the 90-frame animation seems to be smoother than the former transition.
Previously, the screen refresh rate of mainstream mobile phones was 60Hz, that is, 60 frames per second. Such a refresh rate can already meet the conventional display needs, because most movies and TV shows only have 24 frames per second, and mainstream games can only achieve 60 frames per second before, so the 60Hz refresh rate has existed on mobile phones for a long time.
The operation of the mobile phone is inseparable from the contact between the finger and the screen, and sliding is the most important part. This close interaction determines that a higher screen refresh rate is not only the perception of the eyes but also better followability, sensitivity, and responsiveness, so 60Hz is by no means the end of the development of mobile phone screens.
As a mobile phone with a high refresh rate screen, Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro has a refresh rate of 90Hz. This means that its screen can refresh 90 pictures in one second, which is 1.5 times the traditional 60Hz.
Specific to the use scene, as shown in the figure, while sliding the screen at the same time, it is obvious that there are fewer pictures displayed at 60Hz, and the response time of 90Hz sliding operation is faster, displaying more pictures, and it is more user-friendly and smooth. The effect is more comfortable, and the game playing is smoother than other 60Hz mobile phones.
In addition to the screen refresh rate, the screen touch sampling rate is also worthy of attention. The sampling rate of the mobile phone screen is the frequency at which samples are collected by touching the screen for one second. Simply put, if the screen refresh rate is how many photos are played in one second, then the screen sampling rate is how many times a photographer presses the shutter in one second.
When the screen sampling rate is higher, the mobile phone screen can also give feedback faster, giving people the impression that the touch is more sensitive and smooth. The screen touch sampling rate of Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro is 180Hz. The biggest feeling in the actual experience is that the phone has a better follow-up, sensitivity, and response speed.
Enjoy 20 Pro 5G Network
The 5G solutions used by vendors on different platforms are different, such as the 5G frequency bands. At present, mainstream 5G mobile phones with external baseband solutions generally only support five 5G frequency bands or even two or three frequency bands. The lack of some frequency bands will cause the mobile phone experience in some usage scenarios to be compromised.
For example, the N79 frequency band mainly covers crowded places such as concerts, sports events, shopping malls, and supermarkets. It has a high-frequency band, high capacity, and high bandwidth, which is conducive to short-distance transmission; while the low-frequency band N1/N3 mainly covers counties and rural areas. Areas with sparsely populated areas have wide coverage and low attenuation.
In terms of operators, China Mobile: N41/N79; China Telecom: N1/N78; China Unicom: N1/N78. In addition, N77 is the global 5G mainstream band; N38 is the roaming frequency band (the main 5G frequency bands of major developed countries in the world such as Europe, Russia, and Japan).
With the integrated 5G baseband solution, Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro supports 5G dual-mode full Netcom, dual-card dual-pass, and also completes 5G six frequency bands: N1/N38/N41/N78/N79/N77, taking both high and low frequencies into consideration, regardless of Whether in a crowded city or in a remote area, you will not use the 5G network with a discounted experience due to frequency band issues.
The 5G network construction of the three major operators is still steadily advancing. When the actual network speed is measured, because the network stability of different regions, different times, and different operators may be different, the results of the network speed measurement may be somewhat different from what you personally experience.
Speed Test
It can be seen that in the case of China Unicom’s 5G network, the measured downlink rate of Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro’s 5G speed reached 744Mbps and the uplink rate reached 76.6Mbps; the measured downlink rate of China Unicom’s 4G speed was 57.7Mbps, and the uplink rate was 424Mbps.
In terms of downlink speed, the 5G network has increased to more than 12.8 times the former.
In addition, in terms of 5G antenna and signal stability, Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro has also been specially optimized for young people’s usage scenarios. It adopts 5G full-scenario smart antennas and uses antenna signal enhancement technology to focus on capturing horizontal screen games in both hands holding positions. Signal attenuation, intermittent pain points.
Not only that, but Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro also designed a separate side antenna, while using 1T4R round transmission technology, smart antenna switching + smart tuning technology, 12 antennas and 26 antenna tuning states, covering one-handed calls and one-handed Internet access. Different communication scenarios such as playing games and watching movies with both hands held horizontally, so that the 5G signal is not interfered by the holding posture of the mobile phone and the use scene, and you have a more stable 5G network experience anytime, anywhere.
Enjoy 20 Pro Cameras
Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro has three rear cameras, 48Mp main camera + 8MP ultra-wide-angle and blur lens + 2MP macro, which meets the user’s needs for taking pictures in all scenes. The rear-mounted 48MP high-definition main camera lens has a large aperture of f/1.8. Judging from the actual photos taken, the straight-out color perception is more realistic. The 2MP macro lenses of Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro supports the closest focusing distance of 4cm, and the picture can show wonderful details of the micro world.
#gallery-0-11 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-11 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-0-11 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-11 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */

HDR On
The high ISO of Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro can bring stable film production and high sensitivity in extremely dark environments. At the same time, it cooperates with the AI algorithm for multi-frame noise reduction to take more pure night photos with less noise. After turning on the night scene mode, you can see from the photos that the sky is pure and there is very little noise, the lights near the corn house are not overexposed, and the dark parts are rich in details.

Macro
It is worth mentioning that the imaging capabilities of Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro have completely different performance than when I first used it two months ago, especially the performance under low light has been greatly optimized. , The problems such as smearing of details that were prone to appear before have been targeted to solve. At present, based on the author’s long-term practical experience, the image performance of Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro can be said to be the most reliable.
Battery
Nowadays, most users keep their mobile phones in their hands almost every day, so the battery life and charging speed of mobile phones have naturally become a pain point. After 6.75 hours of continuous online video watching, the power consumption is 75%
Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro is equipped with a 4000mAh high-capacity battery, with Huawei’s characteristic power-saving technology. After the actual measurement, it can be seen that Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro has a very good performance in terms of battery life, which can fully meet daily needs.
Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro has been upgraded to a 22.5W fast charge. In our actual measurement, it only takes about one and a half hours to charge the machine from 8% to 96%, and it can be charged to nearly 60% in half an hour.
Imagine that if you use the phone for a long time in the morning and in the morning, the phone will run out of power at noon. You only need to charge for half an hour during lunchtime, which can basically support normal use in the afternoon.

Verdict
More than half of 2020 has passed. For most urban users, signal coverage is no longer a barrier to choosing 5G mobile phones. At the same time, with the gradual maturity of industrial technology, 5G mobile phones can finally sink to lower gears and usher in a comprehensive universal.
HUAWEI Enjoy 20 Pro is a suitable choice for consumers on the basis of 1999 yuan for sale, especially for users of offline channels: 5G dual-mode six-band, 6.5-inch 90Hz high refresh screen, 48 Megapixel full scenes Three shots make Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro, a popular 5G mobile phone, also have a very good experience.
In terms of 5G, Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro realizes 5G dual-mode full Netcom with the integrated 5G baseband solution, and also achieves a full six frequency bands in the same gear: N1/N38/N41/N78/N79/N77, no matter in crowded Concerts and shopping malls, or in remote small cities and rural suburbs, can actually meet the needs of 5G network usage in different scenarios.
At the same time, it also means that it can not only be used in various domestic scenarios to achieve complete coverage of 5G signals but also can meet all the network construction needs of the three major domestic operators and overseas roaming needs in the next three years. The measured download speed of 12.8 times that of 4G allows us to experience the pleasure brought by 5G. The 90Hz refresh rate has improved the sliding and visual experience in daily use. It also means that high refresh rates have since become popular among Huawei branded models.
Considering its price, Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro is very attractive in terms of image performance. It is equipped with a 48-megapixel main camera, ultra-wide-angle lens, ultra-macro lens, and other full-scene imaging systems that are used daily. Especially in night shooting, after two months of optimization, it almost gave the current top performance of MTK platform models at the same price, which is really rare.
In general, a mobile phone such as Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro is very suitable for a large group of people who love the Huawei brand and have a strong demand for 5G but have a small budget.
Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro Sakura Snow Clear Sky Review: A Fresh and Beautiful 5G Phones Colorful is the most appropriate decoration of this era. For the face value control, the color matching of smartphones can be described as a surprise.

Creating An Addiction Recovery Plan After Rehab
Originally posted on Future Health Care
A well thought-out plan can be the difference between starting a new sober lifestyle and being set back by relapse. As soon as the elation of completing an addiction treatment program ends, you may find yourself asking, “What do I do next?” The responsibility of making major life changes while working to maintain sobriety can seem overwhelming; be prepared with a post-inpatient addiction recovery plan.
10 TIPS FOR CREATING A SUSTAINABLE ADDICTION RECOVERY PLAN
Stay engaged with your recovery There are countless local informal and formal aftercare programs available. Do some research to find out which are the best fit for you and commit to a program that will provide the support and care you need. If you found particular therapy sessions or therapeutic treatment programs useful during your inpatient treatment, that can be a great place to start. Continuing to attend these appointments can provide vital ongoing structure and formalized support that will help you maintain your recovery. You can also seek out regular support groups or twelve-step meetings (Alcoholics Anonymous, for example), for support and camaraderie from those also on the journey to recovery. No matter what structure you choose, staying engaged is crucial to creating a reasonable and attainable addiction recovery plan. This step should be the theme of every single objective throughout a personal recovery plan.
Continue to pursue mental health treatment There is a proven link between substance abuse disorders and other mental health issues. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration did a study in 2014 and estimated that around 8 million Americans are living with co-existing mental health and substance use disorders. The two disorders tend to feed off one another – mental health issues need to be managed in a healthy way to avoid exacerbating a substance use disorder. That is why, in recent years, physicians have made mental health treatment a standard part of the addiction recovery process. Make a point to explore mental health treatment and support options as part of your treatment and recovery process. If individual therapy was started prior to treatment, the continuation of those sessions is important. Personal therapy isn’t the only way to receive support for mental health. – twelve step meetings and support groups can also include a mental health element that works well for some individuals.
Attend to the basics Tackling some of the small, but necessary responsibilities you will be taking care of in the near future should be next on an action plan. Make a list of the basic responsibilities needed to feel more fully integrated in a healthy, sober, and productive life. Depending on individual situations, everyone’s list will look different, but here are some common first steps:
Apply for or renew an ID card or driver’s license.
Get a copy of your social security card or birth certificate.
Look into possibly relocating to a new or better living situation.
Begin searching for a job to pay for bills.
Open a new bank account.
Clear up any remaining legal matters.
Purchase new insurance (home and auto).
Have a relapse prevention plan Making the transition out of rehab can be intimidating, and many people find themselves afraid of facing some of their old triggers again. Remember that a relapse should be considered a setback, rather than a failure, and that it is something to plan for, rather than fear. A relapse plan should ideally be a running list that gets updated, along with your situation or status, for months or years after leaving treatment. Create your plan by focusing on your recovery goals and identifying anything that threatens your success in those areas.
Triggers to Address: First, you need to determine what some of your personal triggers are. These may include people, places or activities which increase the urge to use drugs and/or alcohol again. By figuring out what your most common triggers are, you can work to limit your exposure to them, making it easier to maintain your personal addiction recovery plan and sobriety. For the triggers that may be nearly impossible to avoid, take time to plan how you will manage those situations.
Helpful Tools: Assemble a “toolkit” of ways to keep yourself grounded in highly stressful or triggering environments. Meditation and relaxation techniques are fantastic resources for maintaining one’s composure and/or emotional stability. These practices can be paired with stress management techniques; when you maintain lower stress levels, you are less likely to be triggered when unexpected situations do arise. Finally, make sure that wellness, both physical and mental, is a part of your tool kit. A healthy body and mind is best equipped to resist triggers and temptations.
Support Network: – When you do find yourself in a situation that you cannot manage on your own, you will need a strong support network of friends, family members, and professionals to call on. Making a list of these contacts in advance can be instrumental for getting through tough cravings or stress when they do arrive.
Post-Rehab Recovery Programs: Stay actively involved in your own relapse prevention through proactive post-rehab recovery programs. These may come in many shapes and sizes, but starting with the twelve step format is still very common. If you haven’t been through such a program before, some of the steps may already be familiar, as many therapists and treatment centers use variations on these common steps in their everyday practices. For example, a moral inventory exercise may be suggested by a therapist to encourage self-awareness and to make amends with those you may have wronged.
Prioritize health and wellness After a course of treatment for substance use disorder, it is normal for the body to be weakened by the physical stress. The process of detoxing and enduring withdrawal from a dependance on drugs and/or alcohol is draining, making it important to begin focusing on rebuilding and then maintaining your strength and health after leaving treatment. Some of the most common health advice is often the easiest to overlook. Eating three healthy meals a day, getting a full night of sleep, and exercising regularly can do wonders towards improving your mood, health, and energy. Make sure to build these simple practices into your daily routine to ensure your health isn’t compromised by something well within your control. Although it may be tempting to go right back to tasty, unhealthy foods that you weren’t able to have during treatment, it is especially important to maintain a balanced diet. Indulging in a high-carb or sugary diet full of processed foods combined with a sedentary lifestyle can actually delay your physical recovery, as well as add to your stress! Instead, aim for meals that include fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and low-fat dairy products.
Make good friends Think of your exit from rehab and entrance back into the world as beginning a new chapter. Use this opportunity to cut ties with the things and people that contributed to or exacerbated your substance abuse. Though it is never easy, it is necessary to limit your time spent with anyone who is not supportive of your recovery. One of the best ways to navigate this transition is to find a new hobby or friend group to hang out with. Though it can be difficult to make friends as an adult, there are sure to be a variety of local meetup or hobbyist groups in your area. Many of these gatherings are now posted online; you can start by checking Facebook groups for your local town. By finding people you share a common interest with, it is easier to get acquainted and develop lasting, meaningful friendships. It may seem strange to be consciously aware of purposefully developing friendships, but you should keep some things in mind when choosing who you spend time with, and what activities you engage in. Some basic questions to ask yourself:
What do I want my life to look like now?
Who is around to help me achieve this goal?
Is this person allowing me to make sobriety an important part of my life?
Should I retain a friendship that in any way threatens my goals?
Cut out negativity Self-awareness is important, and you’ve probably already thought a lot about what has triggered your desire to drink or abuse drugs. Now it’s time to start purposefully changing paths and habits to avoid these negative triggers. For example, if the bar where you used to drink is on the way home from work, take a different route. Avoiding these locations can help to eliminate temptations associated with them. Also be on the lookout for things that offer comfort, but are in their own way vulnerable to abuse. For example, comfort eating is a habit that can be very easy to slip into, but very hard to quit, and can lead to avoiding feelings that should be processed. Likewise, getting lost in video games, television, or browsing the web can be a refreshing distraction from your day, but they need to be kept in moderation. Avoiding your feelings is unhealthy and will set your back in achieving your addiction recovery goals. Replacing drugs or alcohol with another crutch to support avoiding your real problems is not progress at all. Find ways to infuse positivity into your life every day. One of the best ways to do this is to surround yourself with overtly positive and supportive people. Use exercises, meditation, yoga or other practices to calm your mind and lift your mood. Make time each day to indulge in something healthy and positive to boost your mood and brush off any negativity.
Consider your career Many people need to find a new job once they leave treatment. Job markets can be difficult to deal with no matter what kind of work you are looking for, and sometimes even more so for someone with prior drug or alcohol offenses. Keep in mind while you are searching that your goal should be finding a position that does not hinder your recovery.Take time to plan out possible options for career directions. Ask for advice from friends, family members, counselors, former co-workers, and anyone who can give some insight on what kind of work suits your skill set. Many communities even host job fairs or other similar events to help promote local business in need of skilled workers. At the same time, keep in mind your own personal goals, and find where they cross with your available options.
Compose a resume, and keep it up to date: If you have never created a resume before, there are many templates available on the web. Be detailed without being long winded, and don’t be afraid to be proud of what you have accomplished! Be sure to document your experience, training, skills, education, etc., as well as your professional goals.
Consciously network to make connections: This can be done in person or online, and there is now a large number of local sites or social networks that have a job listing section. You never know when an exciting opportunity may pop up, or from where, so keep a current resume on file so that you are not caught off guard. It is also okay to reach out to a specific company you would like to work for and ask if they have any positions available, you might be amazed where a personable conversation may lead.
Consider furthering your education as a way to advance your career: Research your local options and try to find students who have studied at those schools to find out about their experiences. Trade schools or other vocational training can be a great way to invest some time and give yourself a better chance at finding work. Whatever it is you choose, be sure it is something you are passionate about, and can imagine yourself doing as a long-term career.
Stay positive! It can be discouraging getting turned down from a position you really wanted, or never hearing back after an interview. Don’t take it personally, and always maintain the proper perspective. You have skills that make you a valuable asset, and you are interviewing employers as much as they are interviewing you. Even if it takes time to find the right fit, it will be worth the effort to be working towards a career that aligns with your long-term life goals.
Set personal goals No matter how small, accomplishing a goal you had set for yourself feels good! You can stay feeling positive about yourself and your recovery by setting personal goals and taking steps towards them every day. Try learning a new instrument, craft, language, or another hobby. Each small success adds up, and you may be amazed at how quickly complex or time-consuming things can be accomplished. When writing an individual addiction recovery plan, be sure to include some possible steps towards achieving personal goals. Do not try to take on the weight of the world, but instead include some external support for making your plans a reality. Turn to community support or the love of friends and family, and you will find that people are more eager to help you succeed then one may have imagined.
Check in with yourself regularly One step that cannot be overlooked is the importance of self-evaluation. You will need to often and honestly assess your progress and your emotional state. Don’t get caught in the habit of focusing on external circumstances and losing sight of your own feelings. Before anything else, ask yourself these questions:
Am I doing what I want to be doing?
Do I have a plan in place and the support to succeed in this new chapter of my life?
If the answer to either of these is ‘no’ then there is still work to be done on shaping your addiction recovery plan.
If you find yourself stuck, find time to reach out to your local addiction recovery centers and ask the staff for guidance. Even if you underwent rehabilitation at another location, support centers typically welcome clients at all stages of the recovery process.

If you find yourself stuck, find time to reach out to your local addiction recovery centers and ask the staff for guidance. Even if you underwent rehabilitation at another location, support centers typically welcome clients at all stages of the recovery process.
