15 Questions 15 Mutuals
Thank you to @avianii for the tag 💚
1. Are you named after anyone?
Yes! I'm named after my great aunt, who practically raised my mom.
2. When was the last time you cried?
Sometime over the summer? I'm not sure of the exact date, but poetsquarecats was raising money for Flatbrush Cats over the summer, and I donated in honor of my cat who passed away.
3. Do you have kids?
No, and I never will. They're not for me.
4. What sports do you play/have played?
I haven't been in sports since 6th grade. 😬😬 But I did softball for awhile, along with volleyball and horseback riding.
5. Do you use sarcasm?
I've never heard of it before (I love lying)
6. What's the first thing you notice about people?
Hair color. Mine is (currently) blue (bad timing), but I'm always on the lookout for people with fun hair.
7. What's your eye color?
Green 💚
8. Scary movies or happy endings?
Happy endings. I can't do scary movie at all. Fifth grade me and her love of Goosebumps would be so disappointed.
9. Any talents?
Talking, which I feel like is a requirement of being a political science major. I'd also say I'm a decent writer but nothing crazy.
10. Where were you born?
Pennsylvania (home, sweet home)! Other than being in New York for college, I've lived there my entire life, and I'm absolutely going back after graduation.
11. What are your hobbies?
Reading is a big one, though now it's mostly the news and fanfiction 💀. I'm also on my college's Model UN team, host two radio shows for the college radio, and run my internship's podcast, so I dedicate a lot of my time to those.
12. Do you have any pets?
I have two cats, three dogs, and a tank full of fish!
13. How tall are you?
5'4 😔
14. Favorite subject in school?
I'm a political science major, so anything to do with that lol. My favorite class so far in college has been my US Foreign Policy class.
15. Dream job?
I'm still trying to figure it out! But I think my current plan is to be an Environmental or Civil Rights lawyer.
I think everyone I know has already been tagged so anyone who wants to do this, feel free :)

february ‘21 song favorites
I can’t believe that February 2021 just passed. I’m still processing the fact that it’s 2021 in the first place. How can I sum this month up? I felt all the emotions: full, lonely, stressed, euphoric, strangely sober.
I started reading again.
Anyways, here are my February favorites in no particular order.
1. frequency by elton aura, bedows, burns twins
I don’t recognize a single person on this song, but this song feels so familiar. It just has the vibe of all the songs in the ‘some sort of vibe’ playlist. It actually encompasses everything that the playlist goes for. Ngl, most of the songs I like will have this vibe.
2. so damn fly by your grandparents
This is a very up and coming group. They don't have much out, but everything they do have out is such vibe. I feel like this would be the smooth shit I play if I was a dude tryna impress a pretty girl I knew had good music taste like myself in the car.
3. anita by smino
This one was shown to me by a tinder date, haha. I’m honestly surprised I didn’t know it before–I mean I love Smino. It’s one of those songs that I’ve heard it around but never knew the name.
4. the goddess ft dave b.by flatbrush zombies
This one I have to thank one of my only white friends for showing me this group. This song awakens something inside me that just wants to dance around with my hair down. Ugh, SO GOOD. The flow would have even the most tone deaf mf bob their head.
5. bridges by kyle lux
This song was shown to me a long time ago by one of my close friends. This was one of those songs that one first couple of listens, I didn’t even like it. I re-listened to it this month and bam sounds totally different to me! All of sudden, the tunes are completely melodious. It’s crazy how different songs can sound to you at different points of your life.
6. no roof access by kyle lux
Ok, so after that one song, I had to see what more this artist had to offer, and the answer is plenty. I haven’t gotten around to his whole no roof access album, but this is the song to listen to–if any–by Kyle Lux that I feel portrays his art style the best.
7. thunder by 99 neighbors
The flow of this song just works so well. From the first verse to the chorus to the bridge, it all belongs together. This song feels like reading one of those books where you meet 4 different characters that have their own special narrative that meet at the end in an amazingly exciting cross over like when the wizards and zach and cody and hannah montana all met.
8. gimme all your love by alabama shakes
Alabama Shakes was introduced to me by my ex and I knew they were bomb, but I never continued listening to them on my own when my ex and I split up. But, I am so glad that this song came back into my listening rotation. This song’s brash sounds intermittent with smooth jazz overlayed with the voice of what I can only describe as one of those muses from the Disney Hercules movie makes me wanna sing along at the top of my lungs. You can feel the raw emotion in this song. Ugh, goosebumps. This is the type of song I would kill someone to hear live.
honorable mentions
9. honeymoon by rob curly
10. forever by nascent and orion sun
11. diddy bop by noname

A weird and long step by step
((this probably isn’t a good tutorial, no one asked for this, i just want to write something)) If you think too much words just read the bold ones. Program used is Clip Studio Paint Pro. I bought it in summer 2018 with 50% sale, really worth it if you ask me.
I start off with rough sketch, usually the draft was just stickman (i deleted the layer so there’s no such thing in the GIF) using Redjuice’s flatbrush, or I do this step traditionally using pencil and paper then took a photo of it
rough lineart, well I’m bad in lineart so this one particular lineart will be our final lineart, or maybe I would redraw this again just to make sure of the composition & detail. I’m using the default (rough?) pencil tool
blocking the figure. To save lives, make sure do this in new layer. Using default G-Pen tool in desaturated (or gray) colors. This step will help if you want to make background.
uhh rough colors?? I never prepared color palette beforehand so I just brush off colors to see how they work. Still with Redjuice’s flat brush with different pressure. I did this until I’m satisfied. Usually I use complementary colors in base color and highlight (eg if the basecolor blue, then the highlight will be yellow/red). For shadows just around saturated/desaturate colors. In this step defining values is important. This step is very necessary for me because I like colorful things, so sometimes just splashing colors into drawings and it ended up ugly.
make folder of all usable layers, then duplicate folder, then merge. I try to keep my layers in minimum due to my laptop’s low spec. I also have too much experience of wrong layer so in the end let’s just merge all of them. Usually I separate between background, figure (the one blocked before), and eyes cuz eyes are frickin hard for me. Maybe more if there are details.
Render pretty much self-explanatory, for this style I’m using this watercolor brush. Altough in 90% of my drawings I also use this brush. Start with the pic’s focal point I mean if you draw people usually the most important part is the face, then try to make it as best as you can. I will not move to the next part until I finished the face, especially.. eyEs.. Just pick colors by pressing alt then brush everything.
better explanation. skin: I used saturated color for the lines, then paler colors. nose: idk i usually make noses more saturated than the rest. eyes: dark top, then some highlight in the middle, and bright desaturated color in the bottom.. pretty much basic anime eyes. For all parts I start off by drawing lines (aka painting lineart)
Hair is my fav part, but also hardest aside from eyes. I just make some blob at first, then lines, then render by making triangle or rhombus of colors
Render the rest until u satisfied (I’m very sorry at this worthless effort of explaining), just follow the rough color created before
Make it fancy. I just airbrushed red/orange in overlay layer. Then some droplet from default brush. If necessary a color balance layer and curves can help too.
That’s all. Sorry for too much words lol. I just happen to have some rough weeks hahA. Anyway I’ve posted several drawings in this style before, my favorite is this one (top), and these posts also used similar style/technique: 1 2 3. If anyone want a better and more detailed tutorial just let me know, so I’m sure what I did can be useful for someone...Thanks if anyone read this.
#tutorial#i believe this post will not show up in tumblr's search result#step by step#art tutorial#...i guess? hope this inspired someone huhuehaha#long post

INTRODUCTION TO TYPOGRPAHY
09/10/19
In this workshop, we were tasked with completing 5 typography- related activities.
Task 1:
In this task, we had to collage characters together - we could form a word or be abstract. Here, I formed the ‘why?’ Overall, I think my piece was rather successful; I completed the task and made my own ‘h’ as I couldn’t find what I wanted. But, if I had more time I would’ve created a more abstract piece because I think it would get me thinking more about typography as shapes rather than words.
Task 2:
Here, I experimented with typography using odd equipment. For example, I used a wooden stick for the red alaphabet and an oversized, flatbrush for the big red letters. This task really helped me to think about the form of typography - it was harder to create certain characters with certain equipment. E.g the wooden stick was perfect for straight lines but not for curved. If I was to do this again, I think I would experiment more outside-the-box. I would want to use more colours and an even bigger range of odd equipment.
Task 3:
Here, we were tasked with creating 3D type. I made a box with typography carved out of it. Overall, I think this piece turned out okay. I definetly completed the brief but, I don’t think it was that successful - it’s very boring with no colour and would have looked better if I photographed it in a dark place with a light on it to show shadow typography.

spotify project ; post 1 / 6
Beginning of the project.
Shiv, Georgia and I chose the song we wanted to work with. U&I by Flatbrush Zombies.
We worked together and attempted to figure out visuals for the piece we wanted. I worked on a moodboard for ideas to contribute to my second backup song choice of Life Letters by Never Get Used To People. That can be found here.
The next week, we focused on U&I, deciding upon visuals for that, as well as ideas for how we could work Arduino into the song and how we could make this work.
