We have become a nation devoid in moral character. A nation where the mentality ill are allowed to run the asylum.
Reality scares us, almost as much as morality. So we try and hide from both. We are more comfortable living in a world where delusion and deceit are the norm.
A nation of soft, ideologues, who pontificate to one another, rejoiceing in whatever cause celebre wonders in front of them.
