Court
The individual/criminal will be sent here to be judged, Anubis is waiting to take this person's life.
The only resource of light should be the building in the middle, and the fire on top of the building is used to burn the bodies.
The justice scale and knife will be used in here but I’m not sure where to put them.

Des room two electric boogaloo for Uni.
A continuation/enhancement of the previous room, this time with added value, color, lighting and materiality. Did another sketch on top to add the material to make it look like an actual wooden ship. A lot of the vibes of his room are a mix of wood and paper, a very homey, earthen and warm feel to it, with all his sketches, books and wood carvings around.

assignment 8: environmental design, part 2
tools: ipad, procreate
description:
molten lava-looking textures around buildings to show destroyed state, buildings are ruined, lava highlights the burnt and corroding metal
metal scaffolding/archways resemble a subway station, used to support the cave structure
stone foot paths are winding through the city, supported by tall metal beams
there is no light, since cave collapses over the years has crumbled all the holes to the surface
place is dark, abandoned, and unsettling, but mostly empty
feedback: i thought i'd try my hand at photobashing and i got humbled so fast-
proud of the fact that i got the shapes that i wanted and was able to find everything i needed. as i went, i figured out better ways of incorporating the images together. improvements: uhhh everything? it's not really clear what's going on in the image, everything is really dark, things don't blend in well with one another, etc.
UPDATE: added a bit more value in the back to give it better depth in the second image

Assignment Name: Environment Design part 3
Tools: procreate, ipad
Desc: This is for a factory scene of my thesis game Bobble Bob. The major pivotal event is the factory got burnt out after extensive use, preparing for the war. Everything besides the leader sanctuary is heavily damaged and heated up. The leader sanctuary is well protected by high tech nano technology of bubble wraps.
Feedback:
I referenced a bunch of factory interior images for creating the material sense of steels and metals that were heated up and exhausted. A lot of colors are used and messed together to create the sense of chaotic. Also as with the previous case, I want a contract between the leader sanctuary with the rest of the environment. The parasitic bug is really fun to render its skin difference before and after the burn-out heat.
I do wonder when view it as a whole, does it feel like too many stuffs is involved and there is not so much of hierarchy or focus points?

Assignment7 part 3
Used Csp and Unity
Market in ancient Athens settings but different time.
Different weather and time of the day. potteries are broken.
I tried to create a different mood by changing minor scenes in the background and the overall color temperature. I think it could be better if I can make more changes to other surroundings like trees and houses.

Second pass of the blacksmiths workspace. The room itself should look somewhat ornate because it resides within the new faction’s school grounds. The blacksmith works with traditional metals and magical materials. Any blacksmiths in this age worth their salt knows how to make use of the remnants of slayed monsters. The less waste the better.
While she is by no means an expert at magic, she is capable of imbuing weapons with some magical material. A skill learned from her past days of monster hunting.

Adds a sense of space with a more serious vibe.
Furniture was given a more classic feel and the company's logo was incorporated.
Distinguish more specifically between service robots and security robots.
For this assignment, I tried to search for a variety of references, especially robots. I feel that robots are a great medium to show a great view of the world, and the way a robot makes people feel can determine how they feel about the world as a whole.

Assignment 7: Environment Design
Tool(s): Procreate
Description: colorized, cleaned up (ish) version of a ritualistic space. In an attempt to be rebellious, the newer generation of Bloodrunners that has begun to run the area are tacking up things that look like they actively disrupt the surrounding architecture - mostly to reflect the state of and spite their elders, who have been running the operation in a superficial manner (corruption, no central values, etc.)
Feedback: a lot of elements could have been cleaned up more, and colors/values more dramatic to really hammer in the lighting. This space was hard to really show people "living" in it since it is meant to be a more sacred space. The combination of brutalism and traditional Chinese elements was meant to emulate some sort of Chinese cyberpunk (think: less futuristic and more wires/lost and/or archaic technology fused with runic magic) but it is less apparent here? if that makes sense lmao

Notes:
1 - The terraforming ship is meant to resemble a pollenating insect, and carries water to assist in the process.
2 - The garb of the terraformer is, on the one hand, practical, resembling an astronaut. But it is also gilded, representing the almost religious reverence with which the practice is viewed.
3 - The terraformer uses no tools because the act is performed through psionic power. In this way the character is as much a druid or wizard as they are a scientist. This is not an act that just anyone in the universe can perform - it is the work of a specific 'priest caste.'
What I want to improve: I think the 'ground' looks more like a body of water. In retrospect I would flatten it and use a less dramatic shade of red, as well as do some more line work to solidify its shape. I also think I went to far with the sharpening tool with the closer planet. Lastly I'd like to make the sky more vibrant.

The palace after a long battle that continued for years. There are plants growing around the building and most of the columns are on the ground, broken. Plants should be skinny and dry. The ceilings are also broken into pieces and we can see the sky now.

Work for uni, this time showing a lived in space in two perspectives. I chose to do Des’s quarters on the ship he is a First Mate to, the Swiftwing. It’s connected to the captain’s quarters directly, and given Des’s secluded nature actually has no doors from the hallway. Most of the walls are carved in intricate patterns, all done by Des’s hand, and the walls are covered in artwork and little cubbies with all his wood carvings. The right piece was done first, just to get a sense of the layout, but was more developed in the left sketch with a different perspective. The process included creating a singe floor layout then transforming it in perspective, after which certain things had to be adjusted because they didn’t look cohesive enough in the space itself. The room was meant to give off the energy of a room within a ship that is also a nest and save haven for a man who loves art and stories, including small secret homages to his past campaigns and growth :)
Done entirely in photoshop

Assignment Name: Environment Design part 2
Tools: procreate, ipad
Desc: This is for a factory scene of my thesis game Bobble Bob. It is an earthy underwater space with fantasy settings. The creatures here are working day and night to make arrow bubble weapons to fight for their beloved and respected queen. A lot of training and brainwashing also happened in this space and mostly everyone is being monitored and watched by high level leaders.
Feedback:
The big idea here is to make a contrast between the easy and comfort life of the leader where he owns a fancy, quiet room who is supervising everything in the factory and the chaotic and exhausted life of the workers.

07 Environment Design
Tool: csp and unity
Description: a colored version 2d platformer view of the market at the bottom of ancient Athens from last week’s homework. The current objects in scene includes: olive tree, statue, decoration tree, pillar, house, market, pottery for sale
I tried drawing art assets in their own layer and then set them up in unity. But I haven’t figured out how to make good 2d light in unity yet so after I set up the scene I took a screenshot and put it back to csp and added some shading preview. I think one thing that concerns me is that I haven’t determined if I want to go pure flat or with some angles in the perspective. Everything looks flat and it’s hard for me to determine the space between each object. The current floor made it looks like the camera is a little bit above the horizon, but the other sprites are still flat. Maybe I should have leave the ground flat as well. It’s also hard for me to determine the color of each sprites because im not good at drawing background, and that I drew them seperately. I also feel like the background is too big.

A blockout of the blacksmith’s room. She is the backbone of modern monster hunting society. Although she is most available to the modern hunter’s faction, the old hunters may seek out her services by appointment as well, since not many have as deep an understanding of manipulating organic beast essence. Her office contains both remains of culled monsters and your standard metalworking materials— both of which are vital in keeping the beasts and atrocities at bay.
Made with Clip Studio for iPad.

Since I had used the white shade for light, I was mostly contained to 3 shades. I used csp’s standard perspective rulers for this one and manipulated their vanishing points. I also took my layout sketch and distorted it through perspective transformation to help me begin to build upwards!
