Collecting Ideas:

I started with a few ideas that I had from the things I’m interested in + out of those I chose two which I could see myself moving further with, which was an exploration of kinetic typography but that would be difficult to showcase editorially + human experiences. 

With human experiences, I found a couple examples of this done + represented through books:

This first one is about the experiences of cultural “inbetweeners” which showcases Asian identities + how a lot of the time their names get mispronounced. I like the choice of using just two colours throughout the book, it creates simplicity + keeps the focus on the identities you’re learning when going through the book.

This second example is about sharing stories of domestic violence through an editorial project which creates a look of a furniture catalogue, as it provides the prices and names of furniture pieces. The graphic visuals also showcase the stories, which set a scene of ‘Rooms Without A View’.

I went further into real experiences + stories and started to relate them to true crime which I like to watch. I looked into the term “femicide” which is a purposeful crime against women committed by men + I wanted to steer more towards darker themes but I thought it would be too much for me + I think it would end up making me feel uncomfortable + possibly the same for others.

Hôm qua, chúng tôi chia tay rồi. Tự nhiên nghĩ giờ phải đổi thành #người mình yêu đã hết yêu mình thì thấy đớn đau quá. Vậy nên tôi mạn phép vẫn giữ hashtag cũ cho bài đăng cuối cùng này về cả hai, dẫu cho chuyện xưa tình cũ đã rơi vào quá vãng.

Khoảnh khắc nói ra lời chia tay, tôi thấy nhẹ nhõm. Em là một người tốt, tôi không muốn em vì nặng lòng tình xưa nghĩa cũ mà cứ dây dưa mãi không dứt với mối tình này. Ở bên em là vì yêu em, buông tay em cũng vì yêu em. Dù rằng từng giây từng phút tôi nghe tiếng lòng mình vụn vỡ. Làm sao mà không đau đớn được khi phải rời bỏ một người mình thương yêu suốt ngần ấy tháng ngày qua.

Nhưng tôi còn biết làm sao hơn được, bởi tình yêu này cuối cùng đã đến hạn kỳ.
