My fanfic writing process is like

*has idea* *writes down bullet points so I won't forget* *makes into better outline* *has different idea* *writes down bullet points so I won't forget* *forces myself to go back to first idea* *writes a part that is totally a one-shot but has further ideas so creates series* *has new idea too, though, and likes that one best actually so ignores the first two and finishes this one in one go and only roughly beta reads before posting* *writes drabble* *writes prompt* *remembers second fic outline from earlier, creates ao3 draft but doesn't actually add anything* *completely forgets about series from earlier* *switches fandom* *has idea*

And while that looks chaotic af at least it somehow works?? Sometimes?? Meanwhile my Thesis writing process is like

*opens draft document* *stares* *opens file titled 'ideas' to see which one I had marked yellow as To Dos* *stares* *plays bubble shooter* *remembers a thing to Google* *types five words and a url* *checks whether prof sent any advice via mail* *plays minesweeper* *goes on tumblr* *realises that when I'm not being thesis productive anyway I can at least write some fanfic* *writes fanfic* *stares at thesis draft document* *writes five words* *edits a sentence from last week* *gets distracted by food* *gets distracted by cat* *gets distracted by...* *sets alarms every five minutes so when I inevitably get distracted I'll remember to get back to work* *that somehow works and I write a few more sentences and google scholar search a paper* *stares at document for five minutes straight before deciding to just go on tumblr for the next five* *stares at document* *forgets what exactly my thesis title even is and looks it up (it's long)* *scrolls back down to where I was* *adds like two words*

So No I Can't Just Write My Thesis In Two Weeks Because I Managed The Same Wordcount In Fanfic In That Time
