6:00 a.m., you skimmed over rafayel's last message and told yourself to reply later - of course, as fate does, a super strong wanderer appeared which occupied you for an excruciating, multiple hour long fight. it was night when you returned home, stripping off your uniform and throwing your gun on the kitchen counter. You barely made it to bed, soaking your sheets in a bit of blood before completely passing out.

it was noon when you woke up again and evening when you were done with your report and bandaging your wound. finally, you were able to check your phone, and it doomed on you. rafayel's message stayed unreplied. you scrolled down his other three texts.

wincing, you sat down, your heart beating anxiously for some reason. 'what if this is it? I broke his promise. there's no reason for him to stay. it's fair, but I need him around. because...'

because you like him. it's selfish, you want him around although you barely fill his needs. suddenly, a very familiar dark cloud forms in your stomach and you feel depressed. deeming another relationship ruined by your work, you open social media to drown out the silence.

several hours passed until a knock at your door ripped you out your daze. quickly, you got up and open it. "rafayel." you say, his name coming out almost like a sigh of relief before you could register it. he was dressed in his white shirt, and white pants adorned with an intricate silver belt - he looked put together as always. you, on the other hand, were in an oversized tee, messy hair and deep eyebags with chapped lips. "hi." he simply greeted, making his way into your apartment.

you followed him, breathing anxiously at his unreadable aura. "listen, rafayel - I'm sorry, I wanted to reply and text you but.."

"you forgot." he replied, crossing his arms. there was a look of hurt and disappointment in his face. "it's not that simple." you argued, breathing in to continue, but he emotionally cut you off. "it is, though. (y/n), if you'd like me enough, a simple task like keeping me updated would be easy."

"rafayel. I like you, I like you a lot but..." you breathed in deeply, the harshness of his words getting to you enough to make your eyes teary. defeated, you sat down on your couch, burying your face in your hands. "these past days have been a lot, I could barely take care of myself and most of the time I was either fighting, passed out or tending to my wounds..." you trailed off weakly - due to your eyes being covered, you couldn't see rafayel's eyebrows raising in shock at your reaction, his arms slowly sinking.

"I swear if I'd have a normal life, I'd text you regularly, but it's not." slowly, you raise your head to meet his eyes - yours were puffy and red, tears streamed down your face. rafayel stayed silent, waiting for you to continue.

"it'd be selfish of me to wish for you to stick by me while i don't fulfill your needs, i know i'm not a good...friend. I try to do my best, rafa. you mean a lot to me, but i understand if you want to leave. you deserve someone better."

at this point, tears were streaming down your face freely, and soft sobs escaped your throat. rafayel lowered his gaze, afraid he'd sink to his knees and beg for forgiveness instead. after a while, he sat next to you, slowly intertwining his fingers with yours and brushing his thumb across your hand as he watched your body move with your sobs. "(Y/N), there is not a single part of you that is selfish."

gently, he holds your cheek and makes you look at him. his hand remains there as he continues talking.

"rather, it is me who is selfish. i crave your attention and validation, and feel hurt if i don't receive it. i'm sorry for being petty, i should've come over sooner. and..."

rafayel moves his hand to wipe away your tears and softly kisses your forehead, he smiles as he hears you breathe out softly.

"i could never bring it over my heart to part from you."

you gaze into his rich, magenta eyes and feel your heartstrings pull towards him. it's as if there were a bridge between your chests. closing your eyes, you feel your love for him blooming in the valleys of your bloodstream and bubbling out of your skin, and it weirdly feels as old as millenia, as if you'd known this love all your life, and all the lives you lived before.

"i'm glad." you smiled wobbly, "i feel the same." with a sigh, you leaned your head on his shoulder and let your body relax.

"i dunno how to feel about you calling us 'friends', though."

Melting is the first full album released by Nari. It was released on May 8th, 2024 through VIE Entertainment and Republic Records. It is available digitally and physically.

TRACK 01. Espresso (orig. by SABRINA CARPENTER) is a funk-pop English song written by Nari and produced by Julian Bunetta. On Genius, she explains that she compares herself to coffee to emphasize how energetic her partner gets with her. The lyrics further explain that she can get the guy— any guy— and she is this person’s dream come true. Nari references pop culture with Nintendo and Mountain Dew in this song.

TRACK 02. Melting (orig. by KALI UCHIS) is a dreamy love song written by Nari and Kino and produced by IO and Diplo. The song details falling in love with someone who makes you lose all your worries.

TRACK 03. Rooftop * (orig. by YOOA) is a hip-hop dance number with addictive string sounds and the booming percussion sound of an 808 bass written by Nari and Ryder Kim, produced by Jimmi. TRACK 05. Nothing (orig. by KISS OF LIFE) is a medium-tempo R&B song inspired by the 2000s written by Nari and Lainey, produced by Sade. The song is about a love reaching its end, a love that changed and the lack of emotion in the relationship.

TRACK 06. Sugar Rush (orig. by BIBI) is a playful and empowering anthem with upbeat R&B pop with a sparse hip-hop beat. It’s written by Nari and Pink Slip and was produced by Pink Slip and inverness. The song emphasizes Nari’s allure and charm while also warning those who try to take advantage. This song in particular is popular for its lyrics, hidden meaning in lyrics and surprise guest appearances by the rest of BLACKPINK in the music video.

Espresso was released first as a surprise with one teaser announced on social media on May 6th, 2024 at 12AM KST. The song was an English pre-release single.

The music video for Espresso had 76 million views in the first 24 hours. It debuted at #1 on Worldwide iTunes Songs Chart, as well as charting #1 on Bugs and Genie, #3 on MelOn, and #94 on Flo. On all music platforms, the single cover was what captured many attention.

Melting was soon announced with teasers posted on May 8th, 2024. It received over 200k pre-orders in the first 24 hours and within two weeks, it had 1.5million pre-orders.

There are two versions of the album, HEART and FACE.

Melting was released across all platforms on May 27th, 2024. All songs charted in the top 100 across Bugs, Genie, and MelOn. Rooftop debuted at #97 on Flo. The track Sugar Rush was banned from music shows.

Rooftop gained 59 million views within 24 hours, debuting at #1 on Bugs and Genie, #2 on MelOn and #97 on Flo. Nari promoted Rooftop on Korean music shows for two weeks, gaining seven music show wins during the time but in total had eleven wins for the song and performed Kitty Cat three times.

Nari promoted Espresso first, after she went to the Met Gala. She performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

She also went on Genius Verified to explain the lyrics, along with Wired! for Nari Answers the Web’s Most Searched Questions.

She was super excited to do the Puppy Interview with Buzzfeed, she even posted a selfie teaser before the video and some videos on her Instagram once the video was out.

When promoting in Korea, she made sure to go on a lot of variety shows, mostly because she never got the chance before.

She went on Jaefriends, Knowing Bros, Let’s Eat, XYOB, The K-Star Next Door with Jonathan, D&E’s Wanna Come Here, PSICK Show, and The Killing Voice. She really enjoyed being on all of them, making sure to show her appreciation for being invited.

Nari explained on Genius Verified about Teenager in Love, “It’s not about anyone you know.”

VIE Entertainment (Nari) posted a live performance and dance practice for Espresso, Rooftop, and Kitty Cat on YouTube. Along with a lot of vlogs after the era was over, including her GRWM video for the Met Gala (which was posted before), preparing for her comeback, videos of her in the studio, etc.

She also opened her own TikTok account and began posting dance challenges with other idols, along with current trending challenges. She was the first idol Jennie did the Spot challenge with, and likewise for Espresso and Rooftop.

On social media, BLINKs were more ruthless than ever with getting rid of hate posts. VIE Entertainment also had to post a statement about taking legal action against malicious posts.

If she knew anything about said malicious posts, she never spoke out against them or seemed down at any point.

Not once did Nari answer any questions about Jungkook if she was asked by a reporter who couldn’t get the memo, known for either staring at them in silence until they changed the topic or laughing and ignoring them. But everyone knew they were still together as it somehow got out that she went to visit him.

Each time she went somewhere to a known schedule, she had multiple bodyguards with her just in case. And even for her just being out, she had bodyguards with her, no matter what. Which a lot of BLINKs (and Nari’s circle) were glad for.

All in all, it was a really good surprise comeback for Nari.

you lay next to him as he tosses and turns, groaning because he can't find just the right position. you know the feeling all too well– that feeling when nothing is comfortable, and all you can do is lie awake annoyedly until you fall asleep hours later.

and of course, with jun moving around, you can't sleep either. not that you aren't sleepy, but his constant rolling around pulls you away from your slumber every time you get anywhere close to it.

there's a clock on your nightstand behind you, but you don't have the energy to roll over to check it. besides, you don't need to see the time to know the hour is late, and both you and your adorable husband need your beauty sleep.

now, he lies on his stomach, facedown in his pillow. he lets out a groan, and it reverberates into the pillow, the noise cushioned by the fabric.

you laugh. "junnie, go to sleep," you whisper.

he turns his head to the side to face you. "can't," he whines, words slightly muffled from his cheek pressed against the pillow. "will you play with my hair like you always do? please?" he asks softly, and even in the dark, without being able to see, you know he’s got that pout on his face. the one he always has when he wants something. and the one when you inevitably give it to him, because how could you resist such a sweet face?

you sigh, a smile dancing at the corners of your mouth as you scoot closer to him. you start to place your hand on the back of his head, but he wiggles away. "wait, lemme– sit…"

he shifts his weight, bouncing the mattress a little as he rolls back onto his side, facing you. "wanna see you," he says, once he's finally in the position he wants to be in.

you giggle. "it's dark, jun, you can't see anything."

"but i can see you," he murmurs, and it makes your heart swell.

you smile to yourself, moving your hand to the base of his neck and threading your fingers through his hair.

he sighs at the contact, and you imagine his eyes falling shut like they always do when you touch him, the soft, blissed-out expression that washes over his features and makes your stomach fill with butterflies.

you start to slide your hand up the back of his head, running your fingers through his hair until you find that perfect spot, just right, and he exhales softly.

you cradle his head in your hand, gently massaging his scalp with the pads of your fingers. he hums and reaches our for you beneath the blankets, lightly laying his hand over you waist.

"i love you," he murmurs, voice quickly becoming soft with sleep.

"i love you, too," you reply, and brush a fallen lock of hair out of his face with your thumb.

you can feel the atmosphere growing calmer and sleepier, and you have to fight the urge to close your eyes and let go yourself. the relaxing feeling of running your fingers through jun's soft, thick hair is lulling you to sleep as well, but you resist it, for his sake.

until you hear a sniff, followed by a shallow snore, and you know he's already asleep. you let your eyes fall shut and let your fingers give him a few last gentle strokes before sliding down to his neck, his chest, then falling down to the mattress.

with a bit of effort you push up onto your elbow, leaning over him to press a little kiss to his temple.

“Hello?” “Happy birthday bestie! I had to be the first one to tell you today!!” You look at the clock it’s 12:01. “Ava? It 12am on a school night.” “But it’s still your birthday, and you are still my best friend, and you know the rules so happy birthday goodnight” you hear the phone disconnect so confused as you set it back on the night stand. The next time you woke up it was to Melissa’s alarm from the other side of the bed. You hear her grumble before she detached herself from you to turn it off. “It’s time to get up” “nooo 5 more minutes.” You pull her back into your arms, she sighs before relaxing into your hold. “Okay fine, you are lucky you are cute” She mumbles into your collarbone placing a small kiss there.

5 minutes later another alarm goes off and you both start your day. Both dressed and out the door within 30 minutes. You will be early way early if you go in right then. So you call her from your own vehicle heading to Starbucks. “You want your usual?” “Oh sounds lovely thank you my love” you grin at the nickname. “You know if we told everyone we wouldn’t have to go in separate cars, and you could finally come to Starbucks with me in the mornings.”

You can hear her sigh from the other side of the phone. You know she wasn’t ready so you never pushed it but you have been together for 6months now and people still didn’t know, not even Barbara. You were starting to feel like a dirty secret. Something she was embarrassed about. But that is something you didn’t want to think about on your birthday. “My love you know-“ “know you aren’t ready. I know you don’t want to jinx it but I’m here for the long haul. We don’t have to talk about this right now I just pulled up to the drive through I will see you here soon I love you.” “I love you too, see you soon” you both hang up and you place the orders.

You walk in to the school setting the coffee in front of Melissa. Sitting in the seat next to her the others following soon after. “It’s my besties birthday y’all! Tell her happy birthday!” You hear a chorus of birthday wishes from everyone. You realize that Melissa has yet to say it to you today. But you shrug it off.

“So since I’m your best friend and all I decided we are going out tonight!” “Oh Ava I really don’t think-“ “oh we are going! Everyone here is invited! But you aren’t going to spend your birthday at home alone! You are young we need to be out on the town we might even get you laid tonight!” You glance briefly at Melissa’s and she is looking down at her phone apparently not listening. “Who said I was going to be alone?”

“Unless you suddenly got a girlfriend overnight you a lie and I’m not going to take it. We are going.” She pushes and the rest nod. “I hate to say it but Ava is right sweetheart you are young you don’t need to be home alone on your birthday especially since it’s Friday night” you are surprised that even Barbara agrees. “Okay fine!” You hesitate still no sign from Mel that she didn’t want you to go tonight.

“So it’s settled we will all meet at the club tonight! See you then bestie wear something sexy!” You give one more glance at your girlfriend she is still unreadable. You shrug it off and stand gathering your things “okay well I will see you all at lunch” you nod and walk to your classroom.

You end up missing lunch with your friends as one of your kids needed you so you both stayed in your class room for lunch. So it wasn’t till you got home that you saw Melissa again. She is sitting on her couch on her phone. “Hey love give me a bit to change and we can go” “I’m not going” you stop your ascension up stairs and whip around to look at her.

“What?” You ask she looks up at you. “Im not going. “What why?” “You go ahead and have fun.” “Mel why are you being like this? Come on let’s get ready and go” you urge her to get up pulling her hand softly. She remained seated watching you. “Just go you don’t want some old lady holding you back” she mumbles. You let go of her hand letting it fall between you as if she had burned you. “Mel don’t be ridiculous you know yo-“ “you need to go get ready or you will be late, and if you don’t go Ava will track you down and drag you out herself.” You snap your jaw shut looking at her hurt “you know what fine you don’t have to go with me. But I’m not going to let your sorry attitude ruin my birthday! I know for a fact that Barb is going to be there so you have no excuse!” You stomp up the stairs to get ready.

You return downstairs 30 minutes later to see her still in the same spot. You are wearing a black 2 piece that hugs your curves and some platforms. Your hair is done up and a smoky eye with red lips to complete the look. You let out a sigh “I will see you there…” you try to give her a kiss but she doesn’t move so you only manage to kiss her cheek instead.

Once you are in the bar you get dragged to the table where all of the Abbot crew is sitting even Mr. Johnson is here. You grin at all of them “hey everyone look who made it!” Ava pushes you down next to Barbara. “Well aren’t you dressed to impress mmhmm back in my younger years ooh girl” you chuckle a bit “where is Melissa?” You know where she is pouting on the couch where you left her but for the sake of the secret you ask her work wife. “I’ll give her a call” she stands walking a few paces away before Ava places a Birthday girl crown on your head and a 21st birthday sash across your chest. “Ava I’m not 21” “girl I know that but free shots are free shots!” You roll your eyes at her.

A bit later you see Barbara walk back the red head behind her. “Hey kid happy birthday!” She glances you over. “21 huh? Later that night after a couple more shots you have successfully dragged the whole group to the dance floor pit. You are all laughing as you dance together. The song change and most of them sit on the steps into the pit. You keep going despite your friends need for rest. The song ‘tonight’ by Enrique Iglesias plays and you have decided that you must preform this. The liquid courage, flooding your brain. You start singing making exaggerated movements, dancing to the song, your friends, all laughing at you as you are serenading the group. Finally as the song comes to an end, you lock eyes with Melissa singing the very end of the song to her before sitting in her lap as a big finish, she wraps her arms around your waist, holding you to her, while the whole group laughs.

You pull her up to the dance floor for some more songs, she is laughing the whole time as you are both dancing.

“They are a thing aren’t they?” Gregory says from his seat. “Mmmmhmmm” both your best friends nod. “They don’t really hide it well” Mr.Johnson replied. “Yeah it’s kinda suspicious that they share everything” Jacob shakes his head.

Additional  (Optional) Mod

I was searching high and low (even Archive.org) for Jase439′s (from Insimenator and Inteen forums) TTAB edit for the Pets+ (only OFB seemed to be available) version of the “Check Self Out” mod for adult Sims. Unfortunately, I ended up with dead links. However, the mod only required checking off Adults and Elders within the TTAB menu for the “Check Self Out” interaction.   

Conflicts/Quirks

There is a patch included for @jellymeduza’s Vampire’s Can’t Use Mirrors mod for Check Self Out and Gussy Up. They are named “zzzfway_AutoCheckSelfOutforTraits_Vampires” and “zzzfway_AutoGussyUpforTraits_Vampires” respectively. Please make sure this mod patch loads AFTER Meduza’s if you have this mod installed.

Other mod conflicts are not known at this time for the Guardian BHAVs of the above mods. As for the TTAB edit, I am unsure if there are any other conflicts besides what Jase459 has made.

Check Self Out seems to be dominant if the Sim in question has the Diva, Flirty, Irresistable, and Snob traits in addition to one of the other traits affected for Gussy Up. 

Requirements

This mod was built with the Ultimate Collection installed and may require all the EPs, but at least Pets is required. You should also have the dependencies for the trait mods to work (Easy Inventory Check, etc.) though they were not used to build this mod. The TTAB edit does not require any dependencies. 

Update (01/24/23 - 4:12AM EST) - Just a minor update with the first three links below. Please redownload, unless you’d like all your sims to autonomously check themselves out or gussy up. ;)

i'm going back home to korea today, i think i've been travelling way too much, so i'm going to go home and rest up and spend time with my family and some friends.

i boarded the plane and by that point it was 11pm and i was honestly drained. i spent a whole day exploring the more nature-y side of switzerland and the view definitely did not disappoint.

i sat myself down in my assigned seat and was so ready to fall asleep at this point. a guy walked over and sat next to me, and i bet you won't be able to figure out who was gonna be my plane seatmate for almost 12 hours. yeah it was france guy. he seemed pretty surprised to see me too i think.

after he sat himself down next to me, he looked at me, maybe i was staring too hard.. "hey" i looked at him, question marks practically all over my forehead. "can you stop staring at me" i scoffed at him, this guy is ridiculous!

the plane took off a few minutes later and i was starting to doze off, and unfortunately for me i left my neck pillow in my luggage by accident, so my head was dropping left and right.

i suddenly woke up and it felt like i was lying against something? i sat upright to see what i had been sleeping on, and it was france dude? he woke up when he felt me getting up. "you're finally up, my shoulder feels like it's about to dislocate"

'okay sorry for accidentally sleeping on your shoulder but like, rude much'

"oh shit, i'm so sorry. i left my neck pillow in my luggage and i think i just passed out suddenly" he scoffed and i was so close to losing my shit not gonna lie. but the next moment, he handed me his neck pillow and i looked at him while holding the neck pillow. "just use it, i'd rather you use my stuff than you use me" damn okay stranger. "oh, thanks?" and soon he attempted to go back to sleep.

it was currently 8:59am, which meant we still had probably less than 2 hours left of this plane ride, and i was thanking heavens because 12 hours next to this guy would've been hell if i weren't fast asleep.

france guy was moving around in his seat and i assumed he couldn't fall back asleep. i tapped on his shoulders a little to get his attention "hey, you can have your neck pillow back, seems like you can't sleep, and i'm pretty energized right now" he looked at me and sighed "it's fine, i'll just give up on going back to sleep".

after that it was pure silence. and i couldn't stand it so of course i had to open my big ass mouth.

"so.. you travel a lot?" he nodded his gaze fixed on his phone. "alone?" he nodded again still focusing on his screen. damn talking to this guy is so hard. let's bring up the past! "you remember the first time we met?" he finally looked at me. "we've met?" are you fucking serious right now.

"i bumped into you on accident in paris back in january?" he thought about it for a second before replying. "oh! i remember now, you bumped into me and almost spilt your hot coffee all over me" "hey! it almost spilt on me too okay, and i apologized for it" he shrugged it off and went back on his phone.

"you know, i kept seeing you around while i was travelling and at some point i thought you were stalking me" he looked back at me again, his eyebrows furrowed this time. "what the fuck why would i stalk you, i don't even know you?" "it happens sometimes" "hey, for all i know you could be the one stalking me right now" i was taken aback, speechless, i can't handle this guy oh my god.

"you know, your looks and personality clash a lot" he gave me a look that said 'wtf do you mean'. "you're a good-looking guy, like, i'd definitely date you if your personality was nicer" he stared at me for a while and chuckled a little. "for your information i have a great personality" "it sure doesn't seem that way" he scoffed and put his phone down before looking me in the eyes.

"you want us to get close?" i nodded.
