She had returned to her childhood hometown for the summer break, seeking solace in the familiar sights and sounds after weeks of feeling adrift in the bustling Linkon City. But despite the comfort of home, a twinge of loneliness lingered, her heart yearning for the presence of her boyfriend, Thomas, who had been preoccupied with his work.

She was in her bedroom, lost in her thoughts, when Amelia's phone chimed with a sudden message, breaking the quiet reverie. With a curious flutter in her chest, she read the words urging her to come to the beach, a message that sparked a glimmer of hope amidst the melancholy. Without hesitation, she made her way to the beach, maybe even running, anticipation building with each step.

As she neared the place, the sound of the waves crashing against the shore filled her ears, soothing her restless mind. But before she could fully immerse herself in the tranquil atmosphere, a pair of hands covered her eyes from behind, eliciting a gasp of surprise from Amelia.

She panicked for half a second, before relaxing, recognising the hands currently covering her eyes, and the smell of the rather expensive perfume she knows to be her boyfriend's.

With a laugh, she raises her own hand to lightly tug on the ones covering her eyes.

𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐑  was  within  his  own  little  world  .  a  stick  in  his  hand  as  he  wondered  through  the  forest’s  trails  .  he  saw  many  wander  through  the  forest  ,  to  get  away  from  their  kaptains  ,  general  or  to  just  get  away  with  a  lover  .  but  thomas’  was  on  a  mission  to  find  his  wife’s  .  .  .  god  he  didn’t  even  know  .  anything  ,  something  to  show  that  he  hadn’t  done  anything  cruel  .  thomas  wouldn’t  hurt  a  fly  .

Neck craned low, shoulders hunched so that he may fit into the doorframe, John Smith casts a tentative glance over his shoulder as he raps his fist, rather unceremoniously, against the door. Though he did not detect any signs that would suggest someone has followed him here, he can never be too safe.

Showing up unannounced in the dead of night is nothing but his usual modus operandi, anyway. Always last minute, always waiting for things to get so bad that he simply cannot ignore the fact that he requires medical attention any longer. This time is no different. Perhaps it is not only the doorframe, too small for the full extent of his seven feet, which has John standing bent as he awaits for Dr. Thomas to answer the door; perhaps it is the numb pain pulsating from his wounded knee, one which has been growing increasingly worse throughout the winter months, as it does every year.

“Took you long enough,” he growls when the door is finally pealed open, a pair of bloodshot yellow eyes catching the doctor’s for the briefest of moments before returning to studiously inspect the tips of John’s own boots. Perhaps it is the fact that he can no longer stand to put his weight on the old injury, rendering him incapable of performing his job, that has him in such a foul mood this particular night. Perhaps it is the fact that he must admit that he requires the doctor’s help; though it would seem that John has no intent of doing so, at least not verbally. “Let me in,” he murmurs instead, trying his best to keep his gravelly voice venom-free this time around.
