@savingthrcw (lucy) said: being soft is not a weakness.
He should let it go, he really should. It would be so much easier for him to just let it go. But something about her and her words and her entire attitude just really grinds his gears. He stops and turns on a dime to face her, one eye twitching just so as they narrow at her, a severity to his gaze.
"No? Look around, sweetheart, how many soft things have you come across up here, huh?"

"Emhmm." It's a long and drawn out sound and it's in response to every single one of those statements. Because she’s right about all of it. Things would have gone much, much differently for him had she stayed in her vault. But if he’s being honest, he’s not sure he’d want that now, which is a terrifying, concerning thought.
He sees how heavy her eyes look as she talks and he sighs. What a glutton for punishment is he that as much as this conversation has gone in a way he wouldn’t have intended, he’d still rather talk to her longer? About anything, even this. But she’s tired and needs rest if she’s to recover quickly. “You should get some sleep. I’ll keep watch.” As if that needs being said; he always keeps watch.
“Bet that would've saved you a lotta trouble,” Lucy says, watching him through her heavy-lidded eyes, a strange little smile on her face. “You'd still have your finger, too... Maybe even some answers...about your family...” If she wasn't there, he'd have had Wilzig's head a lot sooner. She doesn't know what his intentions were for it, but if he'd brought it to Moldaver he'd have found her dad in a cage. He could've asked all his questions then. “Guess I kinda...screwed things up for both of us by leaving...”

Pairing: Cooper Howard/The Ghoul x Escort!Fem!Reader
WC: 2.6k words
Summary: I've done escort!Cooper, so I thought i'd try the inverse ;) // Your favorite regular, the Ghoul, drops by at the Atomic Wrangler for a visit.
Warnings: MINORS DNI THIS FIC IS 18+, crossover (fallout new vegas and fallout tv show), smut, formalized sex work (prostitution/escort), unprotected p in v, radiated creampie (with implied radaway use), swearing, shenanigans in front of a mirror, fingering, alcohol mention, vague dom/sub dynamics, just a little fluffy, two fools who can't get enough of each other, lmk if anything else!
-------
The Atomic Wrangler was just as he remembered — swimming in smoke, as if lost in a hazy dream, the ringing of the slot machines and the clacking of dice an accompanying symphony. Drunken patrons shambling about or slumped in shadowed corners, chips spilling from their pockets. Bar fights that were quickly, and often messily, dealt with.
It wasn’t the best place to gamble, he didn’t think, especially with how well he knew the Garrett twins and their wiles. But that wasn’t the reason for his visits, anyway, so it didn’t really matter to him.
At certain tables on the main floor sat sultry figures that whispered promises of ecstatic oblivion. The deepest fantasies come true, if only for a few hours before sunrise. It was worth every cap if it was in the right company, and he happened to be very particular about who he wanted around.
He knew you usually hung in the anteroom, and he even caught a glimpse of your skin in a rather low-backed dress as soon as he rounded the corner past the front desk. James Garrett caught his eye momentarily in silent question, to which he nodded in response. That meant you’d be booked for the rest of the night – his and only his.
Since you’d transferred from the Gomorrah, you were a hot commodity around there, and therefore could charge a much higher rate. You also had the chance to pick your own clients, which hadn’t really been an option before, so you were much more exclusive because of it.
But out of the handful of regulars you’d amassed, you only had one favorite. You heard him before you even saw him, what with the telltale jingling of his spurs, and when you did see him, a slow, easy smile spread on your lips, mirroring his.
Ruggedly handsome as ever, the same easy swagger and suave edge. His hazel eyes on you felt like a promise – like a caress – and you felt a fire begin to simmer under your skin. No one had ever made you feel the way he did; How quickly he could get your blood to warm, pupils blown wide with desire. No matter how much time passed between visits, he’d become a permanent fixture in your body, impossible to forget.
“Well, well, look what the cat dragged in…” you drawled, casually leaning against the bar. “Back so soon, Cooper?”
He chuckled slightly. “Were you countin’ the days ‘til you saw me next, sweetheart?”
You shrugged one shoulder, playfully noncommittal. “Were you?”
“Maybe, maybe not,” he said, following your game. “Guess you’ll be finding out soon enough.”
You let out an amused huff, giving him a once over. “You want your usual drink?”
He nodded and you pointedly leaned over the bar for a quick word with the bartender. He noticed some other patrons craning their necks to get a better look, eyes wide as saucers at the vast expanse of exposed flesh. A few of them noticed him hovering nearby, and any who dared to make eye contact were met with a smug wink and grin.
Under his gloves, his fingers itched to touch, but he kept his hands to himself. The building anticipation would have a greater payout, he already knew, and he wanted it all to be for his eyes only.
Unfazed by the outside attention, you turned back to him with a bottle of scotch in hand and a suggestive glint in your eye.
“Lead the way, then, cowboy.”
He clicked his tongue twice for you to follow, making his way back to the main room and towards the stairs. His room — which James had given him a key to for helping with some rather pressing business — was at the very end of the hallway. It was the most spacious out of all of them, but it was sparsely decorated, only meant for temporary visits. Still, it was a nice little sanctuary for you two to escape to.
“So, what will it be tonight, hmm?” You said, setting the bottle down on top of the old dresser. “Wild cowgirl for you to tame? Or maybe you’ve got some … ailment I can take care of for you?”
You opened the closet door and took out a cowgirl costume and an old nurse’s uniform, flirtatiously raising your eyebrows at him. Many fantasies had been played out within those four walls, and you certainly didn’t mind playing a little dress-up.
“No, none of that tonight,” he said with an amused huff, sitting on the edge of the bed.
You tilted your head to one side in curiosity. “What would you have me wear, then?”
He made slow work of taking his gloves off, his eyes roaming down and then back up equally slowly until he was holding your gaze.
“Well, that’s just the thing… I don’t want you in anything at all.”
You smiled, putting the costumes away and leaning against the door as you closed it. “That can be arranged…”
You reached up to undo the top clasp of your dress, but he raised a hand to stop you.
“Woah there, I ain’t in a rush. Do it slowly…”
You complied with a small chuckle, undoing the clasp but not letting the straps fall quite yet. You turned around and then let them fall, glancing coquettishly at him over your shoulder. One corner of his lips tugged upwards in a sly grin, and he leaned forward with his elbows on his knees.
Without turning around, you shimmied it down your hips and heard his sharp inhale as he saw you weren’t wearing panties. You felt a flutter in your stomach at the sound, intoxicated by your effect on him. Still, you didn’t bend forward for him to get a better look at the apex of your thighs, wanting to string him along for a little while longer. He had said he wasn’t in a rush, after all.
As the fabric fell to the floor, you stepped out of it, only shoes left to discard. You grabbed a chair and sat across from him, extending your leg to rest it on his lap. Another playful grin on your lips as your hand snaked down to cover yourself in a faux display of demureness, your eyes downcast.
“I could use some help with my shoes, if you would be so kind,” you said, a sultry edge to your tone.
His eyes flicked down to where your hand was resting as he swallowed hard, but he kept his bravado close as he undid the straps of your high heels and carefully took them off. His hands caressed your calves but went up no further, almost like a test. You gave him a look that said good boy, but he found a challenge within that look, as well.
“Now, why don’t you come sit a little closer? Don’t much like how far you are right now…” he said.
You raised an eyebrow, practically halfway on his lap already. “That so?”
He patted his thighs. “Oh yeah, got a whole lotta space right here with your name on it.”
You chuckled, shaking your head as you stood. But before you could straddle him, he turned you around and sat you down on himself. Affixed on the wall in front of you was a dirty full-length mirror, and he kicked the chair to one side to get a better look at your reflections.
“There we go, much better,” he said, caressing your arm with one hand until it was over the hand that you were covering yourself with. “No need to be shy now. Pretty sight such as yourself… Can’t just let you miss it.”
You squirmed on his lap, but he held you fast, burying his face in the crook of your neck and kissing the sensitive skin there. You let him remove your hand and spread your legs, arching against him as his fingers lightly traced your inner thighs.
“You sure don’t waste any time,” you said, trying to sound teasing, but you couldn’t help a small gasp as he cupped one of your breasts with his free hand.
“Somethin’ about you, darlin’… just can’t seem to keep my hands to myself when I’m around you,” he rasped, nipping your shoulder with his teeth.
Slowly, his hand slipped further up, past your sternum and your throat. His fingers dipped past your lips and your tongue circled around his digits, a low hum in your chest.
“Go on, get those nice and wet for me,” he said, craning his head to look at you, hips bucking upwards as he felt the sudden suction of your mouth on his fingers. He groaned, his voice raspy as he spoke again.“Oh, just like that, sweetheart.”
You moaned, his fingers pressing down on your tongue for a moment before releasing. His hand immediately dipped down, his hips adjusting so he could keep your legs spread over his. When his fingers found purchase, you felt it surge through you, your back taut as a bow.
“Holy fuck, Cooper.” You gasped.
He chuckled smugly. “Didn’t I tell ya you’d find out soon enough?”
The words melted away before you could try to respond. Your eyes fluttered shut, head tilting back against him. He grasped your chin with his other hand, clicking his tongue in disapproval.
“Keep those pretty eyes open, darlin’. Don’t you wanna see how I’m makin’ you feel so good?”
You complied with a nod, your eyes training on your reflection. The sight of his hand’s slow, methodical ministrations on your clit, spreading your glistening slick through your folds, stoked the fire burning low in your belly.
Your eyes met his through the mirror, the intensity in his gaze nearly making you shudder. He kissed your shoulder and nipped gently at the junction where it met your neck. You squirmed against his grip, pleasure intensifying almost to the point of overstimulation.
Your voice was shaky as you said, “I-I think I’m getting close already… Fuck…”
“That so?” He hummed thoughtfully. “Better not look away again, then, ‘cus if you do, I’ll stop.”
Your brows furrowed as you tried to glare at him through the mirror. “You’re so mean.”
He chuckled, taking it as a challenge to be even meaner. His hand found a quick, sloppy rhythm that nearly had your body going into overdrive. You could feel his cock straining in his pants against your backside, heard his barely contained groans in your ear as he made sure you didn't break eye contact. The slight humiliation of watching yourself come undone – so wanton and desperate – tinged with the threat of him stopping, finally toppled you over the edge.
With a cry, your muscles seized up as you felt heat spiral outwards from your core. He worked you through it, even as your legs shook and your knees tried to draw close. In the aftermath, your body went slack against him, your breaths coming out in ragged pants. You smiled at each other mischievously through the reflection.
“I don’t know what’s gotten into you, but I can’t say I hate it…” You said, chuckling weakly.
“Oh, and that was just the start of it,” he said, voice husky. “I’m nowhere near done with you… Or did you forget how long our nights usually are?”
“How could I ever forget?”
You slid off his lap and knelt in front of him, eyes glittering as you reached to undo his pants and pull them down. But before you could even try to get your mouth on him, he hoisted you up and onto the side of the bed on your stomach. You let out a small yelp of surprise, the tips of your toes barely touching the floor as he positioned himself behind you.
“God, are you just not gonna let me do anything to you?” You teased, resting your head sideways to glance at him from the corner of your eye. “I want to touch you, too, you know.”
“You’re forgetting this is my fantasy,” he said, clicking his tongue. “And what I want right now is to make this body of yours feel as good as I know how to. Ain’t gotta do much else but let me spoil you.”
You felt him press against you, the textured skin of his cock sliding against the swell of your ass. You wiggled it a bit, half plead and half tease, eager for the stretch and weight of him inside you. You felt his hands spreading you from behind, getting a better look. A low, rough groan and he couldn’t take it anymore, notching against your entrance and pushing inside.
You moaned loudly at the immediate stretch, feeling every inch. Your torso lifted, but one of his hands came to rest on your head, pushing you back down against the mattress. With his other hand, he gripped one of your hips tightly, both possessive and ardent.
“Fuck, you’re nice and tight, sweetheart,” he rasped. “Feels so good squeezing around my cock.”
Your walls fluttered around him as if in response to his praise. He sucked in a breath through his teeth, exhaling it slowly to keep his composure. He leaned more of his weight on top of you, his thrusts hard and slow, punching breathy sounds out of your throat every time he bottomed out. You tried to get a better footing but to no avail, instead surrendering to his mercy. Or lack thereof, as it were.
The sounds you were making were loud and unrestrained, like two animals mad with spring fever. Flesh slapping against flesh, breath, and teeth, and sweat intermingling. His body pushed and pulled over you with the intensity – the violence – of rolling waves. God, you had missed this a little too much.
“C-Cooper,” you whimpered, unable to say anything else.
“That’s it. Just let go and give it to me, doll,” he panted, his movements harder and faster.
You felt yourself dissolve once more, eyes rolling back into your skull as you squeezed tight around him. He made a strangled noise, pushing through for as long as he could until he felt ecstasy wash over him as well. His warmth filled you, pushed deep inside by a few last shallow thrusts.
When he pulled out, you barely had time to catch your breath, unable to help a dizzy laugh. He pounced back on you soon after, when you’d playfully tried to crawl away from him.
It was perhaps a good thing the room had so little furniture, given that you probably would have destroyed it all, anyway. No corner was left untouched as you two seemed to play an unending game of cat and mouse that always ended the same way… only in different positions.
“You’re gonna be the death of me!” You said, collapsing on one side of the bed and tucking a pillow between you as a barrier.
He chuckled, lying on his side facing you. “Tough luck, sweetheart. Sure don’t seem like the sun will rise any time soon…”
“So that’s how it is, huh? What if I get you next?”
He smirked, a primal edge to the curve of his lips. “You can certainly try, but you better move fast, ‘cus that barrier ain’t gonna protect you from me for long.”
You bit your lip to contain a grin, feigning being aghast. Still, though, despite these threats and the imminent exhaustion, the last thing you wanted was for morning to come.
Not that you would give him the satisfaction of admitting it out loud, though. At least not unless he worked particularly hard for it…
Well, perhaps he was starting to get close enough. Maybe he would get lucky one of those nights.

Rewatch of ONLY Murders In The Building to prepare for season 4 (V)
<Part I> // <Part II> // <Part III> // <Part IIII>
Block #OMITBRewatch if you don’t want to read notes that will have spoilers up to seasons 3. Just to make it clear, while quoting, I use M, O, C for the main characters.
Also I’m putting this under a read more because it gets long. (also, also this is the fifth part and I finally added "only" to the title.)
S2 E7
Episode of Mabel.
There is Theo and that is a really nice apartment.
M: "Is that me? Did I stab someone? Again?"
Detective Williams baby is so cute! Keith.
Mabel: "Nice accesory." Theo: *Looks down at his ankle* Mabel: "You steal jewelery from dead people, and the state gives you and anklet. Kind of poetic." Theo: *slams the mug, pissed off.*
THEO DIMAS I'm deaf. I write, or use ASL _I catch only 1/3 of what you say,_ through lip-reading.
*insert that video from american psycho about the business cards.
Theo: "When you got off the train, you were in shock so I took you to my place like creep."
Theo is really nice.
Detective Williams is so great.
.... they are so stupid it's amazing... but also that apartment is poorly soundproofed
Talking about a two-men job on the toilet is a really weird thing to say.
M: "Ah, yes. The adventures of a teenage grave robber. Got it."
Theo likes the simple solutions. Nice.
Someone with frustration is playing Whak-a-mole
Crane game... my sister is so good at it. Better than Theo.
So, how did he manage to get the ring in the crane-game? Sleight of hand? He could have put it in there when Mable did not look.
Oliver probably has probably flash-back to the time Will was a baby.
The dads are consulting.
Oh Mabel :(
Of course she is angry, her dad is dying and he can't keep his promises and she does not know.
Uh oh... glitter.
That is such a good scene.
So, the background on Mable's phone... is that her fursona?
Omg... please... I know you need to look at the lips Theo, but please look at the street.
M: "Thank you for stealing my fish."
Oh right! A blackout!
S2 E8
Sith-Avenue Slasher
Something about this was correct...
Also love the fan-made merch. All the tie-die stuff.
You always get Oliver with dips.
Howard! Go for it!!
Psycharatist: "There may be more to life than cats."
... lmao Charles and Oliver bonding over the guy who operated their knees. Besties.
Howard: "Sevenlyn Marie Morris, num num!"
Smooth, Howard!
It's actually nice to see some side-characters in that episode...
Howard and that other guy are a match made in heaven... pity it does not last :/
Also the scene with Nina and the door-man is really good.
Oh... the whole house singing sound of silence. That is such a nice scene.
:(
Mabel takes the dips with her!
lmao everyone getting drunk in the lobby XD
M: "But why are you here? Other than interrogating teenage girls? Detective Kreps: "That's just one part of the job I happen to like."
YIKES YIKES YIKES
The GLITTER!!
S2 E9
Rose Cooper and Leonora Folger are the same person iirc.
Well the alimony is probably partly your fault, Kreps.
Kreps: "And she, or he, if that is your thing, they smile at you, and your whole goddamn universe turns upside down. And that's when shit gets really crazy."
M: "That is ASL for glitter." C: "Oh, that is kind of fun."
Congrats Oliver! You are the father!
O: "There's no real difference. All the European countries are esentially the same."
... boy.
Hey, Alice!
As I said, I did not like Alice but this is really tragic. It would have been nice for Mabel to have an artist as a girlfriend.
Oh lol... Rose just acted like she was Leonora.
And... now I think I remember that Oliver is lying about being greek... but it's a white lie?
25 Willow Dr Lake Placid New York
"Excessive Force Fighting Gym" ... that sounds fun and not serious at all. But gosh the upcoming scene is so good.
Hey, Teddy!
Lmao... Oliver just going for Teddy's throat.
O: "You're my son's father, you piece of shit!"
Kreps: "If I'm so stupid, how come I was able to land the smartes woman on the planet?"
It they weren't murderers their story would have been kinda cute.
Teddy: "Ow!" O: "Can I get you something!? Coffee? Water? A swift kick in the dick?" Teddy: "Look, Oliver, let me explain--" O: "Oh no, no, no. You know you don't have to. I was up all night talking to Roberta. She told me what happened." Teddy: "Did she tell you it only happened once?" O: "She said twice." Teddy: "One night, two times." O: "Well, now you're just bragging."
Mabel figures it out but comes to the wrong conclusion... I mean I would too.
Teddy's whole family was a bunch of crooks.
Teddy: "Aren't we square at this point? You send me to jail, I fuck your wife?"
Well, shit.
S2 E10
I remember that I really enjoyed the episode.
Poppy really had a shitty life.
The Mayor... yikes, yikes, yikes...
Cinda is such a bitch.
O: "Torture? Can we torture her? Charles, get your concertina and whatever you consider your 10 most intersting stories." C *rubbing his nose with his middle finger*: "Hm, let me just muse on that, uh, for a second." O *smirks*: "Mm."
No, Oliver it does not feel like a finale yet... but at least we got to see Poppy's background story.
M: "Oliver, what did we agree on?" O: "You and Charles do the talking."
I know people who are disgusted by the inside of the tomatoe but also someone who gets an allergic reaction when eating unprocessed tomatoes. I on the other hand can eat a tomatoe like an apple. And I enjoy it.
Liverwurst? Yum. Marmelade? Yum. Togther? ... nonono
Uma is great.
Lester's (Doorman) story is hardcore.
Oliver is so fast with giving away Charles' money.
O: "The sexual energy between you two was obvious. I'd say more, but this is a family murder podcast."
Charles and Oliver doing slow motion is so hilarious.
Don't waste food.
... love how Mabel ist using the ego of Poppy to confess.
Holy shit what a scene.
I remember the first time I saw that I was so freaked out.
And the fact that Cinda is now complimenting Mabel...
Again... if they weren't murderers, I would have wished Krebs and Poppy all the best.
C: "Hallelujah! It's a miracle cure!" Lucy: "Nice. you got de-dementia'd."
LMAO... How Charles tries his best to ask out Joy and luckily she understands his grunts.
Pity, that the mural is painted over.
Also it seems like Mabel and Alice stayed friends at least. Maybe dated some longer, who knows?
Awww... Will and Oliver having a moment.
I screamed when I saw Paul Rudd in that role.
But like what kind of ass do you have to be to get on the bad side of Charles?
*dramatic yodeling*

"You'd suppose right," he says, moving to stand finally, making his way toward the woman, hand already at his hip, ready to be unholstered in the blink of an eye if necessary. "I don't get paid for discussin' things, I get paid on delivery."
Though he does pause, clicks the latch back on his holster with a click of his tongue. "But I do like to make sure I get the most of it, so alive it is, but either way, you're comin' with me."
just her luck. the person had scurried off pretty quickly, leaving her a sitting duck. such was the way of the wasteland-- no one was willing to stick their neck out that far for someone else without a very good reason, usually caps. it was disheartening, but kinsey knew better.
' i don't suppose we could... discuss things first. ' her gun remained holstered at her side, though she knew it was basically useless now unless there was a miracle. ' i know i'm worth more alive than dead, for one. '

Film 451: Green for Danger (1946)
Tumblr media
Murder and sleuthing in war time
By Zeke Trautenberg
Just before it begins its descent, the roaring motor of the V-1 or “Vengeance Weapon 1” rocket shuts off. It falls silently for a few seconds before exploding upon impact. This monstrous weapon heralded the advent of new and frightening technologies of death.  Nazi Germany fired thousands of V-1 and the even more fearsome V-2 rockets against targets in the United Kingdom and Western Europe in the final two years of World War II. In his 1973 novel Gravity’s Rainbow, Thomas Pynchon captures the abject terror and hopelessness of those at the mercy of these flying missiles: “There is no way out. Lie and wait, lie still and be quiet. Screaming holds across the sky. When it comes, will it come in darkness, or will it bring its own light? Will the light come before or after?”.
The imminent threat of the V-1 hangs over Heron’s Park Hospital, a requisitioned Elizabethan manor that is the setting of Sidney Gilliat’s 1946 mystery thriller Green for Danger. The doctors and nurses of the makeshift hospital treat a steady stream of victims of the “buzz bombs." Life in the hospital maintains a semblance of normal life, with office romances and parties, but it is also a closed-off and stressful place where casualties might arrive at any time, day or night.
The film opens with a shot of an Underwood typewriter and the voice-over-narration of Inspector Cockrill (Alastair Sim) who begins to dictate a report on his investigation of a series of mysterious deaths at the hospital. The inspector’s investigation is set in motion by the death of the post office worker Joseph Higgins (Moore Marriott), who is interned at the hospital after suffering injuries from a V-1 rocket. The unfortunate postal worker meets his demise in the operating room while undergoing anesthesia. His death prompts an inquest and the investigation of the sharp-tongued inspector from Scotland Yard.
At the time he made Green for Danger, Sidney Gilliat was already an established screenwriter, director, and producer. Together with Green for Danger’s co-producer, Frank Launder, Gilliat wrote the screenplays for Alfred Hitchcock’s mystery film A Lady Vanishes (1938) and Carol Reed’s Night Train to Munich (1940), a prescient thriller set in Nazi-occupied Prague. These three films all feature byzantine plots and use psychological tension of their characters and confined settings to generate suspense. Among these films, Green for Danger stands out for the deft camera work by Director of Photography Wilkie Cooper. One notable scene is a point of view shot from the injured post officer as he is wheeled prostrate into the operating room. The camera, slightly out of focus like the disoriented patient, points upwards to the ceiling where the bright lights and air ducts deprived of their functional capacities, become strange and disturbing sources of piercing light and disembodied conversation, respectively.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The disorientation and confusion experienced by the mumbling patient Higgins permeates the film. From the very beginning, Gilliat keeps the viewer off balance. The main characters (and suspects) in the film are introduced in a long take in the operating room. As the inspector recites their names, the camera pans counter-clockwise, presenting a close-up of each suspect wearing a surgical gowns and face mask. In the context of the film, their uniforms are not just markers of their profession, but also cloaks of anonymity to hide behind.
The identities and personalities of the men and women first seen in the operating room are revealed as the body count piles up. They are the playboy surgeon Doctor Eden (Leo Genn), the brooding Doctor Barnes (Trevor Howard), the traumatized Nurse Sanson (Rosamund John), the distraught Nurse Bates (Judy Campbell), the gregarious Nurse Woods (Megs Jenkins), and the charming Nurse Linley (Sally Gray). Like Agatha Christie’s novel And Then There Were None (1939), the film derives suspense from the mutual suspicions and conflict among this coterie of colorful characters in close quarters. They are bedfellows and neighbors living together under the stress of war and the deadly parabola of German rockets.
Although he does not appear until the film's second act, the supremely self-aware Inspector Cockrill is the film's most captivating character. In his voice-over narration, he delights in his powerful and disruptive role: “Voices were hushed and all eyes turned upon me. Who was the guilty one? When will he be arrested? Who will be next? That is what they were thinking. I found it all tremendously enjoyable.” Like a cross between Inspectors Dupin and Maigret, Cockrill mixes enlightened reasoning with a keen social awareness. However, it is his passion for detective fiction that enables him to solve the murders. Fashioning himself into an author of the mystery novels he so enjoys, Cockrill restages the initial crime. Although he solves the crime, the results are tragic. The inspector's intervention precipitates a final spasm of violence that demolishes the characters' façades of stoic endurance and calm. Beneath the V-1, there is only naked fear.

"And here I thought you might be a slow learner." And she's right, he is questioning her choices. Regardless of whether the dog is useful and for the time being it's in their best interest to keep her alive and healthy, that might not always be the case. This golden rule of hers doesn't work so well up here, not when it's a one-way street.

When the Ghoul speaks, she glances up at him with a frown. “I don't think that's true. Cooper eyes the younger man, the ridge of his brow quirking at the statement. "Now those are fightin' words," he replies, his head canting to the side, eyes narrowing. He's a distrustful sort of man--200 years in the Wasteland will do that to you and he was already well on his way being so before the bombs dropped. "I hope for your sake that wasn't a threat."

10 Characters, 10 Fandoms
In no particular order, I now would like to present to you - 10 of my own fictional 'crushes.'
(Let me be clear - I live in my little fantasy worlds, and escapism is my crutch; I have far more than ten).
Let's goooooo!
1. Julian "Ilya" Devorak (The Arcana: A Mystic Romance)
Tumblr media
I mean - obviously. As amazing as the main six are, Julian will probably be my hands-down favourite. He's dramatic, he's witty, he's dashing, he's romantic, he's hilarious, and he can pull off an eyepatch better than anyone I can think of.
Also, he has that sub energy in a way that made me realize that I am, in fact, into that - especially in his case.
Look, I get that most of the NPCs and traveling companions in Skyrim have the character depth of a puddle, but gods-dammit, if I didn't fall hard for this one.
2. Farkas (The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim)
Tumblr media
Aside from the fact that he is, as far as I'm concerned, one of the most attractive characters in the game, he's also kinda sweet.
You can bet that if I'm playing Skyrim, this werewolf will always be end-game for me.
Yes, yes - I know. Of all the characters from this universe I could have been drawn to, THIS is the one that turned my head? I dunno what to tell ya.
3. Sandor "The Hound" Clegane (A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones)
Tumblr media
He is likely to be one of the most 'toxic' ones on my list, and of course, if any man were to pull half of what he probably would in real life, I'd kick him to the curb in a heartbeat, but something about this character just works for me.
He's built like a brick shithouse, he's protective to a fault, he's dark and brooding, he's a big ol' grump, and he was there looking out for Sansa and Arya when he could have easily just left them to their fates.
I adore this character. ♡
4. Beelzebub (Helluva Boss)
Tumblr media
When Helluva Boss came out with this character, I was instantly smitten. The universe Vivzie Pop has created is full of characters that could have been on this list (Cherri Bomb, Alastor, Carmilla Carmine, Lucifer, Lilith, etc), but this character, even having only appeared in a single episode, left a lasting impression! ♡
She's the life of the party, and a sweetheart to boot - and I am here for it.
Astarion had me reeling well before I'd even had a chance to play the game for myself. Between the writers, the character designers, and the legendary voice actor (Neil Newbon), Astarion truly stands out even in the game's incredible, all-star cast.
5. Astarion (Baldur's Gate 3)
Tumblr media
Yeah, yeah - call me basic. But come on - I mean, this character is absolutely irresistible.
Look, Sinbad is cool and all, but Proteus was always my favourite. He's handsome, he's responsible, he's loyal to a fault, and he's the type to always do the right thing, more concerned with the spirit of the law over the word of the law.
That, and truth be told, I'm a sucker for a good vampire romance - and that leg hook. ♡
6. Proteus (Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas)
Tumblr media
I mean, I like a bad guy a lot of the time, but this man has a heard of gold, and I adore that about him.
I know, I know - two characters in one entry may technically be cheating, but I honestly couldn't choose. And this is my damn list entry, so bite me. 😜
7. Charon/Fawkes (Fallout 3)
Tumblr media
Keeping with my odd habit of falling for... unconventional characters, these two are fitting in their own ways.
Then, there's Charon - look, my first impression of this Ghoul is hiring him and watching him immediately blast Ahzrukhal to bits with a point-blank shotgun blast to the face - and that's just fine by me. From that point on, he was my main companion throughout the majority of my playthrough, and for some reason, he grew on me fast. Don't get me wrong, Cooper Howard is ✨️ foine ✨️ but I like to think that Charon (and for some, Hancock) walked so Cooper could run.
On one hand, Fawkes (despite being a bit ol' super mutant) is such a kind, thoughtful and heroic character with a great head on his shoulders, despite his circumstances. It does also help that I feel much safer in the game with him as a companion - and super mutants and ghouls deserve love too, dammit (well, okay, not all super mutants because the other 99.9% of them are about as bad as they come, but you know what I mean). That, and with me being a tall person who typically does the protecting in real life, it's nice to have a character that could make me feel small.
He's tough, he's sarcastic, he's misunderstood, and I adore his dynamic with Rebecca throughout the game. Resident Evil 0 may be pure cheese, but I am here for it.
8. Billy Coen (Resident Evil 0)
Tumblr media
Let's face it; the Resident Evil universe is chalk-full of damn well godlike attractive characters, but Resident Evil 0 was one of the first games I ever played in the series, and right from his first appearance in the game, I was completely smitten with Billy.
Now the poor guy's basically been born into a n Awoken vessel with zero context of why people just want to shoot him in the face. Did you know his ghost sings him lullabies?
9. Crow (Destiny 2)
Tumblr media
I know, I know. 'b U t H e K i L L e D c A y D e - 6' - *slap* No. Uldren killed Cayde - Crow is NOT Uldren. That's just how the lore works.
Oof - my heart. Poor baby bird. 😭 Despite everything that's happened, and how tragic things have been for him ever since the moment he opened his eyes, he still has so much try. He wants to be better. He wants to help. He wants to take responsibility and accountability for actions that weren't even his, but he's seen the impact and the effect Cayde's death has had on others, and he's stopping at nothing to just be the beat version of himself that he can. He makes mistakes, he tries to get better, and that's all any of us can do. And I love him for it.
To wrap up the list, I wanted to go with the very first fictional crush that I can remember having! I was head over heels for this character for a loooooong time, and even now, almost 25 years later, he's still got it. ♡
10. Kakashi Hatake (Naruto)
Tumblr media
10 Charachters, 10 Fandoms
Thank you @rowanisawriter for giving me the opportunity to fangirl about my fictional crushes.
Tagging @spacejammie-eimmajecaps, @ashamefulplace and @the-lastcall (and anyone who wants to tune in).
I wasn't sure if I should do this chronologically, or in order of how much I've simped for these people, so let's just get to it:
P.S.: you'll get kudos (and maybe candy) if you pick up on the common themes here.
1. Zuko - ATLA
Tumblr media
He was my first fictional crush.
I would write self insert fic about him (which never saw the light of AO3 thankfully), and I would rewatch all of ATLA just to his character go from "I can fix him" brat to adorkable edgy brat.
2. Bill Cipher - Gravity Falls
Tumblr media
He had what I at the time called the "sexy British accent". I never even joined the school of thought "he'd burn the whole world down but me". I was chill with burning.
3. Bucky Barnes - MCU
Tumblr media
And the bad boy parade continues. I firmly believed that I could fix him, and going back to the (once again thankfully unpublished) self insert slash fics of the time, I realise that I had no idea what in him needed fixing.
4. John Hancock - Fallout 4
Tumblr media
Nothing makes me fall harder for a sad meow meow than him going "I'm gonna stop bugging you with my problems, I know I'm too fucked up to love".
I have a save file right before that convo, and I like to revisit it every so often.
5. Egor Serling - Deathloop
Tumblr media
While on the topic of sad meow meows, let me introduce you to mister "I've been invisible my whole life 🥺". He's pathetic and slightly unhinged, what is there not to love? ( y/n in my fic about him agrees).
6. David Sarif - Deus Ex
Tumblr media
It's hard to pick only one character from the DX games, but I think "Daddy Sarif", as I affectionately call him whenever he's brought up in conversation, belongs here.
He is rich, smart, and believes the illuminati want to tear down his company (and has 0 evidence to back that up).
7. Crosshair - Clone Wars: the Bad Batch
Tumblr media
A sad meow meow, a bad boy, and white hair? Can a man be more perfect? Well he's also a sniper ...
He's like Egor, but he'll talk back when you tell him to get on his knees, you know?
8. Billie Lurk - Dishonored
Tumblr media
You know the jist by this point, sad, with questionable morals, daddy issues, and missing an arm.
My favourite thing about her is how she goes "this is a robbery" with an audible smirk, as she robs a bank. And also that she kept the creepy art project her girlfriend gave her a decade ago. How sweet is that?
I need to write a self-insert x her fic. But I don't have any Dishonored OCs :/
9. Alyx Vance - Half Life
Tumblr media
She was my first girl crush. And I still remember the exact moment I went "damn that chick is cool". It was shortly after reuniting with Barney, when I had to shoot my way through some stupid combine stronghold, and Alyx just crawled through the vents and waited for me on the other side.
(She is the reason I have £500 saved to one day buy a VR set)
10. Bo-Katan Kryze - the Mandalorian (no this isn't cheating, it's a different sub-fandom XP)
Tumblr media
Is she just a mommy version of Alyx? Maybe. But the Mandalorian (the TV series), sure helped with the popularity of her character... (I'm talking about that one ass scene).
She also has that sad kitty side to her, when she sits alone in her massive space castle after all her friends have left her.

---------
Sounds in the middle of the night, a distant clamor that sharpened into voices as you regained consciousness. You sat up, disoriented and wide-eyed. The ghoul crouched nearby, immediately alert, hand on his holster.
“What’s–”
He put a finger to his lips, fixing you with a glare and a slight shake of his head. Dread immediately curdled in your stomach. Ever so slowly, you lifted yourself onto a crouch, grabbing your crossbow.
Moonlight faintly filtered through a window caked with years of dirt and grime. The near complete darkness made the shadowed objects around the room morph into ominous, bulky shapes, exacerbating your fear. There was a momentary silence, in which both of you stayed still, listening.
The two of you had holed up for the night on the top floor of another dilapidated building. It sat on the outskirts of what used to be Shady Sands, a town that had been re-bombed years prior. The risk of running into trouble was much higher, as there was a lot more foot traffic. There was still plenty to scavenge, after all.
And not only did you have to worry about mutants or raiders, but also knights of the Brotherhood of Steel. One of their bases was closer than you’d like, and you’d heard the rumble of their choppers in the distance while you skirted the enormous crater where the city once stood.
According to the ghoul, you were only a few days away from Axl’s main compound. Without either of you acknowledging it, you’d slowed down the pace. The moments of silent companionship stretched like lingering summer sunsets, and yet somehow, they were still not long enough. At times, you even felt the same way you’d felt at the outcrop, bordering on serene.
It seemed surreal that your destiny was just within reach. Though you had been preparing for years, letting grief and rage carry you through even the toughest obstacle, you felt hesitancy for the first time. A part of you did not want to face the stark reality of it quite yet, not knowing how things would go down once you got to your destination.
It wasn’t necessarily that you had a fear of death – you lived so closely with it that you didn’t flinch at its inevitability. Only at its abject cruelty; The way it striked indiscriminately, with disregard for those left behind.
What you worried about was living through the whole ordeal and coming out the other side alone. The ghoul had no fealty to you, much less… attachment. You’d fooled around a couple more times throughout the journey, but it was all carnal pleasure – a lesson that your body was not just an instrument of brutality and survival. You’d let yourself become soft and pliable, like putty in his hands.
But that wasn’t to say he was tender, necessarily. There’d been no kisses between you – though you sought them in earnest – and he had not yet taken you, as he put it. His biting remarks weren’t nearly as sharp anymore, though, and you’d caught him being more protective of you. Not to mention, he always made sure you were never lacking RadAway.
For your part… You thought it was gentleness you felt, though you still couldn’t quite put a name to the way you were feeling. Perhaps just comfort was enough to describe it, interestingly enough.
Barks of laughter sounded a little clearer, reminding you of the situation at hand. A few crashes followed, like things were being thrown about. It definitely sounded like they were inside the building, you realized with growing terror. How close were they? And how many of them?
“I should go give these visitors a warm welcome, don’tcha think?” the ghoul whispered, unholstering his gun. “It’s only polite.”
“Don’t you mean we?” You whispered back.
“No, y’ain’t comin’ with. I don’t need you getting in the way,” he said as he stood up. “Not many places to hide up here, so you best start lookin’.”
“You can’t just make m–” You started to protest, also standing up, but in two silent strides, he was right in front of you, holding your chin firmly.
For the briefest second, he seemed to be debating something. His eyes searched yours as if he would find the answer there. Another crash, most likely on the floor just below, and his lips thinned into a grim line as he made up his mind.
“Listen…” he said, no time to waste. “The name’s Cooper. Holler it if you need help. Keep an eye out, but don’t let anyone see you.”
With that, he let go of you and slipped out of the room, not looking back once. You stood there for a moment, dumbstruck, his name rattling around your head like a pinball.
But you had to shake yourself out of it, quickly scanning your surroundings for a place to hide. He’d been right about there not being many options, but you hadn’t realized there were virtually none at all in that room.
Except… there was a broken window on the far wall, and you avoided stepping on shards of glass as you made your way over. Right outside, there was a rusted fire escape, ladders leading up and down.
You leaned out of the windowsill and looked up at the night sky, spotting the big and little dippers. It was lucky that the moon was almost full, not leaving you completely blind. You swung one leg over the windowsill and begged the stars – anything up there that could be listening – that the fire escape didn’t collapse under you.
It groaned slightly as you lowered yourself onto it, making you wince, but thankfully it was pretty sturdy. Still, you tried not to think too much about the height, stifling the vertigo that threatened to creep in. It was then that you heard yelling, accompanied by a barrage of gunshots. You felt a sharp pang of worry for Cooper, but you knew he could hold his own.
Out in the open, you were even less safe, but while you couldn’t really see anyone down below, you knew better than to descend. So, you used the more precarious ladder to ascend instead. Muscles tense as it shook and rattled, your palms sweating, but it held your weight.
Breathlessly hauling yourself onto the rooftop, you first made sure you were alone before lying on your stomach near the edge, crossbow ready. The scuffle continued below, and you hoped all the noise didn’t attract even more unwanted guests.
Time seemed to take a liquid form as you waited, slipping through your grasp unnoticed, your focus on the unrelenting night. The animal instinct to survive had kicked in, blocking out your fear and slowing your heartbeat down.
Your father’s patient voice was at the back of your head. “Remember, when it comes down to it, calm and focus is what it takes. You’re more likely to make a mistake otherwise, a deadly one.”
Suddenly, a whistle rang out – a high note shortening into a low one. You didn’t move at first, but then you adjusted your position slightly to try and get a better look at the source. A head poked out of the broken window below, and your finger was instantly on the trigger.
Cooper raised his hands in mock surrender, an amused, sly grin on his face. Your muscles immediately relaxed as you exhaled the breath you’d been holding.
“Jus’ me, cowpoke,” he drawled. “It’s clear now. Get your ass down here before I come get you.”
You found yourself smiling with relief as you put your weapon away, climbing down the ladder with less care than when you were going up. You stumbled into him as you dropped back onto the fire escape, losing your balance.
“Woah, easy there,” he said, steadying you but keeping you close. “Y’really missed me that much, darlin’? I was only gone for an hour.”
You shoved away from him, rolling your eyes. You noticed he was splattered with blood, some having transferred onto your clothes. None of it seemed to belong to him, though, which was another small relief.
“How many?” You asked, deflecting his question.
“Too many for my likin’, and y’know I like myself a crowd,” he said. “Most of ‘em had Axl’s brand, others seemed like newbies. Fuckin’ amateurs, all of ‘em.”
You swallowed with bitter distaste as you heard that name. Surely the death of a group of his men wouldn’t go unnoticed, so that meant you had less time to make a move. The two of you had discussed some plans of attack, but you hadn’t chosen any course of action yet.
You thought of the bottles of Buffout you’d scored in Filly, unbeknownst to him. You’d gotten them as a last resort, not stupid enough to believe the two of you would be able to take on a whole compound of raiders just as you were.
You crossed your arms over your chest. “What now?”
“We loot ‘em, and then we get a move on as soon as dawn comes.”
“No rest for the wicked,” you sighed, even if you were no longer tired.
“Ain’t that the truth,” he chuckled. “But you were a good girl tonight, listenin’ to my orders.”
You bit down a grin and climbed in through the window so he couldn’t see the flustered look on your face. He checked the hallway as you gathered the rest of your stuff, and then you followed him out of the room, unable to stop the warmth spreading in your chest.
“Cooper?” You whispered, barely wanting to disturb the silence. “Thank you, again.”
Silence hung for a moment, and you thought he wouldn’t respond at all.
“That’s twice now,” he said, glancing over his shoulder at you. “Don’t think I’ll forget your debt after all this.”
That warmth exploded into fireworks and oh, you knew you were doomed either way.
—-----------------------------------
The compound was larger than you’d imagined, visible from a great distance. As soon as you’d crested the hill, you’d felt like a stone dropped into your stomach. The sun had set an hour ago, so the cover of darkness was to your advantage. No turning back now.
But before Cooper could take another step forward, you grasped his arm without thinking. He frowned as he looked down at your hand, then up at your face.
“Y’ain’t havin’ second thoughts, are ya?” He asked. “Little too late for that nonsense.”
You shook your head. “It’s not that, it’s just… maybe we need to reassess our strategy before we do anything hasty. I could use some more rest, too and–”
“Quit it,” he snapped. “What’s the matter with you? You anxious?”
How could I not be? You thought to yourself. You were braced for a fight, itching for it, even. It had made sleeping impossible the previous nights, no matter how much Cooper had tried to force you to rest. The constellations in the sky seemed to brighten the closer you got to the compound; Guiding the way, granting you strength.
But you wanted one more moment with him, just as you were then. So you gave into foolishness, pulling him in as you stood on your tiptoes to bring your lips to his. He flinched, surprised, gripping you in return. You were ready for him to shove you away, but when he didn’t, you placed a hand on his chest.
His lips were chapped, but not unpleasant. Warm, too, and set firmly at the first delicate brush of your lips. You heard a grunt low in his throat as he felt the tip of your tongue swiping at his bottom lip, coaxing, and it was then he snapped out of his shock.
The way he kissed you was rough and hungry, with a certain desperation you knew he would never admit out loud. Your tongues tangled, exploring each other’s mouths – though, truly, his was dominating yours. He gripped your hair, keeping you from escaping, even if it was the last thing you wanted to do.
But before you could get too deep into the kiss – reaching another point of no return – he pulled back, searching your face. Felt fire in his loins as he saw the glazed look of desire in your eyes, but he had to bat it away for the time being.
“Should’ve jus’ said you were needy,” he murmured. “But then again, you always are.”
A faint smile at his teasing, but he noticed the turmoil beneath. “Cooper...”
He let go of you, sobering up and slipping back into his usual prickly demeanor. The times called for it after all; He knew you needed that strength, too. He cleared his throat and glanced back at the compound, trying to think. An idea suddenly came to mind, and he couldn’t help a lopsided grin.
“I say we burn the whole place to the ground,”  he said, tilting his head towards it. “And when they’re runnin’ around like chickens with their heads cut off, I’ll carve you a path towards him in the chaos.”
You froze, eyes widening, momentarily unsure of what to say. “I thought you said you had business with him, too.”
He shrugged, looking away. “You’ll settle the score for the both of us.”
The enormity of this statement — this unspoken gift — rocked you to your core, making you take an involuntary step forward. You thought to reach out to take his gloved hand, a rare sob clogging your throat, but you knew it would ruin the moment.
You would find a way to thank him later, when all was said and done.
—————————————
It was both fortunate and unfortunate that the raiders had stocked up on so much fuel. To them, it was most likely a precious commodity. To you, well… It was merely a means to an end — A conveniently deadly one.
In the darkest hour of night, Cooper had slipped into the encampment, silent as a shadow. You decided to knock back some Buffout and wait for the mayhem to start. He’d told you to stay hidden until the fire had really taken, but you were already bouncing around impatiently, starting to feel the effects of the chem.
The sharp tang of the fuel reached you in the breeze, and you clasped the handle of his machete with a white knuckled grip. Though you had weapons, he’d insisted you carry it, just in case. It brought you some comfort to have it, as if it was an extension of him.
In the distance, there was the sound of a small explosion. You jumped, but didn’t make a move yet. Those within the encampment started to rise, their voices confused and alert. Every single one of your muscles were poised to run, your senses screaming at you to spring forward. Pupils fully dilated, mind sharper than ever. You briefly wondered if that was how prey drive must feel. Buffout’s no fucking joke.
Instead, you slowly skirted the perimeter, keeping to the shadows. The voices raised and beneath them, there was the dragging hiss of fire igniting, catching hold of everything in its path.
Another explosion, this one much closer, if the subtly trembling earth was any indication. And so commenced the cacophony of chaos, though there was one word among the screams that you were able to distinguish – Ghoul!
The fire was rapidly spreading, so much so that you could feel its incandescent heat, sweat beading all over your face. Show time. You sprang up from your haunches and scurried to the nearest opening.
Things were blurry from then on. You had more than a few close brushes with certain death, but every time, without fail,  a whizzing bullet would be your salvation. But that wasn’t to say your machete went unused, blood spattering you like a warrior’s anointing.
Axl’s main quarters were, unsurprisingly, harder to break into. Cooper took care of it, disposing of the raiders that were guarding their leader. The room was cramped with all sorts of loot, including hundreds of caps, perhaps more. Weapons, as well, and not to mention an assortment of Chems.
Axl himself was a large man with long, wild hair that was streaked with grey. He was wearing armor made of scraps and he was riddled with scars, one of his eyes missing. The one remaining glared at the two of you – just as mean mugged as you remembered – but he only seemed to recognize Cooper.
“Surprised to see me?” Cooper said, grinning easily. “Suppose you were so cocksure I wouldn’t discover your ruse, sendin’ me on that wild goose chase.”
“It was a perfectly valid bounty, guess you just didn’t read the fine print.” Axl smiled cruelly in return, his eye returning to you as you took a step forward, teeth bared. “Who’s this bitch? Your guard dog?”
In the next moment, his knee exploded in a spray of blood and gore as Cooper shot him, ripping an agonized howl from his throat as he collapsed.
“Since nobody taught you any fuckin’ manners, I thought I might as well do it,” Cooper said, trying to sound bored despite the rage in his tone.
“You stupid motherfucker! I’m gonna … Kill you for this!” Axl managed to growl, writhing on the floor in torment, pathetically trying to drag himself towards any nearby weapon.
Cooper ignored the threats and nodded towards you. “All yours, cowpoke. Best hurry now, fire’s still spreadin’.”
You held his gaze, hoping your eyes could communicate all you wanted to say. Things took a dreamlike quality, time narrowing down to that very moment. You nodded back, and there was the ghost of a smile on his face. You drifted forward, the past and the present intermingling in your mind.
The memory of your father’s laughter. Years of adventures and survival and the foolish belief that you would always have each other. The startled look on his face as the bullet went straight through his jugular. How he’d pushed you to safety right before his body slumped over. The glimpse of his killer’s face, which had branded itself in your mind.
Now, you had it in front of you once more, right where you wanted it. And not a hint of doubt clouded your mind.
You raised the machete over your head–
“This is for my father, you son of a bitch.”
– And swung it down in a swift, deadly arc.
—------------------------------------------------
You weren’t sure how you were walking, but you knew you needed to get a safe distance away from the burning encampment. Cooper held you to him as you trembled all over, adrenaline leaving your system in hot and cold waves.
“There, there, you’re alright,” he soothed, his voice uncharacteristically soft. “We’ll stop soon, I promise. Come down’s a bitch on that one, ain’t it?”
You nodded, having confessed to the Buffout earlier, cold sweat running down your back. “I feel like I need to sleep for a thousand years.”
He chuckled. “I’ll give you a night, sweetheart. Maybe a couple, If I’m feelin’ generous. I ain’t done with you yet, remember?”
You peered up at him, one corner of your lips curling up in a smirk. “Oh yeah?”
“Oh yeah,” he confirmed. “Matter of fact, I think it’ll take you those thousand years to repay all your debts.”
“I can start tonight.”
“Easy there, cowgirl. If I were you, I’d use my time wisely and rest,” he said pointedly. “You know I don’t play around.”
“Hmmm, I don’t know, Cooper. I’m still feeling pretty restless,” You said, lying through your teeth. Exhaustion ran deep, but that wouldn’t stop you from seeking him, eager to become soft once more. At his mercy.
He hummed in thought, eyes flicking down to you, nonchalant. “Guess I might just have to put you to sleep, huh?”
You grinned, biting your lip and pressing yourself closer to his side. You found a small, rundown shack to hole up in, and he poked his head in to make sure there were no rad roaches or mole rats.
There was barely enough space for the two of you, but you didn’t mind. He threw his coat on the floor and you set your stuff down before he was cornering  you. He tugged off his gloves, tossing them aside.
“First thing’s first, gotta get you out of these filthy clothes,” he husked, hands settling on your hips, fingers slipping under the hem of your shirt.
He undressed you methodically, enjoying the slowness of it. Revealing more and more of that soft skin he loved to touch, and peeling away the brutality of the night. A hum of appreciation as his hands began to roam, tugging you closer and lowering you onto his coat in an all too familiar way.
“Much better,” he murmured, feasting his eyes and making sure you were unharmed in equal measure.
A few scrapes and bruises, but you’d live. He’d done a good job, all things considered. He let out a low, appreciative whistle, barely able to keep his hands to myself.
Your eyes were shiny with want as you looked up at him, lips parted, body taut with anticipation; Shuddering for an entirely different reason. His nails trailed up your thigh as he leaned forward, hovering over you.
“Well, ain’t you the gift that jus’ keeps on givin’?” he rasped, kissing a spot on your jaw just beneath your ear. “All mine to unwrap and play with.”
You nodded, moving your face so his lips would meet yours. But he held back with a tsk.
“Say it f’me, darlin’.”
“All yours,” you sighed, a teasing smile on your lips. “For the next a thousand years or so.”
“That so?” His hand came up to grasp your face. “We’ll see about that.”
He kissed you then, tongue invading your mouth, licking your upper lip in a way that had you whimpering. It was lazy and indulgent, his free hand slowly trailing down your front.
The same hands that had caused so much destruction now coaxing a fire of a different kind. The night’s events were banished to the periphery of your mind, a languid haze taking over.
And then his fingers reached their target, and he moaned into your mouth as he parted your slick folds and discovered just how wet you were. Unfurling like a flower at his touch, chest heaving, arching against his hand.
You keened as he plunged two fingers inside you, the pad of his thumb pressing against your clit. Drawing circles in that teasing way he knew would have you bucking under him.
“That’s it, nice and slow,” he husked, pulling back to look at your face. “Make those pretty sounds for me.”
It was hard to hold his gaze — much less focus — as he deftly managed to pump his fingers and move his thumb. Your brain nearly short circuited as he found a rhythm that had you dangerously close to the edge… but also left you craving more.
“Fuck,” you gasped, clutching the wrist of the hand that held your face, if only to anchor yourself to something.
His grin was roguish. “Yeah? Gonna give me one like this?”
You tried your best to keep it at bay, wanting to save it for the melding of your bodies, but he could feel the flutter around his fingers.
“Please, I-I want your cock…” you pleaded. “I need you inside me.”
A soft chuckle to conceal the low groan in his throat, the hunger growing within him.
“In time,” he said. “Nobody said anythin’ about you only cumming once, honey.”
With that, his fingers doubled their effort. Your back arched off the ground as you felt pleasure quickly building inside of you — a dam ready to burst.
A choked sound left you as you tumbled over the edge without warning. Muscles clenching as you felt the orgasm rippling outward, blissfully emptying your mind of anything else.
“There’s a good girl,” he praised, feeling the tight squeeze of your cunt around his fingers, his cock twitching painfully in his pants. “See? I knew you could give it to me.”
Your head swam as his hands withdrew. You heard the soft rasp of his zipper being undone and the clink of his belt. Eager, you looked down as he nudged your thighs further apart with his knee, slotting his body between them.
The slick, flushed head of his cock encircled by his fist, pumping himself — large and hard and textured just like the rest of him. He let spit fall from his mouth onto your clit, spreading it with the shaft of his cock as he rutted against you.
Your legs jerked a little with the stimulation against your still puffy clit, but needy whines still poured from your lips like the sweetest melody to his ears.
You knew better than to tell him not to tease you, instead hitching your hips to meet his movements. He growled, barely able to hold back by that point. You softly sighed as your knees pressed against his sides.  The head notched at your entrance and he pushed inside, thrusting shallowly to open you up further as he reached halfway.
“Fuckin’ hell, you’re tight,” he rasped as you clutched his arms. “Greedy cunt can’t help squeezing me, huh?”
Before you could even try to respond, his hips snapped a little more roughly, finally burying himself to the hilt. A shared exhale as he bottomed out, fully stretching you.
“C-Cooper,” you breathed. “Fuck, please, keep going.”
“I’ll take care of ya, don’t you worry,” he said, voice ragged.
He grasped your hips hard enough to bruise, pulling back only to slam forward again. Tugging you to meet his thrusts – long and deep – and you submitted amiably. Soon, the room was filled with the obscene, slapping sound of your bodies joining. Your moans spiraling in a hypnotic repetition, your eyes heavy-lidded as you lifted your head to get a better look of him driving into you.
“Takin’ me so well,” he groaned. “Pretty lil pussy made just for me.”
Your ankles pressed against his lower back, urging him on, not wanting to separate from him for even a moment. Sweat dotting your brow and stray tears of overstimulation on your lash line. You were everything worth adoring, in his eyes.
One hand reached up to paw at your breasts, which he’d been watching bounce with each one of his thrusts. Pinching the nipples between his fingers, drawing a small yelp from you, but feeling you clamp down on him at the mix of pleasure and pain.
“O-oh, I’m s-so close… Cooper,” You gasped, and he felt your legs start to tremble.
“Go on, sweetheart, give it to me,” he urged, pushing your legs further up and adjusting his angle. “Wanna feel you come all over my cock.”
Somehow, he felt much deeper that way, pounding at your cervix in a way that had you practically yowling. A momentary dizziness as if you were teetering at a great height… and the second orgasm hit you ruthlessly, forever ruining you for anybody else that wasn’t him.
He let out a long, rough groan, and heat flooded inside of you as he also came. He fucked you through it, hips stuttering as he emptied out.
In the come down, you were both panting hard, drunk on endorphins. All energy sapped out of you, lying boneless on top of his coat. He chuckled at the sight of you, something dangerously close to fondness in his amber eyes.
“Little late to ask if you got protection, huh?”
“You know I keep that RadAway on me,” you rasped, smiling weakly.
“Atta girl. And speaking of,” he murmured, pulling out of you and leaving you achingly empty.
Your vision swam as you watched him tuck himself away, making his way towards his pack. But by the time he found the distinct yellow IV bag, you were slipping into the best sleep you’d ever had.
—————————————
It was well past morning by the time you woke up. The sun was high, and you felt its heat wafting in through the doorway. Cooper wasn’t around, but you were relieved to see his things were still there.
You noticed he’d cleaned you up to the best of his ability, but you were still naked. You winced as you sat up, stretching your arms over your head. Slowly, you stood up and gathered your clothes from around the small room.
Still, despite all the aches, you felt as if a huge burden had been lifted off your shoulders. The pain of remembering had turned into a dull throb which would take more time to fully heal. At least now you could focus on the good memories, no longer haunted by the need for justice.
Freedom was at your fingertips – to choose, to live. Even the sky seemed a little bluer that day.
As you finished getting dressed, you heard the clink of spurs growing closer, his figure hovering in the doorway.
“How’s my little killer?” Cooper said, leaning against the frame, arms crossed over his chest.
“Like I’ve been run over,” you said, grinning. “But good, otherwise.”
“Good. It’s about time we get up outta here. I let you rest more than enough.”
A flutter in your chest at the word we, reminding you that perhaps your freedom would be partial, but you didn’t mind as long as it was in his company.
“Right, where to next?” You asked, hauling your pack onto your back.
He shrugged, sly smile tugging at one corner of his lips. “The world is our oyster, darlin’. We can go wherever we damn please.”
You mirrored his smile, thinking that underneath that tough, seemingly unbreakable exterior,  he just might be feeling the same way about you. “Lead the way, then.”

FA Cup final: Lawro
FA Cup final: Lawro
FA Cup final: Lawro
You can watch the FA Cup live on BBC One and the BBC Sport website, with coverage starting at 16:10 BST on Saturday.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho really needs to win the FA Cup final because then he can turn around and say he has had a good season.
If he doesn’t then it has been average. Finishing runners-up in the Premier League is just par for a club the size of United.
With the amount they have spent on players then, if you consider they were a distant second behind Manchester City, it is not the step forward that Mourinho would have wanted for his second year in charge.
United win would set up showdown with City
FA Cup: Every Man Utd goal from this year’s FA Cup
United need trophies and so does Mourinho. This is the last game of the season and he signs off for the summer by lifting the FA Cup then the fans will look on him in a different light.
Will they still be moaning about the football being dull and boring if they go and beat Chelsea 2-0 on Saturday and play extremely well? No, they will be thinking that next year, with a couple more players, they will be a much better team.
It would also set up a Community Shield tie against Manchester City for everyone to look forward to ahead of the new season and another showdown between rivals Mourinho and Pep Guardiola.
Too many Man Utd critics – Mourinho
A lot of the time the curtain raiser to the new campaign is not much of a contest but that one would be, because it would be another trophy as far as Mourinho is concerned and he would take great pleasure in beating Guardiola too.
Of course United have to get there first, though, and I am not sure it is going to be that easy for them.
Will Lukaku look a little bit leaden?
Highlights: Man Utd 2-1 Tottenham
I presume Romelu Lukaku will start up front for United but he has not played since he came off injured against Arsenal at the end of April.
At his best he is a key player for United, I think he will enjoy playing against Chelsea’s three centre-halves and will cause them problems if so.
But he will not have played for 20 days by the time the game kicks off and I think that will affect his performance.
Big strikers like Lukaku need to be playing every week otherwise they lose their sharpness, which will be very important against the Chelsea defence.
My fear is that the Belgian international will look a little bit leaden, so the key to United’s success could be Alexis Sanchez, who has improved of late.
In the FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham he looked like the player we know he can be and United really need a repeat performance from him at Wembley.
United play football with the handbrake on
Where heroes are made: The Road to Wembley – fans’ FA Cup poem
If United midfielder Paul Pogba has a good game, then he could be the difference – but it is a big if.
Do you actually think Jose will say to Pogba on the day, before a big game against opponents like Chelsea, “go on, just go out and play – get involved absolutely everywhere”.
If he does, United would have a far better chance of winning, but it won’t happen. With Jose in charge they play football with the handbrake on.
When you are on the autobahn and behind the wheel of a Ferrari, you don’t drive at 60mph, do you?
But that is where United are at, which is why I think Chelsea will win.
A chance for Conte to bow out in style
Relive all Chelsea’s goals in this year’s FA Cup
I don’t think the result will make any difference to whether Blues manager Antonio Conte stays in his job, he is likely gone either way.
This is like a farewell party for him, and a chance to go out with a bang on a big occasion.
Chelsea’s performances have been poor recently but come Saturday I think their players will have a real go. Even if you don’t like the manager, if you are in a cup final and there is a medal at stake then you are going to give everything you have got.
Willian has been their best player this season and, if he and Eden Hazard play well, they are going to be difficult to stop.
I am not expecting a thrilling encounter, mind you, I have a feeling this is going to be quite a dour game.
That would suit Mourinho in lots of ways, but I just think Chelsea are going to somehow going to come out on top, and allow Conte to say goodbye the way he wants to.

Lawro’s Premier League predictions – the final league table
Lawro made a prediction for all 380 Premier League games this season and the final table based on all of his predictions is at the bottom of this page.
In Lawro’s league table, Manchester City finished as champions and he also got the top six in the correct order, as well as Swansea in 18th.
Liverpool did not lose a game in Lawro’s league table for a second successive season, but the former Reds defender insists there is no bias involved.
Lawro said: “I did not know it had happened again until I was told about it recently – but Liverpool are unbeaten in real life too, aren’t they?
“Seriously, though, I don’t pay any attention to the table when I make my predictions.
“The main reason the top teams often stay unbeaten in my table is that I don’t tip any of them to lose very often full-stop – they don’t, so why would I?”

Lawro's FA Cup final prediction
You can watch the FA Cup live on BBC One and the BBC Sport website, with coverage starting at 16:10 BST on Saturday.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho really needs to win the FA Cup final because then he can turn around and say he has had a good season.
If he doesn’t then it has been average. Finishing runners-up in the Premier League is just par for a club the size of United.
With the amount they have spent on players then, if you consider they were a distant second behind Manchester City, it is not the step forward that Mourinho would have wanted for his second year in charge.
United win would set up showdown with City

United need trophies and so does Mourinho. This is the last game of the season and he signs off for the summer by lifting the FA Cup then the fans will look on him in a different light.
Will they still be moaning about the football being dull and boring if they go and beat Chelsea 2-0 on Saturday and play extremely well? No, they will be thinking that next year, with a couple more players, they will be a much better team.
It would also set up a Community Shield tie against Manchester City for everyone to look forward to ahead of the new season and another showdown between rivals Mourinho and Pep Guardiola.

Media playback is not supported on this device
I presume Romelu Lukaku will start up front for United but he has not played since he came off injured against Arsenal at the end of April.
At his best he is a key player for United, I think he will enjoy playing against Chelsea’s three centre-halves and will cause them problems if so.
<!–
But he will not have played for 20 days by the time the game kicks off and I think that will affect his performance.

Her hand touches his chest right where his heart is and he thinks it might have skipped a beat or several. His breathing becomes shallower as he tries not to think about it. But of course it's all he can think about and he feels like his heart is pounding so hard she can surely feel it even through his many layers.
Tumblr media
When she looks down, he takes the opportunity to look at her hand as it rests there still, looking up to meet her gaze when she speaks again. "You know, that was my actual dog in that one. Roosevelt." He offers before she can even ask.
“See, I knew it!” Lucy sidles closer to him again and casually rests a hand on his chest, tucked partway under the lapel of his duster on his left-hand side. “I knew that heart wasn't in it...” She lingers there a moment or two, smiling with a warmth that reaches her eyes. She feels somewhat vindicated in the strength of her opinions about the old Western film.
Tumblr media
“I always thought A Man and His Dog was so much better,” Lucy adds, looking down at the tape in her left hand fondly—fingers of her right still splayed across his chest. She looks up at him. “Now that was your best work.”
