thanks to @asteritm, I've learned that Eli is very active on snapchat and sends the cutest fucking selfies and no one ever knows where he is at any given time (hopping through paintings, taking selfies where he lands????, traveling through time, jumping locations) and they give very vague responses when asked about it

I guess I'm really thinking about Eli today and his ability to basically interdimensional hop by use of paintings and his gifts are raw and untrained and chaotic. he doesn't have a lot of control over what he can and can't do but if he actually worked to harness his gifts, he'd be able to create pathways that /other/ people can use to travel between time and universes too. he has, on occasion, accidentally sent a person through a painting and lost them. He doesn't know where they are or what they've gone through and he feels absolutely terrible about it.

HEADCANONS

A lot about Eli isn't known and there are times when questioned, even he doesn't have the answers. While he comes off as clueless, he very much understands his capabilities and his nature. He is a warlock without training or guidance. His specialties do focus on portal jumping and inter-dimensional travel. What people don't realize that when painting, they are capturing either a moment in time, or creating a new world/dimension. Eli takes these moments to travel, a bridge of sorts between the two.

Elliot gets sucked into paintings a la Alan Parrish from Jumanji style
