Can you explain the noldor-apologism in your Bio? I mean, I get why you would like Fingolfin, Gil-galad, Finrod Felagund or Eärendil. But I wanna hear what you have to say about noted warcriminals Feanor, Maedhros and Maglor. Also what can you say aboutCelegorm and Curufin?
perhaps this exchange I had with my sister will explain my stance:
Tumblr media
(translation: i don't know who that is but i agree)
......I might be giving her the wrong idea about the events of The Silmarillion.
as a whole my opinion about Fëanor and his sons is that they are my funky little war criminal guys and I love them. <3 more seriously, The Tragedy. compels me.
Fëanor, as a child, growing up with everyone thinking/knowing that there is something fundamentally wrong with him. Everything he ever does is informed by this. (Why am I not loved enough? Why am I unlovable? And he misses the forest for the trees.) He makes horrible decisions and then he dies, and becomes the ghost haunting the narrative. THIS is so compelling. After Alqualondë and the ships, everything horrible is done in his name but crucially he is not there for it. He's held up as the worst, because obviously he has to be the worst if his children are like that, but there is always the question at the back of your mind: would he have done that? Would he have wanted this to happen? (Probably.) (But, maybe....) Also he's a linguist so I can't not love him.
MAEDHROS. I love him. Tragic hero broken beyond hope. How far one person can fall. From being the voice of reason (he alone stood aside) to being the worst of them all. He is THE tragedy. He pieces himself together after being rescued from captivity, just to break differently in the end! Maedhros is a story about hope that's destroyed again and again and again. He clings onto life for all those centuries, for what? At the end, he holds the Silmaril in his hand, and it was all for nothing. And then he kills himself. His life fucking sucks. I love him.
The fact that Maglor's biggest redeeming moment is that he takes in the two children they captured after they destroyed their city will never not be hilarious. To me. But also, he raised Elros and Elrond. Possibly my favorite event to toss around in my head, their fucked up little family is everything to me. Him, I love so much because he's the greatest contradiction. Maedhros grits his teeth and commits war crimes as familial duty. Maglor writes the Noldolantë. Maglor raises the children whose family he as good as massacred, and does it WELL. He loves them. Maglor is gentle, he repents, he regrets everything with his whole heart. And then he commits another war crime. That's delicious. (Also I had a lot of fun coming up with an OC for his unnamed wife, I think she's hilarious. I love women who suck.)
Celegorm and Curufin are possibly the most irredeemable tbh. Their stint as the minor villains in Lúthien's story is entertaining though for sure. I don't have as many thoughts on them as I do on Maedhros and Maglor, but I could probably do some apologism for them if I wanted to. Anyways Celegorm is again a beautiful illustration of how far one person can fall – he's like a whole different person by the time they meet Lúthien. A much worse one, and you can't help but think to yourself "How did this happen? how did he get here?" (The answer might just be Curufin...)
Speaking of Curufin! He's like his father, and isn't that a heavy cross to bear? Fëanor is haunting the narrative but he's haunting Curufin especially. (Celebrimbor manages to not have his father haunt him to this degree, which must take a heroic effort. Good for him!) Also the two of them were definitely enabling each other, someone should separate them for their own sake. Christopher Tolkien says "it's Curufin who put evil into Celegorm's heart" and I feel like there's definitely truth in that, but it certainly didn't do HIM any good either. Oh, and he didn't like Eöl which is obviously a plus in my book, because fuck that guy.
And I love how Caranthir, Amrod and Amras are left out of the question. rip these three, they need to commit more/worse war crimes to have a spot here. This reply is already long enough though.

Soft Breath, Beating Heart (1v)
Billy Russo x Reader
Warnings:Smut, oral(f receiving), edging.
Summary: Your date with Billy continues...
Tumblr media
You want to leave as soon as your feet hit the ground, but you try your best to not ruin Billy's date.
"Let's go over to those shooting games." He suggests, and you nod gently with a smile. You drape Billy's jacket over one of your arms, wrapping your other arm around his thick bicep. He plants a kiss to your forehead as you both move slowly.
You watch him pick up the gun like a natural. You're in awe at the way his biceps flex as he aims. He lets out a small breath, before squeezing the trigger, hitting his mark perfectly. He moves easily after that, hitting all his targets without a second to pause. It's beautiful to watch, and extremely arousing.
You don't think your panties have ever been this damp, watching him handle the dangerous weapon, and then turn to you with a beautiful boyish smile when he's done. You barely even register that he's hit all the targets, too concerned with placing a kiss on his lips in excitement.
He asks you what prize you'd like. Your eyes scan the assortment, before smiling and pointing at one. It's a medium sized, light blue triceratops plushie. You giggle as the attendant gives it over to Billy. He puts it in front his face, offering it to you with a little wiggle. You throw yourself into his arms, the plushie being smushed between your bodies.
You take it in one arm, and continue to hold his hand with the other.
"Where to next, sunshine?"
You chew on your lip, looking down in thought. You want to be alone with him now, tired of being in this public area where you can't be with him in the way you want.
You don't know how to voice this though, the last thing you want to do is cut any of his plans short.
You bite at the soft flesh of your thumb, deep in thought.
"Sunshine?"
You look up at him with widened eyes.
He gently pulls your thumb from your lips.
"Is something the matter?"
"Nuh uh." You voice.
His hand cups your chin, you sigh into the touch.
"Can you tell me what's bothering you?"
"Wanna go home." You squeeze your plushie tighter, "But I know you have more things planned, and you tried so hard for this date and I loved it so much and I don't wanna disappoint you."
"Hey," he says, tightening his grip on your chin a little, "We can do those things I planned another time, it's no bother if you wanna go home. I'm just glad you had a good time. I can drop you off and go-"
He stops as he sees you shake your head.
"I wanna go home with you. Want to be there with you, together. Want you to.... maybe teach me more things?"
Ohhh
He can't fight that smile that draws itself onto his face.
He leans down to kiss you deeply, running his tongue over yours, breathing in your sweet scent.
"Oh sunshine." He moans into your mouth.
"Oh baby, if you wanted me to take you home and make you cum all you had to do was ask."
He smiles, pulling on your arm, guiding you out of the fair and towards his car. He presses you up against it and gives you another bruising kiss, moaning in excitement as he feels your tongue come out to play with his.
He opens the door for you, helping you slip in with all the things you're holding. He gets into the driver's side, but pauses before he starts the car.
"Take your panties off and give them to me."
Your eyes widen with his words.
"Wh- what?"
He pins you with a look.
"Take those soaked panties off, and put them in my hand."
"Buh- but-"
"If I have to ask a third time, I won't lick your pussy."
That gets you moving. You can feel your face and chest burning hot as you reach up under your skirt to pull the scrap of fabric down over your legs.
He's holding his hand out expectantly. You press the damp material into his hand, avoiding his gaze.
"Hey," he says softly.
You meet his eyes after a bit of hesitation.
"You're doing so well for me sunshine. So good."
You give him a little smile and reach for his hand to place it on your thigh.
He smiles, starting the car.
"Billy?"
"Sunshine?"
"You said it earlier on the ferris wheel.. and then just now... you're going to lick my pussy?"
"Yes...?"
You trace the prominent veins on his hand as you speak.
"I've heard other girls talk about it, so I know what it is... but can it really make you cum?"
He sucks in a breath, deciding on the best way to explain it.
"It's why I needed you to get accustomed to touchin' yourself before I tried it. If it's done right, yeah, it can make you cum, but you have to be able to at least know what you like, so that you can help guide me. You following?"
"I think so."
He smiles and lets a loud breath out.
"Relax baby, you have nothing to worry about with me."
You squeeze his wrist in emphasis of your next words.
"I know that."
He presses you against his apartment door when you get inside. He bends down, grabbing you by the backs of your thighs and instructing you to wrap your legs around him. You cry out when you feel your bare pussy rub against the cold buckle of his belt.
He pulls your mouth back into his, aching and desperate for your lips.
"This is my place." He says, his mouth barely leaving yours.
You giggle into his mouth.
"It's a very nice place." You follow up, never taking a moment to even look at the apartment around you.
You feel him move eagerly toward his bedroom, it doesn't take much for him to be rock hard once again.
He takes his time, gently placing you down on his bed. You look up at him so innocently, unsure of what to do next.
"Can I undress you baby?"
You suck on your lip and nod your head.
He starts slowly, moving to the zipper on your boot and slipping them off.
He groans when he sees the black thigh high socks you're wearing underneath. You're definitely keeping those on.
He moves up to kiss you, untucking your sweater from your skirt as he does.
You love the way he handles your body, with an insane amount of care and appreciation. Your need for him hits a feverish pitch when he pulls your top over your head, tossing it into an unseen corner of his room.
He runs his fingers down your cleavage, appreciating the pretty patterned bra pressed against your skin.
He keeps his mouth pressed to yours as he unsnaps your bra, tracing his fingers down your arms and moving the constricting material from your skin.
You shiver when the cold air hits your skin, goosebumps erupting over your chest.
Billy pauses for a second to look at you. He mistakes your shiver for uncertainty.
"Want me to stop?" He asks gently.
You shake your head.
He looks at you kindly, "Need your words, sunshine."
"Don't want to stop." You mumble, "Want you to... lick my pussy like you said you would.
Billy swears beneath his breath, gripping your skirt in his hands, undoing it and slipping it down your legs. It catches on one of your socks on the way off and you giggle as you watch him try to unhook the materials from each other.
He tosses your skirt over his shoulders playfully and then takes his time to readjust your socks.
"You're... not... taking those off too?" You ask, confused.
He shakes his head, "You look way too hot in these for me to take them off."
"Oh." Is all you say.
He moves back to drink in every inch of your body, naked and no doubt ready for him. Even bare for him, you still look so fucking innocent.
He guides your body further back on the bed, so that you're leaning against the headboard. He kisses your lips, and then makes his way slowly down your body, leaving a trail of kisses as he goes.
He parts your legs slowly, getting at eye level with your dripping heat. He gasps at how truly wet you are.
"This all for me, sunshine? I make you this wet?"
You swallow and nod.
" 'M all wet just for you, Billy."
He groans, leaning in to kiss at your folds.
"Wait!"
He pauses looking up, you're nibbling on the tip of your index finger.
"Are you- are you sure?"
He smiles at you, "Yeah sunshine, I'm sure."
He takes your hand and guides it into his hair, he feels the way your fingers tighten around the strands reflexively.
"If you don't like somethin' I do, you gotta tell me okay? Don't hide it, I only wanna make you happy."
"O-okay."
He kisses your thighs first, slowly moving closer to your wet heat, you whine, feeling the need burn low in your stomach. He spreads your folds gently, giving you a long, heated look before pressing his tongue to your clit.
You sigh in bliss, feeling the new sensation. His tongue is soft and warm and wet, not as stiff as his fingers are, more pliable. You can feel his tongue doing more stimulation on your clit than his fingers do, gliding expertly over your core.
He pulls back, "How did that feel?" He asks.
"New," you respond, "different... good..."
You hear more than see him laugh.
"Want me to keep going?"
"Oh, yes please, Billy."
He smiles and runs his tongue over your wet entrance, moaning at the taste of you.
You feel your toes curl, your hand tightens in his hair. His tongue is working wonders over your swollen pussy, pushing you slowly towards new heights.
"Can you-" you say, you feel him pause at the sound of your voice. "Can you move your tongue in circles? Ar- around my clit?"
His smile is downright devilish as he buries his face between your thighs.
You gasp when you feel him making firm circles around your clit, working you up. His hands slide from their place on your thighs to under your ass, gripping you tight and pulling you as close as possible to his face.
"So fucking sweet." You hear him say, his tongue moving expertly over your pussy.
You're moaning his name desperately, tugging on his hair, pressing his face even closer. He's getting high on the pleasure he's giving you, basking in every pitiful sound that escapes your lips as he licks your delicious slit.
You're getting really close to your orgasm when he stops.
You can't help but let out a long winded whine in frustration.
"Was so close, Billy." You complain.
"Oh, sunshine, I'm so sorry." He says, with a tone of voice that lets you know he's not really sorry.
"I'll just have to start again." He says, burying his face between your thighs once more.
He kisses feverishly at your clit, sucking on the bud gently, and then increasing the pressure the more you moan. He teases your pussy again until you're on the brink of orgasm once more. When he stops this time, your hand tugs his hair hard, you shake your head desperately.
"Noo, Billy, noooo. Was so close again." You whine, feeling fresh tears of frustration glimmer behind your eyes.
" 'M sorry sunshine, I'll try again, yeah?"
You sniffle.
"Okay."
He's maybe enjoying this too much, running the tip of his tongue over your swollen clit, feeling the way your pussy clenches around nothing as he laves his tongue over your entrance.
You can't help your cries of delight when you feel his tongue probe into you, pressing in as far as it will go.
" 'S good Billy please don't stop. Please sir please."
But he does stop when he hears the title you address him as.
Your nails dig into his scalp when he pulls back this time, your frustration hitting new peaks.
"What did you just call me, sunshine?"
You groan.
"Billyyyy"
"No, the other thing."
You have to take a few deep breaths in order to focus on his words.
Embarrassment takes root when you realise what you said.
"I.... um.."
He kisses the top of your thigh, looking up at you from between your legs.
"Say it for me."
It takes you a moment to build up the courage.
"Please make me cum, sir."
He closes his eyes slowly and he groans as you say it. God, he wants you so bad, in every way possible, in every way you're willing to give him. He wants to have you open and ready for him anytime he wants, his sweet, beautiful sunshine.
He presses his face into your pussy once more, licking you with a renewed vigor, savouring your desperate cries like it's the last time he'll hear them. He moans when he feels you tug harshly on his hair, grinding your clit on his tongue in need. He won't be able to resist tasting you again in the morning, and he's excited at the thoughts of having you sit on his face.
"Gonna cum, please sir, please Billy, don't stop, please don't stop, please don't- ahhh!"
He feels your body shake, tastes the sweet gush of wetness that coats his tongue as your orgasm hits. He groans, licking up at your clit as you throw your head back and cry out his name, so loud, if he had neighbours they would probably hear your sweet cries as you cum on his tongue. Your orgasm is white hot, almost blinding, you can't feel anything for a couple seconds besides total, uncontrollable euphoria. You feel yourself go limp after, leaning against his headboard for support as you shake from the effects of your most intense orgasm yet.
When you catch your breath, your eyes zero in on Billy, who is now sitting up, looking at you, the lower half of his face glistening with your slick.
"How did you... why did I-  how'd you do that?"
He laughs, licking at his lips, pulling you into a reclined position on his chest.
"It's called edging, where I tease you, bring you close a couple of times. Makes the actual orgasm that more intense."
You groan.
"That was- It was- I've never- "
"Breathe, sunshine."
You take a moment, collecting your thoughts, feeling your heart slow.
"That was amazing Billy." You say into his clothed chest.
"Yeah, you really are." He answers.
"Wanna return the favour." You say, raising your head.
Billy swallows, you see the blush spread over his face.
"You kind of, um, already did."
You don't understand.
He groans and throws his arm over his eyes. Feeling actually embarrassed for the first time in a very long time.
"Watching you experience this pleasure for the first time... is intoxicating. Watching the way you get worked up for me... also gets me worked up. You know?"
You scrunch your eyebrows and tilt your head.
"What are you saying?"
He sighs.
"Watching you cum on my tongue like that, made me cum too."
You chew on your bottom lip as you let his words sink in.
"Sorry sunshine, I was just too worked up y'know? I was hard and achin' since that ferris wheel and then having my mouth between your thighs, knowing that was the first time someone ever licked that sweet pussy, those pretty moans you were makin' and then tuggin' on my hair at every chance you got... I didn't even realised I'd cum until you let go of my hair."
"I... didn't know boys could do that." You murmur.
He laughs, sitting up and leaning forward to bury his face into your neck, wrapping his arms around you and pulling you in close. Your hands wrap around him too, sinking into his hair.
"Boys can do that, yes, but I've never done that before, not with anyone else. Ever. You make me feel so good too, sunshine. Didn't think I'd have any more firsts left in me until I met you."
He looks up at you, his dark eyes are unbelievably kind, begging for your approval.
You feel a rush of satisfaction go through you, at the knowledge that you made this powerful man cum in his pants untouched with just the taste of your pussy. If you had ever been worried about being more affected by him, that he was by you, that feeling was long gone.
In that moment, with your stomach aflutter, you finally understood where you wanted to be with Billy, and you had just been given the right amount of confidence to ask him.
"Billy?"
"Sunshine?" He says, blinking up at you.
"D'you wanna be my boyfriend?"

CHAPTER 12:
All the girls had at least one bag in their hand. Momo had eight (some big but most of them medium sized that only contained one or two things each), Mina four, Hagakure two, Jirou one, Uraraka one, Tsuyu two, and Aoyama five. The only one without any bags was Bakugou since he hasn’t bought anything. So far— and he will rather die than admit it out loud— hanging out with his classmates wasn’t the most terrible thing that has happened to him these past three days. He was actually kinda having a good time.
"You should have come with us to get your nails painted too, Bakugou-kun" Hagakure placed an invisible hand on his shoulder where he saw some glittery blue polish.
"Yeah! I think a nice /green/ would look great on you" Uraraka smiled, giving a wink to Tsuyu who shook her head.
“Actually, I think Bakubabe would prefer a firetruck /red/ ” Mina nudged Jirou who gave her friend a knowing look.
"On the contrary, I believe a nice dark color like black or purple would suit Bakugou-san best" Momo suggested, oblivious to what her other friends were hinting at. "Perhaps Bakugou would like to join us on our next trip?" she turned to look at him and he looked back at her then the rest who were waiting for his answer like they were insane.
"But I won't be a girl then" he replied like they'd forgotten.
"We know that, kero, but Bakugou-chan is fun when he is not yelling," Tsuyu responded, a finger to her cheek.
"You joining us again would be très bien, monsieur" Aoyama smiled over at him, wiggling his fingers in front of his face to show off simplistic french tipped fingernails.
Bakugou didn't really respond but he did smile a little on the inside. Not that they needed to know that though.
The conversation was dropped to start another one about what they've bought so far, cuticle care (via Aoyama), and what they wanted to do tomorrow in their free day. That somehow turned into Momo recalling a restaurant she visited with her parents where the food was magnificent and that led to Bakugou claiming he can make the best damn breakfast they've ever had and Jirou challenging him to cook breakfast for them tomorrow to prove it. He agreed of course and the girls couldn't wait. They already knew Bakugou was a great cook but challenging him was always fun for both them and for Bakugou since he liked to prove he was the best.
After walking around for a bit, the girls decided that they wanted to go into a store that just recently opened. It was one similar to Victoria Secret that sold lingerie and other intimate clothing that Bakugou didn’t feel comfortable in so the blonde stayed outside on his phone.
"Is that Bakugou Katsuki I'm seeing? Or do my eyes deceive me" Bakugou could practically hear the smirk and sarcasm dripping from the words. Looking up, he saw Emo Deku 2.0 walking over to where he was standing, the smug bastard.
"Is that the human vibrator I'm seeing? Or is it just a big pile of dog shit" he countered back, baring his teeth up at the guy. Shindou Yo always rubbed him the wrong way and just the sound of his voice and that dumb way he patronized and looked down at him like he was better was enough to make his blood boil. He thought he’d seen the end of him after their provisional hero license exam when he was a first year and Shindou was a third year, but fate has a funny way of working and Bakugou seems to run into the guy more often than he'd like when he's out doing public service hero work or at internships.
"No need for insults, Bakugou. I was just surprised to see you, that's all. I heard about what happened over at the agency but I didn't believe it. I mean, you /are/ supposed to be the best, right? So how on earth was I to believe that a small time thug got the upper hand on the Great Explosion Murder God DynaMight?" Shindou tilted his head, looking down at Bakugou with fake curiosity and concern. "I could see I was mistaken though. Maybe you're just not as amazing as they say you are /just/ yet. That's okay though. It took me all three years at Ketsubutsu Academy to fully learn how to be a great hero but I guess some people need more time. It's okay being a late bloomer. Isn't that right, Katsuki?"
Bakugou was positively fuming and it took everything in him not to launch at him right then and there. He wasn't the same explosive boy from his first year that couldn't control his impulses. Besides, making him lose his composure is what that asshole wanted and he won't give him the satisfaction. He won't compromise his perfect record and possibly endanger someone by using his quirk in a public setting. Clenching his fist as hard as he could, he let the sparks threatening to ignite die in his palms.
"What? You've got nothing to say, Katsuki? How very unlike you" the black haired boy teased. It's been two years since Shindou Yo graduated from Ketsubutsu Academy High School and half a year since he's been working as a rookie pro hero. He was assigned to this mall by the agency he works at and imagine his surprise when he saw Bakugou just standing there in the open like that. Really, he just couldn't resist coming over and saying hi. The blonde was always so entertaining.
"Pro-hero Grand! May we have your autograph?" a small girl and boy ran over to them, each holding a pen and notebook in their hands up to Shindou's face. The man's condescending smile changed into a friendly one at the flip of a switch. "Of course! It'd be an honor" he laughed and gave them both his signature. Bakugou let out a 'tch' sound, crossing his arms over his chest. "Thank you for your support!" he waved them goodbye and the children waved back with a 'thank you', running off back to a woman who they guessed was their mother.
"Does it ever get tiring being a two-faced bitch?" Bakugou growled and Shindou turned back to him, letting out an amused laugh.
"See? There he is. Or should I say she now?" he made a thinking face and laughed when Bakugou audibly growled like a dog. "That's what I like about you, Bakugou. Always so feisty" he cooed before stepping a bit closer. Bakugou kept his ground so they were almost chest to chest, Bakugou glaring up at the guy because of his new height. If he was smaller by one or two inches before, he is now nearly half a foot shorter than the bastard. "You know, this look actually kinda suits you. It makes you look cute when you're angry so really I can't even take you seriously. Not that I did before, but now I get the sudden urge to hug you. Isn't that funny?" he smirked.
"Well take a good long look, perv, because I'll be turning back to normal tomorrow morning," Bakugou spat. Shindou looked genuinely confused for a split second and it made Bakugou get a sinking feeling in his chest.
"Tomorrow morning? Are you sure? Did Eraser tell you that?" the pro hero raised an eyebrow, a smile tugging at his lips.
"What the hell are you getting at?" Bakugou frowned.
"Oh nothing, don't mind me. If that's what your teacher said then it must be true" he shrugged.
"Is there something you're not telling me? If there is, spit it out already."
"Like I said, it's nothing. Anyway, I must be getting back to work. The streets don't keep themselves safe, you know?" Shindou smiled and turned to leave but Bakugou immediately grabbed his arm, spinning him around to face him and gripping onto the black and gold top piece of his hero costume to pull him down to his eye level.
"Woah there Bakugou. Aren't we moving just a bit too fast?" the older of the two chuckled.
"Listen up, dumbass. I swear if there's something you're not telling me I'll—" he growled out before getting interrupted by a stern voice.
"Bakugou! What is going on here? Let go of him immediately" Iida stepped up to both of them. Midoriya, Todoroki, and the other three standing behind the tall, navy haired male were all ready to intervene if need be, Midoriya and Todoroki more so than the rest.
Bakugou unclenched his hands from Shindou's hero costume with a huff and Shindou smoothed it out with a throaty laugh.
"Thanks for that. Iida Tenya, right? Ingenium's younger brother?" Shindou smiled.
The class rep nodded and answered 'yes, I am' before putting his hands together. "Pro-hero Grand," Iida gave a deep bow, "I apologize in advance for my classmate's despicable behavior. As class rep it is my responsibility to ensure everyone acts their best in order to better represent the name of U.A. My apologies again, sir!" Iida was practically yelling and it caused a few heads to turn their way in curiosity to what was happening, but they all looked away with a sharp glare from a certain ash blonde that basically told them to mind their own fucking business. "Is everything okay? Was Bakugou bothering you?"
Bakugou could have laughed. Of course they'd think that so he wasn’t even surprised.
"What?" Shindou laughed before the black haired hero began maneuvering the younger so that he had an arm around Bakugou's shoulders and his other hand was holding one of Bakugou's wrists like they were the best of pals. "Oh no, not at all. Bakugou-kun and I were just talking about old times. I was giving him a few words of my experience so far and some advice as a pro hero" the male gave a bright smile. "What you saw just now was a new move Bakugou was demonstrating to me. There is no problem here, right Katsuki?"
"Whatever."
Midoriya's eyes flickered over to Kacchan. Honestly, he doesn't think that that was what happened at all. He thinks Shindou said or did something that made Bakugou react that way. He's known the blonde for a long time now and while his childhood friend might be a hot head, he wasn't the type to start fights without reason. Todoroki, Shoji, and Koda thought the same but didn't say anything. They didn’t get good vibes from Shindou either.
Todoroki didn't like the interaction between those two one bit and Izuku felt the need to go up and pull his Kacchan away from him.
"Well, that's a relief" Iida answered with a bit of hesitance. He was still a bit suspicious but let the matter slide.
"I hope to see you all out in the field in a few years. Work hard" Shindou said his goodbyes to all of them individually before turning to Bakugou. "It was nice bumping into you, Katsuki-chan. And I meant what I said earlier too. You look good" he winked and Bakugou growled. "Take care, guys" he smiled, waving goodbye.
They all watched the hero go before Iida was turning to Bakugou. "What happened between you two, Bakugou?" he frowned and Bakugou grumbled.
"Nothin' that concerns any of you. Now quit buggin me."
Iida tried not to take offense. After a few years of being classmates, he should be used to the blonde's somewhat hostile way of speaking. “As you wish. Why were you alone? Where are the girls and Aoyama?” he asked.
“In the store” he huffed, crossing his arms over his chest.
Almost as if by magic, Bakugou’s group started walking out of the store, some carrying new small bags.
“Deku-kun! Iida-kun!” Uraraka grinned, going up to them excitedly.
“Uraraka-san. It’s good to see you” Izuku smiled. The rest of them caught up before Iida started lecturing the girls about leaving Bakugou alone.
“I can take care of myself, four eyes!” he yelled but Iida paid no attention to him as he continued talking to the rest about what he saw happening with Bakugou and Shindou earlier to make a point about why we should all be in groups or in pairs at all times. Mina gasped loudly and Momo turned around to look at Bakugou with sympathy.
“Did he do something to you, Bakugou?" the pink girl was stomping over to him, a furious look on her face. "Where is he? I’ll beat him up I swear” Mina frowned, looking around to see if she can spot the black haired hero around. For his sake, he better pray she doesn't. Apparently she thought the same thing Midoriya did.
"Bakugou-kun! I am terribly sorry we left you alone. I should have known better and stayed behind with you. I am so sorry for your troubles" she apologized.
"Hah? Do you think I'm some type of damsel in distress now or something? It's fine, ponytail. Quit apologizing" he grumbled, looking away. “You too, Pinky.”
Momo gave him a soft smile and went in for a hug. She was sure he'd most likely push her off so when he didn't, she was very surprised. He didn't hug back but Momo didn't expect him to and she hugged him a bit tighter, the rest of the girls going in for a group hug as well. The boys were unsure what to do (even though some of them really wanted to join) so they stood to the side and watched how Bakugou started telling them to quit being "sentimental fucks" and let go already. They could tell he didn’t really mind it when he didn't immediately threaten to blow them up though.
Bakugou couldn’t wait until he went back to normal tomorrow.

Me: *looks at completed homework* *looks at Jessie* *looks at homework* Now that I have my freedom your heart is in danger once again. Be warned brave friend.
Also me: JANUS!! GET YOUR BLOND HEAD OUT HERE!!! I NEED YOU AGAIN!
faintly in the distance: noooooooo
~~~~~~~~
All the sides were wearing black.
They just got home from a very sad event that day, no one wanted to say the title out loud because they couldn't accept that he was gone. Rain hit the mindscape windows, similarly, tears were streaming down all of their faces.
After the event, all the sides went to their rooms. All except a certain dark blue side.
Logan was on the couch. Black suit being crumpled by the lax sitting position. In his shaking hands was held a letter. Everyone had at least one letter. Logan had the most with five letters. Each one had a number.
Logan grabbed the letter labeled #1
It was of medium size. White envelope contrasting with the red wax used to seal it. The only thing that marked that it was for him was the blue ink used to mark his name.
Trying not to tear the paper. Logan opened the letter and started to read.
Dear Logan,
I guess if you're reading this I'm gone. To that fact, I'm truly sorry. I wish I could be there. But this is for the best.
I suppose you know what happened to the dark side by now. If you don't well.... Its gone. Wrath, Apathy and Depression were just getting too powerful, it didn't matter how much I hid them away they still got to Thomas... and I can't have them destroying Thomas's life. I need to do my job, even if it kills me. I really did enjoy your company! I hope you know that.
Often times the only thing that could get me out of the bed in the morning was being able to see your face. Or being able to debate with you. Or seeing you talk about space for hours! God Logan, I could go on for hours about how you made my horrid life better. You were my best friend.
These letters are going to be written over a period of time. I don't think I have it in me to say goodbye to the 5 people who made my life tolerable all at once. I'm going to be writing one letter a day. Till tomorrow Logan?
~Deceit Sanders
Logan let out a steady breath. He refused to cry over the first letter. He debated over reading all of the letters at once but.... Janus said tomorrow... He'll read letter #2 the following day.
The next morning was just as somber. Logan sat on his bed and gripped the second letter.
This one was the same size, but the envelope was a light baby blue. The seal black. Logan opened it with just as much care as before.
Hello Logan
Another day, another migraine? I get it... Not the time for jokes. I just finished writing Roman's second letter. I always felt so bad for everything involving Roman.
I manipulated him, I told him lies, I compared him to his brother. Kinda makes me deserve this I have a feeling he might try something. Snake instincts. Watch him for me, please? You five need to be a family, I've witnessed what happens to sides to end up hating eachother. Its not pretty. You don't want that Logan.
I guess that is what makes me have to do this. If we only acted like a family I wouldn't have to do this. I wouldn't have to do a lot of things if the darks weren't pricks.
The stupid thing is that I know you would try to talk me out of this plan. And you're right. God you're always right. Why do you have to be right all the time? I wish I was right all the time. But its ok. I'll be the side who hides the truth.
Blessings and a curses, right?
I'll write to you again tomorrow Logan
~ Janus Deceit Sanders
Logan gulped in another breath. He could read that crossed out section... Janus was right. They have to be there for eachother.
Why don't they go watch Janus' favourite movies? That sounds like a fun way to remember someone. Logan got the others.
-time skip-
It was just passed midnight. Everyone else was asleep on the couch as Coraline played on the TV. Logan stared at the third letter. It was technically the next day.... Logan grabbed the letter.
This letters envelope was a burnt tan colour. Yellow wax acted as the seal.
My dear, Logan
I never wanted to be hugged so much then I do right now. I have to barricade my door to prevent Wrath from getting inside, he's always been a loud side.
I remember when I was nothing but a child -Virgil is ten years older then me. Did you know that? I forget that sometimes- I always had blond hair. I know that you and the other lights also have lighter coloured hair. Well anyway. Wrath hates my hair, says that I don't belong. I can also only do that little silencing trick when I'm on your side of the mind. And I can only automatically heal when on the light side too. Huh. I never released how long that list was. Maybe I'm just defective... That has to be it... Right?
I always looked up to you. You could tell people how it was and not cower when things go wrong. You truly are amazing Logan. You need to show the others that. I know that the others love and care for you. You need to accept that love logan! Please. Don't fall into a similar pit of despair I fell into so long ago. I never escaped that pit. Don't fall in it too.
I know how you like to cope Logan. You seek familiar things that remind you of that person. Thats why I did something for you. Under your bed is my all time favourite book, Good Omens, My favourite snacks and an USB with my playlist on it. I hope you love them as much as I did Logan. I'll write to you tomorrow.
~Janus Sanders
Janus wasn't lying when he found the little care package. Logan wasn't crying. Absolutely not! Patton was cooking with onions. Logan never released how much he loved chocolate covered pretzels and jazz until that moment.
The next day Logan didn't even bother to get dressed. He just grabbed the next letter. A soft pastel yellow with a blue seal. Logan tore it open, eger to read what the yellow side wrote next.
Dear Bluebell,
Kinda weird calling you that. But I guess I won't be alive long enough to see your negative reaction. Bluebells were always my favourite flower. Would it be rude to keep calling you bluebell? Well, I guess it's a little too late for that.
It just came to my attention that by this time tomorrow I'm going to be...Gone. I made the poison that would get rid of them. My venom is one of the only things that can kill a side. Would be a bit ironic dying from my own venom huh? Well, I might as well tell you my plan.
Do you remember that party you and the others snuck into? The masquerade? We're having another party tomorrow. And it was always my job to serve the wine. We can't have the others being suspicious to why I didn't drink my wine. They will be dead in less then ten minutes. My venom is painful. But it'll kill them. I'll kill them 10x over, I'm not looking forward to five minutes in where the venom shuts down your lungs.
Anyway, I'm a side known for plans right? Not always the best plans but it counts. I still remember debating with you as Patton. Maybe... Maybe I could sneak over today? Pathetic last wish, but I would love to have a hug and a movie. I'm going to head over to your side soon.
Bluebell Logan when I'm gone. I need you to do something for me. Don't let them forget me...Please. That is all I want. I don't want my body to be left inside of that empty house. I don't want to die next to the people I hate the most. All I ever wanted was to see you smile. I'll see you later today.
~Bumblebee
Logan was crying. That day... Janus asked for a hug and a movie.
He only gave Janus a hug after the look of heart break was too much for him to bear. Logan didn't wait to grab the next letter.
My Beloved Bluebell
Today is the day, I never thought I would admit this but... I'm scared. Do you think that there is Heaven and Hell for sides? If there is I guess I'm going to hell. Suicide is a sin. Not like anything else I've done deserves heaven.
I don't have very long for this letter. 30 minutes. I have 30 minutes till my heart stops. God I'm terrified. This is the last letter I'm writing Logan. I finished writing Virgil's letters yesterday. All thats left is your letter. And holy fuck I'm scared.
I have to do this, I overheard Wrath making a plan to overthrow the mind. I can't let that happen. I would fail at my only job. It doesn't matter if I'm scared or not, I need to do my job. Thomas would suffer if I didn't.
20 minuites, I have ten minutes till the party. My hand is shaking. Can you tell from my writing? I hope you can still read this. If you can't the letter is pointless.
Logan, I know that this is never something you would reciprocate but...
I love you. I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you. I wanted to take you to the moon for a honeymoon and take you dancing among the stars. I wanted to be the tired husband that has to deal with your legionds of roommates. Logan I love you so god damn much I can't put it into words. I know you could never love me though. Its ok.
Take care of yourself for me please. Don't let your beautiful family fall apart. Don't let the despair of my death cause one of yours. Don't let one of the others blame themselves. This is no ones fault but mine.
I love you
~Janus Sanders
Logan dropped the letter and let out the most agonizing scream that could ever come out of his mouth. He cried. He cried and cried and cried. He cried until no more sound came out and his eyes burned.
He didn't notice when the other four came into the room and held him close.
All Logan did was trace the words on the page.
"I love you too, my bumblebee."
The sides could only feel the hole in their heart grow bigger.
~~~~~
I made myself sad again. I CAN'T EVEN CRY! MY PARENTS ARE IN THE ROOM! Curse my own brain ;-;
Here it is!

Chapter Sixteen - Memories on the Tides
The trip from Lakeland had started out quiet. The fishing boat was a medium-sized ship, with a few cabins for a small crew. The trip would likely take the evening to navigate from the Source to Venmont Yards. Emet-Selch's money had gotten them closer to Eulmore, but that still meant going to the docks at the shipyard. The only way straight to the city was via an airship. While there had been talks of an airship route between the Crystarium and Eulmore, and visits from Chai-Nuzz to the Crystal Exarch, the implementation of the actual trip was still a ways off.
Emet-Selch had been first to board Dadfort's vessel. Shoto was next, then Yuki, and finally Sumire. The four split into two groups, each taking a crew cabin. Emet-Selch was assigned to share a cabin with Sumire, while Yuki would share a cabin with Shoto. The Viera stood firm on this arrangement, and took Shoto's bag from Sumire.
"We'll meet you in the kitchen where we can talk about what to do once we're in Kholusia. For now, go put your things away." Yuki directed, taking up a leadership role for the moment. Shoto let herself be led off to their cabin, not wanting to fight right now.
Sumire turned to look at the Ascian, only to wince and rub at his right eye. He looked away immediately, then headed toward the other cabin. "Come on, it's best to listen to Yuki when she's this insistent."
"I haven't anything I care to put away," the Ascian replied, not following after the Dragoon.
Sumire stopped, then looked back, making sure only his left eye could see him. "Then at least come choose your bed. I'll put my things on the other one and we can go meet them in the kitchen."
Hades looked to the Miqo'te, then gave a dramatic sigh as he moved to follow him. "Very well. I suppose you make a point."
* * * The kitchen, for what it was worth, was mostly just that; a table and chairs for crewmembers to eat while at sea. It served as a good meeting place, though, and Dadfort was currently making a bit of food and coffee for everyone. He had one crewmember with him for the trip, and had entrusted them with navigation above deck until everyone was settled. They had overheard Dadfort telling his First Mate that he'd take over once they'd left the Source and were into the Divide proper.
The four passengers sat silently around the table as the ship headed across the lake; Dadfort sat plates in front of Shoto and Yuki with a smile, then went back to get two more plates for Sumire and Emet-Selch. Shoto sniffed at the food before her, and her expression seemed to brighten instantly. It looked really fancy to her for a quick meal; crab cakes, with some quickly grilled mixed vegetables beside them. Yuki poked at her crab cakes with a fork as Dadfort gave the boys their food. Hades wrinkled his nose a bit at the simplistic meal, but Sumire looked impressed. His ears flicked and he moved to eat immediately. Shoto also dug in once the others had their food. Yuki sighed quietly and began to eat the vegetables; she watched the Ascian poke at the food as if uncertain.
"Venmont Yards isn't far from Eulmore," Dadfort broke the awkward silence. "It's the closest dock to the city, and the least distance you'd need to walk without an airship up." He brought a tray to the table with 4 cups of coffee, some cream and sugar. "We're heading straight there, but it will still take some time to cross the Divide to Kholusia. Whenever you get tired, feel free to sleep. Likely won't get there 'til morning."
"We're grateful for your hospitality, my good man," Emet-Selch smiled at the Galdjent fisherman.
"Least I could do is provide some food after making you wait longer for the ship than I meant to." He smiled and gestured to the coffee tray. "Please take your time eating. I'm gonna head above deck and trade off with my First Mate so's he can eat too." The captain headed off with another tray. It held two more plates and cups of coffee. He seemed a bit better now that they were on the water, though he had repeated that he wouldn't stay longer than simply dropping them off.
As soon as they were alone, Yuki used her fork to point at Emet-Selch. "What's wrong with your dinner? Not fancy enough for your exacting tastes?"
"You haven't touched the meat either, Viera."
"I'm still eating," she made a face. Sumire and Shoto silently looked to one another, then both reached for a cup of coffee; they'd eaten half of their crab cakes already. Yuki continued to watch the Ascian; he once again made an uncertain face, and used his fork to poke at what was on his plate... without eating any of it. Yuki ate the rest of her vegetables, leaving only the crab cake. She looked to Shoto, then to Sumire; both of them finished the crab cakes already, though Shoto was taking her time on the veggies. Sumire's plate was empty, and he held his coffee cup against him with both hands.
Tumblr media
Yuki realized she'd never seen him turn down any sort of food, even if she felt unsure about it. She was also used to being last to finish... perhaps that was why she futzed about? There wasn't anything particularly odd about the crab cakes; she'd had them before in Limsa Lominsa. These did smell different, but they didn't smell bad.
'You're overthinking it, Yuki, just eat your crab! ' She silently yelled at herself. She started to eat her cakes with a frustrated pout.
Sumire blinked at her, then silently chuckled into his cup. His reaction drew Emet-Selch's attention; the Ascian raised an eyebrow as he looked between the male Miqo'te and the female Viera.
Shoto looked up from her remaining veggies, to Emet-Selch, then to Sumire, then to Yuki. She tilted her head; she didn't quite understand the look the Ascian was giving them.
"Did I miss something...?" Shoto bit her fork. Sumire looked over to her, then to Emet-Selch. He blushed a little as he looked back to Shoto.
"I just found Yuki's pouty eating funny, it wasn't really anything... vital."
"It isn't pouty, Sumire, I was just unfocused!"
Tumblr media
"It also looked like a pout to me, Emet-Selch added, in a flat voice. Yuki glared at him, as she managed to keep herself from blushing too much.
The Ascian shrugged, then looked back to the food in front of him. It wasn't fancy, that was true, but neither was the sandwich he ate last night. He'd certainly eaten worse meals.
"You should eat too," Shoto pouted.
Emet-Selch looked up, then back to the food. No one else seemed to react to her words, and it had felt directed... maybe he'd just been distracted. He gave her a dramatic little sigh, then replied playfully, "Well, if you insist."
It had been an exchange out loud, but her feelings had pushed the point home. Yuki seemed focused on Sumire, who had finished his coffee and seemed to be staring at the cup. Emet-Selch made a show of forcing himself to eat, but it wasn't much of one; he found he liked the taste, and decided to simply finish the food.
The rest of dinner went on in mostly silence. When the Ascian finished, he stood up to leave. Sumire looked up, a bit of hesitance in his voice, “You heading back to the room then?”
Emet-Selch rolled his eyes at the question, “Fret not, the room is all yours.” The Ascian did not elaborate any further on his decision, he simply waved a hand as he wandered off.
Yuki frowned as she shook her head. The distrust of the Ascian was still clear on her face, but a tired look from Sumire caused her to frown. “Perhaps, it's best if we all retire to our rooms... we've got a long night ahead of us.”
Shoto nodded in agreement and scooted her chair back. "We should be sure to thank Dadfort for the meal and the ride in the morning." She smiled a bit, then turned to head off. Yuki and Sumire both made a sound in agreement.
The group moved back towards the crew cabins they were staying in. Sumire stopped at the one he was now staying in alone, as the two girls continued on to the further cabin. Yuki paused for a moment at their cabin door, then looked back to Sumire with concern. “If you need anything, you know where our room is…” A blush spread across her cheeks, “N-Not that you would... need anything from us. Whatever.” With a pout, Yuki stormed past Shoto, into their room. The female Miqo'te blinked, then giggled and waved good night to the male Miqo'te.
Tumblr media
Sumire gave a tired smile in response, and pushed into the dark cabin. He barely got his door shut, then fumbled with his shirt as he stumbled over to the bed he'd picked earlier. He didn't so much crawl into bed as collapse onto it. Sleep encroached upon him quickly. His eyelids felt heavy as he almost instantly drifted off to sleep.
Tumblr media
He could hear the ocean; at least, it certainly sounded like it; it was certainly a lot of water nearby. The smell was more enclosed, almost like a cave, but... drier. Sumire swore he had been in bed only a moment ago... he remembered crawling into it, barely managing to take most of his clothes off first. It felt like he was on something much more solid than that; a rock?
He could hear someone approaching wherever he was; hurried footsteps on solid rock, it sounded like. The person beside him moved closer to his ear, as their hand rested on his shoulder and arm.
"Theia, wake up."
I've heard that name before...
He felt hands on his arm gently shaking him, as the same voice repeated their call.
"Theia, you've been dreaming for a while now. It's time to wake up."
...dreaming...?
"Mmm, Khione, surely I couldn't have been away that long," Sumire heard a female voice answer. It had felt like he had spoken the words, but... he knew he hadn't. The male Miqo'te paused, as he felt someone help him sit up on the rock that he could feel beneath him.
This was so very strange... it was almost like the Echo, yet... it didn't feel right to him.
"Khione... did you happen to see my blindfold on the way here?" The female voice asked, as Sumire felt himself stand. "I lost it somewhere along the path here..."
"No, I hadn't. I'll help you find it on the way back, Theia." Khione replied, apologetically. "And if we can't find it, I'll just get you a new one."
"Thank you," Theia responded, as she took hold of Khione's arm.
This is... not... a dream... is it...?
Sumire realized he wasn't in control of the things he felt, heard, and said... yet... he felt conscious. It was very confusing. He quickly realized the sensations he felt were familiar to him; whoever 'Theia' was, she was blind.
He'd had to learn to sense the world the same way after he'd barely survived the dragon's attack. His right eye was completely blind for years, until he began training as a Dragoon. During that training, he had learned to sense aether and had regained a partial sight that vastly improved his reaction time. He then found he could also use the dragon's blood to see with his right eye more clearly, and that took moons to balance and adjust to.
...He hadn't thought about any of this in a long time.
His focus was pulled back as he felt hands running through his hair; makeshift combing. Yuki had done it to him before, when he'd made them late.
"Your hair is a mess , Theia." Khione's voice playfully scolded.
Sumire let out a breath, as Theia fidgeted, and he decided to relax, and see where this would go.
"That tends to happen," Theia reached up to fluff her own hair; short in the back, with two longer pieces in the front. She wore a slightly oversized robe, which she fixed, then pulled the hood of it up onto her head.
"We were to meet Persephone for tea, if you recall." Khione took Theia's hand to lead her forward. "She said she has someone for us to meet."
"Oh?" Theia perked up, and smiled, "Another star?"
"That's the impression she and Krystallos gave." Khione lifted her hands, and Theia cautiously tapped her foot to find a few rock steps down.
"I wonder what they're like."
"I'm sure they're as unique as we are," Khione said, her grin evident in her voice.
Theia chuckled as they headed along a stone path. She let go of Khione's arm, hurried ahead a few paces, then turned and slowly walked backwards. "I'm glad we were delayed in leaving again. I've almost memorized the whole city... it's such a big, wonderful place."
"You've seemed happier lately," Khione hurried her pace to match Theia's. "Perhaps tonight we could take a walk somewhere you've yet to memorize?"
"I'd like that," Theia smiled, then paused. She turned her head towards a sound and scent that were familiar.
"Persephone, we were just coming to tea. Whatever is the matter?" Khione sounded concerned.
"I'm so sorry. The person I wanted you to meet ran off."
"Are they okay? We don't bite," Theia joked.
Persephone chuckled quietly, then took a moment to catch her breath before she continued. "I don't know. There was a terrible sound, and he panicked. Krystallos went after him... I came to find you both. Have you heard or seen anything?"
"I didn't see anything on the way here," Khione trailed off a bit, thoughtfully.
Theia frowned, "I smell brimstone... and there was a deep growl in the wind." She turned her head into the wind, "The wind is coming from the... park, if I recall my directions."
"We should go," Persephone moved even as she decided. "Carefully."
Khione took Theia's hand, and moved to follow her, "If we find whatever made the noise and scent you caught, I'll find you a safe place for you to stay before I go to help Persephone. Okay?"
"Okay." Theia shifted her hold to Khione's arm, and they sped up a bit.
They hadn't run long before Theia slowed, and coughed. Khione turned to check on her immediately.
"What's wrong?"
"The brimstone smell," she coughed, then reached a hand up to her mouth and nose, "it's mixed with a smoky smell... and it's really strong." Another cough into her hand was followed by a deep growl.
"That sound came from that way," Persephone said, worriedly. "I can't tell if it's coming from the city or heading towards it, though."
"Theia, stay here." Khione hurriedly led her to a large, sturdy tree, then placed her hands on the trunk. "We'll go see what it is making that sound and smell."
Theia nodded, as she coughed again, then frowned. She felt a silk cloth placed into her hand, then lifted her head a bit.
"Take this, it should help with the smell that's bothering you."
"B-But... Persephone... isn't this... your scarf?"
"If it helps you, then I don't mind." Persephone absolutely beamed, as she gently pushed Theia's hand with the scarf. "Stay here, we'll be right back, okay?"
"Th-Thank you." Theia nodded gratefully, then hurriedly tied the scarf around her face to cover her nose and mouth. The smell instantly muted, and she no longer felt the strong urge to cough. She shifted to hold onto the tree, and listened carefully for any signs of trouble or anything she needed to run from.
Her thoughts turned to dreams, and she frowned; her fingers gripped the trunk a little. She scrunched her nose a little, then shook her head. "That dream still haunts me. A city of fire. Alone in the flames. Why do I keep seeing it...?" Theia frowned, then quietly rested her head against the tree. She spoke quietly to herself after a thoughtful moment, "Khione, I worry... is it... because of what happened... then...?" Her thoughts trailed off as she caught the sudden sound of splashing in the distance, followed by faint crying, and a whimper. "I wonder... if that's who we were supposed to meet...?" She turned her head a bit, then sniffed. "Hm...?" She sniffed again, through the scarf...
"Wait... This is near the gazebo we've met at before! I can smell that odd tree from here... even over the brimstone scent." Theia smiled a bit at her recognition, then left the tree. She hurried forward; one hand reaching out for a railing she knew should be around.
It turned out to be further away than she had expected, but she reached the familiar gazebo, and hurried up the few stairs to sit on a bench. The sounds of snarling and items breaking made her flinch, but she took a deep breath and closed her eyes to focus. Her left hand came up to hold her right shoulder as her head lowered.
Sumire felt a sudden shift, and flinched as he suddenly saw the strange vision. He adjusted quickly, and felt Theia relax here.
Before them lay a vast field of colors and shapes. He realized these places and images were distorted to him, but to her, they were perfectly normal... He felt they were things that brought her comfort. She knew precisely where she was in the space, and precisely where to go.
I recognize... some of these colors. They're the unchanging shades of aether for flora.
He touched the scar over his right eye.
...She can see... aether...?
He felt confused. It was how he balanced his sight, and therefore used all the time since he learned it. The dragon's blood helped balance the cost of that method, but came with occasional unbidden visions from the dragon. He knew Y'shtola was permanently blind from her time in the lifestream, and she used that method now all the time. So he wondered, if Theia could do it as well, why wasn't she always using her aether sight to navigate...?
He was solely interested in what lay before him. He no longer wondered what this was nor why he was seeing it, but instead, what would happen. Once more his wandering thoughts were interrupted, as he felt Theia stand, then walk over to a large, dark shape. She calmly reached out to place her hands on its head, as she quietly hummed what he recognized as a sort of lullaby. He didn't remember hearing it before... but it still felt familiar.
The big shape growled, then slowly curled up on the ground, as it fell asleep. Once it had stopped moving, Theia turned to hurry back to her seat, just in time for Khione's worried voice beside her.
"Theia?"
"Hmm?" Theia shifted towards the voice. Her arm lowered onto her lap, and pulled the scarf off her face on the way. Khione put an arm around her shoulders and gently pulled her in.
After some hurried scuffling, Theia heard Persephone greet Hades, followed by a soft sigh and a snap. She heard crackling of a crystal substance she associated with a cage, or a prison the guards would use on stray creations.
"Where have you been, Hythlodaeus?" Hades asked, exasperated.
"I went to get people to help transport the escapee back!" His grin was evident in his barely held-back chuckle. "C'mon, I knew you had it, Hades." He moved towards the sleeping, crystal-prisoned creature with a flourish of his robe. "And you did!"
Hades sighed, then also moved towards the sleeping creature. "It's quite strange that a wild creature like this managed to escape from Lahabrea's lab... I'll have to have another talk with him about letting experiments get away."
"Th-That... That one... w-was mine," a new voice spoke meekly. "But... I-I don't know why... it would be... here."
"Is that why you ran from the sound, Asopus?" Persephone asked, as she turned toward the two boys.
"I-I'm sorry. It... It was instinct. Th-The sound... scared me," he whimpered, "I thought I'd screwed up again... I-It should have been sealed in Anamnesis!"
Krystallos frowned, concerned, then hugged the younger man comfortingly. "It's okay, Asopus."
"Why was it sealed there ...?" Hades mumbled. The guards shrank the large crystal prison to a more manageable size, then marked it with a caution symbol before transporting it away. It had happened before, Theia knew exactly what they did. She wondered why something that large and potentially dangerous had been loose in the city in the first place, but the danger was over for now; she could always ponder things later.
Hythlodaeus moved to follow the guards, "I'll handle your paperwork, dear friend~! You spend the afternoon with your beloved!" He then chuckled as he hurried off. Persephone ran over to hug Hades in greeting, as Asopus reassured Krystallos he was better now.
Theia blinked her eyes open, then leaned against Khione tiredly. The older woman ran her hand over the younger one's short, blond hair.
Khione spoke quietly, a slightly scolding tone to her voice, "You know how much that takes out of you, Theia. Why didn't you wait for me?"
"I was worried!" Theia leaned her head towards Khione's hand. "It's okay, I knew where I was. I could smell the strange tree that's always in the park."
Khione paused, then looked around, "The strange tree...? There's no odd trees in the park, Theia."
"Yes there is, I can smell it. It's always here when we're here. It's very distinct." Theia took in a deep breath. She then pointed over towards Hades and Persephone, "It's that way. That strange tree is always here, so I know I'm in the park."
There was a moment of silence as Khione looked between Theia and where she was pointing. After a few moments, Theia hadn't changed her position nor said she was joking... and Khione laughed. She drew attention to the two in the gazebo.
Theia pouted, "What's so funny?"
"Theia, you're pointing at Hades," Khione barely managed between chuckles. She hugged the younger woman, who blinked, then took another sniff of the air.
"Hades smells like a tree?"
"Apparently to you. Oh, Theia," Khione continued to laugh, as Theia blushed, then began to laugh with her. She laced her fingers with Khione as she did so, then leaned into her shoulder.
Hades, Persephone, Krystallos, and Asopus weren't able to hear anything but the girls' laughter from where they were, but Hades had seen her point at him. He sighed again, then hugged Persephone as he mumbled about her odd friends. She just snickered in response.

"Are you sure you're okay, Yuki?" Shoto asked, worriedly; her eyes drawn to the unconscious Dragoon on the Summoner's back. Yuki simply nodded and gave an affirmative sound. "Any ideas what's wrong?"
Yuki shook her head, "No... there's only been one other time I had to carry him like this, but he was very sick then." She just continued forward as she replied. Shoto frowned, then hurried on ahead to keep pace with Emet-Selch. Yuki looked to Sumire's violet hair, and mumbled to herself. "...I'm just... worried about you, Sumi."
He whimpered quietly, and shifted. Yuki looked surprised, then cleared her throat as Sumire reached up to his head.
"Oh good, you're finally awake," Yuki spoke, which alerted Shoto and Emet-Selch to the Dragoon's movements.
"Sumire! Are you alright?" Shoto asked as she hurried back. The Dragoon flicked his ears, then lifted his head to look at her.
"Wh... Where am I...?" He looked up a bit, then sounded confused, "Kho...lusia...? H-How long... have I been... out...?"
"Since whenever you fell asleep last night," Yuki replied for her.
Shoto nodded, "We couldn't wake you up when we arrived this morning. You had us worried!" Her tone was scared, yet he could tell she was relieved to be talking to him. Sumire blinked, then frowned as he lowered his head.
"I... I'm sorry," he flinched, then reached to cover his right eye; his chin dug into Yuki's shoulder a little. Shoto gently patted Sumire's head, then hurried forward to keep pace with Emet-Selch once more. She relayed the info to the Ascian as Yuki shook her head.
The Viera slowed a little, to put more distance between them and the Ascian. "Are you really alright, Sumire...?" Her voice shook a little as she asked, despite her best efforts not to.
Sumire frowned, "I'm... not sure. I don't... remember much about last night. I know... we were on the boat. I remember feeling tired after I ate. I had," he trailed off, then lowered his arm to half hug Yuki's shoulders. "...I had a strange dream."
Yuki frowned, then looked forward again, "Was it one of those dreams?"
"N-No," Sumire stuttered, as he shook his head. He had always told her his 'bad feelings' came from 'the dragon's dreams'. They were what made him wary of situations... and helped them avoid trouble sometimes. This hadn't been anything like that, though... He looked up, then flinched as he looked to Shoto and Emet-Selch, "No, it... I-I'm sorry... for making you... take care of me."
"It's fine," she shifted him a little on her back, "We couldn't very well leave you behind."
"Y-You can... let me off... a-at the aetheryte shard near the entrance. I don't... I don't think I can... make the trek up to it yet." He let go of Yuki's shoulders with one arm, and once again held his head, favoring covering his right eye.
She frowned in response, then lowered her head a little. "Don't be ridiculous. I'll take the stairs up. We'll find you a place in the parlor to sit and rest."
"But--"
"No buts. I won't have you passing out again because you used the aethernet while low on aether."
Sumire blinked, low on aether...? He hadn't thought that might be the problem... was that... what someone had noticed?
Yuki noticed his silence. "Are you mad at me?"
"Why would I be mad...?" He lowered his arm, then looked down to the path. "I... I hadn't thought of that... being my issue. I should have listened to you when you noticed something was wrong... I'm sorry."
Yuki shook her head as they passed some familiar faces in Gatetown. Most people left them alone, though, even though they could see one of the group being carried. Things were still slow to change, but it didn't seem to bother the Viera. Shoto turned to look back at the two worriedly. Yuki simply nodded and gave her a small, reassuring smile to let her keep going. "Do you remember Ala Mhigo, Sumire?"
"Which... part?"
Yuki gave a nostalgic smile, then glanced at his face for a moment. She took a breath and looked up to the gates ahead of them, "I carried you for a long distance to keep us ahead of the Imperials. You were sick with that terrible fever, but we couldn't stay still. We were the last two left from our group, and they chased us all the way to Kugane."
"I... remember some of that... I was... very out of it then," Sumire mumbled, with a blush.
Yuki chuckled, then nodded, "I took care of you for a week, and didn't stop until we'd found a way to get to Doma..." She frowned, "I didn't want either of us caught... I was so grateful for the Doman Resistance. They didn't have to help us, but... they helped take care of your fever."
"I remember waking up to that Doman girl poking my arm," he mumbled into Yuki's shoulder.
"She was worried! You had been asleep for two days straight," Yuki chuckled, then trailed off. She looked down as they approached the steps up to the entrance of Eulmore. "I was... scared that would happen again. The way you've been acting lately... when we couldn't wake you after we arrived at Venmont Yards... all I could think of was that I had to get you to Eulmore. That Alphinaud might be able to help. Shoto couldn't find anything wrong with you." She briefly glanced up to the guards. They greeted the group as they passed through the door. Shoto and Emet-Selch headed off to head up the stairs, and they seemed to be caught up in a conversation. Yuki wasn't paying much attention to them nor where she was walking. She was distracted enough that she just kept going forward without stopping. Sumire didn't seem to notice either.
"Thank you... Khione," The Dragoon jerked as the name left his mouth. He reached up to cover his mouth, then sounded confused. "Wh... Why did I say that...?"
Yuki wanted to ask who Khione was, but she felt like she should already know that somehow, and never spoke the question. She stopped as she looked up to see they were by the elevator, and blinked. "Ah, I went too far. I wasn't paying attention." Sumire looked ready to be sick, with his hand over his mouth. Yuki looked a bit worn from their conversation.
"Good morning, ma'am! You seem to need the elevator," a Mystel guard spoke up, even as a Hume turned his head away. The Mystel turned to open the doors for Yuki, and gave her an apologetic smile. "This will take you the whole way up. Please relax."
Yuki heard the Hume grumble something, but it was incoherent.
The Mystel seemed to understand him though, then hissed, "Quiet. "
"Thank you," Yuki replied, quietly, and accepted the elevator trip. Sumire stayed silent until they were alone, on the way up.
"You can let me down."
"Sumire."
"I'll take my time walking, and I will sit in the parlor while you go find Alphinaud. If Y'shtola has arrived, I'm sure they're talking." Sumire shifted, and Yuki carefully let go of his legs. He caught himself on the elevator handrail, then leaned against the wall. "Thank you... Yuki. I didn't mean to cause trouble."
"Nonsense," she crossed her arms, as she stared at the doors before them. "I don't mind making sure you're okay... Sumi."
The Miqo'te Dragoon fidgeted, his tail flick back and forth thoughtfully. Sumire then looked up to Yuki, but couldn't find any words to say. He felt guilty for the trouble he'd caused, and that he hadn't told Yuki how he truly felt. His eye was making him dizzy, he was having trouble focusing, and he had felt more exhausted than ever after they left. His ears pinned back, "I didn't want anyone to worry about me... and... instead, I made you all worry about me more. I hadn't thought that my problems could be aether-related, I just... I thought I was doing something wrong. I tried to push through it and take care of it myself, but... that hasn't worked. I don't know what to do now."
"We'll figure out what's going on. Perhaps Y'shtola might have an insight to your aether problem. I'll ask her after we've caught up on everything."
"Yuki... I passed out on you when I was asleep." Sumire stood up, his tail flicked in annoyance with himself. "That's... That's not just a simple problem. I can't just try to sleep more and eat better."
"Maybe it has something to do with your eye," Yuki frowned, but she stayed staring at the door ahead of her. Questions formed in her mind; what she could ask of Y'shtola.
Tumblr media
"I feel like I want to sleep for days..." Yuki stiffened her shoulders at his admission. Her ear twitched as he continued, "There's a part of me that's not surprised you couldn't wake me... but... that dream I had while unconscious confuses me. I saw..." He trailed off. Yuki finally turned to look down to him.
"...You saw what, Sumire...?"
"I saw... nothing. Except... near the end. I saw what looked like a hallucination. It was just... colors and shapes then. Everything else was... sounds. Smells. Sensations."
"That's... an odd dream."
"Yuki..."
"Hm...?"
Sumire flicked his ears, then looked up to her, concerned. His right eye was closed, as if it bothered him. "It felt like when I was younger. Right after I was hurt."
"When you... lost... your sight...?" She looked to his right eye, and he nodded once.
"They weren't sure if I'd be able to see again, so they covered both of my eyes until the wound healed. I lived like that for a few years. They figured that I'd been completely blinded and never bothered to check... I just... accepted that."
Yuki nearly forgot where they were, and turned to look at Sumire fully. She only knew pieces of his past. He'd never hidden the fact that his eye was technically blind, but she didn't know that much detail. "They eventually learned you could still see then?"
"S-Sort of. The Matron wanted to see if I could get rid of the blindfold. My left eye was very sensitive to light for nearly a moon until it adjusted to being used again. I felt very lucky I had retained any sight, but... it took a long time to adjust..."
"This dream of yours felt like that, then...?"
"It was the dream of someone who had no sight. Everything else was amplified to make up for that. The pieces I could see anything in, were so fanciful and colorful, as if the person had never seen what anything was really like, but... I," he trailed off, his tail curled the other way, and he touched his chest. "I felt like I knew what everything was supposed to be... even if I don't quite remember every little detail now."
"Maybe it was just your mind remembering something from then. You were unconscious." Yuki explained. Sumire shook his head before he had a chance to think about her reply, but he took a moment to think.
"I... I heard..."
Yuki tilted her head as he hesitated. Even she could hear the bustle from the Canopy as the elevator slowed, and glanced to the doors. "You heard what, Sumire?"
"...Emet-Selch."
The doors opened with a ding, as the elevator stopped. Yuki couldn't respond, as Shoto called for them, worriedly. Yuki took Sumire's arm to help him walk out of the elevator. He accepted her help and let her choose what seat he would sit in.
"I was so worried when I looked back and realized you two weren't behind us. I was going to take the elevator back down. Is everything okay?"
"Everything's fine, Shoto. One of the guards down below let us use the elevator to come up. We took the offer. I'm sorry we worried you." Yuki smiled. Shoto shook her head and sat across from Sumire at the table.
"Sumire, are you feeling better?"
"I-I'll be okay. However, I promised Yuki I'd wait here for you to find Alphinaud. I won't go anywhere, I promise," he smiled at her, reassuringly.
Shoto pouted a little, then nodded and pointed a finger at him. "Okay, but I'll hold you to that!"
He blinked, then smiled a little and nodded, "If I don't behave, I expect both you and Yuki to let me have it." He gave Shoto a small chuckle, then looked out to the ocean. He seemed immediately distracted, and the female Miqo'te stood up to look at Yuki.
"Any idea where," Yuki paused, then glanced around, "...where our other... associate... is?"
"He... said he didn't want to cause trouble up here... in case someone recognized him." Shoto frowned, then crossed her arms, "So he went back down for a walk. That's how I realized you two weren't behind us on the stairs."
Yuki frowned, disapprovingly. "I feel like we shouldn't let him out of our sight."
"He won't leave." Shoto immediately argued, then blushed slightly. "That is. He promised me he'd stay around the area before he headed off..."
Yuki frowned more, then looked to Shoto for a moment before she gave up for now. She looked past Shoto, "Alright, alright... but do we have any ideas where Alphinaud might be?"
"He may be in a morning meeting with Chai-Nuzz upstairs. We could ask?"
"Hey. Come to think of it... that guard said the elevator would take us all the way to the top, but it stopped here..."
"That's probably just a habit. It's been a long time since anyone could freely go upstairs, remember?" Shoto turned to head off. She spied Alphinaud heading over to the parlor with Chai-Nuzz and cheered up immediately. "There he is! I was right!" She wiggled her ears proudly, then turned to look at Yuki. The Viera had looked back to Sumire in the moment of silence. Shoto pouted, then tugged her arm. "Yuki, c'mon. Let's go check in with Alphinaud."
"Eh?" She blinked, then looked away from the Dragoon, and spied Alphinaud; who had caught sight of them across the way, and waved. Shoto happily waved back and headed off. Yuki hesitated, but followed her a moment later.

None of us meant for this update to take over a month. @_@; It feels like the time literally just blew past. But! Here's Chapter 16 for all of you lovely starlings. Angel's computer is having issues, so the art of Theia that she'd been working on for the Amarout portion of this chapter got lost. :( As always, thank you all for your support and patience!

You slowly make your way down to the Karasuno club room, Sugawara had run off to the bathroom which left you alone; not that you minded of course. Sometimes a little bit of peace and quiet while you wander past various different crews is nice. It allows you to have the freedom of walking from place to place and being able to let your eyes roam around your surroundings. Normally with Sugawara you had only kept your eyes on him and the road ahead, not wanting to seem disinterested in the many things he talked about. You notice how the clubrooms are closely packed together, the smaller teams sit in one area while the bigger teams are only a few metres apart - and that the more… successful crews have more members and a larger room. Shiratorizawa was slightly larger than Dateko’s, Seijoh and Karasuno’s. You guess it's simply because they are the champions and need the extra room to store their trophies. Dateko and Karasuno are on the same side, Seijoh and Shiratorizwa mirror them which forms a square between them. You let a small smile ease it’s way onto your face, it was freezing but you were excited to speak with Shouyou and congratulate him on his race.
You freeze when you hear a quiet sob, you narrow your eyes as you look around you but no one seems to be crying - there’s no one outside either. Just when you get ready to move again you hear another sob, and against your brain’s desire, you make your way to the sound. You can't help yourself, you hate it when someone is in pain.
There is a figure hunched over behind a tree and from where you’re standing they look like a guy. You slowly walk up to them and put your hand on their shoulder before crouching down next to them; ‘hey are you alright-- Oikawa! What are you doing here?’
Oikawa wipes the tears off of his face and looks away from you, his body shrinking into itself as if he was trying to protect himself. ‘Listen up, brat, I don't care about you nor do I know you. Why are you here? What did I do to deserve being plagued by you? Why can't you just leave me alone huh?’
You retract your hand and let out a long sigh. He was obviously upset and didn't mean the things he said; or maybe he did, but it didn't matter, all that mattered was that you knew he was alright - even if you despised him to some degree. ‘Oikawa… I’m sorry, I'm not sure what’s made you so distraught but I want to help… is there anything I can do-’
‘No! Just leave! I don't want nor do I need you here.’
The kind smile you put up to comfort him shakes a little before it regains its composure. ‘Should I get Hajime?’
The atmosphere becomes deafeningly silent and stays that way for a minute, ‘no,’ he whispers as more tears roll down his crimson cheeks, ‘I know we have this strange relationship where we both dislike each other but do me a solid, don’t tell anyone you saw me like this.’
You have to lean in close to hear him and you find yourself shivering at his voice, it was smooth and sweet like chocolate and you think it suits him completely. ‘I promise, and I know we don't like each other, but I have an idea to make you feel better… let's be friends for the night,’ you say as you place your hand back on his shoulder.
He flinches like last time while he looks at you - shock written all over his face, ‘I'm sorry what?’
You lose your balance which results into you falling onto your behind and you feel your face heat up; ‘I- well, it's just that I thought maybe we could just head over to some fast food restaurant and get you a drink to cheer you up and get your mind off of whatever and, and I uh thought maybe it was best to go with me because um I don't know maybe a stranger’s company is what you need?’
He scowls at you before sighing and getting up, ‘yeah… maybe you’re right. Let's be friends for the night.’
✄.
You find yourself in the passenger seat of Oikawa’s car and despite your initial thoughts, the car doesn't smell half bad - in fact it smells good, it reminds you of hot cocoa on a winter’s day. You look out the window and see the street lamps fly by and soon enough, you arrive at an all day Starbucks located at a seemingly abandoned gas station.
Oikawa gets out of the car first and walks around to open the door for you; ‘you didn't have to do that…’
‘I didn't but I did anyway so you should be saying thank you.’
You resist the urge to scoff and instead, opt to roll your eyes in a semi playful manner, ‘yeah you're right, thank you my King,’ you fake courtesy after you get out.
You look up to see him scowling down at you but still doing his best to bite down a smile, ‘come on, let's just get a drink and never speak again.’ You laugh at that.
✄.
‘I'll get one vanilla bean frappe, thank you, oh uh… medium size thank you!’
‘Your orders will be ready shortly!’ says the cashier.
Oikawa leads you over to an empty table that was seated towards the back of the food court. ‘So you have a sweet tooth huh?’
‘Yeah I guess… could say the same for you? An iced coffee with caramel.’
His lips twitch up into a smile, ‘yeah I guess.’
You sigh as you lean back into the chair, ‘we totally got off on the wrong foot, didn't we?’
Oikawa looks out the window, ‘yeah we totally did… I guess I'm partly to blame.’
You make a sound of agreement, ‘yep. I know you said that this would be a one time thing, but I think so far it’s been nice to be with someone who doesn't really know you. I'm not sure… I'm tired so I'm really just rambling.’
‘No, I understand perfectly. Being with a stranger, someone who doesn’t know you, feels free I guess. They don't know what's going on in your head and they are entitled to know how you're feeling or whatever.’
Silence takes over as you both continue to drink. ‘Maybe… maybe we could become friends or something?’
Oikawa sighs and looks at you with an unreadable expression, ‘no. That's the deal we made, we aren't going to become friends. But… you did help me feel a bit better I guess, I'm not crying anymore so that's a plus…’
You bite your lip and look away, contemplating on what to say next. Oikawa’s gaze is still focused on you, making you feel small. You look him in the eyes, ‘let's stay as strangers.’
He lets out an amused scoff, ‘stay as strangers? What's the supposed to mean?
Suddenly you feel nervous, naked and exposed. ‘Well I just thought that uh maybe, maybe you and I could, umm, we could y'know do this every so often? But stay as strangers… we just meet up get a drink and stay in each other’s presence but we don't get to know each other-’
‘I like it. But let's set some rules as well, yeah?’ your eyes widen in shock, you didn't think he would actually agree. ‘First off, no interacting with each other away from this, and if we do we continue to be rude to each other? We stay as far away as possible - mentally that is.’
‘Second rule, no falling in love.’
‘Shouldn't that be obvious?’
‘I- yes, yes it should but you seem to have a thick skull so I have to make sure you know.’
He smirks, ‘well, looks like you can be mean.’
‘What's that supposed mean!?’
‘Oh? Absolutely nothing darling,’ oh, there it is; that irritating pet name, ‘let's continue with our rules. I say for rule three we tell nobody.’
‘Agreed, so far we have, one - stay as strangers, two - don't fall in love slash become friends and three, tell nobody. How about one more, we can confide in our problems with each other but not get to know each other on a personal level?’
‘I like that.’ he smiles, and God it is so beautiful. I think that’s about right. How about I take you home?’
You look up at him and smile, ‘that’d be helpful.’
✄.
You watch as Oikawa’s car speeds off into the night before you make your way to your apartment which is regrettably on the third floor. Trudging up the stairs you curse at yourself for making a deal with the devil - no, not Oikawa, but with the landlord who told you that the ‘three flights of stairs was short and easy to walk up.’ What utter bullshit.
You pull out your apartment keys and go to open the door but something is blocking your way. Looking up from the floor you find this something to be someone, and this very someone is the very ex-lover who shattered your heart. ‘Kiyoko,’ your voice is breathy and shaky, it sounds as though you are trying to convince yourself that what you see before you is real and not an illusion.
She looks down, ‘hey Yn,’ she starts off softly, ‘I thought maybe we could talk… you weren't at The Garage tonight with everyone else and I assumed you still lived in the same apartment.’
You glare at her, ‘I'm sorry what? How do you know about The Garage?’
Kiyoko looks taken aback, ‘I'm the other manager. You didn't know that?’
Now it's your turn to be confused, ‘no, no I did not. I just assumed that someone had the same name as you…’ you felt like an idiot because what you are telling her is the honest truth.
She quietly giggles, ‘I see. Well I haven't been there the past two weeks… I've been out of town-’
‘Please just get to the point,’ you beg.
‘I think it’s fate. I want to give it another go- I want to give us another go. I still have your number and I know you still have mine…’
You scowl at her as you walk past into your apartment, ‘and get my heartbroken? Again! No thanks.’ And with that, the conversation is over and the door is slammed on Kiyoko’s face.
You walk into your room and sit besides the bed. Kiyoko’s offer is tempting, you really do want nothing more than to climb back into her arms and inhale her scent, you want nothing more than for her to run her hands through your hair as she places delicate kisses to your forehead. ‘Fuck!’ you yell out.
✄.
Kiyoko walks down the stairs to Sugawara’s car, ‘How’d it go?’ he asks. She looks away and he takes it as a sign that she doesn't want to speak about it. ‘Still, I really had no idea you and Yn had a history like that… Why did you two break up?’ She stays silent and Sugawara knows he should drop the subject.
