If I remember right you ocne had a discussion on what would happen of Splinter had to take Leo to the hospital and effectively expose himself as Lou Jitsu and stuff and it randomly popped back into my head where like... he has to go through a ton of televised interviews and stuff cuz a famous action movie star disappearing for 20 years and coming back as a rat with four biological sons who happen to be turtles is really really weird even with New York's standards and lots of people want to talk to him about it. I can think of two ways this goes down...

Either Splinter is reluctant and very tight lopped about his kids and where they've been and only giving the bare minimum...

Splinter goes ALL IN on talking about his kids and how proud he is of them! It's less an interview about saving the world and more Lou Fucking Jitsu taking tbe opportunity to brag to the whole world about his kids and how much he loves them!! He even brings out the baby pictures!

Honestly, I think Splinter wouldn’t tell anyone anything. He is proud of his boys, and if things were normal, he’d talk about them for hours without holding back! But they just got exposed after the invasion and things are really bad, Leo is recovering and they really just want to rest, so he gives them the bare minimum. Maybe another day, where they have the freedom to choose if they want to be in the spotlight, he’ll happily share those photos and tell stories about their childhood, but Splinter is a good father who would put their needs before all else. Besides, he’s done with being famous by the end of the show, he just wants his family happy and healthy.

💬 Xports News: Highlights from Interview for the 'Promising Star of 2018' Segment' - on Just Between Lovers, Monsters, and The Wrestler (by reporter Lee Ayoung)

Xports News met three promising new stars who are expected to shine in 2018, coinciding with the Lunar New Year. These include Park Gyuyoung from JTBC's drama 'Just Between Lovers', Jo Seunghee from OCN's 'Meloholic' and SBS's 'Bravo My Life', and comedian Han Yoonseo from tvN's 'Comedy Big League'. We heard their goals and resolutions for the year. Interviews with Park Gyuyoung, Jo Seunghee, and Han Yoonseo will be sequentially released from the 16th to the 18th.

If you're a viewer of JTBC's drama 'Just Between Lovers', there's a supporting actress you can't forget. It's Park Gyuyoung, who played the role of Somi, an employee at the architectural office where Ha Moonsoo (played by Won Jinah) works. Although somewhat annoying, she is not disliked, and her bubbly yet not over-the-top behaviour blends into the drama, adding vibrancy.

"I'm calmer than Somi in real life," says Park Gyuyoung. "When I went to the set, the staff treated and welcomed me just like Somi, so I always felt 'uplifted'. As a result, quirky expressions and playful actions came out naturally," she reveals the secret behind her lively acting.

Her formal training in acting began after she was scouted as a trainee by JYP Entertainment in 2015. She got noticed by the magazine 'University Tomorrow' after uploading her pictures on social media (SNS), which led to her being featured on the cover, and subsequently, her current agency proposed the path of acting to her.

"I never dreamt or even imagined acting, as I didn't think it was my field. But I got a good opportunity and have been enjoying it. If I hadn't gone into acting, maybe I would have graduated from school and gotten a job? I think 'University Tomorrow' was a somewhat fated move."

She debuted in 2016 in singer Jo Kwon's music video 'Crosswalk'. Following that, she appeared in dramas like 'Suspicious Partner', 'Solomon's Perjury', and KBS Drama Special 'Kang Deoksoon's Love History'. Even with limited screen time, she had a noticeable presence. In 'Just Between Lovers', her solid and natural acting made it hard to believe she had only just over two years of experience. Comments like "she's a great actor" were often seen. Could there be a better compliment for a rookie?

"It really, really made me happy. Among those, I still remember comments saying '(Her role) fits her perfectly'. It was almost overwhelming. There's still a lot I need to learn and improve on, so it's a bit embarrassing, but it feels good, and I can't hide that."

She grew through praise from senior actors on set from actors such as Lee Kiwoo and Won Jinah. Park Gyuyoung recalls, "That was really empowering and fun." However, she shyly smiles, attributing her success more to the script than her own skill.

"Compared to those who have majored in acting or have long experience, I have less experience, so I think I only know how to melt what I have into my roles. My expressions are also based on how I usually am with friends or parents, as I'm quite affectionate with them. I still have a lot to learn, study, and research, like methods of creating a character."

Before filming 'Just Between Lovers', Park Gyuyoung had completed two movie shoots and appeared in several dramas. She had a non-speaking role in 'Suspicious Partner', but many people remembered her.

When asked about her charm, Park Gyuyoung shyly smiled and replied, "It might be my bright smile." She added, "But I'm more contemplative than I appear, and my voice is lower than one might think. So, I want to try more serene and emotional roles, not just cheerful ones."

She is looking forward to the releases of the movies 'Monsters' and 'The Wrestler' this year. She's a star recognized first by the screen. Furthermore, the film magazine 'Cine 21' named her as 'the most noteworthy newcomer of the year.'

Hearing that, she thought, "Why am I considered a promising actor?" She was curious about who else was selected. "There were really famous people too. It's unbelievable and still doesn't feel real. But, I think I should be ambitious. It won't be easy, but it would be a lie to say I don't have any ambition."

'Monsters' is Park Gyuyoung's film debut, where she played dual roles. "It was my first time, so I was overwhelmed, but I created a path through many conversations with the director," she said. "It's a precious memory. I'm excited too, as I haven't seen the final version yet."

In 'The Wrestler', she appears as Lee Sungkyung's sister, sharing meaningful experiences with senior actors like Na Moonhee, Sung Dongil, and Yoo Haejin. During the script reading for 'The Wrestler', she received compliments from Na Moonhee, who remembered her even when they met again during the filming of 'Just Between Lovers.' "Such memories are truly valuable," she remarked.

"Acting is still purely fun for me. Being on the set made me realize there's more to consider. One thing is, just as the senior actors treated me humanely and helped me feel at ease, I want to do the same for nervous juniors when I become a senior."

This Lunar New Year, she plans to spend time with her family in her hometown of Busan. Her parents are her number one fans and monitors, supporting her in everything she does. During the broadcast of 'Just Between Lovers', her family had a chat room where they exchanged real-time comments like 'cute' or 'this one is a bit off'.

Her goal for the year is modest. "In 2017, it feels like I've slowly shown that Park Gyuyoung exists," she said. "In 2018, I want to show more of my capabilities in more media and better roles."

That is something that might happens often in a Galaxy with so many different languages! Zivs name "Ziv Odiz'Zee" are actually the Tynnan words that directly translated into Galactic Basic mean "rowan" and "Springdancer". Tynnan usually change their familynames into a patronym or matronym fitting to the parent they want to associate with (be this parent related to them or not) or they chose to be associated with a certaine charactertrait, the place they live or grew up at or the work they are working. It is a inofficial "coming of age"-ceremony for a Tynnan to go through the beaurocratic process of changing their name as soon as they come of age and their new name is given into the planet-wide lottery so they are now able to be chosen as a member of the planets gouverment. Usually when a Tynnan leaves Tynna they change their name into Galactic Basic, so it is easier to understand for the aliens in the Galaxy. However, as Ziv had not been raised on Tynna her name given to her at birth and which was only suppsoe to be a placeholder until she changes her familyname as an adult (maybe evenmroe than ocne, considering how her personality and values would change during her life), became her permanent name. And as she has no interest in leraning the Tynnan language, she also has no idea that her name has an actual translation in Galactic Basic. Later, when she joins Deep Current, she is actually called automatically "rowan" by her colleagues there, as the Tynnan speak Galactic Basic with her and in that manner also automatically translate her Name into Galactic Basic.

Fair. Again, we don't know what Lilith is planning. We have only seen her once, and I mean, the fewer people in on the plan, the better; maybe even and Lilith swapped places. idk, we'll have to see

As for Lucifer, if he can neglect his kid for years and then come back into her life, why can't Lilith do that? His depression has nothing to do with it, ultimately he still neglected Charlie for years like Lilith is doing, except it was tot he point of her thinking he was disappointed in her

Adam carries no guilt or shame, yet people villainous her but not him, which is also hypocritical of them

Also, honestly, i wouldn't be surprised if there was a power stuggle. We don't know if there was one. I mean, there probably won't be since we aren't supposed to agree with heaven, and their supposed to be the bad guys

I was trying to make a point that if someone is threatening you, you're gonna react off of fear and adrenaline; and again you have to remember they don't actually know the people's moral wrongs and rights. And, not really? I dont think it's supposed to be some sort of social commentary, I mean, you can view it that way, I guess? Okay, let's say that they did divorce, which I'm not even sure if they did, and Lilith took Charlie to live with her

She CLEARLY did not keep Charlie AWAY from Luci, we see portraits/pictures of Charlie as a kid young adult, teenager, etc, in her dad's office/home

We even see family portraits with her as a kid and teen/young adult, so the divorce was also probably not until she was already fully grown

Keep in mind, Chalrie is canonically 200 years old, or older, this divorce could've been when she was, like, 180 she probably wasn't a kid when the separated

So even if she was taking Charlie away in that scene, it clearly was not forever and honestly doesn't seem possible with the timeline

"She abandoned charlie" so did....Lucifer??

Like, she mentions him not contacting her for a long time, the one phone call she DOES get from him is about a meeting, not exactly a meaningful conversation

And if he became like this after the 'divorce', then unless lilith divorced him and then left. That probably means Charlie hasn't had a meaningful talk with her dad for longer than 7 years

Or even seen him, I forget if Charlie says that 'this is the first time I'm seeing him in years' or smth

Not to mention Charlie clearly still loves her and views her in a positive light

"Shes in heaven" Okay....we don't know why tho??

I mean, personally, I like to think she's planning war crimes against heaven and is using whatever deal she and Adam had as a cover up

Your eyes pop open just in time to see Jungkook on-top of Jimin hitting him repeatedly on the face while Jimin manages to push him off of him and begin his fist fight against him. He straddles Jungkook to the floor and punches are thrown left and right. Now the sudden headache of seeing the two brothers fight has began in your head and you cannot stand hearing the groaning and yelling between them. Bringing your hand up to signal them to stop, you realize they don’t even know you’ve awakened.

 Jungkook on the other hand is not having it so he throws Jimin off of him harshly making Jimin groan. The way he grabs Jimin’s collar with venom fast strength finally gives you the courage to yell out to them.

‘‘ Stop! Damn it, you two are like literal fucking teenagers. Act your age!”

The both of them turn their heads toward you slowly. Jungkook drops his fist, which was going to connect with Jimin’s face. You take a good look at them. Freshly bruised from each-other. Great.

‘‘ You think fighting is going to solve this problem huh? Get over here now.” You say, eyebrows furrowed in anger.

Jungkook gives Jimin a death glare before rushing to your side and feeling your forehead. You slap his hand away and pull him down by his shirt only for him to recieve a harsh slap to the forehead.

‘‘ Shit!” He stumbles back and rubs his forehead. He shoots you a glare, wanting to yell at you but doesn’t.  You motion for Jimin to come to you too. He raises his eyebrows in amusement.

‘‘ I don’t think it’s necessary for you to do that..” He says, as if your death glare towards him isn’t enough to tell him you aren’t joking whatsoever.

He gets the memo when you disregard his comments before hanging his head low and bending down a little to your height. One slap against the forehead and two across the wrists.

‘‘ That’s for you fighting He was only looking out for me. The last two were for having a psychotic girlfriend who almost killed me. Look at my wrist!’‘

You hold them out to see two I.V’s, one for blood transfusion and the other a regular for nutrients on your right wrist. Both of them bandaged up which does need to be changed because of the old blood.

‘‘ I know and I’m sorry. I didn’t know she would be this upset.’‘ Jimin says, hanging his head low. Jungkook rolls his eyes at him out of annoyance.

‘‘ Whatever. I already called my lawyer for your case. Since Isabel tried to attempt murder to you, you will win this case for sure.’‘ He proudly leans against the wall hoping to atleast crack a smile from you.

You don’t smile though. The last thing you need is another scandal. If this were to make the news and blogs right now then it could be a bad thing. You’ve just started your modeling career again and right now would be the worst time to have something like that. 

Jimin leans on the wall with his hands in his pockets, still avoiding locking eyes with you which is something he usually does. Something tells you that he’s hiding something. Something that you just can’t put your finger on.

‘‘ The police will come shortly for witness statements and your statement. Then they’ll call for a court date as soon as possible.’‘ Jimin’s voice low, illuminating with a hint of sadness.

Out of curiosity you want to say something more. To ask him whats going on and why he’s acting rather like this. It’s really not like him. He’s hiding something for sure and you just cannot put your finger on it. You just agree and pull out your phone. A missed call from Ryan. You try texting her and she almost always responds immediately. This time she doesn’t. What’s really going on?

You don’t know but Ryan took it upon herself to pay Isabel a visit. Usually visitors aren’t allowed for people in holding but with a little sweet talk of hers she got to get atleast 10 minutes to talk. That’s all she needs. When it comes to you, her bestfriend, she never messes around. Hearing the news from Jungkook yesterday she almost went luncatic. Throwing things at him, calling his brother every disrespectful name in the book. Oh she hates him now for sure.

Jungkook had to stop her from going over to the hospital to beat his ass into a bloody pulp for causing you pain and getting together with that crazy girl just to break up with her. Ryan was heated. 

But now she can take this heat and serve some to Isabel right now. She walks with confidence into the room. Nothing and nobody can stop her and if they even try, she’ll chew them up and spit them out. Catching a glimpise of Isabel sitting at the table with her hands cuffed and security next to her, Ryan shoots her a devious glare.

‘‘ What brings you here? I expected my boyfr-’‘

A harsh slam from her hands hit the table as she bends a little to her seated level, ‘‘ He’ not your fucking boyfriend. You were lucky I wasn’t there to beat your fucking ass.”

The guard tenses up at the sounds and sudden movements. Ryan notices, and decides to take her seat to calm down before she’s the one sitting behind the jail bars too. 

‘‘ Ryan.. I thought we were friends?’‘ She frowns, pouting her lips while fake wiping tears away. 

Ryan scoffs,shaking her head ever so slowly with a devilish grin on her face. “ We aren’t. Don’t let me catch you un-attended without your manager or body guard.. Isabel.’’

Isabel laughs one of her evil laughs, throwing her head back then coming back up, “ Oh how cute. Is this a threat from little ol’ you? Me and Jimin were doing just fine before your bestfriend had decided to enter his life again. I’m not the only bad guy here. She should know boundaries for taken men. Ex’s aren’t supposed to be firendly and lovey dovey. Spending nights and going everywhere with each other. Especially when one’s a famous idol with another idol girlfriend. Do I make myself clear?”

“ Maybe you should take that up with your hoe of a boyfriend. He’s the one who can’t leave her alone.” She yells, inches away from Isabel’s face. The two stare at each other long and hard. Isabel is no match for Ryan though.

The guard clears his throat to break the two’s glares. The tension is thick in the air.

“ If you ever touch yn again, I’ll make sure you’re the one in the hospital this time around.”

‘‘ You’ll all see. I’ll win this court case. Trust me… there’s things you do not know.” 

Ryan rolls her eyes, strutting her way out the room with the sound of her heels clicking right behind her. Consider the message recieved. 

It’s been one week after the situation. In which in between those days you were dismissed from the hospital and have been in at Jimin’s house ever since. You didn’t want to be here. You want to be at home with your cat, Clara. Jungkook’s been going over to feed and play with her. Jimin kept pleading for you not to return home just yet because it could be a danger to you. It makes sense. You never know what Isabel has up her sleeve. 

So you’ve been sitting here doing the same old thing everyday. Eat, watch movies and netflix tv shows,  sleep, and repeat.

Jimin would come in and out of his home studio to check in on you. He still has to work on producing and singing his songs. He’d bring the food and your medicine he prepared per usual,  kiss your forehead, and go right back out to producing his highly anticipated album.

It all seems fake to you. Something is off. Something is not being told to you. You can feel it in your gut but can’t put a finger on it.

‘‘ This is so cliche.’‘ You murmur to yourself, switching the flat-screen T.V off.

And as if on cue Jimin comes inside your- well his room with a glass of water and prescribed pain killers for you. The slight smile on his face makes you want to smile but you don’t.

‘‘ Smile for ocne yn. Do you not like staying here?’‘ He says, sitting next to you on the side of the bed and places the glass in your hands.

You furrow your eyebrows at him, taking the two pills out of his palm. “ No.. but be honest with me Jimin okay?”

His face turns a quick shade of pink then pale as if you had said the wrong choice of words at the wrong time. As if he had seen a ghost at this very moment. That’s not a good sign at all.

‘‘ Are you.. hiding something from me?’‘

The atmosphere is thick and silence fills the room. You don’t say anything and he doesn’t either. Your eyes meet his and for once they don’t pull away first. 

Jimin doesn’t know how to break it to you though. It’s now or never.

‘‘ She will never leave me.”

You bite your lip hard, “ What do you mean?”

“ That she said that she’d do everything to ruin our relationship if we continue to persue one. She’d spready rumors about you to Dispatch. Make a scene whenver you’re near me. Anything she can do, she will do it.”

You don’t know how to take this all in. You knew Isabel was possesive but not this possesive. The thought of her doing things on purpose for you to make everyone hate you makes you want to cry. To just bawl your eyes out right here right now. You can’t.. you won’t do it. 

You won’t give in because thats what she wants. To make you cry. To ruin your reputation and work. Jimin came back into your life and of course you don’t know what to do or how to deal with it. But this is what you wanted right? You’ve been longing for you and him to get a second chance. It’s you. You’re the one who’s been putting things off and not letting things go with the flow. Maybe he came back to you because he realized how wrong he was for cheating on you. For leaving you behind. For not seeing things for truly how it is. 

You knew Isabel was bad luck from the beginning. Now is the time to try and take back what was originally yours. That will hurt her more than ever. 

“ She needs to have a reality check. Not everything revolves around her.”

‘‘ I agree. Putting her behind bars might give her a reality check. It should serve her right for harming people.” Jimin sighs. 

The silence is thick. You both don’t know what to say and it’s sure as hell awkward more than ever right now. Until that silence breaks. 

‘‘ I feel like you aren’t being your true self to me. If we are getting things out now.” 

His sudden comment makes you lift your head up from playing with the comforter. “ What do you mean?’’

‘‘ You.. don’t want to take actions on what you feel, say, or want to do with or about me. It’s killing me inside.”

He’s right. You do try to push your feelings aside no matter what the cause is. It’s just you trying to not set yourself up for hearbreak again. You do want him. You do want everything to do with him. Considering the things that happened in the past, it’s no doubt theres a fence guarding your heart from intruders. 

You exhale out heavily, “ Im just.. scared.’’

‘‘ Of? “

‘‘ Being hurt again.”

Dead silence again. This time he’s the one trying to come up with words to redirect your view of him. Yes, he broke your heart in the worst way possible. He wants you to see he’s changed. 

Jimin bites his lip, voice shaky when he begins talking again. ‘‘ How can I show you that i’m not the same anymore. Im not I promise you. I want you to see I have changed. I know it’s my fault. I destroyed you but let me fix it.”

It’s all come down to this. You’ve wanted this and now is the chance to get it. Now is the chance to have what was once yours. But the feeling of doubt had taken its course on you at the worst time.

‘‘ Jimin.. how do I know that for sure?’‘ You say, unintentionally fluttering your eyes at him. To you it’s to prevent from letting tears fall. 

Jimin see’s it as that specific thing you used to do when you wanted him. When you craved him and would drop hints. To be completely honest, you do crave him. You do want him. Make-up sex was something you two used to do often. It was your toxic way of saying im sorry. 

Somehow you want to put that toxic thing into action right now. As fucked up as it is, that’s how you two know you’re sorry towards each other. Actions speak louder than words. 

He closes his eyes for a quick second before clenching his jaw to contain himself. Your weak spot.

‘‘ Stop doing that. Unless you want to start something you don’t want to finish.” 

You smile just a little, hoping he’d get the memo. “ What if I do want to start and finish it..”

As if a car alarm went off, Jimin’s eyes pop back open with a suprised look. That’s the last thing he’d thought he’d be hearing from you. “ Are you sure about that? I mean we don’t have t-”

You lean in closer to where you guys are inches apart, his lips softly rubbing against yours. “ I’m all for it.”

Within seconds, Jimin’s shirt is removed off of you only revealing your blue panties which have became a little soaked with your wetness. He takes in the scent of you before his mouth connects with your thighs, slightly sucking to leave bruises on you.

‘‘ Jimin.. don’t tease me.”  You sigh, laying fully down to spread your legs even more. He hums against your skin making you catch chills up and down your spine.

Do you know anything about kdrama ratings? I'm new to it so I was wondering what numbers can be counted as good ratings?

I’m by no means a ratings expert, but I’m going do my best to explain how Nielsen TV ratings in Korea work as I understand it.

Understanding Korean Television K-drama Ratings:

First of all the Nielsen ratings which are the ones I’m always looking at, are an estimated percentage of households watching a show (not individuals). Korea has 20 something million households and the Nielsen ratings takes a sampling of those to get its estimates. I’m mentioning this because while they are official ratings, they aren’t 100% accurate since they don’t measure individuals and are only sampling a fraction of the households.

When a show gets say a 6% viewership score, it’s saying that 6% of households between a certain time frame (maybe 8-9pm) watched that show, while 94% did not watch. They either watched something else, or didn’t watch any television in that time period. So, this is much different than saying 2 million people watched a show since it only measures households. 

The difference between regular network shows and cable shows

The last thing you need to know is that there are two kinds of dramas: Regular network shows (SBS, MBC, etc) and cable network shows (TVN, OCN). This is important because both measurements are only measuring network to network shows, and cable to cable shows. They never are measured against one another.

Network shows almost always have a higher percentage of viewership. Why? This is because there are a limited amount of networks to compete with, and cable service has a lot more stations, so there is a lot more competition for viewership. So, that’s why you’ll see a network show get 10% viewership and a cable show getting only 2%. 

The takeaway here is that the rating being considered good, depends on it being network or cable. So, if you have a favorite network show and it gets a 5% viewership score, that show is performing under average. If you have a cable show that gets a 5% viewership score it’s actually doing well - above average!

This article says that the average score for a network show (a show that’s just doing fine but not good or bad) is around 6-8% and the average rating for a cable show is 2-4%.  So, the fact that these two cable shows got ratings over 20% on an episode (Crash Landing On You - 21.7%, Goblin - 20%) is quite a feat. On the other hand if you see your favorite cable show getting a 3%, now you know that that’s not actually bad, but average.

Should I care about K-Drama television ratings? 

I’ve noticed that some of my favorite shows have pretty low television ratings, while others that I think are basically garbage heaps, fare pretty well (I won’t call you out ____ drama, you know who you are.) It really depends on the time slot, who it’s competing against, and if the genre is a popular one. 

I love slice of life and quirky dramas, and those usually don’t do well ratings wise. They’re still amazing to me; it just means that households aren’t into them like I am :) I say love what you love, but it’s kinda fun to just check out the ratings to see if they match up with how you feel (mine never ever do lol).

flash review for episode 16 yes i watched it a bit earlier than i should cause i cant help myself!!!!

if u’ve been reading my flash review, y’all know, Y’ALL KNOW, i’m not into the whole suho as a musician idea

im a webtoon!suho stan first and i dont have any regrets, and like??? while i could see where and why they put the leo idea into working, idk........ it’s just not the canon i’ll adapt but i’m very happy regardless that, because of that, we do have a shoutout to seyeon once more

like you could see the series going back to its source of grief, but this time, we accepted seyeon’s gone, and we cherish him for the memories he left us - in a way, suho stayed true to what jugyeong asked of him “cheer up. i’m sure the one who left us don’t want us to suffer for too long”

and it’s a good round-up for seojun too because even as an idol, he didn’t forget seyeon. in the webtoon i believe, he suffered and was traumatised so much from the industry due to seyeon’s death - so in a way, this is quite a nice homage the way the webtoon never really gave, to how seojun sorta overcame that trauma? embraced the industry in the end? idk, if webtoon!seojun stan have any opinions on it, i would LOVE to hear it out

i have ..... to be honest. as much as i adore suho and jugyeong, and i really like the depiction of relationship mr. cha eunwoo and our madam moon gayoung portrayed, i kinda feel suho was sorta out of character towards the end?

not drastically, cause there are some points that i think what suho did would be something webtoon!suho would’ve done i.e. standing up to juyeong for the sake of jugyeong, reading together, COOKING!!!!! but then again, maybe this just came back to me not liking the musician route they gave suho???

and possibly because,,,, idk how to say this delicately and have my points still came across,,, (again, this is very webtoon-heavy reference, which i dont have to compare but am i gonna? yes) but?? suho’s really quiet? as a person? he keeps A LOT to himself? and yes, i understand, he’s shared so much with jugyeong which was why we see him being quite easy-going, but it’s still..... it feels like it’s more the actor being happy, than suho being happy? i think? if that makes sense?

and what i mean by quiet is like, suho is such a private person that almost everything he does is silent. his anger is quiet, his happiness is quiet, his concerns and anxiety even more so, and he’s so reserved as a person, and i’m sure a two-year absent and all that guilt and regret from leaving and not contacting, isn’t something easy to shed. but in the k-drama, all is forgiven. suho’s happy, everyone’s happy. and i just???

maybe i feel it’s a little rushed, perhaps???? yeah, so that’s that!

i’ve always been a fan of park hosan (jugyeong’s father) since i’ve watched him on OCN’s The Guest, and apart of why i feel so sad seeing the drama ends, is because i LOVE what he provided in his role

the whole lim family was just so believable as a family in ways that the webtoon couldn’t give, like, it’s established - but it isn’t as well-developed because in the k-drama, we can SEE how the lim family are very family-oriented, there’s history there, there’s attachment

jugyeong’s father cries every time he’s reminded that his daughters will / can get married, and we can see features that heegyeong clearly inherits a lot from their strong-willed mother, juyeong is an annoying little shit but he’s also so equally protective and loveable at the same time, all the siblings fight, and the parents reprimand, and i know its just a k-drama but this shit moves me

so to see all the family interaction, brought by park hosan, and the rest of the lim family casts, i just..... i get teary-eyed

so i’m quite sad when they didn’t play a final homage of the lim family together in the end, but. yeah, i love them so much

the conclusion with suho-jugyeong story was quite well played until the end - still miss the ponytail-glasses jugyeong though :((

overall: 6/10 but only because it’s the end, a bit rushed? and they didn’t give lee selena the recognition she deserves skdjfkshfkds but...... i really like it overall, i think. i still somehow await for the next episode lmaooo but. yeah. it’s time to let it go. might still write a couple of fanfics tho,,, might still write a couple of fanfics

Re: Finale of OCN's Search

[Yep There Be Spoilers In This Post]

I personally loved it but also hate it because I was right (in most predictions) however I was [gladly] wrong on some.

First let's talk the things I happily got wrong:

Ki Hyung - He was the first of them to get shot... BUT HE LIVES. His wound wasn't fatal but ngl I legit was thinking Oh No This Is It. But the moment Ye Rim and Dong Jin pulled him into the bunker for safety during the fire fight, I immediately thought Oh Shit He Might Actually Survive To The End. And he did! Good for him!

Min Kyu - Listen I love this drama but I admit IT HAS ISSUES. Min Kyu's demise? Another issue to add to my list! I love that at the end he -- the one that was ultimately morally grey and could have followed on the same path as Lee Hyuk -- did the right thing for his teammates. My issue however is the way he died! He wasn't that close to the blast zone for the impact to affect him. I mean, if Dong Jin, who had probably the same distance as him, came out nearly unscathed by that blast, then Min Kyu should have been fine! Or at least not mortally wounded as he was! But yeah, hate how he died but really glad that at least in the end he did, in a way, come out a hero.

No cliffhanger ending! I mean they left it open (on a bittersweet happy note) for possible spin-off but with different characters and possiblity for cameos from those that didn't die, but they essentially wrapped up What Caused The Radiation ordeal and all that other science jazz. Ye Rim's exposition on it to Da Jung was a lovely summation for those still confused about the mutations and whatnot.

Second, Lee Hyuk:

He deserved that ending because he was the true monster in this entire drama.

What he didn't deserve was to mourn over... Well, we'll get to that in a moment.

That's it. Not gonna waste anymore words on that asshat.

Third, let's talk about the things I got right that I really REALLY wish I didn't:

Capt Jo (aka Dong Jin's father) - He being the one to ultimately take down Lee Hyuk was perfect... But goddamn did my heart break over his sacrifice in doing so! Especially since he reconnected (in his own way) with his son!

Min Kyu's demise - I was expecting it, but as I mentioned above I'M NOT HAPPY WITH HOW IT HAPPENED.

And finally *sniffles* Joon Sung - so let me preface that I didn't expect to get so utterly attached to his character like I did! I zeroed in on Ki Hyung but OMG Joon Sung came out of nowhere and captured my heart! And the way he died was everything I knew he would go out and then some! He not only saved his team... BUT HE DIED SAVING DONG JIN! Granted I was upset he didn't strap on the vest from the soldier he stole the gun off of because maybe that might have saved him, but it's very full circle how Joon Sung died saving the son of a man his father tried to kill years ago. Also yeah I rewatched it and some could argue he was jumping in front of Capt Jo, but I also think on some level he knew that Dong Jin was going to shield another innocent thus why Joon Sung had to shield him first! OMG my heart hurt watching his dying words to Dong Jin. Listen I could talk about how that scene played out and how dare the writers of this drama unintentionally gave me a tragic one sided ship (they didn't but the elements of one are there if you spin it as het), but that's a long ass post and I'm typing all this on mobile...

All of the remaining Polaris team gathering at Hee Ra's restaurant and having a meal together - I may or may not have shed a tear over that (briefly) empty seat next to Dong Jin (who had Ye Rim sitting on his other side) that could have been for Joon Sung but alas... Ugh tho I wish they raised a glass for their fallen comrades, but I'm happy they acknowledged them wistfully.

Search ended and I'm happy to report that it was essentially everything I thought it was and should have been. It's not a perfect or highly regarded drama, but I think it wouldn't have been enjoyable for me if it was pretentious or serious/somber. It leaned into the tropes that its specific genre is known for instead of shying away from it like most shows probably would. And because of its characters and how it played itself, Search ended up being one of my personal top five favorite dramas of 2020.
