How death and it's reversal affects my characters
So for now, I have resurrection count up to two: there is Eyris and there is Trahearne.
Tonight I'd like to talk about Eyris, because I am having thoughts about my girlie. Eyris, baby, I'm so sorry.
Eyris needs a while for it all to sink in. When she learns she's dead in the Domain of the Lost and after she regains her memories, she worries about Aurene and her closest friends, but she accepts that there is no way back and she has to just move on into the afterlife.
Then she is sucked out of there and suddenly she is back, alive and in pain because while her body is capable of functioning, it's still in the growth stage. It is due to the place of her resurrection not having enough nutrients (i mean it's a ROCK) for her to just come out in a perfect condition.
After reuniting with Dragon's Watch and Airell, Eyris does everything to focus on Aurene and task at hand. She does not want to confront the fact that she was dead and she is now alive. Because the more she thinks about it, the more fucked up it is.
She was not supposed to be brought back. She knows it was an accident. And I think that's what hurts her a bit? That she "wasn't important enough to be brought back and yet it happened anyway so now people are awkward around her because they were finally free of her". Or at least that's what she tries really hard to push back into the deepest part of her mind.
(Eyris thats not true these people care about you they are awkward because 1) they didnt expect you to be back, 2) Airell committed a taboo by bringing you back and 3) you literally tried to stab rytlock 28 times)
So when all the life-threatening distractions are gone, when all of her close friends leave or are missing, she feels stranded and forced to face the truth. She is not supposed to be alive. She should have stayed dead. Nobody wanted her alive and yet she was there, alive and supposedly well. She was an unwanted accident, she was a problem.
Yes. She spiralled.
So when she suddenly gets this call from "Caithe"... she gets hopeful for the first time in months. Someone needs her. Perhaps her existence isn't an inconvenience after all. You can imagine the pain when it all turns out to be a lie.
Eyris still hasn't really come to terms with her new life. She is avoiding it. Sometimes she even risks her life as if she is baiting Death to take her again. Sadly, her new demon "friend" is very persistent at keeping her alive. And somehow it makes Eyris curious. She wants to know what makes that demon tick. She wants to test her, push her to the limits.
Eyris and Peitha are playing a very dangerous game of metaphorical chess. And Death is watching.

for the multiple commanders asks: 14, 17, 19, and 20 for the team of your choice! (or a different team for each question if you want!) - @wyldblunt
Since I currently can't interview Caim and Johnny's owners you'll get Luca and Ghaelahad for all 4 asks :3
14: How close are they? What do they think of each other?
They are friends but not close friends. Ghael joined Luca after HoT (he awakened after Mordremoth's death to become Aurene's Champion) so Luca thinks of him as a green kid, trying to play hero at first but then he grows to see him capable and strong and a good leader, better than he himself at least. Ghael thinks of Luca as a mentor in some way, he did teach him the ropes as the Commander after all. He also thinks Luca needs a fucking break from being THE HERO tm. Especially after PoF.
17: Are there any that certain members of Dragon's Watch prefer over the others?
Rytlock and Kas prefer Luca, Jory and Rox are neutral, and the others prefer Ghael. Rytlock reasons that Luca has more experience, which is true. And Kas and Luca know each other since they were kids. Braham still blames Luca for Eir's death, they never reconcile. Taimi prefers Ghael because he enables her experiments with the dragon magic affecting him.
19: If they weren't the commanders, would they still be friends?
Probably not. Luca wouldn't really care to make friends with other races if he haven't become the commander. He was quite haughty and spoiled. Think Faren but blessed by a god.
20: Would they pick their co-commander/s over anyone else? Over Tyria's safety?
No. Neither of them would. Luca has big hero syndrome. He either wins or dies, but he can easily sacrifice a friend for the greater good. And well, Ghael was technically born to save Tyria.

Thought I'd try a different type of alternate universe
The Twitch Streamer AU
Subtitle: One small change can make a huge difference
I’m Kazukoh, and I guess you can say I’m a leynet celebrity. Despite being born with a metabolism-afflicting chronic illness, I’ve managed to blossom in my own right.
I guess you can say much like another prodigy born a season or so after me.
Though outside of my diagnosis, my life was fairly average. My Grandma Miimii was horribly injured during a lab accident, and we thought she wouldn’t make it, but she pulled through. If anything, I owe my success to her for being there for me when Mom and Dad can’t.
Went to college, Dynamics, specifically, did an internship with Terranexic after my graduation, as my revolutionary power source that was my final project had all of the Golemancy Krewe’s eyes on me. I remained with Terranexic after my internship as a lab assistant until a position in a relatively small Krewe opened up.
The Krewe I joined was one that made custom Golems for people who were less versed in Golemancy-or were physically unable to put them together. We occasionally also got bulk orders of standard issue Golems, since we could put together simple ones in a relatively quick manner.
It was on one of those bulk-order days that Golemancer Klikk asked the Krewe Chief if we could use the projection-screen terminal to play some videos in the background, since today’s bulk order was extremely simple. Our Krewe Chief, being the generous leader she is, approved. Klikk navigated to a leynet site called “Stream.Ear”, and put on a Calamity tournament, between a handful of Statics-backed teams. Given that I enjoyed playing videogames in my spare time, I thought perhaps I could do such a thing.
~~~
Headset, check. Terminal, check. Motobox and capture card, check. Layout. Check. Leycam, check. Going live now.
“GOOOOD EVENING, GENIUSI AND GENIUSETTES! Golemella here, coming at you live with Super Adventure Box! Yes, folks, the home edition of Super Adventure Box, with 8 completed worlds-but only normal difficulty! I’m not just going to beat it, I’m going to attempt to beat it as fast as possible!
And beat the game, I did, since I’ve been playing for as long as I can remember. While it wasn’t even close to a top 100 on leynet records, it was a fairly decent time.
“And that’s that! Sorry it’s so short, I’m just here to test the waters, but I’ll be back tomorrow night! May all your games be winners, and may all your theories be sound!”
~~~
I’ve gotten quite into the groove regarding content releasing, especially now that I have affiliate status and can get money from this. While my job with this Krewe has good pay and decent benefits, I often allot most of my paycheck to an emergency funds account, given my medical issues, so there isn’t much left for leisure. I do have time for leisure, my Krewe is off 3 days a week, but which days vary depending on scheduling and tasks, but I stream all 7 days a week because I find it fun. I even have a schedule-at least for 6 days. Fun Fridays are party games with my viewers, Speedrun Saturdays are speedrunning games I grew up with, or have played a ton of-not trying for Tyrian records, but just for personal bests, Storytime Sundays are for visual novels, Mondays…I’m not sure yet, so I mainly just play what I feel like that day, Teamwork Tuesday is cooperative Leynet games, Wildcard Wednesdays I pick 3 random games and let my viewers vote on them, then play that for an hour before the process starts again, and finally, ‘Thunder’ Thursday, which is competitive leynet games.
What I’m about to dictate happens on one of those Thursdays.
A viewer of mine gifted me “Tyrian All-Star Battle”, a PVP game where you play as major figures in Tyria’s history, heroic or villainous…well most figures. One great hero has not enough records of their battle style, and the Pact Commander declined their role. Destiny’s Edge and Dragon’s Watch are in, however, as are many high level Pact members from recent history. I tend to alternate between Taimi, Snaff, and Dragon’s Watch!Rytlock, depending on if we need a support, DPS, or tank, respectively. You play in teams of 6, you have a main and secondary of each role (I often play secondary since my mains can take other roles if needed), and winning depends on different win conditions-either most points after a set time limit, or last team standing after a limited set of lives.
I chose Taimi for this set of matches, since I was playing with a team I signed on with, called Damsels in Dynamics, which is all female Asura streamers whom graduated from Dynamics, and we commonly play a team of all Asura heroes-and we already had a Snaff. My other teammates were Zojja, Warmaster Efut, Agent Zrii, and Steward Gixx. Our first matchup was against Team IGD-Inquest Gaming Division, a meta-team for the meta-krewe, though thankfully this was just six of them. They were playing Kudu, Kuda, Teyo, Tazza, Vebis, and Frizz. Kudu’s player was also a streamer, known as “TheBloodyDirector”, and was pretty much the ‘face’ of IGD. We were completely destroyed. TBD took out all of the Snaff and Zojja players’ lives alone, thanks to Teyo’s player taking out Gixx’s player early on. I was pretty much the only one healing, and since Taimi is not a high tier support, led to Zrii’s player getting wiped fast as well. It was down to me, and Efut’s player. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see my chat was blowing up to the point that my own fans could barely even speak. While I was trying to figure out the chaos, my last life was taken. Efut’s player struggled to hold on while I sourced this bomb. It was not a raid at all-TBD’s fans decided to swarm my chat. And he did nothing. This. Means. War.
Every day I would check his channel, and it seems he streams on Mondays and Thursdays, but only plays competitive games on Thursdays (Mondays seem to be clearing single player feats in said games). Every Thursday, I’d rally viewers to help defeat him as one of the matches/games of the night. And every time, I would fail. The closest I got was 4 members defeated before I, as the last one standing, was wiped out, and yes, this was in Tyrian All-Star Battle. That seems to be the game we usually battle in, though we’ve occasionally duked it out in others.
~~~
Another Thursday, another battle. I checked TheBloodyDirector’s stream…and turns out, he’s not streaming today. Instead, he’s hosting another Inquest member. I didn’t catch her name, but she’s advertising doing something called a ‘mukbang’…but she’s just slowly eating a single cup of instant noodles while doing paperwork. I then looked up what a mukbang really was….and immediately hit paydirt. People watch others eat monstrous amounts of food? Sign me up! Now I know what to do on Mondays!-well that, and social eating, depending on my funds during the week. But for now, I’ll just play some casual competitive matches with my viewers.
~~~
Monday came, and I had some extra money stored up, so I ordered 25 family sized buckets of Metrica Fried Moa, sides included, some curtains to obscure the hospital related things in my room, and a fancy leycamera. Hung up the curtains, my multipurpose Golem (A project from my spare time that transforms into various mounts, a hoverchair, or a Scruffy-like Golem) carrying the food, and I installed the leycam, running a quick test with it. The test was perfect, let’s go.
“GOOOOD EVENING, GENIUSI AND GENIUSETTES! Golemella here, and now I know what I’m doing on Mondays. Every Monday is food related! Normally this’ll be social eating, but today I’m doing something special. Some days, like today, will be mukbangs.” I then pulled each and every one of the buckets and sides closer. “I’ve got 25 buckets of Metrica Fried Moa here, and I’m going to eat ALL OF IT. RIGHT HERE. ON STREAM.”
I was shocked. People were HYPED in chat. Some people were worried that I’d fall ill, some others were concerned about my appearance, but nobody was mean. Most people were hyped up to see me eat all this food, and I sure gave them such. I ate ALL of the food on stream, engaging with viewers all the way. However, if anyone asked how I could do this, I kept it a well-guarded secret.
~~~
TBD wasn’t streaming this week, so I organized a spontaneous tournament between myself and a handful of my viewers in Tyrian All-Star Battle. Rest of the week was uneventful, as was Sunday. Monday on the other hand, was my first normal social eating stream. I sent my Golem out to bring back takeout-this time from the Canthan place near Mom’s lab-I moved out and into an apartment owned by the hospital out in Soren Draa, but visit often-and then started up the stream.
“GOOOOD EVENING, GENIUSI AND GENIUSETTES! Golemella here, we’re doing social eating tonight! I won’t be eating as much as I did last Monday, but it’ll still be a sizable amount, since there’s more focus on you, the viewers, my intellectual fans.” I smiled, waving at the camera. I began to interact with everyone, and things were going well. At least, they started out well. The food hadn’t come yet, and I was starting to grow hungry. I kept speaking with fans, answering questions, engaging in conversation, but it was not to last. My stomach growled. Loudly. And the mic picked it up. My face went dark purple and I was completely silent…but the chat. Alchemy’s Catalyst, the chat! Someone made a BETSEAR emote and uploaded it, and the entire chat was spamming it. That did get a slight chuckle out of me. The Golem soon arrived, with food, and I dug in, profusely apologizing as I did. But they didn’t seem to mind, thankfully.
~~~
I started feeling horrific after work one day, but I felt I was still up to streaming. Thought I’d do a Just Chatting stream since I didn’t think I could play a game, either competitive or otherwise-thankfully it wasn’t a Thursday.
“Hey, everyone. Sorry for no game today. I haven’t been feeling the greatest today, so I’m just going to take it easy. But enough about me, how was your day?” I asked, my voice still on the weak side. Questions and answers didn’t go super fast, unfortunately, as my vision started blurring a bit, and I was growing more and more confused.
The next thing I noticed was I was in my bed, hooked up to IVs, and there was a bowl of soup being placed in front of me, atop a tray. I glanced over to the terminal as I ate, and the stream feed was off, but the chat, there were people constantly asking if I was alright. I didn’t get a chance to even let them know what happened until a few days later, since I was resting, not working or streaming, and was under care of a new doctor-one whom watched my streams.
~~~
Even despite everything, I still practiced and practiced, getting better and better at Tyrian All-Star Battle. I was determined to beat TheBloodyDirector at his own game. Loss after loss, some completely wipeouts, others just close. Until that fateful day, where I decided to try Zojja out. I’ve found another hero I love to play. I got into a 1x1 match…against TheBloodyDirector, as, you guessed it, Kudu. And yes, he was streaming this day. Someone suggested in my chat that we hook up, and I was shocked. I heard him splutter over voice comms as well, so I suspect he got the same suggestion. No, random viewer, not happening. But despite this, the match was HEATED. And it was CLOSE. We were neck and neck, if he killed me, I’d kill him shortly after. And given that this was a time match and not a stock one, it was tense. But finally, the timer was up…and I had won. By one kill. Finally…sweet victory against TheBloodyDirector.
(A/N: You thought I was some random writer, but it was me, Kazukoh, this entire time!
Also I'd like to thank ProtonJon, StephenPlays, and Wahnthac for (unintentionally) showing me how Twitch works, and @lewn-acies for the idea for this AU!)
Assumption: Discovering Elona tingled Anwen's Priory senses so hard and she would like a chance to explore now that it's peaceful for a bit
Thanks a lot for the ask! 😁There's so much to say about Anwen's Priory senses, I will barely scratch the surface there but yeah! She's a scholar at heart, even if she has to refrain most of the time, due to other obligations, but Elona was a particularly enriching experience! 📖 For a number of reasons... 😶
"Well... The Pact had already a minimal presence in Elona. Since it was where Kralk had crashed and seemingly gone dormant, Trahearne had sent a few reconnaissance teams to map the terrain and build strong relationships with autochtones within weeks after our victory over Zaithan. We were so confident... So convinced that our alliance, once honed in such a desperate combat would withstand any hardship, destroy every obstacle, defy every fate..."
She shakes her head, a pensive smile piercing the shadows obscuring her features.
"In the end, it was as Dragon's Watch and not as ambassadors of the Pact that we set foot on Elona, but finding colleagues - Vigils and scholars of the Priory- in Amnoon made our arrival easier. We did not have to prove our goodwill at every turn since the Pact had built a reputation in the last few years, and whatever doors remained closed, Kasmeer's silvertongue opened for us. But, I digress... To answer your question, I was impressed by Kas, Rytlock, or even Canach's patience. I mean... Can you imagine? Trahearne, Meryw and I in Elona? Visiting the Tombs of the Primeval Kings, exploring the Forgotten City of Kesho, Fahranur, the First City, or just the numerous ruins left in the wake of Joko's conquest and propaganda! We were... there was a very tangible threat — an End of the World threat — but we were like children in a sweets shop! Too much to see, explore, research and too little time to do so... Unfortunately, we did not take the time to further explore Elona after the defeat of Kralkatoric... We were... Still very shaken by everything that had happened and... homesick... It would have seemed a strange thing to say, a few years back, that we missed Orr."
She shifts in her seat, absentmindedly playing with the ring on her left hand.
Tumblr media
"A homecoming — especially after what we'd been through — is always such a strange experience... You want to pick up the threads of your old life, pretend that nothing has changed, that you haven't changed, but everything keeps reminding you that there's no going back... On the night we arrived in Caer Aval, Trahearne made sure that we would never look back with regret... A... reminder to move forward. As for Elona..."
Her gaze drifts to the desk bending under the weight of papers and notebooks, at the centre of which lies a draft to a two-hand article regarding the no-longer-lost verse of a certain Orrian poem.
"Yes, I think we'll be heading back there soon."
The way I handle rev legends is that you can either research a ton about them and learn how to channel their mist echoes (you still need to have the innate mist magic understanding, joe average just cant read some books), or if you’re powerful enough or interesting enough they come to you through the mists. In Aoife’s case it was a bit of everything. Interesting is not always a good thing as many echoes can just devour your mind and leave you for dead or possess you for happy fun demon times. For my three revs Aoife has the most fleshed out experiences with Echoes, she has the canon ones. Kensi’s magic is more based on Ritualist magic, so her echoes are more Ritualist related with some warrior figures thrown in. Not really explored Faebrynn’s echoes yet, she’s new to the rev scene but she has a very strong connection with Ventari. But now I want to play with Kensi’s rit echoes. Hmmm.
Ventari and Jalis came to her very young and kept the Mallyx echo away from doing damage. She learned to control it over time. I have a whole blarb about that already.
Glint was …. Interesting. She first started hearing the Glint echo after leaving her lair in season 2. While she gave kind words Aoife was absolutely terrified. She had just killed one elder dragon, and there was a plan in motion to attack a second, so having a dragon in her mind was just…. Yeah. No. No thank you. She tried her best to ignore Glint, and wouldn’t focus on any dragon magic that came her way so it just sort of …. Leaked out of her. A strange aura mostly, sometimes it was tangible magic that was dripping. To onlookers it looked absolutely horrifying but it caused her no harm other than a strange tingle. It wasn’t until she saw Rytlock using this dragon magic that she thought “huh, maybe it’s not bad?” She observed him all through the jungle adventures and managed to get a little bit of information out of him about his time in the Mists, but he didn’t understand it all himself, still a work in progress. She got a handle of the magic once Aurene was around, and as she trained Aurene she got better control of her own dragon magic from Glint.
This would majorly backfire on her later in Icebrood Saga when she thought she was channeling an echo of Jormag. Hoping to understand its power and what it wanted, she let the echo creep in, thinking she was in control. It wasn’t an echo, it was actually Jormag. Woops. She almost got corrupted but Dragon’s Watch and Sebastian saved her.
Kalla and the Alliance I’ve not really explored with her yet. But I love her Glint/dragon stuff.
People with revenant characters!!! I am curious if any of your characters have custom legends in their story/lore. If you dont have custom legends i want to hear about your characters relationship to and ways of using the ones that are canon.
My own examples:
Tryphon my pirate captain charr often calls on legendary pirates from the past. Originally i had a name of one from in game but i can no longer remember who they were or what i searched to find them lol.
Also because Im mean and i like putting my mental health onto him he has one spirit that talks to him that is a leak and link from his ptsd.
The only canon one he has is Ventari due to his close ties with sylvari. This is to boost his healing abilities for his crew
Melanthios, my formerly ash legion charr, in the same warband as crucita(quints dame) who awoke blind and unsure of where he was DOES call on kalla for arrows. He knows the general location of people from sound and smell and vibrations but arrows made of the mists and from the mists take their aim through kalla.
His other legends are from charr history as well. Bathea havocbringer helping him guide his weapons, Heirophant Burntsoul much to his disgust being used for his healing magic(as he was part monk classed), and the first Ash Legion Imperator, cub of the Khan Ur to help him with stealth, honed in from the time humans took ascalon.
I also like to imagine that these characters have retained some of their old magic and both are ironically gaurdians originally but with two different ways of using that magic. Tryphon healed others while Melanthios bound others.
From the newest ask game: Past 4, Present 5 and 10, Future 2? For Kerra :3c
:3c sounds good!! (I did Present 10 over here already, but I'll give you all the other ones! :D ) PAST 4. What was the most common argument between them and whoever raised them? I'll start with her mom: Kerra definitely has Feelings (TM) that she could argue with the Pale Tree about, but seeing as (most of) those arose during LWS2/HoT after the Pale Tree was injured, she hasn't really ever had an argument with her mother about any of that. She just kinda dealt with it on her own. Most of the arguments she's had with Caithe (who probably came the closest to raising her) have been about one of them offering help and the other one not wanting it, excluding the one or two arguments they had about the...stuff...that happened during LWS2/HoT. And Trahearne didn't really raise her, but as he's her other closest family member, I'll include him too--the biggest argument they had was after HoT, specifically about her risking her life to save him. He doesn't think it was worth it and she does. In conclusion, they both need hugs and therapy. PRESENT 5. What kind of people do they usually interact with? Who are their friends, the people they look up to/trust, and who are their “associates”? People Kerra usually interacts with include various folks from the Pact (she's involved in coordination efforts and is helping Logan out a bit with things at the moment), Dragon's Watch (including Gorrik, since I don't know if he's technically a member), her (both found and blood) family (either long distance or in person, depending where they are; this category definitely overlaps with Dragon's Watch), and her students (either in the Grove or in Lion's Arch). Her best friend is (and will always be, since he stole the spot first) Rel, but the friends list is definitely very long. Again, Dragon's Watch is on there for sure. Out of all of them, she's closest to Braham and Taimi, but she loves Kas and Jory and Rox (and Frostbite, who also counts!), and despite the ups and downs she's had with Rytlock, he's on that list too. Her partners, Canach and Nisha, are also her friends and therefore they get a spot in this list too :D Everyone who qualifies as a friend is someone she trusts, and, again, this list could be pretty long, but I'll also add Minei, Cio, Shashoo, Laranthir, Amira, and Zaeim for some specific call-outs. The folks she looks up to include (but are not limited to) Caithe, Almorra, Tahlkora, Efram Greetsglory, and Eir. And people she'd call associates but not friends? Hmmm...there's probably more, but the first two that came to my mind are Smodur and Anise, during the periods that she's working with them at least. Otherwise, she's not even calling them associates. FUTURE 2. Are they content with their future situation? Is there anything they would change? She's as about as content as she can be! It's a little difficult to answer this without knowing all the details of how her future will play out (the stuff that anet will put in the expansions, for example), but even in an ideal future, she knows she won't be able to make the world completely safe for her kids and friends and family, and that's the only thing she'd change.
anyway i finished living world season 4 last night and man. i legit cried like 3 or 4 times playing through it. I have many thoughts.
Mostly that now i totally understand why people love Braham so much. I still don’t like his writing in s3, but I do think they did a good job writing him back in, and that “i love you too” bit in the epilogue had me legit tearing up again.
But honestly…. i don’t wanna play through the ice brood saga. I’m like really dreading doing it.
Putting aside my insane infatuation with Rytlock and not wanting to see him with a son and a ‘mate’ or girlfriend or whatever, I’ve also heard that Taimi just sort of. stops being in the story. That she’s not even mentioned as much? And that, alongside Zojja and Bliss never being spoken about again just feels bad. Rytlock, Logan, and Taimi are my favorite characters. But if Taimi isn’t in icebrood saga, and Logan isn’t really in it either (since he’s not a part of dragons watch, as he’s the pact marshal) and i don’t enjoy the storyline following Rytlock… like, what does icebrood saga even have to offer me?
i’m really only gonna do it for the seasons of the dragon thing, to get the legendary amulet. But i’m just thinking, is it even worth it if I don’t enjoy it along the way? If i actively hate it? The worst part is, you can’t even skip any of it. You’re forced to sit through and listen to the dialogue, no cut scenes you can skip.
Ughhh i’m just. really not looking forward to it. And honesty i’m also not really pumped for the new expansion, cuz i just don’t like the direction things go in with the characters. I don’t like the writing of 80% of the stuff since HoT.But I dunno. maybe it will surprise me, if I give it a chance.
The Sylvari Story, Oasis’s Version
I don’t like how involved Caithe is with the sylvari personal story compared to the other races’ “mentors” and how uninvolved the luminaries are. Here’s my fix. Note that a whole lot of it plays out pretty similarly, I’m just altering Caithe’s and the luminaries’ involvement a bit. Also something I talked about with my friends that could make Caithe's "the egg is my wyld hunt" less aggravating.
The Tutorial
You become aware in the Dream, you hear someone shouting “Sapling!” before your eyes focus. When they do, you see your luminary. They’re calling for you- Malomedies is leaning on a staff. They call for you, waving you close to speak with them. Something is wrong, they say. The Mother told them to wake a specific sapling- you- to help from inside. They explain that something is attacking the Dream, you fight odd creatures until you get to the Shadow of the Dragon.
Caithe is there, but she is not fighting it. She greets your luminary, the dialogue between them in the background as you fight more of the creatures. She explains that Mother senses something nearby is the source of the problems. Next to you, the Shadow moves. Your luminary and Caithe shout for you to move. Caithe becomes ‘solid’ and pushes you out of the way.
You fight the Shadow. Once defeated, Caithe and your Luminary tell you that they’ll be waiting when you wake to the outside. Serimon greets you when you wake. You ask where your luminary and Caithe are. He explains that your luminary is in a lesson and Caithe is recovering. They’ll meet with you when they’re done and she’s stronger.
The Green Knight
You’re urged back to the Grove, where you walk to Dreamer’s Terrace. Your luminary is there, they ask to speak with you. Dagdar runs up, begs you to help. the initial instance plays out practically the same, Caithe just is not there until after you fight Bercilak. She asks what was going on, who that Knight who just left was. You explain, your luminary notices the connection between the Knight and your Dream. You’re told about Gairwen, you go off to help her.
Help her, she tells you to try to find Occam. The next instance starts a little bit away from his house, Caithe is there. She’s genuinely surprised to see you, asks what you’re doing. She smiles, she knew her hunch was right. She was going to speak with Occam to ask if he’d crafted any armor recently. She says that he’s missing, and asks you to search. She’ll guard.
Courtiers attack, you get a choice. If you help one, she goes to help the other. If you go get Occam, she hands you a trap seed and tells you how to use it. “Set the trap so you can’t be followed,” she says. If you choose Gairwen, she hands you a turret seed, she has a feeling you’ll need it. She’ll meet you at Mabon Market when all is said and done.
After you fight Bercilak, she watches, wary. She’s not sure, but she trusts your ability. She suggests speaking with the Mother.
The White Stag
You receive a letter from your luminary. They explain that they’d like to meet with you, but there is something you must do first. They explain about the stag, they don’t realize you dreamed of it just yet. They tell you to track it and bring it back to the Grove. You track it, meet Gavin, he steals the stag. You resolve to yourself to speak with your luminary to ask what to do now.
They’re concerned why you enter without the stag. They ask where it is, you explain. They look genuinely upset, but tell you to wait here. They call a warden to bring Caithe. They know you’re capable, but you’re young. They want you to retrieve the stag, and bring Caithe with you to help. You and Caithe discuss, she suggests the meeting some courtiers are having, rather than blindly attacking every nightmare camp.
She tells you where one will be, she will go to another. Your luminary offers both of you luck, promising to do what they can from the Grove. You infiltrate one meeting, you find out where the Stag is- either by outwitting the information out of the Courtier or fighting them. You can choose to kill them or leave them alive- which chooses distraction or disguise.
Caithe meets you outside Hemlock Coil. She asks what your plan is to get the stag. If you killed the courtier, you disguise and get Sariel to leave. If you left them alive, they notice you, and begrudgingly cause a scene for you, only because they refuse to owe you. Once you get the stag out, she urges you to hurry to the Grove, as it is still not safe.
The instance starts the moment you enter the Grove. The stag is in the Pale Tree’s Circle, Caithe beside it. She will protect it, with a smile she tells you that your luminary will be fighting. Niamh leads wardens. Aife stands atop the “hut” that has the first vista of the Grove. Malomedies leans on his staff, but assures you that he can fight. Kahedins is at your side with a hammer.
When you fend off the Court, Mother calls you to speak with her in the Omphalos Chamber. The stag chooses on its own to stay with you, and your luminary praises you for fighting so well.
The Shield of the Moon
The first instance is just outside Caer Verdant. You witness the attack, both you and wardens run to help. Tiachren is poisoned, you don’t even notice his shield but you’re compelled to help. He’s shouting for someone to help Ysvelta, his life means nothing without her. The warden captain- Llewyr says that he will go with the valiant to help Ysvelta. He orders the other wardens to bring Tiachren to the Grove for menders.
You and Llewyr remain to fend off the last of the attack. He explains between the waves that the Court probably attacked to get at Renvari, up at the top of the tower. You posit that Renvari probably knows where they might be taking Ysvelta, and that you two need to protect and get him to the Grove as fast as you can.
On arrival to the Grove, Caithe meets with you. She’s confused, asking why you’re with a warden captain. Llewyr explains your part in helping with Renvari, and she agrees with your suggestion that he knows. She helps you trick him, then helps you, the warden, and a barely recovered Tiachren to infiltrate the Vale to try to get Ysvelta.
She has already fallen to Nightmare, when you arrive, the four of you split up to search, but Renvari’s speech keeps you from running off to find her. Tiachren is broken down in tears when you catch up with him, he’d witnessed what they’d done to her. He begs you to let him try to speak with her, she just fell, surely he can still bring her back!
Llewyr calls for you from behind. He and Caithe have been caught and are fighting. Once Renvari is defeated, you explain why Tiachren is so frantic. Llewyr pities, but insists that you join them to defend Astorea.
If you choose to help Tiachren, you two find Ysvelta as the attack is going. She accuses you of stealing him from her, she doesn’t seem to be listening to him saying he still loves her. You two fight her. As a last ditch effort, she begs Tiachren to hold her one last time. You witness just how horrible Nightmare is when she stabs him. You fight her a second time, Caithe and Llewyr run up as you kill her. Tiachren is alive, he shouts to help you during the fight. He’s just injured and heartbroken.
If you choose to defend Astorea, you see their confrontation past the courtiers. You and Caithe press through to try to help. Tiachren attacks you alongside Ysvelta. You have to kill both of them.
Caithe runs up to you. If Tiachren is alive, she helps you get him to his feet. Llewyr takes him, promising to get him to a mender. Caithe helps you calm down and takes you to the Omphalos Chamber, where your luminary is speaking with the Mother.
Level 20 and 30 quests
For the most part, these quests are the same, but the 20 quests spend more time introducing you to Trahearne. During the level 30 quest, both of them offer insight on Riannoc and Caladbolg during each step. Both urge you to choose the Priory in the second choice, for example. You can sense mourning from both of them, as if this has dug up all their pain for losing the Knight. You are also saddened, feeling it from both of them and Mother.
Level 40-80 quests are the same
Defeat of Zhaitan and Post Personal Story
Aboard the Glory of Tyria, a piece of Zhaitan shatters part of the ship. You and Caithe are still aboard, but there is a massive gap between you and the other members of Destiny’s Edge. She urges you to use the cannons to fight Zhaitan, she will protect you. As the dragon falls, Rytlock, urges you to leap across, the Dragon makes one last attempt to take you down with it. You and Caithe jump across, Rytlock and Eir catch you two.
Adrenaline is running high, the cheers are so loud you can’t hear yourself think. Caithe looks... distressed, though.
During the party in Fort Trinity, Caithe asks you and Trahearne aside. You two step into Caer Aval with her, she turns to you two. “We’ve mistaken my Wyld Hunt,” she says, “I still feel the call, bringing down Zhaitan was... Not it.”
Trahearne is confused, asking what her hunt could possibly be. You ask what it felt like for Trahearne to complete his hunt. He describes a weight being lifted, a relief flooding his being, despite his exhaustion. You explain that you felt that too, a bit. That you still feel the call, but it’s quieter.
You ask Caithe if it’s the same for her. “No,” she says, “If anything, it’s louder.”
All this time, the three of you realize, you had her Wyld Hunt wrong... It wasn’t to slay Zhaitan. But then... What is her wyld hunt? The three of you return to the rest of the Pact and the celebration continues, though Caithe is visibly still wondering about her hunt.
I think it’s time i rant why i ship the Commander with Caithe.
And not specifically MY commander, but the general commander character. (which is why i don’t care that my Commander happens to be male)
I don’t even know where to start... i guess for clarifications:
I personally don’t feel either way for Caithe. I guess i like her but she wouldn’t be on my top 10-20 favourit character list.
When i first played Guild Wars 2(yes my main character is my first ever character) i played through with the mindset that i am this charr and i will make the choices that i think will save the most lives(lel.... later on i learned it didn’t matter). So when i plowed through the personal story of the Commander i was in the mindset of “I AM A CHARR!!! AND IN THIS WORLD OF CONSTANT BATTLE I AM THE DEADLIEST WEAPON OF ALL!” (also mild Denalien influence but Denalien is intertvined with my being so... let’s not go into that)
I LOVED that Rytlock was badass and unflinching and angry i guess in simpler way: Charr = GW2′s version of orks(WoW) which means Rytlock = Thrall but actually badass.
By pure coincidence i made the choices that made me meet with mainly charr characters and it made me believe it’s because i chose charr that i meet charr. Later on i learned that... no... i just chose the paths that made me meet charr.
Queue in the story instances from 10 to 80, and past-kehideni notices a pattern. Rytlock is not the one that your character connects to the most.
I know, the letters you get are all from Rytlock when you are a charr, but the one other person Arenanet pushes your Commander to connect with is- you guessed it- Caithe.
Twilight Arbor- now you would argue Rytlock Logan and Caithe but Rytlock leaves before you start fighting any nightmare court and Logan after just a bunch of spiders. Canonically, it’s just the Commander and Caithe. Nothing actually that i’d noticed when playing through because the Commander only asks questions from Caithe that i’d want to know anyway. However this instance literally has established a connection between the two that later on gets referenced in a throwaway speechline with someone you’ll be surprised by. We’ll get to that.
Sorrow’s Embrace- Eir, Zojja and Caithe: the Commander asks Caithe for information (of course, who else. Not like they can ask Zojja at that moment, but these are all just starting off things)
Honor of the Waves- Eir and Caithe: the Commander tells Caithe to shut up and let Eir come to the right conclusion herself which makes me laugh to this day xD (This is where my personal meme comes from “Shut up, Kyle Caithe!”)
Ruined city of Arah- the Commander sasses Caithe. Basically in the story instances the Commander and Caithe work towards the same goal, to reunite Destiny’s Edge.
Things happen in the between though: There is this quest where Trahearne and the Commander enter a vision of the Pale Tree. In there, the Pale Tree tells the Commander that they MUST reunite Destiny’s Edge and this is where Twilight Arbor greets back a bit.
When you walk past the members you hear them talk to each other, blame each other.
Caithe however stands out because she isn’t talking with one of her friends, she talks to Faolain. The crazy part is that in this vision you are not supposed to AND can’t talk to any vision-npc.... that is except for Faolain herself. But let’s see what happened beforehand:
Tumblr media
Narratively speaking when a character says they are alone and tired, it’s supposed to elicit protectiveness from the viewer and/or empathy.
Tumblr media
“So here i am a bulky a** charr, why is her love life any of my buisness?” - very emotional quote from kehideni of the past
Tumblr media
Aaaaaha... sure whatever you say Trahearne, but wait.. because here comes the kicker. The ACTUAL kicker where past-kehideni went
Tumblr media
“Wait jus- hold on just a minute here...”
Tumblr media
Faolain that was awfully possessive of you, i’m a big a** charr. What competition would i be in this future-vision to you? And then the Commander says “I won’t let Caithe fall into nightmare.”
A little bit of extra:
Tumblr media
“Pft... whatever... you’re just her ex.” says the Commander. :v
In Arah Caithe thanks you for saving Destiny’s Edge (also interestingly she is the chosen companion npc as she’s the one that resses you if you get downed) and at the end of the fight she says that all of Tyria is in the Commander’s debt. Ok ... casual stuff. She’s been thanking the Commander left and right that day. As if she didn’t drive home the fact that she’s grateful she thanks the Commander once again at the end party and also is the one to suggest the Commander should go after the rest of the Elder Dragons too.
The next you meet her is the Aetherblade path in Twilight Arbor, the narrative distances Caithe from the Commander. By this time canonically they are friends, duh. So it’s like a friend has a side the Comm didn’t know so far. Nothing interesting yet, let’s hurry on.
She attends the summit, of course she does. You can’t talk with her.
In Echoes of the Past Comm saves her, their talk is still friendly but distanced. I do want to note that Canach and Caithe are so similar in attitude xD
Tangled Paths: Comm goes up to her to talk and she says “don’t mind me” and proceeds to follow you around and friendly-mocks you as “boss”. We know NOW why, but not back then. This is important because not long before this i realised that the Comm can’t possibly be me. It’s MassEffect’s case of Commander Shepard. You controll them but they are their own character and your choices have only slight weight in the story because the Commanders’ choices are already set in stone by the actual writers. What you CAN do is write the WHY parts, and this is soon the part where my writing interferes with actual canon but you’ll see my reasonings.
When the Comm talks with Caithe she’s the most civil with them among their allies. (We later learn it was to keep the Comm. in the dark.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The beauty of this scene is that Caithe WILL learn why a mother can’t keep their eyes off of their children.
Tumblr media
“Is that a problem?” “Not for me.” Still can take this line as civil but kinda funny line in hindsight. (Get it? Because it will be a problem for them.)
So Caithe’s betrayal happens, and the Comm is FURIOUS!
Tumblr media
Lol my charr is too tall, but the shot was meant to place the Comm face to face with Caithe because in the next shot she looks them in the eye and goes for the egg.
When Marjory notes that Caithe is a Sylvari the Comm goes defensive “So? What are you trying to say?” Their friend would never do that- is what narratively they want to convey, but later on in HoT the Comm reacts so harshly to her betrayal i took the wheel a bit.
I mean let’s add up what the Comm knows: Mordremoth created the sylvari, he has mental access to them, he can mind controll them, fool them if they are too strongwilled to do his bidding. Caithe is a sylvari with a strong will. If she betrayed them it’s not of her free mind. It’s like the victim-blaming when a girl gets drugged and they take her body to do as they please. Try as she might she wasn’t clear in the head but she made it clear later on that she didn’t want to betray the Comm. Why would she after all she can be thankful for to the Comm?
So what gives? Well in my mind, the only way to rectify Anet’s nonsense writing(they should really stop reading GW2 reddit forums, not a good place to be influenced with) is to give the Comm a reason to take it to heart a bit too much, say... if they were harboring feelings for her. In my mind it adds up.
So HoT happens, and Caudecus is making his move.
Where next you meet Caithe: Out of the Shadows. (fitting title for her, huh?)
I’m just gonna link the video with timestamp, that whole part is reconciling:
https://youtu.be/AABguDwhieE?t=2612
At this point the writing of GW2 seems to take a chillpill so i go with the flow. The Comm realising that he overreacted inspects himself: Why? This is the part the Comm realises that “oh sheet, they got them feels.”
Aurene hatches, Caithe is there.
The first time the Comm is voiced in LW and he jokes around with a character it’s with Caithe.
Comm: “I’d feel better if someone i knew was watching the chamber.”
Caithe fishing for the one line that would reassure her that the Comm talking with her actually means that they are ok with her now: “Someone you trust?”
Comm: “Yeah, so... could you ask Taimi to get her right away?”
Caithe relieved her relationship with Comm is safe: “You’re joking with me, i take that as a good sign.” They talk around a bit more, they are healing and that’s adorable.
Later on she thanks the Comm for letting her prove herself to them by looking out for Aurene.
Path of Fire happens, she’s like throwaway-ly mentioned by Taimi.
I was all, “Well, goodbye Caithe you got Zojja’d, it was a good headcannon while it lasted” but THENNNNNNN ARENANET THROWS ME THIS
Tumblr media
Like... are you fkin’ kidding me. This line alone means that she’s been stalking the Commander IN STEALTH ATLEAST since they met Zafirah in Sun’s Refuge!!! THE BARE MINIMUM SHE SAW FROM STEALTH WAS THE COMM GOING IN ON A SUICIDE MISSION, HOW ABOUT SOME HELP YOU CONNIVING VEGETAB- sorry... my personal annoyance at her came out.
Back to story, after this All or Nothing happens where the Comm and Caithe are confirmed parents of Aurene. When Aurene branded Caithe only the Comm asked if she was still herself, not even Rytlock nor Logan, the actual two people who know her longest. The Comm and Caithe are constantly paralleled next to Aurene as her “champions” because dragons apparently don’t have parental bonds*sarcasm* :V
Requiem happens and Rytlock himself says he sees it now. Coincidentally as of writing this he is going through the very same trauma Caithe and Comm went through when Aurene died.
Caithe calls for Comm to return to her because she needs them, and the Comm tells everyone they should go and spend whatever time they have with people they love. Implying that Aurene is who Comm loves but then again Caithe is there too. The 3 of them were going to spend the last of their lives with each other. (not saying they don’t love the rest of the group, but had they decided to leave, the 3 would still stay together.)
As from War Eternal to till now their co-parental connection is getting stronger.
Thoughts on Kralkatorrik
Fair warning. Gonna be dealing with lots of spoilers from Season 4. These are just my musings and thoughts, so feel free to reject them. Most of this is coming from mulling a lot of stuff over and over in my head to make sense.
I’ve been thinking a lot about Kralkatorrik lately, and I’m starting to wonder if he’s possibly one of the most utterly tragic entities we’ve ever encountered in Guild Wars 2. The Elder Dragon of Rage and Crystal...being the most tragic, pitiable, and sad beings I’ve ever seen. I was thinking about how Glint mentioned that at some point in the past, Kralkatorrik had approached her, driven by a vision he wanted her to confirm or deny. It was the vision of a world without Elder Dragons, without him. She claimed that the concept terrified him and drove him into a rage, and whatnot. But I’m wondering about that, simply because of what we know from War Eternal, from his final confessions to the Commander and Aurene. About not fearing death, not fearing anything. So why did Glint say that he WAS afraid? It made me wonder.... when did he have that vision? Was it shortly before he spoke to Glint about it? Or was it further back in history, in the forgotten, unwritten ages? Which made me think further; Glint had the gift of prophecy. To look through the skeins of fate and see particular outcomes and work towards them. But she couldn’t see past a certain point, because that point did not include her in it. In fact, from the memory crystals we find in Path of Fire... when she met Destiny’s Edge, she was surprised: “These heroes are...not what I expected. Do they have the courage to endure what's coming? The will to drive it back? “ I think that’s because the group she DID expect was Dragon Watch...from further down the timestream. She knew it was a group of mortals coming, with a sylvari, a charr, a human, and an asura...among others perhaps...but the group before her didn’t look quite right. She misinterpreted her own vision, and as a result, Destiny’s Edge tried to fight Kralkatorrik too early. Glint and Snaff died as a result. But... Kralkatorrik, for all his size and power, could have easily smeared or branded Destiny’s Edge. He didn’t though. Rytlock talks about having been close enough to ‘blow kisses’ to Kralk, but Kralk didn’t end up killing them in the end. Because that wasn’t part of the grander Vision. Back to the point, we know Aurene has prophetic visions, and looked through multiple outcomes to try to find one where she and her allies didn’t die against Kralk. And failed. Because that was a historical point that HAD to be met and bypassed by something not shown. Which made me wonder... if Aurene is prophetic to a degree, and Glint moreso, to the point of seeing decades, centuries down the road with some degree of accuracy (not perfect but pretty good)... did that mean Kralkatorrik could as well? Could he, by extension, see extremely FAR down the road, but perhaps not have the refinement to see any other paths? I suddenly had this idea that Kralkatorrik, in the far ancient past before he became the Moving Mountain Range of a Dragon, possibly when he first evolved up to a more powerful state, had had the greatest, deepest, and longest Vision. One that he saw all the way to the end of his own life, so many millennia down the road. And that it didn’t terrify him. It didn’t anger him. It just was. It was unavoidable (because he didn’t know HOW to avoid it, without wrecking the balance of the world himself, which he would have been very aware of), but it was tremendously far off. He could do almost anything and easily avoid it... but yet he didn’t. He took on the role that had been set for him. Perhaps he’d been granted a vision of where someone referred to him as the Elder Dragon of Rage and Crystal. Seen his own, enraged actions in later millennia. So he put that on as his image, projecting a false rage, but one honest enough to convince generations of mortals. Maybe even mixed in a bit of actual rage, because who likes being shackled to a fate they can’t alter? To be denied choice? With his Brand, over the passing of years, he could have easily reworked all of Tyria every time he awoke. But we see little if any of his influence other than in the Brand itself. And the Brand is a pretty permanent mark on the landscape. Pretty sure something like that doesn’t fade in a century or two. There should be entire swathes of landscape still bearing Brandmarks from the previous Risings, but there doesn’t seem to be. What if, just maybe... he was following a long list of events he had to make sure happened, to ensure that particular future came to pass. The one with Aurene, the Commander, the Pact, and Dragonfall itself? Every other Elder Dragon (barring Jormag, who claims to want only to be left alone, just ignore the ice minions) when they awoke tried to expand their territory as far as possible, and conquer and devour all in their path. But when Kralkatorrik awoke, he only burned a path straight south, and parked himself near the Tomb of the Primeval Kings. For YEARS. He drove south, and then sat somewhere. The only time he left that spot was to ‘confront’ Destiny’s Edge. As the Long Vision said he must, because he HAD to. He had to let Glint be un-linked to him for years, only to be forced to re-take her and her ending up dead because of it and the resulting battle. He had to watch as essentially his daughter died, knowing he could have left her alone and alive. But having to do it because if she lived, the Vision would go off-path, and the end result would be less-than-acceptable. So Glint dies, Snaff dies, and Kralkatorrik nurses a long, painful hurt that he knew was coming for ages. Imagine knowing that someone you cared about would turn on you, and you had to kill them. Imagine knowing, even worse, that that was the GOOD outcome. The one that HAD to happen. Mortals knew of him as the Crystal and Rage Dragon, because that was the image he had to plant in their minds. They HAD to hate him. They HAD to fear him. Fate needed them all bound together in a force strong enough to take him down, and he was the needle that sewed it all together through dozens of smaller, unseen movements over the years. Towards the end, after he’d absorbed all those toxic magics that he had no hope of containing, no hope of filtering and releasing in the ways that Aurene had been taught, because no one had ever taught HIM how to do it in ages past... He’d been almost insane with pain. But even then, he was still trying to follow the script. He knew he had to do...things... even if he wasn’t truly sure what they were. After such a long life, there must have been moments of ‘is this the part where I....’ by the dozens, but he probably knew his time was up, and knew he HAD to resist hard enough for everyone to be fully convinced of it. He had to fight back against us, because the script demanded he do it. So that there would be enough anger that we (the Commander, Aurene, the Pact) would not hesitate, not pull any punches, show no mercy.... Because it was the right thing to do. Kralkatorrik knew ages before that he was going to die, where, and how. Maybe not When, but one only needed to look to the events that would unfold to pick the proper time. He knew he would be hurt every stage of the path. From the loss of Glint, and possibly Vlast (the grandson he’d never properly met), to having to Brand Aurene to set her on her proper path. From Branding Ascalon and countless living beings to make the Charr, and by proxy Tyria hate him enough to fight him hard enough to make the Future possible. To facing down Balthazar when he frankly didn’t need to, even knowing Aurene was in that Warbeast, and being injured by it. Even chasing Aurene through the Mists, and into Thunderhead Keep, and then retreating back into the Mists to recupe some strength...that was only so there’d be time for Aurene to recover and gain her true abilities. He could have easily levelled the mountain, and instead he left...because Fate demanded he do so. There was no anger in him at the end. Only love for Aurene, regret for Glint, and possibly even those he’d Branded (I’m interpretting it that way because it’s very possible he did like Mortals, but because of his role in Fate, he HAD to kill and Brand them, and that hurt.), relieved resignation that he was at the end, and gratitude. In a way, all the horror, all the pain he caused... all the destruction, as oddly limited as it was compared to other Elder Dragons... was all FOR Tyria and the world. He played the role of mindless villain, because it was his destiny, and he could not shirk it. Could not see another way out that was beneficial to the world. So he took up that dark mantle, and wore it, and never let anyone else know, not even his own kin. Right till the end. Even Jormag never caught on. That’s how well he played the role. It’s impressive...and haunting. To knowingly do horrible things even though you don’t want to, but because it’s absolutely, 100% necessary. And to know it’s going to cost you Everything, right down to your own life... but everything will come out better for it afterward. I’m not even sure I’ve explained the scope of this thought properly. But it digs at the back of my mind now when I play through PoF, and Season 4. I can’t un-think these thoughts, not after hearing him at the end of Dragonfall. Hearing that he KNEW, and had always known, and was unafraid of it.
Favorite living World Season?
I like the events of Season 3, but I think Season 4 is my favourite. It had more of the characters I like.
Favorite Expansion?
Heart of Thorns. The story is just more impactful for me. I love Sylvari and it just opened a boatload of possibilities. PoF was a little bland tbh and Balthazar was lame as hell. Though I love the mounts, gw2 has ruined mounts for me with how good they feel when you’re handling them.
Favorite Soundtrack?
I love this game’s music, I think I kinda like HoT’s map music more? Dragon’s Stand in particular. But Fear Not This Night is still top of my list.
First profession you played?
I started with Elementalist.
First race you played?
Human, and then a LOT of Sylvari. My left over slots are gonna be at least one of the other three races haha
Favortie Destiny’s Edge Character?
At first it was Caithe, but then she did things and I absolutely despise her now. So Rytlock, even if he’s fucked up a bunch, he at least definitely shows remorse and you can see him doing his best to be better and as he says, to make things right.
Favorite Dragon’s Watch character?
I love Canach’s snark, but I have to say my fave is Taimi, and by extension Gorrik as well.
Favorite Elder Dragon?
Mordremoth. but visually, the concept art for Zhaitan is incredible. It’s sad they didn’t have the technology they have now to do Zhaitan’s last stand.
Best Boss Fight (story)?
I can’t remember much but I feel I enjoyed fighting Kralkatorrik the most.
Best boss fight (fractal)
Never tried
Best boss fight (raid)
Never tried
PvE or Pvp or RP
30 questions: GW2 edition
not tagged by anyone (yet) but @pr-gw2 said to just do it if you like and I’d very much like to ^^
This can be done in many different ways: get asks by your followers, pick some questions for yourself, answer the whole damn thing at once, etc!
You can draw, write (to explain in details or not) or just post screenshots! If you miss one it’s totally okay, whether it’s by lack of answer or time. Have fun!
1. Favorite living world season?
Season 3, though it also includes some of my least favourite maps (looking at you lake doric) had a very fun story. Well apart from what they did with the actual lazarus.
2. Favorite expansion?
Definitely HoT. Love the maps, love the story, love the elites. I’ve spent a significant part of my life in the heart of maguuma.
3. Favorite soundtrack?
“Attack on Tarir” and “Tarir, the Forgotten City” and the rest of the HoT soundtrack in general. The instrumental version of fear not this night that plays when you fight at the artesian waters in orr. The vanilla character select music, as well as the HoT one. Some of the PoF combat music. Look I really can’t decide on a favourite the games soundtrack is just awesome.
4. First profession you played?
Ranger, its Frigg
5. First race you played?
Asura, its Frigg
6. Favorite Destiny’s Edge character?
Zojja
7. Favorite Dragon’s Watch character?
Rytlock. He’s an idiot, and not actually the character I like the most, but I think he’s a great character. I also want to say that Faren should be an honorary member of DW
8. Favorite Elder Dragon?
Zhaithan. His design is just *chef kiss*
9. Best boss fight (story)?
Joko, obviously, loved to hate him
10. Best boss fight (fractal)?
Its been ages since I last did a fractal. Uhhhh the molten Berserker and Firestorm is awesome
11. Best boss fight (raid)?
Only one I ever fought was Vale Guardian. From what I saw in videos Samarog really cought my eye.
12. PvE or PvP or RP?
Never actively played PvP, I really don’t enjoy it. PvE only casually, no fractals or raids or anything. I’ve been playing RP in a guild for five years now, and its definitely the thing I spent most time on. (though now that the guild is disbanded I don’t play actively anymore)
13. Favorite canon couple?
Caithe and Faolain. Its interesting to me. Its an absolutely horrible relationship, but its interesting.
15. Favorite quote?
“Commander, a word” just sends a jolt of happyness through me everytime I hear it.
“We'll have no more words, Tyrian. Only death.” from Balthasar was nice as well.
A lot of Joko’s dialogue is obviously up there
16. Most emotional cinematic?
Seeing Zhaithan fall down into the ruins of Arah. Such a sweet victory.
17. Favorite VA?
Zojja’s VA, Phlunt also. Basically any asura. (Though I have to note that I’ve only semi recently changed the voice to english. The german dub is really good, and I actually enjoy the asura voices in german more)
18. Post a fun screenshot!
Tumblr media
They certainly won’t recognize you Eir!
19. Post a landscape screenshot!
A landscape screenshot? My folder has about 800 of those! (250 of those are just screens of Asura Buildings. Don’t worry, it was just a phase)
Tumblr media
But this one is one of my best!
20. Most used mount(s)?
Jackal most likely. I have all but the Warclaw, but rarely use them outside of PoF and later areas.
21. Favorite mount skin (for every mount you have)?
I don’t have any mount skins except for the ones I got today from the supply drop thing I impulse bought despite the fact that I rarely play currently. I also don’t really look at the skins so I can’t say that I have favorites.
From the two licenses today I got the primordial raptor and the exo suit roller beetle
22. Favorite weapon?
This is a hard one. I’d say Cobalt, for the simple reason that it was the first exotic I dropped and used for a long while. I still have the original cobalt in Frigg’s inventory.
23. Favorite gear set?
I really like the carapace armors. all three of them
24. Favorite title?
Honorary Skritt and Storyteller of Orr
25. Something you worked really hard to get?
I have the first stage of the Claw of Khan Ur legy, and that first step alone was enough work to put me off building legendarys alltogether. I love the collections they did for the gen 1s and some of the later collections of those sound fun as heck, but the amount of mats involved means I’ll never do them.
27. Most used miniature?
Mini Snow Owl because that way I can have both of Frigg’s pets out at once. (I also have the mini whiptail devourer so I can switch around, though I usually run with knibbles as the actual pet)
28. Most used novelty?
Embiggening Tonic to make my Norn as big as they actually are.
29. Number of achievments points?
11.873
30. Something you’d love to see in GW2?
Honestly I’m just looking forward to the coming expansion maps where they don’t expect you to have mounts anymore. I know the vistas are intended that you jump up there with the springer, but it still feels like cheating.
Kinda messy but here’s the commander relationships meme done with my AU commander Vesuvia and her sisters! I would’ve done my main commander Adayra & her co-commander or my EU commander Manawydan & his co-commander but honestly none of them really interact with any of the canon characters oops. That’s actually why I ended up making an AU commander cuz I wanted a character that interacts with the canon characters and follows the canon storyline fairly strictly.
I’ve never actually posted about Vesuvia and her sisters so here’s some quick basic intros for them!
Vesuvia: Pact commander. Vigil. Blood legion but born in Flame legion. Warrior. Middle child. Brash, fierce, strong beliefs, will do whatever it takes to defeat her enemies, really good at motivational speeches that get people ready for battle, insecure, tends to distance herself from people, feels emotions very strongly
Etna: Co-commander. Order of Whispers. Ash legion but born in Flame legion. Ranger. Eldest child. Blind from burn scars on her face from her father. Quiet, prefers to work from behind the scenes, intelligent, excellent battle strategist, hates being babied because of her blindness, can hold grudges for a long time, tends to bottle up her emotions
Amiata: Pact & Dragon’s Watch member. Priory. Iron legion. Elementalist. Youngest child. Only related to Vesuvia and Etna via their mother. Friendly, curiosity driven, dislikes conflict, quick to forgive, deeply loves her family and friends, great at motivational speeches that keep people together in hard times, low self-esteem
Template for this meme can be found here and was made by @duskroots !
Made a couple relationship explanations under the cut. Includes spoilers for the GW2 storyline
Explanation for Vesuvia’s relationship with Rox: I added “complicated” to theirs because of Rox joining the Olmakhan, which Veusvia saw as her abandoning Dragon’s Watch and her in favor of the Olmakhan. Rox saying “I finally found a home. A family. Not that Dragon's Watch wasn't like a family, but...” hurt her pretty bad since she felt that was Rox saying she and Dragon’s Watch weren’t enough. Vesuvia still loves Rox, but is currently angry with her.
Explanation for Vesuvia’s relationship with Caithe: Most of it is pretty self-explanatory if you’ve played through HoT. The end part where respect turns to dislike takes place after Aurene hatched. When Caithe explained herself, Vesuvia started to respect her again... Until Caithe became Branded by Aurene, that is. Since then, Vesuvia has grown to dislike her again out of jealousy due to her own insecurity and the fact she feels Caithe is intruding on her relationship with Aurene. Vesuvia also dislikes the Order of The Crystal Bloom(she appreciates that they want to help Aurene, but she’s afraid of them forcing Aurene onto a pedestal for them to worship like she believes the Zephyrites do with Glint) and since Caithe is the leader of that order, it certainly doesn’t make their relationship any better.
Explanation for Veusvia’s relationship with Logan: Originally she had only ever heard of Logan from Rytlock, so you can imagine he didn’t exactly paint him in a good light. Vesuvia hated Logan for abandoning Destiny’s Edge and his treatment of Rytlock. It wasn’t until Logan and Rytlock began to make amends that Vesuvia’s hate died down and she began to respect him.
Explanation for Vesuvia’s relationship with Zojja: Vesuvia found her annoying and bratty at first. As Vesuvia got closer to Eir, these feelings of resentment got stronger as Zojja continued to treat Eir badly. When Zojja and Eir began to finally make amends, Vesuvia began to respect Zojja but admittedly still isn’t that fond of her.
Explanation for Vesuvia and Etna’s relationship with Aurene: Due to Aurene being the scion of a dragon, neither of the two charr were particularly excited about her hatching. They felt Aurene would end up like all the other Elder Dragons, but as time went on and they got to know her, they realized she was different and they came to love her like family. Vesuvia views Aurene as her daughter while Etna views her as her niece.
Explanation for Etna’s relationship with Braham: After HoT, Etna began to strongly hate him for the way he was treating her sister Vesuvia. They definitely got into a few physical scuffles over his harsh behavior. When Braham started to make amends with Vesuvia, Etna’s hate for him began to die down since she felt he is starting to make up for what he’s done. They have yet to become friends again, though, since Etna is still a little bitter.
Explanation for Etna’s relationship with Caithe: Caithe and Etna were fairly close before HoT but afterwards their relationship has become a bit rocky. Etna didn’t like the way Caithe had acted when she stole the egg and though she understands why she did it, she still thinks she could have handled it much better. They have since made up and are friends again, but Etna is still a little wary of her and is hesitant to open up to her again.
Explanation for Amiata’s various dislike moments: Because Amiata is not a fan of conflict, she found Zojja, Logan, Rytlock, and Braham’s bitterness all very annoying and did not enjoy being around them because of it.
Well, you're a step ahead of me, I made an Old Soldier but then I lost him before I could even enter the crypt so there's that. I at LEAST know of Uncle Iroh (it's in my watch pile). The Warband would be a mix of ages too, form the oldest being OS and their sparing partner (who grew up along side OS, who has suffered and survived the same trials OS has all up until they step between OS and Kralk) then there's a few who are around Rytlocks age and from different Legions 1/ -Numbered Anon
Then there's the new bloods, a couple of Charr they just picked up from the Black Citadel before the alarm sounded for the attack on Smokestead. The Warband has gone through a number of members. Members who have died in battle. Members who fell to illness. Members who betrayed and turned to Flame. Members who had enough and retried from the front line. It's a 'band name well known across the Legions. A 'band name the newest Cubs either dream about joining or mutter the name in fear 2/ -Numbered
In front of the Crypt, OS looks between the entrance and the waves of ghosts that may as well be cockroaches because they know Rytlock is down there, but they also have a duty to stop the ghosts here. And that's when OS's Sparing partner gives them a shove, a smile on their lips as the rest start digging at OS's relationship with Rytlock and the newbies hold an air of confusion and OS heads off down into the Crypt with a sarcastic remark thrown over their shoulder. 3/ -Numbered Anon
Side ideas, OS has a catchphrase of "Look alive Cubs!" as they enter battle. Charr of all ages try to guess what age OS is, no ones been brave enough to simply ask OS. Tybalt is the cub of one of the past warband members. OS needs glasses to read but refuses 'cause "I'm not THAT old." OS keeps the dogtags of all dead warband members. OS brings their Cubs first teddy bear with them everywhere. 4/ (I have more to talk about, but I need to do a few things - Numbered Anon
(and back) When OS picks an Order, their Sparing partner joins them, effectively leaving the Warband to the younger generation. One of Rox's dead band mate is a Cub of a Warband Member. Rytlock refuses to tell OS what happened to DE -mainly that Logan, someone Rytlock gave his Blood Legion Emblem to, effectively making them brothers, abandoned them- OS would've jumped into the Mist after Rytlock if not for Sparring partner and Smodur jumping them. 5/ -Numbered Anon
I ADORE the idea that OS looks at fighting the Dragons as their last fight, only OS and their Sparring Partner think this, to Rytlock and everyone else this thought doesn't cross their minds -or if it does, it pushed way to the back of the line. ...Oh...Balthazar...that'll be a mess and a half. Rytlock is running through the stages of grief before he gets off of the air ship, he snarls orders at OS /to get up! You're not done here!/ all while ignoring the tears that sting his eyes 6/ -Numbered
I wonder how much OS would interact with Ryland and what impact would they have on Ryland, I mean, OS can't say anything against how Rytlock interacts (or lack there of) with Ryland because that's just how Charr /work/ but OS feels the hole in their being where their Cub and mate once were. And then there's Bangar. OS coaching Trahearne through being a leader and a Soldier, if they use a GS they teach Trahearne how to use one cause burn me you're going to take my tail off! 7/ -Numbered anon
as for the olmakhohan, and maybe this is because they confuse me, but I think OS would find them odd, not in the fact they hate violence or that they use magic but in the way they've somehow removed the idea that Charr are beings of War (and I think there might have been mentions of them not understand that there are Charr outside of their tribe or something, not sure on that) in a mere 200 years. 8/8 -Numbered Anon
JDHIGHBIFHD ah the ol’ ‘I no longer vibe with you  BEGONE’ mid tutorial xDDD
and yes! I keep trying to mentally think what Legion they could be from and honestly any could work! They just pick up and move between legions practically all the time - maybe they stick to the black Citadel because they’re an old friend of Smodur - they fight the frontlines there, but every warband has stories of their warbands heroics - doing the impossible, breaking the front lines. They live for the thrill of the vanguard, even if they’re Ash or Iron. Cubs playing make-believe all argue over which Legion they’re in. Truthfully even they’ve forgotten at this point.
If pressed they laugh and say “anything but Flame”, but still respectfully ask how the Flame Legion are doing at Bangar’s meeting, and welcome any to their band who want to join (bonus if they’re a female or nonbinary Old Soldier)
and HOOHOHO I DIDN’T EVEN THINK ABOUT BALTHAZAR - they’re ready, they’ve accepted death, but then they remember Aurene, the cub they never got to see grow, and the fury drives them back into the fray - the Judge can collected them later, this needs to be done. They come to, to Rytlock crying over their body, head bowed, and muttering a wobbly mantra for the dead. They swear they hear Canach laugh when they place their hand on Rytlock’s face and he jolts in shock as they joke they’re “not that old cub”, despite the blood and stiffness to them now
and the dogstags and teddy bear got me good ngl - they’re their most prized possessions, and ones they show Aurene, or Cre when she’s feeling upset about Ryland - reminds them of what hey fight for, what they fight to leave a better world for.
Their fury when Taimi is taken? Incomprehensible. Dragon’s Watch is apart of their band as much as any of it’s members, they’re family. You don’t mess with the Commander’s family.
OOOOH what if that’s why Bangar kept Rytlock away as much as he did (not saying Ryltock wasn’t at least partially responsible for not going to see Ryland but what if the majority of his attempts are blocked by Bangar), because Bangar knows at least a bit of OS has rubbed onto Rytlock, and he’ll try to pass that down onto Ryland. Bangar can’t wait another generation (how fukkin old can charr get anyway??)
edit: forgot the feckin olmakhan!
Yeha I think it could go either way, like they adore their concepts of family and living for their tribe but also themselves (they like to imagine having a ranch like that with their mate and cub), but also, where’s the warbands?? What do you mean they don’t have them?? Can I retire here?? Can my warband come??
