Headcanon Potpurri, Red Matador: THE JOCKS + Fermin

A.k.a most normal Monster Energy consumers 🙄

I just realized, but by posting this, both of the main "HC series" on this blog so far (This one and Gareth's story) are just one post away to be finished. Pretty perfect coincidence, given WWC Spain vs England is tomorrow. Maybe the result will determine whose series ends first 👀

Anyways... I'll confess right away and say that these 4 consumed my brain the most out of the team; so they get the most HCs from me. Get ready. This will be fun.

First off, JOCK JUMPSCARE 😱

Ok, now onto the actual headcanons:

Querardo is from Navarre (Around Tudela), and so does Samuel (His dub profile confirms he's from Pamplona/Iruña). They actually met thanks to their respective fathers, both with a close bond. In fact, Samu's father was the assistant (named "mozo de espadas" in the bullfighting world) of Querardo's father for a while, at least until they parted ways and found their respective wives. Pretty much every July, in time for the San Fermín festival, the Naval and the Mayo reunite and celebrate together.

They might not share schools, but Querardo and Samuel have a very close friendship and they enjoy every meeting as best they can. They also played together for the Spanish Community Cup, in which they were the key players that led Navarre to the trophy.

Like mentioned before, Querardo's father is a famous matador from Seville, but his mother is just another worker at the farm her family owns. Having a cozy home inbetween the wilderness, she at least had a place to raise her son at. And yes, Querardo was pretty much raised alongside mother nature :')

Samuel's parents have pretty normal lives, and I guess their son too. However, upon some years ago, his father had an almost fatal injury that left him incapacitated, only being able to move in a wheelchair. Said injury's origin is attributed to a running of the bulls, a simple incident. Or so it seems.

Meanwhile, as for Davi... His fathers are huge fans of soccer like him, but messier. His father is a Barcelona Orb fan, his mother a Gran Madrid fan. They act surprisingly peaceful when a VS happens, BUT their discussions get heated whenever they talk about what team will their son join in the future. They are perhaps TOO supportive for his own good.

...Truth is, Davi just wants to keep his options open, man. Hell, he isn't even of a particular team. He likes all teams, and all he wants is to support local talent no matter the colors. As long as it is from ESPAÑITAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

...Yeah, Davi is very passionate about spanish soccer as a whole. VERY. And inspired by his japanese profile, he is very openly competitive with the other countries. I don't think he's either a good winner or loser unfortunately

He's from Madrid, so his bond isn't as deep as Samuel + Querardo's at first glance. However even before the FFI started, Davi bonded well with the field forward and so with the captain, to the point he was quickly integrated into the group when Redomata was formed.

Alternatively it would be cute if he met them from before BUUUUUT. Not sure yet.

However like on previous potpurri, him belonging there doesn't stop him with intereacting with others; in fact he's quite more sociable than the other SS Trio members (That's saying a lot).

Davi gets the best with the midfielders, mainly because of Joan and his easy-going atitude. Pedro and Igor are quite stupid at times but the forward doesn't like being rude with them, given they remind him of his little sister. And Mikel, uh...

Yeah, it's time to talk about something I owed here. Unfortunately as the FFI progresses, Davi starts to notice that despite being a main field player, unfortunately his skill level wasn't the best, or at least nor the required one for the exigences of RM's rivals. With each match, Davi started to be more and more exigent with himself, wishing to be at other's levels. But the fact that barely anything came from this left him pretty resentful. And for a while, that resentment manifested in envy on those who were better than him. Mikel being one of those, unfortunately. So, he became pretty competitive with his teammates as well, but to such an extent it was getting quite frustrating for them too. And yes, this also added to the SS rivarly with Los Bellos. Oops.

...At least Brockenborg was the perfect slap in the face for him, making him accept his imperfections and seek a better future instead.

Being fair the whole trio went throught the most during the whole tournament, and with a reason (?)

And now, about the final member... Fermín is Querardo's cousin, the keeper's father being the younger brother of Victória Gartzia. When their child was born, he insisted to do all the required paperwork to make Fer carry his mother's surname first. And with a reason, she's literally a worldwide karate star.

Unfortunately, the relationship between cousins isn't the best, since since childhood Querardo would always pick on Fer by his huge appearance, and things got slightly worse by him choosing to style himself after a bull. Yeah, the matador jokes are endless when these two are together.

Fer has tried all he could to ignore that, but there's some truth hidden to it: Unlike a huge chunk of his family, he's actually VERY uncomfortable with bullfighting. But he feels often nervous of speaking out in front of his fanatic father, his equally as passionate uncle, AND his matador-on-training cousin. Yes, he is taller and even looks as old as any of the adults, but at the end of the day Fermín is still a 15 year old teen. And a pretty misunderstood one.

This is why when the FFI happened, Fer's spot on Querardo's circle was replaced by Davi soon enough. With him joining on the middle of the FFI he's often pursued by this group, but he'd rather keep his distance for now. Then again, out of the three he only has a good relationship with Samuel. They respect -and understand- each other.

Fer is still unsure how to feel about his other teammates, but he's glad the defenders seem to care about him. Rafael in particular wants him to join in their group the same way he does with Juan. Plus... They are technically the only RM players who do interact outside of a hissatsu, y'know...

His most peculiar relationship is with... Laudelino however, since for some reason he calls him his "Sancho Panza" and wants to bring him to his adventures. Fer does NOT share his way of thinking at all, so its messy.

Overall, maybe Liocott is the perfect spot for both cousins to talk out things better... Maybe. If they don't try to kill each other during the tournament, first of all (?

Okay I'm doing a Fionna and Cake ep 2 ramble, because there is so much Finn slander rn and after binging all of Adventure Time I'm losing my marbles over this.

So heavy spoilers below

This is probs gonna be a mess and idc if nobody reads this, I just want to chuck my feelings into the void of the internet.

First and foremost I genuinely DO NOT believe Finn is using Jake's kids to replace Jake. Finn has always been very extroverted and has been shown to have separation and abandonment issues (remember how fast he freaked when fern ditched him or how weird finn sword started acting after grass sword shattered it, and just Martin). It makes sense for his character that'd he'd continue adventuring with other friends and family after Jake. We also have to remember PB and Marcie are out being together, so while I'm sure they still hang out its not as much as it used to be. I genuinely see him turning to his remaining family to see if they want to tag along. Like I could 100% be wrong, but I feel if he was using Jake's kids he would've pushed more to get TV to follow them, but instead he just asked once and then just accepted/respected TV's decision to dip.

Okay now Simon and Finn are both grieving, and neither of them are dealing with it well. Finn has clearly emotionally regressed a bit and is struggling with the loss of Jake. There were numerous times where Jake showed to be really cool with death and Finn not at all be cool with Jake dying. I wouldn't be surpirised if they never really made any progress with that problem, again pretty sure Finn has abandonment issues, so its very easy to see Jake's passing setting him back years in emotional growth. But people have been saying things like "Finn's being ignorant to Simons feelings" "He's in complete denial" "He needs to learn to be a better friend" "He's lost all of the character growth he had in the show" and I cannot deal with this. These comments are the reason I'm making this because shenanigans.

A quick play by play of the very important interaction that people seem to gloss over.

Finn meets up with Simon starting to lose his shit in the bar over Fionna and Cake. He immediately tries to calm him down and Simon freaks out a little more. Finn acknowledges this isn't about the stories and gently asks him whats wrong. Simon proceeds to tell him while clearly having a breakdown, Finn tries to calm him down and even tells him he's sorry. Presumably a "I'm sorry your feeling this way." Simon then admits some really heavy stuff and at this point Finn realizes hes way out of his comfort zone and asks if he's talked to Marcie, i.e. the person that would be able to provide more/better support. Simon brushes that off, Finn basically hits him with a "there's so much more to live for" and Simon says some even darker things, Finn looks around for help, and at this point decides to play the distraction card.

Thats still our boy! Hes damaged but not completely emotionally unaware. He also knew his limits, he looked for help when things got dark and then began to try some stuff that helped him. Like honestly if a friend was saying some of the things Simon was to me and I had no backup I'd also play the distraction card. Were they good distractions? No, not for Simon. But he was genuinely trying. He's not happy but he's staying cheery to try and get Simon in a better place. He also isn't intentionally forcing Simon to go with him, and takes him home as soon as he expresses that he's done.

Its a mess, they're a mess and are absolutley not the ones to help each other. The blindfolds in the forest or "the blind leading the blind" is the perfect expression for what this trainwreck is. They both need outside help and I think thats what we're going to see in this show. This was the first two episodes that set the stage. I imagine there will be a "Finn Mertens" episode, so like lets chill out and cut our boy some slack, at least until we see the whole story, he genuinely tried. Honestly, having just rewatched the whole show, I have a fair bit of faith in the writing team, I highly doubt they'd butcher Finn's character like that.

Anyway I'm loving this show so far, just bugged by some of the hot takes to come out of it. This is all my opinions, so I guess my hot takes? But I just wanted to stand up for the boy.

Also also, people better not be blaming Marcie for being neglectful. Shes barely been seen yet, and currently has no idea whats happening. Give it a bit.

I'm also under the impression Finn's got a separate arm for adventuring, soley because getting another major injury off camera is just kinda out of charcter for the show. But Idk maybe they're just trying something new.

Dad-chi™

Comes prepared with all the food, drinks, snacks, med kit, camera – literally everything you could possibly need on a road trip

Plans out the route beforehand down to the tiniest detail nothing gets past this man

As well as multiple backup routes in case there's diversions etc.

Plans for regular breaks at two-hour intervals where everyone can pee, stretch their legs, buy anything they need, etc.

He's the one who's driving he's not letting anybody else get a scratch on his van, lmao

And he's good at it

No speeding he's a cop, y'all but he doesn't dawdle either, no running red lights, turns corners well, keeps an even foot on the gas, etc.

Just a good time, tbh

Nobody is getting car sick because of him that would be a damn disgrace

"Stop fighting right now, or I'm turning this van around"

And will actually do it if you don't stfu, lmfao

Don't even think about making a mess and dropping your rubbish in the van you'll be walking home

Everyone else thinks his music is boring and for old people, but Daichi honestly doesn't care

Besides, it's either that or no music at all, because he needs to concentrate on the road

He takes this shit seriously. People's lives are in his hands, dammit!

☆ Testurou Kuroo ☆

Likes to switch between driving and riding shotgun/being designated navigator

Is fairly decent at both

Is constantly eating something but, like, he probably doesn't even know what it is

Some kind of edible is shoved towards his mouth by whoever's riding shotgun, and in it goes shut up. Not like that, you cretins 😂

Somehow manages to behave like an overbearing grandparent and an overexcited child at the same time?? Nothing new there, I guess 😂

I'm sorry, Kuroo, I love you. Please don't be mad 😭

Has a banging playlist full of throwback songs from the 90s and early 2000s

Drums along sofly on the steering wheel or dashboard constantly

HATES driving in rain he's low-key terrified he's going to aquaplane

Likes driving with the windows wound down and feeling the wind in his hair

Will plan the route, but then forget to save it/print it off, etc.

Cannot work Google Maps or SAT-NAVs to save his life Kenma, please help him

Actually packs properly balanced meals, but is heavy on the snacks, too

You'd think he'd drive too fast, but he's actually really responsible

Constantly telling dad jokes to try and keep people amused the groaners are the best

Would probably fight someone at the gas station if they started being a dick and causing trouble

☆ Bokuto Koutarou ☆

Dear God, do NOT let him drive leave it to Akaashi, I'm begging you

Has really bad spacial awareness in a vehicle and drifts all over the place

Probably speeds without even knowing it, too

Likes to ride shotgun, but is a terrible navigator, so is nearly always made to ride in the back

Is the loud one that moves around too much and blocks the rear view mirror strap him in tight, Akaashi

Belts along at the top of his voice to whatever music is playing, he's not fussy

Was told to pack essential items in his backpack and proceeded to fill it with sweets and snacks and a pack of condoms??? and thought he did good

Bokuto: Bro, you said they were essential

Akaashi: NOT FOR EVERY SITUATION

Rarely ever has to pee, but when he does, it's always miles away from any service station, and he has to hold it for hours

Has definitely peed at the side of the road multiple times because he couldn't hold it any longer, but he wasn't even embarrassed as numerous cars zoomed past

Likes sticking his head out the window like a dog on the motorway which gives everyone else heart attacks

Like, get the hell back inside you maniac 😭

If the car has a sunroof, he's 100% standing up through it with his hands in the air just you try and stop him

And they will. Everyone will try

Will get out of the car in traffic jams to find out what's going on and end up chatting with random strangers until it starts moving again

And he's very sad when he has to leave his new friends. Droopy hair and emo Kou for the next 2 hours :(

Unironically enjoys playing 'I Spy' for hours at a time

Is a bit much to handle in such a confined space for hours on end, but he's just so excited for the road trip

Will fall sound asleep in a matter of minutes if you set him up with a travel pillow and it's freaking adorable!!

☆ Ushijima Wakatoshi ☆

No music whatsoever it's distracting. Why would he want it?

Okay driver, brilliant paper-map navigator

Will sit and do absolutely nothing but stare out the window the entire trip if he's neither

Breaks too hard and accelerates too fast, though

Is also kind of heavy-handed with the gear stick he may or may not have snapped one off before...

Never give him a SAT-NAV, though, because he will follow the directions with 100% accuracy and end up driving through a wall or some shit don't try and deny it

Does he ever even blink when he's looking at the road? We may never know

Might be astral projecting, who knows

Forgets people need toilet breaks but refuses to make unscheduled stops

No snacks

Or rather, no fun snacks. Protein bars and mineral water all the way, babyyyy 🙃🙃🙃

Could probably drive all through the night without taking any breaks but that's irresponsible

Calls shotgun and demands the aux cord every. Single. Time but it's pretty decent music, so no-one really complains

Not that he's any good at navigation pray for Iwa-chan

Is constantly taking selfies, making TikToks, and documenting the trip on his social media

Will send all the photos in the group chat when it's over, and they actually come out pretty well

Will not stop complaining if the air conditioning is busted and Iwa-chan will threaten to dump him in the middle of nowhere if he doesn't can it 😂

Travels in sports wear and sliders yes, even though you reallly shouldn't drive in sandals

Will chat to girls at the gas station and ask for their numbers, even though he's never going to see them again

Thinks it's a good time to sext his current booty call because, like, he has hours of free time. What else is he going to do?

But not his own snacks, of course. Everyone else's one doesn't keep friends and buy one's own snacks

Genuinely doesn't realise if he's being gross or annoying, so let him down lightly like a bro and he'll probably make an effort to stop

Doesn't plan the route or anything, even if he's driving. Just punches it into Google Maps as he sits his ass down on the day and trusts it to get him there in one piece and on time

For some reason knows how to change a flat tire, though, so he's good for something, I guess 😂😂

Somehow still manages to be an endearing part of the trip??

He smiles a lot and makes a lot of jokes, particularly when things go wrong, so it keeps everyone's spirits up

It definitely wouldn't be the same without him
