Lithe fingers gingerly weaved pale strands delicately together. With utmost consideration she laced flower after flower among those snowy tresses, red blooms. Red hues; befitting of Amelia. "Let me know if I pull too hard." She mummured softly, careful not to tug with too much force.

She, BRIDE OF LOVELESS WINTER, now melts underneath a delicate touch as warm as that of the summer sun. Expanse of once pallid cheeks is languidly painted in the brilliant pigments of AMOUR COURTOIS, in bright reds and gentle pinks and unforgiving crimsons ; just like a canvas that is no longer virgin and unblemished, she becomes unconscious and unwilling mirror to the SENTIMENTS of a wounded heart that has, thus far, known naught but unending hunger and visceral despair. SOMETHING FLUTTERS WITHIN HER, in that holy temple of mortal flesh and frail bones and, albeit for the briefest of moments, Amelia wonders whether her companion would be capable of perceiving the uncharacteristically belligerent beats of her heart: this little organ wages a cruel war against her, against her gargantuan dreams and most intimate desires, against all those urges and aspirations that will eventually lead her down a grievous path of thorns and blood ── Is it, mayhap, pleading the other to SAVE her before it’s too late ?

Slender shoulders lose any semblance of dignity as they slump downwards in relaxation and the woman finally allows her long lashes to flutter closed, thus allowing her fatigued eyes a brief moment of much needed, soothing repose. ❝ You spoil me. Wasn’t I supposed to braid your hair, this time ? You would easily be the most beautiful of all students, if you only paid more attention to your pretty face. ❞ Taunting is the vocalization that waltzes on the edge of her serpentine tongue, further embellished by a low toned sound that can only be comparable to the PURR of a content feline. Her position suddenly shifts and Amelia, wholly nonchalant and inherently capricious, leans against the other, completely disregarding Helena’s poor attempts at braiding silver locks. ❝ Now that I think of it... If you were to choose a FLOWER to describe who you really are, which one would it be ? ❞

I find it interesting to think about the falling apart of 3zun in terms of class, and how that intersects with the way NMJ and LXC communicate. When LXC tries to save/protect MY from NMJ after the end of the Sunshot Campaign, in terms of their conflict it doesn't actually matter that much whose position a reader/viewer might personally find more convincing because they're arguing on completely different bases. I don’t think LXC is naive or unwilling to see NMJ's grievances against MY. He's looking at the situation from what he thinks are all angles and arrives at the conclusion that everything MY did is in some way compensated by the war having been ended, WRH having been defeated, and NMJ having been saved -- at least so much as to prevent himself from judging MY. He's trying to convince NMJ here because from his point of view, he’s simply lacking crucial information and will probably arrive at the same conclusion once LXC has told him everything. In turn, it's not that NMJ has more information than LXC or judges the situation in an inherently more rational way. He’s not open to being convinced because he's arguing on a moral and emotional basis: "What MY did, especially when he was in a position where he held power over me, revealed his true nature and showed that he cannot and should not be trusted." This makes the conflict inherently unresovable even at this point because from LXC's point of view, he's merely trying to convince NMJ that he might be misjudging MY, and preventing him from killing him in rage, but the message that NMJ hears is "MY turned LXC against me".

Would NMJ also try to kill the spy if the spy turned out to be, say, a nameless Lan disciple? I think he'd stop and listen for LXC to explain. The trickier question is maybe, would NMJ also try to kill the person who murdered his own superior if that person wasn't someone he'd personally protected and uplifted? I think there's an argument to be made, without being too harsh on NMJ, that when he held his protective hand above MY, he expected him to be morally upstanding in order to justify NMJ's trust in him -- he's basically granting him trust in advance and expecting him to earn it retrospectivally, and when MY doesn't, he feels personally wronged by that. That’s why, at the height of his anger and hurt, he resorts to saying that you couldn’t expect more from the son of a prostitute -- the worst thing he can say, and arguably what’s at the core of the conflict, is that MY abused the trust NMJ granted him. Where NMJ wanted MY to rise above the bad opinions of everyone else, MY turned around and did worse than what was already expected of him, and thus invalidated NMJ’s trust in him (and maybe, in NMJ’s eyes, made him a fool for that). I don't think it's necessary for the sake of this analysis to even pass judgment on what we personally think of MY's actions in order to consider that NMJ isn't being completely rational, but rather highly personal. Class is interwoven with the concepts of loyality and trustworthiness, and the fact that LXC chooses to protect MY (who he knows is a murderer) over NMJ (who is his long-time friend of equal social standing) is, from a certain perspective, an affront to NMJ’s and LXC’s relationship. Where LXC is thinking that he just needs to tell NMJ the full story, in NMJ's eyes, the fact that LXC is even entertaining the idea of believing MY over what NMJ just experienced first-hand, is already a direct attack.

If we look at the conflict this way, it's of course a conflict over and due to MY, but it's not a conflict rooted in the fact that one of them is right and the other is wrong, or in MY playing them against each other. No matter who we want to believe, the situation is already gridlocked, and it only continues from there. LXC takes on the role of a mediator between NMJ and JGY -- I do think he understands the situation at least to some point because he believes it can be resolved once JGY has the same social status as he and NMJ, and by suggesting the sworn brotherhood. He really tries to fix their relationship! (Just...thinking about how from his POV, he's teaching JGY music so that he'll be able to help and support NMJ...) But it's also not his sole responsibility to do so. In turn, NMJ possibly operates on a "keep your enemies closer" basis at this point, but from what we know, he also never clearly communicates to LXC whether he's willing to truly give JGY a second chance, or whether he'll never be able to trust him again. (Which makes him interesting in my eyes, like, why does he not do that? Is it because he's afraid LXC will choose JGY over him? In any case, it's flawed! it’s human! I like it.)

When it comes to the end, there's nothing really to be won. JGY killing NMJ obviously isn't...great...but neither is an AU where NMJ ends up killing JGY. If you dislike JGY, it might seem like the more righteous ending, but in terms of 3zun in a bubble alone, it would have ended in tragedy and destroyed the relationship of the remaining two just as well. (Just like...imagining NMJ trying to justify himself to LXC hurts, doesn’t it?)

隔天在慶生會老師的第三個願望，提到「懺悔」，我記得在今年三月，突發而來的身體不適，我有寫篇文章記載：腸胃流感，我當下居然會想要懺悔，全身無力被弟弟載回家，洗完澡後就上床睡覺，在睡的時候自動地懺悔，翻來覆去夢見一些事情，睡超過12小時，隔天氣色恢復得差不多，去看醫生拿回來的藥沒吃，就這樣像是一場夢⋯⋯也許是因為我有懺悔，才讓病情迅速好轉。我想起過去無知的時候，傷害許多眾生，包含自家的寵物狗兒。現在儘管還沒只吃素，對於昆蟲、螞蟻、蟑螂、老鼠等等若進入我的居所，我只是驅趕離開，不要干擾到我就好。

If even the union between a cleric and a Hunter has been barely enough to defeat their fur-coated enemy, how long will it take before such unholy abominations overhaul the entirety of the holy city ?
