─「凛」─  " master, please forgive me for what i'm about to do — " that was the only warning she could give him, as the URGE to taste, to leave a mark upon him had taken over. lips ghosted over the skin behind his neck, right over his nape before she bit down upon the sensitive flesh. the BITE was gentle, yet tinged in a hint of possessiveness. what ever punishment he would rain on her, she would accept it.

─「凛」─  having her master resting upon her lap, the COUNTER GUARDIAN was serenating him with a tune she recalled from the time she was a mere mortal. a lullaby that her mother once sang to her in the dark night, putting her to sleep and she hoped it would have the same calming effect for her beloved pharaoh. fingers idly toyed with his own, before slowly bringing his digits to her lips, pressing light kisses along his knuckles almost absent-mindedly so. realizing what she did, however, a slight bashful smile spread over her features. " apologies, a force of habit. " to treat him with utmost care and affection, that is.

─「凛」─  the COUNTER GUARDIAN was used to a touch that was meant to hurt, so the tender touch upon her nose was actually rather foreign to the warrior. it took her a moment longer than usual to register the act itself, then another few more to process what it might mean.

                gaze of CRIMSON was fixed upon the pharaoh, only for herself to went on one knee and took his hand, placing it over her cheek and looking up at him after a small bow-like nod. the warmth of his hand against her skin was a feel of reassurance, of safety, of calm.

                “ i’ve returned, master. ”

─「凛」─  “ his devotion to his land, his people, his will to protect those under his ruling makes him a great leader. he’s someone i would follow to the end of the world, cut down any who dare to stand in his way and would sacrifice my own life to bring him victory. ” the CASTER had an unwavering loyalty to the PHARAOH, and it showed in every syllable she uttered about him. her mana, her magic, her sword, she was willing to give anything if it means he would attain the GRAIL he deserved. the next part, however, had her eyes somber in the slightest.

                “ if there’s anything i’d dislike, it’d be how he cares so little about his own well-being. in modern world, this is what we’d call a workaholic. ” it was a TERM belonging to the future, the very future she was born in prior to becoming a counter guardian. “ he often pushes himself past his own limits, most of the time for others than himself. that kind of sacrifice ... i wish he would lessen such habits. but, i suppose i’m more frustrated due to the fact that i could not help shoulder that weight upon his shoulders. ” her hands curled inwardly. “ so no matter what, i will bring him victory in this grail war. for him and only him. ”

"Hey, c'mon don't pout! Y'know what will make you feel better? One of Battler-sama's famous chest massages!" In his attempt to lighten the mood with some humor he raised his hands and suggestively massaged the air. Maybe he could get the other to crack a smile, or maybe he will get slapped. Both possibilities he was prepared for. (For cg!rin ;^))

─「凛」─  crimson orbs were almost in a piercing glare despite how she was unconsciously pouting at her so-called MASTER who had the gall to offer such perverted way of remedy that certainly would’ve earned him a beating of a lifetime if it were in normal circumstance. the COUNTER GUARDIAN immediately had her eyes sharpen like a dagger as she GLARED at him with a threatening growl at the back of her throat.

                “ if you come any closer with those hands, master, i’m going to separate your head from your neck right here and now. ” it was difficult to tell by how fierce her sanguine eyes were if she was JOKING or not. one wouldn’t think she was saying that as mere threats, however, the smallest hint of something softer in that gaze of hers was saying otherwise.

                arms were crossed over her chest, a loud exhale purposely being released as though he wanted him to KNOW how upset she was with him. “ — you idiot of a magus. you literally disappeared on me for years, leaving our contract idle and me not knowing your fate. if you were dead or alive, and now ... now that you’re back, you’re telling me to not be upset — !? you — ”

                she cut off her own words mid-way, lowering her arms only to STRIDE towards him almost hurriedly so. the way she was approaching him was like a predator advancing on its prey but before he could pull up his GUARD or defensive position, the counter guardian forcefully yanked his collar towards her, only for her face to be BURIED to his chest and fingers clutched at his clothing, expression hidden from view by her dark locks.

                “ — do you even know ... how worried i was all those years ? you fool. ” despite her words sounding like a SCOLD, the tone of voice she carried was something else entirely. it was of RELIEF, of happiness, and warmth. a clear show of concern and CARE she harbored for the owner of the pact and another exhale escaped her, this time, it was softer. her free arm slowly came around him, grappling at his back to hide that small tremor thundering over her body.

              i’m so glad you’re alive.

              “ just shut up, and stay like this for a bit, then i’ll forgive you. ”

─「凛」─  the COUNTER GUARDIAN was about to open her mouth right after her master’s apology. after all, there was absolutely nothing for the other to apologize at all but what caught her attention was the full SPREAD upon the wooden table that is usually empty. the caster couldn’t help blinking while staring at the FOOD in awe, even more so when the other had admitted being the one making the amazing spread before them.

                “ master ... this --- ” somehow, the CASTER couldn’t find the words to speak proper as she still tried her best to process what was happening. the food was exquisite, everything looked amazing and delicately crafted. though she didn’t see her MASTER making them with her own eyes, she could’ve already imagined all the trouble and effort being put into the food.

                aah ... when was the last time anyone had cooked for her ... ?

                the silence might’ve WORRIED the magus quite a bit. without a word, the counter guardian took a few steps towards her master, and with no warning given whatsoever, her arms wrapped around her in a tight embrace.

                “ there’s absolutely nothing for you to apologize for. ” her words were uttered in a soft, TENDER manner. a kind of tone that one would say to someone dear to them. she was that to her, after all. she was more than just a MASTER ... much, much more than that. the caster herself had to close her eyes to prevent droplets from escaping. the rise of WARMTH from the organ in her left chest was like a reminder of the time she was still alive.

                when she was human.

                “ thank you, master ... no --- ” slowly, she leaned back, a hand came to caress her cheek as her smile softened. this person ... she vowed to protect her ... and bring her the grail.

                “ thank you, alice. it looks amazing. i hope that you’d enjoy it with me. ”

                i will win this war for you. this time i will not fail ... ---

                --- because you deserve happiness more than anyone.

─「凛」─  she knew for sure that they were after HIM, that was why the counter guardian wasn’t falling for their decoys and tricks of pulling her away from her master’s side. she let them believed she was playing into their hands --- but the MOMENT the assassin class servant showed themselves from the shadow, pulling away their presence concealment skill, the CASTER warped back beside the pharaoh using the rune she placed upon him, her AZOTH SWORD clanking to the cheap dagger the other tried to HURT him with.

                “ don’t touch my master. ” a GROWL erupted from the back of her throat as the sword in her hand glowed with runes, her spell and mana locked within the blade itself then EXPLODED a close-ranged gandr into the face of the ASSASSIN, burning them away and causing them to retreat should they not want yet another magic burst that would be directed to their heart this time.

                with their OPPONENT retreating, crimson orbs lessened in their bloodlust, replaced with a clear hint of concern and deep loyalty as she turned back to the pharaoh. “ are you hurt anywhere, master ? ” she would not forgive them if they have laid a hand on him.

─「凛」─  a sense of NOSTALGIA, a rush of memory coursing through her veins as form was being materialized from thin-air. there was a small, almost WHISPERY sound echoing at the back of her mind. a reminder of the past, a CALLING she was beckoned to answer --- and she did.

                another WAR, another battle, another holy grail. it all came rushing back as her consciousness slowly SOLIDIFIED and the COUNTER GUARDIAN closed her eyes, embracing the feel of the world passing through her as her own existence was beginning to root itself upon this WORLD. foreign, the air felt --- but nothing too bizarre for someone who had been through countless of battles. the CASTER felt steady stream of mana circulating as her pulse thumped lightly within her ears. eyes of CRIMSON revealed themselves to take in the SIGHT of the woman before her. field of GOLD greeted her vision, bringing back that sense of comfort.

                how it resembled his golden locks so easily.

                “ servant caster had answered your call. ” standing on her two feet, and despite wielding a BLADE that could have her be mistaken as a saber, the counter guardian decided to reveal her class to the one who managed to summon her forth. “ --- tell me, magus ... what is your goal for this war ? what are you fighting for ? ”

─「凛」─  usually, the SUMMONING RITUAL would be performed in a closed space in order to reserve mana needed to conduct the ritual itself --- and to prevent any unforeseen interruption that could DISTURB the process. however, from time to time, the calling occurred rather naturally if the MAGUS themselves managed to get a hold of the catalyst and had enough MANA circulating in their veins. THIS time, it was the latter.

                the gust of WIND zipped past her ears and the calling itself was strengthened by the RUBY PENDANT the person had in their possession. the spike of mana solidified her arrival and forming up her very FLESH, binding her to THIS WORLD upon wordless summoning but a sense of URGENCY could be detected in the air. her MASTER was in danger.

                AZOTH SWORD materialized from thin air before she swung it to parry the upcoming ATTACK aimed for the person behind her. he should be able to feel COMMAND SEALS forming over his skin as the BURST of mana surrounded his very being. she cast a quick protective spell --- INTRODUCTION would have to wait. eyes of crimson glanced over her shoulder, CAUTIOUS of the next incoming attacks. a TELEPORTATION spell was incited as magic circle appeared beneath her, a hand extended.

                “ --- take my hand, master. ”

─「凛」─  carrying her MASTER on her back as she flew through the air wasn’t something uncommon for the COUNTER GUARDIAN especially when it seemed that her master tended to like jumping in between her and the enemy servant. of course, she was grateful that he was worried about her well-being, but she could swear she was having a HEART-ATTACK seeing him throwing himself into the fight like that. how he managed to survive this long with such a habit, she didn’t know. having soared the sky for some time, she finally landed upon the ground after deeming it to be safe enough and slowly putting him down.

                “ i don’t think they’re chasing us. master --- how are you feeling ? please let me see your wounds. ”

─「凛」─  “ master, please let me patch up the wound on your arm. ” being INJURED from engaging in a battle was something normal, especially when the COUNTER GUARDIAN knew that her master was someone who would never allow himself to be at the back-line in safety while she was fighting the enemy servant. the caster herself also attained a few injuries from the BATTLE, a long gash across her arm and another across her back. his health was much more important than hers, after all, so her priority was to care for his wounds first.

                “ i know that you don’t like me fighting alone in the frontline that you did say you have my back, but ... seeing you right behind me almost gave me a heart-attack. ” sure enough, he DEFLECTED what could’ve been a fatal blow and protected her, but the thought of her putting him in harm’s way didn’t sit well with her. head lowered and lips thinned. “ ... i should’ve been more careful ... i’m sorry for making you risk your life like that. ”

                “ --- i will if you promise not to throw yourself in between me and enemy servant in an attempt to protect me again. ”

─「凛」─  the COUNTER GUARDIAN had been watching him burying himself at the pile of paperwork ever since he returned from that meeting. in all honesty, the caster had never realized, prior to meeting him that is, how difficult a ruler or the LEADER of the kingdom had it. she, like any other ordinary people roaming the earth, assumed that royalties and kings live a life of LUXURY --- that they would be able to do anything they wanted and everyone is under their command. however, being with the PHARAOH, fighting alongside him, protecting him ... it appeared that they had it just as difficult if not more. it’s not only their lives they shouldered, but the citizen of the whole city.

                “ master ... ” she broke the silence that lingered between them, allowing her voice to reach his mind and breaking his focus. if it wasn’t enough, the way she APPROACHED him to carefully grazed her fingers over his shoulder would serve as another attempt to gain his attention. genuine concern was clear in her voice, in those ruby orbs that gazed at him. “ you should rest. but if you insist on continuing, at least take a short break ? ”

─「凛」─  the echoing of a CALL that resounded at the back of her mind had the counter guardian perk up a little from her short slumber. a SUMMONING that resonated within her soul --- beckoning for her answer caused her to focus once more. another one who found a way to call her forth ? she wasn’t sure if she would call them fortunate or not. but nonetheless, if they managed to summon her, she would pledge her LOYALTY to them should they proved worthy.

                her BODY slowly materialized in the middle of the summoning rings, long DARK strands flowing behind her as she was on one knee, kneeling like a KNIGHT about to meet her king for the first time. whoever this person was --- she’d be the judge on if they have the RIGHT MOTIVATION for this war.

                “ servant caster --- answering your summon. what’s the name of the person who had called me forth ? ”

─「凛」─  “ why do i care about you ... ? it’s true that our alliance is temporary. after this war ... i’d be gone from your side and your life would return to normal ... you’re my master, and your order is absolute to me. however ... ” there was a small pause, the tug at the corner of her HEART where memory resurfaced slowly. the time when she was alive ... how long had it been since then ? she wasn’t sure. the other aged DIFFERENTLY than normal human, after all.

                “ i want you to win ... master, but not at a cost of your life ... or your heart. perhaps, you remind me of someone i know long ago. someone who looked out for me --- someone who tried to save me ... and i wish i could’ve repaid her for everything she did. ”

─「凛」─  " master --- please consider taking a little rest. " the COUNTER GUARDIAN couldn't help voicing out her concern for the other, knowing that she was someone who would work herself down until the point that she'd collaspe out of exhaustion. she was like that, after all, even when the CASTER herself was still alive. something that she hadn't actually admitted to her master before.

                " if you keep exerting your spells like that, your magic circuit could stretch too thin and it'd be dangerous for your health. " her words weren't said in a scolding or lecturing tone, but that genuine care and concern she had harbored for the METAHUMAN. that care which spanned through time and space itself.
