Surrogacy is like sex work in that people can sell their own bodies however they choose and also is an exploitive system that needs more regulations to protect those selling.

fionna and cake drawings before and after watching the episodes so far. it’s nostalgic and somehow cathartic and poignant and relatable and—it just started
#i’m part of the demographic where i was a kid when adventure time started and now watching fionna and cake as an adult makes me emotional#because did they keep us in mind when writing fionna and her attitude towards life#the dissatisfaction#the hoping for something more#something more magical than this dreary life filled with working to live and living to work#it’s so reflective of how life feels for me and perhaps many of us#and also Simon’s episode was so sad but so well thought out#exploring his feelings after the events of the adventure time finale is something I’m glad we get to see#there were already so many layers to his character in AT but now it feels like we get to dive deeper#I also felt emotional hearing Rebecca Sugar singing and writing a song that encapsulates his feelings so well#😭 it’s been awhile seeing her work exist alongside these characters#and all of these emotions get stronger because I remember AT being the one to inspire me to be a storyboard artist#when I was younger I used to follow many of the board artists here in tumblr and would get so inspired by them#to create simple but powerful boards that can capture the feelings of characters so well#Rebecca Sugar’s songs for the AT characters inspired me so much too#I’m sorry this is long I’m just feeling so many things experiencing all of this again as an adult#my art#fanart#adventure time#fionna and cake#fionna the human#cake the cat#simon petrikov

This bad boy was started on the third of November, and finished on the seventh. In total, there are thirty panels (all of which were drawn separately).
A good chunk of N's dialogue near the end came to me after I did some improv to figure out what he should say. I have since dubbed it "N's Failure Monologue."

it's sometimes so silly to look in the notes of a polyamory art/post and see people like "is this cheating art....?" when the characters in canon are all extremely close friends. i know it's not malicious because most people think of monogamy as the default and anything outside that Must be cheating, but truly i'm always like. guys. guys Please.

As gently and politely as I can put this: that post I made about outliving him is meant to be an anti-suicide affirmation. It is not meant to be a blinders-on assessment of reality, of the future boiling down to whether one man lives or dies. It is meant to reassure myself and everyone else that the horrors come, and the horrors go, that nothing is permanent, that hope persists with split knuckles and blood on its teeth. Things are rough. Things will likely get rougher. My eyes are open to that, but in the end, the first thing they want from us is to roll over, surrender, die. And I will not be granting that wish. I deserve to be here. You deserve to be here. We deserve to see the sun rise. And it will. I promise.

all characters are ambidextrous when im writing them (< guy who doesnt know the difference between left and right)
#SEE THE THING IS SOMETIMES THE SWORD LOOKS BETTER ON THE OTHER SIDE COMPOSITIONALLY AND YOU JUST FORGET THAT THATS NOT HOW IT WORKS#and. and then sometimes. you are 100% convinced that what youve drawn is a sword in the left hand. but you are wrong#sigh. i need to stop writing about characters with swords. i cant keep doing this#theres an added layer of hilarity with vulpis (foxboy) in that i originally wanted him to be right handed and then immediately forgot that#after the first panel and started drawing him left handed. so now he's left handed bc he uses his left hand in all but the very first panel#it's way easier for me to keep it consistent with my mc (cottontail) because since the fight scenes are kinda from her pov her back is#usually to the camera. so i can just put the sword on the side that i am actively holding my pen while drawing#and you would THINK it would be easy to just. reverse that. with vulpis. but apparently fucking not#AND FOR SOME REASON THIS ONLY APPLIES TO CERTAIN THINGS?? like cottontail has an asymmetrical character design#with a big spot over the right side of her face. and i have NEVER ONCE fucked up and drawn it on the left. the sword tho? fair game. why#WHATEVER. it's fine im fine this doesn't eat me up inside. i am fine with being perpetually unable to understand simple directions#asks

#my art#my ocs#illustration#original art#I've been really pleased with my recent MSpaint illustrations these past few weeks hehe!!#I suppose it's just the simplicity of the program that helps me create mini narratives throughout them#I'm about to craft some snippits of story and hopefully whoever looks at them can point out those tiny details#As for these two in general I've been on a grind to draw more four-legged animals so here we are!!#I have to say hooved beasts like elk are deceivingly simple#I understand the bones and underlying structures fine/ it's just capture that accurate look at gets me#In my case its mostly the hindlegs and ankles I'll need to keep praciting#I'll need to do more proper studies in the future because as you see these two are very stylized and I just needed things to look 'right'#BUT from what I've learned and what I've drawn I'm happy with the elk I drew so all is well and cheerful hehe

on my third rewatch and just got through ep 3 and man. the devlin house is such a strong fucking episode. like quality-wise. acting-wise. plot-wise. etc. that’s not to say the first two episodes weren’t strong, but the devlin house hits noticeably harder and hits different. like it’s the precise turning point episode where you realize oh. this show isn’t just gonna be campy with a dash of angst. we’re addressing some serious heavy ass trauma. and not just magical unreal trauma either like. just straight up abuse. and the boy who’s been unserious and silly this whole time isn’t just like that for shallow comic relief reasons. there is so much more there lurking under the surface. oh man it’s good
#it’s a very very strong episode very good writing very good acting mwah#rambling#dead boy detectives#jayden revri was getting moderately simple parts to act out and then they hit episode 3 and were like okay jayden :)#let’s see what you can fucking do.#boy.#it was interesting to watch it again and actually pay attention to edwin during parts of this episode#where the focus is on charles and he’s sorta in the background or not at the forefront#specifically when the family keeps getting killed and he’s just standing there. hardly reacting. i know now that that was a choice#at least partially? possibly entirely? decided by george and man i love when an actor knows his character that well#as to consider things like hm. yeah. he’s probably really Really desensitized to violence.
