“He could take that thing he was singing, and just sledgehammer it through somebody’s heart,” Shinoda said with reverence. “I’ve grown to appreciate what we had even more, because it’s hard to get that. I work with people where I go, ‘Oh, can you sing it this way?’ And they just can’t.”
Brad Delson, the band’s guitarist, called “Lost” a “surprise gift” from Bennington. “The performance is so beautiful, delicate and clear,” he said. “I’ve heard a lot of great Chester vocals, and this is among the best.”

But the process of assembling the reissue has provided another means of considering how Bennington may have wanted the band to proceed without him. In particular, Shinoda said he “felt confident” that the singer would have endorsed these expanded editions. “Historically, he was always way more bullish about putting out stuff,” he said. “A typical Chester reaction would have been, ‘Why not just make the album 15 songs?’ When I thought about that, it was very reassuring.”
#Brad is right - the vocals are clear and delicate. and gorgeous#its always so sobering to read these interviews with the band members bc every time i realize again that up until Chester's passing-#-Linkin Park was their full time job and it was way more than just making albums. they had such high standards for themselves-#-in terms of intraband communication and cooperation#and generally just really high standards for integrity and respect - for fans - collaborators - up-and-comers - their elders.for everyone#then all of a sudden they had no choice but to move on from their full time job of two decades and that-#-near constant creative interaction that they knew so intimately was gone. bc at the time and it seems still today-#-they think it doesn't feel right at least not yet to continue creating as Linkin Park without Chester#i don't think a lot of people know how they maintained a truly excellent dynamic with each other and with their fans for over 20 years.#for me anyway it was a very loving and mutually respectful community-like feeling to be a fan of them#i can't think of any time that i felt they had misstepped or needed to apologize#and i think thats bc they were good compassionate people from the start#anyway i miss them. i miss chester deeply. he was a gift.#linkin park#chester bennington#mike shinoda#brad delson#yo mismo
