Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014)

Exodus: Gods and Kings has a few scenes with mild strobes of lightning in the distance, and two scenes where it gets intense. The first intense one happens immediately after the executions of two high-ranking officials, and the second intense one happens just after a looting scene.

All of the camera work in this film is either stationary or very smooth. One high-speed chase sequence involves peril at extreme heights.

Flashing Lights: 6/10. Motion Sickness: 2/10.

TRIGGER WARNING: Acts of genocide described in the Bible are depicted here. There is extensive whitewashing in the casting of this film. The Plagues of Egypt are depicted, including swarms of flies, frogs, and locusts, the river turning to blood, and the deaths of firstborn children.

Magneto's icy gaze meets her own. "And you would do what they say? Like a mindless dog?" He clenches his jaw, his eyes narrowing as he waits for her answer.

The words make him bring a hand to his face to rub at the bridge of his nose. He rolls his eyes and it seems almost he is more exasperated by such a notion than he is worried. He had never seen the Avengers as a good influence to her. Erik delusioned himself with that fact when he knew better. Because he saw softness in her eyes. And determination. He saw honesty, and none of the lost confusion that he had known during her time in the Brotherhood.

"You have never obeyed so I wonder what they must have done for them to even consider you might follow the idea."

The Avengers saw themselves at the top of the pecking order. They were shielded by their moral high ground that they guarded in favour of getting their hands dirty. To them, he was the hyena-- or the Megalodon?

The world did not offer enough mercy. The world could be drowning in plagues of raining blood and some would simply avert their eyes from the sky. Some would do so to look down at the red puddles and see their own faces in a goldish glory.

Many had crawled their way to the obedient services of the master of magnetism in a silvery age of villainy, who spoke against the cruel humanity which lacks precisely the ironically mordant part of the adjective it described. Many had become the coyote in a den of a lion, eating away at the waste he would steal himself to grant himself his own satisfaction.

Back then, the master of magnetism had snarled commands in the voice so threatening of a wolf leading a pack, perhaps. Oh, many had followed almost with appreciation. Once upon a time, Wanda and Pietro had been apart of it before choosing their path to the Avengers. Magneto always felt a sentiment of disgust run through his bones at the slimey submission that stroke the line to hypocrisy they showed.

"I would presume that you do not intent to heed their command. Yet ... you came here, found me-- sought me out. It means you at least listened to them. ... It makes me think you made a grave mistake."

Magneto shoves his cape over his shoulder and it sways in the wind of the mountain range that is sharp with ice. He had been in hiding at Wundagore for a while, regaining strength... Wanda was not the first to find him-- perhaps not the last to make an attempt at him. Erik had hoped that he would not be guarded with her. His gaze hides beneath the helmet-- threatening waves of magnetic rage held ready at his fingertips should she decide wrong. And oh, he oh so hopes, she will not.

Everybody talking about how Cecil is peak Sexy Tumblr Man bc he's Skinny White Guy in a Suit

But nobody talking about how Cecil was also the catalyst for anti-Skinny White Guy in a Suit!

By the time WTNV and Cecil rolled around in 2014 people were sick of skinny white guys in suits!!! They wanted something different! and it sparked a lot of talk around the default white depictions of characters who didn't have canon designs.

There's this image by zenamiarts that depicts a lot of the popular human Cecil designs that started popping up as a result. You started seeing Cecil with long braided hair!! Cecil with a walking stick and chronic pain! There was Cecil who was a just giant floating eyeball. Cecil who could change his entire appearance at a whim. A very popular ask blog where Cecil was a Silkie Chicken. (Newer more modern designs also showcase the eccentric fashion Cecil is now known to wear.)

i mean Fuck. Cecil Palmer was the first male character I saw drawn in a skirt!! he was the first character I saw drawn as gender nonconforming and he got treated and drawn like it was a normal thing and i will never forget that.

was it the perfect depiction of diversity? nah. & it sadly seems like a lot of the surviving artwork of Cecil from 2013-2016 is 'Skinny White Guy in a Suit'. (the 2018 tumblr exodus might have something to do with that :( )

But!!! Cecil really did open the door for future audio drama character designs. (looking at u mr. jonathan the magnus archives)

During todays exam preparation, I found out that Eleazar was an exorcist active during the time of the Jewish War (66-73 AD). He allegedly cured epilepsy by using a seal ring with a healing root hidden beneath it to pull demons out of the nostrils of the possessed while reciting incantations of Solomon that were used by Jewish magicians. He likely possessed a magical compendium similar to the "Book of Remedies," which was considered a work of Solomon.

I first thought the name might be a reference to Eleasar (אֶלְעָזָר), the son of Aaron mentioned in Exodus, but I didn't know there was also an Eleazar who was supposed to be a magician/exorcist.

Don't know if the devs used this as a reference, but I thought this might be an interesting fun fact.

In the ancient world, demons were imagined as squatters, similar to parasites. They cannot live independently but rely on a host: they enter through the "openings of the house," such as the mouth, nose, ears, etc. Once the demons have "entered," they immediately take control of the house. The symptoms range from fever to epilepsy. Commonly, this is referred to as "possession." There is a way of deliverance, carried out by an exorcist. The exorcist's task is to confront the demon's power and "drive it out." To do this, the exorcist can use incantations: spells intended to symbolically "bind" the demon. The most important aspect of this process is that the exorcist must call upon an even greater power, one that the demon fears and flees from.

While this book has many names and many people in it, all the events and opinions portrayed are fictitious. Some real names were used, with permission, but only for aesthetics’s sake. People often express confusion over some of the emoticons in the story. Most are self-explanatory, but just bear in mind that every one has eyes and a mouth. .w. has the periods as the eyes and the w is related to the "kittyface" of :3, with the former emoticon intended as an expression of humble happiness (something like "Aw, shucks!"). The < in <:D is intended as eyebrows, not a party hat, no matter who tells you otherwise. This story is long. The first draft was started in 2011 and continued until 2013, the second draft finished the story in 2013, the third and fourth drafts were refinements of the whole and came around 2014. The fifth draft added a lot more content, introducing an element you'll see as the "Attacheds," and this came in 2015. This formed the basis for the sixth draft in 2016, which was published on Amazon as the First Edition. That draft saw refinement and tweaking for several years (the seventh draft). What you are looking at now is the Second Edition, the eighth and final draft. The point of all this is: I have had many opportunities to change this story. I have taken many things out. The content and how it is treated will make you uneasy, somewhere, somewhen. It is best to read this story by yourself, where you can feel your emotions rawly and give them space.
