Mars tossed him a middle finger but otherwise let the loss (typical, at this point — he didn't know why he kept doing this to himself) go without protest, slumping back into his seat with a heavy sigh.

He led his head roll over lazily to look at Santiago to his right. "Will you hurry the fuck up and lose already?" he asked, ever the sore loser. "I don't know if I've told you this yet, but you're my ride home. Gertrude's in the shop right now." By Gertrude, he meant his aging moped, and by shop he meant Baz.

There's a form of exhilaration inherent in the thrill of discovering new places, and it's something Marco has always found enjoyable. Not for the first time since he got into town, however, he is beginning to wonder if he might have been just a little bit hasty about picking up his whole life and moving to the sleepy little corner of Colorado known as Greywood; sight unseen. It's gorgeous here, picturesque and quaint and all the things Mexico City is not...but the residents seem on edge, and no one he's met thus far has been keen on explaining why. Perhaps this is merely part of being a 'stranger' in town. Marco decides not to take it personally. The best way to lose the label is to make friends, and find connections. He's got a head start--distant relatives of the Navarros were founding members of Greywood--and old familial ties run deep in circles like theirs.

He's holding a business card in his hand as he steps through the door of the salon; a friendly smile on his face as he peers around at the place. It's early, and they've only just opened for the day so there aren't any customers yet filling the stylist's chairs. It's been several years since they met one another at a family gala back home, and Marco doesn't immediately recognize the man he's come here to see. "Pardon me," he asks the receptionist, his Spanish accent only mildly peeking through, "I'm looking for Santiago Flores. Do you know if he will be in today?"

There was an art to dishonesty that was distinctly childlike. If one were to ask a child for the reason there were pastry crumbs wiped off on the curtains, they would create an account far grander than could be crafted by the average adult's imagination. Thus, the dishonesty Delphine practiced in the present was simply her way of honoring her own mischievous inner child.

Complications could only arise upon the event of being revealed as dishonest. So, under the cover of night and the assumption of heady wine swirling sure and slow within the various heads of state at tonight's dinner, Delphine trusted in the utter impossibility of such a revelation and allowed herself the moment to take in the surroundings of the Prime Minister's quarters. As her eyes spied something of interest, a gasp escaped her, muted only by the sudden opening of the door. She searched for a decent — or, at least, excusable — hiding place, but found none, choosing instead to remain where she was, hand discreetly tucking away the file of her fascination.

There he entered, her complication. Once, her mark, but now — something far closer to her mind, perhaps even her heart, than she dared admit. Her tether to something real. "You're..." Back? Finished? Here? How silly any of those would sound. So, she settled on, "...unharmed." Then, the cover: "Or, are my eyes simply deceiving me?"

"So, like, where'd you end up after us, anyways?"

Ultimately, she knew the final answer, considering the two were sat across from one another in the same booth in the same restaurant in the same town.

The question is just barely distinguishable around her impatient first bite of pizza, words huffed out with an attempt to save the roof of her mouth from its fate at the hand of practically still molten cheese.

(It does not stop her from going in for bite number two a mere second later.)

"Did you, like, go on a journey of self-discovery and find yourself in Ireland?" That would explain the pub, at least. "Get married? Have any kids of your own to teach how to cut their pancakes?"

He was the first boyfriend of Libby's that she could remember even cooking for them at all, really.

"Ah," He said, with a nod, curious to leave and come back but not unheard of. Not at all. "and what brought you back home, then?" Perhaps the witch did not fit so well with the humans out there, who was he to judge.

He chuckled, "Aren't most days like that?" He had lived through countless of them, he would certainly know.

"Perhaps I was just waiting for the right company." His smile was genuine, as genuine as could be anyway. He could tell the other was nervous, was he unused to the creatues in New Haven? Did vampires make him twitchy? Either way, Santiago wanted to bury his fangs in him that night, and he was willing to work for it.

"So, will you let me pay you a drink? Perhaps give a little emotion to your day at last..."

Keegan moving his eyes away from the bartender slightly to see his new companion next to him, he smiled briefly before letting it fall flat again. “That’s because I haven’t been in town since I was 17.” He admitted. He wasn’t one to admit much about his past but he did allow little dustings every now and then. It had been a long time since he was in town, but he supposed he was happy to an extent to be back.

“Something along those lines. It was just long, boring, and slow. How about you? What’s got you drinking alone?” He asked curiously, noticing the others fangs, he immediately began to tense ever so slightly. He was used to himself being a witch, but he wasn’t used to running into different creatures that he wasn’t used to being around. He was still human after all. He was hoping that the alcoholic drink would subside his restlessness and nerves.

It hadn't taken much for Gabriella to agree to the date when she had been approach and now, she was more than thrilled that she had. When the college course had been decided upon, she would have never guessed that it would have led to her catching the attention of one of the professors. Santiago had been charming from the start and the artistic ability had caught her off guard when he has presented her with a drawing. That had been enough to get her to agree to a date. Now here, Gabriella was listening to him talk about his classes. A sip of her wine and a small laugh. "It sounds like they are a handful." This was why she hadn't gone into teaching, no patience for it. "I'll take poking people all day over that," she offered with another light laugh. // @kiissme

Everything was a rotating door of meaningless faces. 

But just like she did every single time, she picked herself up quickly and put on her best Callie smile.  ❝ But hey, another round on me. What do you say? ❞

Every second counted, but Atticus takes the asked for minute to consider Santiago's point.

"What if I told you I had red?"

The best Jell-O flavor, as far as he was concerned, and clarified just in case the reason behind Santiago's lack of enthusiasm was tied to a fear he'd be stuck with the worst flavor (green). Atticus wouldn't even blame him for not wanting to help if that were the case. He sure wouldn't.

He doesn't even have to be given a name to know who must've gotten to his pseudo uncle first.

"Fucking Nora." Atticus groans, fists knocking gently against the countertop but stilling as Santiago's words catch up to him. Eyes narrowing suspiciously, he slowly tracks the man's line of sight over his shoulder to the jukebox in the corner, where he could just make out the top of his head peeking out from behind.

(Fucking Nora, he thought fondly.)

Part of Atticus considered bee-lining it for the machine, but he forces himself to turn back to Santiago, resting his forearms atop the bar.

"I think I got it, but now I'm just wondering how long you could've kept going with the references if I didn't."

"Yes, I've seen your face, Atticus," Santiago deadpans, as though he had just been asked had he ever observed that the sky was blue.

He hushes then so his not-biologically-but-sort-of-by-proxy-nephew can continue, his forearms leaned on the top of his bar as he nods along, playing dumb about the event of all events it seemed, if the way one of his staff kept talking about it was anything to go by.

"I want you to stop for a minute and ask yourself is offering a pub owner a Jell-O shot while he's working in that very pub he owns is the most enticing motivator."

He remains neutral faced as he opts to give the freshly thirty year old an additional gift to the one he had for when he wasn't quite as Jell-O shot'd, nodding his head towards the juke box near the men's room.

"I respect the rules that I've been threateningly told which was pretty much just 'don't tell him anything', so consider this me telling you nothing. This is your Journey to go on alone, birthday boy. You got this as long as you Don't Stop Believin'."

Auggie relaxed when he realized Santiago was the person Rosie had found her way to, the panicked fog clearing immediately. It made sense; she sort of had a sixth sense for to his presence at this point. She probably knew that he was heading down the street as soon as he turned onto it. "Oh, right, of course. I forgot we're still helping Uncle Tiago with his illiteracy, aren't we?" He bounced Rosie a bit on his hip to prompt her, and she nodded seriously in turn. "You're doing a great job, though, honey. He'll get there someday."

He looked back at Santiago with a grin. "I knew how to work the register by the time I was her age, so," he shrugged. "Figured she should pull her weight for the family business. And so should you, actually. Wanna shelve some books while you're here? It'll get me out faster, and then we go get ice cream. As promised."

"No way." Santiago says in astonishment, like he's been told the most unprecedented plot twist of all time by the little girl who was telling him about the end of the book in her hands. He knows well how the story goes, he's read the same to Rosie a dozen times but that never stopped his exaggerated reactions during each retelling because they were enough to get a laugh from her.

When Auggie lifts her up, Santi stands up straight from where he had been crouched beside her pondering the pages, shooting his brother in every way but blood a look he knew well.

"It wasn't her fault, that was all me. I had to know what happened at the end of the book and you know she's still teaching me how to read."

It had been an ongoing joke with his goddaughter and Santiago wasn't sure which one of them it amused more.

"Have you already got her working? I thought we said six was more reasonable."

Announcement: 1/29/2020

Good evening, y’all! I just want to give a quick update on what activity on this blog is going to look like, which muses are going to be active (and to what extent), and all that good stuff. I’m placing it under a “read more”, simply because this will be a long post.

General Notes

State testing will soon be upon my students. I’m working hard to prepare them. On the plus side, this Saturday (2/1/2020) is my last debate meet of the semester! That said, we’re implementing some study Saturdays, where I’ll be offering tutoring/mini-lessons for four hours on select Saturdays. I will place semi-hiatus notices in advance for those. 

I’m also contending with a severe depression. I have it in my Habitica app that I need to do at least one reply/ask/meme a day, so I don’t fall out of the habit/give into the dark side, but expect me to be a little slower. Some of y’all know what triggered this particular bout of depression - nothing RP related, but it is intensely personal and intensely painful. I’m getting the professional help I need and I have to remind myself that that’s what matters right now. Good vibes are appreciated, though! Always. And as always, I’ll be sending you guys love and positive thoughts at every chance I get. 

Summer will be better.

Muse Activity

My muse activity, as anyone with a MuMu or multiple blogs will attest to, fluctuates. However I want to give some notes on all muses for those of you who are curious.

Rudyard Funn: Rudyard is listed as active and he is! I’m struggling to keep up with old threads from his former blog, so if you have something you’d like to keep from there, please link me! 

Georgie Crusoe: I’m testing Georgie. I’m not ready to unleash her on new RP partners (unless they RP canon Wooden Overcoats characters), just because I’m getting used to her and deciding whether or not I plan to keep her. If you enjoy my Georgie, please let me know!

Masha Voronina: Masha is active, but I am insecure about my female OCs in general. Please send love/asks/anons/threads her way! 

Anna Garcia: Like Masha, Anna is active and I’m a bit insecure about my female OCs so any love is very appreciated! That said, I’m pretty confident in her voice and PSYCHED about the urban fantasy world I’ve built surrounding her (and Santiago and a bunch of unlockable OCs and verses for canons...) Hit me up!!

Victor Frankenstein: Victor is really only open for interaction with @professor-of-predators. I’m using him to cope with some things and I don’t really want to open him up to others at this point in time.

Finnegan: Finnegan is so underrated. PLEASE hit me up for him! He’s active and terrible but capable of growth. 

Diaval: I haven’t seen “Maleficent 2″ yet. I will! That said, I’ve had a huge resurge of muse for him. Please RP with him! Minor changes might be made to his bio when I see M2, but from what I’ve heard, I’m on the right trajectory with him anyways.

Elizabeth Lavenza: Elizabeth is on hiatus. When I bring her back, I want to divorce her from my 2015 verses more (still have Victor with an NPC sister) and allow her to shine without Victor looming over her. This is a project to consider in the summer, if the muse strikes.

Erik: Erik is selective af. I’ve never made it a secret that I think the Pha.ndom is a total cesspool. I am willing to play Erik, but insofar as shipping goes, please just assume that my endgame is Erik/Nadir with my Nadir unless we’ve explicitly discussed otherwise. I’m just really exhausted with feeling like this muse is romanticized, sexualized, and fetishized. 

Nadir Khan: Nadir is so selective, I should just put him on hiatus. I don’t have a lot of muse for him outside of fanfiction right now. If you have an interesting plot idea, feel free to message me, but I may not have the spoons to indulge you.

Gleb Vaganov: Gleb is on indefinite hiatus. I have lost inspiration for him, but hope that he may return to me in the future. 

Santiago Ortiz: Santiago is selective, but only because he’s a little harder for me to write than some of the others. If you want to plot, message me! I’m eager to use him, he’s just very different than my usual “type”. I’m excited about his universe and using him.

Percy Blakeney: I have muse for Percy, but I think I’ll put him on semi-hiatus for my mental health. I also know not many people know what to do with him and that’s okay! If you have a specific plot, lmk.

Marguerite St. Just: Like Percy, I have muse for Marguerite, but I’m putting her on semi-hiatus. Not many people know what to do with her and that’s okay! If you have a specific plot, lmk. 

Madeleine de Chandon: I have inspiration for this OC, but I want to revamp her. She is so far on hiatus as I workshop her that she isn’t even listed on my muse list.

Jaskier: I want to pick up Jaskier from “The Witcher” as a muse, but I want to do some test writing - fanfictions, private RPs, etc. If you’d like to privately RP with him, message me! He’ll be Netflix based because I don’t know anything about games besides what the Wiki tells me. Not sorry.

Please note that it is physically impossible for me to devote the same amount of time/focus/energy on each of my muses as the same time. I hope to keep my turn-around times short, but I ask for your patience as I do work full-time and am dealing with a lot of RL stressors. This is a hobby, not my job.

Verse Reconstruction

You may have noticed I’m not tagging verses. I’m working on deciding how to go about doing that in an efficient way. My threads will be a little messy for the time being but I’m thinking of doing big, blanket verse tags (ex. .001 | canon, .002 | modern, .003 | historical, etc.). I might include more specific tags, but I don’t know what that will look like.

I do know that all my muses will have their canon verses, a modern verse (if they are not a modern character), an urban fantasy verse (if they are not urban fantasy character), historical verses (generally tagged or tagged by era), a Disney verse (if they are not a Disney character), a D&D/medieval fantasy inspired verse, and so forth. I’m sure there are others I’ve neglected to include in this list. 

Give me time to construct these tags and/or pages. I work full time and can’t believe I’ve carved time to make an announcement post.

Graphics/Layout/Etc.

I need to save up to commission my favorite graphics-maker to beautify this blog. In the meantime, I hope it’s easy enough to navigate and not too unsightly!

Misc.

If you’ve read all of this, please know that I love you. Thank you for being patient with me as I’ve searched for an online home. Hopefully I will feel at ease on my MuMu.

001. Pool Party Mayhem 

Y’all, I thought I was at Santiago’s last night with the amount of DRAMA that happened. Woooo weee lawwwwd. This jus’ the beginnin’ of the shenanigans that’s bout to be happenin’ in here. 

THE GOOD NEWS: Mikethena is back y’all! 

I know I had my peace ‘bout them ‘bout years ago, but when true love finds its way back together, ya ol’ man’s heart pacer just went thruuuu the roof! Many blessin’s on their bloomin’ relationship (Y’ALL BEST LEAVE THEM BE IN THEY LIL BUBBLE OF HAPPINESS.)

Chile, when I say I done cried at Simon’s game. I cried. After hearin’ through the grapevine he was havin’ some lady problems, it looks like either Aphrodite done blessed him, or them drinks was strong enough to give him GAME. As y’all know, this gon’ be the first Maldette Pool Party Nessa attends as a single woman y’all! But it ain’t been easy and Gemma said it! ‘Course Nessa managed to snoop on her ex’s feed the other day to see him spotted with some supermodel and whewwwww, if y’all saw that rumble between them at The Teacup, y’all know it’s been rough! We all sayin’ our prayers that the dragon does not come out to play, but when yo’ heart get broken, the pain stays for a while.

Shego and Barrel of the former Doom Squad, had ya ol’ man rollin! Between the roasts, and they’re FUCK LISTS, and rollin’ Nessa into an angry tirade. We love ‘em and I was personally saddened when they done skipped the party! (But shame on y’all for rollin’ that poor girl!) 

Dory and Manny, WHEW CHILE. When I say ain’t they the sweetest thang I done ever saw, I mean, the greatest thang I done ever saw. Y’all best protect our lil swimming chile, Mr. Manny. 

Sulley and Arista, our favorite engaged couple were just spillin’ some extra tea to Miss Aphrodite Helios herself and I knowwwww she is ready to hear all the tea comin’ soon.

But Guy Who's Trying to Catch Mothman is certainly an interesting and unique choice. Even Roxy was around and you'd have bet me a million dollars to guess I wouldn't have got it."

And that wasn't a commentary on Santiago's costume making abilities, but more of a observation that Jasper wasn't as up to scratch with popular media as he thought. At least he assumed it was some kind of popular media.

"I'm here with Hannah, my daughter," he then answered. "I'm still getting used to saying that out loud! And then I was just with Tess a while ago, but she must have bumped into someone she knew."

"Atticus Finch, of course you are," Santiago says with a click of his fingers, as if he would have gotten there on his own eventually without any help from Jasper.

There was nowhere to go wrong with one of the literary greats as he put it, Santiago's 'costume' on the other hand, left plenty to be desired.

"I'm not really dressed as anything, if I'm honest. Unless Roxy's around then I'm Guy Who's Trying To Catch Mothman. I've got a net--" He points his thumb over his shoulder, to somewhere non-specific by the bar, "Somewhere. I'm just staying for one and then I'm going to dip. Are you here by yourself?"
