Previously on SG1… Vala had her baby and it was rather unusual. Daniel found a lead on how to kill the Ori, and we’re fighting a losing battle.

Very unprofessional of Hutchison to compliment Vala’s appearance. That’s got nothing to do with the evaluation, that’s all him, and it’s uncool.

Vala gives Hutchison a good what-for later, though. Not about him inappropriately remarking upon her looks, but a good what-for regardless.

My cat just tried to help Mitchell catch the lizard. Teal’c got it first.

I’m not a fan of the joke at the end there, with Vala claiming that Woolsey made sexual advances at her. The idea is that she’s getting back at him for the manipulation he participated in during Vala’s psych evaluation, and none of the other characters legitimately suspect Woolsey of sexual harassment, so we’re all just supposed to laugh at him protesting his innocence, laugh at Vala getting him back for the evaluation, and move on. I recognise that, but honestly I don’t think there are any circumstances under which jokes about sexual impropriety are funny to me, and I get specifically irked by anything which plays into the idea of women making up harassment or assault accusations just to mess with guys, even if it is framed as a joke and not serious. The problem of women being accused of lying about being abused if they dare try to report it is too significant and widespread for me to have a sense of humour about jokes which perpetuate the ‘lying women’ myth. Swing and a miss for me there.

My (grown up, adult) brother calls this episode ‘Sleepy Bug Ground’. Not to be confused with ‘Eat-y Bug Ground’, which was last season. To be honest, amusing myself by thinking of the episode as ‘Sleepy Bug Ground’ is the most fun I have with this. It isn’t terrible, but it’s certainly not thrilling either, and it seems kinda strange that they managed to fill an entire episode with such spare storytelling. At least we got to watch Christopher Judge wrestle a rubber lizard in a bag.
