I feel like part of the reason why Harry is able to become sober in Martinaise is not just because of his amnesia but because he is away from RCM

he isnt there to fulfill some "2 cases a week" quota and is able to take his time with the case for as long as he wants

And most importantly he is allowed freedom to do things outside the main investigation. Majority of time he is doing some sidequests that are not necessarily connected to the case. Setting up a night club in a church, exploring the entroponetic anomaly, buying a book about cockatoos, joining the communist group, helping to find cryptid bugs, preventing a little girl from standing in a cold weather, painting a mural, singing karaoke etc etc. a chance for harry to actually feel more than just a cop

I understand why people do it but using "Kim and Harry would take a bullet for each other" as an expression of their personal closeness is meaningless when canonically, Kim would have thrown himself in front of a bullet to save Harry before they even knew each other. It doesn't matter if Kim likes Harry or not -- they're both officers of the RCM, currently acting as partners, and therefore Kim sees it as his job to protect Harry's life without regard to personal safety. I'd bet Kim expects the same of Harry, at least subconsciously. It isn't about love. It's about duty

The thing that gets me about Harry's disco throwback clothing is that, in the game setting, disco wasn't that long ago. The game is set in '51 and disco was a late 20s-30's phenomenon. Him walking around in flared pants and a green crocodile skin shoes seems quirky to us, the audience, but in the context of the game he's wearing the worst fashion from 25 years ago. Imagine having to talk to the cops and the detective interviewing you is dressed like this:

kim is such a real one cuz if you fail a check to pick your nose and instead piss yourself in front of a random stranger he'll be like no no my partner is just messing with you, it's a prank, etc. he never sells you out, but afterwards he will take you aside and be like look. if you need to go potty just tell me. and throw those trousers out while you're at it they do not help your complexion.
