my new OC: cempaka!

she is based on the story/universe that my friend @haydardotjpg's OCs indra and yuwei exist in! pls go checkout haydar's art he is amazing!! his ocs can be found more easily on his ig but if you're lazy this is his oc indra (cempaka's one-sided love interest) and yuwei (indra's fated lover)

also, cempaka means "magnolia" in malay!! (she gets a flower name bc my name is lilly which is also flower c:)

i accidentally had "poinsettia" flower in mind when i did this iteration instead of an actual magnolia, hence the color scheme. but yeah, this is as self-insert as it gets LOL like she's literally MEEEEEE but still very different and i love her as she is <3

To end this mix of a year, here's smth I want to say: It's been...a year, hasn't it? Thank you all for supporting me in my art journey here since I never thought people other than my friends would like my art. This year was a mix of some ass days or months or some of the best days I wish I could relive. But most of all, I'm happy for the friends & new things I've gained along the way as even if this year isn't much, this journey really means a lot to me and uhm-..

the paper isnt specific on gintama itself (the writer seems to be inspired by another paper of the same subject but with kimi ni todoke as the source material)

a lot of speech act discussions (i was expecting analysis of the manzai format from the title lol) and just explaining different ways of apologizing/blaming (gomennasai/moushiwakearimasen/etc) by using lines from gintama

all things considered i hope the writer enjoyed rewatching gintama as they write this thesis. familiar names makes it fun to read

The Siblings Finally Talk

(TW! Descriptions of violence and death, along with attempted sororicide and a mental breakdown)

Melati stands right on the dining table, Keris (Alya) in hand as she stared down at Aditya, bound in white string.

"Ayo" Aditya began, avoiding eye contact, "Rampungake aku. Iku sing dikarepake, ta?". Melati sighed, "Aditya-" "Opo? Arep nyoba lan alesan karo kula? ngethok, Nur".

"kowe ngerti Nur, aku biyen kepingin weruh kowe mati. Aku tansah kepéngin ndelok kowé keselak getihmu déwé sing nyuwun pangaksama. Aku biyen kepingin nempelake tanganku ing wetengmu lan njabut njeromu siji-siji……." still avoiding eye contact, Aditya turned his head towards his older sister, scowling. "…… nanging kayane ora bakal kelakon, ora karo sampeyan ngapusi lan njebak aku. Dadi, ayo, rampungake apa sing wis diwiwiti Nur"

After a brief moment of silence, Melati finally took a deep breath.....

And cut the string keeping Aditya at bay.

Aditya, who was half expecting Melati to either cut his neck or seal him away, was stunned. And right before he could say anything, Melati tossed the sacred dagger hosting Alya to him, leaving the Kuyang confused.

"ayo dik, mateni aku kaya sing tansah diimpi-impi"

Aditya was still shocked, but gradually he became suspicious. "Nur, apa rencanamu?" he asked, eyeing both the Keris and Melati. "Ora ana apa-apa" Melati replied, "sampeyan ngerti yen akeh kekuwatanku asale saka Alya. Ora ana sing bisa daklakoni saiki"

Aditya was still doubtful, still, he took the dagger (and Alya) in his hands. Yep, it wasn't a fake, it's Alya alright. "Kenging punapa?" Aditya asked, in complete disbelief, "A kurban tentrem. Ing ijol-ijolan kanggo safety kabeh wong kene, Aku bakal menehi sampeyan urip. Getih kanggo getih, urip kanggo akeh … "

Aditya, after a brief pause, finally steps forward, gripping Alya harshly. "Yen ngono….." he said, right before dashing towards Melati and stabbing her in the stomach with the dagger three times. Not once during the event did Melati flinch, if anything the shaman simply stepped forward, burying the blade deeper into her stomach. After the third stab, Melati collapsed onto the floor, blood pouring from the open wound, Aditya standing over her with..... nothing in his eyes.

Staring at the blood-stained dagger, Aditya was silent, and then, he laughed uncontrollably. "Aku…. akhire tak lakoni…. aku nyuduk adhikku dhewe, getih dagingku dhewe…. nanging kok?" Aditya falls onto his knees.

"kok……. kok rasane dadi….. kosong. Peteng, sengsara, sepi, pathetic, njijiki, jijik. Akhire aku bisa mbales kabeh kasangsaran sing ditimbulake dening dheweke…… kenapa? kok koyo ngene iki? kok ora krasa mardika lan bebas? Kok aku krasa luwih elek? Kenging punapa kasangsaran punika taksih wonten? Kenapa?"

With a ear-piercing shriek, Aditya crumbled onto the floor and disappeared, along with Alya. Leaving Melati to bleed out onto the floor.

Aditya : Go ahead, finish me, that's your plan isn't it?

Melati : Aditya-

A : What? Still trying to reason with me? Cut the crap. You know Nur, I've always wanted to see you dead. I've always wanted to watch you as you choke on your own blood, I've always wanted to stick my hands into your stomach and pull out all your organs bit by bit. Alas, that isn't happening is it? Go ahead, finish what you started.

M : Go on, dik (short for adik, a term used to refer to younger sibling), kill me like you have always dreamed.

A : Nur, what are you planning?

M : Nothing. You know most of my power is from Alya (the dagger). There is nothing I can do now

A : Why?

M : A peace offering, In exchange for everyone here, you can kill me. Blood for blood, a life for many.

A : Is that so?

A : I... I finally dit it. I harmed my own sister, my flesh and blood.... why?

A : Why does it feel so wrong? Why does it feel so empty? Why? Where is the feeling of satisfaction, freedom? Why do I feel so horrible?

Some fact, the first one happen when Melati wants revenge on Nightmare after he kill Jasmine and tried take control him.

Second one is after that happen, everything go back to normal but only Melati realised how much his savepoint power (that make him immortal) will effect in future.

Johanna Mulyani, the (late) director of my homebrew Delta Green organisation set in Indonesia :) I sketched this for mother's day because she really is a tiger mom to the agents. I imagine she pours herself a drink before she reads the operation report like the morning paper because of all the stupid things that happen in it. She has Litchenberg scars down her right arm + shoulder and up her neck from being electrocuted.

(She's dead now lol I drowned her then had a skinripper kill and replace her)

Loosely in the sense that she will call people who annoy her/people she finds obnoxious "buddy/pal" in a sarcastic way, or will say someone who dislikes her is her best friend. She can count the people who she's called friends and meant it with the fingers of one hand. One of them is Linda Carter, who she became really close to after the whole mess with the restraining collar and the reptilian mind control.

25. What subject / topic do they know a lot about that’s completely useless to the direct plot?

The whole part of microbiology that involves parasites. She studied it when she was getting her degree to become a biochemist because it was required to get her PhD, but it hasn't really come in handy since, mostly because she focused on the part of biochemistry that would allow her to tinker with Doc Connors' formula to regrow her legs.

52. Do they act on their immediate emotions, or do they wait for the facts before acting?

She doesn't wait for the facts. She will act on her immediate emotions, get the facts, and most likely continue acting on her immediate emotions– depending on what causes those emotions. An example of this is her shaping her whole life around doing what would get her into Doc Connors' laboratory long enough to steal his formula and adapt it to her DNA so that she could "fix" herself after the crash that cost her her legs. It took YEARS and by the time she had the formula, she had all the information, all the files about the failed experiments and Doc Connors —one armed and heavily traumatized by his own experience with the formula— right there as living, breathing proof of all that could go wrong when using it. She knew that there were higher chances of becoming a monster than of staying human, but she'd be a monster WITH LEGS and that was enough for her, so she only cared about making the formula good enough to not completely lose her mind and become a mindless creature.

Another, and lighter, example is her flirting with Reptil —who was stuck in his future self's body— and hitting on him without letting him get a word in cause she was curious about his dinosaur form, until he finally managed to tell her he's actually 16 even though he looked 30, and Melati quickly retreated, horrified.
