Jon and Dany's relationship Explaination
From reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/freefolk/comments/6vpsrm/jon_and_dany_relationship_explanation/ u/solomon585858 Aug 24, 2017, 2:49 AM I found this comment on YouTube and thought it would've been a waste not to post it here: I've seen alot of comments lately that Jon and Danys romantic relationship is rushed, forced and/or pure fanfiction. I think these statements are wrong and that their relationship is actually one of the better, if not the best written and developed romantic relationship in the series. I'm gonna break down why I think so - beware, long f*cking post ahead: So, how when exactly does Dany and Jon start having feelings for eachother and why? First off, it's worth noting that time passes off-screen as well. Sansa tells us that Jon as been gone "for weeks". We don't know exactly how many, it could be 3, or 7. Point is that the show leaves plenty of time for Dany and Jon to actually develop feeling for each other, it's nothing that happens over the course of 2 days. If you're around someone you like for several weeks, chances are that you will start having romantic feelings for said person. It's also worth noting that both of these characters repress their feelings and do their best to hide it from the other. Jon is better at repressing his emotions because of his personality. He has a strong sense of duty and purpose, and probably the highest willpower in Westeros, and in his mind, the nr.1 goal is to defeat the Night King. Unlike Robb, Jon won't let love distract him. This is shown in the series as well, because we know for a fact that Dany and Jon love each other by the end of episode 5, and Dany has already cracked down and done two attempts (albeit half-heartedly) to show Jon her feelings for him by this point. He doesn't reciprocate her advances though (he still manages to repress his feelings), which she interprets that he doesn't love her. I actually believe that Dany was sincere when she said that "Jon Snow doesn't love me" to Tyrion in episode 6, she truly believed that he didn't at that point. So how did it all progress? We start in episode 3 with their first meeting. It doesn't start well, and it shouldn't. Dany does her usual "Submit to me, I'm the rightful Queen"-speech wich usually makes people either threaten or submit to her. Jon does neither, which she finds intriguing. She doesn't like him at this point, but she doesn't dislike him either. Jon on the other hand, shows some seriously bad diplomatic skills, which Tyrion points out later in the episode, but he's never rude or disrespects her, even when he asks if he's her prisoner now. By this point, both know that the other have been trough various stages of hell before they came here. In the next scene, they talk alone. Unsurprisingly, they find it easier to talk to eachother when there's not a room full of people watching them. There's some more disagreements, but Dany takes the first step at improving their relationship with the Dragonglass, and Jon can barely hide his surprise. Dany get's curious about Jons comment regarding him not liking what he's good at (which is a trowback to what Ser Barristan Selmy told Dany about her brother Rhaegar earlier: He was good at killing, but he never liked it) and throws a curious glance at Jons back when he leaves. End of episode 3 - They are friendly to eachother, and both are curious about the other. Not really any romance worth mentioning going on as of yet. In episode 4 their relationship improves further. Dany trusts Jon enough at this point to leave her guards behind, and why shouldn't she? He's never been hostile to her. In the cave Dany's resolve weakens somewhat when she see's the paintings. She still wants Jon to submit, but now she's trying to reason with him instead of simply demanding that he submits. Jon brings up why he can't bend the knee for the first time, instead of just saying that he won't. We also get to see Jon showing some feelings for Dany at the first time during this scene, when he eyes her constantly every time she looks away or looks at the wallpaintings. Davos brings this up later in the episode, and Jon doesn't deflect but freely admits that he is eyeing her out. He also states that there's no time for that kind of relationship with Dany. After the cave-scene Dany looses her temper with Tyrion when he brings the bad news. It's debatable if she's being unfair to Tyrion, but he is her hand and it was his plans that went to hell. Surprisingly, Dany turns to Jon for advice, and he not only gives her good advice, he also manages to soothe her firey temper. Jons ice soothes Danys fire. Quite beautiful in a way. End of episode 4 - Relationship improves. They are not just friendly to eachother, but they now trust eachother. Both have at this point secretly shown interest in the other. No romance, but something is definitely growing. In episode 5 things are starting to happen, and we get to see Dany having real feelings for Jon during this episode, even if she barely acts on them. Dany is clearly affected by Drogon and Jon having a moment. She's surprised and intrigued by what happens, and finds it very attracting. This has been confirmed by the showwriters and Emilia Clarke if it wasn't already obvious in the show; Dany got attracted to Jon in this scene. During their smalltalk later Jon is eying Dany out again, and what could've been a somewhat intimate moment about Jon having been killed and reborn is halted by Ser Jorah Friendzone, first of his name. In the next scene, Dany is for the first time, albeit not intentionally, open about her feelings for Jon. Both Tyrion and Jorah picks up on this. She clearly doesn't want Jon to leave, especially not on what is essentially a suicide mission. She does a half-hearted attempt at preventing his departure. In episode 3, she would've forcefully prevented him from leaving, but now in episode 5, her feelings for Jon have changed drastically. If anything, she seems to approve of Jon telling her that he doesn't need her permission to do anything. She's a Queen, but he's a King. We know that Dany is attracted to strong men who treat her with respect and as an equal. No more attempts at making Jon bend the knee. During the third and last scene in episode 5, Dany actually opens up to Jon about how she likes having him around. Jon does not reciprocate her feelings however (he probably wants to, but as we know, he's telling himself that he doesn't have time for a romance right now) and she wrongly interprets this as a sign that he doesn't have any romantic feelings for her. Again, I think Dany was 100% sincere in episode 6 when she thought that "Jon Snow isn't in love with me". Up to this point, Jon has only shown his romantic feelings for Daenerys when she isn't looking. How can she know? End of Episode 5 - Friendly relationship has grown into the start of a romantic relationship. Dany is clearly having romantic feelings for Jon at this point and can barely repress them. Jon has feelings for Dany as well, but unlike her, he can still repress them and hasn't shown them yet. Now, I'm not gonna delve deep into episode 6, since with all that's happened during episode 3,4,5 and that happens during episode 6, I'd say the emotional development between Dany an Jon makes 100% sense. Dany's feelings are obvious at this point (even if she tries to deflect them when Tyrion prods her), and when she flies north she is totally in love with Jon. Jon likewise finally cracks down in the end. Amazing what another near-death experience can do to your emotions right? Their feelings for eachother at this point makes sense; they have alot of things in common (que mandatory "including genes"-joke,). They've both had a long and arduous journey to get to this point. Both have followers who follow them, not out of fear, but out of respect and love. Both have strong feelings on how to rule for the betterment of the people. Both have been reborn in a way, and both have suffered greatly but managed to come back. Both are considered special by the people around them, and in eachother they meet a person who treats them like no one else has ever done before: Jon likes strong women, and Dany is by far the strongest (both in terms of willpower, determination and actual power) he's ever met. He likes that Dany, like himself, is willing to do things the hard way if it's the right way, and that she ultimately came to his aid when he needed it the most, even if she didn't have to. She put her money where her mouth is and he's clearly attracted to her and the stories surrounding her as well, but he won't admit it. Dany on the other hand is used to the fact that most strong men she meet either try to trample on her, take advantage of her, or simply care about her for her power and beauty. Que Jon Snow, elected King who treats her with nothing but respect, and as an absolute equal and who shares her view on ruling (people come first.) He also doesn't seem to care about her due to her power and beauty (unlike Daario who only cared about Dany because of her power and good looks). All of these are qualities that she finds intriguing. Jon pose a "challenge" for her in a whole new way; he won't submit but he won't relent. Then add the fact that Jon for some "mysterious" reason can pet and be near her dragons, which no other man has ever been able to and the attraction makes total sense. The culmination of their relation as of episode 6, and in my opinion the most beautiful thing in their relation so far, is how Jon metaphorically bends the knee in a situation where it's pointless for him to do so. This shows how much Jon actually loves and believes in her at this stage. He doesn't bend the knee out of a strategical advantage or in order to get her support anymore, he does it out of pure respect and love for a woman who was willing to risk everything in order to help and save him and his men, even if she didn't believe in him at first. Their love is mutual, beautiful, logical and not a single bit forced. By far the best romantic relation portrayed in this show so far. Jon is Ice, Dany is Fire, and this is the Song of Ice and Fire.

Spirited Away
Credit to @/bakugoukatsuki-rising for posting the original. I took a look at Audrey’s tweet of the interview with Horikoshi concerning his art for the exhibition, and immediately set out to watch the movie Spirited Away for context.
If you haven’t watched it, I highly recommend it. I was crying before the climax even happened.
When Horikoshi said to pay attention to Uraraka and Deku falling, I was confused. They’re obviously falling, and while there’s plenty of symbolism in the act of falling, I wasn’t convinced that it was everything that was going on here.
Horikoshi also said that this artwork took him the longest, and because of that, and the implication that this was inspired by a film, there was something tugging at my gut telling me there was more. So I sat down at 2am through a near 3 hour film, I wanted to know the context behind some of the things I saw.
I noticed some details in the work prior to watching the movie:
Uraraka is crying while smiling
Deku isn’t crying, which is a huge deal
They’re severely wounded and yet seem content
The world around them is completely intact
They both have floating quirks, and aren’t using them. They’re falling on purpose.
These details just weren’t adding up to me, I couldn’t explain it. Looking at this art work makes me want to cry, and I couldn’t even tell if I wanted to cry because I was sad or happy. It felt like a moment of mourning and acceptance, not loss.
And then I watched the movie.
Oh Horikoshi, you’re terrible at being subtle. The painting is supposed to be a direct reflection from a scene in the movie:
Spirited Away at its core is a movie about unconditional, endless love and generosity. Studio Ghibli films in general are an amazing way to explore the different facets of love that people are capable of.
There aren’t any immediate comparisons to make between the spirit world and the quirk society, there are completely different takeaways from these two settings. The same is applicable to the relationship between Kohaku/Chihiro and Izuchako.
Izuchako is a story about the most tragic form of unrequited love. A love that is difficult to exist not because it can’t be felt between them but because of the burden Izuku carries, and the promise Ochako made to herself.
On the flip side, Chihiro feels that she has always loved Kohaku, even before they met in the spirit world. Kohaku has also always loved her, because despite forgetting his own name, he never forgot Chihiro’a even after years had passed.
As individuals, the characters couldn’t be more different. Kohaku is a powerful lost spirit in search of learning the ways of Yubaba. Izuku was born powerless in a world full of superpowers. Kohaku appears to be cold and arrogant to those around him while caring on the inside. Izuku wears his heart on his sleeve, and openly cares about everyone he meets.
Chihiro is a young girl who was given everything she needed by her parents. Ochako grew up in poverty and picked up habits to ease the monetary burden on her parents.
So while their relationship and characters seem to be vastly different from each other, it certainly means:
There was something about the falling scene that compelled Horikoshi to draw Izuchako.
So what is the significance of this scene?
There are certainly many ways to symbolize the act of falling, but what was the context here?
Chihiro revealing Kohaku’s real name to him causes his dragon scales to scatter like petals, and they begin to fall from the sky together. Kohaku reaches out to her in his now human form and grasps her hands, and they share the story of how they met.
The falling here symbolizes freedom and celebration. Kohaku is perfectly capable of flying, but he takes a moment of complete joy, complete freedom, and shares that moment with Chihiro. They are not afraid of the world beneath them, Chihiro trusts Kohaku with her entire being, and Kohaku would never let Chihiro go. There was no reason to be afraid of falling.
The freedom here is that now Kohaku knows his real name, he’s gotten the power of his life back, and he can be freed from the spirit world. More than anything it solidifies that he and Chihiro will meet again someday.
And then, Chihiro says this:
I personally don’t believe that Chihiro was letting go of Haku in this moment. This was the consolidation of their love for each other. Chihiro always wanted to be reunited with her parents and go back to the human world. This was the moment they realized they’d be able to see each other again.
Later, when Kohaku promises they’d meet again and he tells her to walk away from the spirit world and not look back once, she listened. Her only chance to see him again was to turn back and look before she left, and while she almost did for a second, she forced herself not to. She trusted they would meet again, and left the spirit world without looking back.
The details I noticed before watching the movie clicked in my head.
In the Izuchako painting, the world around them is completely intact because it’s meant to be. It means the world is at peace in this moment. Or that it didn’t matter what was going on, but considering how much care was out into depicting such a perfectly untouched world makes me think it was meant to be seen as peaceful, especially how he painted the sky.
They are falling despite having the capability of flight because that moment belongs to them, and them only.
Their wounds are the physical manifestations of the scars they bear from their journey to become heroes.
And they’re content because:
It feels like Izuku is saying “It’s okay, I’m here.” And Uraraka is saying. “I’m so happy you are.”
In any case, this is just my interpretation of it. There are HUNDREDS of them all bearing equal weight: this could mean Uraraka letting go of her feelings just as much as it could mean them falling in love. There are people saying Chihiro was letting go of Kohaku because she was going to return to the human world, which is also possible. All of them, they’re all beautiful theories but this is the one I stick to because it feels right in my heart.
As for the reason I felt mourning, it was just my own bkdk heart breaking.

The music of Daenerys & Jon in S7E3
(this was written by someone on reddit, credit below) So to begin with this is my first post ever so I’m not sure if I’m doing it right (help me Lord of Light). But well yesterday a Spanish youtuber called Jordi Maquiavello posted a very interesting video analyzing the music of the last episode of GOT. He basically analyzes only the scenes of Jon & Daenerys in the video I saw, but he has other videos in his channel where he talks about more music of GOT. This post is going to be basically a rough general translation of that video bc I thought that maybe some redditors would want to hear about it, maybe add something to the discussion & honestly I have a lot of free time for one more week so here you have it.
Maquiavelo basically starts by explaining his work & how he loves analyzing music, at 1:30 is when his analysis starts, he says the scene starts w a parallelism between two old friends meaning Jon meets Tyrion & then he goes to remind us about the meeting between Ned & Robert in the first season. Then he mentions how one of the dragons flies close to Jon when he admits he’s not a Stark (I thought we all got that sign already). He continues mentioning the parallelisms between what Dany says to Jon (I ask you not to judge a daughter for the sins of her father) w what Jon says to the northerners when he says he’s not going to judge the new leaders of house Umber & Karstark by what their parents did. He then continues saying that those scenes remind us that maybe Dany & Jon are not so different after all & Davos is the one pointing that out. Later on he mentions the parallels w Rhaegar (the brother of Dany & father of Jon) & he also mentions the parallels of where Jon stands when he’s talking to Tyrion in Blackwater & when they’re together at the wall. At 3:32 is when he goes to analyze the music he believes that scene is crucial for both characters, bc it introduces a song he never recognized before (this dude knows all of the music of GOT by memory, I’m jelly, I only know the rains of Castemere -drops a sad tear-). He starts by talking about the parallelism between what Jon says to Dany (he doesn’t enjoy doing what he’s good at) w the scene where ser Barristan mentions that Rhaegar never liked to kill people. Then he talks about the theme between Jon & Dany that starts in the middle of the dragonglass scene. The theme of Jon & Dany is based in three chords (the dragon has three heads mofos, ok maybe not but I wanted to say that). He then says he’s confident that would be the official theme song for Dany & Jon, their theme starts at 5:05 just when Dany & Jon are reaching their first agreement. He then talks about how all the main couples in the show have their own themes, couples like Drogo & Dany or Jon & Ygritte. He says is interesting to notice that usually for the Dany or Jon scenes they use their official songs like My Watch Has Ended (song of Jon) but for this scene they decided to use the two songs of the first loves of Jon & Dany. That part starts at 5:57 where he talks about the official themes of the main couples. Love in the eyes (Danny & Drogo) & You know nothing (Ygritte & Jon). He then talks about the instruments they used for the first song (I don’t really understood that part bc he talked about an instrument I never heard before & I’m a native Spanish speaker, damn it). He says the song of Dany & Jon starts w a hint to that song (if you notice that part sounds while Dany starts offering Jon the chance of mining dragonglass) & then the song drops a hint to the theme of Jon & Ygritte (that part starts just when Jon asks her if she believes in the KN/ the timing of the song w the characters talking is awesome). He then says the song they use for Dany & Jon is not the same as the two first songs, but it’s based in some of the same chords to make references to them. He then explains his theory that the song could be a sign these characters are destined to be together (his words not mine, don’t shoot the messenger antis). He ends by saying he believes that song would be called Ice & Fire and it would be in the soundtrack of the new season.
Now this part is my own analysis not from Maquiavelo. As the youtuber mentions if there’s something consistent around that episode is that everything has parallelisms. Not only between Dany & Jon but also between everybody. Considering the freefolk already knows about the leaks from Lads & Frikidoctor, we’re 99% sure boatsex is going to happen. The boatsex scene according to Friki is supposed to be full of parallelisms & it points to Rhaegar & Lyanna. Now you can interpretate this as it parallels a tragic love story so it could have a sad ending for J & D. Or it parallels true love if your shipping heart wants to see that. My interpretation is that it parallels different endings for their love stories. Hear me out, if the song they use for BOATSEX is the song they used for the dragonglass scene (call it Ice & Fire for now), it would drop hints to their two first love stories (Dany w Drogo & Jon w Ygritte), those love stories didn’t have happy endings, they were tragic as well. The second parallel is w Rhaegar & Lyanna, the love story that started a war. Now a simple analysis could make you say well it means Dany & Jon are going to be tragic together as well. That’s one interpretation, I’m going to choose giving D & D the benefit of the doubt & say that maybe it means they are going to have a different ending that those 3 love stories. Why I think that? Bc they have chose to give us certain hints. One of them is what Tyrion tells to Jon, children are not their fathers & that’s something they keep bringing back as well. Tyrion is not Tywin, Dany is not Aerys (yes stop calling her mad queen, she’s not) & Jon chooses not to judge the Umbers & Karstarks for that same reason. History many times repeats itself, but many times we learn from our mistakes as well & sometimes we can change our own story. If Lyanna & Rhaegar’s story started a war, Dany & Jon’s story can be story that ends a war. If Dany & Drogo just like Jon & Ygritte had a tragic ending, maybe it means the ending of Dany & Jon is going to be different. Now before you start yelling at me that this is not Disney, I’m aware this is not going to be a story w the famous and everyone lived happily ever after. As GRRM said he wants a bittersweet ending, bittersweet doesn’t mean everyone dies & if you survive you’re never going to get over it (let’s hope we don’t end up dealing w emo characters in GOT like in Naruto). But it means like real life it has its highs & lows. You wouldn’t know how to appreciate the happy moments if you didn’t have the sad ones, so I’m sure there’s going to be a sense of loss in the ending. I think everyone knows GRRM has mentioned Lord of the Rings before, yes I know that ending is too happy for some of you, tbh I’m not sure myself if Dany & Jon would both even survive the war (I would like so bc both characters have suffered a lot). And even if they do it doesn’t mean they’re going to marry & have dragon babies together. I believe that if they do marry & the 7 Kingdoms stay as one, it would be a little of how was the marriage of Isabella of Castille & Ferdinand of Aragorn where they were both powerful rulers that didn’t agree all the time, but they were allies in the important things. But well that was my interpretation, maybe you guys have a different one. Btw English is not my mother language, so I’ve tried to check the grammar but I’m not sure if it’s perfect, hopefully you are not going to judge me so hard on it. That’s it, I wish you guys good fortune in the wars to come (PD: Jonerys stans if you mention this somewhere else please give credit where credit is due, to mr Maquiavelo who did all the hard work). Here’s the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9h4P3Nm5S4&t=467s
