They weren’t lying when they said healing isn’t linear. You can be going about your day and then suddenly…the reminder of that pain hits you all over again. It’s like phantom pain, almost. While you’ve moved on with your life, that wound will always be there. It’s healed enough to where it becomes a scar but yet, it’s still there. It lingers and resurfaces when you least expect it. A tidal wave. You feel it until it goes away. It can take seconds, minutes even, but it goes right back to where it belongs. Deep in the ocean, hidden in the depths of the sea. Surprise!
