Tae Young x black! reader

reader goes to meet taes (very judgemental) family and soon after they get to you, you guys leaves and tae makes it up to you. you're also a famous actor. (you play as Starr from The hate u give and as Athena from 911. you're not to old but not too young.) possible spoilers for the hate u give.

you grimaced nervously as your sweaty palms rubbed against your clothes. you were meeting taes family for the first time.

from what you've heard, he has 1 older brother, an older sister, 1 younger sister, and a younger brother and sister (who are twins). you were very anxious to meet them, plus their parents.

tae brought you out of your day dream as he kissed your cheek, telling you that you guys had arrived at his families house.

you let out a sigh, looking at the large, white house with mint green trims. the house was really nice, you must admit. you got out the car, hand laced with tae's as he walked around the car to where you were.

"you ready baby?" he questioned. you nodded your head slowly, still hesitant. you guys walked up to the front door, knocking.

you heard footsteps approaching the front door before it immediately swung open, revealing a young teenage girl. "Tae!" she exclaimed, wrapping your boyfriend up in a tight hug. he flashed her a signature smile and hugged her back.

"Hey Mai!" tae responded, glee painting his face.

"Mama! Tae and his girlfriend are here" Mai yelled into the house.

you heard more footsteps approaching the door, a short, old Asian woman coming. towards you guys, a taller Asian man with her, hot on her trail.

"Ah tae!" she said, grabbing taes cheeks, bringing him down to her face as she spoke quickly in Korean. she paid me absolutely no mind as she dragged tae inside the house. you awkwardly followed behind them, a few feet away from the 4 family members catching up.

they walked into a dining room, a table full of delicious smelling foods that graced it. taes mother ushered him to sit down to which he complied, making me do the same.

eventually, everyone sat down at the table, crowding it quickly. you sat across from taes parents as his oldest sister sat on her dad's right, as the brother sat on the mom's left.

the twins sat on taes right as Mai say down to my left. we sat in a brief silence before taes mother broke it.

"so tae... who's... this?" she said, giving me a disgusted look. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat.

"Uh mom, this is my girlfriend! y/n" he smiled down at me lovingly, making me smile back at him. his mother only raised an eyebrow, a disgusted look still on her face.

"I see..." she spoke. "so y/n. what do you work as?" she questioned.

"mom are you serious?! she's y/n l/n! the girl from the movie The hate U give that we watched together?" Mai said in disbelief, making you smile.

"oh..." his mother said, skeptically. "well you're part in that movie was very well done... except for when you started swinging that brush at the girl. that was highly unneeded." she finished.

"what do you mean? I had to prove a point on how black people get killed for having defenseless items on them being considered guns, which was what got portrayed in the movie. my 'bestfriend' got pulled over, reached into the car to get a hair brush and got shot for it being mistaken as a gun." I said in a very obvious tone of voice.

"it was still uncalled for. she was only being correct?" his mother spoke, looking down at her plate of food.

"excuse me?" I asked, very shocked. she nodded her head, still looking down at her plate.

"ma'am with all due respect she was incorrect because I don't see any other race being killed for simply existing. getting shot for holding a darn bottle of Arizona tea!" I said.

"Tae are you just going to listen to her talk like this?" I said in disbelief, looking over at him. he remained silent.

"don't bring my baby into this. tae tell her I'm correct!" his mother said intimidatingly.

tae looked drawn between me and his mother, still remaining silent. I scoffed. "really? is this how we feel" I said, shocked. I grabbed my stuff and walked out to the car.

I sat on my phone, waiting for tae to come out so we could go home, possibly stopping somewhere for me to get food since I didn't get the chance to eat.

tae pov

"mom what was that for?" I heard my older sister say.

I heard my siblings agree with my older sister, berating her for her words towards my girlfriend. then Mai turned to me.

"You too Tae! you watched mom be rude to y/n and you just let her speak to her that way? you heard the way she was being insensitive towards her and her race! and you just let her speak to her like that?!" she yelled.

"you better go and apologize before I do something you'll regret" she threatened. when I thought about it, she was right. mom gave me an ultimatum between her and y/n and I was slowly leaning to y/n because of how she never pursued mom to act this way.

"their right mom. y/n didn't do anything and you were just being down right rude." I said, standing up. without uttering another word, I walked out the house with my belongings, walking to the car where y/n was seated.
