saw this incredible betta fish at the zoo shop today, with pale yellow and charcoal fins, like half-burnt old paper... apparently that colour variety is called "mustard". if i added him to the betta i already own they'd kill each other BUT :(((((

i never used to appreciate bettas because i thought they 're just """toys"""" for people who can't """commit to real fish""""" but now that i know bettas as just as real as anything else and actually thrive in real aquariums, i like them a lot. they're the poor little meow meows of aquarium fish. pathetic fish kittens in need of a good home. little darlings. little sweethearts with an insatiable thirst for violence. by giving them enough space, shadowy shelter, and appropriate water conditions, i can fix them
