Probably a hot take, but mascot horror is more important than y’all give it credit for.

Y’all elitists are so up in arms about media being “cheap kiddie trash” that you’re forgetting that KIDS LOVE SCARY SHIT. There’s a damn good reason why Goosebumps was (and still is!!!) so popular and why indie horror games tend to attract child audiences! There’s a whole-ass MARKET for scary books and TV shows suitable for kids, so why aren’t they allowed to have mildly spooky video games without a bunch of grown-ass adults bitching and moaning about how “THE ENTIRE HORROR GENRE IS DEAD AND LAME-ASS KIDDIE MASCOTS KILLED IT”??? It’s either that or letting the kids play the games Y’ALL like, and I doubt that leaving a 9 year old alone with Outlast would lead to anything good.

"Uthman... Uthman. BANBAN!!!"

Banban startled wake up from his unconsciousness with rapid breathing. He looked around to find himself alone at the hall place. Banban also realized that he was covered bleeding green blood and was not wearing both party hats which caused him to remember what had happened.

"Player..."

He tried to get up but felt deep pain in his body made him coughing givanium as a result of Jumbo Josh's punch. Slowly he finally able to stand up and start to walk slowly all the way to the down floor.

In a long time, he finally reached the kingdom and met the queen Bouncelia.

"Glad to see you, queen..."

"My goodness, you're Ban- I mean Uthman, right? What happened to you that you're covered in blood like this?"

"It's nothing... Just a small wound..."

"No, that's more than small wound! You need to be treated at the infirmary so that you can get well soon. You can sit there any longer."

"Thank you your majesty..."

"As a sign of honor, I announce you to become one of my kingdom citizens out of 5!"

Banban realized something. Five citizens? Then he asked the queen a question.

"Did someone new come to your kingdom today?"

"Yes the parent came here to find his children but the problem with the elevator needs to be fixed so now he and Sheriff are going to look for elevator parts."

"Oh.. if he comes back here can you tell him to come see me? I know him and I want to talk to him."

"Okay, I'll tell him when he comes back. Now you can go rest first"

"Thank you..." Banban continued towards the infirmary to treat his wounds. He wiped his blood and treated wound carefully then he lay on the patient's bed. He been thought about how to talk to the player soon with feeling guilty after what he had done to the player while holding his sharp horn. Will he be trusted by the player? Thinking about this caused him to wake up from his laying and sit down because he's feeling uneasy.

After some time, he heard the door open from behind causing him to shiver a little because he knew who opened the door. It was the player who came to meet him. Banban talked first: (from dialogue "When the queen mentioned.." to "I want to help you to find elevator parts..." like that??) then he added slowly said while holding his horn and more bowed to not show his regretting and guilt face.

"So... I'm so sorry for what I've done to you before... You don't have to forgive me... I understand it..."

Both of them were silent for a moment. But suddenly Banban felt his horn covered with the party hats. The player found the hats during the journey and gave them to Banban because the player saw that he was trying to hide his horn. Banban was shocked by the player's action. Then he said hesitantly.

"I.. I just need to rest for a bit and I will see you at whatever station is. You can go anywhere first."

Then the player left the infirmary leaving Banban alone. Banban was silent again but this time he felt tears running down his cheeks. He feels more and more guilty but grateful because the player seems to trust him even though he almost wants to kill the player. With full determination, he will help the player to get their children back.

THE END

Here we go, this is my idea to what happened to Banban after the fight. Thanks to the art, the idea seems to be looking good. About the party hats, I thought it supposed to be gone when Banban turn into devil so he will need another new party hats. Hope you guys enjoy this little angst of Banban 😉✌️

GARTEN OF BANBAN REWRITE: As it was.

Giggles and Bugs loved their little amphibian friend. Even through the abuse they suffered by the hands of the queen, they still found joy in each other's company. Sometimes, Toady would beg for Gigglebug to plead to the Queen to unpunish them. But, they just couldn't excuse the queen for killing their family. Those children didn't deserve to be separated from their parents. They were just setting them free. If only they were more careful. Giggles wanted to make her bleed, Bugs wanted to make her scream, but even with these differences, they wanted to same thing. They wanted to make the queen suffer just like how she made their family suffer, how she made their mother cry, how she made their father cough blood, how she made their baby sister go through so much pain and agony, and most of all, how she made them suffer by forcing them watch their families agony. She made them watch. Every. Single. Moment. Because being sewn together wasn't enough for the queen. And after it was over, she locked them away in the dungeon. The same one the children they freed were locked up in. They parents were dead, their sister was separated from them, and they're friend expected them to forgive the queen. No. They weren't going to forgive her. Not now, not ever. Gigglebug escaped their prison and created a resistance, people who had similar beliefs to Gigglebug. They have a plan, but they need someone with wings. Their own wings were too damaged and weak from the Queen's abuse and torture. Then they had an idea.

That angel looks useful enough.

Most of its just shitty games thrown together to sell merch to kids with the same theme of "trapped in building with childhood bs uh oh it's following you run"

Security breach semi falls into that category, but it's like, an ok game

"Constant pain? I-- Uthman, I had no idea. I'm so sorry." It's obvious by the alarm in Steven's voice and expression that he really hadn't been aware. The majority of the actual science going into the mascots is something he neither knows nor understands, and when it comes to things like physical side-effects that he can't see with his own eyes, he's almost completely in the dark.

"...that's horrible." He's sure the scientists are doing everything they can, but still. That's kind of a big deal, and Bell is frustrated on the Cases' behalf that things have gone so wrong.

"If there's anything I can do--" It's an empty offer. Steven surely can't provide anything for the pain that hasn't been tried already.

"...right..." Steve chews at his lip, pausing to take a deep breath. "It's not fair of them to ask that of you. Like I said, I'll... talk to them." He's not sure how seriously his reports on Banban's mental health are taken, but he always does his best to describe the potential benefits of humoring the mascot. No, not humoring-- of taking the time to see things from his perspective.

"Is everything okay?" He's not sure whether or not he should withdraw his hand. Banban's fixed expression can be hard to read at times, but it's obvious that he hadn't been expecting the touch. Whatever's going on in the Case's mind, though, Steven thinks this might be a good thing; verbally, at least, Banban isn't outright denying that he's inhuman right now. That's progress! That's a step towards acceptance.

"Exactly!" Steven says, managing a bright smile. He gives the paw a reassuring squeeze, loosening his grip but not letting go completely so Banban can choose for himself whether or not to end their contact.

"I can only imagine how hard this has all been. But... if anyone can figure it out, it's you. I really believe that. I mean, in some ways, you're breaking new scientific ground every day, just being yourself!" Maybe he's going a little overboard.

He coughs, backtracking.

"I-- um. Oh, right, I was going to ask-- is there anything you want me to bring you next time? I was thinking more books, but maybe I can find something to make you more comfortable? For-- the pain."

"I mean—" He makes the familiar motion of running his hands through his hair. There's fur on top, but it's not quite as voluminous as a head of hair would be. "I know what they were checking for. They were making sure the Givanium is running through my system fine. It's delicate, they need to make sure everything works periodically before they can say their replication of circulation is functional." A pause.

"And... ah, they're trying to see if they can find a clue as to why the Cases... and I, are in constant pain." He can't recall if he told Steven about that, or if anyone else would have. He's here to "socialize" with him, not monitor his physical health.

"I guess I'm just not sure... why they want me to stop..." He thinks on how to word this. He gestures aimlessly. "Acting like I was someone else before. I'm not Banban, I'm still Uthman—I was on the science team as recent as three months ago. I can pretend, but that's how it is. Something went wrong, clearly." He's right about that. He knows the truth; someone as smart as him would. He just doesn't want to acknowledge it.

He's quiet for a moment, listening to him prattle on about Fritz and intentionally distracting himself with it. He's sincerely glad he could relieve his worries, at least. If only someone could do the same for him. Tell him that he's real.

He tries to smiles warmly back. "No problem, Mr. Bell. Yeah, a pet is a huge commitment—I'm sure there's books he could read about that to understand why that is, too. Or if it just encourages him to ask more, maybe he could read about wild dogs—" He's interrupted by the touch. His eyes visibly widen, he almost looks startled.

He stares down at their hands.

Red. It's red. It's a paw. Not a hand. You know. You're looking at it. Stop pretending. Stop

A practiced, careful breath is taken in, and he averts his eyes, focusing instead on the sensation. He can't remember how long it's been since he was touched other than by other doctors to perform tests. He could honestly cry right now. It's embarrassing.

But, thankfully, he doesn't even have tear ducts.

He can still hear Mr. Bell talk through his raging mind. Telling him the benefits of this situation. He's right. He should look at the bright side of things. He's right. "...Yeah... I suppose that's right. It's what I ultimately wanted. This doesn't change that." His tone is careful. A doctor knows how to keep emotion out of their voice.

But his tail is tucked. A sign of distress in animals, like dogs. He can't even feel it.

I for one would love to hear more about this discarded pile of Pan Statues you mentioned in some tags. Did it Lilly date to a Christian Conversion in the region? Or some other great shift? Did the people in that region somehow resist? I remember reading that Pan and Hermes were once the same deity that split, if that’s related.

from what I remember, there wasn't a great shift around when the statues were dated to

my professor said the interpretation they had of where they were was that they were discarded after use but weren't destroyed because they were religious symbols so thats how the pan statue pile came to be

it’s been a hot minute since i really wrote anything beyond like random notes for fics in the notes app on my phone but i do have a short lil thing that i may or may not finish, who knows. last edit on this was in july lol

Banri doesn't get sick. Living life on super ultra easy mode has its perks, afterall. Hyodo, on the other hand, has kept him up for two nights in a row because he refuses to admit that he's sick and even if he would, there's no way in hell he'll take medicine to get better. It's not sweet enough.

He's tempted to go sleep in Itaru's room, but he does actually want to sleep tonight, not stay up gaming. Hyodo coughs from across the room and Banri groans, sliding his head under his pillow. He'd tell Hyodo to shut up already, but he'd tried that earlier and he'd barely received a response through the coughing. At this rate, he might actually end up getting sick because of Hyodo, and there'll be hell to pay if he does. 

Every time he nearly falls asleep, there's yet another fit of coughing and sniffling. He knows it's much worse for Hyodo, but that shouldn't mean he has to suffer. He opens up his phone, finally, and sees that it's just after one in the morning. Inconvenient, but the perfect time to check on all his mobile games. While he's completing all of the daily quests and making as much progress as possible on the weekly and monthly ones, he gets a message from Itaru.

taruchi: weren't you going to bed early tonight?

NEO: i wanted to NEO: but fucking Hyodo NEO: and his fucking cough

taruchi: lol taruchi: try not to kill him in his sleep

NEO: he's not sleeping, so

taruchi: thats ur takeaway?

Banri rolls his eyes and sets his phone back down. It'll take a bit for his stamina to restore again, so he may as well try to sleep again. Hyodo seems to have fallen blissfully silent, and he's hoping it'll last long enough for him to fall asleep.

The next thing he hears is the sound of his alarm going off. Apparently Hyodo gets to live to see another day. He lets it ring a little longer than he usually would because Hyodo isn't a morning person and waits until the last minute to get up because fuck Hyodo.

"Turn that thing off, will ya?" Hyodo grumbles, voice rough and nearly gone.

"Sorry, what was that?" Banri teases, letting his alarm continue to ring. A pillow comes flying at him, but he bats it away with a laugh. "Your fault for keeping me up so late, you know."

"I can't help that I'm- that I was coughing last night!" Hyodo yells, or, tries to. The crack in his voice at the end voids any semblance of intimidation he may have had. And really, how can Banri not laugh at that? "Shut the hell up!"

Banri finally silences his alarm and climbs down the ladder of his bed. Hyodo's pulled out his own phone and taps at it a bit before getting up.

"You're not seriously planning on going to school today, are you?" 

Hyodo stares at him in confusion. "Where else would I go?"
