Intermediate Challenge #25
I've decided to drop going in order and just do things how I want to do them during the fair, so I'm jumping ahead to this challenge: What, in my opinion, the biggest misconception within the spirit keeping community is. I don't want to ruffle feathers but do want to challenge a few commonly accepted ideas within this branch of the Spirit Keeping community and encourage you to think about them yourself as well. I'm also not trying to say that anyone's experiences have been falsified or exaggerated, spirits are as separate and individual as any other entities with a heart and mind of their own would be. They love, hate and tolerate different things, because anyone able to choose anything has a preference for all different things. BUT, keep in mind, spirits ARE NO LONGER ALIVE. They can't (in my opinion and experience) be hurt by the wrong food offerings, which they themselves choose to partake in in the first place and can reject. They shouldn't, in theory, be suffering from debilitating conditions that us living individuals have during life. They are dead. They can change astral form/themselves. They aren't subject to the physical limitations and errors that occur in our bodies and brains. Even if they CHOOSE to remain the same in death as they did in life, that is a choice and not a limitation. But finally, most importantly, In my opinion, They don't NEED you to take care of them. Now please don't get me wrong, this does not mean it is acceptable to be a horrible disrespectful person to your spirit companion!! You have entered into a sort of mutually beneficial "contract" with them, and the conditions of that contract vary per type of companionship. Generally spirit friends work as any other friends would, you both enjoy each other's company so you stick around together and seek out a binding for better "reception" between one another, if you will. But there can be some obligations for different spirit friends, associates, teachers or guides too, that you decide together up front before getting into a relationship. If your agreements you both decide to spend 3 hours per day together you should honor that. If you agree to provide regular offerings in exchange for healings/teaching you shouldn't drop the ball! But there's a big difference between decided upon agreements and taking care of/thinking of spirits as though they are living beings DEPENDENT on your care. Think about it like this: you are there for your close friends, you support them in times of need and enjoy spending time with them and sharing part of your life together. But your friend doesn't look at you as their provider, or shouldn't. Especially not a friend who has already lived one or many lifetimes, has the ability to go anywhere/be anything, has no need for basic physical needs and generally knows and understands a LOT more about the universe and what's in it than you are able aware of while still living. That's a spirit. If anything, you need far more "taking care of" than the spirit, as you are the more vulnerable and inexperienced of the two of you. This is different for entities and for spirits of young children, though, as a side note. I'd say there's some more things to consider and be aware of/take care of in these cases than that of spirits. Also, some spirits can have ties to the physical that should be respected, like if one attaches to physical beings to "feed" off energy and isn't provided that energy in an appropriate form, that can be a problem. But these cases aren't the norm and so I won't focus on them here, just be aware that they're different and do/might require some care. Anyway you might be wondering why it really matters, why not just let people act as though they are essentially the parents of their spirit companions? And I think that it's an issue for two reasons. Number one is that, although spirits are usually far more mature and well rounded than we are and won't get offended at something so kindhearted (albeit misdirected), it is sort of belittling to treat a spirit like they are incapable of taking care of themselves. If they come to you asking for assistance/certain things though you should definitely help them by all means (if it doesn't harm you)! Second and most importantly is the incredible amount of stress people put on themselves to provide top of the line service 100% of the time to their companion. Guys. They aren't alive. They presumably have a lot of free time. It's ok to take a day/week/month off from spirit contact or keeping. Maybe let them know first but any spirit who leaves you permanently because you need time for whatever is a JERK in the first place and you don't need to be friends with someone like that (unless it's a species/individual who needs that time and you've agreed to provide it). It's ok to only provide offerings when you're truly able to. It's ok to miss a nightly candle lighting or full moon celebration or whatever it may be. You are living. You are delicate. You need things and have way less time. Take care of yourself before you try to take care of a spirit. They understand (or should understand) and aren't going to flip out at you for doing it (or shouldn't at least don't be friends with jerks have standards the same way you would for live human friends you are no doormat). @magickalmenagerie

It’s that time of year again! Christmas jumpers, office parties, glitter and mistletoe! 🕺🎉🍺 Enjoy your festive build up at The Woodman, but don’t forget to drink responsibly and don’t drink and drive. We serve plenty of types of soft drinks and even non alcoholic beer, tea or coffee if you are the designated driver! Equally, if you are lucky enough to look under 25, ensure you bring out some photo ID, just in case! We don’t like to course offence, but refusal often does. 👍😎🎄🍻 #lovedurham #lovechristmas #drinkresponsibly #challenge25 @admiral_taverns @thisisdurham @durham @durhambid @visitdurham (at The Woodman Inn - Durham) https://www.instagram.com/p/BrVJLQyAZor/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1eh8zy0wlwog6

Title: run run run Author: Roy/ flappergirl Responding to challenge #: 25 Word Count: 300 Characters: Zayn, ofc from timetravel au drabble challenge Rating: - Warnings: I cannot stop writing this. Summary: I have accidentally created a whole world, I blame you. Also robots die.
"Look at this experience as an adventure!" she said, as they both dived behind a building.
"Yeah," he muttered, "Shame we're both going to die though."
"You're so pessimistic," she groused, leaning over his head to peek at the Nazis currently shooting at them, "You said you wanted to see some history. It doesn't get any more historic - Earth, Germany, 1941!"
"During the second world war, Nazi Germany tends to get a bit anti people with British accents. You're even wearing a future war suit that reads United Kingdom of Britannia. This is magnificent, you're going to get shot and I'm going to have to stay here until they find the half British Muslim and nail me a wall before torturing me."
"You're so morbid! Anyway, if I die, you won't be stuck here. It's taken care of."
He grabbed her shoulders, forcing her to face him. "What?"
She didn't quite meet his eyes. "I'm not saying I'm dying now. I'm saying, in case it happens, and we're not in your time."
"Why...why would you die?" he demanded, and both of them ignored the desperation in his voice.
She smiled. "Don't pretend you haven't noticed it. Look at me. My data holders are chipping, I'm a rubbish Time Agent. I keep running away to meet you, and the other day I cried. I'm a terrible human, and an even worse android."
"You're a great android," he told her, because he was willing it to be true.
"But still a rubbish human, hm?"
He's an international pop star and she's a Time Agent visiting in Nazi Germany, but there wasn't enough incredible in the world to make the answer to her question less hurtful - unless they don't answer it.
"So," he says instead, "Let's run for our lives?"
And they do.
