music preference (Tokyo Debunker)
included characters: all of em
rating: SFW
warnings: as written by someone who only listens to fall out boy. this is just hc of course and not purely canonical! If anything is wrong, sorry!!
I'm also working on a Taiga fic okay I promise!!!
Jin
Canonically classical piano music. Might have a few operatic songs. Really not varied and considers most modern music to be senseless noise. Puts up with whatever you want to listen to as long as he doesn't hate it too much, and maybe you can broaden his preferences…maybe. Slowly.
Tohma
He can handle and appreciate classical but it's not his favorite. He does like more industrial, rap, and hip hop type songs, the exact type that Jin would call senseless noise. He's doing his little paperwork in his little monocle and he's listening to Tupac.
Kaito
Varied!!! I don't think he gives himself enough credit for the variety of music he listens to and enjoys. Knows and likes popular and viral music, but also if you're like hey this song from 2003? This song from 1987? His song from 1954? He probably knows it. He doesn't love all of them and he pretends to only Like the “acceptable” genres and new things, but I think you could play smth old af and he'd be like oh yeah my gran loved this- and he would know it.
Lucas
Guy who admits to not knowing much music. Only the absolute most popular songs he knows, and even then, it's like the catchiest bit or the chorus like babe is NOT listening to music that often. Might have like An Album that he knows well and enjoys but like it would be very limited. Share things with him! He's open minded enough to learn more.
Alan
Another “I don't listen to much music” guy but I think he knows like dad rock from the 2000’s. I don't think he necessarily loves it, he just recognizes it and if he wants to listen to music for some reason, well, Three Days Grace is there and he knows how to type that into yourtube (maybe. Maybe he has to ask Leo for help. Maybe Leo pulls up something completely different. Probably.)
Leo
A pop music enjoyer. Brat summer Twink. Olivia Rodrigo fan. Also likes dance and club music and has a preference based on country of origin. Does NOT like Vocaloid or Nightcore or probably even trance and house music of the 2000’s. He's like ew that old person music?? What am I, 30??? Very opinionated and a song he loved two months ago, now he's like that's absolute trash lmao why would I like that?? Impossible to keep up with his taste.
Sho
Listens to whatever Leo puts on, he's not a stranger to the club, but I feel like has some secret artists and genres he likes that he won't admit to under pain of torture. Like maybe he likes country or kpop or something and he's like God I can't let Leo know this because I'll never hear the end of it. But he listens to it while he's at his food truck.
Haru
Can you not imagine him enjoying a good Cher song? Some Abba? 70’s-90’s I think is like on lock for him. He's turning up, he's blessing the rains down in Africa. He knows Destiny's Child probably. Sometimes he'll be like oh yeah I know new music, like what was that song? Huh? Toxic by Britney Spears came out in 2003? Guess I don't know new music than haha!!
Towa
Hes like ~~~~!!! ~~! (This shit fucks) Listening to birdsong and the bubbling creek. But he's also not immune to A Thousand Years by Christina Perri. He likes love songs! Mostly sweet love songs, not tragic or lost loved ones (probably no Adele). He will enjoy Haru's music as well, but only for Haru's sake.
Ren
Like lofi beats to chill and study to. Movie and game soundtracks but none of the fun ones. He's NOT listening to Decode from the hit movie Twilight and he NOT enjoying Megalovania from Undertale. He would relent to the To The Moon soundtrack and other indie game osts (if not because he enjoys them then to be superior in his Niche tastes).
Taiga
His music taste goes like this:
If you play something he likes, he allows it.
If you play something he doesn't like, he says turn that shit off.
If you ask him what he likes/wants to hear, he's like ….that one song, it's like duh duh dun…no? Whatever. And he gives up.
Romeo
Let me be real with you. You will not know his favorite bands. He doesn't expect you to know his favorite bands. His favorite bands are like experimental bands from Europe who release a song only on the new moon and it's behind an ARG to get to and hear and there's only 5 physical copies of their VINYL ever made.
He also endures whatever Haru, Rui, and Leo listen to and complains only when absolutely necessary.
Ritsu
i cannot take him seriously. like the little Einstein’s theme?? Jokingggg. 😐. He probably doesn't listen to much music, probably only things he remembers from childhood, and then instrumental things occasionally but claims it's mostly just too much of a distraction. He listens to like audio recordings of law books and court cases.
Subaru
I don't know I just think he secretly likes 80’s ballads and girl bands. He likes more traditional music, instrumentals, opera and musical music, and probably can appreciate even like true classic jazz music. He has a lot of patience and tolerance and goodness in his heart and will listen to just about anything and be able to appreciate it, but if it's his choice, he is probably not listening to noise metal.
Haku
Okay Varied. Okay six thousand songs on his playlist and that's just one playlist. He just can't stand repeating the same songs over and over so he listens to anything and everything. He doesn't always remember every song that well, because there are so many and he doesn't listen to every single one daily, but there's a good chance if you know a song, he has it somewhere.
Zenji
Like Haku! He does appreciate traditional Japanese music and instruments, but he is an art lover first and foremost and will have something positive to say about anything you let him listen to. He and Haku are probably like sitting around going from YT recommended song one after the other and just being like oh yeah this Swedish dance pop is good, yes the Mongolian throat singing is good too.
Ed
VARIED but he also goes “ah, a song from before you time…I hope you'll appreciate it,” and puts on Megan Thee Stallion and listens like it's Vivaldi. He's like these Gregorian monks chanting are so musical. This bardic interpretation of Hips Don't Lie goes hard as the kids say. Blue by Eiffel 65.
Rui
Not immune to boy bands and girl bands. He likes upbeat things! He might dress goth and live in the goth house but his soul is glittery pink. He listens to a variety overall, but isn't very into anything like screamo or heavy metal. He gets bored listening to anything too slow and level. He, like Romeo, will listen to Haru's music, but unlike Romeo, he will sing along.
Lyca
Doesn't know much music! Likes whatever Subaru likes, he guesses. Doesn't like some of the songs Rui or Ed plays but those are just random misses on a spinning dartboard because they could be anything. He's figuring it out and will listen to anything you want to play for him!
Yuri
He does not like classical music as much as he claims to. He's like yeah yeah, Beethoven, that's top tier…obviously… (bored out of his mind). Guy who NEEDS to listen to to like. Russian hardstyle and Slavic dance music but he won't. He deprives himself.
Jiro
Listen to me. I wrote all of these because of Jiro. Closer by Nine Inch Nails. Bauhaus. Type O Negative. I'm SAYING he listens to goth and more gothic rock music and you KNOW if Yuri pulls his headphones out to yell at him, he just hears Tear You Apart by She Wants Revenge and he's like… I don't want to talk to anymore I changed my mind stop listening to freaky goth music. He also can hear like a biwa or other traditional instruments and feel comforted and familiar with them, even if he doesn't know why.

hey frank, is there anything you like to get up to in the late night/early morning? I could use some suggestions
Frank, is there anything you like to get up to in the late night / early morning? I could use some suggestions.
Real answer: keeping myself awake just in case I need to answer any other nighttime asks that may come in. (Don't worry, I don't actually have people who want to ask me late night/early morning questions, I just want to be sure I'll see the message)
Suggestion: as an alternative to just staying up in bed, go for a walk. Go for a walk through the dark quiet streets. The air will feel fresh and pure, the sky will be vast and wonderful. Go for a walk while listening to some sort of relaxing background music. I recommend an 80s remix of the Megalovania OST, available here. Make sure to wear something you feel comfortable wearing, something that fits your sense of style. Do not overdress, as you may sweat. Do not underdress, as you may be cold.
If you wear glasses, consider switching to some form of contact lenses. Switching to contact lens brand right before going on a walk is a good time to switch brands if you're feeling impulsive. You can always stop at a 7-11 or convenience store to buy a new pair or even a new pair for the first time. All your vision should be clear, no matter which lenses you go for.
Suggestion (see above, but longer): staying up to answer asks is a bad idea, because you will almost always need to sleep even if you want to wake up feeling refreshed. Because of this, if you are going to stay up late, you should avoid making concrete plans, because the plans are likely to fall through if you can't get up in time to accomplish them. Instead, focus on the big picture. Keep yourself awake so that if you have to get up early, you can decide what you want to do when you wake up, and then put the big plan into action. Maybe you want to do something like "go for a walk," or "work on the big project you've been procrastinating on for 5 hours." Maybe you want to go to a location and simply observe or do nothing for an hour or two. Whatever. The point is to make something general and open-ended, where you can actually complete it if you have to, rather than something concrete like "go read this Wikipedia article."

ok so i made a playlist for wonderland
Listen to the whole thing on youtube here
Song list and some notes on specific tracks below. I wanted to tie in the themes of video gamey music, pop, hyperpop, and metalcore to create the vibe of wonderland while also moving through the journey of the arc and telling the story through the songs! It’s been a fun little project and I’m really happy with the result.
Wonderland: Round One- The Suffering Game OST
Death By Glamour- Undertale OST
-this one is basically the alternate title for this arc. also how could we not open with this to accomany our vogue elves?
Kill V. Maim- Grimes
-if you don’t like grimes because of the way she is (valid) you get a multifaceted approach to suffering in this playlist
FIGHT! Flyday Chinatown- Aests
-a neat summarization of the game space dynamic
Unite Synchronization- Homestuck OST
-i couldn’t not put some homestuck music in here because it fits so well with the video game electronic sound. also, this one is very teamwork oriented. they’re in the monster factory working together :)
Doritos & Fritos- 100 gecs
Scream (feat. ARISTOPHANES)- Grimes
-its the suffering game! here we start sonically heading toward the darker aspects of wonderland
KILL ALL PREDATORS (feat. Zand)- Banshee
-“messed up? oh you wanna see messed up?” ... washing machine (and the rest of it all)
Wonderland: Round Two- The Suffering Game OST
Immaterial- Sophie
-“without my legs or my hair, without my genes or my blood, with no name and with no type of story, where do i live? tell me where do i exist?” the sacrifice wheel...
Mos Thoser- food house, Gupi & Fraxiom
-“POV: you’re an icon cause you’re me. think about how many people know they’re gay because of me” in the heart attack game. he’s taako? from TV?
Tobira wo Akete- ANZA
-by contrast to the first round this round is significantly less draining, we have the bonus round and the easy version of heart attack. things reset to not quite zero but a comfortable level of stability.
Money- That Poppy
-again, if you don’t like poppy because of the way she is, you get extra suffering for free
Sburban Reversal- Homestuck OST
-we start to see the glitches!! things are not what they seem...
Bite Your Teeth- Poppy
-did you forget this was the suffering game? it’s been a nice respite.
Wonderland: Round Three- The Suffering Game OST
Megalovania- Undertale OST
-boss rush! also, also this playlist would be NOTHING without megalovania.
Beautiful, Dirty, Rich- Lady Gaga
Phonky Town- Playaphonk
-this ones depression phonk
Pink Whitney- Scene Queen
Haunted- Laura Les
-POV: you’re Lup inside the umbrella
Death of a Predator- Banshee
-from the first note of this song you can tell that we’re in the endgame. it hurts now.
BLOODMONEY- Poppy
-”I now know what it feels like to have my soul ripped out from my body”... self explanatory
Black Hole - Green Sun- Homestuck OST
-arms outstretched through the destruction of wonderland exists here as one slow motion battle. everything happens at once. the guitar is mournful as the boys fight like theyve never fought before. everything hurts.
Waking Up In Vegas- Katy Perry
-wonderland is gone. the contestants emerge in a daze, blinking in the sunlight. it’s overcast in the clearing of the felicity wilds, but still so bright. how long were they playing? how long were they trapped? no one seems to remember.

Audio description:
An edited version of a scene at the end of MAG 80 that replaces the brutal pipe murder sounds. It goes
Leitner: You of all people should want to stop them! Elias: And we will. But I don’t think we’ll need your help. Leitner: And what’s he going to think when he gets back? Elias: Well, he was always going to need to fly the nest at some point. Go out and see the world for himself. Leitner: He might die. Elias: It’s always a danger. Almost always. Leitner: Elias, it doesn’t have to be like – [repeated sounds of hitting with an hollow PVC pipe] [repeated rubber ball squeaks] [sound of something being put on ground] [door opens] [faint sound of “Megalovania” from the Undertale OST playing]
first and worst contribution to the TMA fandom

my music sucks- a dissection
hiya from elle~
today im hopefully further my understanding of my flaws and musical talent , im going to be showing this off to a few of the talented musicians that i know , if you see this and youre not a musician , u probably wont get anything out of this ,,, but feel free to spend hours reading this it totally wont fuel my ego
'Go ahead, put anything' they said...
so , my latest track intended for an rpgmaker game i am 'working' on , is ,, well its pretty good , its light , friendly but still uneasy , a great fit for the game and sequence this will play , it harkens back to undertales fallen down track , without feeling derivative ,, so its got a nice genuine nostalgic feel for some
HOWEVER
it doesnt get to escape my issues i have with all my tracks , the melody is repeated throughout every measure ,, the chord progression is just 2 or 4 notes in either major or minor scale
every single track i make has this same , almost template , that i end up falling into , its an annoying rut and has led to me feeling disappointed in my music and generally unhappy with it , especially as im only really able to create one "type" of song
i would describe my melodies ( and generally any kind of series of notes ) as like a rolling hill , what goes up must come down after half a measure ,,
pictured below , strings section
pictured below , bass for second movement
see how it all goes up and then comes down ? all neatly within that measure ?
thats my issue
i dont really know where this habit has developed from but its tanking my ability to craft "unique" or even just "good" melodies
this track gets away a lot better with masking this habit but it still suffers from it and the 4 note chord "progression"
generally every song i would say falls into a single overarching flaw i cannot seem to deviate from , every song has the following
-melody -chord progression -bass -drums
and when i do deviate from these things ,, its not usually because im doing something else , its because im simply NOT including them , instead of how songs usually are , i dont know how to describe the issue in greater detail than that , but i think it stems from a general lack of music theory understanding
now , lets tackle the shitshow of a song i made before attempting to make something unique with The Light
this song has a MUCH more obvious set of flaws ,,, an awful melody , bland and generic chords , uninspired drums , bad 'second section'
it all stems from where the majority of my early musical development ( and hence most of my music has built from the foundations of )
UNDERTALE OST - 100 MEGALOVANIA by Toby Fox
nearly every single song i created was a remix/new melody of megalovania , it was all VERY generic ,,, and not that great
but you see , that has crippled me ever since i started making original songs , as i cant seem to strive too far without "pushing" boundaries and expectations that have been set for me by megalovania , i cant seem to escape the style , and hence my songs like megalovania ,, are GREAT , theyre amazing megalovania remixes ! i mean check out my soundcloud and take a look at my latest one "this could've been avoided." , the arts great , the songs great , it includes something i like thats unique ( a keychange ) along with incorporating sections from other songs and throwbacks to them , while doing something new and fresh !
but a megalovania remix ,,, well its not exactly going to be a good foundation for a calm area theme in COTV ,,
thats where im stuck right now
the past , and my knowledge only stretches so far
not only are my melodies hills , but i am at one that i must conquer ,,,
so lets get onto some of the more pervasive issues with my songs
Drums
my drums are usually open close open close ( like battle against a true heros hi hats ) , with crashes every measure or two , like megalovania and my drum patterns are typically just kick snare kick snare , for ,,, just about every track , with just some slight tweaking ,
in my head , after a kick beat comes a snare beat , each beat can be cut up slightly if the tracks double time and hence can have double kicks or snares or the such , but a snare always comes after a kick , and i cant seem to do it in any other way unless i DONT have a snare , and its just a build up type of thing
Chords
my chords are usually built up of four notes , lets refer to them in the simplest terms
my general chords are essentially
[A] [B] [A] [C]
whether its [D] [E] [D] [C#] or something else entirely , the third chord is usually the first
now this in and of itself is not a flaw or an issue , but it gets unoriginal and repetitive , and it bothers me because i cant then create something that feels 'fresh'
Melody
melodies typically break down into a measure of four variations ( unless its in 3/4 , in which case three variations ) of one 'catchy' melody , which is , again , okay , but stale after so many tracks suffer from it
like i said as well , theyre typically 'rolling hills' for any melody that ISNT the same type of thing
Bass
now these arent SO bad , but i think its because i cant even begin to understand the importance of bass , most are fairly generic and look a little something like this
to wrap up this whole post , basically , after youve read this whole post , id like to hear what you think i could do to build on my foundations and expand my horizons for creativity
id also like for you all to take a look through my soundcloud up till around the release of proceed
additionally , if you have fl studio , id be glad to send over flps of any of my songs that are on soundcloud for you to take a closer look at , otherwise i can screenshot/call you on discord and screenshare the track for the same reason
my soundcloud
#unironically i think megalovania has ruined my music#please help me#thank u toby fox still tho#undertale <3

BUCCI GANG AND HOW THEY WOULD PLAY UNDERTALE
Since I got my friend into the UT fandom, and the brainrot for this game is slowly coming back, I've figured that I'd fuse my favourite franchises and make this post, enjoy!
GIORNO:
-This may surprise you, but Giorno would almost do a Blind Pacifist run
-While at first, he was planning on taking out whoever got in his way, he changed his mind in the moment he saw Toriel
-After she taught him how to resolve the various conflicts peacefully, he decided not to fight, but to show MERCY to every monster
-He finds the multiplicity of choices a very interesting mechanism, especially since he's not much of a gamer, and he's pleasantly surprised to see such an innovative game
-While most of the times he would completely avoid the FIGHT button, if a monster got on his nerves a little too much, he may attack it until it doesn't want to fight anymore
-He takes the time to interact with everything and everyone, he wants to enjoy the game at its fullest
-He was so freaking lucky to meet Gaster on his first run
-Actually brought the piece of snowman with him
-He's part of the "Chara defense squad", and finds them strangely...relatable
-He was just about to do a full Pacifist route, but he couldn't bring himself to SPARE Flowey, and killed him
-"I won't let you hurt her"
-Ultimately, he regretted it, and reset his save file
-After doing a TRUE Pacifist, he left the game, leaving the monsters alone and giving them an happy ending
-Only knows about the Genocide through gameplays
-Favourite character: Toriel, but also likes Chara quite a lot
-Favourite OST: Memories, followed by home, Undertale, Megalo strikes back and Star (he doesn't care if they actually don't play in the game)
-What SOUL would he have: DETERMINATION
BRUNO:
-My man wouldn't hurt a fly if he had the chance to, off to the Pacifist route he goes
-Similar to Giorno, he finds Toriel a very comforting character, but he feels bad for pretty much every monster he meets. He thinks it's unfair for them to be forced to stay in the UNDERGROUND, and wants to find a way to destroy the barrier at any cost
-He's never played a videogame before, but he gets the hand of it quite quickly, even though he still ends up dying a couple of times.
-He would also be the kind of player to interact with EVERYTHING, paying close attention to whatever the passing monster has to say
-Sometimes, he likes to take a break, lay down and listen to the OST of the place he's exploring
-The most challenging enemies for him were Undyne and Asgore. It took him a while to realize that the only way to spare her was to run away, and he just really didn't want to hurt Goat papa
-He lets the bird carrying him to the other side, even if he doesn't actually need to move around. He just wants the little guy to feel appreciated
-Veeeery reluctantly, he decided to SPARE Flowey, it would have been a waste to kill somebody now, after everything that he had done so far
-He almost cried at the Pacifist ending
-He refuses to even acknowledge what happened in the Genocide route
-Favourite characters: Toriel and Asgore
-Favourite OST: Fallen down, but he also likes Heartache, Home and Waterfall
-What SOUL would he have: KINDNESS
MISTA:
-Mista's first run would be a Neutral. It's not that he enjoys killing the monsters, he's mostly just too lazy to think of a way to spare them
-If it's obvious, however, he'll just casually show the enemy MERCY, there's no need to take out absolutely everyone
-The only one who he genuinely looked for a way to spare was Papyrus. Honestly, he couldn't bring himself to just hurt him 'cause he had the chance to. Besides...He was afraid of what Sans would have done
-Speaking of him, he finds his jokes HILARIOUS, and he will use them in real life conversations if he gets the chance to
-He basically wasted all his money fighting Undyne
-He didn't buy the spider donut in the RUINS, and was forced to farm gold for 3 entire freaking days and buy one directly from Muffet
-After finishing the neutral route, he decided to go back and try the others. His next route was a Genocide
-He was about to shoot his computer AND himself while fighting Sans, but he eventually managed to beat him. Of course, after swearing at 3 A. M., drinking 10 cans of Sprite, listening to Megalovania on loop and threatening to throw Narancia out of the window because he interrupted him while he was playing
-His favourite moment during the Pacifist was cooking with Undyne
-He immediately questioned his life choices when he finished the route and saw Chara taking over Frisk's body. Closed the game and never opened it again
-Favourite characters: Papyrus, Sans and Undyne. He refuses to choose an absolute favorite
-Favourite OSTs: Megalovania and Song that might play when you fight Sans. He also likes Bonetroulse and Spear of justice
-What SOUL would he have: BRAVERY
NARANCIA:
-Narancia playing this game would be a total mess. Ironic, considering he's the one in the gang that likes video games the most
-Despite Toriel's guidance, at first, he would FIGHT every monster that got in his way, following the simple "It's an rpg, the more I kill, the better it is" logic
-When he saw the "but nobody came" screen, however, he freaked the hell out and immediately reset
-After that mini heart attack, he went on a full Pacifist route. However, sometimes, he would snap and accidentally kill a monster. He lost count of how many times he had to reload the file
-He also really likes Toriel (she's just very popular among the Bucci gang). The reason for it...Is not a very happy one, like in Giorno's case
-He genuinely tried to stay with her, he didn't want to leave Goat mom
-He's the one who gets emotionally invested in the game the most, he even forgets it's a game at times and just erase the surrounding world from his head
-He LOVES to voice the characters while he plays, it makes the story feel way more alive for him. He makes a very good Papyrus impression
-Speaking of which, his favourite parts of the game were the interactions between Sans and Papyrus.
-He lost his s**t when he arrived at the Temmie village. He stayed there FOR HOURS farming money. Heck, he even bought the Temmie armor
-He refused to open the game for two days after Flowey stole the SOULS
-He wanted to ask someone to play the TRUE lab with him, but he refused to admit that he was scared
-While he's not the kind of player who stops by to read every dialogue, he makes an exception for Snowdin. He really likes that area of the game!
-While he would never admit it, he cried three times during the Pacifist route. The first time when he left Toriel, the second when he heard Chara and Asriel's story, and the third when he finished it
-His favourite fight in the game is the one against Asriel. He kept on repeating the "Don't you have anything better to do" dialogue for 20 minutes, before giving up to the idea that there was really no way to save him
-After giving the monster an happy ending, he was overwhelmed by his own curiosity, and decided to try the Genocide route...Boy did it go wrong
-You thought he cried a lot during the Pacifist? He became a freaking fountain during the Genocide. Every single time he killed a Boss, he cried, with no exception
-He spent days trying to defeat Sans, until he was given the option to SPARE him, and so he did
-...The others could hear him yelling from the other floor after what happened next
-He got tired of Sans' bulls**ts, reset and did a Pacifist again
-He watched a gameplay to know what happened in the Genocide ending. Chara's jumpscare still haunts him
-Narancia gets really involved in the stuff made by the fandom, especially fan made songs and comics
-He listens to "To the bone" religiously, it's part of his routine
-He tried and failed to figure out how AUs work
-Favourite character: Papyrus, followed by Toriel and Asriel. He used to like Sans a lot too...But now he gets Vietnam flashbacks every time he thinks about him
-Favourite OSTs: Bonetroulse, Hopes and dreams and Snowdin. He can't choose between them
-What SOUL would he have: INTEGRITY
FUGO:
-Fugo would categorically refuse to reset on his first run. What it's done, it's done, and he has to take responsibilities for his choices
-He would do a Neutral, killing whoever he encounters, but without specifically looking for the monsters just so that he can kill them
-That doesn't mean, however, that he dislikes to play with the timeline. It's quite the opposite, to be honest
-Fugo enjoys messing around with the save files A LITTLE too much, dude basically became an hacker playing this game
-In his attempt to make a Pacifist run, he fu**ed up and accidentally got the Hacker ending
-"...THIS IS NOT WHAT I MEANT WHEN I SAID I WANTED EVERY ENDING"
-He toned it down a little after that, but he still managed to modify the FUN value enough to meet Gaster and his followers
-He's also the only one who unlocked Sans' room. He doesn't trust him, but he finds him an interesting character
-Neither the Pacifist or Genocide endings particularly picked his interest, even though he did punch the walls a couple of times fighting Sans
-He likes to try the different Neutral endings, he doesn't do all of them, just the ones he thinks that would affect the monsters the most
-The only character he got attached to emotionally was Alphys, he can see himself a lot in her
-He's very interested in the various theories that surround this game, and he's waiting for Deltarune to come out, he just wants to know more about Gaster
-Favourite character: Alphys, but Gaster is a close second
-Favourite OST: Darker, darker, yet darker, followed by Here we are, Waterfall and Premonition
What SOUL would he have: faded BRAVERY
ABBACCHIO:
-MERCY? Is that a food? Yeah uhm...No, that doesn't exist with Abbacchio, nothing but Genocide for him
-It's already a surprise someone convinced him to play this game. He'll play in his own way, and that means killing literally everyone, not simply the ones he encounters, but even looking for them just to earn more Exp
-He was...Weirdly satisfied when he saw the "But nobody came" screen, and he was lucky enough to find every monster almost immediately
-He hadn't found a single character that he liked until he reached Undyne. Her sense of justice reminded him of his old self, which wasn't exactly pleasant at first, but at least he felt something
-He was finally happy to see a monster actually trying to stop what he was doing, and killing her was the only thing in the game that made him slightly sad
-He's still offended for not having the chance to kill monster kid, he couldn't stand that child
-He skipped through pretty much every dialogue in the game, not that there are many people to interact with during the Genocide...
-He'd eat a piece of the snowman right in front of him just to spite him, then take the rest and leave
-He didn't care about whatever Flowey was trying to tell him about his past. That's also because without knowing he's Asriel, most of what he says doesn't really make sense
-In the moment Sans dodged his attack, he realized that he had screwed up REALLY bad. After dying against him a couple of times, he considered resetting, but he wouldn't have let "the lazy skelefu**" have it his way
-He let out a huge "YES" and a sigh of relief when he finally managed to hit him, it took him around a week
-However, little did he know, that the worst still had to come. When he noticed that he wasn't the one who had just killed Asgore and Flowey, he freaked out a little, and Chara staring directly at him made him feel a small shiver down his spine
-Still, he decided to decline their offer to destroy everything, not because he regretted what he had done, he just wanted his revenge on the child for scaring him
-He closed the game after the jumpscare, and never questioned what the hell he had been through
-Favourite character: Undyne
-Favourite OSTs: But nobody came and Battle against a true hero, he also likes The fallen child
-What SOUL would he have: very very faded JUSTICE
TRISH:
-Trish got into this game just because of its music, she kept on hearing it everywhere and wanted to understand where it came from
-She was kinda scared at first, videogames aren't exactly her forte, and her encounter with Flowey didn't help
-She slowly got used to the dynamics of the game, even though she died at least three times in every area, exept for the RUINS. (She only got a game over two times there)
-She doesn't have the heart to hurt anybody, she thinks the monsters (well...Most of them, at least) are adorable! Shyren is her favourite minor enemy, and when she saw the "Taking piano lessons again" text, her heart melted a little
-She refused to take off the faded ribbon until she found she tutu, but she never sold either of them
-She loves flirting with literally ANYONE. You can? Well then...You must!
-Her favourite area is Hotland, including the Core too. She loves the whole "artificial" theme of the place, and she had a lot of fun reading Alphys's posts!
-She would pretend to be an actual part of Mettaton's programmes, but only when she was 100% sure nobody could hear her
-Needless to say, the boss fight against him was one of the funniest parts of the story for her
-Another thing she absolutely adored were the dates with Papyrus and Alphys, especially the latter. After everything that had happened, it was a nice opportunity to relax for a bit
-Similar to Narancia, Trish gets really involved emotionally in playing the game, and she had to take a little break from it before facing Asgore
-The ending genuinely made her cry, but it was the only time she shed a tear through it
-She doesn't care about trying the Genocide, she's worked hard to give the monsters an happy ending, and she wasn't going to throw it away
-She's in love with the Undertale Musical by Man on the Internet, she knows pretty much every song by memory
-Favourite character: Mettaton, but she honestly really likes all of them
-Favourite OST: Death by glamour, followed by Metal crusher, Power of NEO, and Another medium
-What SOUL would she have: INTEGRITY
Yes, I know that Narancia's part is longer, but it's just so funny to write about this baby, bear with me please 😌

memes, and the role of music
Yeah, you heard me right. I'm gonna be talking about memes. Lately, I've been thinking about how much music has become intertwined with meme culture, and how certain songs can become memes on their own. Given that I write a music blog, I thought I'd write about my thoughts on the subject. How DOES music reach meme status?
Well first, we have to define what a meme even is. Obviously it's not just an image edited with a funny caption in Impact font or oversaturated to the point at which it's incomprehensible. Music has to be involved somewhere in there, or else this whole argument falls to pieces. There has to be a broader definition somewhere, right? Yes, there is, and it gives us a perfect grounding for establishing the meme status of music. According to Wikipedia, the term "meme" was coined in Richard Dawkin's book The Selfish Gene, and it defines the word as a cultural entity that can be considered a replicator; basically an idea that can be spread by people copying it and showing it to others, and it can include images, melodies, behaviors, and anything else that can easily be transmitted.
So why does this matter? We can now devise a way to categorize music memes based on what aspect of culture they appeal to. I won't go into every single meme song that exists, but I will go over some of the biggest meme songs in the past couple of years, and there are four main categories that all of them fall into:
Songs that have some sort of cultural significance on their own
Songs relating to shared cultural experiences
Songs that serve as part of a meme, without which the meme potential is lost
Remixes, typically of a sound that has cultural significance
For songs with their own cultural significance, we need look no further that January 2021 with the sea shanty craze; specifically, "The Wellerman". It's a perfect example of how social media has become embedded in musical culture and how sites like TikTok can bring people together through features that allow collaboration. Adam Neely made an in-depth video on this, but the gist of it was that the duet feature in TikTok allows people to come together with collaborative projects like singing sea shanties in a time when we're forced to stay apart. There are other songs that became memes through similar means. "Gangnam Style", "The Cha Cha Slide", and "The Cupid Shuffle" all became popular to the point of memes because they went viral on social media (mainly YouTube) and they were participatory in the sense they had signature dances, which were easy enough for anyone to do, solidifying them into a widespread culture. Some songs are memes due to their established presence in this culture, and they're songs people are expected to know either within a certain group or just in general. Just think "September", "Mamma Mia", and even "Renai Circulation" all became memes simply because of their existence within modern culture.
Culture also follows songs that are entertaining, i.e. funny, and funny songs are part of the epitome of meme culture. These come from the very early days of YouTube all the way to some of the newest TikTok audios. Take the keyboard cat on YouTube for example. Who doesn't love a cat in a suit playing some funky tunes on a keyboard? And Nyan Cat; an upbeat tune made out of synthesized meows while a cat with a PopTart for a body flies through space while farting rainbows. These random gems reflect the spirit of the internet in terms of creativity and just pure fun. There are also songs that are almost like musical shitposts; songs that have almost no meaning but exist for the sole purpose of entertainment through the random. Big Shaq's "Mans Not Hot" is such a fun song, and was really popular a few years ago because of its random lyrics and especially the verse that was just beatboxing. Songs that are so bad they're funny are popping up a lot as well. "Gucci Gang", sporting a laughably terrible sounding beat and 99% of the lyrics just being "Gucci Gang", climbed its way up to meme status just because of how bad it was. The meme status of these songs depends on the hilarity and ridiculousness that internet memes were founded on, and because of that, have embedded themselves into the worldwide meme culture.
Next is songs that relate to shared cultural experiences, so basically all of the movie tunes, game soundtracks, and just other experiences that aren't inherently musical, but contain musical elements. Everyone loves Smash Mouth's "All Star", and was popularized through none other than the hit movie Shrek. On its own it's a great song, but it's unlikely it would have reached the fame it has today had it not been for Shrek, which in and of itself has become a meme. Of course, the other one that everyone knows is "Megalovania" from the game Undertale. Its simple musical motifs combined to make it the insanely recognizable tune it is today, and has almost detached itself from its source entirely. Mario Kart has had several songs that have become memes, including "Coconut Mall" as well as "Dolphin Shoals", which gave birth to the famous Mario Kart Lick. And who could forget about Star Wars with its main theme, "The Imperial March", and "Duel of the Fates" among others. Lazy Town gave us a few gems as well, like "Cooking by the Book" and of course "We Are Number One". Most of these reach meme status because there are simple musical elements that make them instantly recognizable and can trigger pleasant memories of whatever media they came from, that media being a shared piece of culture among the majority of a generation. "All Star" begins that iconic leap from the the root to the fifth of the scale on the opening line, and "Coconut Mall" creates that frenzied feeling like entering a Macy's on Black Friday which just makes it so fun to listen to.
I need to take a minute to comment on the songs in this category that arguably had the biggest impact on the culture of this generation: Minecraft Parodies. Simply say "Creeper" in a room full of high schoolers and I guarantee you it will be followed by a chorus of "Aww man", most likely followed by the rest of the song. You probably already know what song I'm talking about. "Revenge" by CaptainSparklez and Tryhardninja was the song that powered a generation of Minecrafters, and its resurgence in recent years was met with a flash flood of nostalgia and overall good vibes. We had other hits that grew to immense popularity, like "Fallen Kingdom" and "TNT", along with countless others (and I really do mean countless). The parody craze was so prevalent, some people who otherwise probably never would have gotten into music began releasing hit songs. Not to mention all of the original Minecraft songs that came into the spotlight, like "Take Back the Night", "Creepers Gonna Creep", and so many others. This craze spread beyond Minecraft to some newer games like Fortnite, which allowed the creation of one of the most popular parodies today: Leviathan's "Chug Jug with You". Overall, these helped define a generation and not only allowed musicians to be involved in the things they like, but also allowed many people into the world of music.
This next category involves music that became associated with a certain format, as in there's little to no meme within the music outside of that format. The one everyone knows is the iconic Rickroll, the act of building suspense and breaking the tension with the beginning to Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" rather than whatever else would logically release tension. Meme formats are tailored to the individual song, and this is no different. The song begins with a sudden electronic drum fill before going into an upbeat 80s dance tune. Often the video preceding the Rickroll will build up to something desirable to the viewer, and that sudden fill subverting their expectations invokes a sense of disappointment, having been cheated out of their reward. However, the fun sound of the rest of the song helps ease that disappointment. The Coffin Dance and Shot on iPhone memes employed a similar concept by building up tension and releasing it by cutting to the music. However, here the music played throughout to help build up that tension while a video, often depicting someone doing something risky or getting hurt in some way, cutting to just the music at the climax of the clip. This employs driving principle of EDM, building up tension and releasing it at the drop. The meme works by mirroring that suspense and resolution of the video with that of the song, and that resolution being different than what would otherwise logically happen is what allows the meme to spread. Obviously, this isn't the only way songs can be part of a format; songs like "Baka Mitai" and "Shooting Stars" have all had their time to shine. However, these memes that work to subvert the expectations of the audience arguably have the biggest impact of the songs in this category.
Finally, we have the remixes, which typically involve altering any of the songs from the above categories. One of the most popular forms of the remix is the mashup, and who better to bring up here than the legendary SilvaGunner, whose videos advertise a track from a video game OST, but end up being some other meme mashed up into it. The reason mashups work as memes is because it subverts our expectations, even when we know it's a mashup. Our brains know how each song goes, but when we listen to them together it creates something completely new that either sounds great or absolutely horrendous. Yet we still listen to them because they're interesting. Additionally, remixing a meme song in a funny way is a common form of musical meme. It can occur through, super heavy distortion, or repeating a section of a song throughout the song at a level far more than a mere motif, or deleting parts of a song leaving only the memeable parts, or simple pitch shifting, among so many other ways of remixing. The possibilities are endless. The reason remixes are such good memes is they take songs with cultural significance and change them entirely, giving them a whole new meaning.
Well there you have it. Music and memes have gone hand-in-hand since the very beginning, and as culture evolves and memes become more advanced, there's no doubt that these threads will entangle themselves even further. Thanks for reading and if you have any interesting thoughts on music memes or just wanna talk about your favorite ones, feel free to share! That's all, and I'll catch you at the double barline!

(*tries to take this at least a little bit seriously* *fails* this blog is for you) there was a loud knocking at the door. the knock sounded familiar, exactly in tune with a certain song from the undertale ost. in fact the knocking lasted for exactly the same length as megalovania. what a funny coincidence! you finally go to the door to see sans undertale, the ultimate tumblr sexyman, standing at your door with a bouquet of flowers in his hand
* ....
* sup
(@ultimate-tumbl-rsexyman)
He looks down at Sans, seemingly upset that someone had been here. He doesn’t even question the skeleton’s existence. “What are you doing here? And how did you get my address?” He asks, opening the door more as if to invite the other in. This has got to be a fucking joke… Out of everyone who visits it has to be Sans. “Also, don’t knock on my door like that again.” He looks around outside as if looking for something or someone before his focus goes back to the skeleton.

🎸 DM my insta or twitter!
Do you listen to music (or tv shows/films/anything else) when drawing?
🎤 I listen to YouTube videos. I tend daydream and think of story ideas while I listen to music, putting it on as I'm drawing would just get me distracted. 🥁 I listen to j-pop most of the time, or games and anime OST 🎷 I almost always have something playing as background noise when drawing. Most of the time it's music. It helps me focus and keeps me company when drawing~ 🎸 Whatever my roommate is watching or some random playlist... synthwave at the moment!
What’s your favorite music artist/band? If you could ask your favorite band/music artist one question, what would it be?
🎤 If I really had to pick someone I'd say Shiloh Dynasty. I like almost all of their songs, very relaxing to listen to. ""Are you doing well?"" Not sure what happened to them but I hope they're okay. 🥁 Right now my favorite composer is Yuki Kajiura, a rather common choice I guess? But her musics always hit me the right way and can convey both pure epicness and immense nostalgia (she did puella magi, fate, kara no kyoukai & kny ost among others) 🎷 My favorite band is Bastille. I think I would ask them how they always put together such amazing mash-ups whenever they do one, because they are so well thought out and fitting. 🎸 My faves are The Weeknd and Lana Del Rey. I'd love to ask the Weeknd about his Kissland album, since it seems he really hates that one lol
Do you play an instrument? If not would you like to play one? Which one?
🎤 I've memorized how to play parts on song on the piano (and part of megalovania on the guitar out of spite) but other than that no. I would really like to learn violin! 🥁 I used to play a bit of guqing and guitar but ended up letting it down. They were really fun and satisfying to learn and i would love to get back to it when i'll have time to 🎷 I don't play an instrument but if I would, it would probably be either the piano or cello 🎸 Not really, I'd like to play piano though.
Which song(s) are you going to draw?
🎤 RISE - League of Legends 🥁 I'm drawing Of Monsters and Men - Black Water! It was hard to chose between all OMAM songs 🎷 Saturn by Sleeping at Last 🎸 As You Are by The Weeknd
What do you expect from this zine?
🎤 Lots of good entries. I'm very excited just from looking at everyone's wips! 🥁 Nothing special, I don't often have time and occasions to draw whatever i want from a prompt so this is a good opportunity 🎷 I expect, or well hope, to see many different artists come together and share their favorite music through their own art and styles. 🎸 Just a push to create a cool illustration! it's more fun together.
Anything else you want to add?
🎤 Good luck to everyone else working on their pieces! 🥁 Thanks nini for organizing this zine and i hope you'll like it! 🎷 I hope everyone will have a good time working on their pieces and can't wait to see all the art in the zine!

. OUT * MEGALOVANIA ANALYSIS! so i mentioned the other day that i wanted to do a breakdown of megalovania -- this is the first part of that. i identified the unique leitmotifs and how they come together to form the actual structure of the song. then i talked about the actual themes from a character/story analysis viewpoint.
disclaimer: while i do have a musical background and some training in music theory, it’s pretty basic and was a few years ago. i’m not the best at identifying every unique pattern or instrument, but i do have a pretty good ear for it. that being said, please forgive any technical/terminology errors. everything is based on how i perceive the song based on my limited knowledge.
and with that being said, enjoy! (i’d prefer if this didn’t get reblogged, just for the sake of my activity rip)
a few notes to start out! this is the version of the song i’m working from -- it’s the shortened version that’s released in the ost -- not the common extended version that repeats as in the game itself. you can listen to the full thing at the link above, and each sub-theme is tied to a timestamp in the song. please note that the sheet music referenced below is from an arrangement by jester musician and can be found here -- it is not an official version, and is scored for piano, therefore it does have some variations from the game track.
THEME A (main theme) A1 - 0:00-0:08 - no additions A2 - 0:08-0:16 - with bass line A3 - 0:16-0:32 - with full synths A3 - 0:24-0:32 - with full synths
sooooo, the main theme. this is what you think of when you think of the song - it’s 100% the main motif, which i feel comfortable saying because it both opens and closes the song, and it appears the most times throughout. it’s also the part of the song that’s sampled the most in other works. this theme has three variations - the basic one, the one that introducing the bass line, and the one with full synths. each of these variations lasts for 8 seconds (or 4 bars/16 counts, if you’re reading the sheet music). A1 is rehearsal A, A2 is rehearsal A’, and A3 is rehearsal B.
THEME B (second theme) B1 - 0:32-0:40 no additions B2 - 0:40-0:48 with synths and variations
second theme! i actually really love this one, and i'm sad it doesn’t make another appearance in the song. it’s actually one of the more memorable ones in my opinion. the variations in B2 are really cool, with the synths harmonizing with the melody and bass line. both versions last 8 seconds (4 bars/16 counts), and appear in the sheet music as rehearsal C and C’.
THEME C (hero theme) C1 - 0:48-0:56 - part 1 C2 - 0:56-1:04 - part 2 C1 - 1:04-1:12 - part 1 C2 - 1:12-1:20 - part 2
alrighty, so the third one is what i call the hero theme. i’ll touch on this later, but this motif stands out to me from the rest as being more heroic than the others. with the main theme and second theme both are forward and driven, this one is more celebratory. this may be because the synths are reminiscent of horns, which typically play after a heroic victory. the difference between theme c and the others is that C1 and C2 are not variations of each other, but simply 2 parts to one longer melody. each part, however, is the consistent 8 seconds/4 bars/16 counts. this whole theme is rehearsal D (which repeats). C1 is measures 21-24, and C2 is measures 25-28.
THEME D (bridge) D1 - 1:20-1:28 - variation 1 D2 - 1:28-1:36 - variation 2
alrighty, the bridge. there’s nothing in the notation that specifies that theme D is the bridge, but i’ll explain. citing wikipedia -- “a bridge is a contrasting section that prepares for the return of the original material section”. theme D is the most contrasting to the others, as it does not have a fast melody. although the bass line drives it, the leading line slows down to quarter/half/whole notes/etc. only in the second variation with the run at the end (shown below) does it start to pick back up again to lead into the next section. once again, each part is 8 seconds/4 bars/16 counts, and appears in the sheet music as rehearsal E (D1 is measures 29-32 and D2 is measures 33-26).
THEME AD (main theme + bridge) A1D1 - 1:36-1:44 - main theme + bridge variation 1 A3D3 - 1:44-1:52 - main theme with synths + bridge variation 3
this next section is definitely the most musically complex in the song. it starts to bring back the main theme again, overlapping with the bridge melody. it’s actually really difficult to break apart every little variation that happens here, so i’ve simplified it into what we already know -- the only notable new variation being a third version of the bridge. i don’t think the sheet music captures everything going on, but it does give you the basic structure. as usual, 8 seconds/4 bars/16 counts. (Measures 37-40 and 41-44 in rehearsal E’).
THEME E (guitar theme) E1 - 1:52-2:00 - variation 1 E2 - 2:00-2:08 - variation 2 E1 - 2:08-2:16 - variation 1
and.... here’s where things get a little crazy. the guitar theme is reminiscent of the bridge, but has an entirely different sound to it. the actual notes from the bridge in their original sequence are not present in the guitar theme, but if you were to hum that melody along with it, you’d find that they slot right in perfectly. all sections of the guitar theme contain the same 8 second/4 bar/16 count format. when it repeats, the arranger of this sheet music actually took the time to notate two different endings.
so rehearsal F, measures 45-48 is E1 (both times)
then measures 49-52 is E2 (note the 1st ending notation):
THEME EA (guitar theme + main theme) E2a - 2:16-2:20 - guitar variation 2 (part 1) E2bA1 - 2:20-2:24 - guitar variation 2 (part 2) + main theme
theme EA is when things start to change. E2a is is the first part of variation 2. seen here in measures 49-50 again, this is only half of the variation.
the other half, which i’ve called E2bA1 completes variation 2 while tying in the main theme again. this is the second ending of rehearsal F, measures 53-54:
each of these parts are only 4 seconds/2 bars/8 counts. they all add up to the same total, but this is the first time that we don’t see a 4 bar phrase completed before introducing something new -- resulting in the feeling of the song picking up speed as it drives toward the ending. this merging of the two themes could very easily be called the climax of the song, especially as it leads into the final section.
THEME A (main theme) A1 - 2:24-2:32 - no additions A1 - 2:32-2:36 - no additions (cut off)
theme A, the main theme, returns! we first hear the bare bones (ba dum tiss) version for the full 16 counts first, and then it begins to repeat -- only to be cut off midway through. now, this only happens in the short version that does not repeat. in this extended version it loops back to the beginning immediately after -- if you listen closely, you can hear where it was cut (at the 2:36 mark). in the actual game, it’s a seamless transition that actually completes the phrase before returning to the beginning. now, i try not to read too much into why it was decided to cut the song halfway through the phrase rather than letting it complete, or fade it out as is what happens in the game when sans stops his attacks. so, i won’t try to offer an analysis of that, but it’s something to think about. for your reference, you can see these last two instances of theme A in rehearsal G, measures 55-58 and 59-60):
CHARACTER ANALYSIS
alrighty! so, now that i’ve thoroughly bored you with my motif breakdown, let’s talk about story themes and character analyses! of course, this is all just my opinion, but i’ve thought a lot about it.
so, the basis of what i want to talk about is that megalovania was meant to be a hero’s song. now, in the game, we only see undyne referred to as the hero (in neutral/pacifist in the flavor text and in genocide with her theme song battle against a true hero). i’m not here to analyze undyne’s songs, but i will say this -- battle against a true hero is NOT an upbeat, driven song the way spear of justice is. it’s calmer, more melancholic, and even slows down in the middle. it is a representation of undyne’s pain and sorrow.
we see something similar with mettaton’s songs. death by glamour is upbeat and positive through the end, whereas power of neo is a lot more tense and not as happy-go-lucky. both battle against a true hero and power of neo share some musical motifs as well -- again, an analysis for another time, but important to keep in mind.
with both of these boss monsters, their songs are intense and driven in a neutral/pacifist route. i would argue that this is because while they believe they’re doing the right thing, so does frisk. you have a face-off between a human who only wants to befriend the monsters and get home, and two defenders of the underground who seek to protect their home. they are, primarily, obstacles to get past to continue your quest, and these songs are representative of that.
so what happens with sans? well, you don’t fight him in neutral/pacifist, but a song was written that theoretically would play if you did fight him (it goes unused in the game itself). song that might play when you fight sans feels very much the same as the other two neutral/pacifist boss fight themes. it’s a little cheesy, it samples his theme from earlier in the game, it’s short and repetitive and fits the vibe of the other music you’ve heard thus far.
in genocide, it’s completely different. you fight sans at the end of your genocide run -- he is the last line of defense between frisk and the barrier since asgore is killed instantly. all you’ve done up until this point has been to slaughter everyone in your path, and the further you go, the more the monsters seem to recognize this. in fact, i would argue that their genocide battle themes are from their point of view (explaining the melancholy and sadness that frisk by this point does not feel). so then how do you explain megalovania, a song which turns those other battle themes on their heads and stands apart in every way? it’s longer, it has more unique elements, and most importantly it is intense, driven, and determined to the end.
what is sans feeling now? sadness yes, but it’s more than that. he’s angry. he knows more about what’s going on than the other characters. he knows what comes next if he fails to stop frisk. he wants justice, he wants vengeance -- he is the underground’s hero. or at least that’s what he intends to be. what he tries until the end to be. it’s the song you’d hear at the climax of a movie, in the part of the final battle where the protagonist stops getting their ass handed to them, unlocks their inner strength, and defeats the villain. this is why in the battle, frisk gets pummeled (assuming the player isn’t a good dodger) and sans takes no hits. this is HIS moment of glory, and the player/frisk is existing in it, but you’re his adversary. it’s kinda the point where you’re forced to realize that you are the villain of this story, you’re the bad guy, and this is not your time to shine.
and yes, he fails in the end. you beat him and he dies. but there’s no triumph. you only win because he falls asleep and lets hi guard down. you have to literally push the bullet box to the fight button. you spend the entire fight just running, while sans attacks you over and over to stop you from destroying the world. and the song... well, the song is simply emphasizing that there are heroes in the world -- you just aren’t one of them.
#shit y'all this is so long rip#pls read it if you're interested i put a lot of hours and thought into it and while i did it more for myself than anything....#i'd love to see what y'all think!#* you will determine the future of this world . OUT#* file saved . SAVE

what tunes would go on a playlist of your favorite video game music?

Happy (belated) birthday to the most aDorkable genius UT AU creator there is!!! I’m really impressed at your interpretations of the UT cast! They all stay true to character, and for Frisk & Chara, you took small in-game hints and made the two most open-ended characters into deep additions to the already great cast! By the way, love the OST! Anything cool you wanna add to the OST? And are you comfy with giving a bit of insight on the new Megalo replacement? No pressure, and keep being cool!
The Megalo replacement won’t sound anything like a Megalovania. I went with instrumentation that was fitting to the situation and a more unique song structure... partly because I’m just tired of megalos and partly because I think the music will be more memorable if it’s made in a style that’s distinct.A loooot of OST tracks are missing, though. To put it into perspective, my goal is to have a unique arrangement of the shop theme for every shop (with Bratty and Catty’s just using alley girls). Jerry still needs a fight theme. I still gotta do a fight theme for Hotland’s regular encounters... basically, lots to do. I’ll probably get to the earlier missing tracks eventually.
